i’ve always told myself “have no heroes” because idolizing ppl is risky business, but i really looked up to techno. his content helped me when i was going through a really rough time in my life. techno was a hero, and it pisses me off that this is how it had to end. but isn’t techno the one that said, “good things don’t happen to heroes”?

i’ve been told that someone isn’t truly dead until their name is spoken for the last time, so…technoblade never dies.

i took a lot of time last night because i need to be able to talk about my feelings on this topic without feeling guilty. i only started watching mcyt 4-5 months ago, i used to be into it years ago, i would watch stampy cat with my brother. then recently i found it again and so did my brother. it’s kind of how i bond with him, we talk about new uploads and things. i still feel guilty because i feel like i don’t deserve to be this upset over what’s happened. i curled up into a little ball and cried for about an hour. i have a very bad headache now and i’m guessing i’m dehydrated.

i want ppl to respect content creators space right now. techno touched a lot of people and everyone is gonna need time, alright? even us, people who just watch, even if you’ve never met techno, it’s okay to be upset about this. it’s okay to cry, crying helps. techno loved y’all a lot. hurting isn’t a bad thing.

just remember to hold the people u love close while they’re still around. tell people you love them all the time. i don’t think we say ‘i love you’ enough honestly. squeeze them extra tight right now pls

grief consumes us in undefinable, unpredictable ways. there is no right way to grieve. if you cry, that’s fine, let it out. if you use humor to cope, hey me too, that’s fine. if you shut down, i understand, just make sure you let some ppl know how you’re doing. take your time, write things, make art. art has always come from grief, destruction, and death, but it celebrates life. please don’t stop creating if that’s how you cope. don’t stop writing about him. don’t stop drawing him. keep him alive through your art. please take a break if you need it, but if you come back, keep it going <3

i saw the video ten minutes after it was uploaded, my first though was “oh he’s quitting youtube? that’s too bad” but god i really wish that was the case. i saw the comments before the video even started. i kept hoping someone would tell me this was some sick joke or that i was dreaming, but obviously that didn’t happen.

-interlude where i watched night at the museum and then got four hours of sleep-

i’ve woken up now, i wish it wasn’t real. my mind keeps going back to techno when he said “you wouldn’t know my house, it goes to another school” and it’s such an strange moment and i’m not sure why i keep repeating it over and over in my head but it really just shows that technoblade was a light. he was so genuinely funny and it’s a shame that he’s gone.

i told my brother what happened and his reaction was to tell me that i was lying and that made me want to cry. then we watched the video together. i hadn’t watched the techno video yet, i don’t like sad things, i won’t watch them if i know it’s gonna make me cry. i still haven’t finished the video.

its been good to laugh with him. i didn’t think it would hit me this hard.

i’ve been saying “see you on the other side” a lot more now. it’s something my english teacher/speech coach taught me. she’s this super badass woman and she’s helped me so much. she used to be in the peace corps and she said they would never say goodbye, they would always say see you on the other side. i’ve been trying to not say goodbye so much anymore, but instead learn from her. goodbyes are so little, yknow, it’s an end. but “see you on the other side”? that keeps going. i don’t know if that makes sense to anyone except me, my brain tends to work a bit goofy, but it’s like saying no matter what happens, i’ll see you again.

it’s like that song, remember the one by charlie puth? it goes like “i’ll tell you all about it when i see you again”. i used to cry to that song years ago, but i haven’t even thought about listening to it yet. i don’t think i will. i think that’ll be too difficult right now.

i grew up in a religious household. i’m not really religious anymore. i practice paganism/wicca sometimes, but that’s unimportant. just from what i know about heaven and hell and god, god wouldn’t have hesitated for a second. technoblade belongs in heaven. he was the nicest, kindest person i’ve ever known. i know techno is up there 1v1ing god rn, and we all know he’s gonna beat him.

you know what fucks with my head the most about all of this? the fact that techno’s dad was like “you’ve given them so much already, you can rest now” and techno wrote the last video then died 8 hours later. scientifically i know it’s not really probable that he waited to go until that last video was done, but isn’t that strange? maybe it does work like that. techno touched so many people, and he felt like he had to give us one last thing, and then he could rest. it hurts my heart and my head a lot. death really fucks with my brain bc i always feel like i need to control/understand everything, but i don’t know what comes after death. that scares me. but i hope whatever the fuck comes after treats technoblade well, because he was one of the good ones.

i think a lot of people feel the same way you do now (me included.) it feels really good at the time but alter we can see the dynamics playing out. i’m 29 now and i think aging is just such a huge process. it’s wild how you at 31 are a totally different person, right?

and the US racism is probably some of the worst ever in its iteration because of slavery which started from europe etc but USA is so fucking unique bc of columbus bringing slaves here and displacing indigenous peoples or hispanola and because america is so influential the way it views race, particularly with black people as objects, has so deeply permeated into the current historical psyche globally. it’s fascinating to track how necessary anti blackness is to the flourishing of america but also the world at this point. also want to point out how fuckign scary sinophobia is here especially for covid. one is a straight historical line (black ppl + the US) and the other had to be manufactured and to continue to exploit the non-white americans and keep antiblackness in tact.i could go on about this all day. the pain of this place is immense.yet as bad as it is here, this is still the only place i truly feel safe as a black person. because of the unique experience we have in america and through the diaspora especially because we are veyr much ocncentrated here. it would be nice to like move to norway and have some alleviation financially or get free healthcare it’s just not feasible if no one looks like me. it’s fucking tough. 

i hope you don’t hate it here though and people treat you with respect. but as you know being a woman and jewish and an immigrant....shit is tough. the USA is a hellhole. :( america is so deeply tainted and desperately bad because it was founded on strife and blood and there’s no way to reverse that and what this country did in turn when it gained enough power and could capitalize off of the colonial forefathers. this is why we hsould all luv revolution!!!

boy oh boy oh BOY OH BOYYYYYYYY. well wlecome to the world of BL lmao especially as an adult with some obviously deep perspective just given your background. it is a fucking mess and it’s a hard mess to like but it pulls you in. i approach it like i do with soap operas since these are essentially telenovelas, you know? just like the drama at a billion. but the tricky part of that is like....what parts of it do we understand for critiquing? because so many of the shows are so bad at being like good pieces of things to look at just production wise and story wise. but i feel like these shows ask us to take them seriously, so why shouldn’t we take the content seriously? and this is being primarily peddled to young girls. 

i bring this up often but i read this thing about yaoi and the interest younger women/girls have in BL and its fascination with pederasty essentially. this component i think is key when we talk about who gets affected by these things the most. society in general is bad 4 girls bla bla we know lmao but in “more sexually conservative” societies it may be harder for these girls to feel safe even expressing normal emotions romantically and sexually and particularly with guys. some people hypothesized, and i think i agree with this hypothesis, that they can live through the casualness of BL. they don’t feel threatened because they can put themselves into the shoes of the other character. oftentimes, the more feminine or the younger. this was in conjunction with the age gap aspect (they say pederasty as well because there’s unethical age gaps that r gross and that is indeed what we would at least call a touch of sexual abuse if people dont feel like calling it an obsession with youth and power and uhhh young ppl and perhaps kids) where maybe girls could see themselves in these situations as the person being saved, loved, taken care of, and sadly also sexually active and penetrated. 

