Shows that were canned too early that deserved better (imo)

We all hate it when we get wayy too invested into a show with good characters, an interesting plot, and a solid setup right? Well it seems that the networks for these shows didn’t really see it that way sadly, some of these shows are known, others aren’t, but this is just gonna be me rambling about how we didn’t get more of these said shows 😭

The Owl House

Now this one I wont dig deep into too long? We did get a solid ending in the end, but we were definitely robbed of a full season 3

The fact that this was Disneys next big thing, (like Gravity Falls) and still got axed kinda baffles me a bit because executives love big ratings

I heard they cancelled it because of it ‘not fitting the disney brand’ (mostly because there were two main gay characters in it) which I thought was super unfair, because they really were that homophobic 💀

All in all, I enjoyed this show and wanted a full season 3

Close Enough

From Regular Show creator J.G Quintel, this show was definitely more for an older audience, and let me say they did amazing at it.

The shows humor didn’t revolve around cussing or sex jokes, (which is what I see all the time now in modern adult animation) and the show was definitely funny!

Unfortunately though, Max cancelled it after 3 seasons due to the merge of Discovery + and HBO Max, with Max canning alot of shows during that time, this being one of them

We kinda sorta got left on a cliffhanger of sorts?? At least imo. Liked the show and wish we had more

For a show made by Craig McCracken (Powerpuff Girls, Fosters Home) you’d think it would be popular and have a bunch of seasons right?

Well no, with this show only having two seasons after Disney cancelled it because ‘80 episodes were enough for this show’ which is kinda dumb?? I dunno I just don’t like executives and rules and stuff

I CANNOT stress enough about how this show deserved so much more than what it got, I actually would’ve put it at number one, but the next one is kinda justifiable so ._.

From Todd Kauffman and Mark Thornton (Total Drama Island) this show featured a kid and his friends that were in a band, and used lead singers sisters diary as lyric ideas, bc they suck at writing them

And I loved it

I swear I don’t think I’ve ever been heavily interested in and emotionally attached to the characters in a show before, it was so good

The songs in this show were also heavenly, I suggest you give them a listen, theyre really good!

Also another reason I really liked the show was because it was a Canadian toon that didn’t revolve around gross out humor (I applaud them for that)

Unfortunately this was a show Cartoon Network screwed over BIG time, with when it came out during the summer it was airing, kids were mostly outside playing, never really gaining an audience, and then after the first half of the season aired, it was on a 2 YEAR hiatus. With fans questioning if the show would ever come back

Fortunately it did! Except Cartoon Network shoved it on their app, and a year later shoved it onto their sister channel, Boomerang. Then, after the show FINALLY ended their first season, the show was immediately cancelled, with Cartoon Network never really giving it a chance

The whole way Cartoon Network handled this show frustrated me immensely, with it having a decent fanbase, and people wanted more (me being one of them:()

The creators even had alot of plans for next said season, but I guess we will never get to see them (unless a Clone High situation happens but that’s doubtful)

Show was very underrated and deserved SO much more, Cartoon Network fumbled this one and the last show Im about to mention

Sym Bionic Titan

This sci fi animated series by Genndy Tartakovsky (Samurai Jack, Dexters Lab) only lasted one season with 20 episodes

With Cartoon Network cancelling it because of the failure to produce a TOY LINE

The fact this show got axed because of toys just makes me so upset

This was one of those shows that also left on a cliffhanger sadly, so we never really got to see how this show properly ended

With Genndy even saying that he wrote 10 more episodes, but now we will never get to see them

ALSO THE SHOWS SOUNDTRACK WAS SO GOOD?! Love when shows put banger songs in the bg, reminded me so much of Clone High

omg so true actually youre right i take back what i said about mu qing not wanting him to feel bad he kinda would get off on it. the admirationnnnnn ahhhh yeah like mq does indeed admire him but he also has a thing for xl failing he likes when xl gets brought back down to earth with the rest of the imperfect flawed people. contrast hc who is simply ride or die no matter what. talking xl into cheating and proving that no relationship is perfect and safe would be such a win for mq AND he also gets to know hc is going through intense psychological torture its a win all round. plus i really do think mulian is the strongest most interesting relationship xl has because yeah hc was there and never left but he also had literally nothing to lose vs mq and fx who yes eventually left but did have a lot to lose and DID lose a lot!! and theyre still friends again after all this time!! and mq's world doesnt hinge on xl the way hc's does which is such an interesting difference because yes hc is always supportive and mq definitely is not lol BUT 1. that is a lot of pressure being someone's flawless idol and 2. idk how to say this in the right way but it kind of means more imo if someone doesnt necessarily need you but they still want you like xl is NOT mq's whole reason for carrying on in this world but he still admires and xl and wants to be his friend thats just more impactful because its a choice rather than an obligation. not that hc would consider his devotion an obligation but he would never make any other choice so personally it means less to me!! anyway i love the concept of mq in the situationship going hmm i need something for my complicated emotions and i think that something is further complications and validation through xl being imperfect that always does the trick

04. what are your favorite episodes/scene?

I've answered this one already here, but why not list another ep i like? I still go back to S1 Ep 68 pretty often!! It's one of the last episodes we're given where Garroth is written well imo, but he REALLY shines in this episode. I really love how Laurance and Garroth's dynamic is handled, + we get our first hints of Shadowknight-hood affecting Laurance more, AND we even get quite a bit of Garte stuff/overall politics things that I find very interesting!

This is honestly the golden era of S1 to me, and some of my favorite bits of how they handled storytelling like, mechanically. (Having the NPCs unpromptedly just start going off at eachother was very cool. Very rarely did NPCs have conversations with eachother that weren't facilitated by Aphmau before that point.) ITS A GOOD EPISODE! The back half is a little boring, it was definitely like that because Jess spent all her energy making the front half cool, but the front half WAS very cool, so I can excuse it.

THIS IS AN EVIL EVIL QUESTION BECAUSE THERE ARE SOOOOO MANY. lets just get Vylad and Literally Everyone down just to start. this is a joke but also not.

