I can't help but wonder about your One Piece OC! I know you've mentioned that he's a mature person in the crew, but do you see him as more of a sibling/parental role to Luffy, or is he part of the shenanigans with usopp/chopper/luffy, or is he like tired uncle like Jinbei (or secretly amused like zoro) ? I am eager to hear about where he meshes in with crew especially luffy

I also can't help but wonder if our first mate gets jealous of him often. You mentioned that you do, but I think about like what if some days luffy just misses Ace, and luff will stare at Jean a lot more sometimes or just hover around him just to relive being with his brother *cries*

Ahhh!! Im so happy and excited every time I get question about my OCs (❤´艸｀❤) Thank you for taking interest and being curious about Jean!

To answer. He is more of big brother type. Not just to Luffy but to everyone. Even the older mature straw hats. Jean just have so much love to give, growing up not knowing much about the world, isolated and thinking himself to be a slave until death. It really is Luffy and the strawhats who saved him and his fellow slaves so, he's enthusiastic in showing them how much he cares for them. how thankful he is to them for saving him, and along with that, his life. So he spoils everyone like this cool doting brother.

I'm actually planning to make one paged comic series ( kind of like 4 koma? ) in his interactions with the strawhats. As well as discovering more of the world. little sneak peek with Sanji ( ignore the cross. i changed that to a locket )

Here, Jean becomes the big brother Sanji dreamed and should have had. At first it annoys Sanji to no end even saying stuff like " gross, dont touch me. its weird! " but Jean is so gentle towards the crew, even helping Sanji wash the dishes, even cleaning the kitchen at night to surprise Sanji that eventually, Sanji accepts Jean. And finally allows himself to be spoiled. Even bringing out that side of Sanji that longs for a caring brother. One he only dreamed back then.

Jean has that ability to let everyone's hidden side of wanting to be spoiled and Jean is all to happy to do so. He is just so happy to be there with everyone. That he never really asks for anything in return.

As for Zoro being made Jealous by Jean. Yes he does that. but there is a moment only the three of them knows. Its when Luffy gets nightmares about Ace every now and then. most of the time he can deal with it, but there are times he's so shaken. When Jean wasn't around yet, it's Zoro trying to calm him down. But when jean arrived, the three of them found out that, despite being freaked out by jean and Ace looking alike, Jean helps Luffy calm down due to his voice being exactly like Ace's. Along with it, Jean's hugs is just one of the best. Even beating hugs from Jinbei. There's a strange therapeutic effect.

Here is a comic I doodled quickly just now to show that.

I still wanted to emphasize the eerie feeling from Jean and Ace's similarities are so the comic ended up a bit off. (laughs) please forgive me!

Every time this happens, Luffy does apologize to Jean for asking him to 'talk' like Ace. He knows it's wrong, but honestly, Jean would do anything to calm Luffy. and He knows Luffy doesn't mean it and that he's just suffering, So Jean is very patient with him and never really feels offended at all.

If you can't tell by now I am trash for TrashKing's fics—I can't help it I'm straight up in love with their Light. I would recc literally all of their fics but we don't got time for that, there's over fifty. This fic is fluffy and funny and really interesting, and it was a super fun read! I liked the inclusion of Ryuk and Light's very wholesome and yet still very Light™ reactions to human experiences :)

I can't explain what else I particularly like about this fic without spoiling it, so you're just gonna have to read it.

So, just this once, he decides to break his principles and go above the law. He kidnaps Light and takes him to Wammy's house.

He's sure that having the kids interact with a real-life mass murderer will be a very educational experience indeed.

Or: Light is Kira, L is sick of how easily manipulated the police are, and he secretly wants to see what will happen if he forces Light into a domestic situation with children just as intelligent as he is.

I am a person who really enjoys L Wins AU, so L yoinking Light from Japan just to hide him away in Wammy's to try and redeem (?) him all while Light kicks and screams is something that just speaks to me personally 🙏 L just wants to not kill his friend and Light just wants to continue to commit crimes, top tier story on God.

This fic is beautifully written and it scratches that itch I have for malicious antagonism between established lawlight. These bitches are SO toxic and I love them. I really enjoyed the different perspectives just so you can see that both of them are unreliable narrators.

I LOVE THIS FIC. I ADORE IT. It's dark and gritty, but as someone deranged about human (?) Ryuk and his and Light's dynamic, this fic is wonderful. The noncon is not between Ryuk and Light, but the descriptions are explicit so be aware of that. Both Light and Ryuk have my entire heart here no lie.