i think that’s just one aspect of it but i do think there’s validity in who gravitates towards it. i cannot imagine seeing this stuff and not getting enough information as a young kid, i sure as fuck know i didn’t!, and seeing these things and you look at it with 0 critique because you’re young and you may have no interest in it or you simply cannot understand what is wrong. no one is teaching you these things and these shows confirm it. and it is wild how intrinsic patriarchy is to BL although in its existence it also can’t be in line with patriarchy given the nature of two [cis] men!

it begs the question about the replacement aspect. is it just so girls can put themselves in these characters shoes? if so then that means we believe that gender is so interchangeable within our relationships and interactions and that doesn’t seem right. there’s more to lgbtq+ than just existing; it’s finding ways to communicate, finding a family, safety, your people, being a free person. there’s a lot to gain and a lot a lot to lose. and a gay man is also not a woman because those are also two distinct experiences.  especially in societies that have a more hidden aspect to sexuality (idk how to word this bc the BL industry would NEVER survive in america but in a way there’s a more “progressive” look at homosexuality but it’s still fucked up because we live in a Society, you know? at the same time look at what we are doing to trans kids. literally waging war so it’s bonkers how we all collectively have some real progress happening but at the same time not at all. the concept of ‘ladyboys’ and the frequency we see trans people in thai shows is wild and something that we absolutely do not see here in the US. still, none of these groups feel safe or are getting better material conditions in either place. we just show the ways we can try and tolerate oppression witout eliminating it imo)

to me it is clear: it’s money. which most things exist to make money so. but also who is the audience for these shows? and they have to market towards them. all that said all hope is not lost there are some decent shows. it’s just like regular media on TV though where it’s so fucking saturated as an industry that it’s literally sifting through garbage. and there are some days when you can handle the trash and others where it really fucking hurts to watch the violence, the rape, the manipulation, the violations, the stupid messaging. i have never seen more people trying to do mental gymnastics and seeing if things were “technically rape” than in teh BL fandom and that is so fucking sad.

i came into these shows at 28 with almost 0 clue of what as media BL was like esp as media that countries can use as soft power with the revenue. but i realize like...i’m 29 now and so many people don’t have a sizeable, though not huge, amount of life experience. and i wonder for people on the internet who are usually searching for something if they spend so much time on it like what a 15 year old girl thinks. what a 20 year old girl thinks. 

it is incredibly problematic and so awful but there’s also some rewards. if you haven’t i would definitely watch i told sunsset about you which i don’t think i’m going to finish and i doubt i’ll watch the second installment (watch this be a lie) but when i say some fucking impeccable storytelling and art? phew. now that is a fucking piece of media that works. it takes from moonlight heavily and you can see like...the artistic dedication is there and the story makes its world and sets up its stakes extremely well. 

i think because this is marketed towards much younger people too they know they dont have to try as hard. but they SHOULD because then you can have a fucking masterpiece like that. i think even this prolific gay thai filmmaker (who is like solidly against the government) who is so respected (and who i like a lot! if u wanna know i can tell u lmao but the films are very uhhhhhhhh “artsy”) would like i told sunset about you. i wish more people had budget like that and also just cared about the stories. it’s the fucking magic of art to figure out what you can do but there is very little incentive honestly. idk i am very pessimistic. there are days when it’s really a great pick me up and distraction but it is never a place i would love for to feel seen or heard but i’m more of the mind of i never trust the mainstream until they prove me wrong ;) 

or i never trust the mainstream and i still buy into it anyway and then cry when i don’t like what i see adn i yell “BOO GET OFF THE STAGE!” when an old man won’t leave a teenager alone

Sniper isn’t white.

I realized I've never formally put my thoughts into words on this subject because I've always assumed everyone knew about this and was just surprised more people don’t? idk if it’s a touchy topic or something but I think it has to be said at this point if y'all just really don’t know anything about it.

firstly just wanted to say that obviously OCs are exempt from this topic. you make your OC whatever race and skin color you want. i’m trying to talk about canon as much as possible and i still don’t “get” the disconnect between OCs and the canon representations of the mercs. so don’t worry about your OC okay.

also anything i’m about to say is not at all intended to be provocative or harmful. the subject is eye-raising, i get it, but i’m trying my best to be as respectful about it as i can. let’s get into it.

so, the first obvious thing is that his mom (Lar-Nah) is obviously not white. at least not completely. i don’t think I should have to explain that. even in her old age and past ~30 years of literally no sunlight, she still has a darker skin tone.

Sniper has her genes, I shouldn’t have to explain that either lmao. what her race is, we don’t know. personally, I think she’s at least partly Indigenous.

looking at some context, I personally don’t think it’s a coincidence he plays the didgeridoo and goes on “vision quests.” (which is more so used by American Indigineous peoples than Australian/New Zealand, afaik, but it’s not like we know which one Lar-Nah is anyway? wiki also says: “"Vision quest" is an English language umbrella term, and may not always be accurate or used by the cultures in question.” and it was used by Miss Pauling specifically, not Sniper himself.) yes both of these things are well enjoyed by non-Indigenous people but is it really just luck that he enjoys both specifically? they could’ve just gave him some other instrument or gave Pauling a different reason to have a drug-related voice line, but they didn’t, it’s specific. seems meta to me.

but if you don’t believe he’s any part Indigenous/other poc and see Lar-Nah’s skin color as irrelevant, then okay. to be honest his skin color as a baby was pretty fair (though it’s important to note he was, a baby, and also never saw the sunlight in his life to that point). but let’s not forget that it is definitely very canon he’s at least quite tan.

that’s what he does, he spent most of his life alone and outside. there is not any reason he’s not tan. it’s probably why his wrinkles are so apparent at a young-ish age. i personally think that him having the natural capability to tan is evidence enough for him not being completely white, too. y’know, Fitzpatrick stuff, not that i’m going to pretend to be an expert in any of this lol. i wish i understood it more too.

so here’s some anticipated counterarguments, i suppose. 

why isn’t his model skin color tan? all of the model skin colors are nearly the same and it’s pretty hard to just pinpoint the exact tones for me without proper reference files (if u have any i’d appreciate), but from most perspectives all the skin colors are extremely similar besides Demoman’s (duh). 

why isn’t his skin tan in the comics? actually, it is, or was, in comic #4. the art style over the comics change, particularly after #3 and after #5. i don’t know if this is due to specific artists or if they were all drawn/colored by the same people, but it is notable to say they were drawn over the period of years at the very least (you can expect some art style development, yes?). in any case, Sniper in #4 had a darker skin tone than the rest of the characters shown beside him.

sorry it’s a messy pic but you get the point. you can expect some differences in lighting between the panels (#4 features him frequently in very dark spaces) but these were the brightest ones and it’s very clear he’s different. 

