This has been going through my mind a lot lately. It's such a devastating reply to wield against assholes, bad-faith arguers, and the fucking fun police (aka puritanical busybodies, terves, and fascists).

I got fired from my new(ish) job 10 days ago. I loved the little group I worked with and a lot of other employees outside of the group. But I was a bad fit for the way the company wanted things done. I wasn't methodical enough, organized enough, or fast enough. I got written up for the things I did to address the problems they wrote me up for in the first place, and I didn't even think to push back on anything they said, even though I was literally using their methods to try and "improve." My last week there, my supervisor pretty much acted like I didn't exist. Which made me think that maybe, just maybe all the maximum effort I was putting in was finally paying off. Boy, did I feel extra dumb walking out of the office on Friday. Getting the silent treatment now makes me think they made the decision to let me go even before my probation period was up. I was am devastated.

Even though the job (technically the employees) gave me some weird this feels wrong vibes from my first week. At least it was better than my last job, which was pretty abusive from the get go, that I just kept tolerating and working around, for many years.

Cue me using all of last week to not get out of bed but also to go through all 5 stages of grief in random order (with the support of my partner). Financially we're okay. Mentally I've had my entire (tiny) stock of confidence in myself pulled out from under me, and my depression, which was slowly starting to lessen with me having a job, hit some new lows. Do you know how shameful it feels to talk to people who ask me about my job that I got fired? I don't either. I've just avoided talking to anyone who isn't either my bestie or living in my house (a whole two people).

But that picture up there, that particular quote, from a website I used to enjoy that got hijacked by a real life Justin Hammer, those words, now try saying something true and beautiful kept rattling around in my head.

I've been avoiding food. Feeling shaky because of low blood sugar feels better than feeling like I was so wrong blind about how things were going at my job.

My partner was away at a convention all weekend, so I got to be alone with myself in a way I don't often get to. No agenda, no plans, no putting everyone else first to allow me to neglect myself, just doing what I wanted when I wanted. It was great, because my life was finally quiet enough for me to hear what I wanted to do (or not do).

I left all my work crap in my car for most of the week. I brought my office plant into the house and saw it had a post it note stuck in the dirt. It had a phone number I thought I'd forgotten to get.

I cried.

I went to the grocery store to get one thing that my brain allowed me to eat (an ethnic cookie). I also bought a bunch other stuff, anything my brain even perked up a little bit at the thought of. I was debating fast food options while at the market, and once I was out, I decided not to think about it anymore and just go get the Loki Season 2 meal from the drive through. It's been so long since I just-- ordered a combo, the cashier had to ask me if I wanted a Coke. Yep. Large? Yep. So I got my two packets of Loki-show branded sweet and sour sauce.

<Kronk voice>And I drank most of that there Coca Cola fountain drink at 3pm in the afternoon. The one with the real sugar in it. The kind of soda I don't normally drink. You know, one that had more caffeine in that serving than I'd had over the entire month before. The quantities of caffeine I usually avoid.

And then came the ideas. There were plot bunnies that I didn't just sit around and dream about. There was writing. There was some rewriting. There was more writing. I was up until 3 or so. Lay in bed until about 8:30 am continuing to work (but on my phone) Came out and put it on my laptop, kept going all day yesterday until 2am, and started again today until I felt about 80 percent done with the barf-it-all-out-on-the-page kind of writing and 20 percent done with the snap-all-the-pieces-onto-the-timeline-slash-grid editing.

I noticed that my writing is both architectural and garden-like at the same time. Like an espaliered apple tree.

(I think that's an apple tree.) You can make trees do tricks like this, and they'll produce hella more fruit in way less space, but only if you train it on a grid or wires or a lattice from a very young age. Every year the tree branches get a little bigger and a little longer, and you bend them carefully until they go the way you have planned. It's fussy. It takes time and regular attention (exactly the way my brain doesn't work).

But I can throw a few sentences on a page, keep going, look up at what came before and see that it needs a few words added in here and there, keep going, look up again and add a few more words in other places, again and again, etcetera, ad nauseum. Start at the top and do it all again. It's cool to see my sentences grow like that.

Should I say that acquiring The Loki Sauce cured my writer's block? It would be irresponsible to. But I think I will anyway.

I just want to reflect how much the Loki show ruined Loki as a character for me and how much disheartened I was with it.

I had always wanted a spinoff on him, which explored him more. And the Loki show did anything but that.

