The Multi-Medium
Video games are almost never solely about their gameplay, but the overall experience they provide. In fact, some games have gameplay that serves merely as a vehicle for providing the player with the ability to have the experience. A perfect example of this is found in The Multi-Medium. An indie game built entirely around the idea of interdimensional travel between vastly different worlds, worlds which each have totally different art and music styles, a unique gameplay gimmick of their own, and completely different moods and themes. All while featuring platformer gameplay which most people would agree is serviceable at best. It’s not about the play mechanics. It’s about the journey.

FrogSpin: A New Roguelike Adventure Awaits You

FrogSpin the physics-based roguelike platformer, is bouncing its way onto Linux and Windows PC soon. All of this is made possible by the nonstop creativity of the team at Venturous. They are working to find its way onto Steam.
Alright, gamers – grab your hats (or better yet, unlock them in-game) because FrogSpin is almost here. It’s about to turn your platforming expectations upside down.
Developed by the creative minds at Venturous, FrogSpin is a wild new physics-based roguelike platformer. It is where chaos, charm, and croaky dreams collide. And the best part? It’s coming soon to Linux at just $9.99 USD. That’s less than a fancy sandwich—and way more fun.
You’ll take control of an adorable wind-up frog with one goal: bounce through the bizarre, fruit-tiled world and prove that even a little mechanical hopper can become a legend. Sounds easy? Think again. Every level throws something unexpected your way—spinning slot machines decide your fate, dishing out modifiers like gusty winds, slippery rain, balloon gravity, or whatever wild challenge the game decides to hit you with. No two runs are the same, and that's where FrogSpin really shines.
The controls? Super simple—just two buttons. Tap for a quick jump, hold for a mighty leap. Since it’s the kind of setup anyone can pick up in seconds. However, mastering it? That’s another story. Whether you’re threading the needle with pixel-perfect hops or launching yourself into a glorious disaster, it’s always entertaining. And yes, there will also be moments where you scream, laugh, and maybe cry—sometimes all at once.

Key reasons we’re all losing our minds:
Strategy meets slapstick – Precision platforming, accidental hilarity, and a thousand ways to say, “Wait, WHAT just happened?!”
Funky transformations – Turn into a speeding toy car, a drifting bubble, or a tile-smashing drill and tear up the map in new ways.
Slot machine chaos – Each FrogSpin level throws a dice roll of modifiers at you, due to keep every run fresh and surprising.
Point-chasing goodness – Grab shiny points, unlock awesome rewards, and feel that sweet rush of watching your score skyrocket.
Frog fashion, baby – From wacky hats to accessories with special powers, you’ll collect gear that’s not just stylish but useful across multiple game modes.
On top of all that, the visuals are straight-up delightful—vibrant, colorful, and full of quirky energy. This makes every hop feel like part of a Saturday morning cartoon.
So if you’re a Linux player and always on the hunt for something fresh, fun, and just the right amount of ridiculous, FrogSpin is your next big obsession. Wishlist it on Steam, get your buttons ready, and prepare to leap headfirst into a world of adventure for just $9.99 / £7.99 / 8,99€. In this world, one brave frog is just a few chaotic hops away from glory.
FrogSpin physics-based roguelike platformer is almost here. Are you ready to spin your fate?

boy do i have a link for you guys:
here's an app that uses your local area network to send files directly between devices without having to send it to a cloud server and back. it's faster and doesn't use up your data. use it
does anybody else have a discord server thats only yourself and nobody else exclusively used to send images from your mobile phone to your tablet or computer
#i used to use my gf's chats for this its living in the dark ages. literally there is no reason to be doing it this way#there might be other options but this one has full cross platform support and linux is what i use so this is what i like.

y'know... I spent 5ish years playing games that had a raytracing option if you were on dx12 without raytracing, because windows 7, and not really feeling like i was missing out. but man. I think i get the hype now
#outlaws is significantly less stable on linux than on ps5 but i keep failing to just play it on ps5 because holy SHIT it's pretty#(idk what I'm going to do about the dlc since i'm certainly not buying that again. just suffer i guess)#chi plays outlaws#chi liveblogs#like i always thought the visual difference between platform and pc was mainly only relevant for like screenarchers#or people who played on big tvs or w/e#i guess my poor old windows was struggling more than it let on... 😢

Saviorless: The First Major Indie Title from Cuba with an International Publisher

Saviorless captivating story driven 2D platformer game is coming to Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. Thanks to the skilled folks at Empty Head Games for their hard work and creativity. Due to make its way onto Steam soon. Saviorless is due to release on April 2nd, 2024, and it's developed by Empty Head, a Cuban indie studio. Published by Dear Villagers, this release marks a huge milestone. Why? It's the first major indie title from Cuba to team up with an international publisher. Let's dive into what makes Saviorless stand out on Linux. First off, the visuals are all hand-drawn, bringing a dark, fantasy vibe that's both unique and intriguing. You're going to be exploring the Smiling Islands, which, despite the name, are anything but cheerful. Think nightmarish monsters and eerie landscapes – the kind of stuff that makes for a memorable experience. You'll play as Antar, The Savior, and Nento, delving into a story that's as broken as it is fascinating. It's more than just progressing through levels; you're piecing together a tale that's scattered across the game. This isn't your typical story approach, and that's what makes it so much more engaging.
Saviorless - Release date announcement
youtube
Here's what's even more impressive – the journey to get Saviorless out there. We're talking about eight years of hard graft, through ups and downs, like budget issues and even a trademark conflict. The team even faced the loss of a key member, which could have derailed everything. But they pushed through, with Dear Villagers' support, to create something that's not just a new title – it's a labor of love. You're not just playing a new title here; you're unraveling a mystery. Those nightmarish monsters? They're in your way, and you've got to deal with them. The story isn't handed to you on a plate either; you'll find bits and pieces as you explore. Due to add more depth to your adventure. The impact of Saviorless goes beyond entertainment. This story driven 2D platformer is a symbol of resilience and creativity, showing that even under tough conditions, remarkable things can happen in the gaming world. So, whether you're on Linux, Mac, or Windows PC, dive into the Smiling Islands. It's not just another title to add to your collection; it's a whole new world to lose yourself in. Keep an eye out on April 2nd on Steam.

Node package Manager
Native to nodejs installation is npm itself. Its is very robust and get's the job done. But there is a better option. I would not say limitations of native npm is overcome by pnpm and its predecessor yarn. There are added features to npm and not necessarily limitations. I was using yarn until last month when I run into a codebase the was configured with pnpm. I have since used it for any project I have developed. To install pnpm you can visit their documentation, my prefered way is to use powershell or chocolately. Now chocolately or choco is an option when installing nodejs, if you did not install it then use the powershell command.
Visit pnpm and install using your preferred method.
Powershell command - Invoke-WebRequest https://get.pnpm.io/install.ps1 -UseBasicParsing | Invoke-Expression
Chocolately command - choco install pnpm
If you have to install a package manager then get chocolately or sccop. These will allow you to run an upgrade command when there is an update
