Happy Birthday Tim Drake!!

Today is July 19th aka Tim Drake’s official birthday (or one of them at least😂)

To celebrate I decided to show one of my favorite Tim moments: When he was so stressed and sleep deprived he completely forgot about his 16th birthday

I think most of the batfam (except Jason and maybe steph) judge Duke on the snacks he makes

Tim: Duke what are you eating?

Duke: *holds up a pack of crushed dry Ramen with seasoning*

Tim: *a look of pure horror*

Alfred: and what type of sandwich would you like master Duke?

Duke: syurp sandwich please

Alfred: just syrup??

Duke: and peanut butter

Alfred: alright then??☺️

*Jason who was sitting at the counter*: I want one also Alfie, I haven't had a syrup sandwich in years😩

bruce: *checking in on Duke to make sure he's alright and see if he's asleep*

Duke: *sitting in the complete dark with only a computer light, under 2 blanket, with a shark themed bonnet eating a can of barbecue Vienna sausages* "😶"

Bruce: ... *closes the door slowly*

The first time Tim and Stephanie shared their first (real) kiss and it was just as chaotic as the rest of their relationship

for some reason this question has been killing me this week and then suddenly i realized i should just run to your blog and ask you!! how old were tim and steph when they first met? my brain is giving me fourteen and fifteen but i'm now realizing i could have made that up instead of basing it in comics. (feel free to reply privately or publicly, dealer's choice)

Ah yes, the familiar character ages struggle😂

When it comes to comic characters (DC and Marvel especially) characters ages are rarely ever mentioned and when they are it’s generally extremely inconsistent

That being said, I don’t think Stephanie is even relevant enough for DC to have ever even mentioned her age definitely not that early in her appearances at least :(

However, I think it’s a fairly safe assumption to say her and Tim are the same age and his age is a bit easier to find or at least make an educated guess, and actually you pretty much got it!

Tim and Stephanie meet in Detective comics issue #648 which came out in July of 1992

In Robin (1993) Issue #9 which came out some time late 1993, we see Tim shopping for a car with his dad which implies that he can legally drive as a civilian which means he has to be at least 15 1/2 as that is the requirement in America for a driving permit. This is further supported when in Robin (1993) issue #116 we get to see Tim celebrating his 16th birthday (Which quick sidebar also tells us his birthday is July 19th!)

With that in mind we can reasonably place Tim at around 14 years old at the time he and Stephanie meet since the comics have a good bit of distance between them. And if we assume him and Stephanie are around the same age that would place her in that range as well

So yeah, saying they were 14/15 is a fairly good timeline even if you accidentally made it up😂! Hope this helped!🖤

So many people have reblogged/replied to this with truly wonderful add ons so I’ve decided to just make one giant reblog of all my favorite additions

so I’ve seen lots of fics about Bruce coming back and finding out things like Tim loosing his spleen or Damian getting shot (on multiple occasions by different people) and he almost always finds out by either having dug into the Batcomputers records and stumbling across it or just seeing it on scans or something after Tim or Damian is injured

but imagine for a moment Bruce finds out, not on his own, but by the others telling him.

And by “tell him” I of course mean that they all automatically assume that he already knows about all of it(because he’s the worlds greatest detective so obviously they don’t need to say anything) so they never bring it up until they mention it one day in passing and nearly give him a heart attack.

for example:

Bruce: Tim, I need you to come with me to speak with Dr. Thompkins down at the clinic about that new drug that’s been circulating

Tim: Oh, sure thing, just let me grab my mask

[Bruce not saying anything but looking at him confused because Tim is already fully suited up and wearing his domino mask?]:

[Tim, now wearing a surgical face mask]: Ok, I’m ready! [Bruce just staring at him, waiting for some explanation. He doesn’t get one.]:

Bruce: Tim

Tim: hm?

Bruce: Why are you wearing a face mask..?

Tim: Oh! Well Dr. Thompkins got mad at me last time I came to the clinic without one because there’s a lot of sick people there and I should be more careful since I’m immunocompromised-

[Bruce, immediately cutting him off]: Wait, what?

