(thank you for answering oc questions!!) have you mentioned before why finch took an oath of vengeance?

(of course, i really appreciate getting them!)

mostly it stemmed from having to bear witness to a lot of injustice in his formative years and not having the means to do anything about it. once he got the means (training and tempus's blessing and growing up to be a brick wall) he took it upon himself to even the playing field, to be a deterrent against ~evil~ either by his actions or by his presence alone. to pull good people up and knock bad people down. as hard as possible. preferably so they wouldn't get back up again.

he doesn't enjoy exacting revenge, but he does find a kind of peace in the aftermath. that brief moment of cleaning the blood off his sword when the world feels slightly better because someone awful is gone from it.

rare are the people he swears personal oaths against but that's probably for the best. for everyone.

have just realised while researching for fic (fuck my life) that rugan and his crew are carrying the chest for nine-fingers. it's her that wrote the shipment orders:

and crossing her is such a big deal that zarys kills olly and tortures rugan if he doesn't turn up with the chest, and says something like "we're all dead, but i'm going to make sure you first" if you open it before going to the hideout.

no wonder roah moonglow tries for a coup. nine-fingers has the Gate locked down. if the zhents can topple her there's lots of room for expansion. and profit.

Had a fucking heart attack not realising that giving the beholder flask in to Zarys would make all the Zhentarim hostile I thought I had just perma killed my entire playthrough but then Brem threw an alchemist's fire at himself and blew up the entire ground floor singlehandedly we good we good :)

had an idea to make sol’rys a personal quest

i’m thinking that he either is a member of the guild or zhentarim or is frequently contracted as a sword for hire / hunter.

he ends up not being able to fulfill his contract since he was snapped up by the nautiloid. showing his face in baldur’s gate with a contract unfulfilled might not be the wisest idea, and having him in a party might generate mixed to hostile responses from the employer in question.

you can probably help him fulfill his contract, refuse to help him, or encourage him to break it (?). only swallows his pride and actively asks you for help if you’re on good terms. otherwise you end up finding out the hard way, that he’s being hounded for disappearing for months, not fulfilling his contract, and showing up in baldur’s gate like it’s fine.

I’ve reached the point of BG3 where I’m constantly annoyed because I can’t figure out how to do anything
