This is a Lori Grimes rant post. I'm fully aware of the heap of shit that can emerge from this post and I'm fully capable of debating said shit. I have no interest in quarrels. This is just opinionated and neither here nor there ♡
⚠️TWDSpoilers-⚠️
Tumblr media
So lets start by making it clear, Lori believed Rick was dead. She was a stay at home mom/ house wife. No survival skills and depended on her husband, pre-apocalypse life. Lori was vulnerable and used Shane to cope. She is obviously a woman who finds comfort in intimacy. A lot of woman are like that. Shane protected her and got her and Carl to safety. They witnessed the world end together. Shit happens. And Shane told her Rick was dead. She believed Shane. She trusted him. And if Shane would have told the TRUTH, Lori could have went after Rick and saved him, or maybe died trying. But then we would have got an entire different character arc for her. But anyways that's why Shane lied or said what he said to make her believe Rick is dead. So he could get her and Carl out of there and so she wouldn't go after Rick and die doing so.
Then as soon as Rick came back she embraced her husband. Told Shane they were a mistake and the truth is, it was. That's why Shane broke...you guys saw that right? Lori told Rick, Shane is dangerous. She never said kill him. Shane literally went up to Lori and said "I thought he was dead. Then when he came back, right then, right there, you see I wished he was." I would have told my husband too like wtf. And she just had that convo with Dale about Shane. Dale thought Shane killed Otis and HE DID. Dale told Lori, Shane is dangerous and right there and then is when Lori realized it too. Rick was a man about it to Shane. Shane should have left that group and went out on his own so he wouldn't have to live with seeing what he lost. But no he stayed and it drove him insane. He led himself to his own fate by lying to Lori in the first place about Rick. Lori admitted putting Rick and Shane at odds. She apologized to Shane , even though that's not enough but she still took blame for everything that happend. And once she found out Shane was dead and killed by her husband...she probably felt like even more shit. I get how people could be angry with her. How she moved on so quickly and out of all people, his bestfriend!? Yep mistakes happen. Life goes on. Get over it. Rick did, why can't you?
The main reason Lori got mad at Rick for killing Shane is because Rick allowed Carl to put Shane's reanimated self down, no matter how it happened. She didn't want to let go of the old world and she felt she needed to shelter Carl from the violence. And it pissed her off knowing Rick just let it happen. Rick says to Lori "I just wanted it over, I wanted him dead. I killed him." To Lori, Rick took the easy way out by killing Shane. That's why she was mad.
Yes, Lori tried to abort Judith. Do you know how many woman probably aborted or abandoned or killed there babies in that kind of world? She was scared shitless and she knew, she knew the pregnancy would be the death of her because she knew she would need a C-section. And that's why Rick never wanted to talk about it once reaching the prison. Just wanted to pretend like it would all be good. Anyway, she then INSTANTLY puked the pills up. And because of her willing sacrifice, we now have Judith.
Yes, she lost hope when Carl got shot and thought he would die. She felt as if he was suffering and just maybe he would be better off dead anyway because what's the point in this kind of life. Obviously, Rick disagreed and didn't accept that and I didn't either.....but everyone loses hope once in a while. I'm not justifying it but any parent will doubt and worry and grow sick with just the thought of "what if".
Tumblr media
And then people say she's a bad mom and never knew where Carl was. To be honest, Carl Grimes don't need no babysitter. Rick and Lori raised Carl to be independent, and so he was. Lori just didn't want to accept that and hold on to the old world. But Lori fought, she killed walkers and defended Rick when Sophia went missing. You all make her out to be horrible. She was Rick's first wife. She is Carl's and Judith's biological mother. Rick and Carl loved her so much.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Lori was absolutely right. "If it seems easy, don't do it, don't let the world spoil you." Carl experienced this with killing the kid from the governors group. It was so easy to kill. It's a domino effect throughout the entire series. It's why Carl wanted peace between Negan and Rick. Lori was right. I live by this...I really do. It's hard to stand up for what's right. But I know I ain't no coward for doing so.
I cried so hard and I'll cry everytime I watch this scene.
Tumblr media
Please, please, please stop comparing Lori to Michonne. Michonne believed Rick was still alive. She searched for his body and found nothing. She went out there, on her own and found proof he was still alive. Michonne was a woman who already been through shit before meeting Rick. She's a skilled survivor and was a asset to the group from the get go. Lori was a chapter for Rick. Michonne is the love of his life because that is who he will be with for the rest of his life in this new world. The life Rick had with Lori can't be compared to Rick and Michonnes. It just can't be. Lori was a "you can do this" wife. Michonne is a "we can do this" wife. Two total different woman.

twd rant !!
Dude, I hate Lori haters like DNI. If you're a Lori hater, you're genuinely just misogynistic because, like, what do you expect from a woman who thought she lost her husband and is in the middle of a fucking apocalypse? No, she isn't a bad wife, no, she isn't a bad mother and no, she's not a bad character. I ESPECIALLY hate the twd fans who hate her and then love Shane. Like, that's literally a dude who manipulated and took advantage of her when she was vulnerable and thought she had just lost her husband AND THEN, TO MAKE IT WORSE, he SA'd her when she didn't want to leave her husband for him. She wanted someone to protect her son and herself, and she thought Shane could do that. That's not her fault.

there's a literal herd attack and shes going around screaming for him, well whose fucking fault is it that you never know where your fucking kid is. someone will definitely die because of her shit tonight
she sure is negligent for how much she acts like she cares for him

ASK GAME ! ASK GAME ! ASK GAME ! which as I chant out loud sounds like I'm saying "ass game" ... same difference honestly sksksksk
Hiii for the violence ask game (love being a hater) I wanted to know 1, 2, 3 and 23 for whatever fandoms you feel the most passionate about
I wouldn't say that I love being a hater, but I do love being right lmao
also I am feeling spicy so these are gonna be for different fandoms
1 - the character everyone gets wrong
JASON. MOTHER FUCKING. TODD
especially the fandom interpretation Titans version, but like damn
(even other canons get him wrong, and Titans did him so right and people refuse to acknowledge it)
(I could also say Lori Grimes, and Andrea Harrison, and Dick Grayson, and Michonne Hawthorne, and even Gar Logan tbh but this is the rant I am picking)
white cis fanboys just see him as the violent revenge perpetrator - distilled rage, 'the bad sibling', the criminal, the cool one, the gunslinger. fucking whatever
but I am not even so big on a lot of women's interpretation of comics Jason - as some big soft cuddle bug who just needs to be treated softly and cuddled uwu, someone who rip out the throat of anyone who looks at you the wrong way and basically acts like a big bad doberman guard dog in your life (someone possessive and angry and jealous in a love life). again - no
Jason is one of the most emotionally complex characters and the only people who truly understand him are me and Curran Walters.
Jason is a wreck. he was set up to fail - his backstory of poverty and sadness isn't just about giving him some revenge to seek or making him a more conventional criminal, it's his emotional core. everything that has ever happened to him in his life makes him who he is, and so many people don't understand those layers. (so many people don't even acknowledge the differences between him and Dick before Jason became Red Hood). Jason is depressed, he's insecure, he thinks that he's nothing but a problem in other people's lives.
he uses violence as a tool because it's all he's ever known. in a relationship, he would be difficult to connect with because no one has ever truly tried before. he wouldn't be instantly loving - he would be guarded as hell.
I could go on a long time, but anyway - Titans Jason is largely a thing that the show got right and so many people refuse to acknowledge it because they just want to mock Curran's looks and it makes me want to bash my head into things
2 - a compelling argument for why your fave would never top or bottom
I have to do it to em - Spencer Reid would never be a fucking dom. NEVER
(also I know that bottom and top aren't synonyms for dom and sub but I think this ask game was created with mostly mlm ships in mind, so I am talking about this in a dom/sub context because I mostly write and consume x reader fics with bdsm dynamics)
Spencer is a sub. anybody who says that he is a dom, even a 'soft dom' is fucking lying to themselves because they have a particular fantasy that they want him to fit into. even later seasons Spencer would never be a dom
just because someone has rage and acts intimidating towards someone they consider an enemy doesn't mean they would ever feel the confidence to actually be dominant and in charge in bed. that man is walked like a dog constantly by other people in his life, and the only time he 'takes control' of a 'romantic' interaction is when he is with Cat - someone he also considers to be an enemy, an unsub that he can psychologically control. see the pattern?
3 - screenshot or description of the worst take you've seen on tumblr
I have discussed this before, and I wish I had a screenshot because without proof it almost doesn't seem real
someone saying that Spencer loves Henry more than JJ does - in a massive post where they listed all the reasons that JJ 'ruined' Spencer's life (which just gobsmacked me)
that post was a huge inspiration for the JJ/Spencer friendship scenes in [REDACTED]
I just cannot believe that the fandom is so fucking detached and unrealistic about JJ
23 - ship you've unwillingly come around to
...Richonne
this is in large part from what I have seen about The Ones Who Live spin-off, and I recently realized that the title of the spin-off comes from a scene where Michonne punches Rick in the head in order to literally knock some sense into him, so I fucking love that (and it seems like that's what the whole show is - her literally forcing sense into him after he's become detached from reality due to being held hostage by whatever the fuck that group's name is)
and I think The Thrifty Typewriter really put their relationship into terms that I was struggling with. so many Walking Dead ladies were relegated to nothing but being 'the love interest' once they became a love interest to someone. and if they were struggling with what to do with a female character, they turned her into a love interest for someone
Andrea being paired with a Governor, Rosita not getting more interesting storylines until after she parted from Abraham, Sasha being with Bob and then Abraham and then dying (although I think Sasha has a lot of interesting emotional beats, I see the point in saying that), Jessie (who could have had so much potential outside of just being a love interest for Rick, especially when they clearly had Richonne in mind), Lori's entire existence, etc.
So my huge problem with Richonne is that Michonne was so interesting before she got with Rick. And after she got with Rick, she lost all of her interesting traits, and she was stripped down to 'Lori 2.0'. Pregnant housewife character who stays at home and almost never fights. Rick was spotlighted and she was almost never around until Rick drowned. And I think I loved The Ones Who Live because it gave her back a lot of her fire and her autonomy as well as adding more to the romance, so it was the best of both worlds. (And it really made me come around to the pairing.)
And another huge problem I had with Richonne is the same problem I have with Dickkory - people who ship them act like the entire show was created to drive the ship. And the shippers get really annoying because they act like all the other interesting characters and plot lines do not exist. They act like the producers and writers made the show as a vessel to carry the single ship when that is clearly not the case.
For Dickkory, people boil Dick and Rachel's entire relationship down to 'omg, she is Dickkory's child' - which is very annoying. And for Richhone, people act like Andrea just does not exist, when she pulled Michonne out of a very dark place - Rick did not do that. Michonne said so herself. Andrea is a very important character in Michonne's story.
Anyway - I do like Richonne a lot now. More than I ever expected I would

