One thing about shipping that's annoying is when in fanfic the canon love interest (or if there's a love triangle) they make a character completely OOC or over the top abusive. Or just exist to be a punching bag. Comes across as unnecessary character bashing just let them be friends instead or don't have them in ths story
Here's the thing: It's very hard to write a character, especially a villain, in a ship because that automatically makes them OOC. The whole idea of "I can fix them" being a thing and having whomever actually break through to them is possibly already OOC. Most likely, if this was canon, that character, let's say Angel Dust, probably wouldn't give you the time of day. Especially since a lot of women ship themselves with Angel.
Side note: I'm not upset or trying to offend any woman who ships themselves or their female OCs with Angel Dust. Frankly, Idc because it's just a ship and it won't affect canon. I'm just using that simply as an example of a character being OOC.
I do agree with the characters that get their personalities flipped to be abusive. I don't understand that one, it's strange. I get not liking canon ships, but you can just have the characters not be in a relationship in your story/AU. Or, my personal favorite and preferred choice: POLYCULE!
Never read one with a character being a punching bag that wasn't already sorta canon. Like I kinda write Moxxie getting pushed around or being the butt-end of jokes because that's canon to HB.

howdy, world!
my name is second (although given my icon and general presence, i don’t mind being called bee). i am 25 and i use they/them pronouns. i’m mainly a hermitcraft fan (i main joe hills, a fact that will become immediately obvious if you follow this blog), although i’m also a big fan of empires smp, the life series/traffic smps, and am at my heart a technoblade main. i also watch a decent amount of vault hunters when it’s around.
my fics:
my ao3 is bee_4. the thing you’ve most likely heard of on there is either “the inner mechanism of a black box” or “this is about a stuffed bird”. if i could make you read one other thing on there, i would probably currently choose either “to convey a certain brilliance” or “cura te ipsum”, although if it’s on my ao3, as a general rule, i think it’s very good and you should read it.
#a bee fic is my fic tag. in it you will find a fairly consistent stream of ficlets because the ability to put whatever i want on tumblr is one i frequently abuse. there are a lot of these that aren’t currently on ao3, and may never be (as i tend to only transfer over my favorites). enjoy this access to my brain!
as a general rule, in addition to the above: you have my permission to do fanart or my fic, write a fic of my fic, write a fic using the concept of one of my fics or an au i’ve talked about, or in general transform my work however you see fit. we’re all writing fanfic here! my one request is that, if you are using my plot or au as i wrote it, you credit me somewhere, and that you never take my exact words and copy them. other than that, feel free to do as you will! (i’d also love if you tagged me in it so i can see it and fanboy about it, but this is not a required step, lol.)
some other common tags:
#answered: the tag i use on all of my asks. good to go through if you sent me an ask and want to see if i’ve answered it (although my askbox is often the place things go to die so don’t be offended if i haven’t, i’m at 1.8k asks at the moment i think haha i’m so sorry) or if you want to block it when i get on an answering spree. i’ll also tag asks with the name of the asker, if i’m provided one.
#stream liveblogging: the tag i use as a catch-all for silly liveblog things. good to block if you don’t want constant random insistent joe hills posting, lol.
#hermitcraft, #empires smp, #double life smp: the place to find my original content about a given series i’m watching! these are currently the ones i’m most likely to post about, although in general you can find original content for a particular creator or smp under what i think their most common tag is. this is not always an ACCURATE assessment, but what can you do.
#stuffed bird art: specific tag for fanart of stuffed bird. this tag largely exists because you all are insane and i love you and i ran out of characters in stuffed bird’s endnote to link all of it there.
#magical girl scar: this au is taking over my blog and i am going insane but also it’s very fun so it probably won’t stop taking over my blog. click this tag to see stuff for it.
in addition, i will do my best to tag original content with any trigger i have been asked to tag it with. however, i am often bad about both spoiler and trigger tags, as i personally have very wide and flexible boundaries and therefore can be bad about judging other people’s. let me know if i need one on something there isn’t one on and i’ll do my best to fix it. in addition, i do not guarantee i will tag anything i reblog. i make attempts for major spoiler tags or things i think need a tag that op didn’t put on there, but even that is very very spotty, and i don’t want people to assume i will tag to a level of consistency i don’t and get hurt, so i generally refuse as a rule to guarantee that. sorry!
anything else?
i don’t typically answer asks that are about discourse-laden topics. this includes stuff like shipping or dream or other things that are guaranteed to make at least one person mad. this is less because those topics make me upset (they don’t) and more because i hate getting in arguments on the internet, so if i actually do a discourse its normally because i’ve actually been really annoyed by something. otherwise i will politely pretend your question didn’t exist. (this does unfortunately include when you are not trying to discourse and are just sorta chatting about one of the topics i decide i don’t want to answer - i’m sorry! i promise i don’t care, i just am hyper-aware of the fact i have over five thousand follwers at this point.)
my queue is normally between two and three days behind the current day because i shove so much stuff in it. despite this, there is no consistency to how i decide if something goes in the queue or i straight-up reblog it. as a result there’s a pretty high amount of content just constantly on this blog. my current queue is at 36 posts a day but by god do i do more than that anyway. in addition my likes are from my main, as are my follows and replies, so it can be really hard to tell if i’m around sometimes, lol.
please don’t send me an ask advertising your thing unless i’m directly involved in it in some way (IE it’s based on one of my concepts or fan stuff from one of my things). it just makes me sorta uncomfortable and then i delete it because i don’t know whether or not to post it especially given that i don’t post that stuff from everyone, haha, so i end up posting none of it. similarly, don’t send me things asking for me to reblog your thing, i go through the tag and reblog low-note stuff a lot but the moment i’m asked to i get really uncomfortable. the one exception to this is if you know me outside of tumblr and we’re buddies in which case i don’t care.
uhhhh... beyond that, if any really common faq question comes up, i’ll try to put it here!
as always, thanks for enjoying my silly little brainspace!
#figured it was time to remake this#i still don't know what goes in a pinned post but hopefully. this is what goes there? yeah.

[fanfic] The Pain of Healing: Chapter 3 [end]
Each of the Kaiser's slaves stood as straight as their bodies would allow, staring at where the Chosen were most likely to appear at. DarkLizamon, two Dark Tyrannomon, and four Evilmon, all ready to unleash their attacks at the Kaiser's lightest words. He waited, a twisted little smirk on his lips, as the Chosen and their partners emerged from the thickest of the woods, watching all around them nervously.
He didn't wait very long to greet them. "Chosen." He almost spat the word out. As if these people deserved to be Chosen. Only he deserved that honor - Daisuke remained to be seen, given his status as the Kaiser's soulmate.
"Where's Daisuke?" The blond demanded. "You had to have done something to him!"
"I did?" Kaiser did his best to look offended. He was actually pretty good at that, since most people's existence offended him. He'd told Daisuke to stay out of sight until he was told otherwise. "Why would I do something to him?"
"Because he's not the sort of person who would just run away," the purple-haired girl declared. "So you did something to him and Ichijouji Ken!"
Kaiser's lips twitched a fraction. "I can say with perfect honesty that I've done absolutely nothing to Ichijouji Ken. Nor did I take Motomiya Daisuke anywhere without his permission." Of course, that greatly depended on what one thought of as "permission".
The other girl shook her head. "We don't believe you."
"You don't have to." Kaiser raised one hand slowly, savoring the drama of the moment. He did so hope that Daisuke was paying attention. This was all for him in the end, severing his ties to these idiots and reforging them where they belonged. He was Kaiser's soulmate. He belonged to no one else.
He snapped his fingers, and his forces surged forward, flames and claws ready to strike his enemies down. He wasn't at all surprised to see the Chosen Armor Evolving their partners and getting into the battle. That didn't make much of a difference to him. He could always put Rings on his slaves again if he had to. It might even make an interesting date with Daisuke.
