CW: Racism and slavery.
Alright, let’s open up this can of worms.
Let’s talk about race and how it pertains to Viv’s shows.
No, I don’t think Viv and Adam are inherently racist, they just don’t know how to write for a BIPOC audience.
Viv’s shows (Like most western shows) are written with a white audience in mind. Because let’s face it, white folks don’t like to talk about race. That’s why a lot of shows that do tackle the issue of race and racism do it in a way that’s very surface level, as they don’t want to make white folks uncomfortable.
Even shows that are written by BIPOC writers have to dumb everything down when it comes to race because that’s sadly one of the only ways to get white folks to listen.
For example the Brooklyn Nine Nine episode Moo Moo (Which was written by a black writer) does tackle the issue of racial profiling, but it does so in that after school special way. Where it’s so basic and surface level that it almost feels insulting? And the fact that the episode completely ignores all the systemic racism that’s prevalent in the NYPD somehow makes it even worse.
Seriously, the episode ends with Terry’s application for a liaison job getting denied because he filed a complaint against a racist cop. And Holt’s all like “At least you did the right thing.”
Now, I haven’t really talked about any of the Hazbin/Helluva lore in great detail because it’s a hot gigantic mess of titanian proportions. And trying to make any sense of it from a narrative perspective is headache inducing, but for the sake of this analysis I decided to make an exception.
It’s pretty obvious that the Imps are supposed to represent the lower class, the majority of Imps we see in the series are stuck with low level jobs, involved in shady activities or are willing to kill to survive.
A good writer would have used the concept to highlight the many injustices that are caused by systems that are hell bent on keeping systemic racism alive to ensure that white elites stay in power.
But Viv and Adam don’t give a shit about that, as they know that tackling those sorts of issues is bound to upset their white audience. So they just don’t bother.
The lore feels like set dressing, i.e something that’s only there to make the audience think that there is much more to Viv’s shows than meets the eye, but there really isn’t.
Helluva Boss’ racist class system is introduced, but it isn’t really all that fleshed out. Because Viv doesn’t really care about exploring themes that mirror real world issues, all she cares about is watching her characters fornicate or make out with each other.
Not saying that every adult show has to have a deeper meaning or challenge people’s worldviews, but having a toxic relationship between a slave and his slave master in a dumb demon cartoon is pretty fucked up, not going to lie.

Hellaverse's World Building Problems (100 Follower Special!)
World-building is one of the most important things in any fantasy show, it fleshes out the setting the characters live in and tells you how things work. Unfortunately, Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss have several issues when it comes to they're world-building that harm both series and in this post, I'm going to discuss them.
1. Obsession with Pride
An issue I have with Hellaverse's world-building is that, for some reason, sinners aren't allowed in any other ring outside of the pride ring. So, this creates a few problems. The first is that Hazbin Hotel can now only use one setting rather than the other six it has because the characters are forced to be stuck there, so we'll have to use the same exact setting in a world with six more.
This wouldn't be such a problem if it weren't for the fact that the pride ring itself is an extremely boring setting, it just looks like our world except red, and there's nothing unique or interesting about it aside from there being demons there.
The only place in the pride ring that has any potential to be interesting is cannibal town, and even then, it just looks like a normal town, there isn't exactly any cannibalization in it to be seen.
The other rings at least have interesting themes to them that make them distinct from each other, the pride ring is just some boring city painted in red. Then there's the issue of why sinners are even kept in the pride ring at all?
I'll go into this more later but the hierarchy in hell is very inconsistent at times. Imps are supposed to be lower class than sinners yet they have access to all the rings while sinners can only be in one. So why would Lucifer keep the sinners in the pride ring and only in the pride ring? The show doesn't bother giving an explanation for this at all.
I've seen the argument go around that it makes the exorcists do their job more effectively which while does make sense...it also doesn't exactly do very well for Lucifer as a character if he intentionally kept his own people in one ring so killing them would be easier. It loses a lot of sympathy points for him for me.
Besides, the show itself still needs to explain these plot holes rather than forcing fans to make fan theories over it. Seriously, I searched this question up on Google and I found so many people asking this, and all of the responses to the posts were people just making educated guesses because the show itself never bothered to actually EXPLAIN this.
