James and Sirius and Remus and Lily and *takes a dramatic breath* you?
this one's for you @enamoredwithbella, thanks for sorting this idea out with me @unstablereader
poly!Marauders + Lily x shy!reader who is so smitten with them
CW: fem!reader, reader has hair long enough to be played with, reader is in Hufflepuff, swearing, consent because it's sexy AF
This was obviously a bad idea.
You’re not even sure how your friends managed to convince you to attend the Gryffindor party, but you swore to every deity it would never happen again.
There were too many people (most of whom you’d never spoken to before), it was too loud (songs you didn’t particularly care for), and the fifteenth time someone bumped into you nearly sent you over the edge.
“Whoa there, sweetheart.” A low voice commented as an arm quickly righted you from your nearly horizontal position. “Y’alright?”
You looked up to see the face of none other than Gryffindor quidditch captain James Potter beaming down at you.
You were ashamed of yourself for the way that smile made you feel.
“Erm, yup! Thanks.” You squeaked, quickly freeing yourself from James’ grasp so fast that you nearly knocked someone else over in your attempt at creating distance between you and the Headboy.
It wasn’t that you didn’t like James. On the contrary; you were rather smitten with him.
Him and his partners - which was nothing short of dense in simple terms.
But you couldn’t help the way you blushed when he held the doors open for you as you walked into classes, or the friendly smile and wave he’d shoot at you when he saw you on Prefect rounds.
You sort of wished he’d stop being so bloody nice to you; maybe then you’d be able to get over this crush that was never going to amount to anything.
But James was taken; three times over.
And what a sodding group they were.
Heart Throb of Hogwarts™ Sirius Black in his effortless style, his devil may care attitude, and his insatiable flirting. Being noticed by Sirius felt like your favourite rockstar singing a song written just for you.
And don’t even get you started on the enigma that is Remus Lupin; the Cassanova of Gryffindor tower. Everyone in your year (and likely the years below you) had at some point or another crushed hard on the quiet Marauder; but it really couldn’t be helped. He was tall, he was handsome, he was kind, and though he was far more quiet than his counterparts, the quips he shared with you never ceased to reduce you to a fit of laughter.
And gods, was Lily Evans ever beautiful. She was the total package; she was funny, outgoing, smart, and stunning. Looking at her even now with her long auburn hair as she threw her head back in laughter; so open and care free in her actions. You weren’t sure if you wanted to be her or being underneath-
No.
No. That was not a nice thing to think about someone who was in a committed relationship.
You let out a sigh as you zoned back into the fact that James still had one of his hands on your elbow and was smiling curiously at you.
“Thanks for the save! I really owe you one.” You chuckled awkwardly and nearly took out one of the Prewett twins in your haste to leave Potter’s vicinity.
Unfortunately, trouble seemed to be following you.
And by trouble, you meant Sirius Black.
“Damn, Hufflepuff!” He cheered as he moved a sultry gaze up and down your body appreciatively. “Give us a spin, dollface.”
You felt all the blood in your body migrate to your cheeks as you fought to keep your mouth from falling open.
Lily, the beautiful angel (or the evil temptress, depending on how you looked at it), swatted at Sirius from her perch on the arm of the chair her boyfriend was currently occupying.
“Down boy; you’re going to scare her away.” She teased with a smirk as she winked at you.
You felt momentarily grateful for her.
And then she spoke again.
“Then none of us will get to look at her.”
Fucking Helga, was it hot in here? They needed to open more windows; preferably one you could launch yourself out of right now, thank you very much.
“That’d be such a shame, really. Sorry doll, you don’t gotta spin - no one else here deserves to appreciate such a view.”
“Okay.” You squeaked and turned in search of your friends.
You know what? Fuck your friends; you were leaving with or without them.
They weren’t….flirting with you, were they?
Surely not.
Of course not.
What a ridiculous thing to think.
But…it certainly felt like they were flirting with you.
Maybe one more glance?
Just as you were about to approach the portrait hole, you turned for one more look at the objects of your affection and your current tormentors and - yup, sure enough - Sirius, Lily, and now James were all standing there smiling at you.
They were watching you leave?!
Okay time to go, that is enough nonsense for one day.
You spun and collided with something tall and solid which thankfully caught your arms as you all but ricocheted off of them.
“Hey there, dove. Where’re you headed in such a hurry?”
Please for the love of gods, don’t tell me…
But of course, you looked up to see the face of one Remus Fucking Lupin smirking down at you.
“You lot are everywhere.” You whispered in awe. The bastard only chuckled in response.
“Come on you guys! We’re going to start a game of truth or dare!” Lily called over to…you (?) and Remus.
“Well, we wouldn’t want to miss that, would we?” Remus murmured lowly into your ear as he steered you towards the growing circle congregating around the various chairs and sofas littering the common room.
And listen, you’re not particularly proud that you were so placid in Remus’ man handling you.
But in your defence…
In your defence, Remus was man handling you.
And to your absolute horror, he plopped you down beside Lily on a large chair that was not quite large enough for two people.
You tried to swallow your heart back down which was attempting to escape via your mouth as you became hyper focused on the fact that Lily sodding Evans was pushed up against you none too casually and- Merlin’s tits, was she playing with your hair!?
You pretended to pay attention as a few rounds passed by; your friend being dared to give you a lap dance being the most brazen thing to have taken place.
Until it got to the Marauders.
Marlene dared Sirius to strip down to his boxers for a whole round which he was all but too eager to do, apparently. Meaning he got to ask the next person.
“Moony!”
Remus smiled down at his lap before he looked over at one of his boyfriend’s mischievously.
“I dare you to kiss the prettiest girl here.”
You’re not necessarily proud of the way your heart plummeted at that; this is what you had been telling yourself all night. They were taken.
No matter if they complimented you.
No matter if they caught you as you fell.
No matter if they snuggled up to you on a chair designed for one.
No matter if one of them made you feel like you leaving the party early would have been truly devastating.
No matter.
“That’s impossible; there’s two of them.” Remus said quickly, causing your heart to ache for Lily.
Who even says that when their girlfriend is sitting right here!?
You kept your head down as the party all ooooh’ed and aawwwweee’d.
James let out a funny high pitched laugh as if he were an over excited kid on Christmas morning. “Guess you’ll have to kiss them both then.”
You really should have left when you had the chance; you weren’t sure you could watch.
It was their business if they wanted to include another, but that didn’t mean you had to like it.
“Or they can kiss each other; I think I’d enjoy that just as much.”
“Sounds good to me.” Lily said as she stood; the space she once inhabited felt cold and vacant without her.
“Well? Come on then?” She said as she grabbed your arm.
“What?”
“Come with me.” She said again, wiggling your arm within your grasp, and who were you to deny her, really?
Like a well trained dog you followed her obediently over to where Remus sat before she all but shoved you into his lap.
“You seem like the fidgety type; maybe Rem can help with that, hm?” She said as she shot a wink at Remus over your shoulder.
His arms wrapped possessively around your waist as he rested his chin on the junction between your neck and shoulder.
“Is it okay if she kisses you, pretty girl?”
You had no time to be absolutely horrified at the pathetic little keening sound that escaped your lips as you looked up at the red-head now towering over you.
“What do you say, gorgeous?” And though her emerald eyes did shine with some mischief, you could see she was earnest; this was your choice.
“Okay.” You whispered barely loud enough for you to hear yourself over the hammering of your heart.
“Yeah?” She whispered as she knelt in front of you.
“Yeah.” You agreed.
And you only got to see the soft, hopeful smile that adorned her lips for but a moment before her hands were on either side of your face and she was pressing her soft lips to yours.
It could have been hours or centuries but it was also all too soon before she was pulling away from you; a proud smile on her lips though her cheeks were a similar colour to her hair.
You became aware of the hooting and hollering going on around you as Remus’ chest began to vibrate in laughter.
“Beautiful.” He murmured - likely more to himself than to you, but you heard it all the same.
“Do I get a turn?!” James shouted before Sirius roughly grabbed him by the waist and planted him down on his lap.
“Not before me, Jamie.” He snickered as he shot you a wink.
The audacity of a man to still be so confident sitting in nothing but his boxers.
You tried to hide behind your hands though it was all for naught as Remus made a theatrical cooing sound and pulled you further into his lap until you were all but cradled in his arms.
“Maybe without an audience next time, hm?” He asked you as he brushed some hairs away from your forehead.
Not trusting yourself to speak (or to even make direct eye contact with the bloke currently cuddling you in your lap), you nodded with your face still hidden.
“Way to go babe.” James said as Lily went to join the two boys on their loveseat. “You were so good, we’ll even get a next time!”

Word Count: 900
Includes: SMUT, sub!reader x kinda soft!dom!lily, reader is obsessed with Lily's boobs- kinda perv!reader, dirty talk, teasing, reader has praise!kink & mommy!kink, multiple orgasms
A/N: Enjoy! First Lily smut I've done but I'm obsessed with her so let me know if you like it :]
Tumblr media
Younger you would be freaking out right now. Because Lily Evans is straddled on your lap, talking about her day and playing with your hair.
You've had a crush on Lils since the day you met her, but now, well now you have her, and you just can't get enough. You've fallen so deeply into infatuation with the girl that your cheeks heat even thinking about her.
Okay maybe you're freaking out right now too. But its different because you're older...and the sight of her bra-less tits directly level with your face evokes a very different heat to develop.
Everytime she shifts even a little, they move, and if you brush them ever so slightly on 'accident' her nipples harden. Soon all you can think about is kissing, sucking hickies and completely having your way with them. The pretty noises she'd make.
A slight tug on your hair brings you out of your sick and perverted daze, "Y/n, baby are you even listening to me?"
It takes everything in you to refrain from burying your head in her chest out of embarrassment. "M'sorry Lils, just distracted."
You see her irritation subside at your doe-eyed appearance, realizing the unintended torture she's been putting you through for the past ten minutes. "Aw princess, you feelin' subby for mommy?"
"Well - I want - cause- and you-" you cut yourself off by tugging harshly on the very thin, very see through white tank top she's unintentionally been teasing you with.
The movement provides enough stimulation to have Lily gasp, which leads to you hiding your heated face into her chest, mouthing sloppily at the top her pretty tits poking out of her tank now.
When she makes no further movements or demands you begin fall deeper into subspace. "M-Mommy please jus' wanna make you feel good!"
When you hear her moan quietly you take it as your sign to keep going, leaving hickies on her breasts and lower neck as you make your way to her lips. With the help of her guidance and tugs on your hair of course.
But before you can give her the kiss you've been waiting for she slips off her small and in your opinion, quite burdensome tank top, leaving you breathless and flustered as ever.
She has to bite her lip to stop herself from giggling at your zoned out expression. She's about to tease you about it when you attatch yourself to her left nipple, teasing the other with your fingers.
In the end all she can get out is a few praises. "Mmm-good girl, such a good girl, making mommy feel so good-"
You don't know how long you stay like that, only slightly registering the passing time as she begins to grind down on your thighs. Her mini skirt providing very little barrier between your jeans and her clothed cunt. You here her praises and demands that you help her go faster but, again you're so focused on her beautiful tits its not until she's come twice that you look up.
And even then when you do its cause she pulls back your head, causing you to whine, ordering you to pull off your shirt and pushing you so you lay flat on your back.
She makes quick work of stripping you of your jeans and panties, teasing your clit as soon as they're off, which makes all sort of profanities emit from your small mouth.
"You're so wet f'me princess, how long were you perving on mommy's tits? So dirty, my pretty girl."
Her words almost make you cum right there and then, barely touched and pathetic as ever. "I-I wasn't p-perving mommy, jus' needed you and mmph-"
Your pathetic excuse for in fact perving on your girlfriend is lost as she plunges two thick fingers into your pussy. "No? So if you weren't staring a mommy's tits, then you were listening right? What did mommy say?"
Your mind is so fuzzy you barley register she's asked you a question, until she pinches your clit to get your attention back. "I-I-you were talkin about mmmph-"
She's edging you with no mercy curling her fingers perfectly to hit your sweet spot and switching between playing with your clit with her other fan and sucking on it with her pretty lips. "What was that baby? About what?"
You throw your head back, arching your back as you get closer to your orgasm, moaning as she circles your little bud with her tongue. Your hands immediately grab on to her red locks, fighting between pushing her closer and pulling her away.
"About-ah-the t-test in Slughorns class- ah fuck! Needa cum, mommy,mommy-please let me cum! Please, please, please-"
Your begging is so cute, Lily is easily convinced to let you, bringing your to your end with her soft and dirty words. "Go ahead princess, cum on mommy's face, make a mess on my fingers, be a good girl, you can do it."
Your orgasm tumbles over you like a wave of pure pleasure, white and hot, with you screaming out her name and arching your back off the bed. You're still recovering as Lily sits you to straddle on her lap.
When you blearily open your eyes you're still facing her tits, due to your height difference. But this time you see a white iridescent and sticky substance smeared on them, and with a sudden realization you know exactly what she's done.
With a smirk on her face she orders you once again, not missing a beat:
"Go ahead baby, lick your cum off mommy's tits."

lily flicks the lights off before padding into bed beside you, sitting atop the flower-patterned sheets.
“goodnight, love,” you say, lacing your fingers with hers, attempting to pull her closer.
“y/n…” she meets your eyes and you understand, sitting up in your excitement. you gently push her down, back against the sheets, ginger hair propped against your pillows.
she groans as you undo her top. “sorry i’m asking again, it just hurts so much and i can’t find the pump anywhere.”
“don’t you dare apologize,” you say, peppering kisses against her now exposed breasts. her skin is pale and freckled, nipples erect. “i like it more than i should, probably.” you trail your kisses down, closer to her nipple.
pulling the pointed bud into your lips, you suck, milk spilling into your mouth. it’s thick and sweet, and it tastes like her.
you slip your hand into your underwear as you suck, folds wet and ready for the friction.
she moans as you continue, and you can tell she likes it too.
“taste so fucking good,” you mumble against her, sliding your lips over to the other nipple.
she whimpers as your lips attach to her, and you quicken the pace of your fingers.
you come just as all the milk is sucked out, and she pets your hair as you finish. you slide your tongue across her flesh, licking up all the residual milk.
“thank you, love,” she says, voice peppier than it was before.
you grin and stand up, heading to the bathroom.
“where are you going?”
“just gonna wash my hands.” something catches your eye as you step inside.
you poke your head back out the door, meeting lily’s eyes. “the breast pump is in here.”
she smiles guiltily, and you laugh when you realize she never really lost it at all.