His eyes flicked briefly over to where he knew his soulmate waited out of sight. Daisuke stared at the other Chosen, tension written large in every line of his body. Kaiser caught his eye and smiled a trifle, not enough for the Chosen to notice, but Daisuke would see it. Once this was taken care of, they could return to the fortress and rest for the evening.
"What did you do to Daisuke?" The blond surged forward through the array of enemies, hands gripping on his partner's mane, glaring at Kaiser with furious eyes of blue. "Where is he? Where's Ichijouji Ken?"
"Why do you think that I know anything about that?" Kaiser asked, still not displaying a hint of worry. He knew the plans that he'd made.
Takaishi snarled softly, staring down at him. Then his eyes widened and he swallowed briefly, rage melting away to shock. Kaiser smiled. Daisuke had looked much like that on learning that his soulmate was the Kaiser. Only that had been far, far sweeter than this.
"Takeru?" The brunette girl flew closer on Nefertimon. "What's wrong?"
"Don't you think if he really hadn't done anything to them, then he'd be a lot angrier?" Takaishi asked, not taking his eyes off of Kaiser. "This is a guy who loses his temper at the drop of a hat!"
Kaiser sniffed; that wasn't even close to being true. But he really didn't want to stretch this out forever. He had plans for dinner.
"What do you think you're saying?" Kaiser asked, affecting an offended tone. The girl glanced at him, then at Takaishi.
"If he's not really upset about us thinking he did something, then he did do it," Takaishi growled out each and every word.
"Really?" Kaiser sniffed. "That's your logic? Because I'm not angry, I must have done something? You're jumping to serious conclusions." He tried very hard not to laugh, no matter how difficult it was. "Pray, tell me what it is that I could have done to them, or why?"
The youngest boy stared at Kaiser in his own turn before he offered a suggestion. "Daisuke and Ichijouji-kun are soulmates. You could kidnap Ichijouji-kun and use him to blackmail Daisuke."
"Would I do that?" Kaiser couldn't quite hold back his smirk this time. "I can assure you that I have brought no harm at all to either of them." Daisuke had best keep his mouth shut on that, too. Kaiser didn't think he'd hurt him. He could safely miss a meal or two, and Kaiser had fed him as soon as he'd behaved himself. That was nothing more than discipline.
"Yes." Armadimon's partner declared without a breath of hesitation. "You've never liked Daisuke. You'd do anything so he wouldn't b able to fight you. What would be a better way?"
Having him be my soulmate. Kaiser chuckled. "Oh, if that's what I wanted, I could ensure that he not fight me in any number of ways. Your Digimon are no more immune to my Evil Rings than any other Digimon - and what would be the result on one of you if I put a Ring on them?" He regarded each of them in turn. So far none really seemed that appealing to make the test on, and it was an interesting test indeed. Though he wasn't going to try it on V-mon. Daisuke was his soulmate and didn't deserve that.
None of the Chosen looked very happy by now. They'd managed to defeat the Digimon he'd brought along - the ones he'd allowed out for now - and now moved in closer. Kaiser smiled a long and slow smile.
"I suppose I could tell you where Motomiya is. That, I do know." He waited the proper amount of tense-ridden moments before nodding slightly. Out from behind him there rumbled a large, powerful Triceramon. It had taken Kaiser ages to find this one, and now it strode forward with Daisuke perched on the back. The noises the Chosen made were fascinating - especially when they noticed that Daisuke wore no bonds at all. He wasn't staying there by being forced.
At least not by ties they could see. Kaiser knew very well that Daisuke wouldn't have stayed that quiet and obedient without V-mon being firmly locked up. But the Chosen didn't need to know that.
"Daisuke! Get down from there!" Takaishi snapped. "What are you doing there?"
He didn't answer. Kaiser had made it abundantly clear that he wasn't to speak to anyone without Kaiser's permission. Triceramon came to a stop next to his master, and Daisuke slipped down to stand next to him, not even looking at the Chosen. Kaiser made a note to reward him for that.
Once Daisuke stood beside him, Kaiser wrapped the fingers of one hand around Daisuke's, then turned the other's head so their eyes met. He allowed Daisuke, and only him, to see the amusement and pleasure in his eyes, then glanced at the Chosen.
"I have no need to kidnap Ichijouji Ken," he declared. "But Motomiya Daisuke belongs to me, now and forever. And there's nothing that any of you can do about it."
He didn't possess the power to read minds - he doubted such a power even existed - but he could feel their horrified looks on him, especially as he leaned forward to lightly lay a kiss on Daisuke's lips. He'd never kissed anyone before and he'd not quite thought to do it the first time in front of an audience, but he did rather enjoy this. Daisuke's lips were warm and soft and sweet and after a startled moment, he began to return the kiss. Kaiser groaned a bit and would have continued, if there hadn't been a noise of some kind coming from the Chosen.
From Takaishi in particular, who stared at them as if Kaiser were the personal embodiment of his own worst nightmares. Then, slowly, Kaiser decided to take the last step, the one that would prove they had no more claim to Daisuke, now or ever again.
He'd already decided on how to do that. He nodded slightly at Daisuke, who nodded back, still remaining quiet until he'd been granted permission to speak before them. Then Kaiser raised a sharp knife, and peeled off one glove. Daisuke did the same thing, holding his hand out. With one quick movement he slashed first Daisuke's hand, then his own.
Four distinct yelps - probably more, but definitely four. Kaiser hated the pain, but the next part made it all worth it. He wrapped his wounded hand around Daisuke's, and the warmth from their touch swept through him. The pain eased off in a few moments, and he could feel the wound slowly knitting back together. When he finally pulled his hand back and glanced at it, the wound didn't exist any more. The same held true for Daisuke - the sign that bound them as soulmates, as Heal-Touches.
He caught Daisuke's attention again and nodded slightly. Daisuke drew in a breath and turned to face the Chosen, his hand raised and turned so they could see how it had healed cleanly.
"That's not possible," Yagami murmured, her hand searching for and grabbing onto the other girl's. Kaiser recalled that they were soulmates as well. "This is - Daisuke's soulmate is Ichijouji Ken - we saw that - "
"I think they're surprised," Daisuke said at last. Kaiser chuckled softly.
"I think you're right. But they're also correct." With a deep breath, Kaiser reached up and removed his visor, letting them see his entire face for the first time. Takaishi said something - was that French? - that Kaiser didn't entirely catch. Not that it mattered. What mattered right now was telling them who he was.
The smallest boy shook his head. "You - you're the Kaiser?"
"I am." Kaiser agreed. "And Motomiya Daisuke is my soulmate, as I am his." He kept Daisuke close to him, pleased that the other didn't even look at the Chosen. He had his suspicions on why he did that and they had nothing whatsoever to do with Daisuke suddenly being eternally devoted and loyal to him. That would come later. But it would come indeed.
"Daisuke?" The girl's voice wavered as she took a step forward. This one was Yagami, he recalled. Not that her name mattered a lot, bu it might be interesting to know. "Are you all right?"
Kaiser nodded ever so faintly, knowing that Daisuke would see and understand the gesture. Daisuke drew in a quick, steadying breath and turned towards the Chosen. His smile shone out as bright as the sun. Kaiser could not help but feel a trifle displeased to see it turned towards them instead of him. He fought it down, though, with effort.
"Hey, guys. Nothing to worry about." He kept one arm around Kaiser as he spoke. Kaiser wasn't used to this much human contact, but it would help encourage them to understand that Daisuke wasn't going anywhere that wasn't with him. "I know I wasn't expecting this. But I'm fine."
"You're not fine." Takeru's lips pressed together hard, fingers clenching to the point that even at a distance, Kaiser could see how white the knuckles were. "That's the Kaiser." Absolute hatred laced every word that he spoke. Kaiser had never heard someone say his title like that and he wasn't certain that he liked it.