Vylad and Emmalyn (their intense irene discussions. Vylad obviously has some sort of academic knowledge of irene judging by the fact that he knows about Irene's Dimension on his own, and brings it up as a thing Zane would do BEFORE Aphmau can explain it. I think it would be cool for Emmalyn to have scholalry discussions around Irene with someone who also has that knowledge)

Vylad and Dante (Oopse Gene Sucks Hope We Dont Bond Over This. It makes sense in canon why Aphmau discouraged their meeting because she didn't want Dante to freak out about more shadowknights and she doesn't know about the dynamic between Vylad and Gene very well, but also I think hearing that validation would be very good for both of them considering Gene is literally gaslight king #1. There aren't a lot of people who can relate to being hurt by him directly who are also able to tell the tale.)

Vylad and Katelyn (HER SEEING JEFFORY IN HIM IS SOOOO INTERESTING AND THEN THE ONLY THING IT EVER EVEN KIND OF GOT USED FOR WAS SHIPPING BAIT WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. theyre some of the two most Emotionally Congested characters there are itd be sooooo interesting to me if they like. they dont even have to talk about it. its fine. they can just hang out silently together. ok. they can vibe together. i think they would enjoy that. please.)

and for some non-vylad options so that I'm not just talking about him for the rest of this post: Dante and Zoey NEEED to have a bigger dynamic with eachother considering they were the big Stayed Behind For 15 Years guys and barely anything ever comes from it im so mad

Zianna and Aphmau is a dynamic that can really only be explored in a post-S2 timeframe. but i think would be very cute :) I can see Zianna being very motherly towards Aphmau (or mother-in-law if thats the kind of thing ur a fan of) when she finds out that Aphmau doesn't have/remember having a figure like that in her life already. + I think Zianna would respect Aphmau a lot as being both a responsible lord and a mother herself. I think the two of them would get along very well :)

Similar to above in regards to timeframe, I think Travis and Garroth would be a fun dynamic to explore. Garroth strikes me very much as a "I Can't Hate Them, They're Family" kind of guy just cuz thats what he was taught growing up, despite having an undeniably negative relationship with people like Zane and Garte. Travis being so openly a #dadhater would help Garroth work out some of his own issues regarding how he feels towards members of his own family. And from Travis' pov, Garroth gets built up a lot over the course of S2, and hearing all these tales and stories only to meet him in person and discover he's kind of just a nervous wet cat of a guy is very funny.

after this latest ultimate extended rewatch with @lecampy i can finally say for sure: i like the hobbit movies more than the OT ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

All 6 are more consistent in quality than I remembered so there's less for me to get hung up on that i wasn't already accepting from the first movies -- there's infrequently wonky cgi, weird act 3 pacing, and stupid action sequences in the OT but they didn't get in the way of my enjoyment then, that's still the case for me here

i already like tolkien dwarves so all the focus on them was awesome, i like that they blended in some other tolkien works, i like that there were references to the cartoons and various illustrated editions

it must be said -- the soundtrack fucks! howard shore adds some new great dwarvish themes to the leitmotifs we're already familiar with and it works so well -- in particular its underscoring of thorin's descent is really really good

the biggest thing for me though is the characters. I am incredibly fond of all the dwarves, and bc the movies put effort into differentiating them I was able to quickly learn names. i always come away from a rewatching getting attached to a new character (this time its balin ;__;)

riddles in the dark! the barrel escape! goofy and heartfelt songs! outwitting trolls and bluffing dragons! i think all the best stuff from the novel is a lot of fun in large part bc freeman is the perfect bilbo, he handles this ridiculous, increasingly depressing procession of events with a combination of twitchy insecurity and desperate nerve and its exactly as i imagined

dont even get me started on armitage as thorin jesus christ holy fcuk. I'm still recovering and it's been a decade. his last scene had me in hysterics

in general bilbo is a more interesting and compelling protagonist, (all his little tics are so endearing!! there's like 50 Relatable Bilbo Moments per movie) and thorin's tragic character arc beats the shit out of anything from the OT. i wish i had 10 more hours of them interacting. i wish they had more time together

love the stuff with bard the bowman, he is a much more interesting figure than i initially gave him credit for, especially after laketown is destroyed and he's trying to care for all the refugees who immediately looked to him for guidance because he's the one that killed the dragon. he feels the weight of responsibility for their survival on his shoulders, his dragonslaying wasn't so much a feat as it is a prelude to the real work that is the result of prowess -- those who can, MUST. and that pressure drives his plea for thorin to just honor their prior agreement, and the feeling of betrayal when that plea is callously refused. its just like thorin taking responsibility for his people after erebor was lost (and the deliciousness of thorin treating bard like thranduil treated him, and the way the trauma of being abandoned to starvation and exile ripples out over years)

the critique i agree most with is the execution of the kili/tauriel romantic subplot, it could have been better developed imo, theyre really intense about each other after like one conversation LKJFdsjf

pacing is definitely wonky at times

specifically the pacing of the gandalf subplot was not as good as the main plot, but i think it was better handled in the extended editions

i dont think smaug was killed too quickly, or the confrontation was weirdly positioned astride the 2nd and 3rd movies bc the dragon isn't the most interesting antagonist of this story and there are more important things to explore, like thorin's descent into paranoia, his awful choices as a leader once he steps inside erebor and how theyre connected to his past experiences, and the way infighting leaves all parties vulnerable to destruction. but i'm someone who was bummed they cut scourging of the shire from the OT so i would enjoy stuff like this, those arcs that show the fallout after the Big Final Battle, (or what seemed like it at the time), where you have to reconcile real world shit like diplomacy w/ neighboring polities.

i still love the OT, its a classic for a reason, but the hobbit movies are underrated and i'll die on this (under)hill.

i mean, like she says, is that not what people just did to each other in the aftermath of battles for thousands of years? and i really like how its pointed out that it was what she was raised with (in the beginning when you see her put shackles on that guy after the battle) but she also accepts responsibility for it and acknowledges that it was wrong and not just 'what people did'.

i like how from her expressions you can kind of tell baby andy knew it was off but she sets those feelings aside bc she felt angry. it explains how she felt but didnt make her out to be blameless in it. plus i mean. i dont know, the fact that andy was involved in a lot of morally shady stuff for 7000 years is not that wild for me. if you live that long youre just Going to be involved in some shit, and she didnt even have other immortals with her as positive community influences, she literally just did whatever the fuck she wanted for thousands of years

i dont know, i get why people didnt like the ending but its. .. . it makes more sense in the comicverse. bc the squad doesnt really. .. interact outside of jobs? i mean, think of the moon landing story in ttt. that was booker and joe and nicky doing a job and andy only showed up a for a couple minutes after it was done. or the brunch in the first issue of opening fire. the squad arent as tight in the comic, and andy often seems to do her own thing outside of work, so andy saying 'i dont want to do work anymore' and the squad being like 'alright bye then' makes more sense in this universe than the movie one

also i feel like greg was Trying to set up a thing where nile becomes the Leader of The Squad after andy dies but like. its not very well done since. . . i mean, nile hasnt spoken to booker since opening fire, (and she only knew him A Day). and shes known joe and nicky all that time, but there isnt really anything that indicates that they have any relationship at all, much less one that's grown. in all the comicverse the only time nile and nicky speak is in FM, and in that scene nicky tells nile about noriko. nile goes from someone who needs to be set aside to have background knowledge explained to her to being the Leader of the group with nothing in between. it kind of... comes out of nowhere.