Do you guys remember how Loki was in Infinity War for like 5 minutes, yet Tom Hiddleston was at almost every media interaction the cast had? The same thing happened in the show as well. They used him to market the show, then sidelined him in his own show. I think that was unacceptable, because they used Loki as a bait to promote a character that I held no emotions for.

Sylvie.

The argument that one does not like Sylvie because they “hate a strong female character/a character with complex arcs” is so pathetic. I don’t think I would’ve liked Sylvie even if she had the most elaborate arc in the MCU (which she doesn’t) because it just wasn’t meant to be about her.

I wanted to see Loki’s story, his journey, and if you take this moment to interject with the statement that “she’s Loki too, just different”, then I say that I wanted to see our Loki, the one who was broken when he found out that he was the monster parents told their children about at night, the one who had plethora of iconic dialogues while fighting the avengers, who was killed only for us to realize that he wasn’t.

Everytime I said that we needed a Loki spinoff before it was announced was not because I wanted new characters, it was because I wanted to see more of the character that was already there, very much beloved by the fans. I wanted them to explore his character in a deeper sense and maybe dip a little into mythology as well.

I think Loki was one of those characters that neither needed a love interest nor was ready for one. I don’t ship him with either Sylvie or Mobius, because it feels like neither of them genuinely like Loki for who he is.

Loki had far more compelling things they could have explored like his jotun heritage, his trauma from the time with Thanos and his magic that is the only memory he has of Frigga instead of his love life.

The whole show felt like it was written by someone who wasn’t the least bit interested in Loki and barely looked into him before creating his female counterpart.

It feels like a disrespect for the fans who were connected to Loki on an emotional level.

Why am I saying this now, after like 2 years since the show came out?

I don’t know, after hearing the news about season 2 releasing in October, I just feel so upset. Tired. I hate this show much because it made Loki so irrelevant to me. A sidepiece in his own show. He went around in ugly costumes and all the regal vibes I had from him just disappeared.

I still remember a time when Loki was on the top of my favorite characters, and I loved him so much. I still do, but I’m not sure if I’ll watch the 2nd season and my 13 y/o self would hate me for this.

I’ve gotten detached from his character and I hate myself for it because Loki was someone whom I adored more than anything else in the fandom world.

Loki is that one character who is loved by the fanon but absolutely despised by the canon.

- His show didn’t have showrunners that actually knew about or cared about his character

- The original script he was given was blacklisted in 2018

- Kate Herron said that they ‘made things up as they went along.’

- They wanted to ‘knock Tom down a notch’ in order to let Sylvie shine. I recall Taika saying a similar thing in relation to Ragnarok and even Feige removed him from Age of Ultron due to his ‘insane acting skills.’ 🙄

- Apparently Chris Hemsworth is ‘sick of Loki’ and said that he’s like a “clingy ex-girlfriend who can’t take the hint that it’s done, it’s over.”

- Taika Waititi said that Loki outshined Thor before so he wanted to stop that from happening.

- Taika wanted to put Loki in a porta potty:

- Most of his scenes from the movies were deleted

WE CARE MORE ABOUT KANG AND THE TVA, YOUR ‘CHARACTER’ IS JUST A PLACE HOLDER NOW!”

- They made him look older and less appealing in the show than he does irl. Look at him in some shots in the show then see him behind the scenes! The makeup, lighting and angles were unflattering at times! They even managed to remove that sparkle in his eye in the show but it was there behind the scenes!

- The director of S1, Kate Herron said that it was wanted Sophia/Sylvie to ‘knock Tom Hiddleston down a notch.’

The director of S2, Aaron Moorhead said ‘Why don’t you just go away?’

Lokean Holidays

With holiday season coming up across all cultures, I have decided to do a little something in honor of one of my own dedicated deities — Loki. Following the holiday theme (and looking forward to one of my favorite Loki festivals), today's post is all about Loki-specific holidays.

I will start off by saying that He does not have any known traditional holidays. We have no surviving evidence of any Loki-specific Holidays, and few evidence of Loki even being worshipped in ancient times.

So keep in mind these are all modern holidays that many lokeans (those who follow Loki) have adopted.

It's also important to note that not every lokean follows all, if any of these.

And lastly, I won't mention any of the usual norse pagan holidays, but you can definitely still honor Loki on those alongside other norse deities. It's just that they are not specific to him.

Loki Fool's Day

April 1st

This was probably one of the first lokean holidays created, in honor of Loki as a Trickster and deity of Mischief.