"Yeah, it's Ichijouji Ken. He's my soulmate." Daisuke regarded Takeru, and Kaiser saw hints of worry in his eyes. He would have to ask about that at a later time. "It isn't something you need to get worked up about."
Takaishi's Pegasumon bumped his head against him, murmuring something that Kaiser couldn't hear, and Takaishi breathed in deeply, a little of the tension fading away from him. At the same time, the Triceramon beside them began to shift and paw at the ground a little, snorting faintly. Kaiser's eyes narrowed.
"Calm down," he ordered, grateful that they were close enough he could do so without the Chosen hearing him. The last thing that he needed was for them to think he didn't have perfect control over his slaves.
But Triceramon didn't listen. It twitched and shifted harder, and Daisuke threw a worried look at him.
"What's wrong with him?" His soulmate wanted to know. Kaiser started to answer, but before a word could escape his lips, Triceramon roared something that might have been a challenge and might have been simply nothing more than rage incarnate. The creature backed up several paces, ignoring all of Kaiser's attempts to bring it to heel, either with the Ring, his Digivice, or his whip. It drew its head back and from deep within the mouth came a blast of pure fire, aimed at Kaiser himself.
Time seemed to slow down around them all. Kaiser only vaguely recalled having told Wormmon to stay in the fortress. He wouldn't be needed for this; nothing could possibly go wrong for him. He wasn't even certain of why Wormmon crossed his thoughts as he saw the fireball streaming towards him. It would hit. Nothing could stop it. He was done for.
Something crashed into him. No, not something - someone. Daisuke knocked him down and Kaiser could see him standing in between him and the Triceramon, fists clenched, glaring at the Digimon with a gaze fierce enough to melt metal. Kaiser wanted to tell him to get back, that a human couldn't stand against a Digimon of that strength, not without a partner - and V-mon wasn't there either. From the way Daisuke stood, Kaiser had a suspicion that he hadn't gotten out of this unscathed.
I don't want him to be hurt. The thought seared across his mind in a heartbeat and he knew exactly how true it was. He waned no real harm to come to Daisuke. He wasn't completely certain of why and now wasn't the time to figure it out.
"Guys! What are you waiting for?" Daisuke snapped, not taking his eyes off Triceramon. "Break the Ring! That should calm Triceramon down!"
Triceramon's horns began to glow a deep shining red, each circle on the horns as bright as the sun. Daisuke took a step back - still keeping himself between Kaiser and Triceramon, shoulders tense, arms spread in a defensive gesture. Kaiser shook his head to clear it, starting to get back on his feet. He was the Digimon Kaiser. He didn't require saving or defense or anything! There wasn't a single Digimon who wouldn't obey him!
But when he grasped for his Digivice, it wasn't there. He spied it a short distance from where he'd fallen, alongside of his whip. In the same moment, he could hear Triceramon's grumbling growl of a voice, preparing to unleash a powerful attack.
"Golden Noose!" The voice came from above, and with a quick jerk of his head, he spied Pegasumon and Nefertimon above him, circling around one another, performing that joint attack of theirs, wrapping the lasso around Triceramon, hauling the creature backwards. Feet pawed at the air as the two struggled, then from underneath there came Digmon, drill slicing into the Ring and shattering it.
Triceramon paused at once. His eyes, which had retained their scarlet glow the whole time, faded back into sense. The creature stared at Kaiser, then to the Chosen, all of whom remained nervously on guard. Kaiser snorted, snatching up his Digivice and whip, thinking of who he could call to get him and Daisuke out of here.
"Are you certain you don't want me to incinerate him?" Triceramon's voice was deep and rich; if Kaiser had ever thought about what one would sound like speaking, that was it. "It's what he deserves."
"No." Daisuke shook his head. Now that Kaiser could get a better look, he saw a nasty burn across one side of Daisuke - the side that hadn't knocked him down. His own side that had plowed across the ground ached and his uniform would have to be cleaned, if not actually replaced. But the damage to Daisuke worried him more. It wouldn't be anything that he couldn't fix, but it wasn't right! Daisuke was burned because of him.
"Daisuke's right," Yagami agreed, slipping off of Nefertimon. "No one deserves that."
"I'm not so sure," Takaishi muttered before he glared at Kaiser again, eyes as cold as two chips of ice. "Why don't you get out of here?"
Kaiser sniffed, but he knew when the time to leave had come. He wanted to take a better look at Daisuke's wounds anyway. Just because he wasn't reacting that much didn't mean they didn't hurt. A quick snap of his whip summoned an AirDramon, who ghosted down and waited for them to climb aboard.
"Don't expect to see Daisuke any time soon," he growled, folding his cape around his soulmate. "We are getting to know one another." He could feel Daisuke drawing breath to say something and hissed softly, "No. Keep quiet."
The AirDramon rose into the air and hurried on the way back to the fortress. Kaiser didn't look at the Chosen at all. His thoughts were divided - what had happened to Triceramon? How had it managed to attack him? That shouldn't have happened at all.
But what he worried about more was Daisuke. How bad were those injuries? Energy had to come from somewhere, so what would it cost him to heal Daisuke? He'd gladly pay it; no one harmed what was his except him, and Daisuke was most definitely his. He would have to work that out once they got home and he could see the details. He didn't think it was as bad as it could have been if the fireball had actually hit Daisuke head on - that could have seared him to the bone.
Kaiser told himself firmly that he didn't shudder at that though. Not in the slightest.
"Why did you do that?" He asked as the fortress came into view. "You could have let it hit me."
Daisuke glared up at him. "You know, for a genius, you can be pretty stupid. You're my soulmate. Why would I let you get roasted when I can stop it?"
That made no sense to Kaiser. Of course they were soulmates. He was quite certain on why he was angry about Daisuke's wounds. But why had Daisuke done that at all? That he couldn't understand. He shook his head. "You don't even like me." He wasn't going to let Daisuke get away without a solid answer.
"What's that got to do with anything? You're not just my soulmate."
Kaiser started to relax. Oh, he'd heard this before. Valued for his looks, for his brains, because he was the unyielding master of the Digital World - he'd heard it all before. He knew this ground very well indeed.
"You're a person. You shouldn't get roasted like that. How are you going to do better if you're dead?"
Kaiser might well have stumbled or even fell if he hadn't had such perfect control of his body. He'd never heard anything like that, and he wondered what sort of nonsense filled Daisuke's head. He shook his own head quietly.
"You expect me to do better?" He'd certainly never thought to hear those words coming from anyone, let alone Daisuke.
"You're going to be better." Daisuke tilted his head up to stare into Kaiser's eyes. "And I'm going to help you."
Kaiser could only shake his head. Clearly Daisuke was more injured than he looked. Had he hit his head? But he would soon get all of that sorted out. At least he'd accomplished one thing - the Chosen were aware of who he was and that Daisuke now belonged to him. There wasn't any way they'd try to get him back now that Daisuke had openly saved his life.
It was time for a new beginning, with the one fate designed just for him.
The End
Notes: Maybe I’ll do the next story for DaiKen Week 2022. We shall see. Though I am tempted to work on something with Piemon and Takeru. That is why Takeru is so skittish.

Hazbin/Helluva are hated for the exact same reason they’re loved:
Before I begin I need to repeat something and that’s that you please, kindly, DO NOT BOTHER ANYONE WORKING ON THE SHOW WITH THIS POST. I don’t care if you’re a fan looking for their opinion or a “critic” looking for their response. THESE PEOPLE ARE WORKING HARD, THIS IS NOT A CALL OUT POST IT’S JUST FAN DRIVEL LEAVE PEOPLE ALONE OKAY?!?!?
okey
Here are the facts of the matter:
Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss are independently produced cartoons made by a bunch of people juuuuust breaking in on the animation market, and/or internet famous artists having fun with the world they’re producing. The creator, like her style or not, is inspired and VERY passionate about what she likes and what she wants. Everyone working on the show is really into it and their work. It’s such a self-made fandom it was technically a fandom first and a product second. Fans feel like they (and technically do) have a say in how the show should be run and what the characters should be.
