Unpopular Opinion Rant

I’m still in my Teen Wolf phase and re-watching the show. 

Holy. Hell. I can’t stand Scott. I hate how much of a hypocritical, seeing in straight black and white with no grey, thinks-he’s-got-the-moral-high-ground, self-serving, egotistical prick he really is. He constantly whines about being a werewolf but happily uses his new abilities to become better at lacrosse, increase his popularity, and basically betray Stiles’ friendship because he got better than him. Maybe it’s just me but I really don’t see anywhere in his attitude that warrants him being labeled a “True Alpha”.  I guess it’s all about “willpower and strength of character” but the show implies that one only achieves this level by being good and Scott is not as good and right as he thinks he is. 

Also what gets me a lot is the ending of both season one and season two. (3-6 don’t exist for me, especially the whole Jackson/Ethan thing. Seriously? Ethan? No. Why not Danny or anyone else?! I also hated the whole turning Jackson into a Kanima/Wolf hybrid. He is NOT a damn hybrid! Once he completed his transformation at the end of Season 2, he became a WEREWOLF!!!)

First, yes, I get that the writers wanted to depict Peter as a psychotic bad guy but maaaaaaaybe don’t have him go through a hugely traumatic event where he saw near his entire family burn to death, something he himself also barely survived. He also went feral because of broken pack bonds and the fact that his new Alpha just abandoned him to die. So all that, and the “morally superior good guys” decide the only way to stop him was to set him on fire. Again. Explain to me how that makes them better? Because they pretty much set a burn trauma survivor on fire again and didn’t care. 

Second, I hate Scott’s actions regarding Gerard Argent and the fact that he forced Derek to bite the bastard against his will. Sure, he had a plan but did he actually tell it to anybody? Hmmmm. It seems he does that a lot. Scott also didn’t seem to give a damn that Gerard had all but tortured Stiles, a person who was supposed to be his best friend but who cares about that as long as Scott gets what he wants and people do what he wants. That last part was never mentioned in the show anyway so I guess... 🤷‍♀️. 

I know Scott was also one of the few who wanted to save Jackson as opposed to killing him, but let us not forget Peter helped to save him too, even if it is unclear here whether he had an ulterior motive for it. (It’s really too bad that Colton Haynes left after this season because I am completely convinced that Jackson would have been revealed as Peter’s son given all the buildup thus far. But it’s very likely that the writers would have eventually reduced Jackson to a prop to hold up Scott as well eventually so maybe Colton actually did himself a favour.)

Back to Peter, I know many will disagree with me on this, but I like him. Peter is what one would call a “chaotic neutral” and Ian Bohen’s acting is just so incredible, he makes it very hard to hate this guy even when he’s being a snarky smartass. (Or is that he’s so good that he makes you hate the character like you’re supposed to? In that case, he failed with me). Yes, he killed his niece, but it’s also heavily implied that he wasn’t all there mentally during that part because of all the trauma, the psychological damage of being trapped in his body for six years, and the fact that Laura abandoned him, as mentioned before plus wasn’t Jennifer manipulating him? Do NOT even get me started on how unbelievable the whole “Peter willingly working with Kate” thing is. Seriously, if season one was any indication, he should’ve immediately tried to kill her again once he realized she was still alive. 

Another thing that irks me is Derek and the pack’s constant need to hold everything over Peter’s head when it was actually Derek who gave Kate everything she needed to wipe out his family. But Derek gets all the slack for that instead. I don’t hate Derek at all but come on! 

This leads me to my final point of the rant and that is the writers reducing the Hales to props to try and keep Scott credible as an Alpha and nothing more, even dismantling the Hale pack entirely at one point. Yes, Derek does it to save Cora but they officially wiped out a powerful, centuries old werewolf pack just like that. Only way I’ll get over this is if they eventually give the Hales a spin-off much like the Originals from the Vampire Diaries. I mean more young Peter? Hell yes!!!! Young Derek? Sure, I’m game! Actually showing Talia as a fleshed out character? 🙋‍♀️ Me!!! Also it may get me to like Laura as it would take her beyond this one-dimensional person that we know now. Who knows.

One Down, Myriads to Go

The other day I got an anonymous ask who claimed that they could "dismantle" my arguments about racism motivating the Teen Wolf fandom's treatment of Scott. You see, in the show Grey's Anatomy (which I have never watched) this individual found they like Christine Yang and Callie Rodriguez over the star and lead protagonist, Meredith Grey. Apparently, that means that it's not racism motivating fandom's maltreatment of Scott McCall.

Now, I'm at a disadvantage here, because I'm not in the Grey's Anatomy fandom, if it has a fandom, so I don't know, but let me, in the spirit of charity, say sure! I will admit, my anonymous friend, that your dislike of Scott McCall is not motivated by racism, even though I'm not sure if that tracks.

Congratulations are in order. Everyone clap! One down, thousands and thousands and thousands to go.

While we're basking in the glow of being free from racism, could I ask a few follow-up questions? Because if it's not racism, then I'd like to understand why this person doesn't like Scott McCall.

Is it because he's "sexually obsessed" with Allison? I know that can be a turn off, especially when he ditches Allison four times in 12 episodes, breaks into her aunt's room to steal a bullet for Derek, breaks into her room to steal jewelry to help Derek, or breaks into her grandfather's room to steal a book to help Derek. I mean, in Season 2, he demonstrates obsessive behavior by risking their relationship in order to try to save Jackson, Erica, Isaac, and Boyd. I suspect, on the other hand, that they like Stiles because his decorous and moderate behavior towards Lydia -- such as when he prepares to make out with her in her room while she's drugged, or when he pushes a moon-influenced werewolf to sniff her for 'arousal,' or delivers a not-a-red-flag speech at the Winter Formal about how he knows and understands Lydia better than anyone else.