It was proposed by Dagulf Loptson in his book "Playing with Fire", but I believe many of Loki's followers already thought of Loki during April Fool's before that.

Lokabrenna

July – August (roughly)

The star Sirius was known to the norse people as Lokabrenna ("burning done by Loki", "Loki's torch"). The star would be gone for one half of the year, so when it reappeared at its highest point, that would be the date of Lokabrenna. Because of the connection to Loki's name, the day of Lokabrenna became a modern lokean holiday.

The date varies because it's connected to when the star Sirius shows up in the sky, so it depends on location.

In the southern hemisphere, Sirius can be seen throughout the year. In this case, Lokabrenna can be celebrated when it shows during both morning and evening, rising with the Sun.

You can adopt a date between the beginning of July to the end of August for convenience.

Loki's Holiday

December 13th

This holiday was proposed by Dagulf Loptson in his book "Playing with Fire".

This is because, on Dec 13th in Scandinavia, there is the feast of St. Lucia and the festival of light, which would symbolize the coming of light in the midst of darkness.

In his book Loptson states that he had asked Loki if there was a special day he could celebrate him, and the answer was Dec 13th, which he later learned was the day of St. Lucia.

So yes, this is the author's UPG, but it was widely adopted by the community.

In scandinavian countries the date also used to mark the Winter Solstice. As the longest night of the year, it was believed that all sorts of foul creatures would roam the earth, and the bringing of light could symbolize safety and the hope of warmer days to come.

While Loki and Lucia may not be directly related, they share a relation in the sense that they may come as "light bearers". Thus, many lokeans find it fitting to honor Loki on this day.

Ideas:

Celebrate the coming of light and Loki as a deity that brings fire, warmth and light

Give gingerbread treats, cakes, cookies, sweets, etc, as offerings

Celebrate with other Lokeans!

Loki and Sigyn — 4th Day of Yule

December 23th

There is actually very little information on this holiday and how it came to be, and not many lokeans celebrate it.

So you may take this with a grain of salt.

From what I could find this one is actually tied to celebrating the 4th day of Yule and it honors both Loki and Sigyn.

It is a day to celebrate love (especially queer love) and devotion, as Sigyn loved Loki unconditionally, despite everything that he did and that had happened to him.

Supposedly, it also coincides with Saturnalia (Roman holiday, Dec 17th-23th), a day where social order is turned upside down — which is very much a Loki thing to do, as demonstrated in Lokasenna.

That said, I personally don't think the correlation with Saturnalia fits most heathens' practice. But Sigyn and Loki's relationship is highly defined by Her actions after Lokasenna, so I can see how you could make a connection.

Do healing work and cleansing rituals

Celebrate Loki and Sigyn's union

“y/n, so how have you been? you recently finished filming the barbie movie, right?” the screams that the audience did made you chuckle while nodding your head.

the day for the date finally came and you were buzzing with excitement. the night before, you did a fashion show for sadie and picked out an outfit. settling on a pair of light washed ripped mom jeans, a white and black oversized sweater and your black nike air max 95’s.

“okay babes, i’ll be here with loki. call me if you need anything,” sadie hugs you and pushed you towards the door.

“i love you sads!” you yell out to her quickly before making sure you had everything in your tote bag and running out the door.

you make your journey on the subway to central park. it wasn’t long but that didn’t stop you from reading your book on the train with some music playing in your ears. once the train stopped at your stop, you got off and went to text percy.

you looked up from your phone to see the long brown haired boy looking left and right across the street. you quickly began raising your arm in a waving before he found you. the smile that graced his face was truly a sight to see. he jogs over to you and immediately pulls you into a hug.

“hi stranger,” you looked up at him returning the smile he had.

“hi stranger. let’s go take a walk and get some food, yeah?”

“i’m okay with that.” you guys walk into the park and followed the long trail.

“so i hear i’m your celebrity crush,” you laughed while looking down at your shoes.

“yeah, is it weird for you?”

“weird? why would it weird to have a pretty girl say that i’m her celebrity crush?” percy nudged your arm with his. “if anything, i’d say the feeling is mutual now.”

“percy, you can’t be serious.”

“oh i’m absolutely serious. you’re very pretty and talented as hell.” you looked down with a smile on your face again.

“you’re pretty too,” you gaze up at him to see his face with a blush adoring his cheeks.

the two of you continued the walk just talking about any and everything. your arms kept brushing besides each other before you made the move to interlock your hands together. percy didn’t seem to mind it briefly squeezing your hand.