It is popular enough to attract attention online but not overblown by the mainstream media.
On the positive side all those things mean:
It’s crew is tight-nit and very passionate + stick up for each other and their projects. It’s basically a giant colab. Whether they were preexisting fans/friends of Viv, the people working on it got to work on something they liked and with people they liked.
The animation community is super pumped and excited for them be they fans of the animators or just people who like cartoons and monsters and stuff. They’re positively skeptical and in on the hype cause they want to see more fluid adult animation and more indie projects take off (also 2D)!
It’s fandom LOVES the characters, concept, and story. They are more invested in what the characters could be rather than what they actually are, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing; to love something based on the concepts presented and use it to make AUs, hypotheticals and what not. Cringe all you want at the Onceler fandom (you can) but it is impressive to make all that material from so little!
They’re both edgy and insensitive based on their subject matter alone. And yet, the creators and fans DO intend for the show to be a net-positive: there IS supposed to a be representational aspect to it’s design and it’s audience. Brandon Rogers, the modern John Waters, is a pure shock-humor artist; an example of the sincere but not TOO serious risque nature these shows should have, and BOTH attract a pretty happy and excitable LGBTQ fanbase who hate bigotry.
The creators directly talking with fans means there’s again a sense of togetherness to the whole production. That the creators tell people to ship what they want BUT NOT TO BULLY is really cool + important.
As an aside, they can only say so much and Viv is at this point not 100% of Hazbin or Helluva’s creation. It’s other people speaking for or with it now. Neither pilot is a singular idea and musing of one person anymore, they are stand alone products and they are not immune from critique or favoritism.
Buuuuuuut, there’s a flipside to these things as well:
Beyond NDAs (as an aside, a lot of productions have these I don’t think it’s amoral that Viv had this) the crew is tight. When they hear how a site that they’ve heard through the grabevine hosted the guy who sent Viv rape porn*, even if the critique is from a user who hates that guy, THEY AREN’T GONNA HEAR THEM OUT. And they shouldn’t. They are tired and don’t want to be involved, at best (or want to move on from past drama) and biased towards Viv, at worst. They stick out for each other in the business and also who are you gonna stan if you were in their shoes? A person you don’t know on a forum you’ve seen post creepy shit OR your friend who paid you, promos you, talks to you and you like to work with?
Ask yourself honestly what you would do if someone said:
“hey I’m from [4chan/Kiwi, ED, Tapatalk, Reddit, ect]. I’m sorry for what happened but just so you know-”
I so get the crew just straight up blocking on sight. I don’t CONDONE it, but in a postGamerGate world I understand it.
AND when it comes to accusations made against the VAs, a producer, or one of the artists, and ESPECIALLY the creator - people are gonna just handwave it away convinced, it’s just whining or has alterier motives + again, friends stick together and choose sides...like Brock Baker’s :B
It’s popular so it’s gonna get love and hate. I know critics are not gonna like to hear the later, but it is true. It feels cathartic to dunk on a property when fans are crazy and you feel it’s overrated/bad. People feel good dunking on this mishandled, problematic clusterfugg cause they know not as many people are watching and unironically liking, say, Alfred Alfer ----- (please don’t look that or Emily Youcis up. Here’s the tvtropes page. Do not look beyond this point PLEASE)
Likewise, the clout surrounding the show is biased and detracted form being too mean as well. Everyone can tell there’s a kind of toxic mess under the covers but no one wants to deep dive or prod the details of something people are working on and liking so much, especially not when the loudest detractors are asshats like P.K. Russel.
A lot of merch has been sold and produced WELL BEFORE the rest of the shows or the finalized series/designs have been laid out. If nothing comes of either show it will be bad having all this merch hyping something that doesn’t exist. If it does but is so radically different than the vision in Viv’s and fan’s heads (these are both PILOTS, I’ll remind you) it’s gonna disappoint. I just know it.
People were writing Hazbin fanfics and AUs before the pilot was dropped and have made sequels to both before we have even a clear picture of what the ending is gonna be. People are in love and writing for a franchise they don’t know. They know the idea of it and the version of it in their head, but they don’t really know it.
The fandom can not take criticism. This is bad. Everyone is a critic and inside every critic is a nerdooo ~ ((critics do have fandoms and everyone will like something problematic for reasons)) Fans want to criticize but they’re scared of being ostracized from the fandom and kicked off of forums/servers, which has happened to two underage fans already. **
The fandom feels entitled to their ideas and to the creators’ attention. If it were any other fandom it is sooper cool that creators allow people to ship as they please, but not one that’s currently still in development and whose finalized characters haven’t been figured out. The babies have been sent into the battle field at only a few months old alongside veteran ship/canon/entitled cartoon fandoms like Steven Universe and Rick and Morty. It’s like the scene from mother! where the crowd dismembers and eats the baby.
Viv and has a serious influence on these people so even when her and a bunch of fans/artists are just gabbing about stupid memes on twitter, this invites a slew of onlookers to attack these people***. Despite the influence you can have or say to stop this behavior, it’s waaaay harder to put a stop to it than just saying “hey guys be nice” (Anyone else remember the inner-drama of Brony fandom? Like chuds would even take the word of the AskMolestiaMod to heart when their one goal was to take down the dreaded Essjaydoublewes that threatened their rape jokes).
Fans also have no boundaries. Sea also; Lincar Rox.
Being a netpositive doesn’t mean everything you say or do is devoid of critique. If you make vulgar/shocking adult content it will have fans and it will have detractors regardless of the positive intent. As I’ve said earlier, the problem with Viv’s works isn’t really the content but the context and the presentation. You can say Angel Dust is an inspiring character all you want. To some people that’s absolutely true but that does NOT absolve the fact that the it’s a cis woman writing and glamorizing an abused crossdressing gay man. People are gonna be offended and the creator needs tougher skin about this be it satire, parody, or drama.
*back when they were fixated on Zoophobia, there was a guy on Bad Webcomics Wiki/Tapatalk for the comic who posted art of Viv’s decapitated head getting raped by Angel Dust as a “joke”. Oh! and he also took the complaints the wiki had and made Viv and ED page. The rest of the forum was not happy but yeah that happened. The forum itself is the same as any reddit thread and NOT a hate site, but yeah um Viv has every right to quit after that, sorry.
The evidence is linked here in this google doc, which is why I linked it. (tbh I sympathize with the author but I don’t think it’s their place to say when Viv should have let the world known about the harassment porn )
**the underage fans who were bullied/blocked/demonized by creators are frootrollup1, for doing redesigned fan art, and StarVader from the Tapatalk/BWW forums, who was targeted and blamed by fans for Lincar’s shit. I’m not linking them for fear of their safety.
***The meme and twitter thread that went off the rails is one you’ll have to scroll down a bit through @gamergirluprising‘s post to see.
Okay that’s all.

Eddtober Masterpost: About, Rules, Boundries and Prompt Lists.
I hadn’t done anything about it until now due to no response - however the wonderful @ldhenzel suggested that I do it this way for mobile users.
About Eddtober
Eddtober is a list of prompts made in an effort to encourage the Eddsworld Fandom to spread their wings of creativity beyond the norms that they are used to, during the month of October.
It is all without harming others or causing drama, a neutral ground for all fans of Eddsworld to come and have fun, no matter what side of a discourse they’re in.
It hopes to promote inspiration beyond the usual angsty and over-dramatised content, to revive a spirit in Eddsworld that hasn’t been seen in many years, and to stretch the invitation to all who can create.