might start another writing au for the walking dead
Wait, I lowkey might go on an idea rant on this. Still, like I had this idea of a highschool au for the walking dead because I obviously love them and cannot bare to see them on some apocalyptic end of the world type shit anymore because I saw too many off my pookies die. So we need some sunshines rainbows shit right now!!!! Also, I'm only at season 5, so PLEAKSFSPLEASE NO SPOILERS okay so when I mean high school au its actually an excuse to say teacher au for the main cast and some students hehe so here were some discussion points I had with my friends and some ideas LOL i might draw it if I have the time and definitely will write something for this au *drumroll please* Rick Grimes: well of course our main character will be a teacher, maybe a math teacher and on the side is a coach for some sports club like the biggest one like idk I'll think about that when it comes
Daryl Dixon: My son would be a teacher and a coach too, I was thinking either history teacher or crazy physics teacher who doesn't really care about the class but will lock in when exam season is around. Will coach another club Shane Walsh: Used to be best buds with Rick, vice-coaches with Rick too but Lori ends up cheating on Rick with Shane - Rick and Shane are still like coaches but nothing else besides their professional jobs Hershel: THE PRINCIPLE cause I said so Maggie: the vice principle because I love her and she teaches history LOL Beth: A girl who goes to the school hehe she's so cute I love her Carl, Judith and Lori: Just Rick's family nothing much Michonne: A teacher and she teaches art or a third language teacher. She's totally office siren teacher coded Glenn: Either art teacher or geography teacher, I totally see it and has a thing for fast sports car and loves maggie but Hershel was skeptical about like dating someone in the work field but realises that Glenn is cool like that and lets it slide for his daughter Andrea: probably a student who had some problematic crush on Shane but then ended up giving up (it was truly just a phase) Negan: I know I said I havent made it to season 6 yet but I just know him and I think he's the opponent coach on a rival school and him and rick just beef (or kiss???? I don't know) Carol: The school nurse and sometimes help patches up Daryl Rick and Shane whenever they get injured in their own sport lolz
thats all I can think of right now so yup feel free to add some suggestions or thoughts I really would love to draw this someday or write a mini series on it. I don't know if I would focus on a ship or not but I'll see how it goes :) thank you for listening to my ted talk

CARL GRIMES RANT
Tumblr media
"carl would so listen to mcr!" or any variant of that like mother mother or yk the traditional teenage angst albums/bands makes me so angry. I can imagine him coming across an untouched record store on a supply run and picking up some local band's cd and listeninf to it on his shitty discman that skips every 5 seconds. I've said before he looks like he listens to southern metal like corrosion of conformity, but i think hed also listen to soft rock stuff. he kinda gives me bass vibes like i think if he were an instrument hed be a bass. i dont know i love him so much hes my spiritual son. speaking of i like to hc him as unlabled ftm.. hes me...
As far as emo carl goes, (as an emo myself, like deep down the rabbit hole of skramz) i think instead of mcr, out of the "big 3" hed be more of a fob guy? idk im just getting that vibe. like early fob, tttyg and evening out.. blink maybe? im thinking of popular things he could find in a record store that they have in surplus.
With all of that, probably some country. Rick and Lori scream country listener so thats probably what he grew up listening to in the car..
I know I hated on the traditional angsty teenage albums earlier, but I think hed probably come across those first (in this hypothetical record store) and then listen to them so much he gets sick of them, and move on to the random stuff he finds in record stores.
Anyway end of rant Carl Grimes is me I am him I am a music nerd that makes him a music nerd too and also he love scavenging around in record shops when he can yes canon trust

this is the link to the playlist i occasionally add to of things i think hed listen to

Okay, it’s official.
I have daddy issues. I’m not gonna keep denying it.
For those you who have zero fucking idea of what I am talking about, I have recently been wondering if I have some mild form of daddy issues. So many of my fictional crushes recently have been older men. Now I don’t mean, like, old enough to be my grandfather, but more like 40s to early 50s. With the extremely rare, occasional late 50s (Joel Miller in The last of us part 2 is one year older than my actual father.).
Now, to explain why I’m saying it’s official. I just recently started watching The Walking Dead series and I’m a little bit into season 2. At first, I was just watching it for the story, I guess that fits, but as I kept watching I realized something.
Rick Grimes is fucking hot.
Yes, that is all it took for me to realize I have daddy issues. At first I didn’t want to admit it, but I realized there is really no point in denying.
Also, for those you who ship Michone and Rick: I have nothing against Michone. She great and everything. Now, Lori on the other hand, she was a bitch and that’s all I’ll said about her. This post is just me ranting about the fact that I like guys that are can sometimes be old enough to be my father.

Just like it always happens, fandom hates female figures who act like human beings rather than over-sexualized robots. Lori was amazing, Andrea too, and don't even get me started on my beloved Beth. Not only did they deserve better, they were realistic characters that brought credible reactions. Every time I see '' lori was a bad mother '' jokes I want to scoop out my eyes with a spoon?? after they guilt-tripped her into motherhood in the ZA?? Don´t get me wrong, i love Michonne, but i miss my vulnerable and strong girls.

I am having so many emotions watching TWD1. I will summarize everything so far:
(No ‘read more’ cause im on the phone)
I love Rick with everything I am. I bet u could see me smiling all the way across the oceans when Carl was running to him yelling ‘DAAAAD’.
Shane’s reaction to Rick was freaking PRICELESS LMAO like ‘omg its my best frient wAIT OMG ITS MY GIRLS HUSBAND’. And the moment Lori remembered her affair while hugging Rick??? Oooooh I was laughing.
Daryl’s first appearance???? Talk about a first impression. ‘Thats ma deer’ god bless this accent. my panties are soaked.
Norman’s eyes tho..... 😫😩😩
Also I like super hate Merle. From fics I was like ‘oh no not so bad haha’ but now I want to light him on fire myself and serve his barbecue to the walkers. (Of course I would let Daryl cry on my shoulders after)
I just confirmed my undying love for Daryl and discovered ny undying love for Rick and Glenn as well.

