overall i don't think gaster interacted very directly with spamton at all, at least not in the way a character "not cut" from the game would. he had to use an alias as his "true name" crashes the game. he had to communicate by phone. he's an old forum post you find buried in the recesses of the internet or a playground rumor that originates from "my mom's aunt's second-cousin who works at nintendo". he's a way for you to try and "break the game" so you can have as much of the lightners' attention as everyone else and quickly attain all the perks thereof. he's a sequence of steps listed on gamefaqs you need to complete in order to get into a hidden basement room that has a super-powerful super-secret item inside. he's a cut character you can hear a few lines of dialogue from if you make the right call, "pieces" of him still lingering in the form of unfinished events that cut off abruptly before they end and rooms that only appear if you know what tricks to try. he — and anything in the game he might "break" — are both an anomaly within the game and limited by the constraints of it.

haven't seen this explicitly pointed out yet, but. the switch 2 deltarune trailer directly quotes the egg man, with just a verb tense change. and then, in the credits, gaster strongly evokes the same phrasing:

The only one that could possibly be canon to Ink is Swap if we take into consideration the canceled comic Comyet did a long while back! And the art Comyet has done with Ink and Error I'm 99% sure is just a what-if, not canon interpretation on how they think they possibly would interact together

Everytime I see someone with their full chest exclaim how the dream twins or Error are canon to ink I internally die inside I'm sorry

Imagine Gaster is revealed at the end of Deltarune and it turns out he looks nothng like we thought he did so now everyone's AUs and interpretations of Gaster either need a redesign or need to be considered as an extreme redesign. I think that'd be pretty funny.

So about the "Gaster" Valentine...

My first thought was that the speaking style is just too informal to be him, so i then jumped to thinking it was Tenna (or the next secret boss?)

And then Chara because I'm predictable and I think it would be funny if Chara was just fucking impersonating him for shits and giggles

However I've been reading other people's thoughts about it, and like, Gaster talking more informally in a silly valentines note to us, is a fascinating concept is it not? Like, it's not like he talks in his survey program voice all the time right?

I like the idea of him being a little goofy, a little more relaxed when he can be. Also the fact that the person in the letter asks "How is Delta Rune?" is VERY INTERESTING curious, like. I feel like only he would know to ask that. The only other person I could think of to ask that is. The Knight??

I dunno, there's something about this letter being from Gaster that's fun, that makes him more endearing, and maybe gives us a deeper look into his character if it really is him sending this letter. I honestly now lean more towards it being Gaster, just in a different context that isn't him giving us a survey.

After all, it wouldn't be the first time a utdr character changes up their speech patterns for dramatic effect.

Goddd I wonder a lot how like. The new chapter release will be handled now since Twitter is How it is and the news letter system is now in place. The most dedicated insane people that would want to see the typical release tweet build up are already signed up to the news letter why not just send it out that way? I’d simply pass away at an ominous all caps email notif.

It wouldn’t have the like spaces out between hours and time type of effect unless it was numerous emails but ohh man.