so, why doesn’t this continue throughout the comics? well, he died, and then came back to life. we don’t have any current sciences for resuscitating people who have been pronounced dead for twelve hours, let alone what would happen to their skin color after pallor mortis (a relatively “uninteresting” topic to research from what i’ve gathered online, which is bullshit, but whatever). in #5 he was the deathly pale as to be expected (ig??), and then in #6 all of the light skinned characters were given nearly the same shade, unfortunately, much like in game. i guess you could assume he would “lose” all the melanin from tanning and would return to a similar shade that he had as a baby? i have no bloody clue, this is literally batshit unheard of, i think the artists/writers did the best they could regardless of what they were intending for him haha.

anyway i just. i’m just tired. i hate having to “prove” this. all headcanons are perfectly acceptable and valid, and i could also see Lar-Nah maybe being Hispanic instead of Indigenous too, though I’m just more of a fan for the Indigenous one. I’m not trying to shame anyone for thinking otherwise and if you still headcanon him as just white then I literally cannot stop you. it just feels wrong to me when i see him drawn/portrayed really white considering everything I just talked about.

would it help or hurt my argument to give some personal experience? i could if someone wanted to ask about it but i won’t on this post.

conclusions are that Sniper isn’t white. and if you believe he is, then he is still very tan.

hello! what a neat assortment of questions; I’m so happy to answer them!

1) yes, absolutely! I’m in love with webcomics at the moment, but only a handful. obviously, I love Their Story (Tamen de Gushi) as well as Mosspaca. but I also read an incredible webcomic that I just cannot wait for the second season to come out! it’s called King’s Maker and I’ve yet to come across something as beautiful, complex, and engaging (except 19 Days lol). please check it out and support the author! I also really, really enjoy Here U Are. what a cute and honest couple in that webcomic!

2) oh god, teaming up with an illustrator would be my life’s dream. it would be absolutely amazing to see the images in my head come to life on paper/screen! still, I don’t think I’m talented enough to involve myself in something like that, and quite frankly, I don’t know how I’d go about it, either. still, a girl can dream :)

3) haha, I wish! actually, I’m a big science nerd. I love biology, and while English/language arts is something that never ceases to entertain me, I don’t think I could ever truly dedicate myself to a life like that, lol. I’ll just have fun writing my fanfiction and headcanons !!

4) OH BOY, DO I HAVE A FAVORITE TIANSHAN MOMENT FOR YOU!! this latest chapter wrecked me in all the best ways; it’s hands-down my favorite tianshan moment in the story thus far. I could talk about why for ages, so I’ll spare my rambling for another post on another day. until then, I hope you’re as hyped about the last chapter as I still am!

5) lol, wow. this question sent me into a wheezing laughter. well, I’ll keep it short for the sake of people’s dashboards:

it would be disastrous. they’d be the talk of the town nearly every day. they’re such a loud and energetic bunch when they get together, and even more so when they’re in their respected pairs. I’ll be honest: I’d probably get annoyed by them more often than not, but I also think I’d find some of their antics and conversations entirely too funny! many people would hate them; others would love them. still, you wouldn’t be able to deny that they’re probably one of the most popular groups in school!

6) oh, absolutely!! in this fandom, I absolutely adore powerandpathos on AO3. they have such a beautiful way of writing, and their stories made me fall even deeper in love with tianshan. I think they’ve fallen out of the 19 Days fandom, but please feel free to enjoy their works nonetheless. I also enjoy @i-got-these-words ‘s stories when I’m feeling a little... risky ;) in other fandoms, I adore astoryaboutwar’s works in the Yuri On Ice universe. they’ve got an incredible powered assassins AU, and I definitely think everyone should read it at least once in their lives. please support these authors!!

Voltron Playlist Project by @iheardnewepsiodesofninjago and @the-stressmushroom

Hi everyone! We both know there are a lot of mixed reviews about season 7. Some people love it, some people hate it. There were a lot of upsides to the season and a lot of downsides. However, we have been working on a very special project for a very long time. We have been compiling playlists of songs that describe the different voltron ships throughout their existence according to our own fanon, and common fanons throughout the fandom. And we would like your help with the next part of this project! We will be creating fan art for each song depicting the couple in the scenario the song represents. (ex. River by Bishop Briggs is sort of when lance and keith come together in an I hate you so much but your really fucking hot way, in our fanon.) Please note that this fanart can be in whatever format you like! A comic, a single drawing, an animatic, ANYTHING! We just want y’all to be creative! We will be posting the playlists on both of our accounts with our ideas of where the different songs land in our fanon written below each link. We hope that this project may help bring the fandom together during this rather difficult time. Rules: Answer 11 Questions, Ask Eleven Questions, Tag Eleven People!

1. Have you ever based a story on a dream you’ve had?

Not a story, no, but a few poems! If I have a dream I want to remember, or one with someone who isn’t around anymore, I tend to wake up and immediately write it down. They always seem to come out of my head as poems. 

2. What do you do, when you hit a wall with a story?

I stare at the wall for a good long while, band my head against it a few times, then give up and go do something else. Sometimes I write poetry to get rid of the wall. Other times, I experience/watch/listen to/look at other art to kick-start my idea generator. I went to a slam poetry event last week and holy crap the idea generator was working overtime after and during that event. 

If I’m on a time crunch, I write the next sentence and delete it and rewrite it and delete it and rewrite it until it feels like I can keep going, then I go back and tweak it later. Sometimes the words need to be forced to get along on the page.

3. What kind of characters do you like to write best?

I really like writing quieter characters that have a lot going on under the surface. Most of my favorite characters are afraid to say something, or skirt around a certain topic a lot, or say something else every time they should be saying the right thing. Probably because I love puzzles. And I love subtext. 

The most challenging character for me was a storyteller dude who talked a lot and was very exaggeratey. But it was fun to figure out where his limits were.

4. What do you read, to get inspired?

I am a serial re-reader. I will grab my favorite books and skim through them to remind myself how the characters developed, find the lines that I love, and pick out all the wonderful things the writer did. It helps that I have a crazy good where-in-the-book-was-that memory. 

5. Do you listen to songs/any sounds while writing or do you need utter silence?

I listen to the same song on repeat each time I sit down and write. For my violinist story, it was a cello/violin duet of OneRepublic’s “Secrets.” I listened to it on repeat for like 6 hours. Now I guess it’s kind of my kick-starting writing song. Thanks, Pavlov.

It’s a different song every time I sit down, usually. Sometimes it’s instrumental, more often it’s not. Last time was “The Hymn of Acxiom” by Vienna Tang for 2 hours. My brain has to be able to block it out because it can’t operate without a minor distraction, I guess. I can write in silence, too, if I hit flow state.

6. What is your favorite author?

Hoo boy. Please don’t make me choose...

Rick Riordan, Lauria Halse Anderson, Neil Gaiman, Mackenzie Lee, Madeline Miller, Tim O’Brien, Rabih Alameddine, Margueritte Bennett (I have a signed Bombshells #1! Eee!), Bill Konigsberg, and Kieron Gillen, to name a few.

