Then there'd the babies. Whiskey has brown tilted feathers, and Ruffles is the one with the silkie top (silkie is the breed). The others don't have named because we're giving them away to make room for some different colors of chickens. Mom wants a variety.
We got the babies when they were just chick's, and it's been so so cool watching them grow. Plus they follow me everywhere if im outside. I'll take a vid of it sometime.
They’re in the temporary tote to acclimate and warm up after transportation and to get to know one another and the smell of my food and get to know me. Then later they’ll upgrade to the big brooder. I like to let them all snuggle for a bit. I find they warm up and perk up faster and settle into the big brooder better that way.
*Expert* because they require more careful care while hatching, raising, and breeding them.
They are a hardy and healthy chicken breed but if they are not fed an appropriate high protein game bird diet they can die.
The chicks have very long legs and if they are kept on a slippery surface they can seriously injure themselves so chicks need to be kept on good bedding and they need plenty of excercise. Chicks are also slow growing so they will need typical chick care and protection for longer then more beginner friendly breeds, and keep in mind during that time they will be HUGE but are still technically babies XD
They have higher calicum needs then most chickens as well because of those legs so they stay strong. That means its also important they get plenty of vitamin D.
The hens can go broody but their long legs and large size means they are prone to breaking eggs. A breeder usually will want a different breed of broody or an incubator to hatch the eggs.
They dont lay many eggs in the first place so each egg is precious if your a breeder.
Believe it or not all of that above can be difficult for a new or backyard chicken owner to deal with and raise.
that is exactly how i imagine joe
absolute chicken he is<3 the chicks are safe and warm
randomly adopting kids may not have been a characteristic the developers planned for Joe but goddamn did he make it one
joe would PANIC watching his chicks go to water because last i checked chicks do not swim
He didn't even have a choice in the matter, they chose him, lmao.
Yea, just going by canon only the bb brigade trio he could have potentially unofficially adopted, and he's just supposed to be the mentor figure the protags look up to for guidance that also happened to play the role of "villain" for the majority of the game. But of course, I love making shit up about him so now he's unintentionally adopted eight rowdy teens (idk if the commanders are actually teens but I'm rolling with it). He realizes one day that he's acting more like a father figure towards them than just a mentor and accepts it.
While the mental image of chicken Joe running up and down the edge of a pond, frantically calling for his adopted kids to GET OUT OF THE WATER while they're all just chilling is hilarious, I think he knows they aren't chicks. He isn't dumb, they have flat webbed feet and bills. He just doesn't care.
everyone is rightfully throwing shade at geese and it's warranted because they ARE satanic birds, they got no business being that aggressive while in possession of teeth. but honestly they got nothing on turkeys... who even designed that thing, looking at best like it has a sad ballsack splattered across its avian face and at worst like a gory nightmare... i hated their vibes so much as a kid. at least geese don't break out into a demonic wail every 8 minutes like it's their job