So it's not even all of Hell having an overpopulation problem, it's just the pride ring specifically because sinners are confined there forever. If Charlie wants to solve Hell's overpopulation problem, why not ask her daddy to let sinners into other rings? (Assuming she doesn't know the actual reason why Heaven does this which totally does create serious issues with the show) Again, it's just the pride ring having an overpopulation problem, not all of Hell, so why Charlie never figured this out is beyond me.
But confining the characters to the pride ring creates more issues than just that, because now the show can't flesh out the other rings because it forces the characters to be stuck in just one.
So, you get the next issue with Hellaverse's world-building...
2. Packing World Building in a spin-off
Because Hazbin Hotel can't flesh out its world itself, it needs to rely on its spin-off, Helluva Boss, to flesh it out instead. This becomes a problem when you look at Hazbin as a stand-alone show separate from Helluva Boss; if you did not watch Helluva Boss, Hazbin's world-building would come across as fairly underdeveloped due to the characters being confined to one ring, so the other rings wouldn't get much fleshing out or development causing Hell as a setting to feel underdeveloped.
Hazbin Hotel is the main series of Hellaverse, it should be able to stand on its own as a stand-alone show and should not need a spin-off to flesh out its world-building. A new viewer should not have to watch a spin-off show to get more out of the main show's world-building, the main show should've fleshed out its world itself rather than rely on a spin-off for it.
This is why confining the characters to just the pride ring is a bad idea, the show can't flesh out its world now and it has to rely on a spin-off series to do that, so in order for a new viewer to experience more of the other rings, they would need to watch a spin-off show which is entirely supplemental material that one normally does not need to watch to understand things about a story.
Without HB, the other rings in Hazbin are very underexplored and underdeveloped, because we never get to see them or flesh them out. It needs to rely on its spin-off to flesh out its world, and that's bad because a spin-off is SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL. A viewer should not need to watch supplemental stuff to understand things about the main show, it should not be a required watch to get more of the world-building fleshed out.
Though, if anything, Helluva Boss just creates more world-building problems within the franchise, such as...
3. Hell's Hierarchy
So, in the Hazbin Hotel, there is a hierarchy in Hell. The order from most power to least is...
Lucifer
Charlie and Lilith
The Seven Deadly Sins
Ars Goetias
Overlords
Sinners
Hell Borns
Imps and Hell-Hounds
The problem here is that Hell's hierarchy is constantly ignored or broken by both of the shows. For example, Sinners and Overlords are confined to only the pride ring, meanwhile, Imps and Hell hounds, who are LOWER CLASS than Sinners and Overlords, are allowed to go to any ring that they like.
Then there's Beelzebub, whose mere existence causes issues. Let's get the obvious out of the way; why is a HELLHOUND one of the deadly sins when those are supposed to be just as lower class as imps? This could work if Beelzebub specifically had the least amount of power of the sins, but she doesn't.
FURTHERMORE, once we just ignore the fact that Beelzebub is a sin despite being a hellhound, we then have to open the can of worms that is her having a boyfriend who is also a hellhound, and...nobody cares about this?
I'm sorry, if a sin is perfectly allowed to date a hell hound in public, then why is it such a big deal when Stolas and Ozzie are caught fucking imps? Do the other sins not know about this??? Does Lucifer not know about this??? If so, why not??? Surely one of them being in a relationship with a hellhound would get they're attention...right?
And if they do know about this then again, why is it such a big deal that a Goetia Prince is sleeping with an imp and a sin, who is ABOVE HIM IN TERMS OF POWER, being in a relationship with a hellhound, who are just as if not MORE lower-class than imps, not? It's a confusing inconsistency.
Also, and I JUST REALIZED THIS, but what even happens when a sin or goetia is found out to be fucking an imp or hell hound? Seriously, what consequences does that sin or goetia even face? Stolas has been exposed for fucking Blitz ever since the end of season 1 yet he has received NO consequences at all, and like I said, Beezlebulb is allowed to be in a relationship with someone who is on the SAME LEVEL AS IMPS.
