Lila fails school
As I write this short series, I have seen Lila grow from a terrible liar to an OOC idiot who doesn’t know when to quit and is obsessed with Adrien. Oh well, it’s still fun to write Lila bashing fics. I hope you enjoy this final chapter of Lila Lies!
Tumblr media
Yeah...Lila had been hoping to get her classmates to do her work for her. That failed. Marinette is too busy to help her.
Lila claims to be struggling with physics and asks Marinette for help. Marinette knows this is probably a ploy to get closer to Adrien but since she promised to help Lila make amends, Marinette suggests Adrien as a physics tutor. Only, to make sure Adrien isn’t uncomfortable being alone with Lila, it is a group study session at Adrien’s house.
This time when Marinette asks for Adrien’s consent, it is his turn to ask why Marinette is friends with Lila. She gives the same reason as before with Nino. Marinette hates liars but she also understands what it’s like being lonely and doesn’t think Lila should be friendless. Besides, Marinette reminds Adrien that he keeps giving Chloe chances. Adrien emphasises with Marinette and agrees for her sake. He will give Lila the benefit of the doubt. But if she utters even one bad word about his Lady, he will keep his Princess away from the liar. Marinette deserves better friends than the liar.
Alya and Nino join in to protect their friends from Lila.
Marinette is upset that Lila is lying her way past Nathalie. Her friends notice this with glee because surely Marinette is close to her limit.
So while Marinette actually asks questions to solve questions, Lila just snoops around (finds the fencing team’s phone list near their photo frame) and brags about her time in Japan. Marinette asks Lila to focus on physics.
Study session over. While the rest leave, Lila takes her time gathering her stuff. She sneaks a surprise kiss on Adrien as a thank you.
While the other 3 manage to evade Gabriel before he enters the entrance hall, Lila purposefully makes her presence known.
She sends her photo to Kagami before catching up with the others.
Kagami gets akumatized. Marinette witnesses Lila being attacked and tells her to run.
As Marinette rushes to get help, Alya and Nino follow the akuma for their blog.
Heroes fight Oniichan. Lila feigns being injured but what she doesn’t know is that Alya and Nino have caught up and Alya had secretly recorded her deal with the akuma that she will give up Adrien if Oniichan gets rid of Ladybug, and Chat’s accusation of Lila sabotaging their fight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once the fight is over, Alya intercepts Ladybug for an interview while Lila heads for home. Alya reveals the new information to a shocked and saddened Ladybug. She suggests Alya give the evidence to the police before posting it.
That night, the police approach Lila and her Mother separately, informing them of the former’s arrest.
Lila defends her alliance with the akuma with the excuse that she was facing a murderous akuma. And maybe she only had a minor injury and made a big fuss over it.
Mrs Rossi defends her daughter. How dare the police accuse her sweet angel for the sake of that failure of a hero.
The police point out Ladybug has always won every battle.
Mrs Rossi snaps, “Then why has my daughter’s school been shut down for months?”
Roger asks what Mrs Rossi is talking about. Lila attends the same school as his daughter and the school has only been closed for a day maximum, whenever an akuma attacked.
Mrs Rossi asks how he could let his Daughter attend a school with an akuma as the principal.
Roger points out that Damocles had only been akumatized as Dark Owl once, at night, and therefore after school hours.
Mrs Rossi finally realizes the implications of what the policeman is telling her. Has Lila been lying to her all this time?
An emergency call is made to the Owl for confirmation. Thank Heaven the Owl keeps his hero hotline on at all hours.
The Owl confirms the police’s statements, though his hero costume is not impressive to Mrs Rossi. He states that he has a written letter from Mrs Rossi informing the school of her trip to Achu with Lila.
With the new information, the principal informs them that Lila will mostly likely have to repeat the year at least. And this is before he learns of Lila’s antagonism against Ladybug.