Could we get a look at the final confrontation scene between Near and Kira with Mello and Matt?

Assuming we're going with the Near's Deal scenario - I think Near wouldn't let Mello and Matt attend the final confrontation to begin with. He'd order them to stay at the SPK HQ for them to a) not mess up his plan on scene and to b) be a backup, in case anything unplanned happens. Mello is not happy about this, as you can imagine haha -- so no M2 at the final confrontation, sorry!

But that got me thinking: what if Near's plan failed? What if Light actually killed everyone at the warehouse and walked out of there as a winner? What if M2 waited for Near to return and eventually realised something went wrong and took matters into their own hands? WHAT IF M2 TOOK OVER THE OFFICIAL ROLE AS THE NEW L?? Light would be doomed. Lydia spoke, her voice cool and matter-of-fact, confident as ever.

“ So go ahead, report them. But know that you'll be reporting every single one of us.”

James looked around the group, seeing nothing but steely determination.

“ You're bluffing.”

Theo spoke next, his voice cold as he addressed the resident, stepping closer.

“ Are we? Because if you think for a second that we'll let you blackmail our friends, you've got another thing coming.”

Jamesons' confidence wavered. He glanced around the room, seeing no signs of weakness.

“ You can't all be serious.”

“ Oh, we're serious. Deadly.”

Malia spoke, her tone dangerous.

“ We'll start with Scott and Allison, caught them making out in the locker room after a particularly stressful night shift."

" Or Scott and Kira, that time when they thought everyone had left. But nope, caught red-handed."

" And let's not forget me and Dr Derek Hale."

Lydia continued, her tone icy.

" Not that anyone could, given how loud he can get.”

Jameson hesitated, realizing the precariousness of his position.

“ You’re all lying.”

“Try us. Let’s see how far you get.”

Jameson, knowing he was outmatched, decided to back down.

“ Fine. I’ll drop it. But this isn’t over.”

“ Actually, it is."

Lydia spoke, smirking innocently, looking over at Allison as she began.

“ We’ve already spoken to my father about your… ambitions. You’re being transferred to another hospital. Effective immediately.”

Jamesons' face drained of color.

“ You can’t do that.”

“ We just did."

Allison spoke, her voice icy.

“ Now get out.”

When Jameson left, the group breathed a collective sigh of relief, Y/N sitting down as the tension left her body.

“ That was close."

Stiles agreed, wrapping an arm around her.

“ Too close… Thank you, all of you.”

Scott smiled, seeing how comfortable Y/N looked under Stiles' touch.

“ That’s what family is for, we look out for each other.”

“ And besides, what’s a little scandal among friends?”

The group laughed softly.

The weeks that followed were peaceful, the shadow of Jamesons' threat no longer looming over them. Y/N and Stiles' relationship, now out in the open among their friends, flourished without the need for secrecy. One evening, as they sat in the break room together, Y/N turned to Stiles, a soft smile on her lips.

“ I can’t believe we got through that.”

“ Me neither. But we did together."

Stiles smiled, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.

“ And we have the best friends in the world."

Y/N said softly, looking around at their colleagues, who were laughing and chatting nearby. Stiles nodded.

“ That we do. That we do…”

Near! :D

How I feel about this character: Like him, but tbh no real deep or passionate feelings. I haven't poked his brain enough to get interested. I will say I started liking him more in the A-Kira one-shot, and not only cause his long hair was awesome, but cause I wanted to know more about WHY he was like that, what he felt all those years later about the Kira Case, how his life had gone as the new 'L'.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Mello in a childhood rival-turned-enemy-turned-lover way; Light a very messed-up 'mutual substitutes' way; and Minoru Tanaka cause I think they should have at least met and picked each others' brains!

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Also Mello actually, sometimes I just want them to understand each other and come to like...not a moment of peace, so much as a moment of actually talking about what their childhood at Wammys did to them and their relationship as a consequence of it.

My unpopular opinion about this character: Anime Near really was boring and I had no interest in watching him. Manga Near is more interesting, but they still needed to make him more goofy. (I saw two alternate panel translations of 'Serious Near' vs 'Goofy Near' and I loved the second one.)

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Near meeting Minoru Tanaka!!! What a freaking loss of opportunity. Also, I'm a fan of the "Near wrote Mikami's Name" theory and I'd like that confirmed or denied in canon.

