Okay, I’m gonna talk about the movie, so spoiler warning.

If you haven’t, I would highly recommend seeing the movie. It was something truly special. If you have, talk to me in the comments! I’d love to know what other people think. Be kind please.

Ok...

I just loved the movie so much. I’m so glad they expanded it out. Like the scene in the village and with kiss the girl. I was melting. Ariel and Eric are just so cute together. I loved when Ariel is trying to get Eric to guess her name. Just every time they were together it was so real, and in the end where Eric is still longer for her even under the spell. 

I really loved how it opened the dark above water transitioning into the vibrant sea, and then the mermaids singing just gave me goosebumps. Halle was the perfect Ariel her voice gave me chills every time she sang.

I personally loved her song as she coms into land when it’s such a huge build up only for Eric to now know her and it slowly falls apart. I felt that. 

It’s not that in the original the relationship was bad, but it’s just so much stronger here. I even got butterflies from watching them together, such wonderful chemistry. 

I also loved watching Ariel wander in the shopping district seeing her interact with all these new things was wonderful. Even the kiss the girl scene was a lot more magical, in my option, than the animated. Seeing them in Eric's room of collections was also so cute with how she was teaching him new things. Then him saying “my little mermaid,” I just melted. 

One thing I was worried about was when I heard about the amnesia thing. I thought they’d completely wipe her thoughts about Eric, but it was only about getting a kiss. I didn’t mind it at all. Seeing them together was so cute. From them looking at maps together, and then to looking up at the stars. It was just so cute watching them interact more. 

I thought that Ursula was also wonderful, Melissa McCarthy was really funny. I didn’t mind the changes to Poor unfortunate soul either. I still thought it was very powerful. Speaking of which, changing the contract to a scaled sealed in blood was a creative change. Also, King Tritons death had me in shock. Literally turned him into a skeleton and sink to the bottom on the ocean. 

Going back to the music, I really liked the new songs added. Especially Eric's song. Jonah Hauer-King put his heart and soul into it I could tell. Gave me chills just like Halle. 

I also liked how Ariel fights Ursula at the engagement. When she got her voice back I felt my heart rate spike. I loved that scene. 

As for the ending, I liked Ariel saving Eric. Some people seemed to take issue, but I liked the change. Her fighting to get to the wheel was so intense even when you know what will happen. Also Ursula's giant form was so cool. Even if it was dark it was so foreboding. 

Then there's King Triton coming to Ariel and Eric at the end. I cried. Just seeing such a sweet moment between father and daughter was just so sweet. With the mermaids and humans coming together I couldn’t not cry. 

There’s probably so much more I could say. I love this movie and I think it’s become my new favorite. But I’ve already said so much. Please be nice in the comments. 💖

Eric: And your plan, when spotting something that could potentially be a mermaid, and thus one of this all-powerful king's subjects or, god forbid, one of his daughters...is to stab it with a harpoon?

I know everyone is shitting on the live action flounder and I get it BUT I remember when this was going around and I'm honestly just SO thankful this was a hoax:

THE LITTLE MERMAID: RAMBLE (Spoilers)

- The CGI wasn't actually to bad in this movie. It wasn't the best, but it was far from terrible.

-I wasn't a big fan of Ariel's sisters having their names changed, also them getting rid of their song

- I like that they gave more depth to Prince Eric's character.

- It makes him more likeable than Prince Eric from the first movie.

-Cause in the live action, he was adopted by the royal family when he was wased up by a shipwreck, and although he didn't want to rule like his adopted father, he still wanted the best for his people.

- TRIDENT AND URSULA ARE SIBLINGS CONFIRMED!!!!!

- I loved how they made it so that both Ariel and Eric loved and were curious about the world's that the other one came from.

-And both their parents forbidding it because they were scared for their child's safety.

-It all in all made it feel like a Romeo and Juliet story. Two people from opposite worlds growing a close bond over their similar unhappy situations

- Where is chef Loui!?!?!

- Puppy Max Supremacy!!!! 😍 ♥️ ❤️ 💕 💖

-I like how they did a doc-ock effect with Ursula: having her tentacles have a mind of their own.

-Ursula just came down in a bubble, Glenda, the good witch style

- It was cute how Aruel used the stars that Eric was showing her to help him find her name

- And the whole town travel day was absolutely adorable and I loved it so much

- It was also nice how they didn't put Eric completely under Ursula's spell.

-Seeing him having an internal struggle about how now that he's (supposedly) found the girl that he's been looking for, he doesn't know what he wants.

- He's in the struggle of choosing the girl who (supposedly) saved his life, and the girl who he got to bond with, grow a connection with, and share this mutual and caring understanding with.

-Vanessa (Aka Ursula) and Ariel just had a straight-up fist fight!

- They straight up just killed Triton!

-Instead of turning him into one of those garden things, Ursula actually just freaking kills him!

- Oh, never mind, They got him back.

- It was nice to see that at the end of the movie, both parents apologized to their children.

- I especially loved the apology from Triton. How he said that Ariel never should have had to lose her voice in order to be heard.

- And the movie ended with both Ariel and Eric off to travel tye world with one another.

- And making a new era of peace between humans and Merfolk

- So yeah, all in all, I would say that it's definitely one of Disney's better Live action adaptations

No shade to the live action adaptation of cinderella, i love that movie but if you only care about accuracy when it comes to skin color than you need to shut the fuck up.

My Thoughts On The Little Mermaid Live Action — The Scuttlebutt

It’s not so bad.

The Scuttlebutt didn’t feel so out of place. Out of context it feels weird but with the context not so much. Because Scuttles mostly blabbers in the movie.

The rap wasn’t bad in my opinion.

Also, I found Daveed Diggs’ (he voices Sebastian in the live action) rap at the end of the song to hype up Ariel to get ready to be kinda similar to Daveed Diggs role in Hamilton as Lafayette when he was telling Washington to get his right hand man back for the war. If this was intentional, it felt like a nice reference.

I just got back from watching the live action little mermaid.

I simply do not have the words to explain how much I adored the movie. Every time they broke into song I got full body goosebumps. Especially when Halle bailey would sing, her voice is so hauntingly beautiful! 

I was so worried that it would be like the other remakes but it really blew me out of the water, no pun intended. I’ve never had a movie make me feel so much. I even had to hand flap at some points because I was just so happy. 

I truly hope this motivates some of you to go see it. You will not be disappointed. It’s not just a cut and paste of the original. It has it’s own charm to it that makes it its own. I laughed, I cried, and it had moments that had me at the edge of my seat. I really don't have any negative things to say, I’m just so happy to have gotten to see such a wondaful movie. 

The colors are vibrant, the songs are beautiful, and the story was expanded into something truly magical. 💖

No pink dress slander it's cute and all and references the og three princesses. But her advertisement dress is way too gorgeous for it to never be used