The next morning, Lila’s bargain with Oniichan is posted on the Ladyblog. Marinette renounces her friendship with Lila, having given up on her. Gabriel sends a lawsuit against Lila for sexual harassment on his son. With all this new information, Lila is a school pariah. Only Caline is trying to be nice to her.
Chloe heard what the liar did to Adrien and Ladybug and gets her father to ban Lila from Paris - after all they can’t have an ally of Hawkmoth’s in the city.
Mrs Rossi tries to find a new school for her daughter which is hard enough with all these charges against her. What makes it too much is that Lila’s latest report card reveals lousy grades since she skipped on school projects and tests and no longer has a valid excuse for missing them.
Lila may have been better at calculus than Adrien but she still failed that subject by her truancy.
Lila is finally sent to a reform school and has to take appointments with a counsellor. At her new school, everyone is aware of her reputation.
Back in Paris, Marinette apologizes to her friends. They forgive her. Adrien admits that he can’t judge her. After all, he also keeps giving Chloe a chance despite her being a bully.
Alya uses this chance to be a matchmaker and manages to get Adrien to comfort Marinette in the aftermath of Lila. So Adrien and Marinette spend more time together alone.
P.S. I am going overseas tomorrow so I will be posting an extra story soon to make up for a missing post tmr.

Headcanon that the reason Luka has never met Lila is that her vibes would be so atrocious and her inner music so terrible that not only would he expose her instantly but it would be actively debilitating for him

Y'know, if Lila was just a one-off character for Volpina and we never saw her again, a few tweaks in that episodes writing could have made it a good lesson about not letting your temper get the best of you, even in a situation where your anger is justified
This is in reference to the post where I discussed how terrible Volpina's lesson is and I agree with the proposed change. If Marinette has to be in the wrong here, that's the only way to make it kind of work. In fact, this is what I thought the episode was trying to do on my first watch. When the next season started with Lila gone, I thought, "Okay, so that episode was supposed to be about being the better person and having a more measured response when you've been wronged. I don't think it did that lesson super well, but I can see what they were going for and we'll give them some grace. Definitely one that I wouldn't just give to a kid, though. Way too high a risk of them internalizing a very wrong message."
I only gave the writers that grace because I assumed that Ladybug had truly humiliated Lila out of Paris off screen (remember, we only see Ladybug out Lila to Adrien even though Lila was lying to everyone) and that is a pretty extreme punishment for a teenager making a dumb choice. Even then, saying that Ladybug was in the wrong feels a little too victim blame-y for my tastes. Lila was the one telling the lies and using Ladybug's name for clout on a city-wide scale or possibly even a national/international scale depending on the Ladyblog's viewership. By telling those lies, Lila was harming Alya's credibility and presenting herself as a sort of authority on Ladybug, a position that she was going to use to her advantage as we saw with her manipulating Adrien. She was also putting herself at risk if Gabriel or other villains believed the lies and saw her as a way to get to Ladybug.
That means that the lies Lila told aren't exactly minor, victimless crimes like the lies Marinette and Adrien tell to hide their identities. Lilia's lies needed to be outed on the same scale that they were broadcast and there's no kind way to do that. It's going to have a brutal edge no matter how pretty the words are.
There are times when it's right to be "the better person" and let a thing go, but it's hard to view this as one of them because this was not a nuanced situation. There was no reasonable option other than issuing a public retraction and Ladybug didn't even go that far! She had a single, private confrontation with Lila and then let the matter rest. A better version of this episode might see Alya and Marinette giving a really mean retraction on the Ladyblog that they then feel bad about because they should have been more professional, but that's about it as far as possible improvements go.
If we look at what the episode actually gave us, it feels like another Gamer situation. An episode that blames Marinette for impure motivations while ignoring anyone else's faults, creating a nonsense moral that just makes me mad. Ladybug-is-wrong-for-confronting-the-liar-for-impure-reasons is certainly a take. It's just not one that I'm ever going to agree with. To give a recent, real-world example, do people really feel that James Somerton was the wronged party because his many, many lies and instances of plagiarism were outed in a brutal public takedown? (Context part 1 & part 2, though part 2 is the one to watch if you only want to see why letting lies from respected sources go unchecked can be so messy.)