on the other hand tho... i felt really bad for andy thru the whole thing. well, i always felt bad for andy, but in this one she seemed so miserable, especially since it really felt like none of the others actually.... cared about her. when noriko came back no one asked andy how she was doing (big question ik, but it wouldve showed they cared at least), nobody ever expressed any concern for her, no one even really seemed to want to be around her. in opening fire everyone was more distant than in the movie of course, but there were little moments where she would joke with joe, or nicky would try and comfort her, or stuff like that, but in FM it really felt like they just didnt really care about her. & in opening fire it felt a lot like andy's relationship with nile breathed some new life into her, but in FM it felt like all they did was argue. i get theyre not *as* close in the comics but it really felt like the only person who cared about andy at all was noriko (which was probably also how andy felt) but it just seemed to come out of nowhere. honestly i was reading and i was honestly agreeing with andy that she might just be better off if she did just die. opening fire, on the other hand, never make me feel that way

tho everyone made it sound like when the squad split up it was one of those cursed 'the found family leaves each other at the end of the journey' tropes. but guys i mean,,, this is the second installment out of three. that isnt the End. theyll come back in the third one and Dramatically Reunite to fight some baddies (probably those 'others' noriko mentioned). im guessing yitzhak fits into that too somehow.

anyways it wasnt That Bad but it made me kind of sad and the only Sweet Found Family vibes in it were when they saved booker. also they shouldve beefed up that nilemoose romance, it underwhelmed me. 6.5/10

i also ABSOLUTELY understand all of greg's comments about how you couldnt make FM directly into a movie, he always said that it had no plot and. i get it now. it really didnt have a plot sdfghjkl

Disclaimer I haven't sat down and actually read an OOTS book since they first came out Nearly Ten Years Ago and forgot basically everything that happened in AVOS as soon as it I finished reading it, so a lot of this is going off of very hazy memories and Vibes

What I love about them: *points* gifted kid. same girl. i still haven’t read dovewing’s silence just cause, idk, im not super into the novella’s, but that’s one that’s actually on my list of ‘maybe someday’ just because former-gifted-kid-hashtag-Struggling-to-move-on!dovewing is my absolute favorite of all potential versions of her. it’s an archetype i really like, a super kindhearted character who takes on the duties of a hero and then struggles with the psychological consequences of it, and it’s an archetype that’s usually restricted to male characters, and it’s also honestly not super common anymore for a number of reasons. so

What I hate about them: not even really about Her so much as how she’s written but i just hate hatE how much of her arc revolves around romantic drama... like i truly don’t care... it’s not even that i don’t care about romantic drama because i definitely do, and it’s not that i don’t care about romantic drama in warrior cats because while characters whose lives center around romantic drama in warrior cats often suck it can be done quite well at times imo (graystripe, crowfeather, bristlefrost). it’s just that the way it was written with dovewing in particular that really rubbed me the wrong fucking way. part of that though could be residual annoyance from 11-year-old-me that in OOTS the erins seemed to be fairly transparently trying to tap into the then-mega-popular YA love triangle trope complete with fairly paint-by-numbers competing love interests

Favorite Moment/Quote: uh like i said i don’t recall oots super clearly but i do still love that dovewing heard there was a fourth cat and even though her and ivypool had been sort of on and off feuding for months she still instantly went well Clearly it’s my sister. and was even willing to argue with jayfeather and lionblaze about it. very sweet

What I would like to see more focus on: PLEASE ERINS GIVE US ANY INFORMATION ABOUT HER RELATIONSHIPS WITH ANYONE IN SHADOWCLAN OTHER THAN TIGERSTAR AND HER CHILDREN it’s NOT HEALTHY for him and his mom and their children to be THE ONLY PEOPLE SHE’S FRIENDS WITH JUST GIVE ME LIKE ONE FRIENDLY LAUGH WITH CLOVERFOOT OR SOMETHING PLEASE it makes me so uneasy that she’s just /living there/ and appears to have no real connection to anyone except as THEIR SORT OF SYMBOLIC SURROGATE MOTHER AS THE FIRST LADY OF THEIR CLAN

What I would like to see less focus on: again. romantic drama. which is kind of over now, since tigerstar and her had kids and post-childbirth divorce doesn’t exist in warrior cats for anyone except crowfeather and nightcloud. but like, retrospectively - if i could rewrite her character - i would boot the romance drama.

Favorite pairing with: probably briarlight? again because of the romance drama and the way it’s handled so clumsily with her and all of that dovewing is kind of one of those characters i don’t ship so much. there are a lot of ships with her i can theoretically get behind but im not really actively interested in any of them

Favorite friendship: i don’t know if they’re even actually friends in any sense but i find her potentially extant relationship with jayfeather to be. fascinating. theyre such an odd couple and youd think hed be less intimidating to her than lionblaze but on some level also no he might actually be harder for her to connect with but she still manages to it’s just. interesting 2 me

NOTP: bumbledove. it probably could’ve been like theoretically recoverable until he propositioned her in the middle of a funeral lol

i hope this doesnt come off as weird but you're like one of the only people ive seen on this app who gets into ''discourse'' or who seems like. normal and has (imo) good Nuanced opinions about stuff, how do you do it?

it doesnt come off as weird! when i see someone on tumblr who handles discourse in a nuanced way im always like. heart eyes lol. also thank u for this message, i try very hard to write nuanced takes! u_u  im autistic and i definitely had to train myself to write posts that ppl would want to read. it mostly came from me being sick of ppl misconstruing what i wanted to say!

