Irgendwelche Tips für LARP-Interessierte? Also, außer "Nicht bei Legion starten" ofc
Hm. Wenn du gleich im klassischen Mittelalter/Fantasy-Setting mit einem eigenen Charakter loslegst, nimm einen Charakter der dir Spaß macht. Also, klingt offensichtlich.

idk if you still want uk tips, but here they are if you do:
people will be weird and/or excited about your accent, especially people who live near you
brits love a budget german supermarket, lidl and aldi have a lot of fans in the cost of living crisis
gp visits are a nightmare, and if you're moving from another country there will be LOADS of paperwork, but you should get signed up with a surgery ASAP - also, you can go to the pharmacy for a lot of stuff
queue culture - we love standing in lines
if you don't like tea, don't bother (lots of us don't) but it's a pretty big cultural thing so give it a go (we're such a nation of tea drinkers that the national grid [electricity] has to compensate for the number of kettles we use daily
wear whatever you like - nobody really cares
if you drive, you'll need to retake the test for UK roads
greggs is the iconic lunchtime place for mid tier pastries (sweet and savoury) and lunches
also, pie in the UK is typically savoury, filled with meat and/or veg and gravy
meal deals - a sandwich, crisps/chocolate/another snack, and a drink - are absolutely everywhere and an incredibly common lunch
we love double carbs - chip butty anyone?
fish fingers are such a good food that i don't think americans have? baked beans are nice but you can add spices/flavourings to them
you don't have to like marmite - if you try it, ONLY HAVE A SMALL AMOUNT. any american who puts a full spoon of marmite in their mouth is basically unknowingly undertaking the british cinnamon challenge
basically everywhere has a chippy (fish and chip shop), at least one curry place (thanks, colonisation(!)), and a chinese. curry's almost always good, chippies can vary, and be VERY careful with the chinese, because they're iconic for food poisoning (although absolutely delicious as well)
all restaurants have a food hygiene rating on the front door - 3 or less is questionable
find out if you qualify for any travelcards and get familiar with your local public transport - buses are often late, coaches are typically on time, trains often don't come at all
seriously. don't take the train if you can POSSIBLY help it - it's BONKERS expensive and often cancelled and replaced with a coach
know a bit about uk geography, if poss - lots of usamericans don't seem to know what wales is, or how north and republic of ireland are different
main tv networks are channel 4, itv, sky, and the bbc. c4 & itv are free with ads, sky requires a subscription, and the bbc is free but can only be watched by households with a tv licence (if using iplayer, the bbc's website, you can just lie about this, but there's a whole debate about whether they can/will catch you - look up tv detector vans)
british people end their texts with 'x'. it is NOT FLIRTING, we literally do it to everyone and often you'll get two or three - it's basically a punctuation mark. don't look into it
york specifically is like the north ? with emphasis on the question mark. england has a lot of perceived cultural differences between the north and the south, with the south stereotypically richer, ruder, entitled, busy, unfriendly, and the north stereotypically more rural, insular, prejudiced, and working class. it's not always true, and afaik york's a pretty afluent area, but it's something to be aware of
ahhhhh you are so kind, thank you for sending me all this! unfortunately, I am no longer moving to the uk because I was tragically fucked over by the university, so I'm moving to canada now. but if I ever end up moving to the uk after getting my master's (which is not out of the question!) this advice is incredibly useful, thank you so much for going into such detail, I really appreciate :')