To be clear, I don't think that Lila's lies were Somerton bad in Volpina, but they were starting to go down that road and they arguably reached Somerton levels by season five. Fakes identities, almost getting Marinette expelled, using her lies to get social power from Gabriel, the list goes on, which is yet another reason to hate Volpina. Its nonsense moral is a big part of why Lila could do all of that. Ladybug should have outed Lila! Society suffered and will continue to suffer because she didn't. That's why you have to stop misinformation as soon as you possibly can, but that wasn't actually the moral of Volpina. The moral was that Ladybug was in the wrong for being mean to the liar. Maybe if she'd been nicer, then Lila wouldn't be so evil now which is a very gross moral! Volpina really does feel even more victim blame-y now that Lila is the new big bad.
That's a good segue to circle back and finish off my original topic: I gave the writers grace for Volpina until Lila returned and established that she'd never been publicly outed. At that point, Volpina lost any chance at me giving it charity. The lesson was worse than I thought and I was fully justified in hating it. It's one of the ones I use when I explain why I wouldn't want a child getting into Miraculous because the problem with Volpina's moral is pretty straightforward.

THE MARIGOLD IS NOT A METAPHOR FOR GENERATIONAL OR PARENTAL TRAUMA. IT IS A LITERAL, TANGIBLE FORCE THAT CHANGES THE UNIVERSE THEY LIVE IN. ERASING THE MARIGOLD IS NOT A METAPHOR FOR KILLING ONESELF TO MAKE THE UNIVERSE A BETTER PLACE IF YOU HAVE TRAUMA. STOP MISCONSTRUING THE ENDING JUST BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T LIKE IT.

Stupid Humans.
When or who said Lila Rossi went to college? You idiots back at it again. And once again you dumb humans throw that secretly an adult card cause you can’t handle her like usual. Man this is why I hate when people talk about Lila and likewise delete every other character and event that’s been in their face because they love wiping poop on themselves for realistic insertions in fiction.
News flash. There exists kids in real life, before even double digits are reached that do stuff in college. Kids that can teach. You arrogant fools underestimate human capabilities and delude yourselves heavily into think somehow there’s no way one can do it or there needs to be someone controlling or using them. Denial is funny until someone decides to step up and shut you idiots up. What’s more sad is selective erasure of self efficient self trained people. And those that a just good at it.
Funnier thing is the oh no more than 2 mothers? I don’t think they know Polygamy is thing concubines whatever. Oh did you know 3 Women married each other? Oh and they’re mothers now. Did you know that 3 men married each other too?
You morons just fantasize having or thinking the absolute worst possible scenario when something threatens your normal. You must really be unable to keep things to yourself. Conclusion jumping trash.
Ill informed feeble yapper can’t even get the context right and erases the protantagonist’s actions (who also affects many others similar) but because the Lila doesn’t crawl back, it’s a disaster, while forgetting the one responsible for this likes making things worse and not listening. Oh snotagonist is just like many of you for real. Pitful.
Run away and blame the writers with your blind love of exaggerating. Did you know 3 doesn’t equal several. Along with the rest of you illwatcherate Trites who intentionally disable themselves from reviewing before yapping and blurt out anything without thinking what you spread around. Fools that can’t accept or understand the free ones Marinette/Ladybug/Gabriel/Hawk Moth gave to Lila. That's why many keep cult relapsing what is her motive what does she love.
Wow, you selectively do make cause and effect doesn’t exist to you, huh?
Who even said Lila is suppose to like chatting with peers. She’s doesn’t even do that often? You pretending it's how she stays alive.
Oh but dub intro praises love so strong? Hmmhmmhmmhmm.