Eddtober calls not only the artists who have a talent for drawing, painting and so forth, but also: the authors (fanfics, journalists, essayists, diarists, poets, ramblers), the cosplayers, the video-makers (animators, video essays, memers, youtubers) and all those who want to be inspired with unconventional creativity.
Eddtober’s motto for the fandom it came from is this: To come forth, be inspired and break from the old and the mold!
With that out the way, buckle up. This post is gonna be a long one under the cut.
RULES
Base Rules need to be set so everyone can participate in Eddtober safely and in a fun way. Please read them carefully!
Always tag it with #eddtober. Gore and related NSFW is allowed in the challenge, but please tag it as #Eddtober gore, etc. Also, no shortenings or reimaginings of those tags, so the minors on this site don’t find it on accident. Though many of us may be over 18, please keep these things in mind.
Be Sensitive and Respectful to Others. I know many of us here in this fandom can take easy offence to certain types of art, so please consider and think on your creative piece before you post.
Credit Where Due. This should be blatantly obvious right now, but please, please don’t steal other’s creative fanwork or post it without credit. Always have permission from the creator to post something of their’s, and always have their username when you post it, not just ‘credit to the artist’. If you do not follow this, actions will be taken for your consequences.
Keep yourself chill. You can do one prompt for Eddtober, some of the prompts or all of them - up to you! It’s understandable if life gets in the way. The goal of Eddtober is not to do every prompt, but to be inspired to create fan-content in a way you usually wouldn’t have.
Spread the word. This is less of a rule and more of a personal request from Admin Panda, but since she doesn’t have many social media accounts you’d expect, spreading word of Eddtober would mean a LOT, so they can join in the fun too!
Sharing is caring. Reblogging and sharing from your fellow creators doing Eddtober would be great to give them a motivation and confidence boost!
Go Beyond the Boundries of Your Imagination. The whole purpose of Eddtober is to promote new, fresh things to come up in the Eddsworld fandom and break a cycle of the same old that’s been there for a while. Take a leap, spread your wings, do your best, and go have fun.
BOUNDRIES
Most of this list will be related to Rule Two of Eddtober:
Be Sensitive and Respectful to Others.
Quote:
‘I know many of us here in this fandom can take easy offence to certain types of art, so please consider and think on your creative piece before you post.‘
Whilst Eddtober is a fun, neutral place to spread our creative wings, there are boundries that need to be taken in order to keep everyone safe. Which means certain parts that are usually seen as ‘common’ within the Eddsworld Fandom will not be acceptable in the challenge.
Edd Gould’s death. Admin Panda wishes to make it clear that creative pieces that draws clear lines to Edd’s passing IS NOT okay. This includes Edd in hospital for cancer, Angel Edd or any AU that depicts him as a divine being of any sort (including Blessworld) unless Tom, Matt and/or Tord are also similar divine beings in the AU. Here at Eddtober, Edd's life is something to be celebrated, not his death. While Admin Panda isn’t 100% offended by this, many others are and it should be more recognised as such.
Sinsworld. Believe it or not, the sinsworld tag was specifically made back in the day to keep the porn out of the main. But due to a certain in-fandom event, this intended action has been long-lost. Because of all of these events, any sinsworld (porn, lewds and related NSFW) that’s Sinspired by the Eddtober prompts WILL NOT be accepted into the event by any means. This is because many in this fandom are minors/underage and more who are 18+ are repulsed to porn and such (Admin Panda is part of the latter group). So please, it is fine to be sexually inspired by the prompts, PLEASE keep your Sinsworld content away from the Eddtober tag - don’t put both tags into that post, essentially.
Abusive/Self-Harm Creative Content. No. Just. No. Death or pain like this isn’t allowed to be depicted in the challenge and should never be romanticised or supported. Eddtober aims to be a safe and uplifting space for all creative people, no matter what their space is at the moment.
More sensitivities and boundries will be added onto this list as Admin Panda recieves questions and requests for this area through the askbox here.
PROMPT LIST
Quick reminder: when this list says ‘create something for’, it’s not just referring to fanart - it refers to any medium, digital, traditional or unconventional, that can be used. The challenge here is to be creative as possible, not to stay conventional.
The List features Admin Panda’s Commentary. Some useless, some useful.
Create something for Edd. (Not his real-life counterpart, but the character. That needed some clearing up based on 2017’s results.)
Create something for Tom.
Create something for Matt
Create something for any pre-legacy season episode, except WTFuture. (You can do WTFuture if you want, but seeing that much of this fandom is currently made of people who came in after The End… It’d be worth having a crack at pre-legacy episodes.)
Create something for the crew’s symbols.
Create something for Superhero Alter Egos! (It doesn’t have to stop at PowerEdd’s canon either! Go nuts! Give Edd and his friends new superhero alibis and outfits!)
Create something for Supervillain Alter Egos! (Reminder that it doesn’t have to stop at the ‘Green/Blue/Purple/Red Leader scenario! Again, go nuts! Get wacky if you must!)
Create something for Minor characters of the show. (Except the Neighbours - they already have their own prompt.)
Create something for descendants of the main four guys. (Sure, you can make it about the love children of your favourite ships, but the point of this prompt specifically is to not be ship-related. See if you can come up with descendant characters from the bloodlines of the main four.)
Create something for Tord. (He’s late in this list for a reason. Trust me.)
Create something for the neighbours of 29 Dirdum Lane. Are Kim and Katya still there, or are there newbies in the street?
Create something for the neighbours of 25 Dirdum Lane.
Create something for unlucky things happening to the guys, or one of them. Feel free to go as dark or as humourous as you like!
Create something for genderbends of the guys, maybe as if the Ellsworld we know never existed. Or you can stick to canon, up to you.
This prompt is a wild card. Do with it as you wish. (In 2017 everyone was told to quote: ‘go whole hog on this’. The next thing we all knew, everybody literally drew pigs with the guys. That wasn’t supposed to be literally taken, but by god it was hilarious.)
Create something for your crew. Whether you’re the main character with your friends or have OCs taking that place or a mix of both is up to you.
Create something for an AU of Eddsworld. You can make one up on the spot, or even fan content for an AU that already exists is cool too. (As of rule number two of Eddtober, the Blessworld AU will not be accepted for this prompt. I know it is a popular AU, but if you have any issues with this, please contact me in the blog asks myself.)
Create something for Eddsworld as a video game. Whether it’s concepts and covers for your own ideas or fanart for games in the making such as Eddsworld Armageddon, up to you.
Create something for Todd, or whoever the ‘Tord’ figure is of 25 Dirdum Lane.
Create something for a Saloonatics-WTFuture Crossover. (What? Shenanigans could be made here, guys. Just take it!)
Create something for the future selves of the guys. Or if you want to take it up a notch, make your own versions of them! Have them all be hobos (#HoBrosforlife), or have cola not be banned in the future… up to you!
The End who? Create and elaborate on how you would finish off the Eddsworld Legacy season. (For the purposes of this prompt, I can accept an angsty end for this, but I personally do not recommend it. The Eddsworld fandom has had enough unnecessary angst already.)
Create something for Zanta. (I guess you could call him a Nightmare Before Christmas, then.)
Create something for an Eddsworld movie. Whether it’s stuff for the Eddsworld Fan Movie or your own ideas, up to you!
Create something for the deal with Tom’s eyes. If you want to call them that.
Pick a song, any song, and put that on repeat. Use it as inspiration to create something in relation to Eddsworld.
Create something for Edd Gould himself. Not his character in Eddsworld, the real-life person.
An obligatory prompt without Eddtober in the beginning: create something for Edd’s birthday. (This was made into a prompt and will permanently remain as one as Edd’s birthday shouldn’t be taken away from today.)
Create something for someone/multiple someones in the fandom who inspire you - even the small artists and writers and such who are just starting out!
Are you afraid of the dark? Are you getting goosebumps? Create scary/monstrous/terrifying things happening to the guys. Interpretation and how far you go with it is up to you.
