Hello, everyone. It's been a while—again.
Let's call this Long Time No See: Pt. 2.
First, before I dive into anything else, I just want to say thank you.
Truly, from the depths of my heart—thank you to everyone who took the time to send me congratulations on my graduation. This milestone has meant everything to me, and the overwhelming wave of support, kindness, and love I received during this time truly moved me. I will never forget it. To those of you who stuck by me during my absence, continued to cheer me on, and offered me grace without expecting anything in return… you are all gems.
The truth is, I've been going through a season of big changes. A lot of long-term decisions, a lot of serious soul-searching. So after I walked across that stage, I gave myself permission to do something I've denied for a long time:
Rest.
As someone who's poured so much into fandom spaces like ours, I've come to understand how essential breaks are.
Breaks are something we all need more than we realize.
Breaks are not weaknesses. It's not laziness or procrastination. 
It's healing.
Being a writer and a part of a community as passionate and lively as the Naruhina fandom can be a beautiful experience. But it can also be draining. Over time, the joy of creating can quietly become a pressure to perform. A constant need to meet expectations. And eventually, you start feeling like you're giving so much to everyone else that you forget how to give to yourself.
I'll be honest. 
There were moments where being part of the Naruhina fandom started to feel more isolating than inspiring. As the vibe of the fandom began to change, I found myself questioning if I still belonged. Some days, I felt like I was trying too hard—coming on too strong. Other days, it felt like no one noticed me at all. Like I was talking to a wall. And for the first time, I started to doubt whether I truly had a place here anymore.
To be completely transparent, these feelings hit me hardest in the Naruhina Discord.
Something about it just felt… off. Unfamiliar. 
The energy there, the tone of the conversations—it was different from what I had grown to love about the fandom. And truthfully, it started to weigh heavy on my heart.
And to just be plain honest, the discord just stopped feeling like a Naruhina-focused space anymore, and that shift is something I've been uncomfortable with for quite a while now.
((Just to be clear, I'm only speaking from my own experience and perspective—I'm not speaking for anyone else, nor am I trying to stir up any drama or negativity.))
For a long time, I just kept these worries to myself. I didn't know how to express them—or if I even should. But I started to realize… if we're really about community and positivity the way we say we are, then there shouldn't be anything wrong with having real conversations.
So that's what I'm choosing to do now—be real.
At the time, I had a lot going on—emotionally, mentally, and just in life overall—so I made the decision, instead of continuing to force myself to engage, to fit in where I didn't feel seen, I decided to listen to that quiet, persistent voice within me—the one urging me to pause, step back, and reconnect with myself outside of all the noise.
And I'm so glad I did.
I took May and most of June to just live. To feel what it's like to be done with college, really done. No deadlines. No lectures. No work. Just peace. And in that peace, I found my creativity again.
Y'all… I have been writing like crazy.
I dusted off my overflowing "Ideas" doc and poured myself into it. One-shots, projects, scenes, and tropes I've dreamed of sharing with you for ages. It's been so fun, so freeing, and exactly what I needed to fall back in love with writing all over again.
Which brings me to the real reason for this announcement…
✨ I'm back! And I've got a summer full of stories for you. ✨
I've stocked up on a ton of one-shots and a few extra surprises too. 😉 Starting now, I'll be uploading on a regular schedule: Mondays and Fridays throughout the summer. Some stories will be standalone; others might have parts, which means some weeks will have more than two updates! 
I've got so much in store for you this summer; I seriously can't wait to spoil you with content and a little extra love.
I know the weight of the world feels especially heavy these days. Everything's been so loud—on the news, in our feeds, in our communities, and even in the quiet battles we're each facing behind closed doors. 
It's no wonder if you've been feeling drained, distant, or just a little out of sync.
So my goal this summer is simple: I want to bring us back.
Back to the joy. Back to the fun of things. Back to the magic that made this fandom feel like home again.
Let's scream in the tags again. 
Let's cry over scenes we weren't emotionally prepared for.
Let's laugh at each other's comments. 
Let's cry, squeal, and completely lose our minds over our OTP. 
Let's fall headfirst into the world of Naruhina again, together.

See. This is where I disagree because:
The source material IS consistent, the basis of StS IS solid. It's so solid, cut and dry that Kurumada gives his mangakas and ppl who work on spin offs a ton of creative freedom, after all those are just spin-offs and they don't really affect or get in the way of his work's actual progression (classic manga -> Next dimension). And I feel like people NEED to recognize the worth in that.
Also for the billionth time that everyone and their grandma has said it: you can't really expect good women writing out of shonens. Especially not from one written in the 80s, even if StS was revolutionary back when it was released. That's not the focus of this genre, it's okay- go read a shoujo or literally any other genre. Did the series get better with their women rep over time? Sure, but that's more of a time period thing, rather than it somehow miraculously being "Kurumada learned how to write female characters". Their ages also isn't the problem, afterall the protag characters ages are average 12-14. Shonen mangas' target audience are boys, in that age bracket. It's only a "problem" now because you, as an adult, became self-conscious about it somehow.
The main thing with the fandom is that the majority of people barely remember anything about the series, because they only watched it in their childhoods and they would rather go off their distorted memories of the show than to check out the show once more to double check. Barely anyone (me included) got introduced into the series through the manga, everything was already built upon an adaptation of something. And that comes with its own set of caveats.
I know that the post is meant to be humorous, but I still felt a need to point this out.
Stop trying to downgrade StS just because it's an old silly quirky uwu shonen. That may not have been your intention, but surely you can talk about the indeed fascinating story about our fandom and communities without throwing the series (the reason we are all here) under the bus.
Saint Seiya, from a pure fandom/meta pov is just fascinating.
Most people have very little consideration for the source material. The lore is mainly builded on 8 specific spin offs -none canon. The show has so much inconsistency that you have to play pick and choose about practically anything. Ages and power systems are basically stickers on a notebook, misplaced and scraped off every new trimester. There are somehow fights on what is canon or not. One of the characters sole existence ledd to the introduction of the term “yaoi” to the world. The girls in the manga are all 16 and terribly written. It’s considered as one of the most iconic shōnen ever. The older fandom is split on either the ones that accuse the new adaptations of “turning the show woke” or the ones that is like “in retrospect they were all kind of gay”. There is so much South American content about that saga it might rivaling the Japanese one. The French part may or may not be a cult for an obscure parody that is the backbone of the entire French anime parody game. The name “knights of the zodiac” definitely comes from European fans trying to guess the og name. It also, funnily enough, makes more sense on the long term than Saint Seiya. Every 10-20 years the USA will make a weird remake that always flops. It was considered a kid show in the 80s, and is still in the collective unconscious of some countries. The author’s favorite part of the fandom is The Gays.
Everything about this serie is a mess from point A to point ω. I love it.

