hey folks

popping in to say a lover’s pinch part four will probably be shared more towards the end of the month

my personal life is down the shitter at the moment and im sad and stressed, so in the minimal time i've spent writing i am simply producing the most depressing angsty shit i've ever created lmao

so yeah just a heads up that an update is still like two weeks away

Not to be cringe Luaisy trash, but- what exactly do you think makes Daisy start crushing on Luigi? Is there a specific trait/moment that makes her go “….Oh. This green guy kinda rules.” or? (You can answer the same for Luigi too if you want, but I figured he may be a bit more obvious, haha! Unless you think he starts crushing on her for more unexpected reasons???)

I think it was a slow buildup of tiny traits.

The first thing that struck her was his clumsiness: the way he flails and fumbles the catch himself is while still earnestly putting himself out there. It evoked a certain sense of both endearment and protectiveness.

Next was how sweet and polite he was to the point of being a little bit of a doormat. That was when she started rooting for him above everyone else.

Then, Luigi showed how brave and capable actually he was, fighting alongside his brother to make sure that those who couldn't defend themselves were safe despite being terrified himself.

That was her "oh no" moment, when she realized she didn't just like him as a friend and a person she enjoyed hanging out with, she liked him liked him, and every time she thought about him she got that tell-tale flutter in her chest.

anyway this is going to have a slightly different Mood than my previous post but i’ve just woken up to hear about people. leaking early access builds of the games of some of my very good friends and i couldn’t be more disgusted.

if you’re not aware (i say, assuming that the people doing this actually don’t know and are not simply of the belief that it doesn’t matter because authors don’t deserve any money, which is highly possible) early access is one of the easiest things an author can give as a benefit on patreon - not everybody has the time or energy or opportunity to provide bonus content every month, and if you drive authors away from giving early access, you will put a lot of them in a position where they CANNOT offer ANY benefits at all.

there will still be some readers who are happy to support their favourite authors even with no benefits, so you’re not going to stop authors having patreons, if that’s your particularly spiteful motivation. you’re just going to make it so that nobody gets to see the game early. hooray... you win?

i’ve spent a lot of this year struggling to keep myself from becoming homeless due in large part to my physical disabilities, and the thought that once i have enough of the game out i could maybe open a patreon and provide early access to supporters for perhaps a few extra dollars a month so that i could afford to buy dinner once in a while or god forbid eat some dessert on a bad day is one of the main hopes i’ve been holding close to my chest to help keep me going when i’ve really wanted to give up on everything. now i don’t know if i can do that anymore because it’s clear that people in this community can’t be trusted.

i hope anyone who has partaken of leaked early access versions is proud of themselves for the probably irreparable damage they’ve caused to the trust relationship between authors and readers in this community :/

Okay so I know I just literally sent in a prompt like 5 seconds ago, but I just came up with the BEST idea to add on to it if possible holy shit. It's still d&d shenanigans, but... it's at Hackett's Quarry. Does this mean them trying to 'teach' the game to impressionable young children? Or are they the 'impressionable' children in question? I leave that up to you but I hope you have fun with it dhdjsksdhdks

The game had started as a joke, really, just something stupid they all did after lights-out and the campers were snoring away safe and sound - they'd creep out to the picnic tables under the big tree one by one, bringing snacks or stories or whatever other tiny treasures the day had provided, and they'd elbow one another and talk in funny voices until inevitably tears streamed down their cheeks and it became too hard to tamp down their laughter and they'd have to call it quits.

After a few nights it became clear none of them save Ryan could hold down a story to save their lives, so he was given the task of reigning them in; after a few nights more, Nick miraculously found some dice in an old board game box, and suddenly it became harder for Emma and Jacob to swoop in and miraculously solve each and every pitfall with a schoolyard shrug and a "Because I said so!"

There was a night where Dylan surprised them all with an awful, scratchy soundtrack put together from cassettes Mr. H had just left lying around the radio hut, and another where Abigail sheepishly handed out drawings of each of their characters. Both of those were met with quiet cheers and shimmied shoulders, but when Kaitlyn presented everyone with the worst wooden figurines any of them had ever seen (most carved to look less like valiant heros, or humans, and more like incredibly deformed genitalia), that was when they'd laughed so hard and so loud that they'd nearly gotten caught...and even then, they'd all spent the following day trading knowing looks and pointing to their ribs as if to say they still ached.

It was never anything official, never anything as regimented as needing character sheets or assigning someone to keep notes of where they left off the last time - it was just fun. And more importantly than that, it was just for them.