Happy Halloween! Create something about the guys on this special spooky day. Interpretation is up to you.
If you have any questions, concerns or queries as to all of this, don’t be hesitant to come shoot an ask through this blog. Have fun and a safe Eddtober!

okay but the paladins totally have a fandom through the universe complete with shipping and rps fics. it's not uncommon for allura to be called girl keith probably.
Well I mean, she WAS “Keith” during the Voltron Show so I’m not TERRIFICALLY surprised she ends up with that nickname. In fact, there’s a lot of post-Voltron Show confusion when Keith joins the team again (”Wait, I thought Keith was the leg? Why’s the red paladin in the Black lion? Why is Shiro’s hair white?”) but the fans do eventually get it all sorted out who is who.
Lance would 100% be the one looking up all the fanfics/fanart of them. The more ridiculous it is, the better. He would leave kudos on every single crack fic in existence. He finds one where they’re all anthropomorphized donuts for some reason and it’s his absolute favorite thing. (Pidge points out that, given the existence of alternate universes, there probably is a universe where they’re all donuts. Hunk takes offense that someone wrote him as a lemon cream-filled donut; he would most definitely be strawberry jelly, thank you very much.)
Pidge would stalk social media and like random posts like “I bet Keith likes stuffed animals” and “Is Shiro’s hair white everywhere?”, just because she personally finds it amusing when people freak out and think her liking the post means it’s true. She runs algorithms that rank which of their ships have the most fanworks/are the most popular and updates everybody weekly on it. Lance gets offended whenever one of his ships isn’t number one and Keith always leaves the group chat for two days after she posts. Allura is just really confused about the whole thing, and gets even more confused as Pidge and Lance try to explain it to her.
Hunk would reblog all the fanart with smiley emojis and earnest, heartfelt feedback on how much he loves it and how talented the fandom is. Keith doesn’t really understand the point of it and for the most part ignores it entirely, but he does have a small list of fluffy coffee shop/flower shop AUs that he likes to read because it’s really nice to have stories where the most difficult decision his character makes is what latte art to do next.
Shiro is the only one who actually writes fic because he finds it really relaxing when he’s had a rough day. All the other paladins know his pseud and he throws in little inside jokes that only they will get. He has a pretty dedicated (if small) following, but the most common criticism he gets is that his fics aren’t “in character,” which he and the other paladins find hilarious. (“Shiro would never use his arm to mess with people!” said one comment, which had Pidge laughing so hard she couldn’t breathe, given that she had just set up a camera in the Galaxy Garrison lounge to catch people’s reactions to Shiro’s disembodied arm in the fridge.)
#Anonymous#M answers#Voltron: Legendary Defender#M writes not!fic#M writes Voltron#vld s7 spoilers#I am intensely amused thinking about how they would all react to fandom#also Lance loves fics that portray Shiro as a suave ladies' man#because they all know Shiro is actually a stuttering disaster gay who couldn't flirt his way out of a paper bag#he is the epitome of the 'just because I'm with Keith doesn't mean I know how I did it' meme

deemura replied to your post:
katchyalater: Fanfic Asks 1. If you’re an...
Answer it @flaignhan :)
Okay I now feel super big headed because I didn’t read it properly and thought it was one of those ones where people send you specific questions but it wasn’t and I am a dumb dumb. Still, have copied it below with answers...
Fanfic Asks
1. If you’re an author, how many WIPs do you currently have? (Be honest!)
There’s probably tons that are part finished, but in terms of things that I’m actively working on or at the very least intend to return to, it’s about three. I think.
2. What’s next on your ‘to-read’ list? (Fan fiction or otherwise)
There is a pile by my bed - The Grip of Film, The Place That Didn’t Exist, A Life Discarded, A Legacy of Spies, and The Kindness of Women. And many more besides.
3. Do you prefer canonverse or AUs?
I like things that slot neatly into canon. Things that feel like deleted scenes or fill the spaces between episodes/movies.
4. What fandom’s/ship’s fan fiction do you read the most?
I honestly don’t read very much these days. I think in my life I’ve mostly consumed Harry Potter in various ships.
5. What’s a crackship you love?
I don’t really go in for the term crackship. Not offended by it but I think in the right setting and scenario things can work. Maybe it’s an old school idea where anything labeled crack was utterly insane and broke the fourth wall every three seconds.
6. What’s the last thing you read that made you laugh?
The Grip of Film.
7. What’s the last thing you read that made you cry?
First time reading Deathly Hallows so...2007?
8. Bed sharing or roommates AU?
Bed sharing. Or involuntary roommates.
9. Fake dating or arranged marriage?
Fake dating.
10. Mutual pining or enemies to friends to lovers?
Enemies to aaaaagh.
11. Kid fic or childhood friends?
Childhood friends.
12. Friends with benefits or secret dating?
Depends on the characters.
13. Exes or established relationship?
Neither, unless they’re supporting characters.
14. (For authors) Post a line of dialogue from one of your WIPs without context.
He remembers this smell. It burns in his memory, sharp and painful, and he knows exactly where he is.
15. Post the last line you wrote without context.
She on the other hand, is nowhere to be seen.
16. Describe your WIP that currently has the highest word count.
The novella. Which is sitting at 40,660 words and needs about another 8,000-10,000 to finish it off. HP fic with elements of Spooks and Thick Of It, set in the Auror office during the first war. It’s been in the making for about five and a half years but I came back to it this year and it grew exponentially.
17. Describe a fic that is still in the ‘ideas’ stage.
I don’t have room for an ideas-y fic at the moment. I won’t even contemplate such a thing when I have the Christmas project and the novella hanging over me.
18. Do you have a fic reading/writing routine?
I write a lot on public transport. Google docs, always taking notes. *finger guns*
19. What’s your favorite character headcanon?
That Molly is listed as Sherlock’s next of kin because it was logical at the time, but also because he trusts her completely.
20. Do you have a favorite fanfic or author? If so, tag them/post a link and share the love!
I used to absolutely worship Out of Time and its follow up Shattered Moments by Rurouni Star on ff.net. I can barely remember it but I know I loved it so much that I printed it out. It was about 300 pages.

Question tag for AO3 writers~~
I found the original questions on AFF a while back, and I thought since I’ve been tagged in so many meme things lately, I’d also tag a bunch more people in this one XD Since the questions were designed for AFF, I’ve reworked some of them to fit for AO3 writers. I also removed two questions rather than trying to translate them to AO3 terms. So, I’ll fill out my answers first, and then put the blank questions again at the bottom for you to easily copy and paste!
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
'Her dust is very pretty' is the last part of a Dorothy Parker poem called Epitaph for a Darling Lady. Dorothy Parker is the only poet I’ve ever liked. I usually detest poetry and find it stupid and annoying. But I like most of hers. I used this as my first tumblr URL too. It’s just kind of my name now. I’ve been using it since 2010.
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos)
Subs is Chemicals with 177, bookmarks is Neko at 116, hits is Chemicals at 18600, and kudos is Chemicals again with 694. Stats are weird.
3. What is your AO3 profile icon and why did you choose it?
It’s ahegao Kuroko lmaaaaooooo. I chose it cause I love slutty Kuroko.
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
Quite a few actually. Maybe too many to list even... I’d say High_Noon and Goldfasan are the ones I recognise or see the most?
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
I don’t actually read that much fanfiction? Which might be odd for someone who writes a lot of fanfiction. Idk I tend to find a few really good ones and then reread them for eternity and never look for anything new. Though tbh I haven’t read fanfiction for a number of months now. I’ve been too busy, or too stressed (and definitely too autistic).
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked? Subbed to 7 fics (most of which are really old and will never be updated, or are friends’ stories). I have 231 bookmarks. Apparently. I have no idea what they all are, because only 30 of them are my OTP, and I only started bookmarking last year, and again, I don’t read much. I think AO3 is lying to me. Likely, as it lists my subs as 67, but I counted them and there’s only 7 in there plus 2 author subs. Conspiracies.
