like don't get me wrong it is 100% absolutely sad what's happening with the Titanic submersible and condolences to the families who have to pick up the pieces from this. but if you paid a quarter of a million dollars to get on an untested tube of claustrophobia named Titan made with over the counter camper parts that is literally held together with bolts and prayers and is controlled by a fucking knockoff Xbox controller, all with the intention of further disturbing a hundred year old gravesite with worse visuals than if you just looked at pictures on your phone, you absolutely sent yourself to your death. You asked for that shit. You literally signed your death warrant.

Titanic wants to be left to rest and she is proving that in any way necessary. If they even find that rust bucket it's going to be at the bottom of the ocean in her corpse, left to corrode with the rest of the graves.

So, for those who haven't seen it, the full BAFTA opening monologue of David's with a Staged-inspired sketch is now online! You can watch the entire sketch on Youtube here.

I did, of course, absolutely have to make a clip of the moment with David and Michael at the end, in person at the theatre, because it is just...it is the most married thing I have seen in a very, very long time:

Like...this truly feels like boyfriend/husband/some sort of long-term couple bickering. And I'm not referring to the words (which I'm assuming were prewritten, since this was a bit?), but the energy between them. Even the way David and Michael feign annoyance with each other is so underpinned with affection that it fills your heart nearly to bursting. It's so completely domestic and soft and I really do wonder if the people in the audience (at least the non-UK industry folks) understood what the hell was happening and what we were witnessing here. Amazing.

Also, to your point about the members of the cast in the sketch, it is certainly strange (and noticeable) to see who was in the clip and who wasn't. AL's absence was made especially glaring by the fact that she was not seated next to Michael during the sketch, either (though from what I have been told, they were sitting next to each other for the remainder of the broadcast). So I'm not sure what was going on here, but the choices were definitely choice-ing.

In any case, I am beyond delighted that we not only got a Michael reference/appearance at the BAFTAs, but that it happened so early on, and that he was so prominent in the bit. I'd love to hear from my followers as well about your thoughts on the opening sketch, so please feel free to chime in in the comments!

“There the Gibbelins Lived and Discreditably Fed” by Sidney H Sime, from Lord Dunsany’s story “The Hoard of the Gibbelins” in The Book of Wonder, 1912. This is the tale of a knight who becomes obsessed with seeking the treasures of some man-eating creatures who live at the edge of the world. “Alas that I should say of so perilous a venture, undertaken at dead of night by a valorous man, that its motive was sheer avarice!”

The next story in the this collection is “How Nuth Would Have Practised His Art Upon the Gnoles” in which two thieves go into the gnoles’ forest to steal their emeralds.

Lord Dunsany’s most important influence on D&D probably isn’t his vaguely described fairy tale monsters, but his greedy human characters who travel to the homes of nonhuman creatures to steal from them, often coming to a bad end. D&D originally awarded characters 1 experience point per 1 gold piece looted, as well as for defeating monsters, prompting players to follow the examples of Lord Dunsany’s adventurous thieves and seek ever greater riches in more dangerous lairs.

Okay okay because we all know the last episode is called “the Calvary has Arrived” here’s my idea as to what’s going to happen…

Hunter, Wrecker, and Crosshair finally get the coordinates to tantiss curtesy of clone x (tech) he broke his conditioning or they capture him and discoverer it’s him. Either way he plays a critical role in recovering omega. Echo and Rex and howzer and all the other clones help because it’s tantiss, it’s the one place they want to know where it is, it’s important. They storm the base yada yada yada and boom hemlock is there, but at this point project necromancer (whatever it is) is almost or already complete because they have omega and she’s a key part in it. Something blows up and of course anyone of the batch is in the line of fire except another batcher, whoever it is. And they won’t let another one of their own go so soon. Either way someone’s going to either almost get hurt or get hurt and another one is going to sacrifice themselves or get left behind (as is customary with bb endings).