Holding onto such can lead you astray. In fact, what if I told you, the dub version in general may be creating extra stuff or lying in your faces. And you used that template for your theories or speculations heavily. Your lie detectors, right? So you shouldn’t be caught lacking. If you were, then mock yourself like you mock Alya. Then again you fools are the types to be allow yourselves to be continuously bamboozled by marinette countless times. Must be tragic to set up a foundation of crap to spread around and assert but the base was actually a mirage. But you keep putting more junk in the mirage, hoping something that never existed, exists.
Though don’t be Upsette though. More/Subtitle/RAW accuracy doesn’t mean absolute accuracy.

The contrast and the parallels between Tula in the preview for next week’s episode confronting Ava for trying to blame the family instead of letting herself feel sad, and her getting mad at Lila for suggesting that that she’s mad at Geoffrey for dying… it’s delicious.

Miraville au
This is a seriously small post about the au I’m currently in the process of writing :D
The core basis of it, as explained in Branches of a timeline, is that this is a universe where the miraculi and magic have never existed. So all effects of them are not present in this au.
Disclaimer: it's long, it's a mess. Hope you will enjoy it because I'm slowly descending into MADNESS
Marinette Dupain-Cheng
Marinette is the one who will be affected by the last echoes of the previous “corrupted” universe, as she was the last person who was so close to the cause. She is no longer Ladybug, which means that she has a lot more time to pursue the things she loves, which are baking and drawing. She lives in a smaller town, Miraville, in the French countryside, where this whole story is set. She has a little brother (Theodore, 8 y.o.) and lives with her parents who work respectively in a boring office job (Tom, who after failing to open a bakery became basically an engineer out of spite for his father) and in a local coffee shop (Sabine, who met with Tom when working for his father's boulangerie). They have a dog, named Tikki, she's a small wire hair fox terrier. Alya has been one of her best friends throughout elementary school but left for Paris when they started middle school, as of now her best friend is Alix. She is part of the drama club, usually volunteering as a costume maker.
Adrien Grassette
Adrien is... a bit wilder. Due to the fact that miraculous powers are non-existent in this universe, he has been conceived through IVF, but due to many failed attempts and the time for visits, consultation, testing, and everything, Adrien is actually born later than Marinette, and is actually Theo's age, so 8 y.o. In this story, the long and tiring process of Emily trying to conceive and the almost inhumanly controlling way she tries to raise her son make Gabriel, with the help of Nathalie, realize how much he despises the woman and he divorces her, taking full custody of their child. Gabriel then sells his firm and leaves behind his public life to raise his son in Miraville.
Nino Lahiffe
Nino is Marinette's childhood best friend, alongside Kim, since their mothers were extremely close when they were kids due to them being foreigners. Stereotypically normal boy, he's passionate about electronic music, basketball, and football, and occasionally likes to skate with Alix. He's up to date with the most recent anime and manga, and is an avid Nintendo fan. He had a crush on Marinette for a little more than a year in middle school, but never got around to confess. He's in the school football club with Kim.
Alix Kubdel
Marinette's bestfriend. She has let her hair grow longer because she planned on dying it all baby blue, but never got around to it because she loves her pink hair. Hyperactive, she's dyslexic, and is terrible in school, apart from History and Art. Her father is a history teacher in her same high school and her brother is studying to become a researcher on ancient languages. Her mother died when she was seven, and she was a very talented harp player. Alix had a crush on Kim for a long time, which was obvious to anyone, but she distanced herself from him the moment he got into a relationship. She frequently hangs out at a nearby abandoned factory with her other friends. She's really passionate about time traveling and sci-fi and has watched Interstellar and Back to the Future at least a thousand times.
Lila Rougier
Lila is in this story, not as cartoonishly evil as in the canon. She has moved to the town halfway through elementary school and has been close friends with everyone ever since. She is not as much of a compulsive liar, although she definitely lies occasionally to get what she wants. Ever since she started getting asked out a lot, she became obsessed with becoming popular. She's kind of a pick-me girl, however, she is, at least at the start, not targeting Marinette, who she considers a good friend. She's part of the journalism club of their school.