“what we thinking for food percy?”

“burgers and fries?”

“you had me at a burger,” peering up at him with a grin, leading him to subway station entrance for the b train.

“i know this really good burger place but it’s around rockefeller center if that’s okay.”

“i’m down for it. i honestly dread for when the night has to end,” he rubs his thumb over your hand making you look down again. you’ve never felt this connected to someone in such a short amount of time. little did you know percy felt the same way, he was drawn to you and he liked this newfound feeling.

you tugged his hand and walked down the subway entrance stairs. once you both swiped your metro cards, you leaned on his shoulder with your arms around one of his waiting for the train to come. unbeknownst to the both of you, a couple of fans had silently spotted you guys and decided to start taking secret pictures.

the dinner was nice and you had enjoyed his presence. percy even paid for both you and him but you told him the next time that you were paying. he was the perfect gentleman and you knew just from one date that you were definitely going to fall harder than before.

“i had a great time with you percy.” you said while holding hands just like earlier in the day.

“i had a great time with you too. i’m not sure i want to the night to end.” he looks into your eyes with that beautiful dimpled smile. just as you were about to respond, you felt water drops on your head.

“did you feel that?”

“feel what?”

the rain started coming down heavier making you squeal. percy is quick to firmly tighten the hand that was holding yours to run with you to find shade from the rain. once finding shade under a building entrance, you guys were soaked with water head to toe. laughter and heavy breathing was all that was heard from the two of you.

“that’s so cliché!”

“what it raining in the middle of our date?”

“yes percy. it felt like one of those romance movies,” you were looking around watching the rain pour down. percy had turned his attention to you just staring at you thinking about how pretty you looked.

“wanna make it even more cliché?”

“huh?” you turned back to him finding his face dangerously close to yours. when did he even move closer? not that you were complaining.

“can i kiss you y/n?”

“yes.”

he places both of his hands on your cheeks tilting your head upwards pulling you into a kiss. it started off slow then gradually got more intense. your fingers tangled into his wet hair pulling ever so slightly to push him more to you. the kiss was mainly teeth and tongue as you guys desperately consume each other. in that very moment nobody else mattered. just two souls that were drawn towards one another with a kiss that seemed to confirm every feeling even if it was only one day.

You tried to get up as gently as you could, without waking him up but as soon as you shuffled a little the only response you got was a protesting groan and a muffled 'not yet' from your husband as his grip on you tightened, causing a smile to rise up your face, he is a literal baby sometimes and you loved him for that. You and Tom had to attend an event today, The Tonight Show. For the promotion of the Loki series.

Ah, the set of Loki season one, that was the place where you two first met and became really, really good friends though you couldn't help but be attracted to the handsome Brit each passing day you spent with him, too insecure to make the first move, scared that you'll lose him completely.

That was until one night he finally confessed his true feelings for you and you both started a relationship, and then engaged ....here, allow me to give you a little glimpse of it

The sun began to set over the picturesque backdrop of a secluded beach, casting a warm golden glow on the sand. Tom took a deep breath, his heart pounding with nervous excitement. He had been waiting for this moment for what felt like an eternity. As the waves gently crashed against the shore, he reached into his pocket, his fingers brushing against the small velvet box nestled inside. His mind raced with all the carefully rehearsed words he wanted to say, but in that moment, everything else faded away as his eyes met the love of his life, you.

As he dropped down on one knee, a sense of anticipation filled the air. The world seemed to hold its breath as he opened the velvet box, revealing a radiant diamond ring that sparkled as brilliantly as the love that illuminated his eyes.

"My love, I....I've been captivated by you since the moment we met on the set of Loki. Your beauty, grace, and intelligence have completely enthralled me. You have never, never, felt this excited before...it was a week ago that you found out that you were pregnant... surreal, isn't it? Today...well... tomorrow.. but it was almost 10 pm so.. back to the topic, tomorrow was the day you two first started a relationship, two years... two best years.. you two met on the set of season one and now, you two were shooting Loki season two and Loki, oops, Tom. Tom was your husband,

Tom was currently out for pre- anniversary celebration with his friends. 5 and a half months since you got married and 2 years and 1 month and 16 days since you had your first kiss / started a relationship and exactly 10 months and 4 days since he proposed you.

Everything happened so fast but even if you both took years to think, the outcome would have come the same, you belonged with him and he belonged with you.