So why would Ozzie even need to hide his relationship with Fizz at all? What are the consequences for being in a relationship with a hellhound or imp? So far, there appears to be absolutely none! So why is it even that big of a deal when Stolas gets found out? Why does Ozzie need to hide his relationship with Fizz if there aren't going to be any consequences for it?
These plot holes hurt my BRAIN to think about. There is no consistency here, Hell's Hierarchy barely fucking matters in either of the shows, and characters higher up in the hierarchy are allowed to do SEVERAL things with lower classes and face no consequences despite the show trying to say they would. Oh, but all of what I just mentioned are just issues with HELL's world-building, now it's time to get into...
4. Heaven
I already talked about the problems with Heaven in the show so I won't dwell on the issues I've already talked about too much, however, Heaven still has many world-building issues like Hell does. For one, as I've already pointed out, we don't even know how Heaven even WORKS.
I already asked these questions before but like. How does one get into Heaven? What are the requirements for what make a good or bad person? We don't actually know and we never will because Heaven for SOME REASON doesn't have it's own criteria for what does or doesn't make a good person...
...WHY??!? Why don't they have this??? So how does one even GET into Heaven at all???? We have no idea of how Heaven works because the show never actually bothers putting in the effort to explain that.
Who even decides whether or not to get into Heaven??? Who is in charge of that??? Answer: We don't fucking know. Sera mentions the "divine judgment", which, after a quick Google search, says "the action of God's retributive justice by which the destiny of rational creatures is decided according to their merits and demerits"
So basically god decides who goes into Heaven or Hell, which would make sense...if it weren't for the fact, from what I've heard from other blogs...Viv said that god doesn't exist in HH or HB...so...
...divine judgment by WHO EXACTLY???? The lack of explanation of what does or doesn't get somebody into Heaven is made worse with Pentious getting into Heaven in the season finale.
I have already complained about this multiple times but like. HOW DID PENTIOUS GET INTO HEAVEN???? WHY DID HE GET INTO HEAVEN???????? He literally got killed by Adam! He should be a bunch of energy right out according to the wiki! Yet he makes it into Heaven anyway???? WHY????? The show never explains this at all! The only thing resembling a logical explanation I could find was on the wiki and even then the article was just speculating because again, the show didn't bother to actually explain this.
Viv. Can you PLEASE for the love of god (no pun intended) actually explain the rules of your world and its world-building? People should not have to create theories to patch up plot holes in your world-building, actually, EXPLAIN this shit for once.
Oh, and I'm still not done, because now there's the fact that the entirety of Heaven and most of Heaven's higher-ups except for Sera never knew of the exterminations, which creates MORE plot holes.
Did none of Heaven's citizens or other higher-ups question why the exorcists had BLOOD on them when they came back from Hell? Wouldn't have any of them put two and two together and think "Hey so they are probably killing people down there". Did none of them even question what was the point of the exorcists at all? How was Sera able to hide this stuff? Once again, the show doesn't answer ANY OF THIS.
Oh, and I'm STILL not done, because now, it's time to open the can of worms that apparently does not exist in this universe.....WHY?!?!? According to Google, the angels were created BY GOD. So, if he doesn't exist, how did the angels exist either? Who created them??? Heck, who even created HEAVEN ITSELF?????? Removing god from this universe creates so many issues and breaks the entire show. sigh, ok, I think that's enough....
5. Conclusion
So, Hellaverse's world-building has MANY issues. There are a lot of plot holes and thoughts about it that don't get answered, as well as hell itself, specifically the pride ring being incredibly boring visually. Not to mention a lot of the world-building is packed into a SPIN-OFF SHOW. So...ya, hope you liked my post, and thank y'all for 100 followers! So...bye.

Mr Chai, Mr Chai!! The audience wants to know: how would you personally rewrite helluva boss if it was entirely up to you? Any changes to casting, animation and story you want are on the table, and you have unlimited peacock taxidermy money to spend!
- 🍳
Here's an extremely rough outline of Helluva Boss: Chai's the Captain Now.
Very similar in tone to the pilot. Lots of loud, crass, chaotic nonsense but with heart. Very edgy for the sake of it, very Brandon Rogers.
A lot of focus on I.M.P.'s day-to-day work life, which frequently involves the sinners but also takes us all around Hell.