Thanks lovely, hope you have a wonderful day as well <3
Lily Evans x whimsical!reader ♡ 916 words
You recognize the sound of Lily’s footfalls thumping dully on the dusty floors, so you don’t jump when a figure sits down beside you.
“Did you buy whiskey?” she asks. “You don’t even like whiskey.”
“It’s not for me.”
Your girlfriend hums, shuffling closer so her thigh is pressed against your knee where you have your legs crossed underneath you on the floor. In front of you is your candle, the flame flickering steadily, and your offering of the bottle of whiskey. Otherwise, the room is empty. “If you keep coming in here, eventually Michael’s going to figure it out and he’ll get a real lock put on the door.”
Michael is your landlord, of whom Lily is constantly wary because his first course of action is always threatening to kick tenants out (though as far as you know, he’s never actually done it).
“True,” you reply, “but don’t you think he’d appreciate it if I got the presence up here to quiet down? No one’s going to move in if it keeps making so much ruckus.”
Shortly after the last tenants had moved out, you’d started hearing noises in the unit above yours. Sometimes it’s a light clicking, sometimes a louder thump like something’s fallen, but every time you’ve come up here to check there’s been no evidence of things having moved around. The natural conclusion is that there’s been some disturbance in the spirit world that’s resulted in a new presence squatting here, and you like to make friends with your neighbors.
You know Lily’s a bit dubious of your theory, but your beliefs often differ from hers. She’s never made you feel like yours are any less valid.
“Are you sure that making friends with the ghost won’t make it more inclined to make more noise?” she asks.
“Mm, maybe,” you muse, “but I’d like to think that if they like me well enough, they’ll listen if I ask them to keep it down. At least at night, you know?”
Lily smiles, and the room warms in response. “Worth a try,” she agrees. “How long do you think you’re going to be tied up for? Dinner’s almost ready.”
“Not much longer. As soon as the candle burns out I just have to look at the shapes in the wax, and then I can go.”
“We’re going to have to clean up the wax stains before Michael discovers them too.” She leans over to kiss the side of your head, the soft curtain of her hair falling across your cheek, before sitting back on her heels and straightening up. “Alright, love, come down when you’re done.”
You hum in response, listening to the comforting cadence of her footsteps as they leave. But then there’s another sound with them. A quiet clicking.
You inhale softly as the flame of your candle flares slightly. “It’s here,” you breathe. “It’s listening.” Lily pauses in the doorway, and you clear your throat, trying to affect your voice to be calm and welcoming. “Hello? Can you communicate with us?”
The clicking continues. You think—hope, maybe—that it might be growing louder, but it’s difficult to say.
“Hello?” you try again. “We’re friendly, please don’t be afraid.”
“Sweetheart, I’m not sure…” Lily takes a few steps toward you, a bemused furrow between her brows. “It sounds like it’s coming from in there.”
She starts down the hall, and you follow hastily. She stops in front of a closed bedroom door, reaching behind her to grasp your arm cautiously. The clicking does sound louder here. Lily edges the door open quietly, peering inside.
“Oh.” The syllable stretches as if drawn out from between her lips, sweet as spun sugar. “Hello, darling.”
She lets the door fall the rest of the way open, dropping into a crouch. Over her, you can see the empty, dusty room, rich light from the setting sun streaming through the windows, and a small white kitten frozen warily in the middle of the floor.
Lily reaches out a hand, making quiet little tsking noises with her tongue, but you step right over her and gather the kitten in your arms.
“Hi there,” you say. “Is it you making ruckus every night?”
Lily laughs, rising from her crouch to come stand by your shoulder. “It’s so unfair how they always come to you,” she complains fondly. “I try so hard.”
You hum noncommittally. It’s true, animals love you. You scratch the side of the kitten’s face, smiling when it purrs.
Your girlfriend smiles too. “So you’re our ghost, hm?” she coos, stroking a knuckle down its belly. “Sorry you didn’t get your chance to make friends with someone from the afterlife, sweetheart.”
“That’s alright,” you say. “This may be more rewarding anyway. You can’t pet ghosts.”
Lily laughs, dropping a kiss on your shoulder. “No, I don’t suppose you can. Do you want to keep her?”
You look at her in surprise. “Could we? Michael wouldn’t be happy.”
She shrugs a shoulder, green eyes flashing with challenge. “There are some things worth incurring Michael’s wrath, I think.”
You beam, looking down at the nearly sleeping kitten cradled in your arm. “Yeah.”
“Come on.” Lily gives you a nudge, starting back out into the hall. “Our dinner’s going to burn, and I think we have tuna in the pantry to hold this one over until we can get to the store.”
“Can we name her Ghost?” you ask, following her out.
“Oh, I don’t think we have a choice.”

━━ ✦ pairing(s): marauders, lily, marlene and regulus x fem! reader
━━ ✦ warning: kissing
━━ ✦ word count: 1.3k
author's note: lets just pretend they have a high tolerance or theyre a lil affected by it cuz i forgot to write it down there 😭. btw sirius and reggie r on good terms here and also — ITS DANE DEEHAN'S PETER AND I CANNOT NOT ADD HIM WHEN HE'S HOT 😭😭😭😭
Tumblr media
THE MARAUDERS, a few other friends, and you gathered in the common room, forming a circle for a muggle game Lily called "Never Have I Ever." The concept piqued your interest; it was something entirely new to you and sounded like you would have a good time especially when you heard how the game works.
But before that you, Sirius, Peter, and Lily went to the kitchens to take some snacks, glasses, and a few bottles of firewhisky for this and went back to the common room where the others were waiting and circled.
Lily initiated the round, her eyes scanning each person in the circle. "Never have I ever," she began, a mischievous glint in her eyes, "tasted the poop flavor in Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans." Laughter erupted as James, Remus, and a few others reached for the firewhisky and took a drink. Sirius and you couldn't help but burst into laughter too, sympathizing with their unfortunate experiences.
"It was bloody awful! Feels like I was gobbling up Pads' poop by mistake." James wrinkled his nose, wincing as the firewhisky blazed its way down his throat. Sirius burst into laughter, but his chuckles abruptly halted as James' comment hit his ears and you choked on your saliva. With a flushed face, Sirius playfully smacked James on the back, eliciting a groan from him. "Fuck."
The empty glasses clinked as they were refilled, the game continuing with fervor. Seated next to Lily, Marlene was thinking of what to ask. "Never have I ever lost my chocolate frog and found it in front of a teacher." Peter drank his firewhisky.
"I remember this!" You exclaimed with a chuckle, clutching a treacle tart. "Peter lost his chocolate frog while going inside the castle from Hogsmeade and tried to go after it only for it to end up in Professor McGonagall's palms. Then, she gave it to Peter and Peter ate it after brushing the dirt away."
Remus took his turn, a playful glint in his eyes. "Never have I ever been caught by Filch while out of bed after curfew." The Marauders, excluding Remus and including you, raised their glasses to their lips, taking hearty swigs of firewhisky.
Lily's eyebrows arched curiously, her gaze shifting toward you. "Even you, Y/N?" You shrugged with a sheepish grin, caught in the act. "What were you up to?"
You intended to avoid the question, but Marlene piped up, unable to resist the urge to share, "Oh, it's either she's setting up pranks with them," She gestured towards the infamous Black and Potter duo, who responded with knowing smirks, "Or she's engaged in some secret snogging rendezvous with Black."
"Which Black are we talking about here?" You countered mischievously, casting an amused glance at both brothers.
"Both," Marlene replied with an air of nonchalance, earning a round of chuckles from the group, a coughing Regulus, and a shock i-don't-know-what-to-say-i-feel-betrayed Sirius.
The blonde female had frequently stumbled upon them in rather compromising situations. On various occasions, it happened to be you and Regulus emerging from a cupboard, catching Marlene on her way to class. The sight of you and the younger boy with tousled hair, swollen lips, and flushed cheeks was hard to miss. Marlene also vividly remembered the time she stumbled upon you and Sirius, who were well on their way to shagging, both only partially clothed and entangled on the bed. Fortunately — for Marlene's case — she barged in before all the rest of their garments were thrown on the floor and preventing further embarrassment.
Honestly, who could really blame her? It wasn't her decision to conduct such activities within a shared dorm room, where other roommates also resided.
Marlene's cheeks heated as memories replayed in her mind. She shook her head, murmuring, "It's a traumatic experience."
Seated between you and Remus, Sirius wore a knowing smirk, mischief glinting in his eyes. Your heart fluttered as you felt a tinge of nervousness, his transparent mischievousness making you uneasy. "Never…" He began, his words causing a slight stumble in your breath as he continued, "have I ever kissed Y/N." Once more, you found yourself momentarily taken aback, a surprised reaction escaping you.
Sirius' gaze swept across the group, his smirk growing as he met each person's eyes, enjoying their reactions. With a feeling of delightfulness, he snatched the bottle of firewhisky and took a victorious swig. Nearby, Regulus raised an eyebrow, his amusement detached yet evident, as he took a casual sip of his own firewhisky. "Just u—" He began, his sentence left hanging in the air, a smirk curving his lips.
Lily roll her eyes and playfully retort, "Trying to embarrass everyone now, are we? Well, I can't say I'm surprised. Cheers to your boldness, I suppose." She then took a sip of her firewhisky, shaking her head with a mix of amusement and annoyance at Sirius' antics.
"Wait a second — everyone?" Sirius exclaimed, his tone a mix of disbelief and amusement. Marlene couldn't contain herself and erupted into laughter, finding the situation utterly comical. With a gleeful grin, she grabbed the firewhisky and took a big gulp. "Even McKinnon? Seriously, Y/N, how did you do it?" Sirius continued, his smirk growing wider.
Observing the scene, Remus couldn't help but roll his eyes playfully, his expression a blend of exasperation and fondness. He reached for his firewhisky and took a measured sip, his gaze briefly locking with yours.
You nonchalantly replied. "She was asking me to teach her how to kiss — who am I to refuse?" Peter let out a nervous chuckle and take a small sip of firewhisky.
As Sirius noticed the sip Peter took, his eyebrows arched mischievously. He glanced at you and exchanged an amused look with Lily. Lily, her curiosity piqued, raised an eyebrow and inquired, "Even Peter?" Her surprise was evident, the corners of her lips twitching in a mixture of astonishment and amusement.
All eyes turned to James, who met their gaze with an intrigued quirk of his eyebrow. His gaze then shifted to you, his lips curling into a mischievous grin as he leaned back in his chair. "Looks like I've fallen a bit behind, haven't I?" he mused, a glint of determination lighting up his eyes.
In a flash, he rose from his seat, a confident swagger in his step as he dropped down to one knee in front of you. His presence felt magnetic as he leaned closer, his hand gently cupping your cheek, and before you could fully process the moment, his lips met yours in a quick, playful kiss.
The room was filled with a collective gasp as all eyes turned to both of you as James pulled back, a triumphant smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. James then took the bottle of firewhisky from Sirius and chugged the remaining liquid down.
A mixture of shock, amusement, and admiration swept across their faces. Lily's jaw dropped slightly and twitching into an amused smile. Remus's eyebrows shot up, his usual composed demeanor momentarily replaced by astonishment. Sirius's playful grin widened into genuine surprise, and even Peter seemed momentarily stunned, his mouth hanging open. Marlene let out an excited whoop, her surprise quickly turning into enthusiastic cheers. Regulus raised an eyebrow, a subtle flicker of being taken aback swept across his features.
James' smirk softened into a warm grin as he glanced at you, his eyes locking onto yours for a heartbeat before he turned back to the others. "Honestly, Prongs." You stated recovering from your surprised state with a fond smile tugging on your lips.
A mischievous glint danced in Marlene's eyes as she playfully nudged Sirius with her elbow. "Seems like you're not the only one stealing the show tonight, Black."
A warm chuckle rumbled from Remus as he shook his head, a genuine fondness reflecting in his gaze. "You've outdone yourself, Prongs."
Even Regulus's typically stoic expression softened, a subtle twitch at the corner of his mouth betraying his amusement. "Quite the move," he conceded.