so with that in mind my number one ‘secret’ -- not that i think very hard about the shit i post to tumblr, but still -- is that after i read a post of mine, i try to imagine all the possible counterarguments somebody could pose, and then i go back and try to address them. obviously you can drive yourself up a wall if you go too hard with this, and not all counterarguments are worth addressing. u have to also think about your audience: if i were writing a post trying to convince a terf of a pro-trans argument, i would write it much differently than if i were writing the same post for a mostly-trans audience. etc etc. 

also if youre comparing my posts to those from other bloggers who write abt similar topics, the other thing is that not everyone who posts to tumblr.gov is trying to write nuanced takes. some ppl just want to say their opinion unfiltered bc ... nuance takes work and theyre not thinking abt it that much. also some ppl want notes/clout and its way quicker to use guilt or anger to get RBs than it is to like. write a long effortpost that takes into account counterarguments, esp bc theres a good chance that whoever finds ur post isnt gna read something super long. this answer is already longer than i would have liked! 

other than that theres a few things that are personal to me which i think make me slightly more equipped for communicating my ideas (which is definitely a skill! one that i wasnt born with!). my life story isnt particularly interesting nor generalizable to a wider audience so i wont get that into it, but the tldr is that i grew up with a mother who went out of her way to teach rhetorical strategies to me from a young age, and i also have two degrees in nonfiction writing so i just do it a lot. practice makes perfect etc. i only mention that bc if some young teenager is reading my blog and wondering why their takes dont sound like mine, a lot of it is just. practice and time!

Sun and Moon and character dynamics - a.k.a Ash’s unbelievably many varied types of friendships in this series like holy s

sit down friend, i am about to ramble on about sun & moon’s brilliance in its character writing. i center this mostly around ash because he’s my fave. i love all of them but i have biases from my childhood and i tend to gravitate towards main charact- i mean anyway here we go. (warning: gettin a bit personal but not in a negative way)

one of my many fave things about sun and moon are the characters. the entire main crew of classmates are all different and fun in the own individual ways and they all manage to hold an episode very well, even though they rarely have to do that (and that’s good, because it’s a story about friends and support and family!! never put them alone to deal with a new, scary situation tbh, that’s too dark for me). everyone in the main cast have all managed as the emotional core of the episode, not necessarily because they are all very likeable, which definitely isn’t necessary for good storytelling, but i’d argue that it’s valuable especially in children’s tv, showing good people making mistakes and showing how far a supportive environment goes to help them over that. every individual dynamic between ash and another member of the sumo team is so unique to each other. ash isn’t at the forefront of everything, he’s not “the” main protagonist, and he isn’t what makes this series compelling, but he IS an excellent tether between this group of friends to me, personally, and i think this show has a lot of new ash content i haven’t gotten in many, many series run (ash is great, alright? you guys are just mean.)

im especially glad of sophocles’ and ash’s friendship because their complementary differences are in such a good balance, and i have such a soft spot for sophocles. sophocles is smart and not-sporty, but he isn’t a know-it-all stereotype. i was afraid there would inevitably be a fat joke or nerdy joke, but i don’t remember seeing anything too demeaning or harmful in the light tone they handle sophocles’ nerdiness and roundness. i still remember watching the very early episode where ash and sophocles are still getting to know each other and they get stuck in the mall. even before all the fun character beats as they scramble in the dark (and get short with each other) in that episode, i remember with GREAT fondness when sophocles was very hesitant to admit he’s in the mall to indulge in ice cream. he’s shy about his sweet tooth! i found the excecution very delicate and sweet (pardon the pun), because i don’t think i’ve related in that specific way to a character before in a show? because being fat means that there is an awkwardness and hyperawareness whenever you so much as think about stepping into the candy aisle, and sophocles not wanting to admit to his new classmate-soon-to-be-friend that he’s indulging was, deliberately written that way or not, very real. (not to be a sophocles stan, but he’s a good kid and deserves everything good since episode 1).

but i digress. sophocles steps in to teach his classmates sometimes because he loves learning. he rarely acts condescending to his friends. be the everyman in some crazy situations ash and others get into sometimes (that shrinking episode?? it’s still one of my favourites mostly because of the group of characters they chose for the main conflict. the daredevil pokemon loving duo that is lillie and ash vs. sophocles’ anxiety about the hectic and kinda perilous situation!! it was hilarious). sophocles, to me, seems to value ash’s friendship for similiar reasons clemont used to, in XY. it seems more warm and mutual in this series, thanks to ash’s characterisation. sophocles saves ash in several occasions, which, just! hello!! is the best thing and i love that all these kids are heroes and worthy of admiration. they also remain good. theyre all good. all rangers are equally important. they’re all amazing. okay? alright.

its heartwarming and supportive. they also are like, bonded through their main pokemon being electric mice. isn’t that the cutest?

ash and kiawe on the other hand, they’re a powerhouse couple that egg each other on. they push each other forward and have similiar sense of drive towards pokemon and battles. ever since kiawe gave hint that he battles he found common ground with ash. also he’s such a goofball who gets SUPER emotional about so many things (his sister!! mountains!! determined people!! so many things! he cries openly!) even though he comes across as serious at first, which kind of gives us a character with some similiar traits to ash but who couldn’t ever be mistaken for ash’s personality. they both get fired up in tandem about competing, but they also come from very different lives and backgrounds. I don’t ever think to compare their dynamic to anything else, they’re really unique! they are also mutually supportive, but it has a distinct flavor compared to sophocles and ash. maybe kiawe is a little bit more relatable to ash because of their similiar interest in battling and competing?

ash and lillie are super lovely and i like that lillie has her own story that ash is driven to help her with. and they are similiar in their excitement about pokemon (and yet, in a wholly different way than ash and kiawe are?? lillie has great drive in wanting to help pokemon with knowledge and books, because a hands-on approah wasn’t possible to her in so long, but i think when sophocles learns about stuff, it’s his studious nature and interest in tiny details.) and self-sacrificing hero-type stuff. we got to see lillie fulfill her potential after she figured out her way through her trauma, and we could see that out of her shell, lillie and ash are super similiar, AGAIN in a different way from the others, but never in a less important way. lillie is just a ray of sunshine. she also knows he limitations and works toward overcoming them. her and ash’s frienship comes from going through some very important and life-changing things together. i think ash really wanted lillie to be able to touch pokemon because it’s important to him and it clearly used to be to lillie, which he realises when he sees her old photos.