Hellhounds have ravenous appetites and are responsible for hunting and eating sinners that attempt to leave Pride. Loona, like all hellhounds, is constantly noshing.
Stolas is in line with his pilot self, less cold and manipulative and more foppish and delusional, but still the embodiment of everything awful about Hell's ruling class and an obstacle for Blitzo to navigate. He's a fallen angel in a miserable marriage of convenience, and between his long lifespan and unhappy relationship, Blitzo is a burst of color and excitement.
There's no full moon deal but Blitzo's still uncomfortably indebted to Stolas, has to appease him in other ways, and Stolas continuously sexually harasses him. It's initially played for comedy, but gets less funny as time goes on.
Stella's every bit as entitled and awful as her husband, but not impossible to reach, and she sincerely adores Octavia.
The overarching theme is just how much it sucks to be an imp or a hellhound, but even middle class demons like the succubi don't have it all that great.
Octavia's birth and conception are a very, very big deal because the children of Goetias are some of the only demons in Hell that stand to survive the apocalypse.
Millie actually does things. Her trans brother is allowed to stay trans, and because life on the Wrath ring is especially hard, we see a fair bit of her family.
Striker marks the start of the show morphing into an "eat the rich" story.
As I.M.P. grow closer and Blitzo slowly but surely faces his demons and becomes a better person for the sake of his employees who depend on him, he pushes away from Stolas. This in turn has the effect of making Stolas do some thinking about the kind of person he wants to be, but they don't end up together in the end.
Last but not least, Millie's still Erica and Stolas is still Brock. Because this is my party.

I don't know anything about Helluva Boss but you usually have cool taste (I've been following this blog for years) and your reblogs and art are making me curious about it!!! What do you like about it? I bet you'll already recommend it because you enjoy it so much but I wanna ask! What does it mean to you? How did you get hooked on it so quickly?
First off, thanks for sticking around for so long! I can only hope we're mutuals at this point but I don't know for sure because you're on anon! Anyways thanks for following me for so long! Even with all the fandom changes lol you're a real trooper! To answer your question, I love pretty much everything about it! The animation is literally STUNNING, the color pallets rock, the characters are complex, funny, and really relatable at times, and plus my gay ass loves all the canon queer main characters and their relationships! Also HELLO??? THE VOICE ACTING AND MUSIC TOO??? Top tier. I got hooked SO FAST lol. Above all that though, I love the overall themes it's grounded in. Hear me out. In helluva boss, all the main characters are hellborn, meaning they're native to hell. They didn't have a choice to be born as demons, or what kind of power they have or don't or what type they are. And honestly none of the demons there did. They have families and jobs and hospitals and are basically just trying to get by with the hand they've been dealt. We've all felt that way.
They're already born in an established social class based on the species of demon they are and the level of power they wield, and a MASSIVE theme is how where you come from doesn't define you. How you can ALWAYS move up and take control of your life and prove all the shitheads that want to keep you down WRONG. That having a bad past/childhood/etc doesn't mean life can't get better. That your past and upbringing doesn't define your entire existence. I love that shit. Also, there's a massive, and I mean MASSIVE, emphasis of overcoming and/or living with trauma. From taking steps to recover from trauma, to navigating adult life after trauma, to living along side the memories, to telling abusers to FUCK OFF and MORE. My PTSD riddled ass can't get enough of seeing these characters, who have suffered various/different types of abuse, stand up for themselves and learn to love themselves while navigating life after trauma. It's cathartic as fuck and I feel seen.
Would I recommend it? That depends! It's VERY ADULT in basically every way imaginable, and I mean that. I know this show and the dark humor side of things isn't for everyone, so it depends on the person asking! And that's ok! We all enjoy different things. At the same time however, different things can mean different things to different people. If you find that you like it? Cool! If you don't like it, also cool! I love it for what it is and what the characters and their journey mean to me, so I can only speak for myself!