I never imagined I would find myself addressing this, but here we are. This post is regarding my recent story, Stay With Me, which has stirred up unexpected controversy due to my decision to imply the reader’s race as white. I want to clarify that this choice was made purely for plot purposes.
The story is set in 1920s Louisiana, a time and place where racial and class dynamics were deeply significant. This backdrop was essential to the narrative’s themes of tension and forbidden love, as it explores the societal barriers that would have made a relationship between Alastor and the reader virtually impossible. The decision to depict the reader as an upper-class white individual was not arbitrary—it was intentional, aimed at heightening the drama and emotional weight of their story.
I deeply value the Hazbin Hotel fandom and the x-reader community. Writing for this space has brought me immense joy, and I’ve formed wonderful connections with both readers and fellow writers. That’s why receiving such hateful and inflammatory messages has been incredibly disheartening. The accusations of racism, the vitriol, and the twisting of my creative choices into something they were never meant to be—this has shaken me more than I can express.
To the anonymous senders of these messages: I want to make it clear that my work comes from a place of love and passion. My intention has always been to tell compelling stories that explore complex emotions, societal norms, and the human condition—stories that resonate with readers on a deeper level. To reduce my work to a political agenda or an act of prejudice is deeply hurtful and entirely unfounded.
I want to echo sentiments shared by Kit (please check out her explanation here), another writer in the fandom, who also explored the racial and class dynamics between characters. Like them, I am fascinated by the tension and drama that arise from star-crossed love stories, particularly when societal laws and prejudices forbid such relationships. Writing the reader as white in this context wasn’t about excluding or favoring anyone—it was about creating an authentic narrative rooted in the realities of the era.
For those questioning why I made this choice, I ask: if you can suspend disbelief to fall in love with a cannibalistic, asexual deer demon, why is the reader’s race—chosen for specific plot reasons—the line you cannot cross? My goal as a writer is to craft stories that make sense within their own context. The entitlement to demand otherwise, or to impose personal prejudices onto my work, is unfair and unwarranted.
I hate that I’ve had to turn off anonymous asks. Some of the most heartfelt and hilarious messages I’ve received have come from anonymous users, and losing that connection with my readers pains me. But unfortunately, the actions of a loud, hateful minority have left me with no choice. I will not entertain further discourse on this matter after this post.
To those who have supported me, who have read my stories and shared kind words: thank you. Your encouragement is what keeps me going. Writing for this fandom has been a labor of love, and I pour my heart and soul into every piece I create—for free, might I add. It’s devastating to feel that love overshadowed by hostility.
I won’t let this stop me from creating, but I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t made me question my place here. To anyone who feels entitled to tear down what others create out of hatred or spite: I hope you take a moment to reflect on the harm your words can cause.
To my true supporters: I appreciate you more than words can express. Your kindness reminds me why I love writing in the first place. Thank you for standing by me.

"Maybe if people updated more" fanfic is posted and shared for free and is a product of the author's love for writing and the fandoms they're in. No one is entitled to authors following their whims. If this is such a problem, you can always write your own stuff according to your demands.
Also yall will come out with takes like this and then when authors DO upload, you won't comment or show support in any way, especially if the story isn't finished yet (unless it's to ask something like "next chapter?"). Do you have any idea of how discouraging that is to the person behind the fic you are reading ???

Warriors and Artemis: What The Heck Is Going On With Them (a self-appointed analysis)

SO I don’t tend to get too involved with shipping— but during my time in the Linked Universe fandom, I’ve noticed something consistent: while everyone has their own set of headcanons for favorite couples, Hyrule Warriors Zelink is the princess-hero duo with the widest variety of interpretations.
Aside from other factors— like Warriors fans living for angst— I think this stems from the reality that, in the context of Linked Universe specifically, the dynamic between Wars and Artemis is among the Link-Zelda relationships we know the least about.
Hence, in light of the recent holiday, I wanted to take a moment and collect all the clues we’ve gathered for this relationship over time. And, maybe, spark some conversation! (Buckle up and maybe make some hot chocolate, there’s surprisingly a lot to talk about)

Part 1: Jojo’s Hints
When considering any Link-Zelda dynamic in Linked Universe, the easiest place to begin is Jojo’s response to the “love interest” question…aka, Default Zelink.

Obviously, this response doesn’t define the limits of fandom creativity, or invalidate the thousands of excellent stories we can tell with our own interpretations. It is, however, incredibly helpful as a starting point when we’re trying to puzzle out where Jojo might take a relationship in future updates!