If it's not that, I wonder if they dislike Scott McCall because he's stubborn and disrespectful, especially towards Dreamy Werewolf Prince Derek? I mean, would it have hurt Scott to show some empathy toward Derek, like if he repeatedly tried to work with him after Derek broke into his house and threatened to kill him? Or tried to talk Derek down from biting and/or killing teenagers rather than just rat him out to the Argents? Or nearly kill himself mourning for Derek? I suspect they like Stiles because he understands and appreciates Derek's many good qualities, such as when he lied to Scott about his phone so the Argents would murder Derek for them, or tried to get Allison to shoot Derek in the head, or wondered aloud to Derek if he killed his sister out of jealousy?

If it's not that, I wonder if they dislike Scott McCall because he's lazy, a bad student, and incurious about the supernatural world around them. Such as when he was the one to explain to Allison how pack dynamics make werewolves stronger or figured out that Gerard wanted the Bite or figured out that Derek painted the door for a reason. I know you like Stiles because he's always right, such as when he figured out that Deaton was the alpha or, as late as the 30th episode, had Derek on the list of possible Darach suspects twice?

I suspect it's because that Scott is so morally inflexible and judgemental that he went to Peter for help with a possessed Stiles or a de-aged Derek in Seasons 3B and 4, or worked alongside Deucalion to stop Jennifer in Season 3a, or refused to let Derek die after Derek betrayed him to his uncle. As opposed to liking Stiles, who would never demand that his judgement about someone be taken as fact, such as hiding Malia's parentage from her or refusing to have a modicum of compassion for Matt.

Sarcasm aside, do you see the point I'm getting at? You don't have to be racist to dislike Scott McCall, but if you dislike Scott for the same reasons you like Stiles (or Derek or Isaac or Jackson), then I'm going to have a pretty good idea why. In my experience, all the major reasons that are given in this fandom for disliking Scott are also things that Stiles has done (though presented as conforming to stereotypes of Mexicans -- sexual obsession, passionately stubborn, and uneducated), but somehow the fandom finds those things charming when a white guy does them.

I feel it comes down to deep-rooted white entitlement, to a visceral emotional reaction that a story with plenty of good-looking white men chose to center itself on a Latino character, which didn't change after 100 episodes and a movie. I can't know for absolutely sure, as I'm not a telepath. So yeah, it is entirely possible that this anon dislikes Scott for deeply-examined non-hypocritical reasons that they don't feel like sharing; I have to grant that reality.

Been seeing you getting hate mail and while I absolutely can't understand why anyone would go to all the trouble to make some one else feel bad... I also kinda really love the discourse on Scott? Like YOUR RANTS oh man. On point. Always. Tbh I tried giving Scott a chance... He is the main char after all... But I was like??? Wtf? That dude does nothing but refute others and does whatever he wants. And this was when I didn't particularly like Stiles either (first time watching Teen Wolf). But then I got to know more of him and like Tony he went asshole to lovable asshole—seriously, Stiles might not be the ‘nicest’ but he tries and his heart is in good place—while Scott is just... self-righteous. Someone pointed out that he sees people as possessions and that irks me too that I can actually see it being true. The dude has literally nothing going on except for being the one that gets bitten. And the Romeo-and-Juliet-esque romance he has.

Okay, okay, where was I going with this?? Right. LOVE YOUR RANTS. People need to understand that Scott not being liked isn't because of his race or anything trivial like it—he just happens to be—but because of his actions. Or inactions, as it were. *remembers the pool scene and Scott saying he's busy and resists the urge to chuck a shoe at him*

I've talked with some friends about it, and our number one issue sort of...boiled down to the hypocrisy of the show? I....sort of rant a lot here, and I would add a Read More, but I can't find the option anymore?? I fucking hate Tumblr. EDIT: I found a post that told me how to do it!

So, since he's the character I focus on the most, let's talk about Stiles' morality. Because, you're right. Stiles is an asshole. He does some fucking awful shit in the first season, and even if he had a Reason to do it, it was still bad. And I still don't like it. But I understand it.

Stiles' lack of shits about what is 'lawful' is literally established in the first ten seconds of the show. He's a sheriff's son who sneaks onto people's roofs in the middle of the night bc they aren't answering his calls, who listens in on his dad's work conversations and is willing to fuck up a crime scene because he's so excited about getting to see a dead body. He doesn't care about laws. He doesn't even care about most basic manners (invasion of privacy much, with having Scott sniff Lydia to see if she liked him?). He's a dickhead, even to the people he cares about sometimes. But personality and morality aren't the same. Stiles' entire actual morality system is based around whatever he needs to do to keep the people he loves safe and happy. Lying to his dad so he doesn't get murdered by hunters? Totally fine. Telling Scott that it was "Jackson's own fault" that Scott attacked him with superstrength and dislocated his shoulder, so Scott doesn't feel like an asshole? That's just best friend duties! He will lie, steal, cheat, and he will kill to keep his loved ones safe (let's not forget this boy threw molotovs at Peter, knowing damn well what they would do to him). We can headcanon all we want about all the different people who are in this group of loved ones, but the list is canonically very short: Scott, his dad, and Lydia. Later on, like, past s3B? It includes Derek. Canonically. Stiles puts his life and the lives of others he cares about on the line while he lies to the matriarch of the Calavera hunter clan, to save Derek Hale. Derek is just canonically a part of that group now, and he fucking knows it bc Stiles is his anchor (that's canon too bb). End of Story, Sterek or no Sterek. It's why we get that insane number of lookbacks when Derek is dying before his evolution. Because Stiles is being forced to choose between two people who are BOTH in his ride-or-die group. He Cannot Pick between Scott and Derek, until Derek begs him to leave.

