Snow's TTRPG Class: Lesson #1, a reading list of experimental rpgs
"Go ahead, put anything here," Tumblr says. Well don't you worry, Tumblr. I will put anything here. Just wait and see.
I wrote this article: https://nerves.games/2023/07/26/snows-ttrpg-class-reading-list/
It's got some words in there. Go check it out. OR, just look this list of games and read them. It's your first assignment. These are all games that I think have pushed on the boundaries of TTRPGs and most of them I would consider experimental. They are in alphabetical order.

If you didn't read the article: this is not a list of best rpgs, or a list of great starter rpgs, or a list of my favorite games! It's simply a list of experimental games that I think pushed the bounds. I think if you're in my internet house (which you are while you read this, welcome in, get comfy, we've got fresh-squeezed water) you should read these and have opinions on them, even if your opinion is "lol, lmao, this is trash." But this is school so you have to put it in a complete sentence of you get an F. Minus.
Bye,
Snow

music theory lesson 1 - note names, clefs, and the staff
hello hello!! this is the start of my (hopefully weekly) music theory lessons!
todays focus is note names, clefs, and the staff, which are the foundation of western written music.
notes
western music is composed of 12 tones, or notes, which repeat in groups called octaves. when looking at a full 88 key piano, the notes start at A0 and end at C8. C is the "beginning" of each octave, with the octave number corresponding to each note being determined by which octave C is in.
Tumblr media
the notes circle from A to G, with additional markings known as flats (♭) and sharps (♯) slightly changing the pitch. flats make it slightly lower, while sharps make it slightly higher. flats and sharps are grouped together as accidentals, and each accidental corresponds to a black key on the keyboard.
each note has a corresponding flat and a corresponding sharp, each with an enharmonic equivalent. enharmonic equivalents are when 1 pitch has two names to refer to it. these include:
C♯ and D♭ D♯ and E♭ E♯ and F E and F♭ F♯ and G♭ G♯ and A♭ A♯ and B♭ B♯ and C B and C♭
notice the orange in that list: why is it that one of the notes in each of those pairings is not accompanied by an accidental marking? this is because there is not room for those notes to be made higher (E, B) without it simply becoming the next note name (F, C). this is seen on the keyboard, as there is not a black key between B and C or E and F.
clefs and the staff
there are 4 main clefs in western music: treble, bass, moveable, and rhythm
the treble clef, also referred to as the "G clef", is the highest clef, and it looks like this:
Tumblr media
this is where the staff comes in. the staff is what we call the lines and spaces you see in the above image; those lines and spaces tell you what note name you are playing or singing. the clef tells you what note corresponds with each line and space.
in treble clef, the 5 lines, from the bottom up, are E4, G4, B4, D5, and F5, while the four spaces are F4, A4, C5, and E5.
next is the bass clef. the bass clef is the lowest clef, and is also referred to as the "F clef". it looks like this:
Tumblr media
in the bass clef, the lines are G2, B2, D3, F3, and A3, and the spaces are A2, C3, E3, and G3.
these two clefs can be combined into something that is referred to as the grand staff, mostly seen in piano music. it looks like this:
Tumblr media
but how are they connected? A3 doesn't connect to E4.
well, that's where these things called ledger lines come in. ledger lines are lines that are added above or below the staff to add more notes. this is a grand staff with notes connecting to each other:
Tumblr media
"middle C" is also known as C4, which is how the two clefs meld so seamlessly.
next is the moveable clef, or the "C clef", which is a bit more complicated. the moveable clef looks like this:
Tumblr media
the notes in the clef are determined by which line the center of the clef is on, and that line is always C. here are the most common examples:
Tumblr media
the most commonly used moveable clef is the alto clef, which is pictured in the center. the viola of the string family reads in alto clef; the other clefs are not used nearly as often.
the final clef is the rhythm clef, which looks like this:
Tumblr media
this clef is used for unpitched percussion instruments, such as the snare or bass drum. there is no actual staff, as there are no notes or pitches to be identified, only rhythms.
i hope this was helpful and/or enjoyable!! if you have any questions, feel free to ask them!!