It was brought to my attention that this material was not meant to be shared outside the server. Of course, I have removed it. Creator boundaries are very important, and regardless of my intent or awareness, I want to honor that. Thanks to @luna-loveboop for catching this!
For the purposes of this analysis, I’m leaving my conclusions intact, and replacing this specific section with a link to the LU Discord server. If anyone wants to read the evidence there, along with a host of lovely lore tidbits, absolutely check it out!]
Analysis Resumes:
So, here’s what we know:
1. Wars and Artemis are almost certainly romantically involved.
2. It’s more than mutual feelings, but less than an established relationship.
3. It’s been at least SIX years since the end of their adventure.
Obviously, I still have questions. Chief of which is: what does it mean that this is where their relationship stands, when it’s been 6+ years since their mutual adventure?
This sparks a few more questions.
1. If there’s mutual interest, why hasn’t it progressed?
2. Are there obstacles to a definite relationship?
and, of most interest to me:
3. If there’s an obstacle— are either Warriors or Artemis the reason for this?
Conveniently, that part’s next!
Part 2: Warriors and Artemis
A. Warriors’ side
Thus far, Wars has referenced Artemis (directly) exactly once (in “Moving Forward”):

This doesn’t tell us anything about the specifics of their relationship, but it does show that
1. Artemis is a fond subject for Wars: he cares about her.
2. She’s an exception to his hangups with secrecy: he trusts her.
(I considered providing instances of the “Wars and Not Being Told Stuff” saga, but that would 1. take forever and 2. test Tumblr’s image limit. I think we can all agree that this is a trait of his.)
This is a pretty reasonable indicator of how Wars feels about Artemis… for now. He cares about her, and even more notably, he trusts her.
But what about the princess in question?
B. Artemis’ side
As of now, the Zeldas have only come up a handful of times in LU.
Aside from background comics and cameos, references in the main story are largely restricted to Time giving Sky relationship advice in “Miss Her,” Wild addressing his thoughts to Flora at key moments in the aftermath of Twilight’s injury, and Time mentioning Lullaby in “Timeline talk 1.”
And then, of course, there are the Malon chapters.
Romance, as it pertains to the Links, is the subject of conversation at multiple points throughout this “arc”— but for my purposes, the most important stuff is this panel from “The Bet.”

Okay, aside from Wars making political-intrigue fanficcers very happy, this is super informative. A few key takeaways:
1. Wars also assumes Default Zelink.
2. He doesn’t see birth or status as an obstacle to marriage.
3. He’s so confident that he’s willing to bet on it.
(Admittedly, the Chain places a lot of bets— but it’s still worth mentioning that he’d stand his ground on this)
From here, I think we can make three statements and remain well within the realm of probability:
1. Wars thinks very highly of his Zelda.
He sees how much Time loves his wife, and Time’s general self-possession, and assumes it has to be the princess.
2. If there are obstacles to HW Zelink, they probably aren’t external.
Wars treats public support as a given, as long as the involved parties can play the political game.
3. He seems to be speaking from experience.
There’s no signs of frustration, or even a hypothetical here— he’s talking about this like it’s par for the course. Ergo, he probably hasn’t experienced anything that would contradict that assumption.
My conclusion: Artemis isn’t the obstacle. There’s no indication here that Wars’ Zelda is unable or unwilling to make the political arrangements he mentions. In fact, given how unconcerned Wars appears, I’d say it was never a point of contention at all.
That’s as far as I’m willing to go with this panel alone— but if we factor in Zelda’s attitude in Hyrule Warriors proper, I think it’s reasonable to assume that Artemis is open to taking this relationship to the next level.

So. If there’s mutual feelings, and there aren’t any external obstacles, and it’s been 6+ years— why aren’t they a couple?
Part 3: Let’s talk about Wars
Specifically, Wars and his relationship with… relationships. Of the romantic kind.
Since the earliest years of the LU fandom, it’s been fairly well-established that Wars is the resident flirt.
This comes from a few of the side comics, but also from the first-ever Linked Universe post:

Over time, the fandom’s interpretation of these traits seems to have shifted a bit.
Early fanworks tended to depict Warriors as the “Casanova” of the group. More recently (within the last few years), I’ve seen the widespread reading that “women problems” has more to do with Wars’ personal trauma than with a hypothetical reputation as a womanizer.
While these alternate perceptions have a big impact on how we might interpret situations like this—

— surprisingly, it makes very little difference to this self-appointed investigation. Whether he’s a chronic flirt, processing trauma, or both, the fact is that Wars doesn’t seem interested in “settling down” with a definite relationship.
This is clearest, I think, in this panel from “Powerful Ring”:

Warriors is being a tease here, but using the term “shackle” telegraphs a pretty clear opinion. Time even draws a bit of attention to it with his good-natured “aside.” It’s not something you’d say if you were actively looking to get into a long-term, committed relationship.
We’re encroaching on the image limit, but it’s worth noting that Wars’ attitude here contrasts sharply with Sky’s, and even Hyrule’s. Sky is all bashful interest, and Hyrule expresses doubt over his own ability to “settle down” as the Hero. Meanwhile Warriors, who sits between them on the Zelink romance scale, projects pointed, if very light-hearted, distaste (or at least disinterest).
So here’s Warriors’ side, updated:
1. Warriors cares about Artemis, a lot.
2. He also trusts her, a lot.
3. For whatever reason, he doesn’t want to be in an official relationship with her.
Part 4: Conclusion
Okay! Time for the TLDR:
1. Wars and Artemis are almost certainly romantically involved.
2. It’s more than mutual feelings, but less than an established relationship.
3. It’s been at least SIX years since the end of their adventure.
and, finally,
4. Wars himself is the obstacle to taking the relationship further.
Annnnd that’s as far as I can go, without veering off the tracks into headcanon territory.
Of course, while I tried to be as neutral and “canonical” as possible, at the end of the day, this is just speculation! And Esthelle amusing herself tracking down hyper-specific panels in Linked Universe like it’s an Important Assignment and not an Excuse To Read The Comic Again.
Whatever it turns out to look like, there’s so much potential in the Wars-Artemis dynamic! They’re interesting, and we should talk about them more— even if I didn’t plan to write quite this much about them in one post. I can’t wait to see what Jojo has planned.