The sound of the main door opening pulled you out of your thoughts, and you started your little plan, you were wearing his favourite dress. "Darling, I'm home" you heard a baritone you knew way too well. You hid your smirk and walked towards the door.

"I'm here, my love" you called. His jaw almost hit the floor as he saw you "My love, you ... I don't have words to describe how gorgeous you look, as always. You never fail to leave me speechless. Pray tell, is there any specific reason for this heavenly sight?" he said, ending his words with a smirk causing you to blush "Oh, come on. Maybe, maybe not. Just wanted to give my darling husband a sight to enjoy" said you, walking towards him.

He wrapped his arm around your waist, pulling you closer and into a loving kiss "Happy anniversary, my love. I can't believe we started this two years ago and now, we're here, married. It all happened so fast..." said he

"Happy anniversary to you too, darling. Indeed, it happened fast...but it was and is perfect. I have a surprise for you" his eyes lit up as a child's when you said this "Really!? Thank you, my love! I really am excited!" then, you took him to the living room where a beautifully packed gift box, which was blue in colour and had a crimson bow on top was kept. "Go on, love. Open it" he wasted no time in opening the box.

He honestly was a bit confused when he saw a pair of baby boots, the same as his favourite ones and a mini scarf, the scarf. Yes, the Loki one. You were just standing in front of him, admiring how adorable he looked. His eyes widened to the size of the couch when he saw a positive pregnancy test inside it. "Darling?" He looked at you in pleasent surprise. You gave him a nod of confirmation "Yes.." "Oh, my love..." tears of joy flooded his eyes and yours as he practically rushed towards your side, wrapping you in a warm embrace.

"I can't tell you how happy I am. I'm the happiest man on earth to have you by my side and now our little wonder too. I love you, Y/N" he kisses you deeply, pouring all his love in the kiss and then kneeled in front of you, getting face level with your stomach, peppering it with kisses "Hello, my baby. I'm your dada" he cooed, raising up after a minute and pressing a kiss on your forehead. "We're going to be parents" you said once you found your voice "It's surreal..."

"How're you feeling, my love?" Your husband's voice pulled you out of your thoughts "Great, sweetheart. The team must be coming for the dress up for today's event" "Right as always, darling" in no longer than 5 minutes, the team was there....

Your makeup was perfect, so was the dress, it was light blue in colour, completing Tom's blue suit. And now, it was time for the event

"Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome upon the stage, MCU's beloved couple, everyone's favourite, Tom and Y/N Hiddleston!!"

The audience burst into a huge round of applause as you and Tom entered the stage with grace, exchanging plesantries before sitting on the couch "First of all very many congratulations on your wedding. May you both experience millions of moments of this eternal flame of love" said your host, Jimmy Fallon. "Thank you so much, Jimmy, really." you said with a low chuckle.

"So, before we begin talking about the Loki series... there are rumours that you guys are expecting baby Hiddleston"

This time, Tom took his turn "They are correct, we are indeed expecting a baby and I couldn't be happier" "Uh-huh" you ended his sentence placing a hand on your baby bump and earning a burst of applause and hoots

"Really?! That is Great! I'm so happy for you both" "Thank you so much, buddy"

Loki Season 2's Press Tour Is Continuing Without Tom Hiddleston & Co.

The ongoing Hollywood strikes have made an impact on the promotion of Disney+’s Loki Season 2.

The fan-favorite Asgardian trickster Loki, as portrayed by Tom Hiddleston, will return for another season imminently. A second run for his self-titled Disney+ show hits in early October.

The Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild have been on strike for months now. A conclusion to these work stoppages doesn’t seem to be on the horizon either, resulting in a wave of delays for several high-profile film and TV projects. 

And, of course, SAG-AFTRA members have also been barred from promoting struck work, per union regulations.

Tom Hiddleston Won’t Be Promoting Loki

Due to the still-ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, the stars of Loki Season 2 will not be permitted to do any press for the show. This includes actors like Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, and Sophia Di Martino. Any members of the WGA, which is also currently striking, will follow suit until a new agreement is reached with the studios.

To counteract this, Marvel Studios has sent Kevin Wright, an executive producer on Loki, to engage with the press and promote the series’ second season. Wright was seen at the recent Destination D23 presentation, where he spoke to attendees about what the God of Mischief will get up to next.

Marvel recently delayed a large swath of its Disney+ projects, including Echo and Daredevil: Born Again. Loki’s release plan, however, remained intact.