My OTP: I don't have one, I don't know him well enough tbh, even the ones I do ship, it's kinda with ambivalent feelings.

My cross over ship: Dont have one, sorry :3

A headcanon fact: He didn't grow his hair out cause he's too lazy to cut it or too depressed to bother, he just genuinely likes the way it looks and feels.

When I started shipping it if I did: In December 2022 when I started writing for them! Altho tbh I'm not sure if I so much as shipped them, or if I just really liked the challenge of writing about them getting and being together.

My thoughts: Love them when they're just eternally messed with and messing with each other. I like them both individually as characters so having them together is really fun.

What makes me happy about them: Their symmetry. They just GET each other. And I love picking at their brains and poking them with a stick, and putting them in Situations together. I think their reactions are really fun.

What makes me sad about them: That in canon they were (or maybe mostly just Light, cause we never got to pick L's brain about it) too dumb to see what they'd be bored as hell without the other. That they never got the chance to actually be honest with each other before it was too late. (Altho in the anime L did try.)

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: For L, my pet peeve is the idea that his whole personality was an 'act.' I've never heard a good argument for why he'd bother. From a character standpoint, this would mean we never knew anything about him, which makes me sad. As for Light, when someone gives him too many "good" or too many "bad" traits, for whatever reason. It no longer feels like Light at some point.

Things I look for in fanfic: Mind Games :3

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: I don't think they're capable of it lol, sometimes I don't even think they're capable of ending up with each other. But for the sake of it, I wanted to see more of Light and Kiyomi. and as for L, Matsuda could take care of him.

My happily ever after for them: Mind Games, but forever! :D

Who is the big spoon/little spoon: Light is usually the little spoon cause L clings like an octopus, and Light needs to breathe so he faces the other way. L becomes the little spoon if Light wakes up in the middle of the night and L's asleep but not clinging to him.

What is their favorite non-sexual activity: Dang, I can't say Mind Games again. Or arguing. Or discussing a book cause it would be to one-up each other. So I think--sharing a meal. Just the two of them quietly enjoying their food together, and even giving little bits off their plates that they think (hope) the other might enjoy. A small sign that they want the other to live, and be happy.

Stiles flashed a coquettish grin back that probably came out more show-offy than anything because he absolutely sucked at flirting—all he’d done since he’d come back home three days ago was get semi-annoyed glares and smacks on the back of the head.

A furrow creased in between Malia’s brows. “I’m confused. So basically, the new pack is conducting experiments on a sea monster in their secret lab that’s going to kill Derek?”

“Possibly,” said Kira.

For fanfics. I am not a big active reader of fics (can't handle too much words because of my short attention span) and if I do, I am admittedly very VERY picky. (add to it my preference for fixed positionals (Top!Zoro)) Like the slightest feeling of ooc with the characters are quick to turn me off. So far, from the few I have read, I only liked one and its ABO , titled " Spill your wine " the dynamic and personalities of the characters there is so on point and is the exact characterizations I am looking for ZoLu ! when i started shipping it: Before I'd even finished my Death Note rewatch honestly—I only binge a max of six episodes a day so I didn't even remember what Mikami looked like when I started reading fics that mentioned him. Deadass I thought he had a moustache, I was so convinced in my old memories before I saw him on screen again 😭 BUT YES I read TrashKing's Composure before I finished the series again and found their dynamic there intriguing :3

my thoughts: They just bring a sort of Riza & Roy, Barty & Tom, Crim & Alessio, Aro & Jane vibe to the table that I really enjoy ✨ The Mastermind™ and their feral attack dog—Light says "Bark" and Mikami goes "At what tone, pitch, and volume; poodle or rottweiler?" and that's just SO much to play with >:3 IT'S ABOUT THE SERVITUDE 🤌🤌 THE IMAGE OF LIGHT SITTING CLEAN AND ARROGANT IN HIS THRONE AND MIKAMI STANDING PROUD BESIDE HIM COVERED IN BLOOD 😩🙏 Mikami is Light's favorite little pet and Light is Mikami's everything.

what makes me happy about them: They are soooo unwell your honor 💕 Two freak ass nerds both thinking they're more righteous than they are. Mikami could probably snap Light in half over his knee (dude is JACKED) but he won't 🥰 They're what I need when I want Light pampered and spoiled and getting everything he wants.

