Lucky has been with me a long time, treasured gift. She’s been in my home office for the last year and today I am really feeling her magic. 

During that time I have been periodically teaching a workshop about the best practices for the work I do. Now, two weeks into my new gig I am getting to actually practice what I preach!

Something I’ve been looking for a long time, and it took a long time to get it. The biggest most important thing I learned was to start taking action on my ideas. And to start talking to people and trying things.

The first time I did the workshop I thought I was going to puke, even though it was a virtual one. Now I speak with great confidence and passion because I got better every time I did one.

This confidence has prepared me for the opportunity I have in front of me now. Amazing how the universe works!

Can You Forgive Yourself?

I've been bringing this Hawaiian mantra of forgiveness into my classes this week, asking students at the beginning of class to envision someone they might be having a hard time with currently, someone who pushes their buttons, and direct this prayer toward them. It's been a powerful practice for myself as I've been using it since a healer friend of mine posted about it last week. And it's also helped me out during class if I forgot part of a sequence in the second side or made students hold a challenging pose for longer than they'd probably like: I'm sorry, please forgive me, thank you, I love you. It's gotten a good amount of chuckles from yogis this week. But what I've found especially powerful is when I direct these words to myself. Can I apologize to myself for all the mean things I say to myself, for not thinking highly enough of myself, for constantly comparing myself to others? Can I be grateful for who I truly am? For my unique gifts and talents and energy? Can I love myself just as I am? Not to take away the art and practice of forgiving others, but when we forgive ourselves we're letting ourselves off the hook for all the coulda shoulda wouldas that seem to be playing on an unending loop in our heads. It helps us to let go, to find acceptance and restore harmony within, to really love and shower that loving kindness on our No. 1: Ourselves ❤️💛💚💙💜