7. There’s a zombie apocalypse and the CDC issues that the only way to kill the zombies, is to hit them with your least favorite book. What book, do you use to kill some zombies?

Beginners by Rebecca Wolff. Had to read it for a class. The prof said we had to read bad books and good books to learn from both and I cannot believe he considered this a good book. Everyone else in class had some serious issues with it. It could kill so many zombies, though. 

8. What do you think is going to be the next big “monster trend” in modern day literature? We’ve had Vampires, werewolves and zombies, what do you think is next?

Hmmm. Well. To get nerdy for a minute, monster trends tend to reflect societal trends. Vampires (Victorian Era) were about repressed sexuality and Gothicness. Zombies are/can be a metaphor for environmental collapse/global warming/nature coming back to kill us all because we messed up. Twilight vamps were about feminine wish fulfillment and how everyone hates teenage girls (so can we please give them some respect for the love of God).

If I were to throw a guess out there for the next monster... I mean, I want more monsters from different cultures’ myths and folklore. We had a big trend in dystopian recently, since we found out we were the monsters. Next might be... I dunno, fish people? Dark Tulpa-type monsters might be cool, too. I mean, we’ve got the Babadook. 

9. Which wip of yours is the favorite child? If you only have one WIP, which character is the favorite child?

H2H, no doubt. It’s the one that’s always in the forefront of my brain. Within that story, I think Gemma is the favorite child. I just learned that she can get a little intimidating when something is keeping her from helping people and that’s not what I was expecting from her. She keeps growing and changing as I keep writing and I love it. 

Fred is pretty great, too, though. My first note for him was “He totally gardens in khakis and knee pads.” 

10. What kind of things do you like to use to get in the writing mood?

Reading up to the point where I left off writing and getting inspired by other stories and music. When I was an actor, I used to listen to playlists I made to get in character before going out on stage, and the habit carried over to my writing. 

11. Outline or no outline?

90% of the time, no outline. Recently, outline. Ugh. I don’t like outlining because it makes my brain think I’ve already written the thing and then it doesn’t actually want to write the thing.

Paladins Patch 1.3 Thoughts

So now that it’s a bit after the fact, I figure I might as well organize my thoughts more about the upcoming patch! Everything is under the cut, and I apologize in advance to mobile users. The patch notes for 1.3 are already up if you’re interested.

The Emote Wheel, and Gold Sinks

Okay so first off, just the addition of being able to equip multiple emotes and sprays on its own is such a good addition! But also as one of those folks currently sitting on a mountain of gold right now, we REALLY needed this sort of gold sink:

From the looks of it to upgrade to each additional slot for both sprays and emotes, the amount of gold will be:

Slot 2: 50,000g

Slot 3: 100,000g

Slot 4: 150,000g

Which works really well for me. Fernando has so many good emotes, I can’t be expected to pick just one! Speaking of Fernando though -

...Okay back on topic. I’m not sure if you have to unlock these additional slots for each champion on their own, or if its a universal unlock yet - only PTS will tell. I honestly have enough gold that I’d probably be set either way though...we really needed a gold sink that doesn’t revolve around buying champion levels. I only buy champion levels if I want to unlock their talents, but nothing beyond that. No sir, I like to EARN my gold skins!

The other gold purchasable addition to the game is additional language announcer packs - 25,000g each. I think we’re definitely going to see someone playing champions of a specific nationality along with their respective announcer pack in youtube videos. So, Fernando with the spanish announcer pack for example. It just seems like an inevitable thing that’s gonna happen, haha

New Map, New Queues

So first off, the separation of TDM and Onslaught and the reintroduction of multiqueue are GREAT and I’m happy to see this happen. It looks like Snowfall Junction will also be added to the TDM queue, so that will be interesting to see how it works out. More importantly, the Rise of Furia event map isn’t going entirely to waste; I really love the look of the modded version outfitted for a classic TDM match, and the creation of points of interest with the spawned pickup that gives you a full ult charge sounds neat on its own as well. A sort of objective in an objectiveless game mode if you will.

The fact that the old Throne Area at the top of the Spire during the event will still be accessed from the custom match lobbies is just the icing on top.

I honestly would love to see more of an emphasis on new map additions over new champion additions in the future. We really are in sore need of new maps. Hell, I’d love to see the reintroduction of the test map queue just on its own.

Balance and In Game Adjustments

Fusillade Nerf: Both necessary AND welcome!

Cherish Nerf: I’m gonna miss that extra burst, but I can also see why this was necessary.

BUCC: It’s a bit of a mixed bag here, isn’t here? Self Sustain nerfed, but buffs to his ensnare as well. Then you have the reload changes; kinda makes me wonder if he’s one of those champs that’s going to receive yet another rekit later in the future because these tunes he always receives tend to be all over the place.

Bug Fixes:

Grumpy Bomb no longer deals 3x damage to Shields: AS A FERNANDO MAIN, THANK YOU

Overall audio fixes: these were a long time coming, I especially noticed the Mal’Damba one brought up.

Fixed an issue where Furia’s Wrings of Wrath Projectiles were sometimes tracking and moving through walls: Thank u lord.

Seems like a lot of map collision bug fixes went through too

Misc:

You know that thing where you’re making a Loadout, the queue pops, then you get sad because you can’t finish the loadout before the match? Now you can – until all the other players have accepted!

This is a quality of life change that I sorely needed considering how many times this has happened to me, lol.

Skins + Battle Pass

So the Battle Pass looks to have more concrete stuff this time around though they did up the buy in price - from 500 to 600 crystals. So, some skin reviews.

Crimson Serpent Mount

I actually kinda dig this mount; its nice to have another non-horse addition, and the fire trail effects are also neat.

Makoa – Akuma Skin

While the fact that there are elements that remind of Bowser is pretty fun to me, this is overall not a skin that suits my personal tastes. It feels too overdesigned, too cluttered, too clunky, too many unnecessary spikes everywhere. I guess I’m just not...too into edgy aesthetic skins though overall so I’m biased here.

Cassie – Dragoncaller Skin

When the visuals for her first dropped with the splash art for the new mount, I deadass thought this was going to be a Lian skin because of the hair and the royal vibe, but no it’s...Cassie. Honestly this feels more like Cassie cosplaying Lian more than anything, right down to the voice pack. Seriously the voice pack has HUGE Lian vibes to it, its the high born haughtiness. I guess if you’re into that, this is your skin. I do admit though, Dragon Ziggs is pretty cute, and the crossbow is alright.

Mal’Damba – Shadow Lord Skin

CONGRATULATIONS TO HI REZ FOR BEING COMPLETELY INCAPABLE SO FAR OF PUTTING OUT MAL DAMBA SKINS THAT I DON’T LIKE. This skin goes so against what kind of aesthetics I usually go for, it’s very “edge” but my snake boy pulls it off and I love him. The only downside is that the voice pack is very generic and is definitely outclassed by all of Mal’Damba’s other voice packs by far. It’s situations like this that really make me wish they added voice pack customization back so that I could equip his halloween voice pack with this skin.