SO, yes, Stiles does fuckface things, and I don't always agree with what he does, but it is ACCURATE TO HIS CHARACTER. He is morally grey. He NEVER CLAIMS to be pure or good or just or righteous. Stiles knows who he is, and he stays true to himself. And I love him for that.

The same goes for a bunch of other characters! For Peter, who is strikingly similar to Stiles, in that family goes above literally everything. Screw the idea that he was following Derek around waiting for the chance to steal back the Alpha spark. That man put his life on the line (his second life, no less) to get the shit beaten out of him until Derek let him help save Derek's life Again and Again. Family Comes First.

Scott's morality is...confusing as fuck. I thought at first he was similar to Stiles, in that family came first, but...while he's protective of his mother, he also does a lot of stuff that puts her at risk without seeming to care/worry (like leaving Peter alone with her once Stiles hits their car, so he can chase Jackson) (or asking her to come to the high school when he's convinced there's a bomber in it)? Seriously, he's more protective over Allison, than his mother. It's very black and white the rest of the time. Very "this bad" "this good." And if you do "bad" then you are bad forever, while if you do "good" you are only good until you do "bad." The Betas were "good" until they asked for the bite, and then they were "Bad." Derek was "bad" when Scott met him and scared him, so after that, no matter how much "good" he did, he remained "bad." But only when it suits him. Allison is good even when she does bad, because he wants her to be good. Chris is good even though he's done mountains of bad, because of the minuscule amount of good that Scott has seen him do, because Scott wants him to be good. Even DEUCALION is good, despite the crazy CRAZY amount of bad he's done and despite having seen him do NO GOOD, just because Scott wants him to be good. Lying to those closest to you is bad, unless Scott is doing it, and then it's good, because he knows HE is good. Killing people is bad, unless Scott is doing it. Letting villains go is bad, unless Scott is doing it. Biting people is bad, unless Scott is doing it. Protecting family is good even if it requires killing or lying, unless it's not Scott doing it. Revenge for past slights is good, unless it's not SCOTT doing it. And you try to understand it! You try to say, okay, then he's morally grey, got it. He plays with the rules to suit his own morality, whatever. Except that Scott, the other characters, and THE SHOW ITSELF, are all telling you otherwise! They all say that Scott is morally pure. That he is good and righteous and lawful. That he always does the "right" thing, and that when he does "bad" things, it's justified and he had to. THE HEAVENS THEMSELVES say Scott is somehow better or more righteous than the other characters by MAKING HIM AN ALPHA OUT OF NOWHERE. (I'm talking abt canon here, not going into deaton conspiracy theories) It's like....Like in the hate mail response I did, where I pointed out that Every Single Thing people get angry at Derek for doing, Scott did too. Lying, killing (or at least attempting it), attacking innocents, losing his temper, keeping secrets, refusing to work with someone who could help, etc etc etc. Everything Derek has done that is morally "wrong," Scott has also done. And that's okay! Doing a bad thing doesn't make you a bad person, and even if it did, Scott is ALLOWED to be bad! GO FOR IT.

Except that he is sinless. It isn't that he learns from the bad things he does, it's that they aren't treated like bad things in the first place. Because Scott did it, and Scott always does the right thing.

Derek's behavior is reprehensible at times, but the show ADMITS that and frames it as bad. Frames it as him doing a bad thing when he scares Isaac or throws Peter or tells Erica who to date. And that's fine, because Derek is established as not being morally pure.

But SCOTT IS. And because they were so desperate to make him continue being "Pure" they didn't frame the things he did as wrong, or if they did, they absolved him of it immediately, using the exact same reasoning that works for Derek's situations, but this time Actually Accepting it.

He scares Stiles, well it's because he's scared. He throws Isaac, it's because he's upset. He attacks Jackson well it's because Jackson was being a dick. He orders Allison to date Matt, well he had a goal to accomplish. Every reason is treated like a fucking doctor's note that erases the bad things he does.

Being scared, or angry, or retaliating to someone being an asshole, or trying to protect himself, was NEVER a good enough reason for Derek to do ANYTHING "Bad." It was never an acceptable excuse.

IF IT WERE: If the show were making a statement about how fallable people are, how they do bad things, but they do them for a REASON. How people will do wild and terrible things out of fear, and how that doesn't make it less bad, but it makes it understandable, so don't demonize them out of nowhere. If that were the case, I would HAVE BEEN FINE WITH IT.

Scott is held to COMPLETELY different standards than everyone else in the show! And I DON'T mean that people held him to higher ones. They dropped that bar so fucking low. Anything was allowed, and any excuse was good enough.

He made out with a girl who was dating someone else, who his best friend was in love with? It's just the full moon, he's angsty about losing Allison. He ducttapes Liam to a bathtub and starts throwing random phrases at him that he hated Derek for saying to him? He's freaked out! He doesn't know what to do with a bitten wolf! It was an accident! He works with a mass murderer behind people's backs without telling them the whole story? Am I talking about Gerard or Deucalion? Who fucking knows. Either way, it's okay, because he was protecting his family. He plots to murder a cancer patient slowly and painfully by replacing meds that likely included painkillers with mountain ash, and the uses someone else's body to deliver the killing blow, and it's okay because he was just being smart! He was just working ten steps ahead! He was saving his mom and the whole town! Who cares if it DIDN"T WORK?

He walks into his ex-girlfriend's hotel room and scares the SHIT out of her while she's naked and alone in the shower? It was the wolfsbane. It doesn't matter that no one else's impulses included HARASSING someone. He lies to his girlfriend's face about her own life because he doesn't think it's important enough for her to know (who am I talking about, come on, take a guess, which one is it? Allison or Kira? Trick question: it's both). He was just being kind! He didn't want to worry her! He didn't want to make her feel bad! She didn't need to know!