“WHAT WE MOURN FOR THE DEAD IS THE LOSS OF THEIR HOPES.”
I never thought I’d make this post. Any time I imagined a One Direction member dying, I pictured myself weathered and grey. This was an eventuality that wasn’t supposed to be actualized until the boys and I had lived full lives. To have to come to terms with Liam’s death—his perpetual absence moving forward—in my mid twenties feels absurd. I wrote a long thing the day after I found out, so I’ve already gotten some thoughts out. I’m going to try and keep this short. I likely won’t succeed.
Liam was kind. If he’s remembered for anything, I hope it’s that. I know he helped out with food banks in London during lockdown because there were photos of him packing boxes, but I didn’t know until now how much money he gave them. £80,000 without any publicity. And it wasn’t a one-time donation. He kept working with various orgs to help food insecure people. In the week leading up to that unfortunate Wednesday, he gave away thousands to fundraisers—primarily set up to help people with severe illnesses. He’d been part of Soccer Aid for years. He was involved with anti-bullying campaigns. He worked with Rays of Sunshine to make hundreds of sick children happy. Over the years, he also donated to nonprofits that help children in Gaza and other places. The T-shirt he designed for Choose Love has garnered nearly £200,000; Choose Love has been working with the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund and Medical Aid for Palestinians to provide desperately needed aid in Gaza. Liam understood the value of his wealth, and what his social responsibility was. He did his part to make this world better.
All that without taking into account everything Liam did for us. The youtube videos he started during quarantine because it was a way to distract people, give them something to look forward to. His comedic timing was something special. The discord server where he talked to fans and highlighted their creative endeavors. His livestreams, the endless culture-defining tweets he made. I still see people laughing about his tweets. We all remember Mrs. Horan, yes? I mean, go all the way back to TwitCams. Just google the phrase and one of the first videos you get will be Liam’s. From day one, he took it upon himself to make sure the fans were happy. That we felt seen, heard. And he kept One Direction alive for us, on occasion at a great personal cost. He performed deep cuts we’d never seen sung live, he was always so enthusiastic about everyone else’s projects, he never shied away from talking about the band—because it made us happy. He knew what the band meant to us, the blend of hope and nostalgia many of us clung to, and he held on with us. For us. The masses ridiculed him for his clinginess, and he didn’t let go—for us. I’m sure he knew there are those of us for whom the name One Direction still means everything. And how right he was. Look at the global charts for the past two weeks. We’ve made history again. Because of Liam. He had been the glue holding a lot of the fandom together, whether people realized it or not. He brought us all together again in the most heartbreaking of ways.
One Direction came into my life at a time when I was becoming lonelier by the day. I had moved to a new country two years prior, and I didn’t yet have many friends because I knew only enough English to get by at school. Outside of school, I had no friends. They were all back home in the place I’d left. All I had was my two siblings—and when you’re 13 years old, your 14 yr old sister is hardly the person you want to spend all your time with. I didn’t have space for me, to do and to be something that was just mine.
Then I found 1d through a girl at school and they became that something for me. I bettered my English by watching them talk. I found this community because of them, and I have learned so much from being a part of it. So many wonderful people have touched my life because of them over the years, some I’ve fallen out of touch with and some I hung out with just this month. They—and, by extension, Liam—have made me wealthy in friendship.

Rafa; You have no idea how much you’ve helped build my confidence as a writer. Lyab is a thing of the past now, but those hours you spent fleshing out the details of that fic are priceless to me. You're probably wondering, "If you don't like your art, why do you post it?" Well, because that's what fandom's about. It's not meant to be a competition on who's better or who gets the most interaction. It's about being part of a creative community and interacting with other people. Which is why I get so aggro at re-posters cause they're just regurgitating other peoples contributions while offering nothing themselves. 💢
Anyway, I'm not really sure what to do with myself at the moment. I feel pretty meh about art in general atm, but I'm hoping it comes back to me... Maybe.

I’ve seen a lot of posts on tumblr about ways people behave poorly in fandom towards writers/artists/etc. and what not to do, and many great points have been made! But I also wanted to add to the conversation all the ways that people are amazing and do extremely welcome things
yes, it can be demotivating to create something and have people immediately ask for more. but that’s a very different thing from the lovely folks who send encouragement along the way! if someone has a regular posting schedule/has said the work is complete, sending a message to say you’re excited for it to be posted is LOVELY. it’s so nice to know that kind person is excited to read it, and it helps with the nerves and makes the whole process so fun.
sure, it’s not the best feeling when someone asks you to write (draw, create variously, etc.) some very specific thing that has nothing to do with you. but when you express an interest in a new project and people are encouraging about it?? incredible! so motivating!
I think it’s generally understood that it’s hard for writers/artists/etc. to share their work and put themselves out there, but people who leave comments and messages are also putting themselves out there. It can feel nerve wracking to say what you think - especially taking that next step of being effusive or sharing what it meant to you personally or throwing out a deeper level of analysis - and I’m sure many of us have had experiences of saying something with positive intentions and having the person respond in a really weird way. all acts of communication involve some level of risk (even just of being misunderstood) and it’s amazing that people are willing to do that to encourage a random stranger on the internet.
I’ll get messages - incredible, amazing, perfect messages - that start with the person apologizing and making it clear that they’re worried about being rude or committing a social faux pas, and like, yes, there is some shitty behaviour in fandom, but also, oh my god. The amount of good stuff??????? there is so so so much good stuff. the vastest majority is SO GOOD. all the jokes about the lack of reading comprehension on tumblr are hilarious and many times true, but I also think tumblr has the best readers on the internet. the perceptive, insightful, intelligent, thoughtful and generous way that people engage with fandom is spectacular.
it’s been well articulated how writers/artists/etc are using their spare time to create something for free, and that’s a thing to be celebrated (and it is!!!!), but likewise readers etc. are using their free time to engage with those materials and THAT is also a gift. people have truly endless options for how to spend their energy online, and the fact that someone choses to engage with fan-created works?? how wonderful. If you’ve ever taken a creative writing workshop, you know how awful it can be to be forced to read other people’s writing.
so, yes, the act of creating is a gift to fandom and fandom literally couldn’t exist without it. but it’s also true that the act of engaging with someone’s creative work is a gift, without which fandom wouldn’t exist.

