Did her senpai even get enough sleep? Chiyori wondered, feeling a faint worry grow in her gut when she was made aware that Suguru-senpai had been dispatched to another mission already. (At least, she knew it wore out her own dad whenever he was sent out to travel in too many back-to-back business meetings).

She had turned up at the guys’ dorms to seek him out, somewhat eager to finally get the chance to show off to him one of the cool new cursed spirits that she’d obtained with the help of Satoru.

Here, she'd run into Yu-senpai, who’d appeared slightly puzzled by her presence, although had abided by her humble request for the whereabouts of Suguru-senpai. He'd informed her that he’d left about less than a minute ago.

With that, the teenage girl had hurried back to the girl’s dorm to fetch the small gift she’d been preparing. She'd planned to hand it to him before his next leaving. Though, she hadn’t expected it to be this soon. Not after he’d just arrived back home.

She’d rushed towards the entrance of the school where she’d managed to catch him within just a hair’s breadth it seemed.

Shyly, she delivered to him the orizuru and as always, he was kind to her when he accepted it. It had her heart swelling with joy.

Though, deep down, Chiyori couldn’t help but think about the insignificance of this gesture. To the world. To her senpai even.

Lately, he was out constantly saving lives while she was staying at home to study or train mainly, and all she could do was to bring him a paper crane.

Of course, she'd been sent out on a few missions herself, but it was always under the supervision of someone older and more experienced. It didn't happen nearly as often either. Not in comparison to Suguru-senpai (or Satoru for that matter).

Though, for her senpai, she mustered a smile as he closed his palms around the good-luck charm she’d folded him.

She glanced up at him as a weak blush crept its way onto her cheeks. She didn’t want to pressure him but told anyways, the words slipping from her almost in an instant. “Suguru-senpai, make sure to get back home quickly, okay?”

Araceli’s brown eyes burn through you as she cups your face as you lay on the ground, heart pounding in your ears from the explosion. Though you can’t die, moments of vulnerability like these, make you wish you could.

The fact that you know she can see you so well, when so many others see through you, is what causes you to pull away from her touch. 

“No,” is all you, Luna, can say. Your own brown eyes are wide as you stare at her, completely confused by the power you just witnessed from her. By how she did it without a moment of exhaustion.

 Though Az has told you of Life, you have never assumed Life, herself, would be your old friend and foe. Swallowing, you have no idea how you feel about this discovery. But you do recall firsts with Ara.

Several firsts even, and suddenly, the anger building within you makes you fall back on the ground, staring up at the cloudy night sky —-

A first kiss by the creek on your home planet. Holding each other as your planet tears itself apart due to so called ‘peace’, when it’s really just greed. A night of laughter and dancing with friends as the fire prickles and she holds the lamb she has always refused to slaughter. 

And when you snap out of your daydream, you wonder where that lamb is. Wonder if it’s gone. If it’s finally been slaughtered. 

“Come on, get up, Loo,” Ara says casually, offering a hand to you, and you finally do sit up slowly and take it. As much as you want to tackle her, you fear her in a way, so you just stand with her assistance.

Then, once on your feet, you look at her, and sigh. “I love you no matter what happens. Don’t ever forget that. But…when did this happen? Why?” you ask her casually, watching as she adjusts her dress and veil.

“Does it matter?” Ara asks, eyebrow arching as she looks at you, arms out in a shrug. “I now am the biggest defender of life. I help abuse victims, mothers, sons, daughters…”

You nod, slowly. “But how? When?” 

Ara tsks. “You want to talk about this? When we can catch up, instead? When we can bring peace together -- Life and Death, working as one.” 

You sigh. “I don’t want to work with you. I don’t want anything to do with you, because, before this you betrayed me.” Another memory blurs, but you can't remember it fully. Just remember Ara mentioning you should sacrifice yourself for your friends, for your people, and marry Christopher. And of course you did, because if you hadn't, Ara would have had to.

“Which answers your question for why I am here, when it happened, and even why I was chosen. I am your weakness.” A soft and innocent smirk is given, and before you can argue, Ara is gone.

Starkid does one little concert in London and suddenly EVERYBODY'S got a British accent. lol I'm just joking. They work here with the setting of the show and as a way to differentiate characters. And I think it was smart of them to only use the accents for minor characters that only briefly appear.