ash and mallow have this very sweet and family-oriented sibling relationship. they’re not often paired up but i think the times they are, they remind me of my sister and me, which is such a big part of my love for mallow, even if she doesn’t get imo enough spotlight in the big plots. on the other hand, her personal journeys within her own family are so good i cannot be mad at anything. she guides, she’s patient, she’s enhusiastic in a similiar way to ash, but has a more level head. but she also eggs her friends on with her boundless energy. the more i think about her, the more i love her. mallow is awesome!! not least of all, she has such good relationships toward her female classmates. she’s nosy and protective, but not in a smothering way. she’s very supportive and very good at it. (the episode with the mom? killed me.) the way she takes care of her peers in the school is amazing.

ash and lana are both adventurous, i think they really like to get in trouble together lol. lana is also strong and they both ooze main character material with the way they have with pokemon in the wild. it’s awesome. i kind of feel like these two could use a more emotional episode together, but i think i’ll have plenty to be emotional about when this crew parts ways :(((

i made myself sad, but i can confidently say that this show has the most unique and varied and developed set of characters and character dynamics of all pokemon, in a cast this size. the fact that they’re good friends and have none of that bordering-on-mean banter from any of the previous seasons is in fact, a big bonus for me. i love this class, i wish i could hang out in alola indefinitely.

QUESTION 1. What has been your favorite scene in the comic so far? What specifically did you like about it?

QUESTION 2. In what ways do you think Yokiro will find a way to be helpful to Tatsuma and Sikue (if any)? Overall, how do you foresee him growing and changing as a person over the course of his journey?

1. Hmm... I'd say the burning building rescue from Book 3. I loved seeing Tatsuma putting aside her hangups and actually helping people for once - even if she claimed she was only doing so to protect Sikue. And I loved the frank conversation Tatsuma and Yokiro had on the cliffside after the fact. I also really like this scene http://beyondbloom.webcomic.ws/comics/120/ of Sikue and the fireflies. It's just such a cute interaction between Sikue and Yokiro! 2. I think he's already been helpful - he's taught them about humanity. Though I would love if during the final encounter with the big bad benta boss Yokiro saves the day using his fishing skills XD

My favourite scene was probably the scene where they fight Ginari and Evalkol—it showed that the three main characters are loyal to each other even when they disagree, and it was really cool to see so many characters in action

1) My favorite scene is probably the one where Yokiro caught Sikue playing with bugs and dancing...and then falling flat on her fact. Not only were the illustrations really beautiful, but I liked the blend of cute, comedy, and...mysticism for lack of a better word. It really sticks with me cause I think it was such a great bonding moment between the characters despite nothing of immense significance happening. 2) I have to agree with @snuffysam on this. I think Yokiro has already been kind of helpful. Not just in teaching them about humanity and how humanity isn't awful, but also by being the most practical between them. Cause like he thought of the toothbrushes (not that they for sure need it, but its the thought that counts). Of course, I think Yokiro might find other ways to help. Like maybe learn to hit people with a giant stick. I do think through the journey though Yokiro is gonna find his calling though. Maybe as just some charity guy who helps ppl. Opens an orphanage. Something like that.

3) My favorite character is probably Sikue if for no other reason than I like her design. Shes really cute but also has this sort of elegance about her despite the circumstances. Plus, between the three, I'd characterize Sikue as the hope of the group since shes caring, considerate, etc. I guess in otherwords, she's the glue that keeps the train going. 4) From what we've seen so far, it seems the others are based on animals, versus Tatsuma and Sikue who were plants. So a lot more might have gone into them, thus giving them access to more special abilities. However, I think that story about them being eternity flowers has a lot to do with it. Maybe they're strong just because their natures are so entertwined. So in a way nothing they cant conquer as long as theyre together.

5) As partly mentioned, my fave illustration is definitely this huge panel one of Sikue, Yokiro, and the fireflies. http://beyondbloom.webcomic.ws/comics/125/ The combination between the night sky and fireflies is breathtaking, and the angle really sells the beauty of it to me. 6) I do think the three will find some way to belong in the world, but a long time from now and eventually. The feeling of belonging, imo, is one that comes from confidence and self-acceptance. And I kind of don't think any of them are even close to that mental juncture. They're still asking who they are, why they exist, what should they do with themselves, etc. And these are the sorts of feelings that will make you feel isolated even if you have a large community who likes you all around you. Which I guess, this is what I think the story will teach us about what it means to belong. It doesn't mean fitting in, it doesn't necessarily even mean having a large community. Belonging is something that is just as much about loving yourself for the good and the bad and having the confidence that no one can tell you otherwise.

QUESTION 9. What sorts of art or story details have you noticed in the way the comic is crafted that you think deserves attention?

QUESTION 10. Why do you think the benta were created in the first place? In other words, what is the Keeper’s ultimate end goal? How do you think the Keeper intends to capture Tatsuma and Sikue, and what would happen to them in that situation?

7) I probably like seeing Sikue and Yokiro interact the most. I like seeing how Yokiro is help expose other sides to Sikue, since Sikue is a lot less forward about stuff than Tatsuma. Thus, it's like getting to delve into a mystery. 8) I think Ginari is gonna stay pretty loyal to the Keeper, if only because of the answer to the next question. I don't think Ginari will ever forgive them for killing her dragon, because she'd also have to forgive herself. Thus, she will always have a grudge against them even if she somehow left the Keeper. Honestly, if she doesn't wind up dying a tragic death, I will be super duper surprised. >_>;;;;

9) I appreciate the balance of nature. Since the story features them traveling in a lot of forests, it's there a lot. However, it's not always super detailed or super obviously present. Like sometimes it's simplified and cut back, whereas other times it takes up a good chunk of the panel and is super detailed. I think this works really well, though, as it allows the nature to functionally add atmosphere to key moments, whether isolation, mysticism, or something else needs to be conveyed. 10) Ya know, I'm not sure the Keeper has an end goal. Maybe the Keeper just wants to prove what true power is or something like that. I do think regardless of goals, part of the creationg was derived just from the idea that the Keeper thought they could do it. And when you can do something, why not do it? I think the Keeper intends to trick them into coming by making them desire answers to question with the assumption the Keeper knows the answers. As for outcome, ya know, abuse their powers to do jerk things. The usual.