ok i know ur not -really- my dad lmao just let me cope. i lost mine, so you're stuck with that title now. anyway. i just felt like telling you how great things seem to be going for me rn (fuck i hope i don't curse it). i've been a fan for a long ass time, but i got into the GO fandom only last year, and in just a few months i feel like i've gotten so much better, both mental health wise and creatively. i'm a neat little bundle of depression, anxiety, autiADHD, BPD, and cPTSD. isn't that lovely haha. but hey, i'm also a writer. a poet. an artist. and a helluva burned out musician. BUT. ever since i've been hanging out here, i've been writing SO much more, i've been doing fanfics, and so many cool poems, and improving my writing skills so much. i started drawing again after like 2 years of not touching a goddamn pencil, and i just bought some paint and a canvas bc i wanna get back into painting again like i used to when i was younger. and also through reading other GO fics, i've felt inspired to play piano again, which was a great deal to me a few years back. and it's awesome to feel that spark again.
Good Omens has meant a lot to me since i first read it around 2015. but now more than ever because there's a whole community i can share stuff about it with and it feels great. i recently lost a close group of friends, one of my best friends to suicide, and well. my irl dad. and i've been feeling hella lonely for a long time. but i feel like i've been gaining that sense of community again through good omens. and i can't tell you enough how much it means to me. so, idk. i guess i wanted to say thanks for that. and also for being so supportive of trans/queer people. it means the world to me. so. thanks dad. ily

There has been more than enough drama about this whole situation so I will be as direct and concise as I can. This will be my last post about the matter regarding Myka/codslut. This will likely be my last post on this blog period.
This fandom community has crucified me over a story that has fallen apart over what I can only describe as the lightest scrutiny. FOIA requests, when expedited, have a ten day window to be granted, not a twelve hour window, and normally take months to even years to grant. Americans do not call small towns villages. Crisis workers do not have unfettered, immediate access to clients' personal information, let alone that of complete strangers on the internet.
I am not exaggerating when I say I have feared for my safety for the past week. The three people who have lead the charge against me have slandered, harassed, and outright stalked me—keeping track of posts I've made and deleted, changes I've made to my directory, and even the time between posts I have made. I have genuinely feared that the next step these people were going to take would be to search both of my blogs (because I have not, in the past, been very concerned about hiding my main) for my personal information in order to dox me.
I believe this campaign has been racist ("gaz erasure my ass") and ableist in nature. I believe my being autistic—and my trouble communicating in a way that could satisfy the aforementioned people this entire week—has played a part in the way this fandom has victimized me.
I believe in particular that sheheal has a personal vendetta against me, although I do not know why. I believe that their claim that they must leave their blog up as "evidence" is false—I believe they are keeping it active in order that it should always be digitally connected to me, and thus risk my safety and peace in whatever online space I choose to be in next. I am entertaining the belief that she even intends for it to follow me in real life, although that may be more paranoia than possibility.
I am aware of the mistakes I have made. I regret them. I am sorry for them. If what has happened to me is representative of what happened to Myka, I have nothing but empathy for her. Even before this happened, I would not wish this on anyone. I do not believe that dogpiling is justice, and have fought against it when I have seen it happening in this fandom in the past. I did not and do not want this to happen to anyone, ever, no matter their sins.
I want to extend a gratitude I find difficult to express the depth of to everyone who reached out to check on me. I especially want to thank Early for being the first person to stick their neck out for me, and for everything after. I hope to be friends with you all for a long time. You mean more to me than you know. You have made a lonely and difficult week feel less lonely and difficult.
I do not want to be a part of this fandom anymore. I have poured over a year and a half of work and creative energy into this community and it has meant nothing. I have loved this community and it has meant nothing. I have fought for this community and it has meant nothing.
If fandom was ever a safe space, it is not anymore. It is not safe for those affected by racism and it is not safe for those affected by disability. It is not safe for anyone who makes mistakes. It is not safe for me, and reader, it is not safe for you. I did not think this would happen to me. Do not make the mistake of thinking this won't happen to you.

I've heard through the grapevine that Epic artists are getting massive amounts of hate over on TikTok and feel like I need to say something.
I don't have TikTok (and with each passing day I am more and more relieved that I don't) and I utilise my tags here on tumblr to avoid the toxic parts of this sight to the best of my ability. So to hear that others who have proven themselves to be incredible and amazing people are getting hate from those who don't understand basic human decency and fandom etiquette makes my blood boil.
I understand that as fandoms grow more problems, drama and just general shittiness is bound to arise, but you don't have to - AND SHOULDN'T - contribute to it. I took the risk and followed a link onto TikTok to see for myself, and I cannot believe what I've seen.
You are allowed to have opinions, constructive criticism and personal preferences when it comes to a fandom, the media it is for and the media it creates in turn. BUT don't be a dick about it. Don't you EVER put down another person for creating something that they can and should be proud of or hate them for daring to try something new with the media that they like. And don't EVER attack people with accusations for trying out a different ship or spread misinformation about artists because you saw something that you didn't like. (God forbid someone draw a female's figure without it being declared sexualising or whatever other bullshit you people claim it to be🙄).
I might not engage with every different sort of art in this fandom but I certainly don't hate it because it's not my thing. AND YOU shouldn't try to devalue it because you don't like it. You are rude, entitled and ungrateful. They don't owe you their time and creativity.
This fandom would not be as incredible as it is without the people that are brave enough to put their own creativity out into the world for the rest of us to see. If you can't appreciate that then you shouldn't be here and you don't deserve to enjoy what this fandom has to offer. I doubt with those hateful, snobbish opinions of yours you'd be able to do or make something better. I also doubt that you would enjoy being on the receiving end of such hate either.
Fandoms are meant to be a place to learn, expand, create and connect. If you're not capable of showing decency then do us all a favor and remove yourself, you're not wanted here.
To all of this communities incredible artists (of all different mediums, styles and ideas) you are incredible and changed my life for the better. I wouldn't be here without all of you, and I can say the same for hundreds, if not thousands, of others. You helped build this community, and just know that there are infinitely more people who stand by and appreciate you than there are mob-mental hate-driven fools who only dare say what they do because they have other TikTok commenters and anonymous messages to hide behind.