Anybody get stressed about Christmas Dinner ? Read this from a butcher,
I’ve pinched this, but it’s fab!!
😂Just in case anyone is stressing about Christmas Day..............! 😂
Here's my top tip
🎄Christmas Dinner....
I have concluded that the inevitable stress of Christmas dinner is created by adverts, supermarkets and TV chefs...
It's a Sunday dinner for goodness sake!!!
The only difference is that you are allowed to open a bottle of wine before you open the kitchen curtains. 🍷🍷🍷
🙄We do it quite happily 51 weeks of the year but can we the consumers be trusted to manage by ourselves on one day of the year...apparently not!
Here goes...💓
1. Turkey... It's a big fecking chicken that's all, 20 minutes per lb plus 20 minutes at 180 degrees - jobs a good un! Get yourselves a meat thermometer £3 off the Internet poke it in the offending bird if it says 75 degrees or over its cooked!👏🏼
2. Stuffing - regardless of what Jamie Oliver says you do NOT need 2lbs of shoulder of pork, onions breadcrumbs, pine nuts and a shit load of fresh herbs to make stuffing....( no fecking wonder he's bankrupt if thats what he spends to make stuffing!)😜
What you need is Paxo and a kettle!! If you wanna liven it up squeeze 3 sausages out of their skins and mix that in with your Paxo before cooking 😉.
3. Gravy - Jamie Oliver is copping for this one aswell....
Bisto Jamie.... All you need is Bisto!
I ( nor anyone else I know) has got time on Christmas Eve to piss about roasting chicken wings and vegetables, adding stock and flour, cooking it for another half hour, mashing it all up with a potato masher and then straining the whole sorry mess to make gravy 😠😠😠
4. Vegetables...🍆 Never mind faffing round shredding sprouts and frying them with bacon and chestnuts to make them more palatable... If you don't like them don't buy and cook the fecking things!! If your family only eats frozen peas then that's good enough!
5. Roast potatoes... Yes I par boil mine then roast them in goose fat but Aunt Bessie also does the same 😉.
6. Trimmings /Christmas pudding and the like.... Aldi or Lidl!
(oh and while we're on the subject of pudding- if birds custard is what your family likes on the wretched thing then that's fine - you do not need brandy butter /rum sauce etc or anything else that costs a fecking fortune and takes 2 hours to make!)
7. Family....
Children.. Feed the little blighters first separately, if they only want turkey with tomato sauce - fine leave em to it, it doesn't matter. Once they are fed bugger them off to play with their Christmas presents so that YOU can enjoy your dinner in Peace!
Adults... Anyone that can manage to get their sorry arse to your dinner table is also capable of helping to serve up/ sort the kids out/ clear the table /wash up /dry up etc.
And Finally.....
NO ONE.... And I mean no one APART FROM THE COOK IS ALLOWED TO GET PISSED AND FALL ASLEEP BEFORE THE WASHING UP IS DONE!!!
Rant over 😂
🎄Merry Christmas!🎄
Cheers 🍷🍷🍷 Getting you all in the mood.
(Source: FB)
@texasred43 and all you other Christmas nutters 😁😂😉 🤗😘

Art Supply Review: Crelando 36 Sketchmarker Set
Sometimes Ads on Apps are helpful because they showed me that Lidl had Alcohol Markers and i was like WHAAAAAAT!? I had to get them but first research!
But i only could find a Youtube Video that is in polish, and sadly i don´t speak polish (here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFa-r84r0VI ) .
I still watched it muted to see how they will look when you use this Markers. And they looked promising. Also they are super cheap, it was a no brainer.
German Price: 8,99 €
So lets see how i think this Markers work, after they arrived at my home.
Tumblr media
The Box they came in is pretty sturdy and has three separate compartments for the Markers to rest in.
Tumblr media
I sorted them by number( This set has 35 Markers + Colorless Blender)
Tumblr media
They have a Brush and a Chisel Tip, But only the Chisel Side has the Number and Color name printed on the cap. The Brush tip has a triangle symbol on it.
Tumblr media
First i tested them in my mixed media sketchbook, the chisel side was a bit dry compared to the brush side but i guess its because the markers where stored upright and not on the side like recommended. Over time i think this will become not a problem anymore.
Tumblr media
The range of colors is pretty mediocre, a few more yellows would be nice and it really needs more midtones in general. Skin Tones are not really possible.
Tumblr media
Then i grabbed my Ohuhu Marker Sketchbook, swatched again and also did a blending test. they blend pretty good so it is really a shame that their are not enough midtones to use. i use the tip to tip method to get a better range of colors. The colors are also way more vibrant on this paper.
Result: They are good Markers for beginners because the Brush and Chisel Tip are very good for this price point and better as some from other cheap brands.
You also could use them for backgrounds or flat colors befor you use your better markers over them. I can recommend them.
I think i will use them for sketching so i cansave my Ohuhu markers for serious artworks.
All in all i hope this little review was helpful, i might do more in the future :)
Lidl Germany: https://www.lidl.de/p/crelando-sketchmarker-36-farben/p100353388
( I´m pretty sure if you search in your Country, that has Lidl, that they also have this Markers ;D )
here is the test Artwork of my Oni OC Pomidor