+1
Remus Lupin makes you feel different, not yourself, per se. Around him, you become soft and reserved. It’s rare you have a conversation anyway— for you never really talk to him, or spend heaps of time around him. Lily is friends with him and you’re friends with Lily, so by extension he is your good friend too.
He is prettier than you and so kind, always with a cuddly quarter zip on or a fuzzy sweater. Sometimes he looks at you like he might kiss you, but you’ve seen him with other people and he looks at them the same, dark lashes nearly touching.
Remus has been told that he’s soft, all his life. There’s a steadiness gleaming from his kind honey-brown eyes, and a certain gentlemanly way to his neat strands of light brown hair. There’s gentle written all over him, and he always has a sweater on in the colder seasons. He always looks quiet, and he always is quiet, preferring to leave the talking to Sirius or James. Remus is everything consistent and everything mellow. A little mystery is woven into the way he does everything too. It makes him elusive, more interesting.
Mostly, he begs to differ. If you really get to know him, he swears like a sailor and is scarred like one too. His humour is snarky and sometimes crude. But he guesses that other people might be right, because he forgives too easily and loves too hard.
Especially as you’re alone at breakfast, sitting at your place down the table and playing with your food. You look a bit distraught, he thinks. Where’s Lily? And everyone else? You clatter down your fork because everything looks unappetising. Even the delicacies the house-elves prepare so painstakingly look dull and dreadful.
Remus notices your self-deprecating expression as a Slytherin girl passes by you and waves. She looks at you inquisitively and you respond with a small smile that is the furthest thing from genuine. She leaves with an arm hooked into her boyfriend’s, both looking worried for you. As she passes where Remus and the other Marauders are sitting, Remus can hear tid-bits of dialogue.
“Poor thing,” she says.
Remus decides you’re definitely not okay when even Sirius hums, “L/n isn’t looking too well today.”
You’re talking to Professor McGonagall now, a more amused smile on your face as you joke with her. But when she leaves you return to looking downtrodden and when you push your plate forward and start to get up from your seat, your eyes look empty. It’s when you hurry past him that he decides that he should go after you.
Fast taps against the tiles of the hallways alarm you. You turn and there’s Remus, long legs gaining mileage on you. He reaches you and you step to the side to let him go past. You’re confused when he stops before you. His eyes flicker down to yours and they’re filled with concern.
“Hey,” he breathes.
“Hi,” you smile politely and it doesn’t quite reach your eyes. Remus hates it.
“I’m sorry if this comes off weird or creepy, but I couldn’t help but notice that you don’t look very happy,” he says quietly.
You laugh. Again, it doesn’t sound right. It sounds forced and stuffy, “It’s not weird and I’m fine.”
“Where are your friends?” he asks, gently.
You shrug. It’s heavy enough that Remus can tell that you care a lot.
“They’re all gone?”
“I heard them early in the morning,” you say, nodding slowly.
“Are you okay then?”
No. You had heard all the girls in the dorm giggling as they got ready at six in the morning, tippy-toeing around your bed. When you peeked an eye open, feigning slumber, Lily was wearing one of her date night dresses, a pretty sun-dress that was only used for picnics. Trixie from Hufflepuff was there, and so was Olive. You squeezed your eyes shut and when they were all gone you noticed the picnic basket was missing. Dread pooled in your stomach and you tried in all your might to believe that they went for a date or were going to come back up to invite you. You thudded down the stairs and asked a first year sitting by the portrait about them.
“They were talking about a big group date,” she swung her legs, “Something about a park.”
You had smiled, “Thanks.”
You look at Remus, “Yeah.” But your voice breaks embarrassingly midway and your tired, disappointed mood starts to wear through. It’s impossible to put up a front in front of Remus, who’s gazing at you in such a fret. But he’s Lily’s friend and Lily surely had her reasons to not invite you. After all, you have your problems. It makes sense that it’s probably your fault and Remus deserves not to know.
Remus tries to gauge the problem out of you- wheedle it and make it clear that he does care. Somewhere in your half-hearted smiles he’s developed a crush on you because he thinks your attempts to make him less worried are so sweet.
But you simply shake your head every time he wants to know what’s wrong and ignore that he’s very close and very handsome.
You set off to your dormitory, but realise that you don’t really want to be there. Remus can tell from the conflicted look in your face.
“I’ll sit with you in the common room and you can please, please tell me what’s wrong. I want to help.”
He says it so earnestly that you nod, “Okay.”
“I woke up this morning and they were all getting ready for something, with the hair curler and dresses. That means going out, usually. And Lily was wearing her picnic dress, the one with little flowers on it. I heard them giggling as they all went out and I thought maybe they’ll come back for me. But when I sat up there wasn’t anyone in their beds and the picnic basket was gone. I didn’t know what had happened so I went downstairs to ask this first-year and she said they were going on a group trip, plus James.
“I feel so left out,” your bottom lip wobbles, “Because if this was a one time thing, I wouldn’t feel so bad, but they do this all the time. And I’m tired of constantly trying to join them when they haven’t even invited me in the first place. Every time they hang out they never think of me. I mean, they invited Trixie and Olive, and I wish I could say I’m closer to them than Trixie and Olive but I don’t think that’s true anymore. Every time. I’m sick of trying to take the initiative to make plans, and if I don’t they never think about me.
“In the holidays, they all went out to see this movie, and I get it, they all live near each other but they invited Hannah from Slytherin and not a word to me,” Remus’ heart pangs a little bit hearing your trembling tone, “It was only when I wrote to them asking if they wanted to see it with me that Lily said she had already seen it and so had Mary and Dorcas and everyone else. Okay, I accepted it, I did, and said we could go to the art gallery but no one replied.
“I tie my shoelaces and they never wait for me, but when they tie their shoelaces suddenly I have to be there, no matter what. And I can’t ever hang out with two of them because the others feel ostracised, even though they always leave me out. Lily gives me strange looks when I chat to Dorcas for more than 3 minutes straight. Once we were talking about volunteering for a charity and she looked back at me as if I was neglecting her, accusatorily. I wasn’t going to volunteer with Dorcas anyway, she lives in the Highlands. But then she can go and wrap gifts with Mary at the mall and not invite me,” your voice wavers.
“I know it’s small, but it hurts so much. The worst thing is that I’m the problem here. There has to be a reason why they never invite me and I don’t know what it is. I try to be a perfect friend and I always wait for them when they pack their bags at Potions even if everyone else is leaving. I don’t get it and it’s bothering me,” you cry out, eyes watering.
Remus wants to cry too seeing you cry, “Oh, darling.”
“I don’t understand what is wrong with me,” you despair, “I might not be the prettiest thing in the world, but I try,” voice cracking.
He needs to have a word with Lily, he thinks.
“There’s nothing wrong with you, gorgeous,” he murmurs, “Don’t blame yourself.”
“But there is. They’re really nice people, why can’t I see it?”
“Maybe they’re not nice people,” he offers.
“Don’t say that,” you whisper, “Lily’s dating James. Mary’s dating Peter. Dorcas is in your bookclub.”
“Well, love, they’re not very nice to you. And no she’s not, far from it actually, no he’s not, they split, and no, she left.”
“Guess I need a life update then.”
“Why don’t you talk to them about it?”
You murmur, “I hate confrontation and why would they change just because I told them to? I’m scared, Rem.”
“I get it, beautiful. You can sit with me and Peter and James and Sirius and Marlene and Queenie and Jolene at lunchtimes and whenever you want.”
He’s so good, he doesn’t ask any questions or push you. Your teary eyes gaze up at him in wonder and admiration and no one’s ever looked at him like you do now. Here he goes again, loving too hard.
“Really? I wouldn’t be intruding?”
“Never, lovely.”
You surge and hug him, which catches him by surprise but he melts into it. It’s the nicest hug he’s been given, ever. He doesn’t get many as a guy, and usually they’re half-hearted and rough, but yours is grateful and warm. He’s all red and flustered after it but he doesn’t think you notice and you don’t.
“We’re about to head to Hogsmeade, you wanna join us?”
You think about it, “After I get these tears off my face.” You hurry up the stairs before he can say a word.
“Nice going, Moons,” Sirius barges in from wherever he was hiding in the first place, hair slightly dishevelled, “You got some chocolate? I didn’t finish breakfast trying to stealthily tail you both up the stairs.”
+2
“He is just so delicious,” Mary sighs. You laugh, “Who, Peter?”
“Oh not Peter. Remus Lupin.”
You smile. Delicious.
“Pfft, Peter. I only dated him to get closer to Remus.”
Your smile turns into something that’s unsettled, but she’s too busy ‘ooh’ing and ‘ahh’ing over his “washboard abs” to see you, even though he’s got an ungodly amount of layers on.
“Speaking of, I think I have a crush on him!” she squeals and you smile again, kind of creeped out by her behaviour. You’re sure you’re just too sensitive about these things, “Will you introduce me?”
“Sure,” you lead her to where Remus is reading the paper. He looks up and he doesn’t give anything away. He's a mystery when he’s not too busy being soft. In reality, he can feel his heart start to speed up and his cheeks warm.
“Hey, he’s blushing,” Mary whispers. Although it’s loud, Remus can hear it and feels self-conscious.
You whisper back, “Shhh, I’m sure he’s not. Hi Remus.”
Remus nods at you, “Morning.”
“Oh he says morning, what a cutie,” Mary giggles and you giggle too, though Remus hears the strain your voice is in.
“Remus, meet Mary Macdonald. She’s my friend. Mary, meet Remus.”
Hm. Remus thinks, remembering to be polite. He should give her the benefit of the doubt. He extends a hand, “Hello Mary.”
You watch their interaction, spiking a little bit of disappointment in you. Is it at Mary paying more attention to Remus than you (and rightly so, you think. If you were that pretty you’d have people clawing at your feet too.) or because Remus might like Mary?
You miss how Mary looks at Remus hungrily. He swallows, uncomfortable, looking towards you and grimacing. You nod, a minute dip of your head, and carefully pry Mary away from him.
“C’mon Mary, you promised to drop me off at my class.”
She studies her nails, “Actually, I need to go to the bathroom. You think you’d be okay with going alone?”
It’s not really a question, and your face falls. You walk alone. Remus has just witnessed Mary lying, because instead of turning three halls down to the left and turning to the right one hall down, she begins to flirt with him. It sours his opinion of her.
“You free this Saturday?”
He shakes his head, “Nope.”
“Next Saturday?”
“Nah.”
She sighs, “Handsome, let’s not play hard to get.”
He shrugs, “I’m not.”
“Why won’t you?”
Remus isn’t brutal enough to tell her the real truth, which is that he hasn’t heard good things about her. So he says, “I’m not interested and you dated my friend and broke his heart,” which is pretty accurate in itself.
“Enigmatic.”
He sighs, returning to his paper.
A few hours later, you’re confronted with an awful truth as Remus sits peacefully opposite you reading a book. He’s in pure bliss as his eyes skim the page and his fingertips brush the edges of the paper. His hair flops in front of his eyes and you resist the urge to touch it. There’s a little smile on his lips.
You like Remus a lot, and you can’t, because Mary likes him. It feels forbidden, and you can’t imagine how Mary would react. Friends didn’t like other friends’ crushes, they stayed a comfortable distance away from them. Rule 2 in the book. And Mary brings it up at night.
“Say, Y/n, would you mind not being so close to Remus?”
You’re finishing up a Transfiguration essay and look at her, caught off guard.
“I’m not actually that close with him,” you laugh, “At least not romantically.”
She narrows her eyes, “Yeah, I know that. As if he would ever be romantic.” with you, she means.
You’re silent, ignoring her dig at you. This is a critical part of how to be a good friend. You don’t want to ruin Mary’s ventures with Remus but you really like him, both platonically and romantically.
“Could you back off? I know you both are friends and whatever but I need this.”
You chew on your lip. It’s a shame, because you did like him and Peter and Sirius and James and Marlene and Jolene and Queenie. You still want to be friends with him. But Mary has a jealous streak and you’ve seen the girls who she’s left torn and beaten.
“I don’t think I’ll ruin your chances, Mary.”
“Neither do I,” she says harshly.
You’re struck by her sudden tone. It’s curt, snappy and it’s loud. It hurts. You immediately find the tears swarm in your eyes. So you startle, “I forgot, I need to go find Marlene to get some advice on the essay.”
“Since when have you known Marlene Mckinnon?”
You leave, tears flowing as you furiously wipe them away. Remus is downstairs with Sirius, and Sirius is begging for chocolate for some reason. You catch his eye. He immediately calls to you, but you pretend to not hear. You can’t hang out with him anymore. You hurry down to the Prefect bathroom. It’s always empty there.
You sit down by the bath, pacing out your breaths. Soon you calm down, and when you have the energy to look around you, you see Remus leaning against the door. There’s a crease between his brow.
“Rem, I can’t be near you much anymore,” you blink at him, “This won’t be a surprise to you but Mary really likes you. I don’t want her to be uncomfortable, or think I’m trying to steal you from her.”
Remus’ frown only deepens, as you refuse to meet his eyes. He hooks his fingers under your chin and lifts your head up.
“Aren’t you?” he grins. He thinks if he’s going to want you he might as well want you right.
You bring your hands to his and you gently take them away, patting his hand, “Don’t. Even if I’m friends with you, it’s too friendly for Mary.”
“Honey, you don’t need to do what Mary says.”
“It’s not what Mary says. It’s Rule 2 in the book.”
He laughs, “Rule 2 in the book. And what’s Rule 1?”
“Never leave your girls hanging for boys. I feel like I’ve betrayed her.”
“Well, you can always hang with the others, right?”
You nod, “Well see. I’ll see you around?”
His eyes are filled with something unreadable and mysterious. He wants to be with you, so badly, he wants imploringly to show you what you mean to him. But he nods, he understands, and pecks you on the cheek. “Remus!” you admonish. He’s smirking away, the last you see of him is the imprints of a shy smile, latent and alluring.
You smile, feeling bitter as you tell Mary, “I’ll leave Lupin alone, Mary.”
She flickers her eyes up at you, “I didn’t think you weren’t going to.” She looks bored, and you feel nothing but disappointment.
+3
“Wait up, Lily!” You call. You wish you didn’t need to, but you guess that you’re forgettable.
She stops, a little disgruntled.
“What’s got you so excited for today?” You ask her, slinging your bag over your shoulder.
“Well, certainly not Potter going to ask me out and me to reject him. He hasn’t in a while, so that’s been a relief.”
You laugh, “Are you missing it?”
“Never.”
“Don’t you think rejecting him that harshly is a little sad?”
It’s true. He’s nothing but nice in his advances. All he does is give her flowers, most of the time he doesn’t say anything but frown when Lily pushes the flowers roughly back into his grasp, and leaves disappointedly. He’s been doing this for only a little while, and he looks less and less infatuated with Lily each time. Once she turned to you smugly, and you raised your eyebrows.
“Must be nice having no guys pestering you for attention,” she had told you.
You had cheerfully agreed with her, but inside you were heartbroken.
Lily enters the hall, an expectant look on her face. Instead of James waiting by the big door, he’s eating, no flowers or chocolates in sight. Remus turns and gives you the tiniest smile. You give him a sympathetic one.
“Huh. No flowers.”
You stay quiet. If you say something, it’ll come out berating or pathetic to Lily. Maybe if she didn’t always brutally dismiss him or flame him to no ends, he might continue, but isn’t this what she wanted?
You talk to Queenie, who pouts, “Can’t tell you, sorry Y/n.”
You’ve seen James with Regulus, the latter denying his love though not like Lily had. It’s accepted and Regulus returns the affections, though in his own cold way. James looks happy whenever he’s with Regulus.
Lily calls to James, “Potter, I didn’t see you water the plants today.”
James shrugs, “Okay, Evans. They’re watered. I got someone to do it. Someone much more competent than me.”
At that he winks at Regulus, who goes red and smiles tenderly. Sirius rolls his eyes, whispering to James, “Oi, eyes off my brother or you won’t have eyes at all tomorrow.”
Lily’s curt all day long, and snippy. You don’t dare to say a word to her and tippy toe endlessly after she scowls at you for asking if she wants some hot chocolate.
At the end of the day when you’ve come back with accompanying Dorcas to the Potions storeroom and three of the girls come surging, whisking Lily away but never offering you with the same warmth. At the end, you quietly slip away from the group. You have this harrowing feeling you don’t actually belong with them. No one notices and you press your lips together.
“Girl’s night!!” Dorcas yells.
There’s only a little more to go till you graduate and you’re officially able to leave the dormitory. Maybe they aren’t so good for you. You just wish you could be included more, cherished. What if I don’t deserve to be cherished? The question swirls in your mind, distressing you. When you bump into Marlene near the quidditch field, trucking down from practice, she sets down her broomstick and takes off her gloves.
“Don’t see you here often, darl,” she sits next to you, “You’re in the firing zone of Sirius’ wild bludgers, by the way.”
Sirius is hovering above, hitting bludgers fiercely. One zooms past your shoulder, only because Marlene nudges her broomstick to the bludger. You barely flinch.
“Hey. Are you okay?”
You look at her, “Yeah, I’m good. Just wanted to get some fresh air.”
“At 8 in the night? Where are your friends?”
You feel so vulnerable right now. “I’m- I’m with you. You’re my friend.”
“I know. Okay,” Marlene thinks for a second, “Where are your dorm mates?”
You sob, “They’re having a girl’s night.”
“Without you?”
“I…” To be truthful, you don’t know where you are with your friends. It makes you even more emotional. You feel tears well up in your eyes. Marlene makes a strained noise and you see she’s crying too.
“Oh, don’t make me cry too,” she sobs, “I can’t handle emotions.”
Sirius notices, and nearly gets taken over by a bludger. “Moony,” he shouts, “We’ve got a problem.”
“We’ve or you’ve?” Remus asks dryly from the sidelines.
“You’ve. Not I’ve but you’ve,” Sirius points to where both you and Marlene are sobbing together.
“I’m only one man, there are two of them,” Remus looks at Sirius meaningfully.
“Fine.”
“Which one do you want?”
“Marlene.”
Sirius flies over to Marlene, mounting his broomstick.
“Marlene, you good?” He crouches down on the grass.
She glares at him, tearily, “Do I look okay to you, Black?”
“Right, well, why are you sad?” Sirius has the tact of a three year old although Marlene’s too busy crying to care.
Marlene points at you, “She’s sad, so I’m sad.”
Sirius hops up, and pats the incoming Remus on the back. “They’re all yours, Buster.”
Remus sits down next to you, “You know, there’s a cloud over there that looks like James.”
It really doesn’t, it’s night and you can’t see much. But it makes you huff a laugh out. Remus relaxes. Marlene stops crying.
“It’s pitch black, idiot,” she grins.
He smiles boyishly.
“Marlene?” you peek up at her, still halfway to dry eyes.
“Mm?”
“Can I stay at your dorm for the night? I don’t really feel like going back to mine.”
“Sure. Okay, I need a shower. I can’t be hugging you all stinky and sweaty.”
“You smell great,” you smile at her.
“Thanks.”
“No problemo.”
You turn to Remus, “Shuffle over some ten centimetres please. For Mary.”
“Mary’s having a girl’s night without you, sweet thing, does she really matter?” Remus moves nonetheless.
“Yeah,” you hiccup, “I want to be a good friend.”
He doesn’t question you and leaves it at that.
Marlene comes out, drying her hair with a towel.
“Are we good to go?”
“Yeah!”
“C’mon.”
You look back, “Bye Remus!”
He’s smiling so softly your heart thuds. It’s the prettiest smile you’ve ever seen. You wonder what he’s thinking about.
He’s thinking about you. Sweet weeping soul.