When Will the Hollywood Strikes Be Over?

It’s the question on everyone’s mind: when will Hollywood’s writers and actors be back to work? The short answer: no one knows, but potentially not soon.

The longer answer? The Writers Guild of America will keep striking until it makes what it deems is a fair deal with the AMPTP, which is the group through which the film studios negotiate.

The writers have demands that they feel must be met by management, including concerns over pay, residuals, and the use of artificial intelligence.

Only after the WGA has squared up with the studios will the AMPTP open negotiations with SAG-AFTRA.

In August, an offer was extended to the writers, which they promptly blasted as being ”not nearly enough.” Since then, things have been in a holding pattern, and neither side has returned to the bargaining table yet.

Marvel Studios’ Loki Season 2 premieres on Wednesday, October 6.

my opinions on watcher tv

i don't want to sound like a parrot and repeat things others have said so eloquently, but i do have a lot of opinions and questions. i hope you don't mind this post.

first and foremost, i am an artist and creator just like the boys, just like staff at watcher, and just like many watcherinas. i understand everyone who says "we didn't ask for this high quality, overly-produced stuff, we just wanted you". i feel the same way. but as an artist, i would hate having to create stuff that i'm not comfortable with and don't enjoy, just because it makes me money. i would want the freedom to create whatever without having to worry about bills. don't we all?

if ghost files and the production value is what they are satisfied in, i can't then come in and say "just don't do that". it's a creative outlet for them, it's what they want, and it's their creative freedom.

on the other hand, however, i can't imagine how they're spending 100k on per ghost files episode. maybe if they broke it down, more of us would understand where they're coming from? i get plane tickets and hotel rooms are expensive, but if someone would've told me to guess, i would've said maybe 10k-50k per episode. still a lot, but certainly not 100k.

i also understand everyone who says "you have to pay an artist for their work". of course! i am willing to pay, like i said in another post. i've been saving up for a professor plushie for the longest time! but when something doesn't seem worth it, i'm not motivated to pay for it. to me, paying $60/year for a few shows is not something that is viable for me. what is and was viable for me was watching ads, even if they were annoying.

but also, when will the new shows come to their platform? if they're short on money, does that then mean that the new shows won't be on the platform for a while? what's the timeline?

for a big change like this, it would've made more sense for them to ease into it. if they really wanted to have their own streaming service, why remove the shows that we've had access to for years? (and i understand that they're not physically removing the shows, but they're putting every other season on this platform i can't afford). why not keep existing shows on youtube and have other shows (behind the scenes stuff, worth it, etc) on their streaming platform? or even created patreon-exclusive shows?

another big question i have is did they consider other options? right now, it feels like they didn't. they didn't ask "would you be willing to pay more on patreon?" they didn't tell us "hey this isn't financially viable, what would you like to see from us (merch, new shows, exclusive patreon shows)?" they didn't promote their patreon outside of the end of episodes of shows to promote bloopers. i wish they had kept us in the loop about what was happening. i wish they had treated us like the community that they said we were. that's maybe a little parasocial of me, but after all, they're creating content for us (per their words), so wouldn't it make sense to tell us what was going on? idk.

like i said in another post, i was once part of their patreon because i enjoyed the bloopers and behind the scenes. i eventually stopped for a couple of reasons, but mainly because i could no longer afford the $5/month. and this is coming from someone who does not subscribe to multiple different platforms (as i've seen others say; "if you can afford to have multiple different subscriptions you don't need..."). i only subscribe to things that i absolutely love, though for a few months now, i haven't been subscribed to anything because i can't afford it. most of the content i watch is on youtube. i'm not someone who watches shows on the regular, i'm not someone who tunes in to the newest show (still haven't watched euphoria, still haven't watched the new loki season, etc). so paying for something like disney+ would simply be ridiculous for me. i don't have a daily coffee spending budget, i don't subscribe to things, i don't spend money because i cannot afford it. i'm not the only one.

i'm sure they researched the different options, specifically between starting their own streaming service versus joining another existing service. what i feel like they didn't do is research their own audience. even one single youtube poll would've been great.

overall, i just wish they had gone about this differently and had warned us or told us "hey we're thinking of starting a streaming service, what do you guys think?" or something. it's very frustrating to feel like this came out of nowhere. so many watcherinas are coming up with so many creative ideas to make watcher more money, and i'm sure they would've gathered those ideas and taken them to heart had they asked.