Oh also who gave snek a knife?

If I get this battle pass it will be purely for the Fernando emote and this Mal’Damba skin, and I suppose the mount as well.

New Champion: Koga

Okay so visually? I don’t find Koga appealing at all. The colors just clash so much, especially that orange, and once again this is a character with Too Much Stuff and Clutter. Visually a lot with Koga gets lost to me; again, it’s just...too much. Sometimes, less...is more. As to his recolors, I do like the concept they’re continuing with in terms of recolors having slight tweaks to the model; in this instance, its the recolored version not including Koga’s mask:

It would be neat if we had multiple gold purchasable recolors for champions like we used to outside of masteries, but that ain’t happening anytime soon. That’s visuals though; kit wise, I do dig what he brings.

I think the concept of working off a resource meter for all abilities instead of using cooldowns is interesting, and his mobility looks super fun. While I am dissapointed that his claws serve no melee functionality outside of his ultimate, I do like the way their attacks tie in similarity with Zhins flame sword attacks. I was hoping for another weapon switch champion along the lines of Strix, but the way the claws function as a weapon switch is much more of a set time focused thing, since using your claws eats up resource meter. He has a talent right off the bat that restores energy when he uses his submachine gun, and if I had to guess that’s probably one of his talents that’s going to get a future nerf. Again, that’s just if I had to guess.

Seeing Koga’s passive wall climb ability and his dash is a bit dissapointing in some ways though, since much of his mobility is things people have suggested in the past for Skye in terms of a rekit. Before Koga, it was Skye that was our resident Ninja Themed champion. The woman wears kunais, uses stealth and smoke bombs, she’s clearly meant to evoke a stealthy ninja assassin in terms of how she operates. While we already know Skye will receive a visual reworking first before we see any rekit, its still going to be a hard pill to swallow for most Skye mains out there. Speaking of Skye, we did see her visual revamp teased during the Koga trailer:

I am NOT a fan of this wristbow redesign. If Koga is meant to evoke a more aggro ninja archtype, than Skye is meant to evoke a more stealthy one; besides that, Skye has always struck me as the more sleek and elegant type. This giant cumbersome crossbow she’s wielding here just DOES NOT fit the bill. Well, at least we know for sure that she’s still going to be purble (the lighting in these screenshots is affected by a firey background so its a bit misleading color wise).

I can also definitely see Maeve mains being salty though; while Street Justice has been the talk of the town, that talent really has been the ONLY thing going for her, as her base kit and mobility has been nerfed multiple times. When you look at Maeve’s large cooldowns and compare them to Koga’s resource meter, its quite the disparity. What I’m trying to say is, Maeve and Skye mains should stand in solidarity against this injustice and maybe commiserate in a bar over drinks later I guess.

I feel pretty positive about the new additions overall though, and I’m kind of looking forward to this patch which is nice for a change. Let me know your thoughts too!

SHINee!! These boys have always brought me so much happiness through their music and by just being themselves. They were the first group that I really explored deeper discography-wise, and I fell in love with all of their music, they have never disappointed me. I love how they are not afraid to explore different music genres and yet still have that SHINee quality to them. Each album offers something new and exciting, and yet their older music stands up against time. Like I will honestly never get tired of listening to replay or love like oxygen. These boys work hard just like any other group, however I can really feel the heart they put into their work a bit more than others. And the fact that SHINee is a family devoted to each other, and that they are open and honest to shawols made me feel like SHINee world was a comforting and accepting place to be a part of. They have some of the nicest fans, and the boys themselves are some of the sweetest people I’ve ever seen. I love them so much and I cannot thank them enough for all the positivity they have given me.    

4.) Ult Bias and why you love them?

Key!! One of my SHINee boys <3. When I first learned the members of SHINee, I had the hardest time with choosing a bias let me tell you. Ultimately, Key stole my heart. He has such a unique sense of humor that I really appreciate, that is straight forward and honest. Not only that, but he is not afraid to express himself whether it be through his extra-ness or even his fashion. He really puts himself out there with a confidence I wish I had. Key also has a kind heart and is not afraid to express his emotions as well, he looks out for his members and he cares about others. Not to mention that he donates money to provide art supplies to school children every year so that they can have an outlet in which to express themselves creatively. His voice is also very unique and the fact that he can rap and also sing is amazing to me (I would love to hear a solo song by him). Lastly, his smile always warms my heart and I love seeing him be happy as well as the other members.

I'm not really sure who all are content creators, but shoutout to all you content creators blogs! Thank you for keeping us updated! Honestly Tumblr is my main way to check in on my kpop groups, that's how I found out SHINee was coming to America for SWV and I was able to go see them live since I found out ahead of time, thank you!!

Plus when it comes to Jihun, I would do anything for that boy. (I'm super Jihun bias that it's not even funny)

B1A4 four nights (NYC 2017), B.A.P Party Baby (NYC 2017), SHINee World V (Dallas 2017) and KCON (Newark 2017).

This year I have tickets to go to KCON (Newark) and Monsta x: The Connect (Newark)!!

27.) Favorite choreo?

Definitely It's Raining by Snuper has to be up there, due to the footwork alone. Also U by KNK because it kills me everytime (Jihun is in his element and out to kill). And pretty much all of SHINee's choreography (though Lucifer and everybody choreo is legendary). Also I love the collab song between NU'EST W and Seventeen, Heaven, it's choreography is ridiculous and amazing. Also, Lilliabbay by Seventeen's performance unit is a work of art. Plus Pentagon's funny choreography for Shine gives me life.

28.) Favorite live performance?

SHINee: Almost any Tokyo dome performance, Odd eye live (the one with key's eye patch), Symptoms live, Selene 6.23 live and honestly tell me what to do live with all the members wearing chokers. Also taemin's sayonara hitori hit the stage with koharu.

KNK: Angel heart live, Rain (the live perf. with the cool laser lights as the rain)

SNUPER: Platonic love in the 80s outfits live, You=Heaven perf. with the sailor uniforms (Sangho is so soft), Almost every it's raining performance, every Tulips live too

B.A.P: That single One Shot performance where Daehyun goes insane during his high notes

VIXX: Havana performance, nuff said.

NU'EST W+Seventeen: Heaven (their dance practice is really good too), also I'm a sucker for crazy in love performances.

I haven't quite decided to drop this series.  And if I watch Haikyuu instead, I'll want to write reactions and read subtitles instead of eat.  So KNY is best for my multitasking.

Really surprised there wasn't a scene of Zenitsu being told that Nezuko is Tanjiro's sister.  I would have liked to have seen Zenitsu come to the conclusion to be nice to Tanjiro in order to get close to Nezuko.  Such a drastic switch is funny.  And yeah, he *began* this episode with that drastic switch, but didn't it need an explaination?  I mean, I've watched enough anime tropes to know about "getting the older siblings' blessing to date the younger sibling" cliche.  But shouldn't they have explained it?  Or at least explained how Zenitsu is ok with Nezuko being a demon?  I know he's a hardcore girl-chaser, but he's also been mostly established as a coward, especially when it comes to demons.  So shouldn't there have at least been conflict between those 2 sies of himself?  At the least, seeing that play out would have been interesting.  