Kim Le Chien
Kim is his stereotypical self. Jock, buff, however he's less idiotic than in canon, since Marinette, who sees him like a brother, has always metaphorically rapped him on the knuckles to teach him respect and empathy. He has a repressed crush on Alix that he won't ever admit, especially since he's in a relationship now. He was raised by a single mother and gets tutored by Marinette frequently on maths so as not to disappoint her. Despite her help, however, he's dumb as a rock and very protective towards his friends, which almost always sometimes results in him getting in real trouble.
Sabrina Raincomprix
She's very similar, personality-wise, to her canon character. She's very shy and kind, usually letting people put their feet on her head. She's been friends with everyone forever, and everyone is worried for her since she always puts herself on the line for everyone. Her mother is a nurse and her father is the chief of police, making her a well-known member of the community. She's a devout Christian and is involved in the local church charity. Kids not in their friend group frequently make fun of and bully her, but usually, Lila, Alix, and Marinette help her deal with them.
Luka Couffaine
He's not from Miraville, but from another town nearby, where his mother has a musical instrument shop. He and his sister go to the same school (Joan d'Arc lyceé) as the others, but they're a year older than them. He's in a small rock boy band (called the Miracles) and sometimes hangs out at the abandoned factory. His sister is in a relationship with Rose, who lives in Paris and is actually stuck in the hospital due to her condition, and he occasionally calls them his "Marceline and Princess Bubblegum". He knows that he's Jagged Stone's son, but he never got to meet him or to ask him.
Chloe Bourgeoise
She's a very interesting character. She's not as needlessly bratty as canon, but she has her reasons to be a pain in the ass. Her parents are divorced and they're too busy fighting to discipline her and her half-sister. Audrey's brand failed the moment the Gabriel brand stopped helping it, and André is always moving around to shoot his (very poorly written and executed) movies. She and Zoé love each other deep down, but they fight a lot. Due to one of their fights, which a teacher mistook for bullying, her parents decided to send her away from Paris to live for a while with her rich grandma, her father's mother, who is incredibly disappointed (to say the least) of her son's antics and how Chloe was raised. She's not a spoiled brat, but she definitely has a problem controlling her anger. Might fight with her friends for anything, but would shoot anyone who dared hurt them.
Felix Sphynx
I couldn't stop myself from actually writing about my boi. He is a very stoic individual: he's described as basically emotionless by all his close friends. He never laughs at their jokes or gets angry about anything, and he's been like this ever since his mother died. His mother (Marianne Lavigne) was almost his carbon copy, being very cold and composed, only ever opening up to his father, (Cesar is actually very lively and bright) who is unable to understand how to help him break out of his shell. His mother was a French and Italian literature teacher and his father is an ophthalmologist. He went to the same kindergarten as Marinette and the others but went to a private school throughout elementary and middle school to be closer to his mother, who was diagnosed with a terminal illness and needed frequent hospitalization. He decided to return to public school since all his friends would attend Joan d'Arc lyceé. He's smart and brilliant, on the school chess team, and always aces his classes. He's very fond of cats: he has a beautiful ragdoll cat named Seraphine and has recently adopted a young black stray that would always follow him home, and called him Plagg as Claude suggested.
Allan Rey
Has been friends with Felix since elementary school. He's the son of the mayor of Miraville, and is an avid football fan, being in the school team alongside Kim and Nino. He's very loyal and extremely charming. He's Allegra's boyfriend since last year, and has heart eyes every time he's around her. His best friend is Claude.
Claude Daniel
Allan's best friend. The oldest of three brothers, he's very energetic and lively. He's passionate about magic tricks and would like to become an illusionist as an adult, but he knows that he will likely have to inherit the family's farm. He loves gossiping with Allegra, who shares his passion for sticking his nose in other people's business. He has a small crush on Allan that he will never confess so as to not ruin their friendship. He is part of the school drama club.