Toons For Our Times: The Loud House: Strife of The Party/ Kernel of Truth
Tumblr media
Lana plans her and Lola’s party with copius amonts of dirt and garabage while Lola tries sabotaging it and I struggle to figure out which one we’re supposed to be rooting for exactly.  Meanwhile Lincoln and Co find an abandoned news room and attempt to start their own news show with the immediate threat of cancelation hanging over their heads. You know like most shows on nick. Also Rusty gets hurt a lot which automatically makes this a winner. News Team Assemble, under the cut.
Well this week was a mixed bag.. which granted could apply to this week as a whole but I meant it specifically for this episodes. Like last week one of them is a true classic that uses the series new status quo to create something intresting, and the other... is the worst episode i’ve reviwed so far. Yes not even one week and the show managed to go from having a boring episode to having a truly odious one. Both metaphorcially and literally as there’s a lot of grossout gags this time around. And unfortuantely since i’ts first in the pairing and the airing, I have to talk about it first. Pitter Patter, let’s get this over with.
Tumblr media
Strife of the Party I”m not exaggerating either. I admit I was hard on Schooled! and Family Bonding, but the former sitll had some good content and the latter was .. well it’s still a boring lazy retread with a bonkers ending, but I admitted to having seen worse. But “I’ve seen worse” is never the best defense. I’ll admit usually I avoided the worse episodes of the loud house. I haven’t seen some of the more infamous episodes of the show like “No Such Luck” or “Kings of the Con”.. because as just a viewer I could skip an episode if it sounded like toilet dinner. Sure i’ve still ran into them: “Study Muffin” was just eh when it aired but now both post me too and post chris savino being rightfully fired for being a harassing dickweasel thanks to said movement, it’s realy fucking creepy, has Lori at her worst (Actively trying to cheat on bobby), and .. I have no third thing. All we really got out of it was Lynn Sr’s obsession with the British. And “The Green House”’s reputation proceeds it and there’s a reason I couldn’t finish it. Point is i’ve been lucky to only step in a few cowpies in the field of this show, and now i’m watching it as it comes out i’m accepting the hard truth that with the show’s hit and miss quality, i’m going to have to go panning in shit creek some weeks if I want to find the nuggets of gold.  Now I will grant this episode doesn’t sound NEARLY as bad as “No Such Luck”.. but as opus would say....
Tumblr media
Exactly my Pengy pal. Again not being worse than the worst episode of the show, still dosen’t make you a good episode. It just makes you marginally less terrible. It’s like saying Creed isn’t as bad as Nickelback. While tha’ts true they both still sound terrible, it’s just playing Creed isn’t a warcrime in some countries. And yes I just compared two episodes of a children’s show to bands my audience thankfully likely weren’t aware ever existed, I don’t care. If you haven’t left my blog running and screaming your either new here or tolerate me being an obscure weirdo.
Before we get in proper, I haven’t covered the twins yet so let’s do that quick. I haven’t really watched a ton of Lola and Lana’s episodes, their not bad characters htey just don’t intrest me much as i’ve seen their gimmicks a lot, but I will say lola’s slightly better and I will say I like Lana more when she’s doing animal antics instead of grossout. Not terirble characters and their acted well, just not my cup of tea is all. Okay enough stalling , pitter patter!
We open with Lola planning the twins upcoming birthday and talking to her stuffed animals which is cute and all.. before a POSSUM CHESTBURSTS OUT OF LOLA’S UNICORN DOLL.
Tumblr media
The.. the fuck. Look i’m all for scaring the crap out of kids in children’s entertainment. I loved Courage the Cowardly dog as a kid and as a grown ass man writing about children’s entertainment. I love the lich from adventure time, i’m okay with scaring kids. But this is just.. a bit too realistic. Yes really. While  doll that size probably can’t fit a possum it could sure fit something else and i’ve seen stuffed animals big enough for a posssum, so yeah.. this could actually happen to one of my nieces and that thought terrifies me. It happening to me also terrifies me but I’m a grown man not a small child who’d be scarred for life. Christ.  The episode does get better, for a second I didn’t bitch for a few paragraphs for nothing. Lana comes in, claims the demon possum, and tells Lola she’ll fix the doll. Uh Lana i’m not sure she wants it back.. you’d be better off burning it and setting the possum free in a republican center’s home where it belongs.
Anyways Lana has a good point, Lola’s been plannig their parties ‘since before they were born”.. literally as the image above shows which is just.. fucking amazing. I cannot belivie they got to go there and it’s glorious they did. I can’t think of many, if any, other chlidren’s cartoons that showed a fetus on screen so kudos.
But yeah that was the one good moment of the episode. Next our twins go to a party suply store where Lola, clearly knowing the host well because these kids have connections, has her stash all the poop colored stuff away... which backfires as lana instead goes to the garbage for party favors and decorations. It fails to get better: Next they go to a bakery where Lana makes her own literal garbage cake and then go to flips for entertainment i.e. a bull. NOw i’ll grant both stops have good bits: The cake store guy asks if Lana’s a cop when she asks for grime and Flip has them sign a waver for the bull. And the bull being lana’s idea of entertainment makes sense.. but overal it just comes off as gross and mean spirited. I mean yes Lola’s about to do some terrible stuff herself and yes Lola ouvershadowed lana.. but she dosen’t deserve this abuse and none of this is healthy or tolerbale for.. well anyone, and could get the Loud Parents in serious trouble, which also leaves the obvious plot hole of “why don’t they step in in either situation. “
The episode would’ve made more snese if Lana went to them to get them to let her host the party and their guilt over letting Lola always do it means they don't’ reign her in despite wanting to. Instead their just.. there at the end for a great bit we’ll get to. It’s always the bad episodes that paint the loud parents as terrible parents honestly. No Suck Luck had them cast their son out into the cold over nonsense, On Thin Ice had Lynn Sr decide forcing his children to embarass themselves was more important than teaching one of them that maybe sometimes you don’t always get to force your family to obey your whims for dumb reasons, and the april fools eps have Lynn Sr so terrified of pranking retribution instead of you know.. GROUNDING Luann for going full joker on their asses. IN most episodes their kind and reasonable but it’s always the bad ones where they instead make Homer Simpson look like a good parent.
Tumblr media
But yeah my rant aside the episode COULD work if Lola, encouraged by one of her other siblings, Luann would be a good bet as she could easily slide into the party setting when appropriate without being too distracting, realizes she’s been selfish and tries to hold her tounge for lana’s sake. Maybe then she tries sabotage.. or better she DOSEN’T, but both of them realize something; Lola realizes she’s been doing this to lana their whole lives by forcing her into a party she doesn’t  like so LOLA can be happy while Lana realizes she’s being no better. Hell even if Lola did complain, which is in character, this plot woudl still work. instead.. Lana is just as bad as Lola while Lola is still pretty terrible.  See the big problem is that NEITHER girl is likeable. As I’ve made clear Lana pushes a gross, dangerous party on her sister she clearly doesn’t like, and Lola, instead of trying tot alk to her parents or get Lana to tone it down.. tries to guide her to what she wants, then when that fails sabotages the party, makes it so Lana has nothing and gets her party. Both sides are being really bad, but instead of them realizing this, lana is treated as the one we should be sympathetic to when she gets mad when she finds out about Lola even though NEITHER of them are sympathetic or likeable and deserve to win 100%. But Lana does, lana gets her way, Lola apologizes and hte paradigm just shifts from one sibling being unhappy to another. We do get that one gag I talked about where when lola goes to make things right she has Lynn Sr stall and he pulls out a cowbell “You thought I wasn’t going to need this”. No bud, Rita HOPE you wouldn’t need this. There’s a difference. Thank god it’s the end.
Final Thoughts for Strife of the Party: They should be obvious but to be clear this is hippo excrement. i’ts not funny, it makes both it’s leads look bad, the parents look worse by inaction and  just isn’t pleasant ot watch. I do GET the show has a young audience, and they like grossout, I get i’m not the target demographic, so I probably would just be okay with a good version of this episode.. but even with that in mind both twins come off so unlikeable it’s just not fun to watch or to see Lana win as she didn’t feel like she earned it. It’s bad and it should feel bad, and i’ts the first truly odious episode i’ve had for weekly coverage. I’ve had okay or eh ones, but this one is truly bad and belongs in the pantheon of bad loud house episodes.. or at least in the honrable mentions. Good gravy this blew.
Tumblr media
Kernel of Truth
Okay now we’ve panned the gold nugget out of the crap creek, we can get on with the GOOD episode this week. I was excited for this one.. I was excited for both actually, even not being a huge fan of the twins I liked the idea of a loud birthday but as we just saw,.. didn’t work out so good. But this one while I thought it would just be average, promised another lincrew shenanigan and I like most of those i’ve seen, and plus I knew it’d allow me to refrence anchorman a bunch so i was llike :Fuck it let’s go”.. and this one ended up being REALLY damn good and probably one of the best episodes with this group i’ve seen, right up there with “Be Stella My Heart.” I’ts good stuff. But before we get into it you probably noticed my ranting about girl jordan but turns out, while I haven’t watched that episode, she’s in the sand field trip episode from last season hanging out with stella so I have an answer to if they forgot abotu her, they didn’t they just need to use her more, and a new ship so i’m satisfied and I apologize for bitching about it. Next time i’ll just check the wiki and see before I bitch about something. ON with the review.
We open with our motely crew searching for a hidden Game Room rusty’s cousin claims exists, with Stellas as lookout and the guys.. er all in stacks that make it look like their doing a team up move from donkey kong country 2?
Tumblr media
I mean I have been playing the game a lot since it came to switch online, seriously if you have the service go play it, but i’m not hte only one seeing this right? Right.  So yeah the kid stack fails and Zach doubts Rusty’s story.. because when has rusty ever been right.. well apparently just this one time, but we’ll get to that. They even checked the boiler room.
Tumblr media
And then promptly vowed never to go back to the boiler room while Principal RAmierz just sighed at having to deal with a freddy kruger infestation again. They loose more children that way and the school board JUST got him out of the high school.  Liam also gets the line of the episodes when he calls the group “Fellas and Stellas” Which is just objectively amazing and needs to be used every time this group appares from now o. Luckily= Stella noticed another closed door, this one taped off instead of just with a keep out sign and the Fellas and Stellas make their way inside and find themselves in.. a news room! But it’s nto a fox news room so it actually had news in it once and not Tucker Carlson, the answer to what happens to an 80′s or 90′s yuppie scumbag villian after they fail to get the orphange paved over for condos
Anyway, our heroes alll ohhh and all while Zach thinks this is where children are harvested. Nah Zach they just call them up on the pa system.
Tumblr media
So everyone does what’s natural to them: Zach and Liam inspect the cameras, Stella looks at the old mic because she’s a natural for being an on camera personality and Rusty.. oggles an old group shot of the news team. You know I may not hate him with the hatred of a hundred suns, but he’s still objectively the worst. Zach gets mad at him over it because “That’s my mom”. Rusty defends himself by calling her hot and while th. no please god no dont’ talk about women like that you creepy little weatherbeaten Chucky doll that somehow became a real boy, or had dustin diamond transfer his soul into it befrore he died. Either is possible. The point is Ewww. The other point is while Rusty’s being his usual living proof of while he’ll die alone Zach has no right to get upset , AT FIRST because how the hell would Rusty know that’s hsi mom. You two have the combined braincell of a dead feret. Stella is the only one out of all 6 of you evenmy boy liam who has more than one brain cell. This argument is stupid and I hate you both,  just settle things in the most humane way possible.. or at least THIS is what I consider the most humane way possible.
Tumblr media
So while those two are being as stupid as expected, Lincoln suggets fixing the place and becoming the new school news crew. I mean they’d need new equipment since even if the stuff there still works’ it’s all worn out 80′s tech none of you know how to use but given their seen with a modern camera later int he episode, I assume they just sold this off and got new cameras. Even if the show flopped, more on that in a minute, the principal could still use those for other projects so it’s a win win. Stella Zhau agrees.. and FINALLY has a last name. Like holy shit i’ve been waiting a full season for this and it feels like that bit was JUST to give her a last name. Now they just need to do Liam but still, I needed this one more. Plus it also means we can now firmly say she’s chinese. Neat!
So after that blockbuster reveal Stella wonders where Rusty is, because fuck if I know, and they all find him continuing to oggle zach’s mom at their age....
Tumblr media
Zach snatches it away and crumples up understandably annoyed. Rusty’s response is about what you’d expect.
Tumblr media
So once Liam’s done throwing that calender into the school furnace, and saying hi to freddy as he passes the boiler on the way, our team heads to the principal to plead their case. They run into Meryl, the identical in personality, plot function and apperance outside of wearing pink instead of yellow to Cheryl, the receptionest at the elementary school who I really liked and it’s a clever way to keep the character at both schools and pays off the runnig gag of Cheryl asking liincoln or clyde who looks better her or her sister by having said sister show up and ask the same. Good stuff.