Felt kind of sorry for Zenitsu when he thought about wanting encouragement.  that's relatable.  But leaving him was the practical thing to do.  And anyway, even if he wanted encouragement, he should be honest with himself about not actually wanting to go into a forest of demons and be glad he got what he actually wanted.  

I'm going to say it.  Inuyasha's Yura of the Hair, Get Backers' Kazuki Fuuchouin, Claymore's Winged Anastasia.  So many of the ways the spider webs threads were used in this episode, other anime have done before.  Seeming like they're floating by standing on threads, puppeting corpses, controlling living people, etc.  I should research spider yokai and see if they originated these specific techniques.  

Oh, and Inosuke has an "animal spacial awareness" power too?  They say "technique", but c'mon, it's a power.  I don't know why I found it so much more acceptable in Naruto, but it just seems too much like a deus ex machina in KNY.  Maybe because Naruto had a lot of screentime to show training in techniques and normalizing that anyone can learn these "powers".  Whereas, KNY had a LOT of time lapse for the actual training montage episodes, and now these "powers" are coming out of seemingly nowhere.  

Ukogi is the sparrow, huh?

WEll, tangling the threads is a good idea, but does that mean the spider demon has kept her threads untangled all the way from her fingertips, through the trees, bushes, and entire forest, WITHOUT getting them tangled?  I mean, is folding over a branch really considered "tangling"?  I thought thread technique characters could manipulate their threads more---at least in other series.  

I was wondering why they stopped attacking just because she snapped their necks, when half the people she was controlling were already corpses, but then I remembered she gave up on their usefulness.  

Really disturbing to see the mother spider so obviously terrified, about to be abused by her husband, while her own children are laughing at her.  

"If I die, I'll be released".  At least someone gets it.  

It's interesting how a lot of the demons have a quick flashback to their human memories right before they die.  I hope that pays off well in the overall story later.  

Tanjiro is sure taking his name misspoken by Inosuke during the previews, pretty well.  That's so refreshing, after so many series where a character completely freaks out then holds a grudge over their name being misremembered by someone that just met them.  I'm so tired of that trope.  It's so nice to see Tanjiro just patiently encouraging Inosuke to try again.  ;u;  Tanjiro continues to be so nice!  ;u;;  He and Nezuko really keep me sticking to this series.

But if Zenitsu passes out in 15min, then won't he just go unconsciously OP and kill the demon?

So his hair is yellow from lightning?  ok......?  

I have anxiety, depression, and suicidally low self esteem, so I can relate to Zenitsu, but WATCHING scene, after long scene, of a character who does nothing but scream and chase girls is not enjoyable.  I feel bad, constantly wondering why I keep hearing he's a fan-favorite character.  

Isn't saying that the time Gramps spends training Zenitsu is "wasted", the same as saying Gramps is a bad teacher?  Does this guy *really* respect Gramps as a former Hashira?  Sounds pretty disrespectful to me.

Well, it's nice to see the malicious child---enough to laugh at his own mom while she's getitng spousal abuse---get beaten by someone like Zenitsu.  

So is Zenitsu actually a little conscious?  Or is he dreaming?  

I'm sorry I forgot the bird's real name.  Chuntaro will have to do for now.  Chuntaro's crying face was super cute.  

It really hurts to see people picking on Zenitsu, when my anxiety/depression really forces me to identify with him.  And then the moral in the end is "everything is still worthwhile if you just don't give up"?  Sorry.  Not buying it.  If you're suicidal, you've already got the idea that death is an escape from suffering.  So the idea of working hard to survive, just to endure more suffering from your so-called "friends" and appreciating abuse from your "family" just because their abuse is proof of "not abandoning you", really irks me.  

Hang on a second...  This demon isn't overtly hostile.  What?  

Wait.  So this demon will abuse his wife but protect his daughter?  The hell?  And how he's spouting about protecting hsi family?  That's messed up.   . . .

I don't understand.  Every other anime has translated "nisemono" as "fake".  Why is this series/episode translating it as "forged"?  Would it make sense to use "fake"?  There has to be something later in the story where "forged" makes more sense then using "fake".  I hope it comes soon, because it his really perplexing to me.  Right now, the emotional stakes of the fight don't mean anything without referring to a "fake bond".  

I guess the flashbacks aren't just for demosn right before they die.  

Wow.  These nichirin swords are breaking left and right in this episode.

By god.  Someone figured out how to get Inosuke to take the time to heal his wounds in the midle of a battleground.  lol  Not bad.  lol  ^o^  

Wow.  All this time I had been hoping Nezuko would help out in this fight since it seemed so many odds were stacked against Tanjiro.  Then shen it actually happens, I had forgotten about it, then WHAM.  Genuine surprise.  ^_^  It's like how I never see Tokugawa protecting Ishida, no matter how many times i see that movie.  lol  

I'm sorry, but the talks between Tanjiro about fundamental philosophies is just too good!  ^o^  Nezuko has a will of her own...Fear is not a family bond...You need to fix that fundamental understanding...  It really helps to hear characters resolute in their belief that Nezuko has her own thoughts, to counteract all the ways this series keeps reducing her:  she can't speak, the hypnosis makes her protect humans vs she herself deciding to have a fervent wish/desire to protect humans, etc.  Need more of this.  Good job.  

Is the blade being held by threads?  It looks like it's not even touching Rui's neck. o.o?

That was good setup for these flashbacks when a character thinks they're going to die.  I liked that the Hashira saving Zenitsu explained that specifically, on top of the series repeatedly showing it with demons and other characters through now.  

This series really likes coming up with secret special techniques out of no where.  lol  I wonder why I put up with it so much with other Shonen anime?  Did they have better setup?  But even though it stands out a bit in KNY, I still roll with it because I love these protagonists and the animation is just SO DAMN GOOD.  

Ooh!  Nezuko doing a Demon Blood Art!  *o*!  Yes!  Agency for Nezuko!  ^o^

Wow.  Haven't seen anyone fight this much with a broken sword since Utena.  ^o^

That was a good ep.  

Maybe as long as the characters are cool instead of really pushing for being the comedic characters, then I have absolutely no problems with this series.  

I love how creepy Kouchou is with her friendliness and how sincere her offers probably are.

I already forgot wisteria is poisonous to these demons.  lol

Well, this is unusual.  They're showing the ghosts conversing with the oni after they die.  Usually it's jut the flashback, some last reaction to the memory, then the oni dies.  

Once again, I like how empathic Tanijro is.  I forgot that he can literally smell grief.  

Tomioka only *just now* recognized Tanjiro and Nezuko?  lol  

So Tomioka often acts contradictory to what he says?  He's a tsundere?  

Is this going to be the comedy duo for the episode?  Better than Inosuke and Zenitsu.  

I was wondering why Tomioka wasn't explaining earlier that Nezuko

"Kakushi".  Doesn't that mean "spirited away"?  Or maybe just "away"?

