hey did you hear about this book called "avengers inc." that got announced featuring janet & vision? it's by al ewing & it's a detective team of avengers (I'm not sure why they aren't using tigra or jess jones/drew or kate bishop or someone) and I'm not feeling too good about the writing for janet because of the way her solo was but I wanted to hear your thoughts.

yeah i know it! I'm curious, but yeah, not sure about the janet of it all, and the weird pale cover by lenil francis yu gives me awful vibes, i'll be honest. but i've been pleased by how ewing has written vision in the past in the ultron forever storyline, so i hope that + janet being away from nadia and not essentially being delegated to being Nadia's step-mother will make this an improvement from the wasp series. i AM excited because i like vision and janet's relationship and i like the noir vibe of their first interactions but i am wary over how ewing is going to tackle janet. i've been feeling slightly burnt out over the ewing love, and hey, he is a good writer, but i dunno i've been slightly tired over the hype of it. anyway, i will be reading but i will be looking closely at how janet's portrayed and how vision's humansona is portrayed.

Thoughts on Superior? I won’t say it’s super deep or anything, but honestly, just being a story of a kid getting to be Superman, learning his disability doesn‘t make him less and maybe some old „the powers aren’t the point“ was good enough for me.

I love its basic premise of “what if Superman were real, and it were awesome and Superman fixed everything, because Superman is the best?” and there are a lot of moments executing that in incredibly satisfying ways; I still have a lot of affection for it. But with time and growth it’s hard to brush off that it’s a disability inspiration porn story of “what if this poor disabled kid got to be the most abeled for a week? And as a consolation prize afterwards he learns his life is still capable of having worth”. I’m not even gonna say it’s impossible to get something good out of that setup - I’d love to see a disabled creative team handle the conceptually adjacent Captain Marvel Jr. someday, for instance - but I don’t know how much I can give Mark Millar of all people the benefit of the doubt.