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
I define AU as ‘completely unrelated to the main plot’ so, if the KnB characters were in fuedal Japan. I use UA (universe alteration) to define things such as if a KnB story followed the general main plot (basketball) but had changes to it, such as omegaverse (though I don’t consider ships UAs). With that said, tbh I don’t think I have one? I write a whole range of stuff. I don’t think I lean towards any particular AU or UA.
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
Total bookmarks: 1285 Total subs: 504
9. Is there something you'd like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
Honestly I don’t think I’m ashamed of anything by this point. I’m probably one of the most non-judgemental and open-minded people you’ll meet, so I kinda have no shame with that. Like, I won’t judge other people for having weird interests, and therefore don’t feel any shame for my own because I see no reason to have a problem with it. If people don’t like my writing they don’t have to read it. No one’s forcing them to.
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
I’m mostly okay at replying to comments, sometimes I won’t reply if I don’t know how to respond or I’m busy/tired. Unless I feel like there’s no reason to further reply to a comment, I’ll usually try to reply later (sometimes months....). I need to get better at putting description in instead of just rushing through something and shoving it at the internet saying “I’M SICK OF IT JUST TAKE IT HOW IT IS”. Ideally it would be nice to update more frequently and consistently but that’s something that will never change due to my mental and physical health sooo. Whatevs.
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
tbh I think it’s arguable if even the more popular ships I write are even that popular. The most popular ship I write is Akakuro I guess? I do write a bunch of rarer pairs (Mayumibu hghghghgh also Aoaka yes) occasionally though.
12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
87. Which I feel like is a lot considering I did about 50 of those in one year.
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
39 in Google Docs. Possibly. I’m half asleep and may have missed some. I have a crap tonne more in MS Word, but I don’t want to count them all. Oh, fyi, these are only for my current fandom. I have other stories in Docs and Word that are original or other fandoms.
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
Write everything down. Either in a document or just in the notes on my phone.
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
No, but I’d like to. It sounds interesting.
16. How did you discover AO3?
An uh, ex-something found it in 2013 and showed it to me. I liked it more than FF.net, which always gave me a headache with it’s shitty UI and layout, and Livejournal, which was either dead or didn’t exist for my fandoms back then. Does anyone still even use those 2 sites as their main story platform?
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?
Not at all. I might say I am possibly known or recognised, but I definitely do not think famous or popular at all. Far from it.
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
Does anyone? I’m not published yet lmao and neither am I a Korean idol so uhhh, no, my readers do not have a nickname or fandom.
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
I would say no. No one prompted me to start writing when I was little, I just did it cause I liked it. Even when I started writing seriously, and when I started writing fanfiction, it was all me. I guess there have been writers who have inspired me to get better though? Namely Mikssi and goseum-dochi.
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
I was once told that if you can't think of anything to write just put SOMETHING on the page. Be it a date or a title or an idea. Just get something on the page. I now start every story by dating when exactly I started it (yes even the exact time). It's less intimidating that way. Writing down my ideas also helps me plan.
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
I often have a general idea or at least ideas for future chapters. But mostly I just bullshit my way through it lmao. It often backfires.
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
The only negative comment I've gotten on a story that really upset me was once being called insensitive when referring to sexual abuse. It really offended me because. Um. You... do not know my past experiences. At all. And I'm not going to bring them up because of that. But wow. And it bothered me too that they called me insensitive when I was just writing from experience. Like ok. Sure. Cool. I mean I could see where they were coming from, but I’m going to take a guess and say they had never experienced what I was writing about. I’ve gotten a couple of other negative comments, but they didn’t upset or ‘get to me’ so much as just piss me off due to the stupidity of them.
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
Action.
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
Uhhh, I guess mostly right now I’m working on Nano, and one other story. I have unfinished and ongoing things, but they’re on the back burner right now.
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
To a really problematic degree.
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
Definitely not. Way too much pressure. Do not need.
27. Do you think you've improved as a writer since you first started?
My god, yes. From my early original (shite) stories of 2007-2009, to my really early (also shite) fandom fics in 2011-2012, to my explosion in the VIXX fandom (at least 80% shite), to now... My goodness. I’m actually in the half-hearted process of editing old AO3 fics to be easier on the eyes. Mostly that’s relatively minor changes. If I went back to AFF. Hoo. I’m highkey scared of looking at some of those again.
28. What is your favorite story that you've written?
I guess I’d say Chemicals. It’s a story I always wanted to do, and I’m happy with how it turned out. I also have to make mention to NMT, since that thing was my life for like 2 years, and writing it helped a lot. I also am quite fond of what I refer to as my ‘cat vampire story’ aka this. I also don’t mind my story Wanderlust. I think I put more effort into that one than I do with most things I write.
29. What is your least favorite story that you've written?
MMMMM I can think of it and I don’t want to acknowledge its existence at all. IT NEVER HAPPENED AND IT WAS A MISTAKE. Also NMT.
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
Probably not published yet but goddamn will I try (not very hard though)
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
For me it's writing dialogue. Chat room/text message based dialogue is especially fun.
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
Starting and ending the story (or, if it’s a chaptered story, ending the chapter). Also liking your own work. And not comparing yourself to others. And holding onto the hope that maybe one day you’ll actually be successful and you should keep going.
33. Why do you write?
idek. It’s fun? Satisfying? It arguably sometimes entertains people? Gives me something to do. Unleash all that creativity bopping around up there. idk. Do I need a reason?

Fanfiction and the Collapse of the Space-Time Continuum
You know, I feel really bad sometimes for people who are dead-set on this whole “destiny” type thing, because, you know, the whole world is out there for you to explore!! Who says you can’t do EVERYTHING! Why restrict yourself to one path?
I started thinking about this while looking at art for some of my favorite fandoms (it’s kind of unconventional, bear with me) because I noticed that a lot of creators/artists/writers/actors/etc. get really offended or creeped out by the idea of fans thinking of their characters in relationships that weren’t intended to go canon. It makes me wonder... why is that?
In the case of shipping real people, I don’t want to invalidate someone’s rights to their autonomy. Obviously that would be pretty mean. However, I do want to propose a few alternative mindsets that might help everyone involved in this scenario feel better about shipping in general.
So anyway, what I meant to say was that shipping/fanfic is usually the sign of a good fandom! It means that your fans are getting invested in your characters, who they are, and what they can do! It’s so cool to see what everyone can do with just one concept- how a group can refine an idea to be the best version of itself that it can be! Or the worst! And everything in between.
Alternate Universes of every kind are precious. I mean the real kind of AUs, which is everything outside of cannon, no matter how closely they match. These are great... because exploring characters in new situations is cool! Ideas are meant to be developed like this! I love reading about my favorite heroes out of their element. I love reading about the mundane background character becoming a full-fleshed person. I love seeing two characters who weren’t in love find it with each other! To state it plainly, I love seeing my favorite “actors” in roles they’ve never done!
It makes sense that people can get possessive over something that they’ve created, and want everyone to stick to the canon that they intended. But the truth is that that simply isn’t possible. Every single person who consumes a piece of media interprets it differently. That can even apply to real life! People who witnessed the exact same event might never recall a single detail the same way. That’s just how humans are. But this isn’t a bad thing, and it gets a lot easier to feel better about “misinterpretation” when you strip it to its basics. Your characters exist the way you want them to be. But only in your head! In everyone else’s eyes, your characters are who they need them to be, based on their backgrounds, beliefs, and interests. You made a hero for them and you. How is that not amazing?!