SCHOOL OF TUNEAGE: LESSON ONE. IN THE BEGINNING...
CLASS IS IN SESSION.
Good evening, my fellow freaks, fillies, and other assorted friends. I'm your deejay for the evening, Zee, and I'll be starting out this blog, this course, and this whole damn mission with a statement that some would consider to be moderately controversial.
Rock music is innately Black music.
Now, yes, we've had our share of crackers in the biz (myself included) but the FOUNDATIONS OF ROCK MUSIC, AND THE SONGS THAT MADE ROCK MUSIC WHAT IT IS, are primarily from Black artists.
Don't believe me? Let's delve in.
Early Rock and Roll was, at its core, a danceable, high-octane (for the time) fusion of Rhythm and Blues and Country. Now, I don't have to tell you how very Black-dominated R&B was, even at the time.
Consider this: Jimmy Preston's "Rock The Joint", from 1949.
youtube
Or, from 1946, Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup's "That's All Right".
youtube
BUT rock `n roll got passed off to the public vis-a-vis an acceptable, lilly-white proxy… Elvis Presley. Consider this, his seminal hit, 'You Ain't Nothin' But A Hound Dog'.
youtube
Now, do you want to see something really awesome?
Elvis' version was a cover. A cover that he (and the recording industry) tried to pretend wasn't a cover.
Here's our first track of the week… the original.
youtube
That's BIG MAMA THORNTON, blues singer, the woman responsible for the trope codifier for rock `n roll… and, you will note, a woman singing quite a different song from Elvis' version. Big Mama's was a song of Black female empowerment, a song about telling a freeloading gigolo to hit the road, while Elvis' was sanitized into almost a Kidz Bop version. Hell, he sanitized it MORE than Kidz Bop sanitized "Lips of an Angel" (and more on THAT debacle another day).
And this was far from the only offense in Presley's resume.
Otis Blackwell was a prolific songwriter who originally sang many, many early rock songs. These included Jerry Lee Lewis' 'Great Balls of Fire', as well as Elvis' 'All Shook Up', 'Don't Be Cruel', and 'Return to Sender'. And these last three are probably the most damning indictment of the whitewashing of rock `n roll. Why?
youtube
That's why. Give that a close listen.
Elvis seemed to take his entire way of singing - his delivery, his inflection, everything - from Otis Blackwell. As you can see from Otis' album title there, "These are my songs!", he was at least able to attempt to claw back some recognition in later years, but - in the opinion of this berk - it was definitely a case of too little, too late.
We know now. History is damn clear on the topic. But for years, the industry hid behind the Great White Hype of Elvis, pretended he was an innovator instead of a repackager, and shut out the real innovators from their rightful recognition.
Perhaps it is ironic that in years to come - particularly in the late sixties and seventies - there would be a rising 'damn the man' rebellion baked into rock and roll. Or perhaps it would just be karma, ensuring that the sanitization of an inherently rebellious music made by an oppressed people would still carry their spirit.
For tonight, I leave you with another early rock track - what some people say is the first real rock song. Ike Turner and his Kings of Rhythm - Rocket 88.
youtube
Class dismissed.
And now we go to open conversation - we've got a survey out right now, check down the page. If you fill it out, I'll have a better idea of what topics everyone wants to cover. And of course, if you want to keep talking about what I covered above... please do.