This comic is unique in that even though it focuses on super-powered beings, the story doesn’t have a lot of fighting, instead it’s more like a casual adventure story following the journey of three characters and every once in awhile goes to some mysterious anti-heroes and bad guys. Nobody take insult from this but it actually reminds me of the original Ice Age movie. (I love that movie so I don’t mean it in a bad way)(edited)

I think since Kenber didn’t seem to be super dangerous and I don’t even know if they have police in this world—I think what he (Yokiro) did was pretty okay, especially since Kenber is just a kid. You definitely would need to use discretion with stuff like that IRL though(edited)

11) I think the comic's strengths lie in the characters. The designs are really clean and stand out against each other. There's also interesting elements incoporated to reflect the plant and animal natures. The intereactions are also a lot of fun and come with both drama and comedy, so the comic has a little something for everyone. 12) I have mixed feelings about Yokiro's handling of it. I think it's nice, but I also think eventually that forgiving nature is gonna bite him in the butt. Cause sometimes second chances just explode and it doesn't work as well as it did in that specific scenario. However, I think it's a good message about how all people are different and just cause our first impression isnt good, it could change if we take the time to get to know someone. And I think that is the takeaway of the story in terms of forgiveness. Not all the time, but sometimes it's worth trying to understand why someone would do something awful.

13) I am looking forward to seeing Yokiro grow and evolve more and what he'll contribute to the group some more. I'm always fascinated by the dynamics between super powered people and then the non-super powered companions, cause theres a lot of emotional exploration of inferiority complexes available there. 14) I assume the lady was just some random lady who found Tatsuma and Sikue and took them in because the lady seemed nice. And I assume they caused a fire, lady died, everyone blamed them. Or something like that. I'm taking Occam's Razor with this one and assume it's the most common assumption.

my final thoughts to share are... this comic is incredible. truly incredible. a lovable cast of characters at every level, and downright stunning art pieces. keep at it, nia~!

Didn't have time to get to every question, but here are some responses! 1) The part in Book 4 where Yokiro and Sikue meet in the forest stands out. It's a simple moment, but it feels very important. The illustration complements the emotions of the scene perfectly - as these two characters are starting to open up to each other for the first time, the black and white page blooms (lol pun) into color and the panels drift into a more loose and organic arrangement. It's super well done. 2) In a way, he's helpful because he's someone who they can trust. The three of them share the experience of being somewhat isolated from the world at large, so I think that they all benefit from knowing each other. Yokiro is definitely helpful when dealing with people, but I think that he's still conflicted about leaving his old life behind. He mentioned at one point that he had a family, so I wouldn't be surprised if he runs into them eventually. 3) It's hard to choose, but Tatsuma is my fave. I like how she's tough and prone to messing around a lot of the time, but she's very determined to protect the people she cares about. With the fire in the village and in the situation with Kenber, she believed that it would be smarter to stay out of trouble, but she was willing to jump in without hesitation to help Sikue and Yokiro. 5) The first page of Book 3. Its portrayal of dialectical exchange between two legendary philosophers is simply astounding. :3

8) I think that she will, at least for a while. I don't think that she'd want to abandon the other benta. She was genuinely concerned for Mae's wellbeing, and she got along well with Elvalkol for the most part. It seems like she has some personal history with the Keeper - their interactions were a bit more familiar than what you'd expect if they were just a boss and his lieutenant, and since she's apparently opposed to what he's doing, she might try to confront him at some point. It's hard to imagine her forgiving Tatsuma and Sikue. Aside from killing her dragon, the two may have some importance to the Keeper's plans. 9) I agree with RebelVampire, the forest backgrounds are always nice and complementary to the atmosphere. The sound effects represented as words (...idk what they're called, onomatopoeias?) are used to a good effect too. They're never just the usual generic sound effects, they always seem custom-tailored to each specific situation. :D 11) The characters are a fantastic aspect of the comic. The dynamic between the main three makes it so fun to read. Also, the comic is good at presenting little insights and hints about the world throughout the characters' journey. It's kinda hard to explain, but the world feels very 'alive' and vibrant. 12) Yokiro was patient and demonstrated good will with Kenber, and it seemed to make a real impression on the kid, so it's hard not to view what he did as commendable. I really liked that arc. 13) I'm excited to potentially see the benta settlement. It sounds like a decent place from Elvalkol's description, but I wonder what's it really like with the Keeper in charge? Seeing Yokiro's family would be cool as well. Anyways, final thoughts: this comic really does feel special in a way. The characters are memorable, and all of the different parts of it are treated with care.

I don’t really see why everyone is so upset but the possible student/teacher(i’m assuming all the ‘students’ will be 18+ imo)it’s not like anybody pointed out any other power dynamics? Like any royal/General+any of their soldiers is as bad as teacher-student power dynamics wise if not worse. Your teacher doesn’t hold *that* much power over you meanwhile a royals could for sure have you executed if you don’t reciprocate? But everyone’s fine with those? Idk this might just be me missing something

I guess it’s just a sticky situation all around. Traditionally teacher/student relationships aren’t very good because there’s usually a significant power imbalance in terms of both age difference and the teacher being able to inflict some sort of payback on the student should things go badly. Which, for the student, can usually impact your future at the school quite negatively. Also, the student is then focusing on their romantic relationship with the teacher and not their studies. It’s a distraction. The fact Byleth seems to be the same age as everyone else (and presumably they’re all 18+ like you said, though I guess we’ll have to see) does help with at least part of it. But in any kind of educational setting, you definitely want your teacher to be unbiased. Romantic stuff means that they’re not being very unbiased in a pass/fail and favoritism sense, usually. Also they’re not a very good teacher if they’re mixing their job and personal life. (Again, speaking strictly from a “they’re all adults in the same age range” POV). (Also IRL, most of the time if you hear about student/teacher relationships, that situation often ends with the teacher needing to lose their job or be in jail, usually rightfully so. Granted, this is a video game and not real life, but a situation did happen in my hometown just recently that makes my gut reaction go “yikes” when I think of that sort of thing.) 

I think most of the “yikes” factor so far is we just don’t know the ages of everybody, and the school setting gives things more of a “high school” than “college” vibe at this point. If we can say definitively that nobody is underage when the game is released, that’s probably going to avert most of my “uh-oh” feelings about it. But from a realistic standpoint that’s still a conflict of interest. Which is usually against the rules for a reason.