When I’m feeling really terrible, I always imagine my the members of my favorite band members around me voicing positive thoughts, and it really helps. I have absolutely no idea what they would actually say to me, because I do not know them personally. But what they gave to me is just as good. They gave me heroes with their faces, who can be there for me when I need comfort. And the perk about finding comfort in music is that I can literally have my heroes sing me to sleep with an epic guitar solo just by clicking a few buttons on Youtube.
So it makes me sad when I see them (my favorite people!!!) getting uncomfortable with how fans draw art of them or write about them, because to me, that’s just people displaying the hero that you made for them- the “character” that you play! You can be real and be their version of you at the same time. Most likely, from a fan’s standpoint, they were making that media because they love you and your work, not because they were trying to make you upset. There are some ways that fans can get toxic or way too into their version of events, but most fans are not like that!
I don’t know. I just feel like I would probably be honored if someone did that to my OCs. Or even me! Remember friends, you can be flattered by fanfic about yourself and NOT READ IT! Nothing is making you read that, my dude! But somebody will. And you might end up being that somebody’s hero.
But getting back to my original points, I wanted to mention that ultimately, shipping makes me really happy for one reason: It shows what could have been, what is, or what might be.
There’s a theory that’s been going around since I was little about time and space being like huge waves. They expand from nothing to nearly infinity, then collapse back into nothing to repeat the cycle. Our universe literally expands unfathomably every day, and to quote Bill Nye, “fucktuples” at rates that are unable to be recorded. If the theory of the collapse is true, then that means that sometime in the history of our universe, everything will reset to try again, back at the dawn of time. A rebirth. Time created where time had ceased to exist! It’s amazing, and I’m not afraid of it!
That means that we have no way of knowing how old our universe actually is because of the way that time collapses indefinitely. We could be the first time it’s done this, or the last, or the forty-third! We just don’t know! And in every rebirth that our universe goes through, our matter is arranged slightly differently. You could be living your life right now but a bit to the left. You could have had the keratin in your fingernails be on the tongue of a cat. Cats might not even exist in the alternate universes that we might have been/ might be in. It’s a truly amazing thought to me. Even if souls don’t exist, bodies do, and that means that everyone really does have more than one life to live. You might not experience it in the same way. But that will be good.
I hope that in all the reincarnations of the universe, my life gets to be lived again a thousand times in different ways.
I want to see what I can do outside of my element. I want to see all the different ways that I can be a fleshed-out character, and I want to fall in love with a thousand different people or a thousand different versions of the same one. Who knows? Who cares?!! I want to be in a role that I’ve never played before!
Well guess what? Fanfic helps people experience these things in a spectrum that they can comprehend, like not over the course of indeterminable millennia!
Atoms will all be recycled through every heat-death into something tangible, and the things that I love will all be recycled to be a part of something new. Imagine stardust that was once the first copy of your favorite book, or planets that used to be your favorite stuffed animal that you thought you lost forever. You will become a part of something that you love, and something you love will be a part of you.
And maybe if you cycle through for long enough, you can play the role of someone’s hero.
Isn’t that exciting?

1. tv show character you like the best, and the one you relate to the most? (can be the same character, no judgement!)
Um -- this is difficult to answer since the only TV show I’m watching regularly right now is Whose Line Is It Anyway? Oh, and MST3K, but that feels more like a weekly movie. XD I can safely say Colin Mochrie is my favorite performer on Whose Line? -- the man is a marvel, especially when paired with Ryan Stiles. As for relating. . .all those audience members and guest stars who have no idea what they’re getting into when asked to perform with the gang. XD I’d probably freeze up too if I had go up there!
2. is there a song you feel compelled to listen to on repeat whenever it comes on at the moment? if so, which one?
Not particularly, though this has happened a lot in the past. The closest so far is the boss theme for the first “Adam” boss fight in Nier: Automata (you know, the “this cannot continue” song).
3. night owl or early bird?
NIGHT OWL. I am very good at staying up later than I should and I hate waking up early.
4. what are you favourite types of fanfic to read? fluff, angst, 5+1, soulmate aus? go nuts!
It can depend on my mood -- I’ll gravitate more toward angst if I’m gloomy myself -- but I actually like more fluffy, slice-of-lifey, domestic stuff, honestly. Or fics where someone gets magic or super-powers and has to learn how to use them. And I’m kind of a sucker for hurt/comfort-style stuff -- I just love a character who’s been whumped getting to cuddle with a loved one. (Not obvious from my own fanfic at all, right?)
5. what’s your fave soundtrack (musical, tv show, movie, video game etc)?
Well, my three main fandoms -- BTTF, Corpse Bride, and the Alice games -- all have great music associated with them. I think I’m going to have to go with Alice: Madness Returns for favorite, though, as it has some of my absolute favorite music on it (”Card Castles In The Sky” is GORGEOUS). I’ve been listening to CB’s soundtrack as “going to sleep” music for a while now, though.
6. last item of clothing you bought for yourself? was it something you wanted or something you needed? or both?
Er -- do shoes count? I needed a good pair of “transitional” shoes since spring this year has consisted of a lot of days where you can wear some lighter pants and such, but it’s too cold for sandals. Took a while, but I finally found a pair that work. (Nautica brand -- the soles have ship rope patterns :D)
7. what do you do on nights when you can’t sleep?
Mostly lie there and make up little Valicey fanfics in my head. If I can’t sleep because of nightmares, though, I’ll turn on a light and read something. Weirdly enough, I tend to gravitate towards my Terminator 2 making-of/script book during these moments. I dunno why.
8. do you have a film or album that makes you feel warm and safe and like you’ve come home after a really long day? which one?
*thinks about this* I’m gonna have to go with Enchanted -- it’s my favorite Disney movie, and it still gives me the warm fuzzies when I watch it. :)
9. do you hate spoilers or lap them up?
Depends on how big the spoiler is, and if I’m going to be consuming the media in question. I can still enjoy a work after being spoiled, but I like to avoid the big plot twists in stuff I’m going to be looking at myself. (Although, honestly, even knowing those without context can make me look forward to something -- I’m spoiled to hell and back about some of the stuff in Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, and I still really want to watch it to see how all these pieces fit together.)
10. do you have something (a movie, book, fanfic, anything really) that makes you feel really inspired? does it motivate you to create, or clean, or just keep on living?
You’ve seen my problem with AUs -- I have TOO MUCH that inspires me. XD A little more seriously, the pairing this blog is named after is my favorite inspiration. If I’m having a sad or frustrating day, I can make myself feel a lot better by looking at old fanarts, or rereading favorite bits from old stories. And, again, look at the AU thing. It’s really nice, having an OTP (and, sometimes an OT4 or more) that makes me this happy.
11. favourite cryptid/monster/eldritch horror?
Am I allowed to say Mantorok from Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem? I love his design, I love that he can exist in multiple timelines, I love that he’s an eldritch horror that may in fact be on humanity’s side. It’s not a sure thing, but just the idea -- it’s a cool flip of the usual “we are trapped in an uncaring universe with uncaring creatures on all sides.” I also love the bosses from Bloodborne, because FUCK they look cool. (Gotta rewatch some of that...)
My questions:
Do you have a favorite genre of music, or do you just listen to whatever you like and that’s that?
Which do you prefer, writing or drawing?
Cake, cookie, or ice cream?
What’s your favorite humor site or webcomic?
What’s your dream career?
Which superpower would you rather have -- the ability to rewind time, or the ability to split off multiple copies of yourself?
What’s your favorite season?
Dance Dance Revolution or Guitar Hero?
Do you chew gum? Do you have a favorite flavor if you do?
Strangest prize you’ve ever seen available in a Dave & Buster’s/Chuck E. Cheese’s/similar establishment?
Have you ever actually handled a VHS tape?
My taggees: @nebbychan, @yarrayora, @kuujo, @poesdaughter, @raventears12
#meme#facts about me#you would catch me when I wasn't totally obsessing over a song#admittedly I do have a fondness for my latest song saturday#that's a good band#and such a nice piece#queued