oooo yea of course. i love musicals!! english musicals, broadway musicals, off-broadway musicals, french musicals too... so sweet. i'm a fake theatre kid (barely did any theatre extracurricular classes) and it shows with musicals, i think. when it was big i was a hamilton fan, im a beetlejuice fan (i discovered the beetlejuice musical through alex brightman's song in helluva boss episode uhhh 3? cuz i love his voice (it's a klark barbel voice) hehe), i love EPIC the musical, jekyll and hyde, death note (albeit ive not listened to it fully), frankenstein, nerdy prudes must die, some others i forgor and regarding french ones i listened only to bits of mozart l'opéra rock (obviously. it's the biggest french musical), la légende du roi arthur, le soldat rose, le rouge et le noir and maybe some others. so yknow!! i love listening to theaterish/musical songs. but unfortunately my pick-n-choose habit gets in the way and i rarely end up actually sitting and watching the musical in full. (ALSO GREASE I LOVE THE FILM GREASE). feel free to send recs! id be more apt to listen to song recommandations rather than whole-musical recommandations tho :p
you love weird stuff so true... like backxwash... she does slay so much ill admit. and, going offtopic (of rap) but one could argue will wood is kinda weird stuff too... and he sounds theatery too!! coincidence? i thimk not... anyways back on topic yea im not particularly a fan of the genre of rap be it usamerican or french, but i listen to it in both languages. i'm a fan of Childish Gambino (my celeb crush. twirls hair.) and, well, Gims but i'm very picky regarding the genre. though i guess i listen to more french rap than usamerican rap cuz my friends (mainly greg) only listens to french rap so he tells me what's good and i listen by osmosis. regarding kinds of raps, um, well, i'm so not aware of what music genres/kinds are so i couldn't tell you lmao. but i mainly listen to lighthearted, funny rap or emotional/love rap (though i enjoy more dissy tracks like eminem's)... the most important thing in music to me is the voice and what the singer do wit it or how the instrumental complement it and stuff...
HALF·ALIVE IS SO GOOD NO CAP ON GOD BROTHER which songs of them have you listened to... and um regarding "witch" music well. like i said i'm not at all a genre expert or even know what is which genre so i'm going off vibes yknow. but some i'd classify as "witchy" the Willow Maid, Cosmo Sheldrake songs, or Pomme songs... like nature-y, like cabin in the woods... cosy with pagan / magic / otherwordly themes or scenery... no or little drumsets, electronic sounds or synth, with real ass instruments sounds including funky ones (like the accordion) and with maybe "simple" or few-layers harmonies... you catch my drift?
good evening! whatcha mean my album lineup is fascinating... id love to tell you more about it but idk why it really is that interesting .... or? surprising? i guess >_>
yeah it is i think! at least to me
tbh mostly its just different from what i have been listening to but the minecraft + pikmin rlly stood out to me at least visually. i dont listen to a lotta video game osts or fansongs/parodies (i recognized fallen kingdom maybe?) anymore so its kinda nostalgic to see yk? i have such strong memories of listening to the katamari damacy ost and drawing like. homestuck fanart. it reminds me of that eheh
and its neato! like im thinkin what got u on those lately. and hazbin. aha
+ the others i didnt recognize at all so i just want to know more about em in general :3

Helluva Boss mid season predictions
Vivzie has confirmed that there are only 4 more episodes left in season 1 of Helluva Boss so since I made a post theorizing what would happen during season 1, I’d do an update going over what I think the last 4 episodes could be about.
Episode 5 will still be a Blitzo X Stolas episode where Blitzo and the others “hang out” with Stolas and other upper class demons during Stolas’s festival in the ring of wrath.
The main plot of the episode will have Stolas trying to spend time with Blitzo (much to Blitzo’s annoyance) at the festival but Stella will try and prevent him from doing so out of fear of the two embarrassing the family in front of everyone. I see Stella having a big role in the episode and I hope we get to learn a lot about her character and her relationship with her family, especially her relationship with Stolas. I stated this in an older post but it would be funny if Stella also tried to get some payback at Blitzo somehow during the episode.
The side plot of the episode will likely be about Moxxie and Mille (who could be forced to be caterers there) being treated poorly by the party guest, given how imps are the lowest class in demon society. Maybe near the end of the episode someone will accidently cause a fight to break out between the demon higher ups and it ruins the festival. For some reason I can see the episode ending with Stella, realizing she and Blitzo have more in common when it comes to thoughts about Stolas or that there are bigger problems to worry about then Stolas and Blitzo getting caught, reluctantly saying that Stolas can still see Blitzo as long as they try to not to get caught but it’s shown that Stella is very mad and even sad about this.