I'm so far off track it's not even funny. My point was that Everything the other characters in the show are demonized for or framed as evil or bad or wrong for doing, Scott is shown to do and it's treated like at minimum a comedy, if not a Perfect Brilliant Strategic Move.

God, fucking hell. I mean, the PARALLELS you see in this show, between Scott and others. The scene of Alexander Argent going to the hotel after being bit? That bit where he pulls his shirt up in the mirror? It's a near PERFECT replica of Scott looking at his bite at Deaton's. They paralleled SCOTT MCCALL with AN ARGENT. Deaton has this whole line in S2 where he's bitching at Derek about "the person you should trust the most doesn't trust you at all" And then seasons later, we have Scott look his best friend in the eye and refuse to trust him, only to get upset later because Stiles doesn't want to work with him anymore and he "lost them." Scott goes running into Derek's house in S1 to accuse him of killing the bus driver, and when he can't get a real response, he EGGS HIM ON by accusing him of Murdering his SISTER, just to get Derek to react. Which is the EXACT same thing Kate did when she showed up and wanted Derek to lose his temper. Scott is CONSTANTLY paralleled with villains and assholes, and constantly does the things that others are persecuted for. But instead of feeling regret or learning something from it, instead of growing AT ALL. Those actions are treated as good. We are told they are righteous. And clever. That they are what heroes do. AND YES: There are parallels between Derek and Stiles' behaviors and villains/morally grey characters! Of course there are!

BUT THEY AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE THE TRUE ALPHA MAIN CHARACTER. SCOTT IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE GOOD GUY. HE'S NOT SUPPOSED TO MIMIC/EMULATE THE VILLAINS, AND HE'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE REWARDED WHEN HE DOES IT ANYWAY.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again; I understand the urge to think that the Teen Wolf writers did all of this on purpose. That they built Scott up as an unreliable narrator, so that we're forced to come to terms with a protagonist who isn't good, and we watch them fall into a villainous role while thinking all the while they are a hero. That all these parallels are intentional and the writers just couldn't Tell us what was going on bc they didn't have enough power.

And sometimes I play into it. I will lie to myself about Scott being the 'narrator' of the entire show, and that we're seeing it all through his eyes so of course things are biased and conflicting, just so I can actually Enjoy watching it.

But I think it's absolute bullshit that this was done on purpose. It wasn't. The parallels appeared because they Wanted Scott to do the badass things that they had all the villains doing, throwing people and being sneaky and clever, and stopping the bad guy, and they didn't want to deal with the fact that they were having him do bad things. So they just pretended he wasn't and refused to acknowledge that they'd already punished other people for doing the same exact shit, but somehow Scott was getting rewarded. They wanted Scott to be the hero, so they made him the hero, and screw everybody else.

A massive war has broken out between the Hales and the Argents. As per usual, the Argents are the aggressors, their army an unstoppable force rolling through the countryside of…Camaro (just go with it), leaving chaos and ruin in their wake.

The city is under siege, and it’s only a matter of days, if not hours, until the Argents declare victory and come for Queen Talia. They’ve already taken Laura, the heir apparent, and the consort to the queen is dead. Her youngest vanished in the chaos and she doesn’t have time to mourn any of them. Not when her people are rioting out of fear and there’s rumors of spies in her court.

In an effort to save her last surviving child, Talia sends her son Derek out of the capital to their closest ally, the kingdom of Beacon Hill. But even though the Hill is their closest ally, it’s not actually all that close, geographically. There’s a lot of wilderness between the two cities that’s now crawling with Argent soldiers on the lookout for anyone trying to escape. Derek is smart and a trained soldier, but stealth and evasion weren’t skills he picked up as a captain in the royal army.

But as luck would have it, they just so happen to have a very stealthy and evasive thief in their custody, who was recently arrested for, among many other charges, lurking in the woods and robbing unsuspecting travelers. There have been whispers of his existence for years but until now, no one had ever seen him, let alone caught him. The more fanciful rumors described him as a type of ghost, dropping from trees, silent as the grave, and disappearing just as quickly once he’d taken everything of value.

(These rumors are greatly exaggerated by his victims to save face.)

So Talia lightly threatens Stiles into smuggling her son out of the capital and getting him safely to Beacon Hill. She gives them a letter addressed to the king, kisses her only surviving child on the forehead one last time, and prepares herself to face the Argents alone. It’s an attempt to distract them, keep them focused on her so Derek and Stiles can slip out of the city before the order goes out to find the last remaining Hale.

Once they’re out in the wilderness, there’s a lot of bickering and arguing between Derek and Stiles, and even a punch or two. Derek doesn’t trust a thief, Stiles doesn’t trust a royal, they’re sleeping on the cold ground and constantly dodging enemy soldiers, and there’s a lot of stress all around. Neither one of their personalities really shine under stress.

I feel like one of them should get hurt along the way for the drama. I don’t know which I like better; the crown prince taking a blade to save the lowly thief, or the bitter and angry thief saving the prince he despises because even though he’s cynical and grey around the morals, he believes that Derek is their only hope against the Argents.

Another thing to consider: this injury will definitely happen just as they’ve almost reached Beacon Hill. Maybe some Argents caught their trail and have been following them, and just as they let their guard down, they strike. So which visual is better?

The grimy and beat up refugee prince carrying an injured and bloody thief through the palace doors, demanding the medics tend to him first, not caring for his own safety until he knows Stiles is safe,

Or

The grimy and dirty thief hauling the injured and bloody prince through the palace doors, fighting his way through the guards to get him help, even though he’s a wanted criminal and will no doubt be arrested?