what makes me sad about them: THEIR DEATHS. DEAR GOD CANON DID THEM SO DIRTY, MIKAMI ESPECIALLY 😭😭 There is no dignity in death INDEED

things done in fanfic that annoy me: Honestly? (Don't hate me for this one Moon (⁠๑⁠•⁠﹏⁠•)) I don't like how often L is brought up or mentioned in Mikalight fics. Like Mikami is L's replacement in Light's heart, like he sees L in Mikami—they're literally nothing alike 😭 They both have black hair but if that's the only thing you need to be L's replacement then Matsuda would make the cut. Besides; if I open a Mikalight fic, I want the focus to be on Mikami and Light :') If I wanted Lawlight I'd have gone to the Lawlight tag instead, you know?

things i look for in fic: Mikami being obsessed and Light viscerally enjoying his obsession. That's it :3 I want Mikami to be the devoted pursuer and Light to be the deity deigning to touch him out of amusement and curiosity. I like Light in control and Mikami being super horny about it ✨

who I'd be comfortable with the ending up with: For Light, I like him with pretty much everyone lol (have that man running from his harem 24/7), though L and Ryuk are definitely at the top of the list ;3 For Mikami.... it's harder, because I only like him with other people in situations where Light isn't a factor at all, such as they've never met or Light just doesn't exist. Save for maybe Near, because I think captor/captive is always a fun trope 💫 But with Light there (and specifically in Kira Wins AUs) I tend to like him with either Matsuda or Misa, because I can see both of those relationships turning antagonistic >:3 Mikalight is pretty much the only DN ship I have that doesn't have SOME form of chafe to it, so anything else would need to be made interesting for me to ship it.

my happily ever after for them: Kira wins, Mikami uses his eyes and tenacity to become Light's right hand man, and then they spend the rest of time being righteously evil with Light directing and Mikami wielding the scythe—which he is then reward for by Light allowing him to use his mouth and hands and sometimes cock to make his Kami-sama feel good 😌💖

who is big spoon/little spoon: TOUGH QUESTION. Because if it's in a No Death Note AU and they were both,,,normaler, I'd say Mikami. But in any other circumstance I'd say Light, if only because Mikami kneeling between his legs while Light works is practically the same thing as being the little spoon when you think about it :3

what is their favorite nonsexual activity: Not to get super soft all of a sudden, but probably talking. Mikami is canonically very intelligent as well, even if I think his smarts come more from diligent study than any born-in ability like Light's—they've probably read a lot of the same books and I imagine them sitting in comfortable quiet reading together and occasionally looking up to speak their thoughts about the book aloud, which leads them into calm but intriguing discussions. When they're not being murderous psychos, I think they're both actually quite calm and content people, so things like going for a morning run, drinking coffee together, and reading in the same room are definitely their favorite moments otherwise 💗

@whipplefilter: I'm a fake fan and don't have strong attachments to any of the Bleach music, but looking back through my off-the-top-of-my-head faves, they all have two things in common! They all have some kind of engagement with urban environments, and they all prominently feature Matsumoto. Which, like, very on brand of me, albeit unconsciously!

Top Fave: Ranbu No Melody - SID

AKA what we here at B3 call "the marble OP." I know it's the hougyoku, whatever. I'm into the experimental, subject-less first third of this OP, though, which is just a series of urban environmental shots, shown first in full and then with an overlay reminiscent of a film negative. The intensity/gravity/bananasness of having moved and replaced Karakura with Fake Karakura is minimized in the story itself, but I feel like it comes roaring in this OP, and I love it.

And then we have this GORGEOUS shot of Matsumoto (crying over Ichimaru's dead body), which is beautifully rendered and also makes my heart hurt for her. And I think it's cool that it plays forwards and also judders backwards--there's a destabilzation of time/affect happening that intrigues.

Also, I actually do like the song itself! The refrain as the imagery changes from urban stills to character motion makes my heart flutter.

2nd Place: Rolling Star - YUI

Nothing but wins here, honestly. More Matsumoto, and Ichimaru's representative ghost holding her in a strangling embrace. (Her hair also seems a bit shorter than usual, so either it's caught up in the way his body is pressing against her back, or it's from an earlier point in canon--either reading delights me.)

Then we have Ichigo manspreading in a hipster loft/cafe and the Advance Team in a different industrial hipster cafe, with RENJI AND HIS HAT, and it's all gold. (Not pictured but imminently entering the third screenshot is Matsumoto, just to note the Matsumoto quotient required of all my fave OPs.)