[Tim, slightly confused]: She got mad at me when I didn’t wear one last time..?

[Bruce, equally confused and growing very concerned]: No, not that. You’re immunocompromised?

[Tim, now completely lost because this is all common knowledge?]: Uh, yeah??

[Bruce, even more concerned]: How??? What do you mean??

[Tim, getting annoyed and rolling his eyes]: Well that’s what they call you when you have no spleen, Bruce.

Bruce: What.

[Tim finally realizing that, just maybe, they skipped a step]: I have no spleen? It got stabbed so Ra’s took it

[Bruce, about to have an aneurysm]: RA’S DID WHAT-

______ Or like him finding out Damian had his entire spine replaced

Bruce: Hey, do you think it’s strange Damian’s so small?

Dick: No?? He’s ten?? Ten year olds are small?

[Bruce, audibly concerned]: No, I mean don’t you think he should have grown some by now? Is he not eating enough?

[Dick, immediately relaxing]: Oh, that? Yeah, it’s fine

[Bruce, still concerned]: Are you sure? I was taller than that at his age

[Dick, waving his hand dismissively]: Nah, he’s fine. I think the spine replacement just stunted his growth a bit

Bruce:…

Dick:..?

[Bruce, near hysterically because all his kids somehow keep losing pieces of their insides and none of them seem bothered by it??]: his wHAT- ____

Dick has to spend the next several hours trying to stop Bruce from making everyone do a mandatory medical examination so he can make sure none of his other kids are missing anything

Dick promises that it was just the two things

Bruce is not reassured

There is a rickety little wooden chair in the corner of the batcave that is used for time out but no one ever calls it that. Robins just go there to cool off and think. To this day not one Robin thinks it’s a timeout chair.

This was apparently a thing the whole time it’s just less common. I didn't know they had another shipname but it's so cute I love it. Why isn’t everyone using it?

Again, don’t necessarily have anything against “DickKori”, I just think it could be more fun. I like “Nightlight” because “Night” is the first part of Dick’s hero name and him and Kori are both just in general very bright people. (Kori can also physically light up so there’s that)

This ship name was shared with me by @ladythugs !! The name is a play on the term “Picture Perfect” and I thought it was very cute

I will not be convinced this is not funny idc what anyone says. (Sidebar: Why the fandom went with "JayRose" when “RedRose” was an option for smashing their names together I will never know.)

(THIS IS IN REFERENCE TO THE DCAU ONLY) I have a friend who calls them this strictly because she started shipping "DamiRae" right after she first saw the scene where Raven shares some of her cotton candy with Damian in Justice League vs Teen Titans. It's very simple and makes zero sense without context but I thought it was pretty cute

Alternative Bat ship names

Some of the batship names leave much to be desired (as I somewhat mentioned here )I wanted to propose some new ones or bring awareness to ones I think should be more popular! My credentials are that I was a part of the RWBY fandom back in 2015 so

Pairing: Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon

Original: DickBabs

Alternative: Nightwatch

"DickBabs" is not that bad tbh but also not at all creative. “Nightwatch” Was something I first saw on Spotify as a ship playlist name and thought it fit perfectly. "Night" is the first part of Dick’s hero name and watching the BatFam during patrol is kinda Barbara’s whole job description so it combines them both beautifully

Pairing: Bruce Wayne and Selena Kyle

Original: BatCat

Alternative: Thieves Crusade

“BatCat” just feels too much like “CatDog” and I don’t want to associate them with that. Now the easy choice is to go "Black Cat" As it still fits them but that's not that much better creativity wise. "Thieves Crusade" Is fairly self explanatory with Selena being the thief and Bruce being the caped Crusader but is also Selena’s goal in a way

Pairing: Tim Drake and Stephanie Brown

Original: TimSteph

Alternative: Ultra Violet

Again, “TimSteph” isn’t the worse but it’s just so bland. "Ultra Violet" Is the name of an energy drink which while mostly fanon based does remind me of Tim and Violet is a shade of purple which is Stephs favorite color