You are so sweet and take the time to answer so many asks, even ones that are similar to ones you've done before or straight up repeats. You're seriously the best! Just wanted to let you know how appreciated it is.
I feel like so many asks have come from people who struggle with self esteem (myself included, I've sent a few your way) and who are fond of Gale because he builds up those he loves. So I guess I also wanted to add that 1) you're amazing for treating us vulnerable souls with such grace and love (just like Gale would <3), holy cow has it made my day so many times and 2) I hope it's not emotionally taxing on you to give that support to so many in need - it almost feels like you're a Gale-channeling-therapist at times, lol.
I maybe am feeling extra mushy around Valentine's Day. Whatever it is, its inspiring me to give you some thanks, some extra love, and make sure you are also taken care of like you've taken care of so many of us!

I’ve received so many sweet messages over the time I’ve had this blog, you all are so incredibly kind. I typically haven’t reposted those messages (I just save them & keep them close to my heart ❤️) because I want my blog to be about Gale, not me!
I made an exception for this message for a few reasons. First, because this was received around Valentine’s day in February, which is the perfect way to illustrate how far behind I am on asks! So I want to take this opportunity to beg for forgiveness, and to apologize to anyone who sent in an ask that got lost in the void™️ and/or had me too stumped to answer. I will probably temporarily close asks so I can catch up a bit, but don’t worry, it will only be temporary.
And second, because Anon asked if I find this emotionally taxing, and I want you all to know the answer is no, no, a thousand times no. The complete opposite actually. I started this blog as a creative outlet that I desperately needed, because while I really do enjoy my corporate design job, I needed something more. I needed somewhere I could be funny and goofy and do whatever I wanted with my designs, or just rave about my favorite character, or share my ramblings on a certain fandom subject, etc. The fact that you all have been so supportive has been the icing on the cake.
But now it’s more than just that. I don’t get political on this blog (because again, I want to keep it about Bg3 and Gale, not me) but I’m struggling with shame and fury as my country sinks even deeper into fascism and hatred, as the government betrays our allies, and basic kindness and empathy for other people—especially the most vulnerable among us—is washed away.
But then I get to come on here and get messages from you all, with questions where I can see what a sweet and genuine person you are, to remind me that there are still so many good people in the world. And it’s my favorite thing to channel Gale to tell you that yes of course he would love you, it doesn’t matter what you look like or what size you are, you have a good, decent heart, and my god what a tremendous feat that is in a world like this. What amazing strength it takes, to wake up everyday and still, despite everything, choose kindness. And you all continue to do it. ❤️
Finally, I want to assure you that I am well taken care of! I have the most amazing husband who is my real-life Gale (with a good bit of Geralt thrown in for good measure 😍) and whom I love more every single day. So I have everything I need to be fulfilled—my ridiculously large romance collection, my pixel wizard, my real-life husband, the amazing Galemancer community, and this blog.

2024 Fandom review

When I was in third grade, I wrote a short story about a girl who had been shrunken down to the size of a grape and had to find a way to grow back to her regular size. My teacher wrote a note on that story that said I should be a writer when I grow up- I held onto that even though all my adults told me writing wasn't a good career choice. I guess they never thought about the alternative, which is writing fluff and smut for free on godless AO3 😂 I can't explain how much every single comment means to me, the little community we have here, it is truly such a wonderful space and I feel like I gained so much in 2024 just by being a part of it. Thank you for being here and reading my words. I started reading and writing Young Royals fic in 2024, so it was a truly magical year.

Spinning Yarns at Omo's Palace

It’s rare to finish a Doctor Who story and you think, “That felt personal.” Not in that it was aimed at you, but rather that the story meant something to its writer. This isn’t to say that Doctor Who doesn’t utilise morals or messaging. Russell T Davies has given us a healthy dose of messaging in both of his eras. What’s less common, however, is when the story feels like a personal expression from an individual’s lived experience. It’s rare to find such individualistic stories which also work. Robert Holmes delivered a muddled take on paying taxes with “The Sunmakers.” Chris Chibnall explored his own experience with adoption with the self-insert Timeless Child storyline. But here, with “The Story and the Engine,” writer Inua Ellams satisfies both the desire to tell a personal story and the need to deliver some solid Doctor Who. And deliver he did.
The story of Inua Ellams’ hiring as a writer is like one of those old Hollywood stories. He contacted Davies only to discover that both Davies and Gatwa had previously expressed an interest in working with the poet and playwright. It was as if he were fated to write for Doctor Who. Perhaps it felt too good to be true, because Ellams wrote this story like it was his one chance to leave his mark. Because of this, we see a lot of elements from Ellams’ work within the episode. His play “Barber Shop Chronicles” explores the home-away-from-home aspect of barber shops in African cities. He even uses the same anecdote about Yo-Yo Ma’s trip through Botswana. Because of this, Ellams’ DNA is woven throughout the story, and yet it never loses its identity as a Doctor Who story.
Following the theme of season two, much of “The Story and the Engine,” is dedicated to exploring the nature of storytelling. In this case it explores the communal and cultural significance of having a place where one feels safe to share. When we join the Doctor and Belinda, they’re in the middle of a well-trodden topic- the Doctor needs to get Belinda home. This is when the Doctor gets the bright idea to take the vindicator to Lagos, Nigeria. The Doctor doesn’t use this as an opportunity to go ghost hunting, instead, he’s respecting Belinda’s boundaries by calibrating the vindicator only. It’s Belinda who pushes the narrative further when she asks the Doctor about Lagos. This is when the Doctor confides in Belinda that its a place where he feels safe to be himself. Belinda understands this from her own perspective and encourages the Doctor to go see his friends at his favourite barbershop, Omo’s Palace.