In other words, they would have been IN SO MUCH TROUBLE if they went ahead and executed him.  lol  

"The fact is that Nezuko has refraine dform devouring humans for more than 2 years, and also that there are 3 people risking their lives for her.  To reject this notion, those who reject it must offer an even more convincing argument."  That's a really good argument.  

Other Hashira have never crossed paths with Kibutsuji before???

By those scares it loosk like Sanemi cuts himself a lot.  

I think she's more angry that he attacked her and Tanjiro though.  More than holding back hunger.  

Aaaaaaaaaand that's end of episode.  

This episode's direction has had SO MUCH "be awed" moments.  The music, the pauses, the slower pace of some reveals, etc.  They really want us to be awed by the Hashira and everything going on.  Sorry, but the ending theme animation sequence and the continuation of this series already proves that everything will end up ok.  But even if I didn't already know a few spoilers, I'm so tired of the whole "be awed" direction.

I' expect Nezuko to be more angry about the Hashira beating up Tanjiro, more than any temptation by the blood.

I still think it's more dramatically impactful for Nezuko to solely make the decision herself to not eat humans, vs because of Urokodaki's hypnosis.  

Oh yeah, she's the medical person.  It makes sense for Tanjiro and Nezuko to stay at her house, at least for treatment.  

omg  He still wants to do that right now???  You can get back at the wind Hashira later.  lol  

Tamayo is teh oni doctor, right?  It seems like the Master has a physiological connection to demons, after all.  

Yes, please stop shouting.  I can tell the seiyuu is having a lot of fun, but omg...I don't think I want to see a return of their form of humor.

9:44 PM 11/21/2020 I can't watch this episode anymore.  After all those stupid commercials, realizing how spoiled I've been by YouTube's skip ad option, my whole body still being sore from day 2 of returning to my pushups/ballet exercises routine,...  Everything is just too annoying.  

This girl training Tanjiro during his rehabiliation is annoying.  Whether she's supposed to act as "teacher" for the training or "medical authority" in thier rehabilitation, it should be her responsibility to get Zenitsu and Inosuke back to rehab training.  Even if it wasn't, I hate this implication that this show is framing this situation as Tanjiro's responsibility!  It's not his responsibility!  His responsibility is to get himself healed!  This girl has no right to seemingly direct her anger at him for failing to get Zenitsu and Inosuke back to rehab training!  And even if she wasn't blaming him, the direction is certainly portraying that implication!!!  Adn Tanjiro is _reapeatedly_ trying to get them back to rehab training, so we have to watch this girl _repeatedly_ seem to blame him for their failures!  This whole thing is stupid.  

And then on top of that, the story is starting to move back towards Zenitsu and Inosuke's perspective, likely to finally reveal why they've been skipping out on rehab training.  But all I can remember is how much worse this series got when they showed up.  How much every scene with them went too long and too annoying.  How I don't want to watch them.  And how much better the series got again when they faded back into the background.  I'm sorry to their fans, but my brother was right (about Zenitsu):  Zenitsu and Inosuke are annoying.  I don't think I like them.  

Previous episode was good though.  All about Tanjiro and Kochou.

12:24 PM 11/22/2020 The other day, maybe 2 days ago, I was watching the Kimetsu no Yaiba ep where Tanjiro was struggling to do his full concentration breathing 24hrs a day, and I heard it again: The theme of diligent everyday work.  I'm listening to the One Punch Man opening theme, and that series was very much about that.  Did HeroAca also have that theme?  I doubt it, with all the superpowers.  Then again, it may not have stated it explicitly like KNY or OPM, but it probably *portrayed* it better than them.

Unfortunately saw note from last time I tried to watch this ep and found it very annoying so I didn't finish it last time.  Maybe now's not a good time to watch an annoying show, while Nanay is giving off ominous vibes.  But I'm so close to finishing off this series/season.  

Ugh.  Oh yeah.  Tsundere.  That's part of why I gave up on this ep last time.  

Again, with the "work hard" theme.  If they're going to go with the "hard work solves everything" theme, that's been going around with series like One Punch Man, then at least be encouraging about it, sparrow.  I'm sorry, but I'm already from the generation/society that has lived with that "hard work ethic solves everything" being told all our lives, but by now has been proven a lie.  People work hard and work hard and the oppressions keeping them back aren't recognized.  Then "just work harder" gets used as a fuckin EXCUSE to ignore those oppressions and blame everyone's positions SOLELY on their individual motivations/ambitions.  I mean, *I'm* lazy and hopeless as all hell---I am Gen X, we're supposed to be nihilistic, after all---but I'm coasting!  Hard work does not deterine everything!  And there have been so many journalism pieces revealing the myth of the "hard work solution" just being used as an excuse to ignore problems and not help people, forgive me if seeing that theme being advocated just makes me cynacle as all hell.  

At least Kocho knows how to encourage people.  

If Shinobu is so angry that Kanao can't think for herself THEN JUST TEACH HER GODDAMNIT.  She's a little kid!  That's what you do with little kids!  omg Why does she bother staying angry after her big sister solved the problem right in front of her.  See?  This is what is so tiring about sticking to comedic cliches (in this case, the prolonged flustered angry ranting), instead of just allowing the writing to follow the logic of the characters.  Like PopCultureDetective advocated, you don't have to follow a genre's cliches, simply for homage, if those cliches just perpetuate negative things.  In this case, annoying nusance behavior for the purposes of obsolete ideas about comedy.  ..then again, this series has already proven that the manga-ka has warped ideas about prolonging annoying behavior as equating "comedy".  

Haganezuka is probably going to kick your ass for breaking your last swords.  Don't be so happy to see him---Yup.  There it is.  

He's probably going to chip the blades with that rock.  This is going to be bad.

At the rate Tanjiro is straining, he's going to need to recover from his rehabilitation.  lol  

LOL Tanjiro just tapped the teacup into place on her head! lol  I'm so glad he didn't just not splash her or completely forfeit the duel.  There's this old martial arts anime cliche about guys losing on purpose or forfeiting a match just because they "don't want to hit a girl".  It comes from old "gentlemanly" ideas, about respecting women because their "delicate" and frankly, before chivalry codes, knights were assholes and women were especially brutalized all the fucking time, so chivalry was needed to counter that.  But in martial arts anime, it repeatedly gets used on female characters who have actually been kicking everyone's asses, including the male protagonist's, for a big part of their screentime.  So it just ends up being really insulting to imply "hey, I'm this big strong dude, simply for being born male, and your sex/gender automatically makes you nothing but weak, so I'm not going to even try to actually win this duel, because anything I do without holding back is going to be too much for you to handle".  And maybe I'm old and have seen this cliche too many times with all my years on me, but I'm tired of it.  Maybe in real life, women still get brutalized much more than men, women still need efforts at consideration directed towards them to counter all the mysogyny, and the average man vs an exactl equal average woman tends to maybe have more muscle mass without trying, but when I watch an anime to see the fantasy of a woman unafraid to take a hit and able to dish it out just as well, you can't just break the immersion by bringing in those real world considerations of chivalry, without being simply demeaning towards that power fantasy female character.  

omg I thought someone would peak out and reveal they spoke for Nezuko.  But I think thee thing I've been griping about should happen, just happened!  Nezuko spoke for hereself.  ;u;

Final Yuri on Museum report

So, the other day I finally completed my 6th visit to the Museum and listened to the secret audio guide. As I don’t think my impression of the Museum will change any more, I’m writing a short extra report of what I think about the whole exhibition after going there 6 times.