Pairing: Damian Wayne and Nika

Original: DamiNika

Alternative: Knightshade

I just don't like the way "DamiNika" sounds. "Knightshade" would be said the same as "Nightshade" which is a poisonous plant. Damian is the heir to the mantle of the Dark Knight(something he use to point out often) and Nika's whole powers surround death so I feel like it can apply to them both

Pairing: Conner "Kon" Kent and Cassandra Cain

Original: KonCass

Alternative: Star-Crossed

"KonCass" could be worse but it also could be better, it also is a bit too close to "KonCassie" for me which is a whole other ship. "Star-Crossed" Is a bit more of a stretch but my reasoning is that DC had set their relationship to fail from the beginning so the phrase itself fits and also one of the only "dates" we really see of them in canon is when Kon takes her into the sky to see the stars and the clouds(Kon is also half ailen which can kinda apply here)

If anyone knows some other good ones please share! I'm not even saying these are particularly great, In fact I’m aware they’re not, but I just miss the fun shipnames so bad:(

I never really got an answer for this so I just decided to go out and ask some of the fanartists I've seen people using on Spotify directly

Responses were mixed and while none of the 20+ fanartists that I asked said no, the general rule seemed to be that yes it's ok so long as proper credit is given.

Obviously I can't speak for everyone but of those I asked it seemed that any of them that were ok with their art being used as pfp/icons didn't mind.

Honestly tho if you're not 100% sure/worried about it I would just ask the artist directly because they'll probably say yes and it's better to be safe than sorry <3

Legitimate Question for fanartists:

How do you feel about people using your art as Spotify playlist covers?

I was looking at some character playlists (mostly DC and LOZ characters) and I noticed a lot of the playlists used fanart for the playlist covers.

I have to assume that not all of them just made it because a few of them used the same art and I never saw any credit or link to where it came from so I was curious to what the actual etiquette for that is

Cass whose been spending way too much time with Meme Queen Stephanie Brown and not involved in the argument but finding it entertaining regardless: [nodding along seriously] Facts

Tim: [visibly betrayed] CASS WHAT-

A video copy of the interaction gets sent out anonymously to the entire family. Barbara is the prime suspect but there is no proof as of yet (and they will never find any)

Steph, Cass, and Duke continue to respond “Motherless behavior” everytime one of the bats does something they deem questionable/insane. It is said often

It only stops when one night in the middle of patrol. Batman is in full Dark Knight mode (possibly in the middle of threatening someone) and descends from the ceiling into the middle of a warehouse drug deal, dark cape billowing out behind him-

and Steph just automatically whispers “Motherless behavior” forgetting her com was still very much on

She immediately realizes what she said and frantically apologizes but it’s too late.

Bruce just- Blue Screens. Completely stunned into silence

Dick -who was unfortunate enough to be the one teamed up with Batman tonight- is fighting for his life to choke back his laughter

Jason doesn’t even try to stop his and has collapsed to his knees from lack of air from how hard he’s laughing. Cass try’s half heartedly patting his back to help to no avail

The criminals are terrified into surrender from The Red Hood just laughing hysterically at seemingly nothing while Batman just Stands There

Damian ends up being the only one still functioning enough to continue arresting everyone, though he is privately amused and strangely proud

Tim and Barbara have saved both the com recordings and cowl footage to at least three different servers and sent it to absolutely everyone before Batman even recovers

Duke finds out second hand the next morning and is furious he missed the chance to see it in person. He declares he is moving to the nightshift so it doesn’t happen again. (He is all talk and goes to bed by 9 pm)

Bruce bans the phrase for life and promises swift and server punishment to anyone who dares to use it again

Dick's canonically supposed to be one of the like 5 people in the world total who can perform a quadruple flip. I put forward that this is the one and only thing Cass has never been able to match him on. She is very bitter, he is very smug and neither of them are especially mature about it.