The scene’s set. It’s a sweeping plain overlooking the rest of Hogwarts, symbolic and gradual. This is where you’ll graduate. It’s bitter, but you’re mostly ready to move on from school. Of course, you’ll miss days spent with fellow students and the teachers, and the school grounds where you spent so much time laughing and loving, but you think you’re okay with going solo. You haven’t worked out where you’ll be staying, there’s still ten weeks left in the school year where seventh years hang around aimlessly and try to soak up as much of Hogwarts as they can. But you know if you don’t find a place to stay, you can always bunk with your parents.
You already find yourself shedding tears, as you go up to give a speech. After the procession, McGonagall calls you over.
“Oh darling,” she cries, mascara muddied from her watery eyes, “I’ll miss you so much. Thank you for being such a good student. Have you got a place to stay? A job? I’ll always be open to giving you the Transfiguration professor role so I can focus on being Deputy Headmaster.”
You laugh, “Professor-”
“Please, we’re both adults now. Minerva, or Minnie, or Mins, or Nerve.”
“Nerve?!”
“Sirius Black does have some calling me that.”
Both of you let out watery chuckles.
“Minnie, thank you so much for being my Professor,” you wipe the corner of your eye, “Oh I have to do this eleven more times. You know, I’ve learnt so much from you and you’re just a dear. I can’t believe I’m leaving this place, forever. Not yet, and yes, I applied for a position in the Ministry.”
“Don’t forget Hogwarts. Please visit, weekly.”
“I will, and I won’t forget about that Transfiguration job.”
“Please, remember it, you always had a competence for most things you did. Even Magical Music, which I remember you saying you hated, despised, loathed, and were terrible at, but Professor Quavers thought you were a very capable student.”
“Minnie,” you weep into her shoulder, hugging her, “Please remember me.”
“I couldn’t ever forget you,” she leans to whisper, “You are one of my favourite students.”
It makes you cry even harder. In the end, you take a picture with her and exchange emails, phone lines, addresses. She hands you an envelope, which later you learn encloses automatic recommendation letters and some gift cards.
This is done eleven times more, teachers bestowing you with gifts and promises of communication. By the end, your hands are full and you put the things in your bag by your chair, going to join Lily, Dorcas, Mary, Alice in taking photos. Mary’s voice shouts, “I still like Remus Lupin!”
“Cheers to the new apartment!” Dorcas’ father says, “What beautiful girls.”
You freeze. They had an apartment planned and ready? Maybe you’re ready to leave your friends. You turn away, crying more when you see Queenie.
She beckons you over, “Come take photos with us.”
You smile. Everyone huddles close. Remus is beside you, all wily and eyes sparkling with tears. “You alright, darling?”
“I’ll miss you, Rem. You know I haven’t really gotten to talk to you much, but you’ve been nothing but wonderful to me.”
“Ask her!” Jolene hisses.
“Right, so, I, we, the guys and the girls, are going to rent apartments with each other. Do you want to join us?”
You’re starstruck. You start crying in his arms, and he looks very concerned.
“I’m sorry, I just can’t keep them in. Of course I want to join you, you guys are amazing.”
“Sweetness…” he wipes your eyes with a handkerchief he has yet to use.
“Remus, Mary, remember? She still likes you. I know you’re only doing this as friends and she does too, but she doesn’t like people hanging around…” you meet his eyes.
He looks at you again in that unreadable way and you don’t know what to do. Sirius is quietly taking pictures of you two with his expensive camera. He likes the way Remus looks at you and the way you don’t seem to know what it means. Fine photography. Would make an excellent engagement gift. I'm so smart. He flips the camera. And so handsome.
"Get a load of you," James scoffs.

