Top 3 underrated YouTube channels I like and you should look at:
Tirade: scary games, responds to comments, always super nice. Check out his videos, or just leave an encouraging comment.
hodge podge: cosy games, very chill and relaxing voice, uploads a lot of farming games and has lots of completed series organised into playlists
reubengv: video essay type videos about British TV, not as underrated as the others but his videos are really interesting, especially the one about Jam.

mvp yaai 🥺
@adanima tagging you here!
right! so.
the premise of the fic is mvp goes to visit yaai, which is not a very unique concept in itself. but i've got this very particular idea of yaai in my head, and i've come to terms with the fact that no one is going to magically write her for me so i gotta do it myself 😅
in my head, yaai is not very learned. she's village folk, and she doesn't speak very much, but she's very sweet and she's got this simplicity about her that often cuts through the murkiness of a messy situation. there's a lot of lingering grief about how she let her only daughter / pete's mother suffer at the hands of pete's father, but she's surprisingly frank when it comes to talking about that, and she lives by the idea that there's no point in wishing the worst parts of your life undone, because that would be undoing the best parts, too, and you cannot have one without the other. (she loves pete very very much.)
pete keeps secrets from her, and she knows this, and she knows she's better off not knowing. most of the time her worry for pete is in the background -- something she's learned to live alongside. but pete's disappearance scared her terribly.
anyway! that one canon phone call with her is rotating in my brain 24/7, and i just wanna write lots of words about her. and also about vegas and macau having to live with house lizards lmao. i don't have very much written, but here's a tiny bit from before they get there:
"Don't take this the wrong way," Pete says, which isn't a very promising start. "I didn't think you'd want to come? Or, well. That you'd — have a good time."
"Why not," Vegas says, eyes narrowed.
"It's just very, uh," and Pete scrunches his entire face, "rural?"
"Okay," Vegas says. "And you don't think we can handle that?"
"I didn't say that," Pete says immediately. "But have you ever been anywhere like that? Or stayed overnight?"
Vegas can feel a smile spreading across his face. "You think we're spoiled, don't you?"

am i trying my hand at a shitty fyodor analysis? yes. yes i am. this may be slightly deranged as it is also 3am where i live but i wanted to take a closer look into the similarities/asagiris line the fyodor is based on the joker. specifically, he mentions the dark knight joker, and imo this is where everything gets a little muddled.
personally i havent seen the joker (as in the movie) and i havent watched the dark knight in a while, but the difference between the imaginings is very focused in backstory. the dark knight features much more as a backstory for two face and not the joker, its just the joker who backs batman into a corner: either you make the city turn on the greatest politician its had, or you sacrifice yourself. from my understanding of the joker’s version, hes a much more anti-societal character, and while an argument can be made for fyodors dislike of abilities and wish to destroy them and the similarity there, i genuinely am not qualified enough to say.
but dark knight joker does make a good argument. for one, the introductory story of the joker changes every time. the repeat line of “do you want to know how i got these scars?” is the only part of his story that does not change. the only reason i point this out is because of the mystery behind fyodors backstory and his ability. this also ties into what i would argue to be the strongest point of fyodors inspiration by dark knight!joker; his introductory scene on ace’s ship and the ultimate killing of everyone on it.
why do i cite this scene in particular? routinely when joker shows up he tends to spin a small story about himself before killing everyone in the room, including allies. during fyodors introduction on ace’s ship he proceeds to follow this closely. spins a lie about his ability and kills every member on the ship, including karma, who’s pov we follow.
in relation to the most recent chapter, i think fyodor is hopping on this plan a bit as well. screw with sigma with some indication of himself (i.e., that of the split personalities) but ultimately he does plan on killing sigma and dazai, and (possibly?) chuuya as well.
but not only do i think this relates to fyodors introduction, oh no, i think this also sheds more light on nikolai and fyodors relationship, purely due to the fact that the dark knight is a movie which shows the origin of two face and how joker fits in. obviously i could go on with how dark knight!joker is much better of a manipulator than other characters (the use of harvey dent as two face, cornering batman, etc) but nikolai and fyodor are referenced to have a past together, and nikolai is flighty in an almost similar way!
without confirmation, i cant say for sure that nikolai and fyodors dynamic was 100% meant to be read as that dynamic from the movie, but i think it can shed light on the particular way the characters interact. of course nikolai comes to the conclusion of killing fyodor to release himself from his birdcage, whatever trap nikolai feels he is under could be implied to have been caused by fyodor, and i only say that due to the connection with the dark knight. harvey dent only becomes two face because his girlfriend gets literally blown up by the joker. so why does nikolai become, well, nikolai?