Questions/concerns is about newsies and food things. So woodside/Richmond is mostly sold out cuz dumbdumb me waited too long firstly is the back section still good and secondly do you have any tips on where is best (there's a few particular actors im wondering about) so so do you also have suggestions on food to try?
Joy is some things I found out!! Like that where I'm sitting the one night Samuel might wave at me!
Manhattan is good! You get a full view of the stage and everywhere else the actors will go, so no turning round in your seat. If you can get closer to the front the actors will be right in front of you, and Matthew Duckett hands out I believe five papers during the Carrying The Banner reprise, so if you can get front-row Manhattan that's a good spot!
I'm not the best person to ask regarding food I'm afraid as I have very extreme sensory restrictions😅 If you're in need of places to get food whilst in London there's a McDonald's right next to the theatre, and I believe it's a Lidl next to that? So you've got some options
And that's v exciting!! If you're going in costume they often interact if they spot you, I've had some fun interactions when I've gone XD

Rail traffic came to a complete halt in Finland on Monday, following the failure of last-minute negotiations to settle the labour dispute between the railway workers' union RAU and the state railway operator VR.
As Helsingin Sanomat reports (siirryt toiseen palveluun), the strike completely stopped local train traffic as well.
The strike does not however affect metro drivers, so Helsinki's metro is running as normally. The same goes for buses, trams and the Suomenlinna ferry.
Tuija Ruoho of the Helsinki Regional Transport Authority (HSL) told the paper that the HSL website provides tips on how to find a replacement connection, including a list of buses that run from train stations to the centre of the city.
The director of passenger and operator services for the nationwide Matkahuolto bus transport company, Anu Pekurinen, said on Friday that the operator had not as yet decided whether additional buses would be provided during the rail strike.
Petteri Rantala, commercial director of Onnibus, one of Finland's largest long-distance transport operators, told HS that the company does not have the human resources to organize extra shifts for drivers.
Late Sunday, authorities reminded commuters that not all traffic on the rail network has stopped due to the strike. Maintenance and track work is continuing on the rail network as normal, so drivers should still take care and watch out for trains at level crossings.
Three families and a cat
Late last year, Finland offered to take in 100 Ukrainian refugees from Estonia per week.
Iltalehti tells readers (siirryt toiseen palveluun) that moving from Estonia to Finland has however not interested Ukrainian refugees at all. IL writes that over the last two months, only three Ukrainian families and one cat have resettled to Finland from Estonia.
Liis Paloots, head of the Estonian Social Insurance Board's immigration service, says that the reason for Ukrainian refugees' reluctance to move to Finland may be that refugees are placed in reception centres in Finland.
"These people would be bound to the reception centre for 12 months. Estonia, on the other hand, has prioritized the fact that people become independent as soon as possible. This includes the right to various benefits to facilitate the search for a permanent place of residence when a person has received a residence permit, instead of living in reception centres or other places provided by the state," Paloots told the Estonian public broadcaster ERR.
Refugees who have arrived in Estonia and have not yet applied for international protection are offered the opportunity to move to Finland, but there has been almost no interest in making the move.
"People rather say that they came to Estonia because they have relatives, friends or acquaintances here. Recently, we have also been told that many people have a job waiting," Paloots added.
The number of Ukrainians applying for international protection in Estonia, has stabilized at around 200 applications per week, Iltalehti reports.
Light-fingered shoppers
Ilta-Sanomat writes (siirryt toiseen palveluun)that the number of incidents of shoplifting in Finland began to show a rise at the end of the last decade, with around 50,000 cases reported to the police in 2020.
According to Statistics Finland's most recent crime statistics, most shoplifting takes place in the province of Uusimaa, including the capital region, where approximately 20,000 shoplifting reports are made to the police per year.
Stores have implemented special arrangements for certain products to deter shoplifting. For example, the Lidl retail chain says that in some of its stores products have been shifted from the shelves to checkout counters. These products vary by store, but include, for example, vitamins, parmesan cheese, alcoholic beverages and razor blades.
Some anti-theft measures go to extremes. Petri Miettinen, director of Tripla Mall's K-Market and K-Supermarket stores, says that it was decided to completely remove large instant coffee refills.
"More of them were stolen than sold," Miettinen notes, adding that thieves are interested in more valuable products for which there is a secondary market. In addition, some goods are stolen for personal use.
When asked by Ilta-Sanomat what more unusual items items interest shoplifters, Miettinen answered without a moment's hesitation.
"Baby oil. Our loss is really, really, really high. To this day, I haven't figured out what it's being used for, but I have a hard time imagining it going into normal use."
Campaign vandals
The farmers' union paper Maaseudun Tulevaisuus (siirryt toiseen palveluun)reports that campaign posters promoting candidates in the 2 April parliamentary election have been the target of vandalism around the country.
The paper says that Finns Party posters were torn down in front of the City Hall in Tampere. Vandals have also targeted election ads of the SDP and the Greens in Ylöjärvi, in the Pirkanmaa region, and in North Savo roadside billboards for the campaign of a NCP candidate were riddled by airgun pellets. Similar vandalism has also been reported in Seinäjoki and Riihimäki.
The paper also reports that a campaign event by Centre Party candidate Mikko Kärnä was disrupted in central Helsinki by social media video producers posing as anti-vaccine citizen journalists.
Spring still being coy
Looking at the weather this coming week, Hufvudstadsbladet (siirryt toiseen palveluun)writes that temperatures are forecast to be somewhat warmer than the average for the time of year, but it doesn't look like the trend will last long.
The week will bring rain, sleet or snow and night frosts.
The paper quotes FMI meteorologist Juha Tuomala as saying that the thermal spring will be late this year. That is when the average daily temperature is above freezing for one week straight.