You haven’t watched Mean Girls yet. Queenie finds that astounding, and so everyone must attend the movie marathon she holds. You hang your coat up on the rack, stepping out of your shoes and sighing.
“How was work?” Marlene asks.
“That question makes me feel so old,” you huff, cracking your joints, “It was so-so. Marcus tried to harass Heron into getting Jerome out of the project that he and Heather are working on.”
“Oh really. That mother-”
“Evening!” Sirius barges into the apartment, wearing his suit, “Did you know, Marcus was-”
“Harassing Heron into getting Jerome out of the project that he and Heather are working on,” you finish, “How does the public relations sector know that?”
“We do have excellent public relations.”
“Where’s James?”
“He’s picking up Regulus.”
“Awh,” you coo.
“I wish James had a sibling so I could date them too,” Sirius grouches.
“Don’t be like that, Pads,” Peter strides to the fridge, kissing Jolene on the cheek and grabbing a can of kombucha, “They’re so good together.”
“Good my a-”
“Language!” Marlene calls.
Someone knocks on the door. You open it and Remus is standing, stretching. A little strip of skin shows as his shirt lifts. His top button is undone and he looks tired. But he still looks at you the same, red on his cheeks and red lips turning up. I can’t be loving him like this, you think, it’s overwhelming.
“Hey,” you open the door.
He smiles at you, “Doing well, honey?” He doesn’t say much at all, but when he does it’s always followed by a “beautiful” or “pretty” or “doll”.
A chorus of greetings come from around the television. He nods, turning back to you, “I gave exams back today. Talked my quota full.”
Beaming at him, you hand him a bowl of popcorn, “We’re fine with it. You speak as much as you want.”
He smiles at you again. He’s doing a lot of that. But then again, he’s always like this when he’s tired. At a bar, he’ll be tilting his head, smiling at you through fatigued eyes, begging James to go home. When he’s up grading papers, he’ll be smiling at you, the same melting eyes and lashes nearly touching. And you always say, “How much of your soul did you trade to the devil for those lashes?”
He never gets it, and he says, “Comes with the beard I need to shave off every morning.”
You’re snapped back by a slamming of the door as James comes in with Regulus.
He’s right– he doesn’t talk much, just sitting back on the sofa, observing and listening. He watches you most of the time, and he sees when you’re about to cry. Your breathing gets unsteady and eyes start finding anything else to look at. You tremble as you reach for popcorn, and excuse yourself multiple times, and you manage to stop crying mostly. None of your friends notice much, too busy yelling at the screen, but he does.
You start bawling when Regina’s influence over the rest of the girls vanishes, and Remus immediately turns to you, leading you across the hall.
“I’m so sorry,” you ramble, “Why is it that I’m always crying when I see you?”
Remus doesn’t mind– he likes that you feel comfortable enough to be vulnerable around him.
“It’s just that– that movie reminded me so much of my old friends and it’s all too overwhelming thinking about them. I mean, they haven’t called, I don’t know where they live and I’m so grateful but also I feel so bad about it.”
“Hey, it’s okay. They didn’t deserve you.”
“I know, but the movie hit so close to home, Rem. I’m so glad to have you.”
Remus pretends that by ‘you’, you mean him, knowing it means the whole group of them.
You sob quietly, bundling his shirt into your hands. He lets you, and he’s quiet about it. You’re a sweet weeping soul, rendered that by your ex-friends. But he wants you so much.
+1
“Good news,” you announce, going into Remus’ apartment to recite to him what you had just read in your weekly mail, “McGonagall got a dog, his name is Hubert and he’s a border collie. Also, Mary has a boyfriend.”
You had had to write to Mary to tell her you were moving across the corridor from Remus. She hadn’t replied. None of your friends had bothered to ask where you would stay. You had decided those friendships were over. Still, you kept a friendly distance from Remus. You had only known she’s gotten a boyfriend when the boy himself wrote to you asking you for your blessing. You had written back, telling him that you and Mary were no longer friends, but nonetheless that you wished them well. It was a sign that you were truly over it.
You’re searching through his apartment, when you hear quiet sniffles coming from his room. You knock, then enter. Your heart aches as you see Remus leaning against the wall, crying.
“Rem…”
“Go away,” he mutters, muffled.
“Remus.”
“Oh.” he doesn’t lift his head to look at you. You sit next to him on the floor.
“What happened?”
“I like this girl.”
You try to fight your own disappointment back, and smile, though it’s warped.
“Yeah?”
“There’s no way in hell she likes me back. I mean I’ve done everything to show her I do. I’ve called her pet names, tried to be charming, hell, I’ve even flirted.”
The disappointment is winning.
“And I get it, because I’m all gnarly. But it hurts.”
He continues, “And she’s…perfect. Like, really beautiful. She’s kind, so charming, so empathetic and she has the prettiest smile.”
You pretend you’re glad for him. You’re really not. You want to leave, maybe he’ll stop talking about her. But you still listen, because you do care. As much as it hurts you to know he likes another girl, it also hurts you to know he’s sad. Lovely, caring Remus, with his shyness and comfortable silences.
“She’s really everything to me, and I don’t think I’m much to her.”
“Don’t say things like that, Remus,” you begin, “You’re a great guy, and any girl would be lucky to have you, especially her.” The words don’t sit quite right, they feel sour on your tongue.
“I’m not good enough for her.”
The words crush you, and you frown.
“Hey!” you snap, “Remus John Lupin, you are so good, and so kind. I can’t bear to hear you badmouth yourself like this. You are not gnarly. I think you're charming. Love yourself for me, Remus, please.”
He looks at you, eyes swarming with that emotion.
“Thank you, darling.”
Remus catches you by surprise when he’s standing by your desk.
“What are you doing here, Remus?”
“Good evening, fine sir! How are you doing? I’m well, thank you!”
“No, seriously,” you cross your arms, “This is the intelligence department. How did you get in here?”
“Let’s just say, your boss is a 60 year old woman, and I sure know my way around them from playing bingo with my grandmother and her friends every Saturday.”
“Glad to see you’re feeling better.” And he looks better too, creases gone from under his eyes, which are now blinking endearingly at you. He had told himself he would tell you, and that would be it. Queenie tells him that you do like him, but he can’t believe her. He’s tapping his foot nervously.
“I am. When will you be off work?”
“I just have to send this email and I’ll be done.”
“Great!” He pulls out a book and starts reading. You finish your email, click send, shut off your computer and reorganise the files on your desk. You put on your coat, and put your bag on.
“Ready to go, sweetheart?” he asks.
"Yep.”
“Lovely, we’re going to take a stroll around the block. It’s a…thanks for the other day.”
You smile, “You’re more than welcome.”
You pass by a flower shop. He stops, “Hey, I want to get a present for you know- her.”
You feel your heart pang, “Yeah, sure," and then follows the obligatory, "Need some help?”
“Obviously.”
You step in and the bells jingle. A friendly shop attendant pokes her head from where she’s cutting roses.
“Hi Remus,” she grins at him, wiggling her eyebrows and he blushes, “And you are?”
You smile, “I’m Y/n.”
“Petunia Evans.”
“Lily?”
“Yes. Are you his girlfriend?”
You laugh, you’re flattered that anyone would ever think you’re his girlfriend, “Oh, I’m not his girlfriend. We’re actually here to find Remus’ crush a present! I’m Y/n,” you shake her hand.
“His crush, you say?”
“Yeah, his crush! By the way, I’ll tell you my favourite flower, can you psychoanalyse me?”
She giggles, “Okay!”
You whisper it in her ear and she starts a long tale of surprisingly accurate details of your life.
“Damn, you’re good.”
“Thanks. Remus, is there anything you’re looking for in particular? For this crush?”
Remus blushes.
You go to inspect the flowers at the front to hopefully get cheered up by the bees and the butterflies that touch down on little sprigs of pollen. You won’t revert to the sweet weeping soul that they made you. Remus buys some flowers and sets them down on the counter.
Petunia takes her dinner break and slips out of the building quietly. You’re admiring the little glass panes on the wall which let the right amount of light through, walking backwards and around the room. Remus is wondering when he should do it, turning uncertainly and walking towards you. You turn quickly too, “Remus, look at the ceil-”
You crash into him. He catches you, flowers in one hand, you in the other. You’re very close to him– he smells like a forest and chocolate. His eyes flicker to yours and there’s the expression again.
“Sorry,” you smile, stepping away. He doesn’t let go of you, instead pulling you closer. You look up to him with wide eyes and he’s so red all of a sudden. He brings the flowers to cover his face.
“These are for you,” he murmurs.
“Awh, but you really didn’t need to,” you grin, bringing the flowers up to your nose, “I offer my services for free!” They are so nice, and he's so nice.
“Services?”
“You know, helping you pick out the flowers and all.”
He sighs, “Darling, I don’t know how else to say this, but, I want you. I don’t have a crush, you’re my crush, I just never had the guts to say it. I want you by my side, all the time. It was hell on earth trying to stay away from you all these years because of Mary. I don’t know if you even like me, but I really, really like you, maybe even love you.”
You open your mouth, then shut it, eyes wide with sparkling, “I like you too.”
“Really? Because you don’t need to say it back just because you’re nice, I’m a lot of things but I don’t know if handsome or boyfriend material is one of them.”
“Rem, I adore you. You are so pretty and you always are comfortable when I’m crying and upset and raging.”
“Can we try this out then?”
“Of course we can. I’d do anything for you, Remus Lupin.”
“And I promise I’ll never make you a sweet weeping soul.”

Pairing: Lily Evans x fem! Reader
Warnings: smut, fingering, infidelity (rip James lol)
A/n: the amount of Lily fics on this app is disastrously small, which is, I think, a crime against humankind. Also, it may look like Lils is mean here but it’s not what I intended, I promise😥
- Shhh, darling, gotta be quiet f’me, okay? Don’t want others to hear what a naughty little girl you are, do we? - Lily tutted, a charming smile curling her lush lips as she fucked her fingers in and out of your sopping pussy ferociously, making your eyes roll and toes curl in tingling pleasure.
You nodded your head weakly, pressing a hand to your mouth, trying so so hard to suppress all the little sounds trying to break past your lips - an impossible task considering the way Lily pinned your with her chubby fingered you so viciously. Wet slippery sounds filled the crammy space of the girls’ dormitories, making you blush even deeper; Lily’s free hand came up to fondle your bare breasts, playing with supple flesh and twisting your nipples almost painfully, bringing you closer to your orgasm.
Your eyes fixated on Lily’s full breasts peeking so teasingly out of the low-cut of her black t-shirt, jiggling so prettily with the way her arm moved rapidly while fucking your greedy pussy. You recognized the familiar tingle settling in a pit of your belly, stomach tensing in sweet anticipation of nearing orgasm.
- Lily, ‘m gonna cum, - you barely whined, head spinning from heat and overwhelming pleasure.
- Cum for me baby, come on, - Lily encouraged softly, curling her nimble fingers a slightest bit, hitting that one sweet spot inside of you, surely sending you right over the edge.
And with that a dam broke. Your body spasmed and trembled ferociously with mind-numbing pleasure penetrating deeply into every muscle, so you had to bite down on your own fingers to subside all the wanton moans treating to spill from your bitten lips. Your eyes shut tight and the only thing your could concentrate on was Lily’s gentle voice, guiding you right through your orgasmic delirium, and surely bringing you back to reality.
Heavy footsteps could be heard nearing the room you were currently occupying, and by the loud boisterous laughter you could tell that it was no other but infamous James Potter. Lily cursed under her breath, pulling your tank top, that was bunched under your armpits just enough to reveal your tits, back down, throwing Marlene’s heavy duvet over your lower half. She made a quick job picking up your long dismissed shorts and panties from the floor and shoving them underneath said duvet, hiding your clothes there.
Mere moments later a door bursted open, hitting the wall with a loud ‘bang’ followed by James’ quiet ‘ooops, sorry’. Gryffindor seeker looked around a messy room, his pretty curls bouncing every time his head moved, glasses sitting low on his nose.
- Lils, dear, here you are, - shouted James cheerfully, nearing red-haired girl in two wide steps and wrapping a bing arm around her mid-section. He places a chaste kiss on her temple before averting his attention from his girlfriend to you, slumping against numerous pillows piled on your bed, still panting heavily. - Y/n, love, you allright?
Curly-haired boy let go of his girlfriend, advancing you and feeling your forehead with the back of his hand, tutting at the unnatural warmth underneath his skin.
- I don’t think she is, she’s burning hot, - tutted Lily in feigned compassion. James nodded in agreement, retreating his hand from your face, a look of sincere worry etched on his handsome face.
- Y/n, it’s may, how did you manage to get a cold? - he chided softly, not really knowing how to help you. You only shrugged weakly, giving him a small smile.
- I think she just needs some rest. She’ll be as good as new after some sleep, won’t you, dear? - Lily inquired and you nodded fervently, agreeing with ginger-haired girl animatedly. - Jamie, can you leave us alone, so I can help this poor thing into shower? - she added, referring to a bespectacled boy who was standing completely lost and clueless in the middle of the room.
- You sure? Maybe I can help with something? I have these really cool cough drops mom sent me, I can go fetch ‘em, - James offered and you felt a little pang in your chest for being a reason why him and Lily couldn’t work out. Red-haired reassured him, that you didn’t have cough and she there was an effective antipyretic potion in her trunk, softly urging him to leave. James only nodded his head and hurried to withdraw from the room. - Get better soon, dear, - he said before shutting the heavy door behind himself, leaving you two alone again.
You met Lily’s green eyes - they were crinkling with amusement and something you couldn’t quite decipher - something sly and playful. She neared you in in a few quiet steps, sitting herself next to you on a soft bed, one hand came to rest on the side of your neck, thumb rubbing the angle of your jaw softly. You looked at her bashfully, eyes shining and cheeks deeply flushed from your recent orgasm paired a possibility of being almost caught by Lily’s boyfriend. Red-haired sight softly, moving her hand down your rapidly pulsing jugular and then heaving chest, fingertips ghosting over your hard fabric-clad nipples teasingly.
- Oh dear, you do look like you need some help. Maybe with my mouth this time, huh?

IDEAS? I GOT YOU!!!
ok so this just came to me as I was reading your response but VAMPIRE READER MY BELOVED!!!!
Hear me out! Plot point I imagine:
It’s a full moon lily goes out to the forbidden forest (this could be before lily finds out about Remus being a werewolf or maybe she had to go get something and she’s only on the outskirts of the forest ) she’s trying to get what she needs quickly and efficiently as it is late and well forbidden. She hears something lurking around her but she can’t tell from which direction. Is it a deer? A bunny? Another person? She doesn’t really want to find out so instead she quickly and quietly decides to get the hell out of there but before she can successfully leave the forest MOONY JUMPS OUT! Lilly stumbles back before booking it in the other direction not thinking about anything besides “get the fuck away from the danger” moony is gaining fast but before he can catch her JAMES COMES TO THE THE RESCUE! he shoves moony aside and tries to keep moony away from lily. At first lily stares at the stag in shock because holy shit this giant stag just saved me but as moony tries to claw at her and the stag bellows (is that what it’s called?) she remembers her need to run and starts running again. But uh oh! Her ankle is twisted! So now she’s hobbling away as fast as she can cursing under her breath because she’s too smart to get herself into such a dumb situation like this!
Now there’s only so much James can do against moony by himself but he tries his damn hardest before moony gets out of his hold and starts chasing after Lily again this time with James hot on his tail. James yet again shoves moony aside and they tussle on the ground as lily is just inches away watching in horror as the stag who saved her gets throw into a tree. This is it she thinks. This is how I die. As the stag calls out a pained cry and as she closes her eyes accepting her early demise……nothing. Wait nothing? Quickly she opens her eyes to see someone in front of her. READER! Who in their right mind would fight a werewolf? How is this person fighting a werewolf bare handed? She stares up at this mystery person and can only see so much. because of the darkness theses not enough to she can conclude about this person but she can tell they went to hogwarts based on the clothes they’re wearing. As she continues to stare in shock she notices the person is holding the werewolf back by its jaw. Drool dripping down the persons arms. The stag is watching in shock or confusion? It’s hard to tell knowing he’s probably concussed.
The mystery person tells lily to run. She can see the persons canines and is appalled at how sharp they are. Are those fangs? She wonders. But before she can ask out loud they yell for her to run as they throw the werewolf back at least a couple feet and without a second thought she runs as fast as her sprained ankle can handle. Hearing grunts and growls in the distance. She runs as she hears screams. She runs until she reaches hogwarts. She runs until she reaches the gryfindor common room. She runs until she reaches her dorm room. She slides down the door and try’s to catch her breath closing her eyes until she ends up falling asleep against the door.
This was long and probably really shitty but hear me out. you can take this and make it like 10 times better it’d be amazing!
OK IM GONE!!! 🏃‍♀️
BRO I LOVE THIS!
AND it could totally be the beginning of the story as well. We could INTRODUCE the reader like this and start it with Lily's POV. I mean omniscient but focusing on her, and then from there build up until that point and the moment she sees the reader she can have a mini sexuality crisis bc HOW can this hot person do this?
But also, I kinda dig the idea that Remus would absolutely love the reader on a platonic kind of way because OMG there IS someone in the world that could actually fucking control Moony and they would become besties bc neither of them asked to be what they are and it'd be so freaking interested in exploring that side of the story as well.
AND since I AM writing vampires for the last Maraudween I feel like I'm actually going to have enough practice to be able to make this one happen ufff.
AND THE NAME?!?!? We could have a super meta name for the story bc Vampires are already super cool and did I mention to you guys I'm currently reading Dracula? I'm SOOOOO ready for this one!