The Joker is Wild is an episode that really doesnt work where it is in the show
the idea that BJ is set off by like. jealous rage or whatever over Hawkeye comparing him to Trapper just doesnt work so late in the show when there's been 0 indication that BJ is jealous about Trapper at all. it feels like it comes out of nowhere, just a half-assed sort of reason given to set him off
ive mentioned this before here and I know its a hot take within this fandom but the supposed Trapper Complex just doesnt exist. in the 8 seasons that BJ is present in the show, I can think of three times Trapper's name comes up around him
Period of Adjustment, where he brings up that he feels like he hates Trapper. should be noted that BJ here is at about the lowest point we see him at, he's in complete despair, and he's also blind drunk. he also specifically brings up that he feels this way because Trapper has gone home- it has nothing to do with Hawkeye
Depressing News, Hawkeye refers to BJ as being the 'same size, same shape' as Trapper, and BJ's reaction can be construed as being not exactly pleased about it. I think this reads more as him just not being happy about literally being called Trapper's replacement, not him being jealous
then, of course, The Joker is Wild
because of this it really just doesnt make sense for BJ to suddenly have this jealousy in The Joker is Wild, not this late in the show. it would've honestly worked so much better if this episode happened back in season 4, because then you could've made that jealousy believable with BJ still establishing himself in camp and Hawkeye still dealing with Trapper's departure. but as it is, set in season 11, it really just doesnt work. its such a He Would Not Fucking Say That episode

I have spent the last 2 days perusing the extended documentation of the current state of CSS specifications.
Sometimes my hyperfixation will activate on the most ridiculous and objectively boring topics. But also I am EXTREMELY hyped about the recent additions of color() and :has(). (which are not really that recently added but I don't typically spend much time on the minutiae of coding language development)

MAC MAC. SORRY I GOTTA RANT IN UR INBOX I’M HAVING MAD AT GENLOSS THOUGHTS. BUT THAT POST ABT THE BACKROOMS/POOLROOMS AND UR TAGS ABT WHAT YOUTUBERS DID TO IT GOT ME THINKIN. THIS IS THE EXACT PROBLEM WITH GENLOSS. ranboo took an already potentially scary concept—the deterioration of something when it’s been recorded over and over again until it’s incomprehensible, which could have been really cool if he had done it as an analog horror and made it so reality itself was deteriorating around them—and just fuckin. put Ooh Spooky Scary things in it and completely botched the concept. the fuckinggg. hey heres a big scary corporation CLEARLY WATCHING THE CHARACTERS!! ISN’T THAT SOOO SCARY AAAA!!!1! and the wire monster. and the “twist” villain hetch. the deaths. like. do u know brian david gilbert’s video Teaching Jake About The Camcorder??? that’s similar to what i wanted from genloss. if genloss was like some old video or show LIKE A SITCOM!! OR A GAME SHOW!! OR A HOME VIDEO!!! and the first season was was like almost completely normal and the second one was like a replay of the same episodes but Just Slightly To The Left and it progressed until it turned into something horribly irreparably distorted THAT WOULD BE COOL. THAT’S WHAT I WANTED. AUGH. PAIN. backrooms 🤝 genloss: oooh spooky scary monster makes things scary right??? ok sry i’m done i just HADDD 2 RANT. OK BYE
GODDDDD NO WHISKEY COME BACK UR SO SO SO SO RIGHT. I THOUGHT ABOUT GENLOSS AS I WAS WRITI G THOSE TAGS. actualy i was really thinking about the charlie/tommy/ranboo youtube vids where they just say "we're in the backrooms!11!1!" over and over again. like. aughghghhhg. god. genloss rlly is just ooooo let me shove this spooky scary thing in your face with 0 subtlety. there u go i have made horror. like thats NOT HOW IT FUCKING WORKS.
