one thing that is so genius on a craft level with the broken earth books is that the derogatory for 'orogene' is - That Way - on 100% purpose. you're supposed to feel like it's not a word to say out loud, it's supposed to be uncomfortably similar to words you've already heard and know as cruel slurs in the real world. it's a direct fucking parallel designed to deliberately give the reader that crawling feeling and it works so well i dont even feel right typing it up for a post

Josh and Sam’s Chemistry

I’m of the opinion that, even though they have less screen time together than UD’s established couples and aren’t explicitly romantic, Josh and Sam have better chemistry than most of the other Until Dawn couples. And I’m not playing here. I felt this in my bones, and I am now PREPARED to defend it with paragraphs upon paragraphs analyzing this game’s character writing.

Someone on Reddit tried to make fun of me for this opinion by saying Josh/Sam barely have any interaction. But what was not considered here is that I’m a petty bitch and am COUNTING THE LINES IN THE TRANSCRIPT NOW. Anyway, I’m more than half through the game, and currently Sam and Josh are both in each other’s TOP TWO for dialogue shared. Chris is there fighting for both their attention like mad though 😂. It’s very close so far. Like cooooome on, I’m not arguing that we have any canonical proof Josh and Sam are romantic. We don’t. But to say they don’t have very memorable interaction with each other….? Stuff and NONSENSE.

When you don’t like a book that much, but not enough to abandon, or skim through it, because it’s still mildly interesting; so you binge-read chapter after chapter so you can finish it as quickly as possible without sacrificing your comprehension. But as you’re doing this, the plot thickens, and you actually start enjoying yourself.

I get why people get icked by the scene where angel sees buffy when she gets called into slaying like it is a bit icky to me too with the romanticization but you have to step back and see what she represents. obviously angel knows about slayers and their isolation and he sees this normal girl who is talking to her friends and going to high school getting approached about her slayer duties. she’s confused and obviously airheaded. she definitely needs guidance with this new turn in her life. and then he finds her later getting in trouble and causing tension between her mother and father for something she was forced into. he feels sympathy for her and wants to help her. his existence hasn’t had meaning and now it’s flipping the script of the dynamic between a slayer and a vampire where the vampire is looking over and aiding the slayer. and I mean I shouldn’t even have to say it but literally his name. he’s initially this guardian angel figure who looks out for her and helps her some (when she arrives in sunnydale)