fake dating trope with lily ♡
guys just won't leave her alone, especially james potter and she absolutely hates it. you're acquaintances and friends at a push, you share a lot of classes and have since your first year. last year you were paired up together for potions and you were both surprised at how easy it was to work together.
lily felt like she needed to get james off her back, marlene suggested it and her mind immediately went to you. she knows you like girls and you work well together but she doesn't know if you'd agree or even how she'd go about asking. she knows you're single because she's heard you complain about how mulciber asked you out for the second time in a year.
she psychs herself up, she could do, she's a gryffindor for goodness sake. she just needs to mention it to you and say how beneficial it will be for you both. she didn't expect you to agree straight away but you weren't going to miss this opportunity, spending more time with your crush, plus getting mulciber to leave you alone and to see james potter's face when he sees you two together, yeah you weren't going to pass this up.
what lily didn't expect was for you to talk to her everyday and sit next to her for every meal, you made her smile everyday, she was starting to forget this was suppose to be fake. you studied together and spent time relaxing together. you were kind and sweet and were so thoughtful. you made her feel special.
james didn't realise you were dating, he had blinkers on. those blinkers really pissed you off, especially when he pushed his way between you and lily and turned to you. "hey, you're not dating anyone right? i think you and remus would be really good together, we could even all go out together, you and remus and me and lily." your eyes narrowed and you nearly slapped him in the face, the audacity of this man, no wonder why lily complains about him.
"the only way we'd go out together is if you and remus started dating." lily replies, you don't see her because james is in the way but her arms are crossed and she just wants to be sitting next to you again.
"what are you talking about lily?" james asks and looks at her with a huge grin on his face.
you don't like how he's looking at lily, you hate it. "back off from my girlfriend potter!" you snap at him. james freezes and awkwardly chuckles, he didn't get the joke, you two were just friends, right? "jesus potter, are you blind. stop going after a girl who's taken and way out of your league." lily cheeks go as red as her hair and she softly smiles. james looks at you both dumbfounded.
"hello ladies," sirius comes up to you and claps his hands on james' shoulder after hearing the entire conversation, "lets go prongs." they leave and both you and lily move closer together.
lily's psyching herself up yet again, she's fallen for you but she's a gryffindor and she's not going to stand by and keep pretending what she feels for you is fake, not when there's a chance you feel the same. the way you snapped at james sounded so real. "can i kiss you?"
you quickly look up at lily to see her looking at you, you're making eye contact and it's making you feel warm inside. a smile creeps up on your face, "yeah," you say quietly and breathlessly.
"good," lily smiles back at you sweetly and holds the side of your neck gently and loosely. she moves towards you closer and pulls you towards her and you both smile against each others lips.

The movie was just that bad
Barbie dolls: jegugily x reader (James, regulus, Lily, you)
Word: 2.4k ish
Summary: okay so basically you're feeling all left out so you go to bed early and Lily is like 🤨 and then communication happens 🤢
warnings: you crochet, insecure thoughts and feelings we've all been there it's cool, immature ways of handling a situation for a few seconds, bad poop jokex2 I thought it was silly :(, lily is very loving, feeling like a third fourth wheel, feet mentioned not in any particular manner James is just annoying Reg, reg calls James 'girl' in a dude way yk like "dude shut up" "girl move" yk so if you think of James as trans it could possibly be a little misgendering but like it's not got any evil undertones it's reg being lovingly annoyed with James, James calls you pretty, reg is a mind-reader a lil, Lily has big thighs it's cannon to me that she's plus sized so argue with the wall, Google translate French, that's all <3
Request: how did you know
You felt sick to your stomach. You love all three of your partners, how could you not? But you felt like you were being shunned. You were the first in the living room. You had a long sofa and next to that was an armchair sat sideways. Regulus was off in the kitchen with Lily, making dinner. James was in the bathroom taking a shower. All was well. You cozied up in the armchair, pulling out your crochet project. You heard James' music slipping past the bathroom door. Regulus and Lily were laughing in the kitchen. You smiled at the sound of their voices.
When James finished his shower, he walked through the living room. His towel was tied around his waist slut and he was waving his glasses in the air to get rid of the fog. James popped a kiss on your temple before heading to the bedroom. Dinner was finished, you four ate like normal. It was good until you noticed the others were doing all the talking. They didn't even glance over at you. You ignored it, chalking it up to them being really interested in their conversation. Then you all went back to the living room. Lily turned on a movie. You moved back into your chair. You picked up your crochet again, only now extremely aware of the silence from your partners. They were all piled on the couch, snuggling against each other. All while you sat in the arm chair.
It shouldn't be this serious. They just weren't giving you attention for a handful of hours, but felt like a stab in the heart. There they were all cuddled up against each other, and they hadn't spoken to you since lunch if even that. Regulus had his head in Lily's lap, her fingers tugging through his hair. James was snuggled up against her side. James was hugging her arm to his chest. He had his hand over Regulus' shoulder intertwining his fingers with Regulus'. And you were sitting cross legged in an armchair. You felt like you were miles away from them.
Although you had been dating a while, you joined their relationship last. They were already so comfortable with each other, they had inside jokes, they had bits between each other, they were already so far into their comfortability with another. You were behind, even now. Regulus and James were actively wearing matching pajama pants. You stared at them. you wanted to be curled up with them, but you didn't want to be greedy. Begging for affection from your partners felt strange to you. They'd have to change their postition, they'd probaly miss a few mintutes of the movie, and you'd have to face the total embarrassment of having human wants.
You couldn't handle seeing them together though. It hurt too much to see their domestic love while you were craving it yourself. You weren't going to make a scene though. You set your project and hook on the small table next to you. You stood and quietly left the room. You headed into the hallway that attached the bathroom and your bedroom to the living room.
James, Regulus, and Lily thought nothing of it, they all use the restroom it's quite normal. You didn't go into the restroom, though. You went into the bedroom. The light was already off. You tucked yourself under the covers of your shared bed. You just wanted to wallow in self pity on your own for a little. Then in the morning you'd be mature and bring it up with them, properly communicating. Just not tonight, you needed to sit in your yucky human feelings for a few hours.
The boys were highly focused on the film, they knew you had left the room a while ago. They assumed you were just fighting for your life in the bathroom, which you enjoyed to do alone so they weren't worried. Lily was though. She noticed that you were kind of quiet during dinner. Then very quiet during movie time. Then you got up and left. The movie was boring to her and probably you, but not that boring. She decided she would check on you in the bathroom. Maybe you fell in.
Lily stood up from the couch, not without James whining and Regulus grunting disapprovingly, and walked towards the bathroom. When she reached the door she noticed the lights weren't on and the door was open. Lily knew you walked into this hallway and she was pretty sure you weren't a ghost so she moved further down the hall. She gently pushed open the door bedroom door. Lily found your head of hair resting on your pillow, blankets tugged up to your ear. You must've gotten a headache. She stepped over to your side of the bed. Lily gently pushed your hair away from your temple. She kissed you on your forehead.
"Headache?" Lily whispered. You shook your head against the pillow. She paused and tried to figure out what could be making you feel like an early bedtime was better than sitting through a movie with them.
"You okay?" You once again shook your head. Lily frpwned. She tucked the blankets under your side, sitting on the edge of the bed.
"What's going on? Can I help?" You shrugged. Lily gently rubbed your arm. She asked you to look at her. You both sat in silence a moment before you turned in the covers. You laid on your back and slumped your head to the side, finally meeting her eyes. Lily pleaded with you to talk to her with her face. You sighed.
"I just feel behind and like just" You trailed off trying to think of the right way to describe your thoughts. If you had your self pity time you would've figured it out, but alas your loving girlfriend was loving girlfriend-ing. "Unneeded, I suppose." Lily gave you a sad look, tilting her head to the side.
"Can you expand?" You sighed. You hated voicing things. You much preferred writing it all out, dropping it in front of them, and dashing away into the other room. Regulus was similar although he often left his feelings hung up on the fridge with one of James' strange magnets. You sat up, the blankets collecting in your lap.
"It's like you guys are already so in tune and used to each other being in your lives, I feel like a third wheel. Although this would technically be a fourth wheel but that's just semantics. I know I should be over this by now but it's hard. It feels like I could disappear and you guys' day to day wouln't change at all. I feel secondary and greedy." You hit your hands on the comforter over your lap. Lily grabbed your hands, bringing your attention back to her. Her eyebrows were pulled together. She seemed closer to tears than you did. You noticed a lack of background noise, the movie must've hit a long and quiet dialogue. Lily squeezed your hands.
"I'm so sorry you felt like that. It was never our intention to make you hurt like this. You're so important to us. Our day to day would be ripped to sheds without you. You're allowed to feel like this, you aren't greedy and you don't have to be over it. It doesn't mean you deserve it though. We love you, I love you. I thought you weren't feeling cuddles tonight, that's the only reason I didn't' call you over. I'm so sorry, baby." Lily sealed her apology with a kiss to your cheek. You nodded. You looked down at your lap, you still felt like you were making a big deal out of something so stupid. You did feel a little better though. Lily stood up from the bed. You kept your hold on her hand.
"I'm going to go get the boys." You shook your head. They actually enjoyed the movie, unlike you.
"No don't. They're having fun with their movie, you can go back to them. I just want to lay here. Just don't tell them." You held onto her hand with both of yours. She gave you a disapproving look.
"Just because they're having a fun time doesn't mean you don't deserve to." You grimaced. You muttered pleases, as she tried to pull her hand from you. The door opened before she could leave. James popped his head in first.
"Hey guys you know there's a movie in the other room" James said. His joke made him smile. His eyes crinkling. Regulus pushed him into the room, following in. James' smile slowly fell as he saw the sad looks on both yours' and Lily's faces.
"What happened in here?" Regulus muttered. He picked up the damper mood as well. James flung himself into the bed. You bounced. You felt like a cartoon, being in such a sour mood while jumping up and down from James' weight. He pressed his face to your upper arm. Regulus squinted at you and Lily sharing a look. He moved towards the bed sitting on the edge, closer to the foot of the bed. James rubbed his fuzzy socks up and down Regulus' arm. Regulus grimaced deeply and smacked him away. James giggled against your arm. Regulus rolled his eyes before looking back to you.
"We're feeling a lot of big feelings today." Lily said, sitting back down on the bed. You glared at her. James picked his head up, looking up at you. Regulus scooted closer to you, crossing his legs on the bed.
"Do not infantilize me." You grumbled, sitting back against the pillows. Lily shook her head.
"I'm not-" Regulus cut Lily off with a disagreeing whine.
"Just a little." He mumbled. James ignored them both, staring at you with wide eyes.
"What's going on, darling?" You shrugged. Just don't answer their questions. What can they do? You sat in silence for a moment. You felt the weight of their eyes on you. You truly wished you could fall asleep faster, they would never wake you up for this communication nonsense. Regulus pulled himself up onto his hands and knees. He crawled between you and James shooing him out of the way.
"Move."
"I'm very comfortable where I am thank you."
"Girl, I said move."
"You're so demanding." James muttered as he scooted to the side. Regulus sat next to you, pulling your hands into his.
"I think I know what's going on." Regulus whispered to you. Lily scoffed and rolled her eyes. James shook his head and stared at Regulus.
"Oh yeah, Mr magical I-know-everything man what do you think is going on?" James asked. Regulus snapped his head to face James next to him.
"Shut up." Regulus seethed, hissing through his teeth. He turned back to you and his expression softened. "I joined these dickheads after they were dating and I felt all rejected and behind. Is that what this is about?" Regulus whispered. You nodded your head, holding onto his hands tighter. James made a sad sound behind Regulus.
"That's okay, you feel like we're already comfortable and you'd be intruding? Jealous but in a self-deprecating way?" Regulus gently cupped your cheek with one hand. You nodded. You turned your head, pressing a kiss to his palm. James screeched and pushed his head over Regulus' shoulder.
"You'd think we would've figured this out by now. I'm sorry, pretty." James frowned and pushed his face further into Regulus' shoulder. His face was squished making his glasses slip down a little. Lily rubbed your shoulder.
"Seriously we're really sorry." Lily whispered. At the mention of the word serious James looked up with a grin. Lily held up a hand in his direction. "Do not." James deflated and hid in Regulus' shoulder.
"When did this flare up today? Was it when we were in the kitchen?" Regulus asked, dragging your attention back to him. You grimaced and shook your head. He ran his thumb over your cheekbone, encouraging you to continue.
"Dinner, but really with the movie." Your voice was barely above a breath. You were exhausted from crying in the dark and exhausted from communicating. Regulus nodded and kissed your forehead. James gasped loudly and flung himself over Regulus' legs. He laid on his stomach, kicking his legs up in the air, and supporting his head with his fist.
"Do you want cuddles?" James asked. Lily stared at James for a moment.
"I feel like you're not taking this seriously, and it's upsetting me." Lily said. James' shoulders sunk. He looked away from you to Lily.
"I'm trying to be positive, but you're over here being a Pessimistic Pandora." James poked Lily's plush thighs that rolled up her sleepy shorts when she sat down. Lily glared at him lovingly.
"Don't bring Pandora into this." Regulus argued. James moved his attention to Regulus.
"You're upsetting your partner, look at them." Lily cupped your face as she spoke. You made an exaggerated sad face. She whined and pressed her cheek against yours. "so sad." Lily muttered. James quickly tackled you wrapping you in his warm arms.
"James you're crushing me." You whispered to him. He shook his head against your neck. James turned his head, pecking you all over your face. You let out a laugh, gripping his shoulders for support.
"Crushing you with my love." James said. He scooted further down your body, resting his head on your chest. James held onto you gently now. Regulus laid down next to the both of you. He settled one hand on your shoulder, dropping his head next to yours on your pillow. Regulus gently kissed your cheek. He lingered for a moment before pulling back. Regulus settled against the pillow again.
"I love you, bien-aimé." You melted against him. You turned your head towards him. You pressed your forehead against Regulus'. You felt Lily scooting down the bed too. She pulled your arm off the mattress, and tugging it over her shoulders. She whispered for James to move down. He obliged. James pressed his face into your stomach. Regulus dropped his other hand to James hair, twirling James' curls around his finger. Lily rested her head on your chest. You rubbed her shoulder with your hand. That's how you four fell asleep, giving you all the proper cuddles. In the morning James made pancakes for everyone. Your stack had 'I <3 u' written in chocolate chips. Lily made the fridge magnets into a heart with your initial inside. Next to the grocery list, next to the heart, was a long winded love letter in Regulus' swirly handwriting.