Meryl ends up agreeing to let them go see the wizard, I mean Principal Rameriz, because her soap is on. Also clyde’s a fan to his friends blank stares. Come on guys he watches romance movies, of course he’s going to love drama shows, even the non teen ones. I now imagine he joins the loud sisters on their riverdale nights. Riverdale the clusterfuck that has something for all of them: Teen drama and shirtless hunks for Lori and Leni, Music and scantly clad “teens’ of both genders and neither gender for Luna, something to laugh at for Luann who probably loves mst3king stuff, and violence for Lucy.. dosen’t seem like it’d be Lynn’s thing honestly but I rest my case. Also the rest of the sisters are too young but the parents figure Lucy’s desentised enough to violence and blind enough to sex to make an exception.
Now that fun headcanons out of the way our heroes pitch the principal whose skeptical, as the 80′s news show ended because it was boring, much like why that 80′s show ended. That and it was a bunch of 80′s pop culture refrences strung together. I do have a minor nitpick that it seems odd a school room would be in disuse for this long, but given the Principal has apparently spent years looking for aformetioned game room as we find out in the end, the school blueprints are apparnelty lost to the ages or if they exist are some sort of ancient treasure map buried beneath the school drawn in blood by an old witch. I mean this universe has cherry hating peach loving spies now, i’ not ruling anything out.
But our heroes beg them: Clyde has journalism experince on the school paper, Stella has the dedication and heart and Rusty .. thinks people need to see his face on camera. Rusty as far as we know your face functions like the vdieo from the ring and everyone in school is going to die 7 days after seeing it on film. That’s my theroy and i’m sticking to it. Thankfully everyone else is just as annoyed with him as me for once, and we get the glorious shot above of everyone just looking.. done with his antics and wondering why they keep him around. Finally for once I agree iwth the characters on something rusty related. Let’s show that agian.
Tumblr media
Poetry. You can just feel the levels of “So done with this crap” seeping from every poor.. except for Poor Lincoln who just wishes his best friends and rusty woudl stop using him as furniture, and Liam whose covered but probably very much on team “Rusty Stop Being Yourself your blowing this for us”. They even have an action news pose.. which is botha dorable and breaks the principal’s bust of herself, so she relucntantly agrees to get them out of there. Plus as I said there’s really no loss for her here. If their sucessful the school gets a new elective, something to put on the tv’s every morning, a way to do announcments so she dosen’t have to, and free good publicity for her next bonus. If not.. then she has somehwere to store her new cameras she can use for other stuff, and come up with something else to do with the media lab. Either way she wins. Plus iwth phones and stuff noawaydays they only need the one new camera.  Okay before we move on confession time: I was on a school tv news show’s crew myself. Not in middle school, we werne’te that lucky but in high school we had video media, an elective where seniors edited news segments and what not for the school’s WhamTV program. I hope i’ts still around honestly. I started on a field crew doing stories but my awkardenss and a blow up at my partner where my awkward rage prone ass threatned him by accident, got me bumped to doing credits.. which I genuinely loved. I got to something fun, creative and unique, I was still part of hte intros every week, and I got plenty of time to goof off and watch videos. It’s how I found channel awesome and first got to watch atop the fourth wall since it wasn’t on youtube back then, back before you know, it turned out Doug was abusing all of them and younger me was just unaware of it. But it was still good times so this episode does feel a bit nostalgic for me. But enough teary eyed reminciings of ten years ago, back to the plot. Our heroes air their newscast. It’s the Middle School Action News with with your Anchors Lincoln Loud and Clyde McBride, Stella Zhao in the field, Rusty Spokes on Sports for.. some reason, Cameraman Liam Wedon’tknowhislastname and Zach Gurdle somewhere out of the way. Middle School Action News, always on, always free.. no wiat tha’ts pluto. Middle School Action News, Taste the rainbow. Middle School Action News.. The Good Guys Always Win, Even in The 80′s. Yeah that’ll do!
But yeah while our heroes try their best, and to their credit this does feel like a middle school news show. The writers not our heroes. Anyways Lincoln and Clyde banter and we get our first segment Stella trying to interview mr. Bohlmer about his birthday.. which goes about as well as doing anything for him on ron swansons’ birthday.
Tumblr media
Next we have Rusty on sports.. which I questioned when I first say this but as obonxious as Rusty can be.. yeah this is the best place to have him. Stella has the drive and the talent to be their field reporter, Clyde and Lincoln have a lifelong report that does well for the desk, Liam is nice and patient enough for camera work, and Zach is a paranoid weirdo so he probably has experince editing since thats where I assume where he is since htey ddon’t do weather and even if they did Liam’s just not the right shade of oblivoiusly nuts.
Tumblr media
I do however at least get why they keep him around as Rusty needs someone to get fed up with him.. but as the above moment showed Clyde and Stella can do that easily, as can Lincoln, so he really has no functional purpose other than as a B-Grade dale gribble. ANd I know kids don’t know who that is but they frankly deserve better. Seriously Zach...
Tumblr media
Okay getting back to the segement. For starters Rusty does a breath spray first.. but suprisingly despite interviewing a lady, specifically Lynn, he DOSEN’T hit on her and is actually professional and manages to get a quote despite her disintrest. LIke I know it’s the bare minimum but you’ve met rusty right? the Bare Minimum is hard for him to grasp. Earlier this episode he was oggling old pictures of his friends mom and saying he should take it as a compliment which, Hard No. So the fact hours later he’s talking to a woman without radiating creep after that is an achivment. For him and him alone mind you, most kids should know better. But still I may be hard on the kid, because DAMN is it fun and damn if he dosen’t give me plenty of joke fodder, but I will give him credit even if it’s the bare minmum. Good job rust you passed the very basic plateau of human decency.
Stella wraps things up with a look at the cafteria that’s about what you’d expect from a kids cartoon, shoe int he beans etc. Unfortuantley bean shoes, sportz and angry assholes aren’t enough to float the show and the principal is ready to can it.  On hte bright side they have their first lawsuit from Mr. Bohlmer. I mean John Olvier idnd’t start getting sued by dickheads with no real case till he was 30, nicely done kids. And it’s not even why, it’s just boring and the kids aren’t enjoying it. So Stella, being again the one with her own brain cells here, proposes to let them find a big story, and Ramirez reluctantly but graciously agrees. And that’s why I like her so far. Don’t get me wrong having Steven Tobolowsky as principal was great, but I like Rameriz better: she’s smart, weary of the crap she puts up with and tough but fair.. which is a cliche btu fits here: She’ll be honest with her kids but will give them an honest chance and sees our news team really doees want this bad and her giving htem one more day to find something actally intresting is more than fair.  So our heroes spitball about what to do for news. LIam suggests alien because again he has about one character trait, so everyone tells him for hte last time no. I mean it isn’t much worse than his last suggestion.
Tumblr media
So once agian it’s RUSTY who saves the day, bringing in beet snacks.. which he tries to get them not to stone him over over the fact the popcorn was all gone.. which okay 1) I get the show’s tring to be healthy so maybe ther’es not chips, but I have a hard time buying that there’s no Chez Its, snack packs or other goodies between “Popcorn’ and “something with beetz that only two men would eat” For the record those two men are Dwight Schrute, for obvious reasons, and this guy my boy Tony Chu.
Tumblr media
I highly recommend this comic, Chew for the record, to anyone. Just.. anyone whose not a children it gets voilent, but it is sublime. We’re not here for that, but I thought i’d plug it. It also has a spinoff currently running, Chu, following his criminal sister. Also real good and dosen’t really spoil anything for hte main series thus far so you can hop in there instead. Either way your in for a ride.  Back on topic, while Rusty failed with snacks he actually brings up a good point: The popcorn isn’t just gone because it’s late in the school day, but because as the kids notice, it’s just missing in general despite the trucks arriving. They have their story and head out to investigate.  And suprisingly, unlike last week’s investigation they find something: A mysterious hooded figure bribing the driver for popcorn, and taking it off somewhere. They fail to catch her, as Rusty dives over her telling Liam to “Make sure you get this”.. he instead gets a shrub and video of him attacking a shrub. I’ts a good runner and shows the writers are leanring to use Rusty better.  They take the footage to the principal, who is impresssed, but states they need to find out who dun it for the story to be complete which is fair enough. They stalk out the nexxt delivery time later that night, but find the drivers have been switched and the mystery person has fled to canada. Rusty once again tries catching her and fall sin the water. Liam once again responds with a cheerful “Don’t worry rusty I got it”.. okay this dynamic is honestly better than him and Zach: Cheerful oblivious Liam and scheming dumbass rusty. Why isn’t THIS the “Those Two Guys” dynamic in the group, honestly.
Anyways Lincoln is dispondent the next day as iwth no leads, they have no programa nd prepares to do a spider-man no more with his anchorsuit.. which okay 1) you can use that for other things man. Peter Parker can’t really use a spider-man suit for anything but spider-manning but you can use that suit for dates and dances and stuff. and 2).. whya re he and the clyde the only ones with outfits? I mean.. it’s clear from this episode there will be more school news stories nad it just looks weird that they get to play dressup in suits but the rest of the crew isn’t. Liam at leat is working the camera and Zach is Zach but rusty and Stella are field reporters. Field reporters, while not always, usually get nice suits too guys.
ANyways Lincoln finds something in the garbage. And not his sister this time, as Lana oscar the grouched it up lat episode in sadness. Which to be fair will be her future career mark my words. At least I think that’s a career. Anyways, our heros find a ferry ticket meaning whoever fled to Canada is in the building. They trail some popcorn from the ticket to the locked door from earlier, which Rusty, finishing the rule of three, tries knocking it down hwile Liam gets it. Stella, again proving to be the real hero of this tale, uses her hair as a lockpick. Is.. is there anythign this child can’t do? She and Marcy should swap notes sometime damn.
And the culprit is MERYL! She was using the popcorn for insulation to get a quite room to herself and begs the kids not to tell which. is the weaker part of the episode> We don’t have the investment in Meryl we do in Cheryl, and she did you know.. steal school property.. or at least buy it off under the table. But the kids being the sweet kids they are understandably, schemes or not don’t want her  to loose her job, and agree to not tell on her even if they loose their show. And to their creid and what keeps this from sinking the episode Meryl is genuinely greatful for this gesture, and gives them the scoop.  And as i’ve been mentioning turns out RUSTY WAS RIGHT. Yes Rusty. That Rusty. Was Right about something. The Game Room exists. They find it thorugh a hidden locker entrance and unlock it from the inside, with af lodo of viewers coming in. Granted at first I didn’t know why Meryl didn’t just use this room but then I thought “Oh yeah she’s a full grown adult and can’t fit in the entrance and i’m assuming it was locked from the other side to the rest of the school”. So the kids have a new hangout and as the principal joins them, they havea  show! Turns out she’d been looking for this place for years.. and doesn’t turn it into something else. What a legend. She plays Air Hockey with Meryl, is there something going on there or are my shipping goggles acting up.. probably both. Anyways our heroes have genuine thanks, a fun new hangout at school, their own headquarters and their own news show. It’s a heck of a day but it’s no time to rest as Rusty tells them he has another tip and i’ts off... to pick up a broom to sweep up the gumball machine they knock over.. THEN they can go find the hot tub for the teachers lounge.
Final Thoughts:  OH me mow, this was a great one. For one the main complaint I had I mentioned at Schooled! of it not feeling like Lincoln’s friends were given enough personality sometimes? Gone enitrely. Everyone except Clyde and Zach get a moment and Clyde is still fully present and has gotten several focus episodes at this point, while Zach again should just leave already. But the rest of them? All on form. Stella continues to prove her competence, energy and adorability, Rusty is not only actually useful for once but was actually really funny his episode. The gag with Zach’s mom was actually pretty hilarious, my jabs at him aside, and the runner of him trying to do some epic stunt, telling Liam to film it and then humiliating himself while his pal cheerfully tells him he got it is just great and Lincoln’s Spider-Man no more moment with his suit was both said and kinda funny and I love him and Clyde’s reporter outfits. It’s why I wanted everyone to have them, especially since this will be a recurring theme and looks to be a fun one. It was fun, creative, and took me back a decade. It was a REALLY damn good one and I’m glad I watched this one first, a true highlight of the series and a true good sign that the season can, even with some hiccups, will apparnetly have some REALLY great episodes on average even with the weaker ones.  That’s it for this week... and somehow for loud house coverage as, for now, their doesn’t’t seem to be any new episodes in October, but that could change. Until then, follow this blog every Monday for regular ducktales coverage and come back in October for more loud house, more the Casagrandes  and some spooky spooky fun Until then, Go team venture.