I guess we’ll just have to see how the game handles it? I don’t want to get worked up about anything when I don’t actually know how the game is going to play out at this point. And yeah, you’re right that a General/Soldier dynamic does have the same kind of vibe! And those are often banned irl for similar reasons! I think because the FE games have always taken place in an army setting and they’ve been handled (usually) well, we the audience feel good about them in FE games. If those weren’t allowed, we usually wouldn’t have any S Ranks at all in FE. Also, sometimes your underling soldier is a dragon. So things are a little different in that context, lol. In contrast, we’ve never seen the school setting before, and students are usually at a huge disadvantage against teachers irl. (And again, usually the age thing, but we’ll see if that’s a factor here. Otherwise it’s just unprofessional). So that makes a lot of us wary at the prospect at this point.

tl;dr it’s the inherent power imbalance

Sidenote: I don’t really want to get into a debate with people or let my inbox become a space for this kind of debate/different people’s opinions to be posted nonstop, so if I get any other asks pertaining to this aspect of the game, I’ll probably just delete them automatically regardless of if I like what you have to say or not. Sorry! I just don’t want anything getting out of hand. And if the game handles S Ranks tastefully and well, I’ll be excited! I’m just a little wary right now but staying on the positive side. We won’t know until we know.

u said about hzd2 and im absolutely losing it i love hzd and i cannot WAIT to see what they do next!!!!!!! i agree with the combat n stuff, hzd could be so much better (not to say it's bad!!), i've been playing botw for a while and i can see how hzd could maybe take something away from its competitor bc botw handles an open world spectacularly...... i'd love to like. have more things to explore? a reason to get out there and search for things other than to tick things off a list yknow

I know!! and yea like some rando human can hit aloy with her staff and she’ll lose like 75% of her health while a machine is easier to survive up close for some reason?? i did like how in the frozen wild they improved with the dialogue scenes (the parts that arent cutscenes) and aloy/other characters were more active during those scenes, but some of the voice acting for minor characters werent that good in the base game and some of the models/their ai were weird too imo

and idk how breath of the wild is, but i agree that it’d be cool if they added easter eggs around the map or had more things for you to explore that wasnt related to the story. i looked around most of the map a ton just because, but itd be nice if it had rdr2-like items that arent just collectibles and all that (and some of the ancient collectibles werent that interesting but at least it wasnt like tr 2013′s or uncharted’s anything lol.) They definitely had plenty of opportunities for aloy to explore older ruins or something for sidequests but they only really ever did that with the ancient power armor or the ancient mod for her spear in tfw, so i think thats something they could include in the future

i think theres a ton of potential for future characters and the environment theyre in and hopefully if they do make a squeal, theyll improve a ton with those things

Imo, saying you don't write disabled reader out of respect =/= ignoring the problem. It doesn't mean they have an issue with it or are uncomfortable writing it. It's about the fact they may not be disabled and don't want to do it injustice if they happen to fuck it up, even with research.

Also, people are so touchy about stuff like these days - writing disabled readers or neurodivergent readers or lgbtq+ readers if they are not those things and there's been more anon hate than anon love so it's more likely someone would get hate for writing it when they're not than someone being thankful. In which case, it's someone saying you can't write disabled reader if you are not disabled.

i totally get where you're coming from! it makes a lot of sense, anon hate is rampant these days and i do understand not having the energy to a) do research and b) handle hate if theyre hit by it bcos writing can be hard and a lot of people just want to do it for fun! me too, a lot of the time!! so im not attacking the fact that writers choose not to, i get that! im talking more about the fact that they say its to be respectful - when disabled people are begging to be included and often, if your intentions have been well meaning and you've avoided harmful stereotypes, most are happy and thankful for finally being visible.

also i didn't mention this in the post (i might edit it after this) but i also do think theres a difference between writing neurodivergent/mentally ill readers and physically disabled readers to some extent. mental illness is often a lot more personal and differ severely between people and can often be tied back to behavior - which differs (youve met one autistic person, you've only met one. my sister and i both are autistic but we are wildly different) and while physical disabilites can obviously differ as well, there's definitely a difference in how much and how to describe it in your fic. you can easily write one where the reader uses hearing aids, uses sign language, talk about taking care of eczema or taking pills to manage chronic pains without making it that big of a deal/the entire plot - it can honestly be that simple. the difference however, means the world to disabled people (you can do it too, with mental illness but i get that that's a more touchy subject! and more likely to get you hate, because it can feel a lot more like a personal/emotional attack etc) i'm not comfortable writing about mental illnesses (even though i do fall within some), for example! and thats fine, because i shouldnt be forced to write anything just because - you shouldn't either!!! but it's the reason why that matters :)

disabled people also highly encourage people to write about disabilities and often tell people they're welcome to come to them for help etc and while it's not necessarily a disabled person's job to educate, we mostly just get so happy from the fact that somebody shows interest in including us that we happily tell about our experiences or send some info online! if the disabled person does not have the energy or want to, they'll let you know and theres probably someone else who wouldn't mind if you search around a little :)

at the top of my recipes list is japchae because i had a mildly scarring experience with a local restaurant and i still dont know what vegetable(?) i found in it but it very uncomfortable to not know what i was going to be consuming and the next one is mango sticky rice which is actually really simple but everyone in my house loved it when i ordered some from a thai food truck (it was so good, wed had it before? but this was from an authentic thai owned food truck and it showed)

block b is so good! honestly some of my favorite songs come from groups that are disbanded or pretty much there topp dogg? theyre everything imo, 4minute? everything and more, and i wish i had gotten into kpop earlier but i live in a terrible area to be encouraged to view outside cultures

i think my favorite historical drama is the untamed (its chinese) because music is so prevalent also its very fantasy and despite the forced censorship regarding the main relationship (theres a whole uncensored novel) its still very apparent to me that theyre in love and stuff which i deeply appreciate but its incredibly long so it really brought out the worst in my attention span issues, ive also started watching rookie historian and i really like it so far but im not that far into it :/ i really relate to being totally absorbed in a drama and stuff though, if something really spectacularly catches my attention (without being 50 episodes all being 45 minutes long) i really get sucked in and its like all over for anything else

only one of my geckos ever tries to bite? and its only very occasionally- we try to leave him alone for the most part because its after a lot of handling. one of our geckos is albino! shes super super pretty but were really super careful about lights and stuff because of her eyes- i obviously cant make your decision for you but if you decide to get something other than a rodent maybe check give/donate the items to your friend and the shelter? because there are things your friend probably wouldnt need like another cage (obviously assuming you dont think youll get another rodent in the future)

mugs are super fun! i have a couple of fun mugs i was given as gifts and my favorite one is a black one that turns into the skyrim opening scene as it gets hot! also i looked at the mugs you mentioned and theyre super cute! i like rocks and shells and stuff as souvenirs (legally obtained, i bought a gypsum rose once and my life will never be the same)