3rd Place: Shoujo S - SCANDAL

I mostly like this one because it's the "Dancing Girls OP," and I especially love Orihime and Rukia dancing their duet, because the physicality of their bodies and movements brings out the ways they contrast and complement each other.

But the "Shinigami in Random Urban Settings" motif isn't to be slept on here, either! LOOK, IT'S SASAKIBE POSING WITH SOMEONE'S LAUNDRY. YAMAMOTO WITH A VENDING MACHINE.

@ippoddity Ngl I am not good at remembering OPs off the top of my head and I also don’t have any strong attachments to any of them, because I never watched Bleach while it was airing. I also don’t know the names of any of these songs, I only know them by nicknames LOL.

For some reason, my top favs also align pretty closely with my co-blogger’s. I’ve been sitting here just trying to bring OPs to mind, and the "Marble OP" is one of the most memorable. I’ll also always remember “Hitsugaya Cafe”, because we spent a long time trying to color match Renji’s hat. (whipple: I could not for the life of me find the additional version where actual color balancing was involved, though you'd think it'd be a reblog of that post or at least appear in the archive around the same time. Choosing to believe Tumblr deleted it out of Hatgate censorship!!) “Dancing Girls” will always be a fav, because I think this was one of the first times I tried to make a GIF? And it was simply because I love everyone in their girl group era.

I will admit that I didn’t really like the song itself when it was first introduced, but it really grew on me over time. Plus, I really love the animation. It’s such a fun modern AU. I mean, who can resist Ichigo wielding a double-necked guitar like he’s going to bludgeon someone with it?

Tbh, as a polyamorous person, I love thinking about how it would be to be in a relationship with the people from shows and stuff. Like the one's in a relationship or I ship together. For example, Kira and Odo. C'mon, need I say more? Think about it. How fun, neat and healthy it would be to be in a polyamorous relationship with those two. You would literally never feel unloved.

Kira would be more bold then Odo, greeting you with a kiss and a 'hi honey!:D' every time she saw you. She would def give good morning cheek kisses and good night mouth kisses (Cause morning breath). Odo, would be more subtle with his love. Gifting you and Kira little things he thinks you two yould like, keep an eye on you both to be sure you're safe. Of course you and Kira absolutely let him know he's loved, and he gets so soft in private with you both. If Kira is overwhelmed with her duty, Odo is down in his insecurity, or whatever is making you upset, no person in that relationship would be left un-comforted.

Odo and Kira are protective of you in their own ways, and those lines meld together at violence. They will not shy away from violence to keep you safe. You and Kira are protective of Odo, You and Odo are protective of Kira, and they are of you. Nobody's getting hurt in this relationship if the other two have anything to say about it. Communication is a key element in you threes relationship, that's why it works out so well. You three would be the dream team, literally. The three of you together? Unstoppable.

You guys want kids? Here are some scenarios. (Also you're going to have to work with me here, because I'm pretty sure Odo doesn't have a weninei (dick) and if he did, that means he'd have to study it in order to replicate it, I think.)

For female or those with a uterus: Odo is going to be upset that he doesn't have the right...parts, or at least, his parts don't work like a humans parts so that they may impregnate you and kira. (Assuming you're of a species akin to Kira, or a species that can mate with other species.) Will you and Kira reassure him? Oh fuck yeah. In more ways then one~ ANYWAYS. Tbh he would probably research a tone of shit to see if their was a slim chance he could knock you and kira up lol. However, it's a good thing you three are perfectly content with adopting!

AFTER ODO BECOMES HUMAN: Odo is happy he can bow provide you and Kira with a larger family. Even if you can't get pregnant by another species, assuming you're an alien that can't crossbreed, Kira will happily have the children (this applies to if you don't want to bear children. They will not hold it against you). I can see maybe three or four kids? Four at the most, two at the least.

For male, or those with a weninei (penis): Now. You may think, 'oh! Odo might be upset that only you can get kira pregnant!' and I'm shutting that down. A baby that's a mixture of the two most important people in his life? SIGN ODO TF UP. Kira is on board with this, 100%. (Again, assuming if you're a species that can procreate with other species.) Once again, if you're not able to reproduce with Kira, adoption is always on the table.

AFTER ODO BECOMES HUMAN: Kira is happy is can now bear both your children, so is Odo. I think it would be a pleasant suprise to see one of the children come out looking like you and Odo, or a mixture of you three. (Eggs can be fertilized by two men and grow up looking like both of them.)
