Ok I don’t know how to explain this coherently but bare with me. So Scar’s lorebait tweets about his character still being alive post-canon in Secret Life operate on an assumption of “the time that passes between tweets is the same as the time that passes in-universe” ex. SL!Scar mentioning the world being snowy because it’s winter irl, right. And yet these tweets continue as per usual during the time where Wild Life is airing, when we clearly see scar changing worlds with the rest of the players. So like. Did scar not killing himself even at the point when a new season was starting make him perform fucking mitosis is there just two of him now

i just think. that sonics characterization should be the unique and chill vibe he had in the 00s. his personality was 'any shounen anime protagonist' and it was great. like hes actually not that deep if you just remember he was popular when naruto was. hes just teenage boy wish fulfilment. his personality is mascot. for tween and teenage boys specifically. other people can relate to him but he was well and truly written for this demographic to relate to.

hes difficult to characterize in a consistent lore sense bc he truly wasnt meant to be that deep. ever. except when the situation called for it. which is the greatest lorebait in the world for me. hes just a guy who likes adventure and has mutual beef with a mad scientist. he can make friends with anything. he has a chao garden he takes care of. he doesnt have a house. he has a weird relationship with all his friends. he's schroedinger's responsible adult of the friend group. there is not a single fact about his life we know of that hasnt been retconned. everything currently canon to his life is now exclusively something we've played through. forces exists and actually happened in his canon. his world truly makes 0 logical sense with its lore (because sega hates me. personally.) but it does make sense to him somehow. his abilities are never explained and they never should be. chaos emeralds are also never explained and never should be. he's the most chill person in the world and unfortunately that also makes him absolutely unhinged because no one fully sane sees a giant fucking metal deathtrap and goes 'oh cool what a fun afternoon i have in store for me'

and i think jason griffith nailed this particular personality. i like roger craig smith but he does bring the essense of adulthood to sonic when like. again. sonic was clearly written to be teenage boy wish fulfilment and only griffith truly captures the essence of unhinged tw/eenage boy.

i understand the wariness people have towards “lorebait” media, and i must stress i still haven’t seen TADC, but i gotta say it sounds like TADC is just… a pilot setting up plot points for later. i’ve seen genuine lorebait, and it was hello neighbor unnecessarily re-designing itself six times over in the pursuit of completely unplanned and directionless youtuber-attention-chasing instead of just normally developing a fucking game that could have been decent. that’s lorebait. the term shouldn’t be thrown around loosely.

Oh that was a HORRID fucking nightmare

It’s currently an hour before my alarm goes off and i just woke up from a dream where I was playing a horror game akin to something like slender where you find 3 items while avoiding a monster and id gone through a few levels of it but I’ve forgot what they were, the mechanics this last level monster was it was blind but it could hear and it was like a long gangly looking thing with claws and it was a pretty scary in my dream it was all white and it’s ribs were protruding and it had a black hole for a face where some teeth were jutting out and it was voice acted too so you could hear It at all times and I was in the longest hallway’d house ever there were closets and desks I could hide in it was like a house with the anatomy of a hotel my only light was a half dead flashlight and a flashbang from a previous level that triggered the monster to kill me instantly and the death animation was it fnaf 2 foxy jumping at me but it looked like something out of resident evil man it fuckin DCARED me and it always whispered something before the game over screen like “I’ll string you by your guts.” With a bone snapping SFX before I could hit restart

So the whole reason I was PLAYING the game to begin with was because there was a Wrathion statue giveaway and the items in the game you had to find. Were 3 Wrathion plushies. Very good bait dream, I took that shit like a worm on a hook you prick. Anyways my subconscious really latched into all my game development research bc the menu was surprisingly clear, it let me select all the previous monster and read about them and their mechanics but the new one had just vague brief descriptions like “If it hears you you’re dead. Hide when it draws near.” And it’s title was just YOURE FVCKED which is funny censoring honestly but there was also a clip of the jumpscare in that menu itself so fuck you again dream for your clever jumpscare tactic of getting me while I’m in the menu.

Anyways so since I could barley see with my shit flashlight and the monster was legitimately scaring the shit out of me and the Wrathion plushies made me realize I was asleep and I wasn’t getting that statue for real I started playing the game badly so I could wake myself up (because doing anything direct would’ve made my subconscious change the game to something I wasn’t familiar with) but turned OFF my flashlight so my mind wouldn’t show me that fucked up creature when I died but I could still hear it but thank god I couldn’t feel it killing me because it randomly generated different deaths that I couldn’t see thank god again and before I woke up I closed the game and my me camera pulled back to out of the game me and I was holding my dog grounding myself and also trying to wake up and the exit game animation thing was like “oh well you lost game character doesn’t get to save their kid” like lorebait was gonna get me back in there like I’m Matpat or some shit then the animation “cracked” my screen as one last scare and I woke up and decided to write this down bc I could make that game and then use the money to buy the statue so nightmares offer solutions sometimes I guess

Very much non-canon lore for a wip character

“There is no way…” Desperate hands rummaged through chests upon chests, always coming back with nothing but air in their grasp. “It was supposed to be here-- It is supposed to be here.” Someone’s eyes furiously shifted left and right, scanning all of the items that were sliding between their fingers, before one more chest caught their attention. It seemed to had not been open for god knew how much time, but there was this sudden hope building in their chest, and they reached for it, recognizing the sigil on its front—

The Clockworkers’ sigil.

Panicked breaths calmed, pounding heart rested, those involuntary chirps dwindled.

And with steady hands, they opened the chest.

“One would suppose you’d try to find it sooner.”

The Clockmaker ground their teeth, staring at the empty chest’s bottom.

“Rather so when you’re always ‘hard at work,’ hm?”

They turned around and adjusted their falling glasses, manner composed and wings gathered behind them from where they had flared out. There stood a person in the dark shadows of the tower’s beams, toying with a certain… object in their hands. “I exercise my deeds very carefully, Stranger. Never have I strayed from my given mission, so, where is due such question of my capability?”

“This… thing… has been missing for the past couple of days, and you have yet to find it. It should come as obvious you haven’t tried to search for it until just now, where the time is running low.”

The Clockmaker’s lips tugged down into a disheartening frown, one of a man could list off many details, and summoned a water bottle to their side, if it was to come to aid.

“Ha, get it? Time is running low, time, clocks, ticki—"

“That Bell doesn’t belong to you, Stranger, or to any of your beliefs you stand for. Your kin has long abandoned this post of mine, leaving it to rot under ashes as you all gloried the new days.”

There could be a light chuckle heard, and then the Stranger glued themself off one of the beams and stood in the tower’s lights, purple eyes and black skin immediately apparent even from the longer distance between them. Their gaze sparked, a step forward taken as they hissed, “who is that God you stand for? Who has finally gotten you, the self-proclaimed bastard of all, on your knees and bid you to serve them? Who is it?”

“Their true name is to be unspoken.” Wings leisurely stretched, the Clockmaker looked over the frame of their glasses on the incoming Stranger. “May the Knell tell.”

“You can’t escape this.” They were running, purple eyes narrowed in determination to finally be the one to end this monster. “You won’t find it. No one ever will. You’re— clearly aware, and you still choose to repeat?!”

“I am the seer of Time, Stranger.” They smile. “I am a machine destined to repeat.”