Being Beautiful is a Lifestyle
Lesson 1 - Basic Hygiene (stop being musty!)
Tumblr media
1. Use a rich body wash in the shower
You need something that’s gonna give you a good lather so you can wash your body easily and quickly. You don’t want to have to keep pumping soap forever. You also want something that smells good so you smell fresh afterwards. I would recommend body washes from Dove, Olay, and Softsoap at the drugstore.
2. Use a loofah or a washcloth
You need something to scrub your skin when it’s very dirty. Even if your skin can’t handle it everyday, I know my skin cannot, it’s helpful to have a loofah or washcloth for when you are particularly dirty and for washing off stubborn deodorant residue.
3. Wash EVERYWHERE
Give your whole body a good wash. Do not forget the back of your neck, your navel, your butt, your feet, behind your ears, and your armpits. If your skin permits it, I would recommend washing your body twice for extra freshness.
4. Dry properly
Immediately after the shower, dry your ears, intimate area, feet, navel, and armpits. Those are areas that you don’t want to leave damp. Where there is water there is life . . .
5. Use a good smelling lotion
The key to being fresh is using a good scent. Lotions from Dove, Nivea, Aveeno, Vaseline, Olay, and Jergens are all good options. They’re moisturizing and you can choose a scent you like. My personal favorite is the Nivea Oil Infused Lotion in Cherry Blossom and Jojoba Oil.
6. Layer the moisture
During the winter of if you just have dry skin, I’d recommend layering some products after the shower. A lotion then and body oil, body oil then Nivea creme, two layers of lotion, mixing lotion with Vaseline. Whichever you prefer that keeps your moisturized. Body oil or just coconut oil if your skin can handle it is good for making your skin look glowy and beautiful which looks good no matter the season. Experiment and see which products you like. My favorites are Nivea creme, unrefined coconut oil, Palmer’s Moisturizing Body Oil, and if you can find Vaseline/petroleum jelly in a tube so it’s easier to pump out, that’s pretty handy.
7. Stay fresh afterwards
If you struggle with armpit odor, then my best recommendation is to shave your armpits and apply antiperspirant. If you want to stay extra fresh, then use a deodorant on top of that. But the antiperspirant will sit on your skin and prevent sweating. Then, use a body spray or perfume over your body and clothes. Use one that matches the lotion you chose. Floral fragrances go with floral lotions, vanilla ones with vanilla lotions, etc.
TLDR: being physically beautiful includes glowy, radiant skin, smelling amazing, and staying fresh.

Small note: Here’s a small mini series of short stories for the game Obey Me! I just recently got into the game so I thought of making a fun little project of chaos of my sona and mutual’s sona deal with the demon bro’s shenanigans✨ enjoy✨ (Let me know if I should write more!)
Rebel belongs to @veiled-rebel
Lisa belongs to me
Lesson 1
I yawn as me and my friend Rebel were traveling universes again and ended up crashing at the current universe we’re in. It was common for us to get lost every now and then as universe hopping can be pretty difficult sometimes. But this time….I think I really messed up. Because now….we’re going to be stuck living with 7 demon brothers for a year.
A few hours earlier……
“GAH-“
“SHIT WAIT-“
We fell right into the middle of a random conference room where several guys were having a discussion and they look at us confused. But one helped us up.
“Apologies for the rough travel my friends! Are you two alright….?” The red haired man said.
“We’re good sir…uh….” Rebel blinked a few times before realizing where we were. They quickly nudged me, “Lisa. We need to go….NOW. Cmoooooon-“
I looked a little confused by their sudden nervousness, “Ok ok calm down. The portals just probably got mixed up….I’ll fix it.”
But when I tried to resummon it. Nothing….happened? This….this never happened before. Sure I mess up spells before but never to this extent! I try again and again and AGAIN until….
”AHHHH! MY MAGIC!!! ITS COMPLETELY GOOOONE!” I sulk in the corner, “I’ve failed you my friend. If we must die, please all that I ask is that may it please be swift?”
Rebel sweatdropped, “Dude seriously….?”
A pink haired man laughed, “What a dramatic way to go out I’ll say. Almost noble….”
A blonde guy sweatdropped, “Jeez she was quick to accept death that quickly…?”
“Lord Diavolo. I do not mean to question your leadership in anyway….but what in the world is this…?” The raven haired man asked the guy who helped us up.
Diavolo laughed, “For my exchange program of my school of course! I’d like for these two to be apart of this learning experience!”
“Wait….what? You summoned us here for that?” Rebel tilted their head, curious but wary. They knew they were demons so they had to be careful around them….especially since I was just human.
“Why of course! The purpose of this program is to bring peace to humans, angels, and demons of this world. And you and your human friend seem like the ideal candidates for this program!” Diavolo said proudly, “If that’s alright with you of course.”
“Sure. Sounds like a nice ideal. Unity is my kinda thing too,” The guys turn to see me, now looking more motivated.
“……were you not just crying in the corner begging for a swift death?” The raven haired man asked with a brow raised.
“Well now I’m here and interested. So shush. Stop complaining,” I put a finger up to shush him much to everyone’s fear. “I’ll be delighted to take part of the program.”
“…..eh fuck it. If she’s going, I’ll join as well. As long as we remain together at least….” Rebel said with a shrug.
Diavolo nods, “Of course. I’ll allow it. As long as you don’t mind living with my student council of course. As your friend has seemed to post her powers, she’ll need protection. As well as you if necessary. They are the 7 brothers as well as the avatars of sin. That over there is Lucifer, the avatar of pride. He’ll be the one taking you in.”
……me and Rebel slowly look up at Lucifer in horror. Who looked livid as I still had my finger up still.
I move my hand away, “……s-sorry sir.”
Surprisingly, he just laughed it off, “I’ll let you off the hook just this once. After all you didn’t know who I was. But I can ensure it won’t happen again….correct? Besides let us get you aquatinted with my brothers and where you two will be sleeping…” I feel like he just low key threatened me there….I flip him off when he turned around but Rebel stopped me. This was already gonna be a pain…..Lucifer could see it. But if that’s what Lord Diavolo wants, he’ll just have to deal with us.
And now here me and Rebel are, after getting settled in and introduced to all the brothers, I sit in my new bed thinking about everything that happened. What the fuck am I doing? Agreeing to this shit?! I’m officially insane!
“Lisa…..It’s late. Don’t just be sitting there in the dark. You look scary as fuck-“ Rebel mumbled.
“First of all fuck you. Second of all that’s just rude- …..and I’m just uh thinking and stuff. I mean I’m not worried about staying here. But was this a good idea…? I mean I don’t fully know much about this universe,” I admit.
Rebel turned to me, “Well to be frank? Just be careful Lisa. In this world you’re just a regular human so all you gotta do is be careful because demons here will probably target you. So as much as you wanna get along with everyone, you have to be more wary around others, K? That also means tone down on the sass….”
“……man fuck Lucifer-“ I huff already knowing what they were indicating.
“If you have time to flap that mouth of yours, you have enough time to close your eyes and SLEEP,” Lucifer said from our doorway making us jump. “You have classes tomorrow. Do NOT be late…”
With that he left. Ugh what was his problem? He already annoys me. But me and Rebel ended up dozing off together. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day. But I really need to get stronger now that I have no magic…..I can’t rely on some demons we just met. Hm Maybe I can find a gym or training area tomorrow. Yeah that could provide something! I’ll make sure to go there right after classes!
…..if I can even find it.