Princess (Lily Evans x reader)
Warnings: smut, oral, fingering, swearing
Summary: People like to assume things about y/n and Lily’s relationship which causes Lily to feel disrespected.
Tumblr media
People always loved to assume things about you and Lily, your own friends didn’t get your relationship. People perceived Lily to be soft, innocent, beautiful and quite conservative because she’s smart. Whereas you’re perceived to be outspoken, vulgar and confident often mistaken for being dominant.
You and Lily cuddle up on the couch in the common room smiling and kissing happily. “It’s weird, isn’t it?” Sirius says aloud “Yes, it’s unusual” James agrees. The four boys observe you and Lily in the almost empty common room.
“Don’t be jealous, James” you smirk and he scoffs “Jealous? I’m not jealous of you” “All of you are, that must be why you’re all so interested in our relationship.”
“No way, don’t put words in my mouth” Sirius defends himself “We just don’t get it” Remus explains. “There’s not much to get, we love each other” Lily says “Do you ever have sex?” Sirius teases “Shut up Sirius.”
“There’s no way, Lily is too innocent for that” James chimes in. “No, you’ve got it wrong, Lily is a pillow princess” Sirius says “That is so rude” Lily sits up “I guess you’ll never know” you say walking away.
Lily was angered by Sirius’ comments, you follow her to your shared dorm room. “Pillow Princess? Me? I’m not even a bottom!” she exclaims “He is just teasing, you know he likes to get me upset, it’s a joke. I’ll make sure to tell him he went too far.”
Lily angrily paces up and down the length of the dorm room “Get undressed” she demands “Why?” “Dont question me, I’m not in a playful mood.”
You start to get out of your uniform until you’re completely naked “bed” she says, you get onto the bed hugging your knees. Lily mutters to herself continuing to pace up and down forgetting you’re naked and ready for her on the bed. “Pillow princess” she mutters along with cursing Sirius.
“Darling” you say carefully “I’m not a pillow princess, I treat my love with the best orgasms, I love eating your pussy” she says angrily. “I know, you’re so good at making me cum” you encourage her slightly anxious about her behaviour.
“I can’t wait to see your pretty pussy, I bet you’re already wet, you’re always wet for me” you nod as she approaches you. “Lay down, spread your legs” she says unbuttoning her school shirt leaving it open.
Half of you wants to thank Sirius for getting your girlfriend riled up and the other half wants to hate him for insulting her.
Lily kisses your inner thighs as you squirm. She presses her lips to your clit, you feel the pressure. She licks up and down your cunt tasting you and moaning against your clit.
“So good Lil” you moan letting your fingers tangle in her hair.
Her fingers slip inside you making your eyes roll back and your back arch. “That’s it” she says gently, rubbing your inner thigh.
“I’m close” you warn “I know, let it go.”
You screw your eyes shut and breathe out as you finish. Lily’s fingers don’t stop until you’ve completed your orgasm. She licks her fingers and places a kiss on your forehead.

single mom lily x fem!reader?
reader works in an ice cream shop and cute little harry (im imagining hes like 4/5???) absolutely adores the place so lily brings him in for ice cream all the time and falls for reader bc she is just so good with harry
ok here's my attempt 😮‍💨 thought this idea was so cute though!
single mum!Lily Evans x fem!reader meet cute
Lily was very lucky and very grateful that Harry had been a generally easy child. He was so much like his father that, whilst it didn't translate into the romantic relationship most parents wished to enjoy, led to a wonderful son and the best co-parent a woman could ask for.
And because Harry was such an easy-going child, she was trying very hard to stay patient with him as she frantically texted with James.
L: James Potter, where in the buggering fuck is this ice cream place that has ‘spiderman’ ice cream!? J: LOL oh god sorry. It’s on the boardwalk near the ferry. L: Thank you 😮‍💨 J: He making a fuss? L: I think we may have been moments away from a stage five meltdown. J: Thoughts and prayers 🫡
One meltdown avoided later and they were finally walking into the quaint, family owned ice cream shop on the boardwalk by the ferry, just as James described.
“Oh no!” Harry cried dramatically, holding his little hands to his face.
“What is it, Haz?” Lily asked, looking around to see what could have possibly caused such worry in a five and a half year old.
“The man!” He explained.
Which explained nothing at all to Lily, still looking around the shop in confusion.
“What man?”
“The man with the spiderman ice cream! He’s not here!” Harry cried, turning to his mum with tears magnified by his glasses as they began pooling in his eyes.
She was racking her brain for something to say to the boy when a bubbly voice trilled from behind the glass ice cream displays.
“Hello there! What can I get for you two?” You greeted the pair with a beaming smile. If Lily wasn’t so caught up with Harry, she would have likely taken a moment to admire your radiance.
“The man!”
Lily watched as your smile fell only slightly and you tilted your head in confusion. “Which man, sweets?”
“The man with the special ice cream! He made it after my favourite superhero!” Harry cried with a stomp on his foot.
Lily pulled Harry towards her as she offered you an apologetic smile.
“I’m so sorry, he came here with his father last week and I-”
But like a beautiful ethereal angel sent from Lily’s own personal heaven, you waved her off with an easy smile. “Not to worry at all, love. My dad is the better ice cream server, so I understand your disappointment, little man.” You empathised. “But!”
Harry perked up at that, standing a little taller as he looked at you expectantly. “He did tell me that a certain hero may be coming in to look for some special spidey ice cream; could that be you?” You stage whispered the end of your sentence to Harry, causing him to squeal in delight.
“Yes!”
“Oh thank goodness.” You said with a dramatic sigh. “I thought I was going to have to erase your memory for giving away trade secrets!”
Harry squealed in excitement again and shoved his face up against the glass casing to watch you start expertly scooping ice cream, completely unawares of his fingerprints and foggy breaths creating more work for his newfound hero.
“How many scoops, my man?”
“Five!”
“Uhm,” Lily interrupted, placing a conciliatory hand on her son's shoulder. “Maybe just two.”
“Mum!” Harry whined, but you just laughed.
“Sorry kid, mum’s the boss.”
Harry acquiesced with one more groan, but grinned when he saw the size of the scoops you were serving him.
“What about you, mama?” You asked after handing Harry his cone, watching as the boy made his way to sit at a table with his red and blue ice cream.
“Is it really spiderman ice cream?” Lily blurted instead of answering your very normal, professional, and polite question.
You barked a laugh, but Lily was pleased that your laughter was because you found Lily funny rather than at her expense.
“Between you and me,” you whispered conspiratorially, resting your arms on the glass counter and your chin on your hands. “It’s just moonmist ice cream, but this batch used too much food dye, so instead of the normal light blue, pale purple, and pastel yellow, it turned out a little more…super.”
Lily looked back to her son, happy as can be with his super ice cream as he watched boats sail by in the harbour.
“Brilliant.” Lily whispered as she turned back to face you, only to find you smiling softly at her already.
“Yes.” You agreed, though Lily wasn’t quite sure what you found brilliant. “So, what can I get you?”
“Oh.” Lily responded dumbly, looking hastily through the options before opting for two scoops of rocky road.
“Fine choice, m’lady.” You said before scooping, once again expertly, the frozen treat onto a cone.
“Is that what you usually get?” Lily asked suddenly. You seemed surprised at her question as your eyebrows migrated to your hairline and you looked up to consider her.
Lily hoped to all hell that her blush wasn’t as furious as it felt.
You smirked before your eyes flit back up to hers. “I’m more of a strawberry girl, myself.” You replied quietly, shooting Lily a wink.
If her blush hadn’t been furious before, she was certain it was now.
Lily paid and Harry shot you a “thanks ice cream lady!” as they headed towards the exit with their ice creams in tow.
“You’re welcome, little man! Stay super!” You said with a wave.
“I will!”
“Hope to see you and your mum here again soon.” You said quieter this time, sending Lily a kind albeit shy smile. Lily was certain you’d be seeing the two of them here again.

lily evans x fem!reader
type: fluff
summary: you, a slytherin prefect and quidditch player, and lily evans, gryffindor’s golden girl, have seemed to find yourselves in a strange and lovely situation
word count: 1.1k
notes: completely self indulgent. also sorry if this feels short.
marauders masterlist
✩ ✩ ✩
You couldn’t have imagined in a million years that you would’ve Lily Evan’s type.
You, the loud mouth, aggressive, quidditch playing prefect whom she never seemed all too thrilled to do night rounds with. You, the avid defender of all the younger Slytherin students which usually led to you getting into regular spats with the marauders when their pranks hit more than Death Eaters. You, the one who had a notoriously bad break up with one of her best friends (let’s be real though, how many queer girls at Hogwarts hadn’t had a bad break up with Marlene Mckinnon at some point?).
You, the girl.
All of these things didn’t stop her however from snogging in a random broom closet every Tuesday and Thursday night when the two of you were assigned patrols.
You weren’t exactly sure how the little affair started, but you were sure you didn’t want it to stop.
You were suddenly hyperaware of her at all times- how you stared a little too long in the dining hall and in lessons, how she stood a little too close in prefect meetings, how she now sat in the front row of the Gryffindor section at quidditch games. It was like you were both making a game of how far you could push the limits of a secret affair.
“What’s got you all dazy?” Pandora had asked you one Saturday morning in the Great Hall. She sat directly across from you, reading the new edition of the Quibbler as she ate her toast. It was the third Saturday of the month, meaning the Gryffindor’s would be out on the quidditch pitch for the next hour before it was the Slytherin’s turn to practice. In that time, you were hoping to somehow steal Lily away- at least for a little while- while a good portion of her friend group was busy. The only issue was that she hadn’t walked in yet.
“Nothing,” you said, snapping your head back to your friends. You picked up a spoon full of cereal and quickly shoved it into your mouth. “Just thinking about what we need to work on at practice today.”
“Good to know someone’s finally got their head back in the game,” Lucinda boredly chimed in from beside you. “I was getting worried.”
“For the last time, Lu, the only thing that distracted me at the last game was that bloody bludger nearly taking my head off right,” you said, dropping your spoon into your bowl of now soggy cereal. “I swear to Godric the next time I see Sirius Black I’m gonna-”
Someone behind you cleared their throat.
You spun around in your seat, the conversations near you at the table falling silently. Lily Evans making an appearance at the Slytherin table wasn’t an everyday occurrence, you know.
“Hi,” was all you managed to stutter out, hoping it didn’t come off too forced as your cheeks warmed.
“Hi,” Lily smirked, watching you get all flustered in front of her. “Sorry to interrupt, Filch requested us to meet him in his office to discuss something that happened last night.”
Your blood went cold. What had happened last night was you and Lily snogging in an empty corridor for the better part of an hour.
“Oh, alright,” you said, your cheeks once again heating up. “I’ll- I’ll be back in a minute,” you told your friends, hoping your awkwardness wouldn’t make them suspicious of anything.
“You better be on the pitch by 9:30!” Lucinda shouted after you as you and Lily exited the Great Hall.
You rung your hands out in front of you as you followed Lily through the school. He couldn’t have seen you two, right? Surely one of you would have noticed. You weren’t exactly sure what you would do if you had been caught. I mean, what could you do? You’d surely be stripped of your prefect titles and, Merlin, the rumors would be something awful.
“Lily,” you said, breaking the silence of the hall, your mouth dry. She glanced at you before once again looking forward as you passed a group of third years. “What exactly did Filch want-“
Without giving you any warning, she gripped the sleeve of your robe and pulled you with her into an empty classroom. She forcefully pushed her lips onto yours- the taste of her now familiar chapstick making butterflies in your stomach. You leaned back onto the wall she pushed you to, letting the back of your head rest against it as she wrapped her arms around your neck. There was a charm about her that made you completely forget what you had been worrying about just moments before- your full attention now on the girl in front of you.
“Lils,” you laughed lightly as she pressed kisses down your jaw. “I’m assuming there's no Filch?”
“Well, aren’t you clever,” she smiled, pulling back for a moment to look at you. She pecked your lips again. “Sorry to worry you, I just needed to get you away from your friends.” You couldn’t help your cheeks warming again. There was something about this girl that turned you to straight mush.
“Getting bold, are we?” you asked, tucking some of her fiery red hair behind her ear. “Bloody Gryffindors,” you joked.
“Hmm, see I think you’re rubbing off on me,” she said, pursing her lips to hide her smile. “After that little show I put on for your friends back there, I’m starting to think the hat made some sort of mistake.” You couldn’t help the snort that came out as you laughed at the idea of her in Slytherin.
“Yeah, and I should’ve been in Hufflepuff,” you said sarcastically. “You know, with how patient and just I am.” She laughed again, crinkling her nose as she closed her eyes.
“Oh, very patient,” she said. “It’s your best trait, really.”
“What can I say- I’m a lot of things,” you started, letting your head lull back against the wall, “Patient, resourceful, intelligent, humble. I can’t be confined by the restraints that are what we call Hogwarts houses.” Lily hid her face in your shoulder this time as she laughed. You laughed too, wrapping your arms around her and simply holding her for a moment.
You thought about your friends and if they saw you now. You thought about her friends and what they wouldn’t do if they saw you now. A bloody protective bunch, the marauders and co. were. You couldn’t even bring yourself to care what any of them would say. Not even Sirius Black could hex off the smile that had seemed to take permanent residence on your face when she was around.
It was something truly special, you two had, and it was yours.

