Q4OS – I setup for myself Linux with Trinity

I setup a Linux for myself. For not powerful system. With my Acer Extensa. It has two cores with 1.5 ghz. And 4gb of ram. I select in result – Q4OS. As light Linux. For not powerful systems. With its own graphic environment. It is easier, lighter. It has a name Trinity. Firm development from system’s authors. Special for this purpose – to system not to require lots of resources. And it is very good for me.

With author`s website you to download distributive. It is written with flash as a boot. One little moment, check carefully. There are, also, Live CD images. It is for run system from device. Like flash or compact disk. And, there are for setup, install. So, for install, you need this version to download. I was not accurate and first, download Live Cd. And, I see – I cannot find option to install. But, you can run system at once! I was surprised. I see what is it. And, I start to understand, what is it all about.

Installation process. It is simple and easy. Nothing tricky. Nothing hard. This is good. Installation is friendly to the user. We are moving with steps of installation. And after - system, at last, launching. It is, already, installed. It is good to check updates. What is here. All is automatically checked by itself. It has a name packages for Linux. Lists with packages. You just need to start a certain purpose program. This means network is required. Without internet you cannot to do updates.

And, later, with manager packages. You start it and see what it can show you. So, it has lots of different. I am not expert with Linux. I take it as a probe. I setup for myself a whole pack, preset for packages. Little game. It is Chocolate Doom with some pack. So, this is not only Chocolate Doom. And, also, some files included. To have all included. So, it includes FreeDoom. And this is comfortable! So, you can start to play at once. To play. Levels for FreeDoom are unique. Even, its own graphics. But, mainly, it is same Doom.

Once again, I am not expert with Linux. And, better say, I try to try this with my own. But funny thing it is. Installer is looking like it is MS DOS. So, it has such install line. And, system itself. It reminds Windows. Level Windows Xp or even like Windows 98, maybe. Such background, similar color. And windows forms.

Interesting moment! Visually, I like a lot this Trinity scheme for desktop. About functions it is very good. I am very surprised. There are lots of things here. And main - there package manager. Using it to update. And install. And this is comfortable. For start – it is good way.

Visual side looks like something Windows 98 with plus. I like a lot this visual side. Functions are good. And now it is my first launch. I little about to play Doom. I visit websites with browser. First launch was successful! And positive!

iron (hardware) and programs. From time to time i restore computers, retro computers. Try retro soft. Check some programs. And write about all of these.
Dima Link is making retro videogames, apps, a little of music, write stories, and some retro more.

Zorin OS's auto-brightness feature has this bug that I like to call "Brightness Runaway," where, if it's semi-dark in the room you're in, loading a webpage with a Light Mode UI will throw enough light onto you (and the things around you) that Zorin OS will think it suddenly got brighter in the room.
That causes the auto-brightness to raise itself, which causes more light to be thrown into the room. That causes the auto-brightness to think it got even brighter, which causes it to raise the brightness even more.
The brighter it gets, the more auto-brightness tries to raise the brightness, and the more auto-brightness tries to the raise the brightness, the brighter it gets, so eventually you end up sitting there like:

★ 148 // “Tux Paint”
#jojo's bizarre adventure#jjba#steel ball run#sbr#johnny joestar#offerings#tools used:#tux paint#// Yeeeeah buddy TWO offerings today!#I think one of my siblings had a Linux computer growing up and Tux Paint was installed on it because the interface felt familiar#Can't say I've drawn extensively in this program though. Lot of surprisingly decent brushes and features in it though!#It's nice to mess around with a new digital toolbox#I really cannot help myself making starry neon and sparkly ass Johnnys!!!#This was a ice excuse to try out different colors and shading. I'm a big fan of low neon lighting where skin appears pinkish in hue.

hellooo very cool person I am just now getting into the atla fandom and I know Nothing other than your fics are very cool and great and I was wondering if you have any recs (or links to posts with recs!!) bc I trust your judgment LOL
I hope this is ok to ask!! also I will add that I am not that picky but I will add that I am very much a longfic enjoyer so🫶🫶
My friend, may I open up to you the broad world of clicking an AO3 user's bookmarks. <3
AKA: literally click any ao3 username, "bookmarks" should appear towards the top of the resulting page. You can then voyage into the additionally wonderful waters of filtering by length, "recommended", fandom, etc.
Also: if the fic you like is in collections, try checking them out, especially if the title appeals to you. Can be a great way to find essentially a fic playlist.
Anyway all hail ao3's designers they done good work
#Oh for an internet designed purely by people for people#Not by people who want money for people who are about to have less money#AO3 you are a light onto my days#In other but thematically related news I'm researching the switch to Linux#Because new laptop came with Windows 11 and if I need to learn command line edits to get this functional#(read: not actively hostile)#I might as well finally make the switch to the computer system not designed to maximize my suffering#Reading their list of recommended programs was hilarious because I literally use all of them instead of the Windows ones already#Go go free and open programs go#ao3

