Tardíamente un recuerdo para Concha Velasco (DEP), gran actriz y bellísima mujer que cantó de forma ocasional, recordada en lo musical sobre todo por la canción anti yeyé "La Chica Yeyé" - película "Historias de la Televisión", 1965- que es todo un clásico de cualquier modo (sin Tony Leblanc rebuznando, mejor). Ambos aparecieron también en "Una Vez al Año ser Hippy No Hace Daño" (1969), como parte del grupo Los Hippy-Loyas con Manolo Gómez Bur y Alfredo Landa completando el grotesco grupo, sátira reaccionaria a la larga aceptada como humorada por los propios "groovy". Por otro lado estaba Paco Martinez Soria pelando al cero la cabeza de su nieto, batería de Los Gritos, "por su bien" en "Abuelo Made In Spain" (1969). Hay que comprender que esas nuevas formas, el rock y el pop, no tenían en este país sus raíces y eran vistas con malos ojos y enorme desagrado tanto por los viejos del lugar como por las fuerzas vivas. Mucho más que en UK o USA seguro. Personalmente me quedo con las letras más positivas de "A Tu Manera" o "Beatnik" de la película "Pero... ¿En Que Pais Vivimos?" (1967), que Conchita protagonizó con el astro de la copla Manolo Escobar. También muy chula "Calor" de un EP de 1965, recuperada hace tres años en la serie televisiva "Killing Eve". Paradójicamente sube con el frío de diciembre.

yes they will say the most earnest shit to each other and then immediately try to cringe out of their own bodies. they are best friends but they would rather jump out of a window before admitting it. they are incredibly devoted and grateful to one another but you could not water board that out of either of them.

the only thing that can get either of them to admit how much they care for each other is if the other is in life threatening danger and not a second before aakjshdks

I might be really messed up but I also kinda want her husband to care so little of her that he’s literally using her as a part of his business deals. sharing her with his clients—including ghost.

it’s supposed to be just for the night to sweeten the deal between your husband and undercover!ghost who is posing as a weapons dealer for the mission, but something about the way ghost looks at you feels different.

he doesn’t make you feel used like the other men do. the way he touches you is caring: the way he talks to you gentle.

it all feels safe, and good. it’s all something you have never known before, so is it really your fault that mister bennett is suddenly all you can think about?

i have a lot of bones to pick this chapter and i will get to that but i'm still really pressed by how rachel depicts kronos apparently grieving having to kill hera in her vision

rachel does this really gross thing where at some point in the narrative, she'll have the male abuser depict some kind of sadness in regards to his female victim, but it is not remorse. it really reads like whitewashing the abuse itself because "can't you see how upset the abuser is that he has to do this :("

apollo got that really disgusting pov chapter talking about his perspective on persephone after raping her and that was bad enough, but then you also see kronos and his relationship with hera being sanitized or even shipped, when hera said verbatim that he abused her and she did not want to sleep with him, she had hoped she could just charm him. the narrative explicitly points out that kronos is a chronic abuser - he kills or severely injures rhea in a fit of rage after using all her powers, he frequently drives away any nymph or consort who approaches him, and he spends who knows how long mentally torturing hera.

there's another essay tucked into that but i just find it so fucking egregious that rachel wants to portray kronos as being upset he has to kill hera because of his own feelings for her, when the fact of the matter is he is choosing to kill her, just like he chose to kill rhea, and swallow his sons, and tear hera in half. depicting an abuser (a serial abuser, in this case) as being upset over an action he's choosing to do for his own benefit is ... a choice, and a disturbing one. why are we centering the abuser in a sympathetic light when he is still ultimately abusing someone???