I can also see the episode being a good opportunity to let us see other demon characters act onscreen like Lucifer, Lilith, and the Von Eldritchs and those that we haven’t seen yet like Mammon.
There is not much to go on to say what could happen in episode 6 but I feel like it could be about Blitzo and Moxxie getting into trouble on Earth and having to work together to get out of a situation, becoming closer friends in the process. This is supported by the scene of the two being tied up and that scene of them in an alley with what seems to be a portal open in the background. Maybe it could a Millie episode where she needs to save the two after they are captured by someone ?
One idea I have for the episode is that it will have them dealing with the Cherubs as besides how all the other antagonist this season have been confirmed to be appearing a 2nd time later this season (like Verosika and Robo Fizz), it would be bad to leave off there story as it is. We could get a sample of what the Cherubs might do for the rest of the series, which I think is them trying to stop I.M.P from killing people in hopes it will get them back into Heaven only for them to get more corrupted as time goes on, at least for Cletus and Keenie as Collin is too pure.
Another possible idea is that the imps will run into a demon hunter on Earth. A lot of people have said they have been carless on Earth so maybe they get into a situation that results in them learning to be more careful when it comes to doing there job.
The last two episodes will be a roller coaster of emotion.
Episode 7 will be another Blitzo X Stolas centered episode and it will take place in the ring of lust. Like I said in my season 1 trailer analysis post I still think it will be about how thanks to Stolas getting Moxxie a gig at Ozzies, Blitzo has to take Stolas on a proper date there. Sadly Blitzo will find out that they will be seeing Verosika Mayday perform there and she will cause trouble for the imps, especially for Blitzo. I also see Stolas finding out that Blitzo and Verosika use to date, which makes him a bit jealous as maybe he thinks there is still something between Blitzo and Verosika.
While there they will also have to deal with Robo Fizz as he was suppose to open for Verosika but got replaced by Moxxie and wants payback on Moxxie and Blitzo as a bonus. Eventually the characters will cause so much trouble that Asmodeus, the demon lord of lust, will appear and maybe tries to punish everyone but fails. I also like the idea of how Asmodeus appears but instead of punishing everyone he states he likes Moxxie’s singing and that he wants to give him a record deal.
However I believe the biggest moment of the episode will involve Blitzo doing something that breaks Stolas’s heart, whether it be yelling at him for causing all of this and stating they will never date or Stolas sees Blitzo do something romantic/sexual with Verosika where maybe it shows she still has some feelings for Blitzo.
The events of episode 7 will likely be followed up in the season finale, which will be a Blitzo heavy episode.
I.M.P go to an old western themed area to lay low/vacation after the events of the last episode and while things seem to start off good, as Blitzo will love the farm life and even bond with Loona things will get dark near the end. I think while getting into a fight with Robo Fizz (who tracked them down) Robo Fizz will mock Blitzo of his life and brings up if anyone cares for him which hurts Blitzo’s feelings. After something happens Blitzo finally “kills” Robo Fizz but ironically instead of what Robo Fizz said to him bumming him out more, he becomes confident/get clarity and goes to meet a sad Stolas where Blitzo admits that he does like him a bit and in his own way states he would like to be in a “trial run” relationship with Stolas, which cheers up the sad owl demon.
I can see another Moxxie X Millie side plot happening here but I mostly see there being a moment where while on the farm Moxxie gets really hurt but is luckily going to be ok which makes everyone happy, especially Millie and I can see this being another reason why Blitzo goes to see Stolas as he wants a relationship like Moxxie and Mille. I can see there being a scene at the end of the episode where Millie and a recovering Moxxie talk about the idea of having a kid, and there is a funny moment where unknown to them Blitzo AND Stolas peek at the imp couple through binoculars, Stolas stating this is a nice date XD
What do you think will happen in the last few episodes ? What would you love to see happen before the season ends ? What do you NOT want to see in the season ?
