So, losing William seems to have been Joan's breaking point. But who was William to Joan? Obviously, he's someone who she loved very much...

William name meaning: resolute protector; will, desire; helmet, protection.

Calls to mind that William was her "shield," doesn't it?

Joan lost sight of the meaning of life. She gave into nihilism.

Holding these twins in my hands. squishing them like playdough. one of them fights desperately to find the kindness and good and light even when its a fools errand. leaves himself open and hurt for a little bit of light. if it keeps vex safe, happier. one of them counting and calculating and running and cruel because the world demands it. keeps the counter going and going and does the hard things if it keeps vax whole, and okay. one close range and one long.

they'll hurt each other if it keeps the other whole. they'll gladly get hurt if it keeps the other safe. the world is harsh, and they are surviving. what the fuck. theyre such a fucked up pair. they love each other so much.

hey, your video compilation of 4chan post about shield is a great ressource for fandom psychology. Interesting to see another user who lurk the wrestling board and use tumblr. Did you ever work on compilation of the tumblr fandom during the peak of the shield era ? I did not research it yet. xoxo

glad someone liked that video, only in times when im super fixated on something will i end up searching through the 4chan archives for more content...unfortunately 4chan vernacular tends to get a laugh out of me (if it isnt absolute lowtier content, had to scrape through a lot of that). the shield stuff i tried to get from when it was at its peak and you'll see posts on there from 2013+, but i also got modern stuff now bc the boardspeak actually changed with it.

ironically it is way easier to deepdive and compile stuff from 4chan bc it has a much better archival system than tumblr; ive also looked for lots of old stuff on deviantart due to the crossover but i found that it has a pretty shitty way of archiving/sorting older posts (just like on here. ive been on tumblr since 13 so i know what sorts of areas to look for, but its still very hard to find it directly on here. i havent spent as much time as i did getting those posts for that video so i can try harder.)

fandom psychology is interesting to me too so im happy you saw my video with that angle. ive collected lots of old shield fangirl content off of sites like weheartit and pinterest (ironically those are often better at keeping images up for longer periods of time) too but i didnt know if i should make a comp, maybe i will. i also looked through random forums and places like lolcow dot farms (which only really granted one of the screenshots...not too much discussion over there for good or bad. i was hoping to find discussion abt shieldfangirls or wrestling rpf but surprisingly they didnt think to make a "point and laugh" thread abt those topics). i find it interesting how much shieldrelated psychosis was on both sides of the spectrum (tumblr vs 4chan)....i could talk more on it but im a little brainless and sleep deprived rn

There's was an idea of a contestant who befriends all of the interns already, but I have another execution

We need a td character who somehow becomes friends with one of the interns. They start spend a lot of time together outside of challenges (possibly because they share some interests and maybe struggles with communication with others) and grow closer (it may work either platonic or romantic, I enjoy both variants but gotta admit that the idea of the romance between a contestant and an intern sounds more interesting to me). The contestant doesn't have any strong connections with any other contestants (they just being the friendly yet lonely one) because of it but they manages to go far because they just do a great job during challenges and often win immunity for their team or themself after the merge, so everyone just thinks they are a good player. But the truth is that the intern was secretly helping the contestant all this time without contestant's awarness of it

Bonus points if the contestant suddenly being eliminated by Chris because of "cheating" without specific explanation so everyone thinks that the contestant was playing dirty all along. And only the intern knows the truth and feels super guilty about it but too afraid to tell this to the contestant because they think it may ruin their relationships

Bonus bonus points if the contestant finds out about this whole thing and it causes a conflict between them and the intern and they go through the arc where they learn to trust each other again (and maybe trying to become more separated and find another friends they may rely on)

(btw, sorry if I send too many suggestions, I just have a lot of thoughts)

the way the dmlx 3hopes supports end makes me scream and cry etc. like it’s crazy that they ended w The Carrying Scene in the first place but actually for real it is Crazy that it LITERALLY ended w felix carrying dimitri. like that is THE perfect end to their support arc here. felix reaches out to him over & over the entire game trying to help/get through to him………

and then of course the king awakens cutscene where felix is the one to actually physically reach out to dimitri in fhirdiad. esp in that scene DIMITRI is the one to turn away—literally every time felix reaches out to him he just does not get what he’s saying & turns him down bc he thinks he’s responsible for fixing everything alone. so for their support chain to end with dimitri ALLOWING felix to literally physically carry him to bed is just so so so so so good and significant and perfect it makes me unwell

Inspired by a theme in the story and a few scenes in Arcs 1-3. It’s arrogant to try and be someone’s savior, to assume you can override and then prevent more trauma-but it’s hard not to try when you love someone.

He was six, the first time Eddie realized something wasn’t right. He was six years old when his Mom had sternly told him not to tell his school teachers about why he had a bruise on his on his wrist.

She hadn’t meant to, of course. Eddie had just been babbling about Ms. Nantauk’s first grade class and how he made a new friend, Gunner, and they played together and recess, and ate lunch together, and Gunner brought Eddie a rubber ducky from his house, and and and…his mom had gripped his wrist a little too hard to get him to snap out of his thoughts. She needed to do that sometimes, he understood. He was too unruly.

She had told him that if anybody asked him about the light red smattering around his wrist to tell them he had carried to many grocery bags, this confused Eddie. He knew, he knew, she didn’t mean to do it, so why was his mom so worried? He was small, Edison Munson, six going on twenty, really. But on the bus that brisk Tuesday morning, he considers that the other kids had scapes on their knees and bruises on their shins from rough housing at recess, but Eddie’s bruises that he occasionally had, not so often from his mom, but quite a few in the shape of palms from his father, maybe the other kids at school didn’t get those kinds of bruises.

Eddie was thirteen when everything came crashing down.

His uncle Wayne, was going to marry Miss Amanda. He didn’t really know Miss Amanda, he hardly even knew his uncle, but he did know that he loved him. Wayne never made Eddie feel unwanted, or unseen. He had grown used to it, of course he had. He had known for a while that Amelia and Richard Munson did not want him. Amelia could hardly take care of herself, and Richard, well, he just wanted a friend, not a son. When he was 10 and Richard had taught him how to hotwire a car, Eddie realized again that normal kids don’t go through this type of lesson.

The common nagging of normal children don’t go through this, triggered in his brain again, when Miss Amanda threw him a little baggy, “Edison, get rid of this right now!” His uncle had his dad backed into a corner, and Eddie couldn’t help the dark chuckle that escaped his lips as he looked at the bag in his hands. God, he wished it could’ve been flour or sugar, but no. As sweet as he assumed the substance was it was neither, it was Dick Munsons nasty heroin habit, sitting there right in his thirteen year old sons hands. His mom and had ducked out years ago, leaving a 9 year old Eddie with an addict, thief of a shell of a father, and honestly? Eddie was surprised he had managed to keep it all under wraps for as long as he had. But it was there, in his Uncles small trailer, that the broken record of this isn’t normal, this isn’t what you deserve kept running over and over again in his mind.

Eddie had buried the drugs in the woods behind Wayne’s house, and Miss Amanda had up and left that night. Wayne didn’t get his wedding, but he did get Eddie.
