consider: suyin is sokka’s kid, but sokka still ends up with zuko. i like to call this “the beifongs have a healthy relationship with their family au”

first of all, after Lin’s father left Sokka picked up kind of a father figure role for Lin too

So he refers to himself as both of their dad

Izumi writes letters to her stepsisters and they’re all pen pals

If someone is picking on Lin or Suyin, and “my mom is the chief of police” doesn’t work, “my stepdad is the firelord” always shuts the bullies up

both Lin and Suyin have rooms in the castle, with all their own furniture and decorations and everything

they’re also in the same hallway as Izumi’s room, so they have a lot of sleepovers growing up

Toph is perfectly capable of handling her kids on her own but it is helpful to have Sokka around

he’s the one who sparks Suyin’s interest in collecting meteorites

Izumi doesn’t see a lot of earth or metal bending on a regular basis, so she absolutely loves hanging out with her sisters

Zuko and Lin often watch Sokka and Suyin be chaotic from the sidelines, as the more chill counterparts

When Suyin cut Lin’s face, Zuko tried to make her feel better with the “let’s start a club for people whose family have scarred them in the face” joke