I am completely fine if Michonne and Rick come back for just Rj. Judith can go hang out with Negan. I get that he is little, and if I’m being honest, I get why they don’t show him a lot, but Judith is just annoying at this point. Rj was created cause Richonne love each other... he needs to be with his parents. He is doing nothing with everyone else. Judith is doing just fine. Also, that gun, RICKS gun should go to RICK JR. I get why the hat went to Judith. Carl gave her that hat, it makes sense. But ricks gun. Michonne should’ve kept it until RJ was older, or until they reunited with RICK sr., so he could give that gun to Rj himself. That gun is a ricks Grimes staple and should go to the only other RICK GRIMES... Not Lori 2.0. I just feel like they’re being extra with Judith. I am not attacking Judith by any means, she is only a child... but the way the writers represent her, makes her so annoying, overbearing, and just extra. And before anyone attacks because they think I’m not including Judith in the Grimes family... stand down. Judith was adopted by Rick and michonne... she is a grimes... she’s not responsible for her biological parents actions... I’m just saying the way they’re writing her is washed out... and I’m over it.Okay, rant over.

Re-watching seasons 1 and 2 of The Walking Dead....
And I just can't understand why everyone hated Lori so much, or why I hated her the first time round. Sure she's not the most competent person ever but she can take care of herself and her reactions to Shane are completely justified! He's a violent, possessive creep who thinks he's got some kind of claim to her. Aswell as that Andrea is so much more useless and whiny! Dale risks his life for her and she spends the rest of the season resenting him, she never shuts up about her gun even though she couldn't use it at all for half the season and as soon as you give her a gun she goes and shoots Daryl trying to "prove" she can be like the guys and she allows Beth to attempt to kill herself and is pleased with herself after!! And the whole thing how in the first two seasons the women did the "women jobs" and the guys did all the fighting would have bothered me too but what would have pissed me off even more is someone refusing to help out with the domestic stuff even when there were more than enough people "on watch" and it put pressure on the other women who didn't want to be doing it any more than Andrea did!!😡

just have to say people who spend all their time making anti tony edits or anti dany edits or anti literally anything else are sad and i hope they go outside and pet a dog perhaps (i'm just annoyed sorry for venting but really do these people have anything better to do?)
For one second i thought you were talking about me and i was like “did they actually been on my blog?”.
You are 100% right, not liking a character is okay  but make anti edits? actually spending time to make a gifset of a character you hate is kind of pathetic and so so sad.
Lori Grimes from the walking dead is the character i hate the most (she’s been dead for 7 seasons and i still rant about her) but while i have a the walking dead sideblog i never made an edit against her.

The Walking Dead Series Rewrite - Backstory
Pairing: Eventual Daryl Dixon x Reader
Word Count: 1168
Warnings: I don’t think there are any, but if you see something that should be  a warning don’t hesitate to message me and tell me! I would also like to add that I’m in no way, shape or form a writer, so I’m sorry in advanced lmao.
Summary: This is the backstory about you, Y/N L/N, and how your life has been since you were a child, but with a lot of time skips in between, lmao.
Author’s Note: I wanted to create a backstory for this series because I wanted to already show the reader’s life before the apocalypse and how you knew Rick and some others before hand.  Also, if you want to be tagged for this series or my other fics, tell me and I’ll add you! Let me know what you think about this and if you want to request something just send an ask!
Tumblr media
Growing up wasn’t the best experience for you especially not knowing whether your stay was going to be permanent or you’ll just be dumped on someone else. Your parents were killed in a car accident by a drunk driver causing you to be abandoned in the world when you were just five and foster care was the only option for you considering you had no other family members residing in the US.
Foster care took a toll on you because you saw all other the kids yelling for mom and dad while you were stuck calling the people who took care of you Bob and Carly or Eddie and Martha. You always felt like the outcast and kept to yourself most of the time not socializing with any of your temporary “family,” knowing you’d be forced to leave eventually. Being anti-social wasn’t your forte, you were usually an outgoing and friendly child, but you weren’t about to make friends when you knew you’d move to the next home anyways.
After about five years of bouncing to one home to the next, the system found that you had an aunt who just moved from Italy to Virginia. Her not being the in America prevented you from potentially having a place to call home and once she learned about you she didn’t object to the idea of you staying with them.
Jolene and Chris, your aunt and uncle, were very welcoming. They gave you a room that you could decorate to your heart’s desire, something you never got to do. Jolene taught you how to make home cooked meals and the basic household chores where as Chris showed you how to hunt and operate weapons varying from guns to your own fists. “No one can fight your battles for you, only you can,” he would always remind you.
Not long after staying with your relatives, they adopted you and you finally had a place to call home. You were not the anti-social orphan that everyone defined you to be. Feeling the sense of security and stability cracked open your shell and you finally were able to be yourself. You weren’t lost anymore, you found yourself underneath all that pain of feeling lonely, unloved, unwanted, and judged for being someone you never wanted to portray yourself to be.
When your sixteenth birthday rolled around, you didn’t receive a car like everyone else, instead you got a machete that your uncle had made himself. You were in total awe of your shiny new blade and you’d rather have that than a car any day if you were being honest. He already familiarized you on how to utilize a machete along with every other weapon he could ponder, so he took you on a camping trip for the weekend to put your new gift to use.
Later on, your uncle had gotten a job offer in King County, Georgia before your senior year, so one day you and your aunt were going through the attic when you stumbled upon a box filled to the brim with photo albums dating back to god knows when.
You carefully picked up one of the dusty photo albums afraid it would crumble at any given moment and sat with your legs crossed against one of the already packed boxes. Your fingers gracefully traced over the worn photos and delicately flipped over to the next page.
A smile tugged at your lips when you saw your aunt and uncle shoving pieces of their chocolate wedding cake in each other faces. You were about to flip to the next page when a certain photo caught your eye … a picture of your aunt and uncle with a familiar couple. They were all laughing at a dinner table decorated with wine glasses and you curiously frowned because you swore you’d seen them before.
Your thoughts were broken when your aunt came with a smile plastered on her face and started to make her way over. “Ahh, I see you found my photo albums. I was beginning to wonder if they were in my closet downstairs or up here collecting dust,” she joked.
She plopped down beside you with her legs stretched out infront of her and noticed your gaze fell back on the mysterious photo. “Those are your parents, Y/N.” You whipped your head and stared at your aunt seeing her smile sadly, she then went in the box full of photo albums behind her and gathered an album that had, “In Memory of Y/P/N,” written at the top and there were numerous photos of your parents within it.
Both of you spent hours going through memories and listened to her talk about your parents. You both laughed and cried, and you were reminded that they cherished and loved you and they would be so proud of you. You smiled at the thought of them watching over you.
Once you settled into your new home in Georgia, you started the first day of your new school being the new kid, but that was nothing new to you. You weren’t looking to making friends since it was your last year of high school and you would just go your separate ways once you graduated, but you ended up surprising yourself. Three months after school started, you developed a bond between Rick Grimes and Shane Walsh.
You and Rick were attached to each other’s hip doing almost everything together which earned teasing from Shane and students you didn’t even know existed. They would go on and rant on how you two should just make out and date already, but you and Rick would always look at each other and snicker. The relationship was always platonic and forever will be, so the comments never bothered either one of you. Shane and you weren’t as close as you and Rick, but he was the one who would casually flirt with you and you didn’t mind.
After you graduated high school, you decided you wanted to get away from King County even if it meant leaving everyone you cared for. You served four years in the United States Marine Corps before purchasing a home back in King County, Georgia because afterall, it was the place you thought of when you heard the word, home.
A career in law enforcement was always your dream, so when the King County Sheriff’s Department recruited you, you were beyond stoked. You were happily shocked to learn that Rick and Shane still resided in King County and were employed at the department like you.
Rick was married to Lori, a woman you soon became close with, and had a son named Carl, who admired you. Shane was still the player that he was and it didn’t surprise you one bit, you knew it would be hard for him to find someone, but you couldn’t contain the laughter that spilled out of you when he complained about something stupid a girl did. It was like you never left.