The post has no “spoilers” nor details about the conversations in the guides so it’s safe to read even for people who are planning to visit. I will only post “spoilers” when the Museum is over and (hopefully?) the no-spoiler rule is lifted.

After writing the first report I was asked whether I would write which audio guides I liked the most. Here is my personal ranking: 1) Victor & Yuuri 2) Yuuri & Yurio 3) Victor & Chris 4) Yuuri & Phichit 5) Yurio & JJ

I am leaving out the secret one not to give out hints, but I liked that too. It was... interesting.

Yuuri & Yurio’s guide was really cute. It’s not like they “act cute”, but they are cute together because you can understand that they are friends even if they bicker. And Yuuri & Phichit are really “longtime best friends”. If you want to listen to something that heals you when you go to the Museum you should probably choose one of these two. If you are tired I would not recommend Yurio & JJ’s because it will probably tire you more, though it is amusing... It actually managed to be “more JJ” than I expected. Victor & Chris’ was hilarious and kind of “R-rated”, but it also had some interesting serious parts. You can feel that Victor & Chris are also longtime friends, but their relationship is clearly different than Yuuri & Phichit’s. Victor and Yuuri were... Victor and Yuuri. In the audio guides you are basically a visitor who kind of follows the characters through the Museum, and in some cases they will speak to you, like to explain things about their skating programs. In Victor and Yuuri’s case, you may as well introduce yourself as “hello, I’m here to play gooseberry”.

I am actually planning to go to the Museum again (as if I haven’t already given them enough money, lol) to take pictures at the kiss & cry display with a friend, and I will probably listen to the Yuuri & Victor guide again so that I can take some more notes when I get home for whenever the spoiler ban is lifted.

Except for the first time (it was the second day and it was super crowded) I always visited the Museum late at night on weekdays, which was really nice because we were always less than 10 people and it was very peaceful. Thankfully enough all the pictures except a few (like the new picture of Yuuri, Yurio and JJ on the GPF podium) have been turned into merchandise, so the ones who can’t go can at least take a legit look at that and hopefully it will dissuade people from sharing pictures of the areas were photos are forbidden. There are no released pictures of the costumes, but to be honest they probably look much better and real if you look at them directly. Considering how much time and money they must have spent on them I’m pretty sure they will display them again somewhere, though I guess it will probably still be in Japan. Apparently they are considering touring Japan with the Museum, which would be nice at least for all the people who do live in Japan but cannot come to Tokyo. Taking them abroad would probably be very expensive.. (Having worked in the forwarding business I have experience with shipping mannequins for exhibitions and it’s not cheap)

Highlights of the costume mannequins: -The mannequins themselves. They have been as careful as to make all the mannequins different in size and body build, so you can not only take a look at how the costumes would look in real life, but also at how they would look on the characters if they existed in real life. Except for Otabek I guess, because no matter how you look at his mannequin it’s basically as tall as Yuuri and towers over Phichit and Yurio (he’s between them) while he should only be 3cm taller than Phichit.. Maybe they ran out of mannequins? -Yuuri’s FS costume is a remake, not the same one that was displayed at previous events and at the Chacott cafe. It should be closer to the anime version. -Chris’ mannequin definitely has something stuffed in the crotch. -If you are a hardcore figure skating fan you can probably make out not only the skate brands but the blade types too, as you can look at them quite closely. -The different physique of Yuuri & Victor’s exhibition mannequins. They are standing next to each other so it’s very easy to compare the differences. They really paid attention to everything... The size of their legs, thighs, arms are different, the muscles on their chests, even the throat and collarbones area!! (They don’t have heads, only up to the neck, but still the throats are different!) I don’t know what those golden decorations on their chests are called, but Yuuri’s are more loose and U-shaped, while Victor’s are almost a straight line because his chest is wider. And of course they have golden rings. Their EX costumes were only shown for a short time in the anime so it’s a nice occasion to see how they are made, though I wish we could see the back side better too (you can’t go behind them). Victor’s normal FS costume is alone in the Victor area but he’s also against a wall so you can’t see the back either.

There’s also an “Easter egg” in the Victor area... On the wall on the left side of Victor’s FS costume mannequin there is a small hole. If you look inside... there is actually something. It’s nothing like new art or new information, it’s just random but it’s still amusing that they made that. I don’t know whoever had the idea of actually looking inside that hole the first time... 

Staring at the new art of young Victor (which everyone has probably seen by now thanks to the merchandise so I can talk about it) I noticed that he actually seems to have more muscles on his chest than Yurio? Probably also more than Yuuri had at his age. Looking at his full body too, he doesn’t seem to be as lithe as Yurio, which makes me think that even if Yurio grows taller (and he likely will) he will probably be more slender than Victor, not as muscular, so he might still keep a different jumping style. Also, this is very random, but young Victor for some reason reminded me of Mao Asada in her late teens... (I wouldn’t even know how to explain why)

I could finally smell Victor’s cologne, though they probably don’t spray it as much in the late evening as in the day because it’s not that evident.. (I have hopes for the 4DX screening of YOI though, lmao) In the evening the staff only stands there to check on the statue, so if you want them to take a picture of you with Victor you must ask them yourself (the first time I went the staff was offering to do it themselves). In the kiss & cry area there is usually no staff so if you want someone to take your picture you would need to ask a random visitor.

The first time I went to the Museum, in the room with all the genga art they had a screen showing pages from the Setting Material Collection. However, a few days later it apparently changed, and now they are showing the genga of some animation sequences (Victor removing his sunglasses and winking at the Worlds in Yoyogi, Phichit jumping in his SP costume, Makkachin about to jump on Yuuri in episode 1, Nishigoori uncovering Yuuri’s belly when he was chubby, Victor skating to Hanarezu ni Soba ni Ite, and I don’t remember what else). So that’s worth taking a look at too!

Lastly.. just a note regarding “spoilers”. I am aware that some people have been ignoring the Museum’s requests and posting detailed information about the audio guides. I myself had to stay away from Tumblr because I was scared to be spoiled about the secret guide before I could listen to it... I can’t force people to keep quiet, but what annoys me the most is that there is little respect for the ones who do not want to see spoilers. It will probably happen whenever the YOI movie is released in theaters too, and it’s kind of sad if Tumblr turns into a spoiler minefield for people who can go watch the movie but not on the first day. There is a “keep reading” feature, so it’s actually easy to hide spoilers and let people choose whether to look at them or not.. Anyway, I dislike spoilers myself, so rest assured that this blog will always post spoilers hidden and with a warning.