tbh i cant pick between coffee or tea. im a bit of a snob when it comes to individual roasts and sources or types of tea (especially when it comes to earl grey) i also cant pick between iced or hot for either- its all go its place :)

your fear of heights reminds me of minho in the fandom tour episode where they go to nami island. it’s so cute how he makes IN help him over to get on the zipline.  melatonin always hits me so hard. when i wake up in the morning i feel like i got hit by a truck and i usually end up sleeping through my alarm.  if you could meet any person in the world who would it be? i mean obviously i want to meet kpop stars but i’d love to meet the film director wes anderson. thank u!! god i dont actually know THAT much about the language yet bc i havent started researching but a few interesting points i’ve picked up are that 1. they always referred to drug users as ‘fixer/fixerinnen’ which is obviusly like...quite a politicised term when they had the option to say like drogenabhängige or sth 2. academics would constantly refer to ‘ansteckungsverdächtigen’ and the verdächtig in that is like...HMMM...not good 3. there was a medical panel held in 1987 in east berlin which used english terminology to describe sexual practices that carried increased risk of hiv transmission (e.g. fisting) and because lots of people didn’t speak english they weren’t actually being educated on what they should be avoiding/doing more safely SO!! theres a lot to look at i havent really started researching like i said i should though but theres already a lot of interseting things in there imo sorry this is probably super boring i just get very excited about it

oh absolutely!! it was because of necessity (the way the ecnomy was set up meant that they needed all available bodies working) but it meant that there were SO many more provisions especially childcare and you can still see that prevailing today theres a huge divide between east/west in terms of maternity leave and childcare

how do you like the movie so far? most people's reviews arent satisfied at all (the animation quality), but imo the story from tri are well thought and connected with the first series. also people keep asking for 02 casts. in my view, when they show the 02 kids are defeated, it's pretty clear theyre not bringing them back like until really late. it's like the writer's "harsh" way of getting rid of 02 cast but it's all about the first kid anyway so i dont realy mind this is more like rant tho lol

If you are asking for my thoughts on Digimon Adventure Tri as a whole then my thoughts are that I’m pretty satisfied with it. 

First off, I have virtually no issues with the animation. I actually like the style and designs for the characters a lot. Regarding the animation quality in certain scenes, I know that animators in Japan are really overworked, and Toei doesn’t have a massive budget like movies such as Your Name, so I don’t expect perfection. It’s unfortunate and sometimes a bit annoying but not something I would ever complain about. Overall the animation is really nice. Plus, I don’t care as much about animation as I do about story. Something can look beautiful but if the story doesn’t interest me then I don’t care. For example, the movie Avatar. It’s aesthetically pleasing but the story is generic and dull. So, it doesn’t matter how pretty the environment is, I’m not going to like it. I’m actually surprised that animation is something Digimon fans are complaining about. The original series animation was pretty poor, the characters were constantly off model, they always had to reuse animation, and the Digimon barely moved during fight scenes and when they did their movement are kind of stiff. It’s not bad but it’s certainly not great by any means. We didn’t watch the show for it’s animation, we watched it for the story.

I think the ideas that Tri has are actually really good and you can see that many things were planned out. I think these writers really understand the characters and it really feels like a direct sequel to 01. But they do have an issue with execution. Pacing is a little off sometimes, certain scenes drag and others go way too fast. How they go about revealing information isn’t great either. On the overall it’s good though. 

I think Tri does, however, have two major faults. 

The first is Meiko. Her inclusion is in direct conflict with the nostalgia factor of these movies. We came to see characters we grew up with and love, not to see a brand new character’s story. In addition, she isn’t handled very well. 

Many Meiko supporters think the only reason people dislike her is because she’s new, but that’s not true. Daigo and Maki are also new characters and you see few people complaining about their inclusion. In fact, many people think Maki is one of the best things to come out of this season. The reason people dislike Meiko but not Daigo and Maki is because A. Neither of them steal nearly as much screen time, and B. Maki and Daigo have far more compelling stories and are much better handled. They are interesting and active characters. Meiko on the other hand does steel a ton of screen time and is not an active character. She is pushed along by the plot and almost never does anything. She is way too passive of a character. People complained about Jyou in Saikai and Ketsui for similar reasons. Anyway, I’ll go into more detail about my thoughts on Meiko at a later date.

The other issue is the handling of 02. The way I see it, we are sitting in this weird realm where 02 is both canon and not canon. Certain aspects really don’t seem to line up. Plus, how the 02 kids are being handled could definitely be better. The fact that the kids put so much focus on Meiko and yet seem to have more or less severed their relationship with Ken and the others is weird. Then you have the fact that they just straight up kill Imperialdramon like it’s another monster of the week. Now I actually won’t complain about the kids facial expressions and response to seeing Ken because the way the kids respond to Taichi’s death is more or less the same. Tri sometimes has very underwhelming reactions to things. Like watch Sora’s reaction to Taichi’s death in Kyosei and compare it to her reaction to his death in episode 20. There is a pretty big difference. She screams his name in episode 20 but only quietly speaks his name in Kyosei. 

However, I’m not expecting to see the 02 kids, nor will I complain if they only appear in a non speaking cameo at the end of Bokura no Mirai. The more I see people complain about the absence of the 02 kids, the less I want to see them. Everything about the promotional material indicated that the 02 kids would not be involved and that Tri was going to focus on the original 8. They have never appeared in any of the promotional material. It was so much so that people began to think that 02 was going to be retconned entirely. I don’t know where 02 fans got the idea that they would have any major role in this story. Though I do understand wanting to get an answer as to where they’ve been and why they were attacked. I also want to know this, but I’m expecting to get an answer to this nearing the end of the final movie just like how we have had to wait a long time for the answer to all our other questions. 

I also think it doesn’t help that Tri has to get their story out within the limit of 6 movies. I think it should have been 12 movies. Or even better, it should have been the length of a normal Digimon season, as in 50 or so episodes 24 minutes in length. So basically I think it should have been around 1200 minutes long. With each movie being around 90 minutes long so far, plus the extra length of Kokuhaku and assuming Bokura no Mirai will be the longest, we are going to get max 600 minutes. Though, they could have probably done a much better job in even 9 movies. 

Anyway, that is a summary of my thoughts on Tri as a whole so far.