Perfecting my analog double-exposure text overlay! Though I don't know if you can call it entirely analog, since I photographed the terminal of my (very digital) laptop for the text portion.
Camera: Pentax MX Film: Ilford HP5+ (shot at 1600, pushed 2 stops in development) Developer: Flic Film Black/White & Green (1+49 dilution, 22 minutes at 70°F) Text: Long-term nuclear waste warning messages
#i love love love how this came out even though the film got fogged by light leaking thru my bathroom door while i was developing it#i wanna shoot more hp5 i love the tones#in case you wanna get super granular the terminal is kitty and the font is firacode#the shell is fish and the prompt is starship and i'm running arch linux on a modded chromebook :)#my photography#analog photography#double exposure#ilford hp5

Discover the All-New HOUSE OF LIGHT DLC for BOOK OF HOURS

BOOK OF HOURS DLC launches into HOUSE OF LIGHT combat-free crafting RPG game for Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. All thanks to the creative minds at Weather Factory. Available on both Steam and GOG with 91% Very Positive reviews. The new DLC for BOOK OF HOURS backs one of 2023's unexpected indie gems. It’s a quirky, quiet game where you manage an occult library, and despite its unusual theme, it made quite an impact, selling over 44,000 copies in its first month on Steam. Now, it has crossed 100,000 copies sold and boasts a solid 92% positive rating. Pretty impressive for a two-person indie team! But they’re not done yet – they’re back with a huge update called HOUSE OF LIGHT, packed with tons of fresh content for Linux players to dive into.
BOOK OF HOURS launch trailer (before HOUSE OF LIGHT DLC)
youtube
What’s HOUSE OF LIGHT all about? It’s Europe, 1937. A war is brewing, and not just the kind we know – there’s something darker on the horizon, something called the War in the Sun. As tensions rise, the shadowy figures of the occult world are searching for new allies, new power, and new plans. And who better to help them than the Librarian of Hush House? In this DLC, you’ll get to explore visitors’ stories in more depth in BOOK OF HOURS. Who throw lavish feasts, host fancy soirées, and help shape the beginnings of the Lighthouse Institute. The crafting RPG is all about making your mark in this mystical world.
So, what’s new in the update?
Cooking Up a Storm: Get creative in the kitchen with nearly 100 new dishes. You’ll be combining ingredients, sustenance, and kitchen tools across three different workstations to whip up these unique meals.
A New Writing-Case: In this DLC you can now keep track of the visitors you’ve helped by saving their calling cards in BOOK OF HOURS. Write to them, invite them back, and build stronger connections with those who pass through Hush House.
Salons: Ready to throw a party? Set up food and drinks in one of the six salon rooms, ring the bell, and start a Salon. If you do it right, you’ll get treated to great conversations and useful Lessons.
Writing Manuscripts: With some paper, ink, and a skill, you can now create Manuscripts. These will come in handy when visitors need specific knowledge, and the Lessons from your Salons will help sharpen your skills for even better writing.
The Lighthouse Institute: Once your visitors are ready, guide them to the lighthouse. There, they can help establish the true heirs to the Curia of the Isle.
Pricing and deals The BOOK OF HOURS HOUSE OF LIGHT DLC is priced at $13.49 USD / £11.69 / 12,59€ with the 10% off launch discount for the first week. Available on on both Steam and GOG. If you already own the Perpetual Edition, you’ll get it for free. And to sweeten the deal, the crafting RPG is 30% off on Steam Daily Deal, its biggest discount yet, the same on GOG. The sale runs from 26th September at 10AM PDT to 3rd October. If you're new to the game, you can also grab the Anthology Edition bundle, which gives you 15% off BOOK OF HOURS, HOUSE OF LIGHT, and the soundtrack. Available on Linux, Mac, and Windows PC.

ughhhhhhh my shitty chromebook stopped booting but all of my recovery stuff says the hardware is fine but every time i try to install some garbage debian based os to just try and get something i can use libreoffice and firefox on the installer quits with no log and an error that nobody seems tl have ever gotten with this installer program before and like the fact that it boots at all even just from live is better than nothing but i'm so fuckin tired i just want this thing to work
#also generally: the fact that linux overall reports file copies as complete when 99% of the file is in cached ram#is REALLY FUCKING STUPID#like i'm copying iso after iso to a slowass usb stick and it's like ~3 seconds “Done :)”#but the light on the stick keeps flashing for ~5 minutes like#hot take it should not tell you it's done copying until it's done copying