but i'm also not going to wish they fail. i also understand that they are their own people with different needs, etc., so i'm not going to send them hate, and should they go through with this decision despite the backlash, i will support them even if i can't participate. it is what it is, and though i will be sad, i can't do anything about it, therefore i won't lose sleep over it.

i hate that everyone is putting the blame on steven. i understand the frustrations of not wanting to watch wealthy men parade their wealth during an economic crisis, then ask for money to do said activities, but he isn't the only one making major decisions. (unless he is and we just don't know?) but the blame shouldn't be put all on him when he had to greenlight it with the others (again, unless he didn't and we just don't know, though i doubt that a lot).

i really hope they succeed. i wish them all the best, i'm just mourning rn lmfao 😭

Tom Hiddleston Says Revisiting Loki Was ‘An Honor,’ Thanks Co-Stars for ‘Chemistry and Inspiration’

Ahead of accepting Variety’s Virtuoso Award at the Miami Film Festival, Hiddleston reflects on previous roles and impactful creative collaboration.

Tom Hiddleston knows “Miami.” That is, all the words to the Will Smith song titled after the famous city — a video of him reciting the lyrics once broke the Internet (not an unusual occurrence for the actor.) That was in 2012 when he was doing press for “The Avengers,” the movie that would change his life and career. It was also the same tour that last brought him to the city — but that was a whirlwind two days of press. “I do recall promoting ‘Avengers’ in Spanish and the city had a great, unique energy,” he says. “I’m really excited to be back as an explorer.”

The British actor will be returning on April 9 to the Miami Film Festival to accept Variety’s Virtuoso Award for his career achievements and will participate in a Q&A at the Adrienne Arsht Center – Knight Concert Hall. Tickets are available here.

And while Miami is known for its food and culture, the actor has one thing on his mind. “What will the weather be like?” he queries of the town’s famously balmy temperatures. “Because I’m coming from the wettest February on record in London’s history.”

Hiddleston admits it’s somewhat ironic to be receiving the Virtuoso Award there, because “when somebody says ‘virtuoso,’ I think of a dazzling soloist in an orchestra, and I feel about as far from that image as it’s possible to imagine.”

He continues: “I am the opposite of a soloist, actually. I always feel like I’m at my strongest in a team. What we do is a collective creative act and the joy of it is in the shared imagination.”

This might explain why his resume is filled with standout ensemble pieces in every genre. Hiddleston’s worked on stage — he earned a Tony nomination for his 2019 Broadway debut in “Betrayal” — the SAG Award-nominated ensemble of “Midnight in Paris,” up through his most current turn as the God of Mischief in Season 2 of the Disney+ series “Loki.”

The second season’s finale, “Glorious Purpose,” remains the highest-rated episode ever in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and brought a conclusion to an epic character arc that has spanned 14 years of Hiddleston’s life. The actor, who also served as producer on both seasons, says it would have been impossible without his “deep bench” of castmates, which includes Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino and Season 2 addition Ke Huy Quan, Oscar-winner for “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”

“I don’t know who said it, but there’s the phrase: ‘If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together,’” he notes. “And it’s never been truer than for this show.”

Community and collaboration are perhaps his favorite aspects of the work. “I truly find the most interesting work I have discovered happens between people. You show up and ready and prepared, but you take that preparation onto the dance floor and see what there is between you. If I’ve done anything of value, it’s because of that chemistry and inspiration I receive from another actor.”

Hiddleston says that team spirit extends to his next project, “The Life of Chuck,” a big-screen adaptation of the Stephen King novella that also stars Karen Gillan, Mark Hamill and Chewitel Ejiofor. “I’m a lifelong tennis fan and I feel like being on set is like playing tennis,” Hiddleston notes. “It’s all about who you’re playing opposite and the energy back and forth between you. And I have some great partners on ‘The Life of Chuck.'”

As for continuing Loki’s story in a third season, it’s a question Hiddleston is asked pretty much every day — several times. “I truthfully don’t know,” he says. “I am so proud of where we landed in Season 2. -Popcorn and other snacks were prepared, blankets and pillows brought out, and smiles all around as your giant adopted family piled into the living room to watch together.

-The only person missing was you, as you were traveling to promote your new movie, but you were due back in about a week, something they were planning on surprising you with a welcome home party with all your favorite foods.

-Brunnhilde dimmed the lights, creating a theatre like experience before sitting next to Buddha, who had Zerofuku in his lap, the younger looking god holding their bowl of popcorn.