Okay, I think I’ve landed on the second option. Derek gets injured and Stiles hauls him into the palace of Beacon Hill, fighting his way through the guards, because, even though he’s a bitter and angry thief who’s about to be arrested, he’s saving the prince he no longer despises and maybe kind of loves? Because even though he’s cynical and grey around the morals, he believes that Derek is their only hope against the Argents.

It’s the best of both worlds, and Stiles is also a bit roughed up so we still get that great beat up and bloody Stiles a e s t h e t i c.

Bonus:

Stiles is arrested, but it turns out he’s the missing prince of Beacon Hill! And that when he was a baby, the Argents came through and killed Queen Claudia and the crown prince Przemysław was presumed dead in the chaos.

King John reunites with his son, they gather their sizeable army, and he marches back to Camaro with Stiles and Derek at his side, to take back the city. Miraculously, Laura is actually still alive, so she becomes queen and Derek returns to Beacon Hill with Stiles and John and they live happily ever after!

I’ve always believed that villains are not born- they’re created. A good person pushed too far. The morally grey deciding what is justice. So many ‘Stiles is pushed from the pack/cheated on’ have soft sad Stiles forgiving. And I’m just always thinking- um this guy is the brains, he is the manipulative, smart, under the radar, with his own moral compass guy. His type of villainy would be methodical mind games ending in violence. Any non- forgiving ruthless Stiles fic recs?

It wasn't surprising that they forgot to update his number when their phones kept getting destroyed by the monster of the week...right? They just forgot. That happened. All the time! Too often. When the pack stopped giving excuses for forgetting, a deserving prickle of fear and trepidation etched its way into his heart, making his usually cocky and brave smile falter and leave. Only when they weren't watching. When they went out of their way to stop him going to meetings, he stopped smiling altogether. Only where they couldn't see. But it's fine, right? He was part of a family that loved him and just wanted to keep him safe...right? But when Derek used the door instead of the window to get into Stile's house, as small and insignificant a fact that may be, he accepted that something was wrong.

Sterek - The Good Place AU Or if you haven't watched it... why?

I've watched it!!!! How could I not, the show is amazing! But my memory is so bad I don't think I can remember it all, BUT I do remember the overall plot. So here's my two cents about Sterek in The Good Place AU:

1. Derek is probably Eleanor in this case, who believe the fact that he ends up in "The Good Place" is a mistake, cause he just loves to blame himself for everything (the Hale fire, the whole Kate situation) and carries on the guilt even after death. He then has to live in the seemingly perfect world where everyone he met all reassures him that he is the hero, that he belongs here bla bla bla. The problem is that Derek doesn't believe any of that. He has to talk to someone about it, so enter Stiles, his The Good Place soulmate, who will help him realize that he does deserve to be here and to be loved.

(But the end of season 1 is so twisted because they're actually in The Bad Place so that is angsty lol)

2. I actually headcanon Stiles to be more like Jason, cause I will never see him as Chidi. Like pretending to be a monk who took a vow of silence so no one can find out that you are a fraud, that is something Stiles would definitely do. Stiles' past is trouble, his mom's death and dad's drinking habit didn't help at all, and all those petty crimes, shoplifting, vandalizing,... is why he ended up in The Good Place, well, The Bad Place to be exact. But unlike Derek, he didn't let the fact that he was probably there by mistake bother him, he takes advantage of it, and tries to cover it up and enjoy his life there, hence the monk thing.

3. Scott will be there too, cause let's face it, he is Tahani. He thinks that he truly belongs there, considering all the "good" things he did when he's alive. But then all of his action is so morally grey that some of it borderline black, that how he ends up here. Oh and he and whatever love interest of his will be this perfect couple (maybe Allison cause Kira is too precious for this), but behind closed doors they are anything but that.

4. Lydia as Janet and Deaton as Michael. They fit the characters I guess. I don't really like Deaton in the show, never know why, maybe it's his vibe, the "Scott is my precious baby and prodigy" mindset, and the fact that he withholds important information every time, yeah he's Michael.

I haven't thought of the ending yet, maybe they realize that their life, well afterlife, should not be subjected to Deaton's twisted experience so they all say fuck you to him and leave lol.

A Good Girl

So, for context: Earlier this year our darling @saiyanprincessswanie got sick and needed surgery. I being a worried friend, reached out wished her luck promised her a get well fic, and then prayed for her. All good and dandy. But not. See, the incredible idiot that I am, NEVER POSTED THE FIC!!! I PUT THE STORY IN MY POSTED FILE BUT I DIDN'T GIVE IT TO HER!!! I. Am. A. Moran... But, this has allowed me to re-read my work and I can make it better. So, I'm posting part one now and I'll post part two next Monday. Our beloved @saiyanprincessswanie deserves more than just a one-shot at this point. I'm so sorry my Dear. I so hope you like it.

A Good Girl

Part One- Warnings: None

She was a good girl. Anyone with half a brain cell could see that. Steve looked at the young man once again stunned. Not only was the young woman beautiful, she looked soft and sweet,he could hardly believe that she looked so young. If asked, Steve would have sworn the beautiful woman was a young girl of eighteen and not a woman of twenty-seven, but she did have an inner lining of steel running through her, she had a fire, judging by the way she was ranting with the younger man. Steve found himself drawn to her, captivated in a way that no one ever managed to captivate him. Not even peggy. A man can get up to some very bad things for just a chance at getting a Girl like her. He thought to himself with a half formed idea backing at the back of his head. 

In hindsight, he was glad that he came with the idiot. They had met in one of his Support Group Meetings. The young man was in bed in the “act” when his girlfriend was dusted. But the relationship had been rocky, and he had been thinking about an old girlfriend of his, more and more. From what he gathered the girl had been left alone. An orphan, she had gotten a scholarship in Forensic accounting where they had met. They had dated throughout their college years but had sadly drifted apart when they hit the workforce despite having both been accepted in a prestigious firm. The stress had simply been too much. That's when things had ended. 