Rant
For a while I’ve been running into some interesting posts about Rick, and I say interesting, because some of these arguments about how overall awful Rick Grimes is, come from a section of the fandom that praise and excuse every questionable action if it’s done by a certain redneck and/or grey haired queen.
According to this special kind of Rick haters, there’re specific moments when Rick was especially selfish, manipulative, a terrible leader, a plain asshole, and so on.
Some even like to compare him to Ed and Merle…Yep.
I’ve collected some of my favorite arguments that I’ve read or heard from these haters about why Rick is the absolute worst, and tried my best to understand their reasoning. Let’s start from the beginning, shall we?
*Warning for heavy use of sarcasm and some strong language*
Merle. Everyone remembers the oldest Dixon and his peculiar personality. And we all remember how he and his brother got separated in Atlanta. Yes. It was all Rick’s fault, because, Merle being (probably) high and dangerous, pointing a loaded gun at people in the group, brutalizing them and yelling them racist and sexist insults is definitely Rick’s fault. Rick! You were supposed to let that one pass and just hope nobody got killed instead of handcuffing Merle! How dare you, Rick Grimes? Don’t you know whose brother Merle is and how upset he is going to be when he finds out?
Rick’s assholeness is so strong, it’s even able to make T-Dog trip and drop the handcuff’s key down the drain without him needing to be present. What a dick! It’s not like he went back to Atlanta with Daryl to get Merle out of his dire situation. What a selfish prick! You only went back for the guns, didn’t you? Don’t you know Merle is a good fella by association and totally worth risking your life? He’s Daryl Dixon’s older brother. For that alone, he’s better than you!
Another one of Rick’s most dickhead moments was when he completely dropped the search for Sophia for a few days. I know, what a selfish coward! Rick, it was only your son in the brink of death. You’re the leader. Carol counts on you to find her daughter that not only did you lose somehow, but abandoned too because you were supposed to be an expert walker killer by then. Drop the selfish, fatherly worry, leave your son to die, and go look for that girl who shouldn’t even be your responsibility in the first place!
Oh, and there’s more. Rick turned into a grade ‘A’ asshole at the end of season 2, didn’t he? A dictator. Dictator of a group of people who can up and leave whenever they feel like it…Something I don’t understand is, if no one HAS to follow Rick, why would they continue to do so? To follow such a terrible, selfish, coward, dicktator when no one’s forcing them to? Why subject themselves to live under such an oppressive regime, I wonder? Could it be because if they leave they’d have to be responsible for themselves and they’re just not up for that? I mean, it’s easy. Rick’s responsible for everyone’s actions. Everything ends up being his fault somehow. He’s even responsible for the kids of the group like they were his own. He’s the leader; therefore, it’s his fault Sophia got chased into the woods by a walker. But why would Carol continue to stick around the man that got her daughter killed when she could’ve perfectly gone off into the night in search of that man of honor she so desperately craved for, and send Rick a post card with a picture of…Daryl, probably, since he’s the only honorable man around? Doesn’t matter that said “honorable” man yelled at her in her face, called her a stupid bitch (Daryl sure has a lovely way of talking to women), called her pathetic, blamed her for her daughter’s death (Even though I deeply dislike him, I have to say, I’m with him on this one. Unlike Carol, at least Rick tried to help her. He didn’t just stand there and watch as a flesh eating monster chased her into the woods, letting Lori of all people hold him back) and pointed out to her just how alone and hopeless she was. But that’s okay, because Daryl is allowed to act like a tremendous dick when he’s upset. Let him vent! He’d just lost that little girl that he…uh…well…They occupied the same space for a while, okay? So he was in every right to feel as upset as he needed to, making everything about himself, throwing all his anger on that little girl’s mother who’s duty was to put her grief on hold to comfort that grown ass man, even putting her face up in case he’s feeling in need to punch something. He sure looked like he wanted to.
Nah, but Rick’s still the worst.
And there’s more. Rick’s selfishness reared its ugly head once again when they rescued Maggie and Glenn from Woodbury and he dared, he DARED to tell Daryl he needed him. What a manipulative asshole that Rick is! To use such a delicate situation to take advantage of Daryl’s loyalty and manipulate him into helping him? What a selfish prick! It’s not like it was dark as hell and they were being shot at from left and right, or that Glenn could hardly walk after being tortured by Daryl’s own brother. These are Daryl’s feelings we’re talking about. He was upset and to hell with everything else if Daryl’s upset! Everybody, stop the world and coddle that huge man-child! How dare Rick be so selfish and ask him to wait at least until they got Glenn and Maggie safe back to the prison after they were harassed, tortured and almost executed, to talk to Merle, AKA the causer of such atrocities toward the young couple? How dare you, Rick Grimes? Don’t you know Daryl wants to talk to his torturer of a brother after he lost him because of you?
Good thing Daryl didn’t give in to Rick’s manipulative ways and got what he wanted. He split from the group anyway and of course, got himself caught. So it was up to Rick to risk his selfish ass once more and go back to Woodbury with —still traumatized after Merle took her to the Governor who sexually harassed her— Maggie, to save Daryl and his torturer brother from having to kill each other. How more selfish can Rick get? Can’t he stop thinking about his own gain for two minutes?
The worst of Rick’s selfishness and dickness comes right after, though, when he DOESN’T, I repeat, he DOESN’T immediately jump to welcome Merle to the prison to live with Maggie and Glenn after he tortured Glenn, brought Maggie to the governor to be harassed, tied Glenn to a chair and threw a walker at him, and almost executed them both. How dare Rick have doubts about letting torturer, racist Merle into their home and become part of their family? How dare he make Pookie upset? So much selfishness going on around, it’s unbelievable!
But good thing Daryl didn’t give a shit about those selfish assholes and came back to the prison with his torturer of a brother in tow. He even saved selfish Rick’s ass in the process. That lousy leader surely owes him his life. And good thing Daryl saw to his own interest for once (‘cuz he’s so selfless, oh yes) and FORCED Glenn to just be okay with the man who kidnapped him and Maggie for absolutely no reason and brought them to the hands of a maniac, living with them from then on:
“Don’t be selfish, Glenn! Yer not s’pposed to make me upset. I’m Derle. Ma feelings come first. And Rick was a total dick for not putting down the welcome mat for my torturer brother Merle! Don’t he know he’s supposed to give me what I want? Besides, Merle ain’t a rapist. He’s just a torturer, sexist and violent racist like myself. Oh, yeah. I tortured a kid, too. Totally Rick’s fault, though. He made me do it…”
Really? Season 2 Rick Grimes, who at the time of the farm couldn’t even leave Randall to die in that fence, told the man who just happened to have a brother who liked to torture innocent people for fun, to torture him? Suuuuuuure.
“…We like to call women names, me an’ ma brother: like stupid/dumb bitches, whores and ugly skanks (Hey, that one was dead, so it don’t count!). We yell at them all we want. Heck, I even come off as shy to the fangirls even when I’ve rudely yelled my piece of mind on people’s faces for half the series. It’s all part of our Dixon charm. Like my jokes toward Glenn. No harm feelings. It’s all in good fun. He still thinks I’m one of the good things in this world (LMFAO. What a forced fucking line, my God!), even when I’ve been racist toward him, put ma brother’s hand in his backpack even if it grossed him out, forced him to live with his torturer, got him killed, leaving his pregnant wife a widow, then went to Hilltop for absolutely no reason other than to force ma’ presence on her and putting her life and her baby’s life in danger by solely showing up there when the saviors were after my ugly ass self— not giving a crap how much it clearly hurt Maggie having me around— till she forgave me. To hell with Maggie’s pain. I’m Derle and ma feelings come first. Maggie had to make me feel good about myself and absolve me of any guilt. Wasn’t ma fault, anyway. I’m Daryl and I had to punch Negan ‘cuz I was pissed. Dwight stole ma’ vest, ma’ bike and ma’ crossbow and killed my best friend in the world, Denise. I had to avenge those very important things to me, along with my bruised pride. Don’t matter I’m pushing fifty and should have at least some control of my actions by now. And while we’re at it, I’mma pretend like it wasn’t my idea to kill the saviors in the compound in exchange for food from The Hilltop. All the blame will fall on Rick’s shoulders, anyway. Don’t matter it wasn’t his idea. Don’t matter it wasn’t his, but my fist connecting with Negan’s jaw. I can act as reckless as I want without repercussions ‘cuz I can do no wrong. I can get a teenage girl drunk on moonshine, get drunk myself (and very violent) and whip my dick out with her in the room (Hey, I turned around!), pee in front of her, yell at her, make her feel bad for having a good childhood, manhandle her outta the shag to teach her to use ma’ crossbow while pressing my body up against her back. (No, it ain’t inappropriate! I’m Derle and I’m always innocent) I can yell at her, mock her pain and suicide attempt after she saw her dead mother walking out of that barn, and label it as just a call for attention! Mock her way of coping with her dad’s death, comparing her with a dumb college bitch. I can tell her all the people she cares about are dead, that she ain’t ever gonna see her sister again and there ain’t hope left. But it’s totally fine ‘cuz I was upset! I’d just seen Hershel’s head being sliced off the rest of his body and I needed to lash out at his teenage daughter (who saw the whole thing too, by the way), ‘cuz when I’m upset, don’t matter who’s with me or how old they are or who they’ve just lost, they gotta think of ma’ feelings first and comfort ME! But all is good, cuz don’t matter how gross I act, all I gotta do is flex ma’ biceps, ride ma’ brother’s neo-Nazi bike (yeah, I know that shit stayed at the prison, but he’d still be riding that shit if it hadn’t) and blow shit up to have fangirls drooling over me and praising or excusing all the gross shit I do.”