Grammar: Hello, Thank you!
2023년 5월 4일
안녕하세요!
Even tho i think everyone here knows already this, i want to share it ~
FORMAL / INFORMAL.
존댓말 is polite or formal language.
반말 is casual or informal language.
HELLO.
안녕 means well-being, peace, health.
하세요 means you do, do you?, please do.
Even we all use 안녕하세요 as "hello/hi", is not exactly that. Koreans used to use it as "are you doing well?" "are you at peace?" or "are you living well?". Think about how sometimes, we say "whats up?" or "how you doing" to our friends but we don't expect an answer, its just a way to say "hello"; here, is the same.
THANK YOU.
감사 means appreciation, thankfulness, gratitude.
합니다 means casual or informal language.
감사합니다 is used to say "thank you" in a formal way. You can use it everytime you want to say "thank you" to someone.

ACTIVITY 1#DoYourReasearch
According to Ms. Shaine Murillo, one of my classmates whom I interviewed, she said that she usually uses a desktop because, according to her, it can be easy to use, especially when she is typing. She said that it is easy for her, but sometimes she also uses a cellphone because she has a job and there are times when she is working and having an online class, so she uses a cellphone because it is small and easy to handle. But if she needs to type or take an online class and she is at home, she uses a desktop, not a cellphone. She uses a cellphone when she has to work and she has to study or take an online class. And also she used a Canva and WPS for her activity and she use a CUPCUT, for editing like videos etc.
According to Ms. Karen garan, whom I interviewed about what technology she used for her studies, she uses a cellphone for online classes, and she use also a apps like Classroom for her studies, and canva, WPS and Word to create an activity when she creates an editing like videos and she’s typing something like that she use a cellphone, and she also uses a tablet when her cellphone needs to charge. However, she usually creates an account on her cellphone.