Before we continue, I would just like to cheekily celebrate the fact that I called it about the TARDIS doing the Doctor’s hair. I’m not saying I’m a genius, but it is kinda wild that just two weeks ago, I mentioned it, and now here it is in an episode. Should I play the lottery this week? I kid, but what this speaks to is that there is a clarity this season between the show and the audience. Clearly the crew want us to think about Doctor Who in creative ways. The show gets that the hair and costumes mean something to a wide portion of the fandom. There are whole theories about how the longer Capaldi or Pertwee are in the TARDIS, the crazier their hair gets. So believe me when I say, it’s not far off for the show to do an episode about the importance of hair.
The Doctor beams as he greets the people selling their wares in the Lagos open-air market. He calls people “Auntie” and “Uncle.” They have special handshakes and inside jokes. I understand the people at Bad Wolf Studios looked into actually filming in Africa, but it wasn’t feasible for the budget. Instead, they brought in consultants to bring authenticity to their fake Lagos set. It’s a really lovely attention to detail. When the set is full of extras, it really works. It feels like a set, but in that classic Doctor Who way. Though when the set is deserted, it does look a bit like the marbles room from Squid Game. Having just sold us on the idea that space is a premium in the marketplace, it’s automatically suspicious just how empty the street is outside Omo’s Palace. Combine that with missing persons posters and a keep out sign, and you’re going to need twelve deadlocks and a panther to keep the Doctor out.

The Doctor enters Omo’s and immediately the vibes are off. For starters, all of the shop’s clients are the men from the missing posters- Omo, Rashid, Tunde, and Obioma. And strangely, while the sign outside says Omo’s Palace, a stranger stands ready to cut people’s hair. Omo has been telling the men about the Doctor, the greatest story he has to tell. When Omo was a boy, the Doctor stopped his village from burning to the ground. Since then, Omo’s shop has become a safe place for the Doctor to come and relax. He trusts Omo, so when Omo encourages the Doctor to sit in the Barber’s chair and share a story, the Doctor trusts that it would be safe to do so. Instead, the Doctor can feel the wrongness of the ritual as the Barber’s cape holds him down as if extracting the story.

The Doctor tells a simple story about Belinda to such a vivid degree that the paintings that manifest on the wall from people’s stories look photo-realistic. The story goes that Belinda was finishing a long shift and was headed home to celebrate her nan’s birthday. However, she catches something in a patient’s symptoms that saves the patient’s life and also costs her her evening with her gran. It’s a very modern Doctor Who story for the Doctor to tell. The Doctor is always going on about the nobility of living a normal life. It’s also a cheeky way for them to throw a brief little Mrs Flood cameo in there. It is a little interesting that the Doctor’s story contained Mrs Flood. It’s almost as if Mrs Flood orchestrated her involvement. What does it mean for her to appear in his story in that moment? And why hasn’t the Doctor recognised her yet? You would think he would notice after Susan Twist. Maybe that’s part of Mrs Flood’s plan. An old lady hiding in plain sight? They’d never do it twice! That’s like robbing the same bank!

One downside about having ADHD is that our minds wander even when we’re engaged. I’ve had conversations with people where I stop listening to them because they were so interesting that my mind wandered. I kept thinking about their point and they kept talking. I do this with books as well. And I did it with this episode. There were so many profound and interesting moments that I had to rewatch this episode because I kept getting caught up in its concepts. And I do mean caught up and not lost. Never once does the episode lose its central thread, though it does keep some aspects a bit vague. I mean all of this as a compliment. I like that it’s an episode that’s actually about something. And I like that it leaves an air of mystery. I’ve said it often in the past that I love it when stories maintain a bit of mystery at the end. I’m reminded of “The Magnus Archives” or the first season of “American Horror Story.” Two different stories, which I enjoyed thoroughly until they gave away too much information. Sometimes an enduring mystery allows us to keep thinking. Solving a mystery can put too fine a point on things. The imagination has nowhere to go.

Perhaps one of the more enduring mysteries at the end of the episode is why the missing men’s hair grows back after telling a story. I’m in two minds about this. I can imagine a few reasons why their hair grows back, but it’s never fully explained. But part of me wonders if this wasn’t either a muddled explanation or perhaps a missed opportunity. We know from reading the missing posters that the men have been gone for about five years. The youngest of the men, Tunde, was only 19 years old when he was taken by the Barber. Tunde is also a footballer, which puts a bit of a ticking clock on his absence. Every day he’s stuck in the barbershop is a day further from his prime. If the growing of the hair was because sharing their stories aged the men, then it would add to that tension. Perhaps the others take his place to keep him from ageing out of his future as an athlete. It would add an even greater sense of urgency and an element of self-sacrifice. That being said, we understand enough about the hair growth to follow the story. People tell stories, the stories power the big spider vehicle, which causes their hair to grow.

Meanwhile, every time someone enters the shop or powers the spider, the TARDIS lights up all red and klaxxony. I found myself laughing at the way Belinda speaks to the TARDIS. She has no sense of wonder for any of it, and I find that hilarious. I half expected this to be a “The Lodger” situation, where the episode is a companion-lite story by having the companion get tossed about on the very cheap to film on TARDIS set. And if it was one of those episodes, they did a great job utilising Varada Sethu’s screentime because it hardly feels like it. Belinda’s method of tapping the TARDIS console and speaking directly to it surprisingly yields results. I like that the TARDIS listens to Belinda and shows her Omo’s Palace on the viewer. I like those times when the TARDIS relents to the companion’s pathetic attempt at interfacing. She may not talk, but she listens.

Belinda struggles her way through the marketplace. It's a sharp contrast to the way the Doctor weaves through the crowd. In a brief cameo, Inua Ellams plays a stallholder who gets into a brief altercation with Belinda over what appears to be spilled yams. Speaking of cameos in this scene, was that a Space Baby standing outside the babershop? Initially I took her to be a young Abby. I expected it to be a glimpse into how she knows the Doctor. Then I get online and everyone is like "ThAt WaS pOpPy FrOm SpAcE bAbIeS!" Does it mean anything more? The Doctor seemed to shrug it off as his story leaking out of the Nexus. But considering the emphasis on storytelling at the moment, that could still have deeper implications. Kinda cool.