Seriously, how does he get away with all of this? Had Rick done half this shit, you haters would, to this day, still be calling him a violent sexist, racist torturer and you know it!
Anyway, let’s move on.
Another one of my favorite arguments to why Rick sucks so bad is when some of you Rick haters gave him shit when he took some time for himself and his son during season 4A. Like he wasn’t busting his back under the Georgia sun, from sunrise to sundown, to put food on their plates. But who gives a shit about fresh vegetables when Daryl can go out, shoot a couple arrows and have some real food on their plates instead? Everybody pat Daryl in the back and shake his recently licked hand (gross) because he’s the real hero and Rick is just being selfish and useless again. “What do you mean Rick’s growing food? He’s not bringing in as much meat as Daryl Dixon, so it doesn’t count!”
Honestly, I never got why Carol gave him shit for stepping away from leadership (and killing for the group), after she gave him shit for being a bad leader. She wants him to lead; she doesn’t want him to lead? I don’t get it. I mean, they had Sasha, Glenn, Hershel, Daryl and herself to lead the group during Rick’s break. Why did she need Rick for? To look for the Governor and kill him? Well, he’s Rick and everything is his responsibility, right? It’s not like Daryl had THE biggest reason to kill him. The Governor only killed his brother after all.
But seriously, what was her deal with Rick? Whatever it was, if Rick was doing it, it wasn’t good enough. Was she taking on her late friend Lori who never seemed satisfied with anything Rick did or say, maybe? Oh, right. Rick was abusing Lori by not talking to her during the prison, so he deserves it. That’s why Carol gave Rick her abusive husband’s watch, because she saw and abusive man in Rick (or what I like to call: “The reach of the century”). So it’s like she was telling him: “Here, keep this watch, you abusive bastard. It suits you. It belonged to another abusive bastard.” Seriously? After everything Rick went through with Lori— and by everything I mean, Lori picking up one-sided fights with Rick before the apocalypse just to get a reaction she knew she wasn’t gonna get from him (Lori, you should’ve gone to Daryl if you wanted a man to yell in your face and call you a bitch…Oh wait. He did. Or was it Rick he called a bitch that one time?), getting pissed off at Rick for being quiet, calm, and reasonable, telling him to speak about his feelings then acting impatient like she didn’t want to hear him after all when he tried, telling him she doubted his love for her and Carl in front of Carl, followed by Lori abandoning him in that hospital, not even bothering to check for her own damn self if her husband was alive (well, I guess we can’t really blame her for that. Why would she risk her life for someone she wasn’t sure she even loved anymore?), and just a couple weeks later, she was playfully having sex in the woods with Rick’s best friend like they’d been at it for a while; then, when said friend turned dangerous, she insinuated to Rick, in not too subtle terms, that he had to kill Shane to protect her and Carl, and when Rick did just that, not only to protect them, but himself as well (Yes, Shane took Rick to that clearing to kill him, even if some of you like to brush over that fact just so you can compare it to Carol killing Karen and David. Seriously, you would defend Shane over Rick even when he tried to rape Lori, just so you can frame Rick as the bad villain that exiled poor, innocent Carol… *smh*), she pushed him away — After all that treatment Rick got from Lori, which reeks of psychological/emotional abuse for it left Rick feeling insecure and like everything he did or say was the wrong thing in her eyes, he was supposed to pretend like nothing had happened and things between them were fine and dandy? He was already giving her his share of food and keeping her and Shane’s baby alive. Wasn’t that enough?
Nope. I guess it wasn’t. Rick was totally being abusive....But yelling in someone’s face that they got their child killed because they minded other people’s business instead of keeping an eye on them and telling them just how alone they are while calling them a stupid bitch isn’t abusive? Suuure.
Huh. Interesting how Daryl blaming Carol for her daughter’s death parallels so perfectly Negan blaming Rick for Carl’s…Interesting.
But I’ll give it you. Rick WAS a dick when he exiled Carol. Yes. And he should’ve left the decision to the Council instead of making it himself— although I do understand why he might’ve wanted to make sure Carol was away from his kids when, had they been the ones sick, there was a high chance she could’ve killed them if it was for the benefit of the whole group— but don’t tell me those were mercy killings on Carol’s part, because all I saw was Karen walking into that room with just a cough, then next thing I know— and judging by how awfully smitten Tyreese was with Karen, he probably was gone the time it took him fetching those flowers—she’s turned into a pile of ashes. Glenn survived. Sasha survived. Lizzie survived. There’s no guarantee that Karen and David would’ve died. Both Rick and Carol fucked up. Both did things they shouldn’t have done and made decisions that weren’t theirs to make, but only one of those ended with two innocents dead.
But who cares about that? Rick’s still a coward for not immediately telling Daryl that he exiled Carol when he got back from that run. Wait...so Carol didn’t just stand there watching as Tyreese and Rick beat the shit out of each other and kept her mouth shut about killing Karen? Oh, I believe she did.
Also, Rick exiled Carol, yes, and that makes him the worst and blah, blah, blah, but Daryl didn’t seem as upset with Rick as he should’ve, considering Rick pretty much sent the love of his life to an almost certain death. Hell, he even seemed more upset about losing Rick when he was yelling at Beth. He almost teared up at saying his name. And this is why I often wonder, how is it that to this day, Rick is still getting shit for that, even after he accepted he made a mistake and apologized to Carol, but Daryl, expert tracker he is, was instantly forgiven for not even making the slightest attempt at trying to find Carol??? Oh, right. Daryl was huuuuurting during that time, so he gets a pass on that. He always gets a pass on everything.
Let’s continue, though.
I’ve read more than once the argument saying that “Rick is a narcissist who thinks he’s better than everyone and no one else can handle things like he can, and he’s a jerk to people for the same reason,” from some of you, and it just baffles me. Didn’t Carol treat the Alexandrians like little kids (except for Sam, who probably would’ve preferred the kiddie treatment), and didn’t she totally patronize everyone at the Kingdom and was unnecessarily harsh on everyone, calling the place and everybody living there a joke? Didn’t she also act like a total jerk to Jerry, the most adorable person on the apocalyptic world, after he made her a pie? And didn’t Derle act all high and moral, in other words, a total dick toward Bob, an alcoholic, because he had a bottle of liquor in his pack instead of medicine after he was more than helpful in their search for medicine then prepared the shots that saved Sasha, Glenn and Lizzie? And wasn’t he a gratuitous jerk toward Denise more than once, making fun of her anxious gestures, while she was talking to him? They did. They fucking did. They are BOTH guilty of the exact same thing you blame Rick for…But oh, no! God FORBID Rick Grimes from being a jerk toward Gabriel, who tried to get them all kicked out of Alexandria.
So if Rick is harsh on people, he’s a narcissistic dick, but Carol is queen and totally in her right because damn! Those overly nice kingdomers and their overbearing hospitality won’t leave her in peace! And Daryl is…the absolute hero? Did I get it right?
Oh, but there’s the Andrea, Tyreese, Michonne, Glenn, and OBG thing at the prison. I mean, Rick handled Andrea pretty roughly when she showed up at the prison, and he nudged Michonne’s bullet wound and was overall awful toward her, and he choke-held Glenn against the wall. I know, right? What a tremendous dick!…Except, Rick was hardcore hallucinating during that time. He was having actual conversations over the phone with Lori, Shane, Jacquie, etc. He saw Lori several times, and Shane too. His mind was in complete wreck. He was going through a psychotic episode, so bad, he’d had to be medicated, and possibly, temporarily put away into a mental health facility had the world been what it used to. He was NOT in control of his actions. But somehow, he was on his own, armed, wandering the portions of the prison that were infested with walkers, going outside the fences in search for his wife’s ghost, putting himself in danger over and over again, and aside from Glenn and Hershel who tried to talk to him once or twice, no one else even bothered to help him, or at least, prevent him from endangering his life or the life of others. They all just let him fend for himself.
But putting blame aside, shouldn’t Rick’s temporary mental illness excuse him from his deplorable actions during that time (which lasted till the end of season 3) or that only works with that unwashed man-child?
And since Rick had to pull himself out of that mental breakdown on his own, his self control was still pretty weak when he beat up Tyreese into unconsciousness. Even then, he still tried to keep himself together and reason with Tyreese, but I guess his still frail mind just lost it after those two brutal, and very much unprovoked, punches.