One of the many consequences of the snap had been unemployment. Companies had gone bankrupt either because they had lost all or most of their workforce or because the owners and shareholders had evaporated and there was no one to sign the paychecks and pay the bills. The snap had caused more problems than solved them, at least on earth. Such, in point, was the young girl's case. Steve hadn't understood why she had quit her job at the firm and had gone to a much smaller firm with a significant downgrade in income, but now he understood. She was working as a waitress in a rundown diner. The smaller firm had lost everyone. She had been the only one left. 

Steve had only just managed to dodge a flying cup aimed for the young man but alas, she didn’t have a very good aim. This argument had been going on for the better part of forty minutes. She knew she was going to get fired, so she may have decided to go all out. 

The idea had been to go with the dolt, as moral support, go talk to the girl. He had sat in a booth, while the younger man had sat in another. Her face had soured from the sweet smile she had the moment she had recognized her ex-boyfriend. She had been polite, asked him what he had wanted, he said he wanted coffee and a chance to talk. She had agreed and went to get his order. Her boss had given her ten minutes that would be reduced from her lunch hour. He listened in thanks to his superior hearing. It had been a simple conversation at first. The air stiled when, the Moran had said that he missed her. Things became frosty when he informed her that the other woman had been dusted. It took a turn for the worst when he said that he wanted her back. At first, she just laughed, then… Then the argument started. That's when Steve got the truth. He had always suspected that there was something off about the sap story the other asshole had shared with the group. Now he knew. My poor sweet girl. Don’t worry I'll  take care of you. 

Sadie was done. Just done. All her life she had been a good girl. She always did what the nuns told her to do. She never broke the rules, worked hard, was kind to all even when she was bullied. She did her damn best, to tell the truth, she saved herself waiting for “the one”, she had been faithful, loyal. She was humble, modest. And for what? To be called boring and humiliated by being compared with another woman. She had felt so small when Kevin had said that, what’s her name was sexier and better in bed. She had rebuffed that she had been a virgin when they had met. Not to mention that he never wanted to try anything new, telling her that she shouldn’t try to be someone she wasn’t, whatever THAT meant. Kevin then had the gall of saying it was all her fault he slept with the other woman. She should have done more, tried better. Learned more. When she asked him acidly, if the point of exploring one's sexuality was to do it as a couple, the bastard had accused her of making a scene. She had quit her job and left the apartment they shared that very day. He had called her accusing her of being childish and overreacting, she threw her phone away, just in case he could track the serial number. Sadie wondered how long it would take the firm and his new flame to find out that eighty percent of his so-called excellent work was done by her, at home. In some misguided and deluded idea of good to him.

The world had changed a year after that. She was still hurt. But not in the way most thought. She was hurt and angry at herself. For not saying what she wanted. For not realizing what a jackass Kevin was. But above all, she wished she could have punched him. And now here he was… Telling her how sorry  he was, what a mistake he had made, and how much he missed her and how much he wanted her back. Everything went red after that, she didn’t know what she said but she did remember throwing something at him. She nearly hit the client sitting in the booth behind them. She was going to get fired for that. She just knew it. She didn’t care. It was a lousy job anyway. She did on the other hand get to do something she had dreamed of ever since they had broken up, no ever since she had caught him cheating and left him. It wasn’t a punch, no. But it had been a slap. And a very big mighty slap. 

Later that evening, Frank had been gracious enough to “let” her finish her shift, with no job and slim prospects, she was still smiling. Her smile dropped when she saw Captain America himself waiting outside for her with an apologetic face. Now that she thought back on it. Kevin had walked in with him. Before she could say anything the tall Adonis took a step forward and smiled minutely.

“I’m sorry about today. I didn’t know the whole story. If I had I would have stopped him from coming here.” Steve Grant Rogers was talking to her. Apologizing to her. Sadie smiled stunned but sadly.

“It’s alright. Kevin has always had this way about him. It takes a bit for you to see past his bulshit.” Steve chuckled and shook his head. We’ll have to do something about this language though. “I’m not surprised you fell for it. You're a good man, Captain.” 

Hearing that did things to him. She was perfect in every way. Sweet, pure, good-natured. She deserved better than Kevin. She deserved someone who would keep her safe from the ugliness that this word had become. She deserved to be cherished. Taken care of. And HE wanted to be the one to do all those things for her. But he also realized that he would have to pace himself. 

“Well, to make it up to you how about I offer you a job? I was going to give it to Kevin, but I think there's a story he’s not telling us about him being fired from the firm you were both working at, so I feel my safest bet is offering it to you.” Steve said shifting his weight from foot to foot. Sadie smiled at that.

“Yea, someone at the firm must have found out that he was a slacker. I did most of his work for him remotely from home at night. And with no hot, exciting girlfriend in HR to cover up for him…” was all she had to say. “What kind of job are you talking about?”

“Simple accounting. Nothing out of the ordinary. Howard Stark stopped the government from declaring me dead so the hundred dollars I invested in his company have grown in stock value ever since. He also apparently bought a bunch of Real Estate and a lot of other stuff, so now I don't know what I have or what I owe to the IRS. I need someone to look at my books… that have been untouched since nineteen ninety-one.” Steve explained, a bit overwhelmed. Sadie wished she could have told him that she needed to think about it. But she didn’t. Without any job prospects, she wasn’t in a place to decline Steve's offer. The fact that she would be working for America's Golden Boy and getting one over Kevin was just a bonus. Thanking him he gave her the compound address and they parted ways. 