The introduction of Abby with her abundance of food is your classic save the cat moment. She feeds the lads so we know she’s got some good in her. However, Abby kisses her teeth at the Doctor as if unimpressed, but it’s not until later that the Doctor learns Abby and he have a history, though maybe not so much with this incarnation of the Doctor. After learning that Abby is short for Abena, the daughter of the spider god Anansi, the Doctor remembers how they met each other. In classic Fugitive Doctor style, Jo Martin makes a brief cameo where she stands in place of the current Doctor and delivers a single line of dialogue. It’s sort of her main thing. Standing and talking. One day, we might even get to see her do something. This isn’t to say I wasn’t wildly excited to see her. Honestly, the further we get from Chibnall, the happier I am to see her. I was excited by the prospect of seeing what a writer of Ellams’ calibre could do with her. I get why it was just a cameo, but damn, let a girl run down a corridor or something.

Long ago, the Doctor left Abena with her father, where he was free to continue using her as a betting chip against strange men and women. Abena learned to distrust her father and the Doctor, leaving her vulnerable to the Barber’s controlling nature. Having spent the majority of his long life feeling unappreciated as the keeper of the Gods’ stories, the Barber plans to pilot the spider to the centre of the story Nexus, where he will unravel the stories of the Gods, thus negating their existence. If you’ve read Terry Pratchett’s “Small Gods,” then you’ll have a good understanding of the way the Barber operates. The Gods grow strong through our stories about them. People’s faith in the Gods feeds them. Cut that off, and you cut off the life force of the Gods. Cut off the Gods and you cut off people’s capacity to think, to imagine, and to hope. Though considering the Gods we’ve met in the last two seasons of Doctor Who, I’m yet to see evidence of a benevolent God, until Abena.

The Doctor’s honesty toward Abena and the men’s prostrations bring out the true Goddess within Abena. Now it is her time to tell a story. She sets the Doctor in front of her while she weaves cornrows into his hair. She tells a story about how enslaved people once fooled their enslavers by mapping the road to freedom within their hair. They would pass these maps on to others through their hair, and nobody was ever the wiser. Neither my boyfriend nor I knew this, and we both sat there, mouths agape at the brilliance of such a concept. When Doctor Who was initially developed, there was always a plan to use the time-travel aspect of the story to give history lessons. This might be one of the finest examples Doctor Who teaching history. Not only was it fascinating to learn, but it also plays into the story. I can’t stress how much I loved this. Incredible.

The Doctor and Belinda follow the Doctor’s hair through a labyrinth in the back of the shop to make their way to the engine of the spider vehicle. The engine looked like a cross between a baobab tree and something Delia Deetz would have sculpted. It also reminded me of the TARDIS’ architectural reconfiguration system from “Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS.” I find it interesting that there is so much machinery and tech surrounding the Gods in this episode. As Gods go, this use of technology evokes the Thor movies over fire and brimstone, and not just because the Doctor namedrops the Thor movies. It makes me wonder if perhaps none of these “Gods,” are as magical as “The Wild Blue Yonder” would imply. Instead, it feels more like Arthur C Clarke’s idea that any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

The engine sits surrounded by relics of every world religion. There are books and televisions feeding stories to the story engine. The Doctor lights up the machine with the six-word story of his life- “I live. I die. I live.” The life cycle of a Time Lord. It is now apparent why the Doctor told such a pedestrian story with Belinda’s life-saving moment at work. The totality of the Doctor’s lives flickers across the screens in the typical montage of past Doctors. The Barber is excited by this surge of power to his engine, but it’s too much power for the vehicle to withstand. Oddly, it was Belinda who delivered this information. I was left scratching my head as to how she would know the engine was about to blow. That felt like more of a line for the Doctor. I guess they realised Belinda hadn’t spoken in some time. With things about to blow, the Barber’s only option is to evacuate Omo’s Palace with haste. I found the destruction of the vehicle a bit strange. The spider never comes off as a menacing creature, but as it explodes and tries in vain to claw its way out of the shop, it feels like more of a villain than a vehicle. Appropriately, the clip the engine room played of the Ninth Doctor from “The Doctor Dances,” was precisely the one this final escape brought to mind. “Just this once, everybody lives.”

When I watched this episode with my sister, she expressed surprise at the mercy shown to the Barber. But when you think of it, the last time someone kidnapped a person for a five-year journey was “Gridlock,” and Milo and Cheen weren’t evil, just desperate. The Doctor forgives Omo, who also forgives the Barber. Omo even gifts him the barbershop and his father’s name, Adétòkunbo. Omo has more important things than cutting hair, like meeting up with the girl in the blue earrings from his photo. It’s an uplifting ending that I hadn’t expected. But it’s heartening to see that not only is Doctor Who becoming more of a space for diverse voices, but one that allows for those voices to express joy. I don’t want to watch trans stories where trans people overcome death and oppression. I can read the news for that. I want to see trans people befriend the Meep. Black fans deserve these moments in Doctor Who without also having to give a pound of flesh.

I spoke last week about the importance of Doctor Who as a bit of escapism. But where do we escape to if not our safe space? This episode feels huge in that respect. A black Doctor, hell, two black Doctors, a mostly black cast, and a black director have come together to bring us what is possibly one of the most heartfelt and joyous episodes in the show’s history. The show has a lot to atone for. It took the show 20 years to hire its first woman writer and 55 years to hire its first writers of colour. But this feels like a step toward making the fandom a safe space for people of colour. It feels monumental, no matter how long it took them to get to this point. This may end up being one of my favourite episodes of modern Doctor Who. The only people this stands to alienate are those who thought Doctor Who was a safe space to be a bigot. Because that was delightful.