But wait…do you even remember Tyreese? He’s the one who totally didn’t get Judith out of the prison. It was all Carol who saved that ungrateful bastard’s daughter, even when he got hers killed, because that’s how selfless and forgiving Carol is. And she singlehandedly saved Rick’s ungrateful ass out of Terminus, right after he sent her to her death. She is so the queen of the universe!
…Please.
Carol created the diversion and killed some snipers, yes, no one argues that, but if Rick hadn’t gotten loose and killed those two butchers, they would’ve still gotten slaughtered, your precious Daryl included, and we wouldn’t have had the absolute best reunion in the history of the walking dead. Forget about Rick finding his son. That Caryl hug is the real deal! *wink*
Now we’re on the shipping subject, remember when some of you gave Rick and Michonne shit for being selfish in bed right after Denise got killed? What a couple of selfish asses! They’re so meant to be!
Well…at least when Rick and Michonne are being selfish, they either stay within earshot in case shit hits the fan and they’re needed by their people, or they do it while ALSO gathering supplies for their community; the community they’ll come back to no matter what. Unlike Derle’s unreliable ass who fucks off every five minutes for some personal revenge, or Carol who downright abandoned them (also, right after Denise was killed), knowing there was a war coming and knowing she’d be needed to go all Rambo -armed with machine guns up her sleeves- on the saviors, but unwilling to kill for them anymore.
“Good luck fuckers! It’s time for some me time.”
But Carol and Daryl are totally not selfish, though. Rick is the only selfish one around. Sure.
Hey, I’m not blaming Carol. Good on her. She deserved her time off from killing for them. Hey! Just like Rick in season 4— No wait, Rick didn’t deserve shit, because he never killed for them, and he totally hadn’t carried the weight of leadership all the way from the farm since no one else wanted to burden themselves with it.
What am I saying? Rick LOVES to be the leader. He gets off on the power it gives him. Even though he’s said MORE THAN ONCE that he didn’t ask to be in that position and basically, didn’t want to be in it. Even though he seemed perfectly happy at the prison with planting veggies, setting up snares in the woods, feeding the animals, and raising his kids as his main obligations; even though he told Maggie he’ll follow her lead once the war’s over. Even though he told Michonne he’d be up to lead the new world after the war, but ONLY if she’s by his side leading with him (Oh, in case you don’t know what I’m talking about, this conversation took place in 7x12, that Richonne episode a lot of you sabotaged by not watching). If he were in fact thirsty for power, like some of you like to claim, why on earth doesn’t he take full advantage of it and enjoys the privileges that come with it like Negan does? Why doesn’t he have the first claim on every supply they find and keep the best for himself? Why doesn’t he sit in a throne and have people call him King? Why does he even bother to go out on supply runs anymore, risking his life, when he could snap his fingers and have ten of his people doing it for him? Why doesn’t he just send out orders left and right while he sits back on his rocking chair while sipping on margaritas?
Nah, but he still deserved Negan to humiliate that power thirst out of him.
And just in case you’re that special kind of Rick hater that says: “…But if it weren’t for Rick, none of the saviors mess would’ve happened!”
Excuse me; I must’ve missed the scene were Rick put up signs leading toward Alexandria, or the scene where he shot up a flair to let their position known to the saviors. If we’re gonna start handing out blame for their encounter with Negan, your precious Daryl had A TON more to do with the saviors mess than Rick ever did. He was the one with the brilliant idea to kill all the saviors in exchange for food (and a cow) from the Hilltop. He was the one (along with Abraham) that underestimated the saviors in the first place, forgetting to mention that tiny HUGE detail that he had the advantage of an RPG when he finished those bikers on the road in the blink of an eye. And he was the one that let Dwight get away, allowing him to later lead the saviors to Alexandria...But you’re right! I do blame Rick for that. I blame him for listening to Daryl’s dumb ass idea and trusting his gut when he clearly shouldn’t have!
And as for the whole Oceanside community argument... I know. What they did was awful in every way you look at it. But I find hilarious how the blame is put mostly on Rick’s shoulders. I must’ve missed the scene where Rick says, “Here’s what we’re gonna do. We’re gonna go in and rob those women of their guns, and you’re all gonna do it and like it.” And where is the scene where it’s stated that this was his idea at all? It’s more than likely that it could have been Tara’s…or even your precious Daryl’s idea? It was HIS idea to attack the saviors first, after all. It could’ve perfectly been his idea this time too. And even if it wasn’t and it was in fact Rick’s idea, Daryl was there as well, setting up explosives and taking those women hostages and stripping them off their guns like the rest of them. And unlike under Negan’s ruling, no one’s life (or that of their loved one’s) is at stake if they don’t follow Rick’s “orders.” They’re all free to either go with him or stay back if they don’t agree with his approach, or speak up if they don’t agree with his plans (though they probably should do it before said plan is being executed, Derle!). Everything they do as a group is on everyone who participates. They were ALL there. ALL of them who went there willingly are equally as guilty and horrible as Rick.
*whinny voice*  “Oh, but Pookie’s still so good and pure…”
LMAO! No, he’s not.
And last but not least, the Jadis thing. *Sighs* I mean, this woman betrayed Rick and his family, shot him on the side, threw him down the wall and down the mountain of garbage, took him and Carl to Negan where Negan almost killed Carl, had one of his people beat up Michonne, made him fight a walker twice with no means to defend himself, stripped him down and took photos of him half naked for her own twisted pleasure, objectifying him and downright sexually harassing him, but he turns his back on her once…ONCE!...and you’re trying to paint Jadis as his poor little victim and Rick as the mean woman abandoner????
Wow…*snorts*
To be honest, I’m not all that surprised. Like I said before, some of you would defend Shane (who tried to rape Lori, let’s not forget) over Rick, to make Rick look as the bad guy… Again, SMDH.
Now, I’m not saying Rick’s never done inexcusable shit. Of course he has. Among other things the, at times, indiscriminate killing (that of which Carol AND Daryl are also guilty of), he punched Aaron without having a reason to and threatened to kill him, he killed police man Bob when he tried to run away, his overall behavior during 5B-6A, he considered giving Michonne up to the Governor. He backed out, yes. But still considered it and got Merle to —“Oh, that’s right! Daryl lost his brother for real this time because of this and Rick is the one to blame!”
Give. Me. A. Fucking. Break.
Merle already had the idea to ambush the Governor set in his mind way before Rick even told him anything about taking Michonne to him. He was going to do it anyway. It was HIS damn decision.
But good thing though, that good ol’ Daryl Dixon, redneck with a heart of gold (even though he was very into killing innocent workers from the sanctuary, rammed a truck into the Sanctuary and effectively killed a bunch while handing Eugene an escape plan in a silver platter which then led to the saviors attacking both Alexandria and The Kingdom…Good job, dumbass!), got to kick evil Rick Grimes’ ass this season and finally stood up to him for all those times he was a prick toward him…
LMFAO!!
Standing up to Rick for what, exactly? For taking him in as part of his family? For trusting him? For influencing him into becoming a better person?
Yes. You read that right. Rick had a major role in Daryl becoming a somewhat decent person. Remember when Daryl asked Rick if Glenn was worth risking his life back in season 1 after he got taken by The Vatos? We all know what Rick’s answer to that was, and that answer had a huge impact on Daryl’s future actions. If Daryl ever learned to care for other people, aside from his brother and himself, to the point of risking his life for them, that’s the moment that did it. Shocking, right? Selfish Rick Grimes taught golden boy Daryl Dixon how to be selfless? How about that? Hell, even Merle found his brother awfully changed after those months spent with his buddy officer friendly, and I’m thinking Merle knew what he was talking about since he knew Daryl all his life. And to quote Merle’s exact words to Daryl after he stopped him from robbing that family on the road:
“Is that something your sheriff Rick taught you?”
Yes, Merle. That’s exactly what Rick taught him. After all, before Rick came along, Daryl was just a racist, sexist, violent redneck waiting for the chance to rob a camp filled with innocent people, and children among them…wait, that sounds familiar. And Rick’s supposed to be the bad influence on Daryl? Ha! Yeah right! And if there’s ever been a Merle 2.0 in the show (what I’ve seen some of you like to call Rick), it’s Daryl himself. That’s exactly who he would be, had Rick not entered his life.
You can praise and excuse Daryl’s questionable behavior all you want, but try to make him look as if he’s better than Rick…and even…better than Ezekiel (excuse me for a moment while I have a laughing fit) out of some of yours desperate need for him to be with,  also NOT better than Rick, Carol!?!? Not a freaking chance! That would require for him to start acting like the grown man he is, taking full responsibility of his actions (not just admitting guilt to get forgiveness after he gets people killed), and drop a whole lot of that innate selfishness, that of which Rick’s being widely accused of having, but Daryl himself has in spades. And maybe take a fucking shower without having to be threatened to be hosed down if he doesn’t. Gross!
Oh...one more thing. Some of you actually want to steal Judith from Rick and Michonne when they just lost Carl so Caryl can raise her? Are you freaking for real?!?!