He followed her from a safe distance. He wanted to make sure she got home alright. At least that's what he told himself as he melted into the darkness.

The underrated and subversive hero

I loved Teen Wolf, and Scott was probably the best, and one of the most unique protagonists I’ve seen in years. There’s just so few male characters who are based around being gentle and kind. Who have zero toxic masculinity, and who basically have the kind of character traits that are usually given to female characters. And to then subvert that by instead of making him the love interest, or just limiting him to being the morality pet,  they made him the lead.   Making the one that inspires, the actual main character, instead of just limiting him to being support for others. 

Instead the show let Scott grow. How he started out as a kid who’s been assaulted, violated, and who desperately clung to his humanity, to normal, like an anchor in a storm of terrible things happening to him. The girlfriend, lacrosse, all of it a means to deal with having a monster try and control him, that had changed his body into something he could no longer recognize. 

But then bad things kept happening, he was tortured, another (more human) monster tried to use him, and as he did with Peter, Scott found a way to overcome said monster. Once again, by outsmarting Gerard, as he’d outsmarted Peter. By coming up with a plan when Derek still didn’t have any. By pretending to play along with Gerard’s blackmail, when Gerard was threatening Scott’s Mom, and yet all along refusing to actually betray Derek, even when it would have been safer and far easier for him to just tell Gerard where Derek’s hide out was.

One of the things I love about Scott, is how he’s never black and white, he doesn’t take the easy way out, by just killing the enemy, if there are other solutions. Because he understands shades of grey, and realizes that sometimes a monster is actually a victim.  Like Jackson was, like Stiles was in s3b, like the chimeras were in s5. That killing ‘the enemy’ is only a short term solution, that will cause more trouble later. Who prefer to heal and take pain over hurting others. And always willing to try for diplomacy before violence

And by being forgiving, ever so forgiving, to the point that even by s5 he believed that even someone like peter still had to have some good in him. Only without ever letting Peter manipulate him.

It’s just so rare to have heroes who become kinder over time, instead of harsher, who become more willing to respect life, even that of the enemy, rather than less.

Main characters, protagonists who grow, and mature, like Scott did, are just amazing, characters who learn from their mistakes, who got called out on it when they did something wrong, accept their mistakes, take responsibility even when something isn’t their fault and still try to do better, ... that’s the kind of characters I watch television for, that hold my interest in fandom, that make me hope for more and better in the real world.

How could I not love a character like that?

I’ve Got You - Stiles Stilinski x Reader (2/?)

Summary: After being rescued from an unknown enemy, Y/N and Stiles grow closer whilst dealing with trauma and a lingering threat.  (post-high school AU where Scott, Allison, Stiles, and Y/N are roommates)

When Stiles finished brushing his teeth, he stepped into the hallway where he could see Y/N’s door open, two rooms down from his.  He approached it and knocked twice on the doorframe.  Y/N looked up from where she sat cross-legged on the bed above the covers, wearing the soft-looking long sleeve grey shirt and black cropped leggings she had changed into after showering when they came home earlier.

“Hey. Just checking if you need anything,” Stiles said, stepping just into the room. “Do you have enough blankets? Or -”

“I think I’m good,” Y/N said.  Stiles couldn’t quite read her expression.  “Thanks, Stiles.”

“All right,” he said, bracing his forearm on the doorframe, trying to think of the right thing to say to prolong his stay in her presence.  But he drew a blank, and so settled on saying, “If you need anything just shout. Or shoot me a text if you’re too tired to shout.”

Stiles thought he spied the ghost of a smile playing around the corners of Y/N's mouth, but it didn’t quite get there.  Not yet.  Instead she just said, “Okay.”

“Okay,” Stiles repeated.  He stood there for a beat before turning to leave and saying, “Try to get some rest.”

“Stiles?”

He stopped in his tracks.  “Yeah?”

When he turned back to Y/N, her cheeks were pink. She glanced down at her hands, gripping the bedding, and her blush deepened as she said, “Could you stay?”

Stiles forgot how to speak.

Y/N looked up at him when he didn’t answer, and she seemed so vulnerable, so haunted as she whispered, “I don’t want to be alone.”

Stiles swallowed, but his voice still cracked when he finally said, “O - Of course.”

Y/N’s shoulders sagged in relief.  “Thanks.  You can have the couch if you want.”

Stiles nodded, still unable to look away from her.  “Let me just go grab my things.  I’ll be right back.”

He dashed out of the room and into the hallway.  When he reached his own room, he scrambled to grab his phone charger, a water bottle, and a blanket from his bed.  He left just as quickly as he had entered, however he had to whirl back around when he realized he didn't have a pillow.  Then, arms full, he moved back into the hall, pausing halfway to Y/N’s room to calm himself down.

She needs moral support right now.  You need to chill.

Taking a deep, steadying breath, Stiles stepped back into Y/N's room, awkwardly using his foot to close the door slightly behind him. He looked at Y/N over his pillow and gave her a little smile and nod in greeting.  Then, he went to dump his stuff on the grey couch positioned against the wall next to her bed.

Stiles could feel her eyes on him as he hovered over the couch, debating which end to place his pillow at.  He glanced towards Y/N’s bed and saw that her pillow was nearest the couch, so Stiles opted to place his on the opposite side to give her space.

“Sorry," Y/N said then, and Stiles could practically hear her wincing. "I just realized it's probably too short for you."

“Nah, I’ll be fine,” Stiles said, eyeing the length of the couch which indeed looked like his feet would be hanging off of. He was second guessing his choice of pillow placement as he said,  “I’ve slept on worse.”

“All right, if you’re sure...”

Stiles plopped himself down on the couch and looked over at Y/N who was hugging a pink throw pillow to her chest, a tiny furrow between her brows. Stiles' heart swelled. “I’m sure.”