costco tips from a 'murrican; because they specialize in big fuckoff wodges of stuff, anything perishable is going to be more expensive than a standard grocery store, because they need to preserve huge amounts of it in bulk. the cheap comes into play for long-term stuff. bag of snacks the size of your torso? bottle of oyster sauce you could drown finland in? forklift-required pallet of tuna cans? so many lentils they're forming an accretion disk under their own gravity? yes to all, and generally significantly cheaper than nearby stores. I dunno if it's the same over there but I figure a company with a CEO who threatened to kill someone for suggesting they raise the price of hotdogs probably has a pretty hardline stance on pricing everywhere they can get.
even so i can buy the products cheaper because most of them are branded
I did buy a big pack of tortillas because it was like 2.50 for 3 packets which isn't awful but still more expensive than lidl
I spent £47 and £18 of that was on a bottle of rum xd

Starting a little birdwatching journal :) I got a pocket bird ID handbook in town today and went to look at some shore birds!
I identified some great black backed gulls floating and feeding on the sea, a lesser black backed gull taking a nap on top of a lamp post, a couple of house martins flittering back and forth between rocks, a scraggly looking rook grooming on a lamp post and a large brown bird with a longish neck that I couldn't make the features of very well, but maybe a great or arctic skua?
Stood there for about 15 minutes trying to identify what I thought was a bird, and what I thought was a male hen harrier, but it was, in fact, a chimney pipe
As I was typing the above I saw a gull-like bird that was mostly black with a white head but I couldn't figure out what it was :( However I did also see two black headed gulls out of breeding season ambling on a pond near the coast and more scraggly looking rooks on a low beach hut roof!
I also spent like 15 minutes standing by a bush on the side of the sidewalk trying to ID a tiny bird with a really distinct "tweep" call, an unpatterned brown back and black wing tips. Gonna try to look it up later, my book didn't have anything that matched.
And now I have wandered to the other side of town and I am So hungry so I am going to conclude my birdwatching here and go to lidl to get a pizzini and then try to find a bus home
Note to self: bring binoculars next time

Just wanted to pass on a tip I got given for lower surgery and which has been a lifesaver these last 2 weeks following my operation. Moist toilet paper! its soo nice to use and leaves you clean without worrying about water getting on your dressing/wounds, especially important if you get side effects from antibiotics/laxatives messing with your guts. I got mine from lidl its like 70p for a 42 sheet packet.
Thanks for sharing.