Allegra Gardinier
She's Allan and Felix's middle school classmate. She comes from a family of lawyers and has lived with her father ever since they divorced. She's an equestrian, is part of the school band as a flute player, and lives in an old family villa on the richest side of town.
The rest of the sentikids never existed in this world, and most of the other characters not mentioned here currently live in Paris. Honestly, this is self-indulgent as FUCK and at the same time the best way to try and make sense of all the shit that happened in canon in a world where magic doesn't exist. Maybe I'll get around to explaining a lot better every character, or perhaps I'll just write it who knows. Let me know what you think!
EDIT: I did not know that canonically, Kim has 2 dads, which is amazing, so I'll implement that in there.

MY BRILLIANT FRIEND (L'AMICA GENIALE) (2021–2024): Vivid, expansive, but slow-moving and sometimes exhausting adaptation of the popular Italian novels by Elena Ferrante, about the lifelong friendship between two poor Neapolitan girls: meek, bookish Elena (Lenù) Greco (played at different ages by Elisa Del Genio, Margherita Mazzucco, and Alba Rohrwacher, with Rohrwacher also narrating) and surly, self-destructive Lila Cerullo (played by Ludovica Nasti, Gaia Girace, and later Irene Maiorino), whose various reversals of fortune serve to illustrate the complex intersections of class, gender, and intellectual attainment in postwar Italy.
The principal hook throughout is the homoerotic push-pull between Lenù and Lila, which at times is almost unbearably intense: Even though the sexual component of their feelings for one another remains largely unarticulated — the narrative is conscious of the sexual tension, the characters are not — their relationship is a kind of crackling force field from which the other characters tend to ricochet, but within which Lenù and Lila have seemingly unlimited power to hurt each other in devastating ways. This intensity so thoroughly overshadows the rest of the story that one gets restless whenever Lila is absent for too long. Without Lila, the adult Lenù's passive-aggressive timidity gets tiresome, the supporting characters remain pallid and underdeveloped (especially the men, who are invariably either dull or vile), and the story's political themes lack juice: Lenù has a throwaway line in the fourth season about "bearing witness," but there's seldom enough context for viewers not conversant with this era of Italian history to grasp the issues involved, and filtering them through Lenù's increasingly bourgeois passivity reduces them to background noise.
Furthermore, while the show weathers its first major cast shift (in the first season) without much difficulty, shifting again to different, older actors for the fourth and final season is very jarring, disrupting the story's emotional continuity and making it hard to gauge how much time has actually passed — where previously the cast had started to seem too young to fit the chronology, the later cast seems too old, even though it's really only been a few years. The visual style has also changed, seeming more like a shot-on-video '80s BBC product than the rather glossy cinematic feel of the first three seasons, which isn't necessarily an improvement. I also felt the dramatic effectiveness of the ending was somewhat muted by being so drawn out.
MY BRILLIANT FRIEND gets full marks for its genuinely novelistic feel, but while the segments focusing on the Lenù-Lila relationship are compelling, everything not directly related to that relationship feels dispensable, and there's eventually far too much of that. Requires CWs for sexual assault (especially in Seasons 2 and 3), and Season 2 has an uncomfortable subplot about a creepy older man obsessed with the teenage Lenù.

I saw the tag game that @/stilesinwonderland posted and I had to try because I love talking about and finding new music. I put my On Repeat playlist (actually the AM equivalent, Heavy Rotation mix) on shuffle and here are the first 10 songs it played; all lovely imo 😁
If you see this and want to do it, consider yourself tagged! :)

Ah yes using cameras in Origins apparently do exist, to monitor the school as your means to yap against ludicrous things Lila gets away with.
That sounds nice until you remember cameras are not going to be monitored and maintained or preserved 100%. Networking issues too can happen. But here a real kicker.
Congratulations for not taking into factor many counts of Marinette’s ludicrous stalkery and schemes (with possible assists). Laughs in other characters.
See I swiped your wins here. Pay attention next time.
Now you can go on and suck it this time.