Y/N gave a little nod and crawled over the end of her comforter to get under it.  Stiles looked away, his own cheeks heating up at the intimacy of it all.  He’d been in her room before, sure, but never just the two of them.  Especially at night.  In their pajamas.

He swallowed again.  “Should I get the light?”

“Sure.”

Stiles leaned across the couch to flip the light switch, shrouding the room in shadows.  Feeling his way back down onto the couch, he spread his blanket over his legs.  Then, he laid back, arms folded behind his head, and stared up at the ceiling, willing his pulse to slow the hell down.  With the lights off, the sound of his heart beat seemed to amplify in his own head.  He felt almost sure that Y/N could hear it too.

But she said nothing, and a few otherwise quiet minutes passed, until he heard Y/N let out a shaky breath.   Her voice cut through the darkness. 

“Allison told me you were the one who tracked where I was.  Stiles, I... I don’t know how I can ever thank you enough.”

Her voice broke on the last words.

Stiles rolled onto his side to look at her.  “You don’t ever need to thank me.  Not finding you was never an option for us.”

What he really meant, and wanted to say, was ‘never an option for me’, but he held back.

When Y/N didn’t respond, Stiles continued.  “I know you would have done the same for any of us.  I’m just glad you’re home.”

Y/N’s voice was thick when she replied, “Me too.”

“Try to get some sleep, okay?” Stiles said.

“Okay.”

But over the next few hours, Stiles could tell that she was awake as he was, tossing and turning every so often, until he finally managed to drift off to sleep.

Teen Wolf is actually my favorite show of all time so...I can't help myself I'm doing top 3 favorites and top 3 least IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER i can't choose between my 3 loves-

Okay, here we go! Hope this is to your liking anon!

Favorites:

Stiles Stillinski(but especially Void):

Ohhh Stiles. Dylan O'Brien is still my favorite actor of all time to this day for this role. The one actor I follow and watch every movie he's in. What a genius. I'm serious.

His body language? Spot on. Expressions? Memorable as heck. Line delivery? Amazing. Acting ability? Astronomical.

Normal Stiles already had such a fucking RANGE; from sarcastic and funny to depressed to excitable to hateful. Ugh. Brilliant. And then Void came in and it was like something in him literally snapped. I've still never seen anything like it. He looks so...so at home in his role as Void. Part of what makes him unnerving as shit in my opinion.

Truly masterful.

...and yet another one to owe my fear kink to after Scream and Billy Loomis. Blame him for Void being in Tainting Purity. Important to note that although his name is Void and he uses Dylan O'Brien as a face claim he actually isn't the one from the show. He's still his own character. I just...had to use Dylan because he was so perfect. 😅

Allison Argent:

I made the tough decision to replace Aidens spot on this list with my girl. She's...so me it hurts. Her monologue about not wanting to weak is still something I'll go watch when I feel lost. All the female characters of this show helped shape a lil piece of who I am but she had the biggest relatability at first and damn did it stick. Right to the very end. 😭

Issac Lahey:

So...Issac was a BIG self comfort for me. Nearly every character in this show can and is that for me but him especially shhh. Isaac's story deeply touched me with his father. I went through some stuff as you guys may have seen earlier today although not physical or half as intense as Issacs. It still served as this reminder that I wasn't alone.

And seeing him develop connections, slowly open up, fight through his trauma to create HIS family?

Damn. That shit got me.

Also; I may have been desperate to be ler'd and/or absolutely reamed by him and Aiden since that one scene in the track field. Curse my love of Bully/Bullied but sign me tf up- give me a protective, friend Issac which Aiden picks up on and then wants her for himself. Competition endues until eventual threesome at Readers behest.

Least Favorite(This kinda turned into a second fave list whoops-)

Little note that I find something to like in nearly every character so even the people here have good in some regard!

Gerard:

Ah Gerard. There from the beginning there to the end. What a crafty son of a gun...lucky for us Scott was craftier and had his friends to back him up hn?

His first use with the Kanima was probably my favorite but he was just...so evil ugh. And not in the good way. It was between him and Monroe and he won out since he was around so much longer.

Peter:

...Peter is that guy everyone hates to love but does anyway XD. His dry sarcasm and banter with Stiles are iconic- BUT his morals are grey as shitttttt. And he's selfish as Hell. Which I mean, fair. But still.

Theo:

Okay I needed to get my evil sadist baby on the list somehow okay-!? I fear him and I love that he makes me scared and feeds my filthy fear kink gonna be honest. Was in love from the very first twist scene with his "parents". Need to be wrecked by him and Void yesterday!

...maybe I have a lil bit of a villain threesome need with this show whoops 🤷‍♀️

Honorable mention to Ducalion because Gideon Emery is another fave of mine(him, Cody(Theo) and Tyler(Derek) actually just worked together on FF7 remake fun fact. I screamed and was so proud they all killed it!) And his ark was AMAZING. That ending with Scott? PLEASE.

Same to Ethan, and more begrudgingly Jackson. Didn't really earn it thanks to the lack of screen time but I'll give it to 'im cause of Ethan and that iconic scene from the last season as well as their chemistry.

Let's see...oh Derek and Lydia of course. Scott as well as Melissa. Gods, Chris too...too many good characters like I said 🤣.

...Also Danny. My baby boy deserved better. Much as I loved my 2nd gay baby Corey Danny was the OG and we never got any explanation for why he knew about supes. I headcanon that he's a Seer personally!

Okay this got super long! Hope you like it dear anon like I said it's my fave show so fee free to ask anything you like! I have tons of fandoms guys so chat me up about Miraculous Ladybug, Undertale, Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2(haven't finished 1 yet but have 2), Scream(horror in general), and Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts and Zelda games!