-The movie, an action spy movie, started off slow, building up the story as the main character, Agent 777, was gathering intel for a mission, and received orders to meet up with another agent who specialized with espionage and combat.

-When Agent 777 looked trapped by the bad guys, being held at gunpoint, someone threw in a smoke grenade and Loki threw up his hands in a cheer when they saw a pair of legs in tight jeans with combat boots over the top as you entered and cleaned house.

-Watching you in action was so much fun, seeing you fight, ride motorcycles, in a helicopter, and punching the main baddy in the face with a pair of brass knuckles, as he had killed ‘your father’ before blowing up a factory with Agent 777 with fireworks.

-Agent 777 looked at you, “Why are there fireworks?” you just beamed brightly, hands on your hips as you looked so proud of yourself, “I wanted it to be pretty!” laughter filled your home as the movie came to a close, with you and Agent 777 both at a gala ball, with you asking Agent 777 if he was ready to start the next part of the infiltration mission.

-Adam- Adored watching you, he loves watching your movies, feeling so proud of your accomplishments. He was happy you weren’t in a more revealing or sexy outfit like he had seen other actresses in, and he beamed brightly when he saw you using brass knuckles, pointing at the TV in glee. He held Eve in his arms, both of them watching you, happy that you did well and even happier that you would be home soon.

-Hermes- Couldn’t help but feel so much pride, you were a natural, but it was also thanks to years of practicing with Hermes, who was always willing to act out scenes of your favorite movies with you and he knew early on that you were going to be great. Seeing you in such a good movie, playing your role with ease, was so satisfying, and he couldn’t help but laugh when you looked so proud of your fireworks.

-Hades- Was texting you through the movie, as he was sitting in the back, so he wasn’t disturbing anyone, telling you what a good job you did which made you smile, as you were currently on a red-eye flight to Tokyo, happy to hear from him. Hades didn’t say anything, as he was going to show you in the hug he was going to give you, how proud he was of you.

-Buddha- Was like a big kid alongside Zerofuku and Loki, cheering for you when you appeared on screen or did something big. His snacks were gone ten minutes into the movie and it led to his attempted thievery of the snacks of others, which ended in a popcorn fight halfway through the movie. The movie had to be paused, everything cleaned up, and new snacks made to make everyone happy. His snacks only lasted another ten minutes.

-Nikola- Was amazed by the movie, watching it like a big kid, eyes glued to the TV, happily shaking Beelzebub’s arm whenever something big happened which the god thought was rather cute. Nikola began to analyze certain stunts, trying to figure out the science behind how it worked and he actually ended up missing some important parts of the movie which led to Beelzebub answering his questions.

-Loki- Y/N’s Number One Fan and founder of your official fan club! Was your fan before you became famous and you’ve told others who tried to claim that they were your first fan that your family, especially Loki, was actually your first. Cheered for you and got pissed when you got hit in the movie, swearing he would hate the actor who hit you for eternity. Was enjoying the movie until he got into a popcorn fight with Buddha after he tried to steal Loki’s popcorn.

I'm sorry, but that's bullshit.

They didn't even know what the show was going to be about at first, before settling on turning Loki into nothing more than a stepping stone for their TVA/Multiverse/Kang story.

All of the comics material that would have been perfect for an emotional and meaningful reunion between Loki and Thor and they went with none of it. TVA!Loki's barely even mentioned Thor. What about that says having them reunite was "always a priority of the story" and "been the goal of these two seasons"?

On a more personal note, no matter what place TVA!Loki is in emotionally, him reuniting with our current Thor would never hold the same weight for me as IW!Loki reuniting with him.

I couldn't agree more with you. Both Thor and Loki have been ruined pretty much at the same time so a reunion between Taika's Thor and Series' Loki would mean absolutely nothing. They were retconned so heavily that if they brought them back together it would be like seeing two characters who happen to have their same names but are nothing like who they used to be pre-Ragnarok.

And what's worse, knowing how Marvel sees Loki (I haven't forgotten that godawful line Loki said in ep5 about "having betrayed his family and Asgard"), if a reunion between the brothers was ever to happen in the future, I'm 100% sure it would include Loki apologizing profusely for existing + praising Odin + Thor being emotionally cruel to him but eventually forgiving him for being such a troublesome brother.

The goal of those series is to introduce the TVA, nothing else. Whatever they say now it's no more than an attempt to promote S2 by telling the fans they might see Thor and Loki together again.