lily licks you at a brutal pace, tongue shoved down your pussy. her fingers play with your throbbing clit as she eats you out, her other hand reaching up to play with your nipples.
your inner thighs are soaked by your slick and her saliva, dripping onto the sheets.
she pinches your bud and it pulses between the pads of her fingers, engorged and puffy.
“taste so good, princess,” she mumbles against your pussy lips, nose bumping into your clit.
“th-thank you, mommy,” you stutter, fingers tangled in her hair.
she thrusts into you with her tongue, sending shivers up your spine. a knot forms in your stomach for the fifth time tonight. you gasp as she continues, slightly tugging on the red strands wrapped around your hands.
“behave,” she whispers against you.
you loosen your grip, eyes fluttering shut.
a blinding white paints the inside of your eyelids as the knot inside snaps. you release onto her, coating her face. she continues as you finish, pace speeding up further.
“did so good, baby,” she says, already going for round seven.

Hihi!! I’m brand new here but I love your writing already!! I was wondering if you could write something for James, Remus, or Lily (you can pick!) with a reader who’s absolutely terrified of throwing up and they help her through it when it actually happens? Sorry if it’s worded weirdly or doesn’t make sense 😭😭
Thank you for requesting lovely!
cw: nausea, mention of vomit, reader has hair long enough for a ponytail
Lily Evans x fem!reader ♡ 616 words
“Sweetheart,” Lily’s perfume fills your lungs with every deep breath you take, sweet and vaguely floral. Grounding. Her hand coasts gently up and down your spine, “you’re only drawing it out.”
Tears bite at the backs of your eyes, because you know. It’s inevitable, when the first wave has already passed but the nausea hasn’t, that there’s going to be more. And your girlfriend, despite her best intentions, is being so supremely unhelpful by telling you so.
Which isn’t her fault, you know. You certainly don’t want her to go away, you’re just frustrated and panicky and a bit despairing in your hopelessness. It’s easy to be angry with her, when the true villain is formless.
“I can’t make myself do it,” you choke out, and you have to press your lips together hard right after, swallowing.
“You don’t have to do anything,” Lily promises. She keeps her voice soft and soothing, a caress to your sensitive nerves. A piece of hair falls into your face, and she tucks it back in with the rest, confined to a ponytail at the back of your head. You focus on the gentle scrape of her nails over your scalp. “Just relax, yeah? Let your body do what it needs to.”
You scrunch your face as another wave of nausea roils through you, squeezing a tear out of one eye. Lily coos and ducks down to kiss it away. Her lips are soft against your cheek, unconcerned with your clammy skin or how awful you know your breath must be, and you’re treated to a sight of her pretty green eyes as she stays crouched beside you. They’re kind, worried.
“I know you’re nervous,” she says, “but that wasn’t so bad a few minutes ago, was it?”
“I didn’t love it,” you admit, and she smiles. It’s distractingly lovely. You forget your breathing for a moment, reminded when bile pushes cruelly at the base of your throat. Lily’s expression creases like she can tell.
“You’ll be so happy once it’s done, pretty girl. So long as you sit here thinking about it it’s still happening, but when it’s over, it’s over.”
You think to make a reply, something along the lines of I know but that doesn’t make it easier, when your body overrules you. Lily starts rubbing your back again as you cough and gasp, tears slipping off your nose and into the toilet bowl.
“You’re alright, baby,” she says, sweet-toned and sure. “I’ve got you.”
You pant like a child as you spit the last of it out, and Lily reaches for the cup of water you’d set aside earlier, passing it to you. You swish and spit into the toilet. You lean back into her, and she receives you happily, adjusting so that you’re partially in her lap and brushing your ponytail to the side. She blows cool air on your nape, making you sigh.
“You’re so weird,” she says at your reaction, the smile euphonious in her voice. “Do you feel better this time?”
“I think so,” you answer fretfully.
Lily combats your anxiety with sureness. “I had a feeling you would.” She brushes a kiss against the shell of your ear. “I know that wasn’t easy, sweetheart. Do you want some of your ice cream as a reward?”
You groan. “I don’t want to eat anything ever again.”
“Fair enough,” she laughs. “How about a shower then?”
You tilt your head back, batting your eyelashes at her. “Will you come with me?”
Lily clearly makes an effort to keep her smile at bay, but it shows itself in the happy squint of her eyes. “If you ask me nicely, I’ll do anything you like.”

I think I like you (I hope you do too)
Lily Evans x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
a/n: first fic!!! pls be kind :) the title is from your text by sundial.
c/w: die joke, swearing. (lmk if i missed something)
You stared at the man with undisguised incredulity. “800 pounds? Are you kidding me? I thought we agreed on 500?” Trevor - or perhaps Troy rolled his eyes at you derisively. He probably thought he was being subtle - that stupid prick.
“It's just how it is, Miss. Moving stuff inside the 'ouse? Well, that's gonna cost you a bit extra, innit? Wouldn't want you gettin' in over your 'ead now, would we?" he jeered at you. His twin, Trevor, you identified from his tag, snickered stupidly at that. The universe was really testing your patience today.
"Seriously? It would've been decent to tell me upfront that moving stuff indoors meant extra charges. This is ridiculous." Trevor turned to you then, all six feet of him tensed and towering over you. "Miss, it ain't on us. You got a problem with it, you take it up with the higher ups. Give us our dosh, we've got other bits to be getting on with." With a sigh you handed over the cash, regretting the choice of passing on your friends’ offers to help you with the move.
With another sigh, you turned back to the big mess in front of you, your hands resting on your hips, visibly expressing the exhaustion you were already feeling. This had seemed like such an exciting idea at first, having your own space all to yourself. The independence and freedom that you had anticipated was certainly there and you were definitely feeling it now. Having to arrange all this furniture by yourself …… very exciting.
You let out a third sigh and felt the weariness seep into your bones. This was going to be a very long day. You took a step toward the covered couch - ready to begin settling into this new place, which would hopefully become your home.
Suddenly, you were ambushed by a lasso which was thrown at your legs with murderous intent. The lasso then purred and you died ….. due to the lasso’s cuteness. “Hello, kitty! Oh, you’re so precious”, you cooed. The cat (not lasso) meowed up at you, rubbing against your shins. “What’s your name, buddy?” you murmured softly, picking it up and settling it in your arms. The only response you received was another meow, and a curious paw on your face. Noticing your open door, you walked towards it, all the while, gently scratching the cat behind its ears. “You seem like such a distinguished member of the society. Oh, is that where you came from?” you wondered to yourself, noticing another open door down the hallway. “And you’re my new neighbour too, it’s so sweet of you to welcome me like that, kitty.” you giggled, shutting your door carefully.  “Let's get you back to your owner, shall we?” You walked up to the threshold of your neighbour’s house and knocked on the open door.
Just then, ‘Kitty’, as you had begun to call the cat in your head, jumped down from your arms and ran inside — towards the kitchen, you assumed. Standing on your neighbour’s doorstep awkwardly with no apparent reason was definitely not on your agenda for the day but before you could say or do anything, a figure emerged from said kitchen, you assumed again. Following that, your heart skipped around five or at least two beats.
Standing in front of you was probably the most gorgeous woman you had ever seen. Her red curls were tied up in a top bun and there was a smudge of flour across her left cheek. And she was saying something — to you. “— hall?” She asked, with a curious gaze fixed on you.
“Huh? Sorry — I didn’t hear that, I was - I was thinking something else, sorry” you felt heat rise to your cheeks.
At this, a teasing smile spread on her lips. She replied with a playful lilt to her tone "I said, I hope Crookshanks didn't give you any grief, darlin', and I was wonderin' if you're the new neighbour down the hall."
“Oh yes, I am.’’ you replied hurriedly. “I’m in 403. Which you probably already know, cus' of all the noise.” Then you registered her previous statement. “Oh, wait — his name is Crookshanks? That’s such a cute name! How old is he?”
“He’s four!” she replied eagerly. “He’s Himalayan. And I’m Lily Evans. What’s your name, love?” she asked, walking up to you.
It was so hard not to stare at her — she was radiant, and you realised with a start that your palms were sweaty as hell. Quickly wiping them on the back of your thighs, you extended your right hand forward as you told her your name — mostly so that you would have something to do with them, but also because she was just so pretty. Although you didn’t want to be a creep, her hands looked so soft. You realised too late that they also looked dusty. The apologetic smile on her face just made you want to cringe even more.
"I'm terribly sorry. I was actually just whipping up some cookie dough for your welcome biscuits. Seems I've spoiled the surprise, haven't I? But I do hope you're rather fond of chocolate chip! It's one of my specialties, you know." she winked.
In your opinion, if you fainted, at that moment, it would be completely valid. The little nicknames, the supposed flirting (you hoped), and that wink? It was a surprise you were still standing straight. It took you a few seconds to find your voice again. “Oh, you didn’t have to, you know? But also thanks a lot. Crookshanks and his owner both definitely know how to give a warm welcome.” That was brave. And also slightly lame, in your opinion. But it seemed to have its desired effect or so you thought, judging by the slight twinkle in Lily’s eyes. Her body language shifted. She leaned in a bit closer and hummed playfully. "Looks like I owe thanks to my mate for leaving the door ajar as he left. Annoying as bloody hell, but it seems to have finally come in handy."
You quirked a smile at that, hoping her close proximity didn’t mean she could feel the heat emanating off of your face. “Looks like you do, I guess. Anyway, I should get going. I’ve still got a shit ton of stuff to do and not enough time. I’ll see you — and Crookshanks, later though?” Judging by the way her smile seemed to soften around the edges, she definitely caught the hopeful tone at the end of your sentence. “Yes, you will. Fancy joining me for dinner tonight? I'm not exactly a master chef, but I reckon the gas ain't sorted yet at your place, love.” this time, her tone was quieter and she was looking directly into your eyes with a small smile. You shifted your weight to the other leg and looked to the floor, considering it. Was this a date? You desperately wanted it to be, but what if something went wrong? Then you would have to live next to her with that and it would be awkward as hell. Looking back up at her, you saw that she was waiting patiently for you to respond, and you decided to give it a shot. What will happen, will happen, right?
“Sure.” you replied, hoping your voice didn’t betray the conflict you had felt. “I’d love that.” She smiled brightly and clapped her hands together, leading to a small cloud of flour enveloping the both of you. At that she grinned sheepishly and whispered “Sorry.” Guess you weren’t the only nervous one, after all."I'll see you after you're done with work, love. Just give me a shout, yeah? I’ll be waitin’."
And with that, you left for your own flat, and the big mess that awaited you. You knew the nerves of the date — was it? — would power you to get through a majority of the work. A giddy smile on your face, you began with the Herculean tasks.
And if the exhaustion of the day seemed like a good excuse to sit a bit too close to each other on Lily’s couch while watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine after eating slightly overcooked pasta, who were you to object to that?
