i finally caved and bought skyward sword hd, im going to be very grumpy about it because i like the wii version better but at least i get to play it again

What’s the difference between the Wii version and the switch version? Like I know that you have the option to do buttons vs motion control on the switch, and that Fi doesn’t pop out every five seconds on the switch, but those are the only differences I know about :-/

Hello and welcome to the Queering the Chain creation event! There will be a list of prompts dedicated to diversifying our lovely Linked Universe boys, girls, and everyone in between. The event will run through the month of July.

Let's get the question of Linkshipping out of the way first. I am respecting Jojo's request and while I don't encourage Linkshipping within the Chain of Linked Universe, I can't prevent it. This blog will not engage, positively or negatively, with content that ships Linked Universe Links with each other.

All ratings are allowed. This blog will engage with content of any rating as long as it does not interfere with the above. Explicit content will be archived in a single post, which minors are discouraged from interacting with. Do not attempt to argue this, as my decision is final. Queerphobia and purity culture go hand in hand, and this event intends to combat both.

There will be 15 main prompts along with some alternate prompts. They are not limited to any specific days in July.

You can combine as many prompts as you want.

First off, @triforce-of-mischief is one of the best writers I know. She is so incredibly talented, and has a sizable collection of absolutely amazing fics (go read if you haven’t, leave a comment or kudo or reblog or all three, they deserve them all their stories are so so good and also they are just an awesome person)

Anyway, one of my personal favorites is Mom of Four, I have read it so many times, and it lives forever in my heart as the one that made me go “hold up Fable that was you?” Check it out and give her some love if you haven’t, it has all the feels and I love it so so much <3

So…I did a doodle for it :3 I had a sketch all planned out with Malon and all the colors and it was going to be glorious but uh…I bit off a little more than I could chew. That many bodies was too much; too many arms and legs and everyone looked kind of like slugs, so…take five was the winner :D Hope you like it Fable <3

Because my dear friend @triforce-of-mischief is a horrible person who left us hanging, I had to fix it.

Summary:

There's nothing quite like the mazes that Cia loves to create to torment the people around her, and nearly dying and coming back never stopped her before. Link has to find his brothers in this mess, and he prays he's not too late to help them. But even finding the worst hurt of their group isn't enough: because of course, with all of them to choose from, Cia was bound to take at least one prisoner. Pity for her she angered the wrong man.

Rated T, for brief graphic violence. Linked Universe & That Broken Promise crossover fic. Some disrespect to a deaf character (that ends poorly for her.)

That Broken Promise Prince (Hyrule Warriors Link) POV, so deaf character. Implied control of a person, although nothing specific happens, and implied near death experience for LU Wind.

I'm Circusislife, I go by Circus here! Feel free to give me a nickname if you want! (Just nothing degradatory, or I WILL be coming for you -_- ) :D

If the name didn't give It away, I love circus! I have been going to circus school since before I was 8yo, have over a decad of experience behind be and counting, and cannot see myself quitting It anytime soon! (I'll become a teacher if that's what It takes, but I'll be old dead and burried before anything will be able to take It from me)

I have adhd (and Will fight haters). Was also Lucky enough to get an early diagnosis, so i have picked up a few tricks here and there to deal with it. Feel free to ask for tips! (And unlock the oversharing mode mwahahahha) :D

Been through too many fandoms to list them all, but the main One Is Legend of Zelda, Linked universe in particular.

Would you be willing to tell us your first impression of the chain compared to how you feel about each of them now that you've explored them more in your stories?

Sure!

So, my first impressions were very biased, but they are as follows

Like any person who got into this fandom recently and through fanart, I knew Wild first and as such I loved him best. I thought he was a bit more serious than I would have thought from what 'd seen elsewhere, but I was chill with that. I thought he was fun, traumatized, and just a blurbo.

Now? Now, I like Wild. he's fun, and he has his moments. I do agree that there's a bit much of him in the fandom, but I can't blame y'all for liking him! He's a good character, although a bit stale for me now. He's like cookie-dough, I think. He's very nice and full of potential but after enough of him it's all just the same dough with a few different toppings :( I love him, don't get me wrong, he just isn't very fulfilling to write or read about anymore

Legend, as you all know, is my current favorite, but originally? Heck no! He wasn't very involved in stuff so I mostly saw the fanon content, and half of it painted him so cruely! Like, I thought he legit an ass all the time, and not in a good way. The fandom portrayed him like my childhood bully and I wanted to stay the heck outta the way of that mess.

And then, while looking for Wild fics, I accidentally ran into some for Legend and one thing led to another and- the ass who cared about no one but himself and who was cruel and selfish, turned out to be this guy who shows his love and care in subtle ways and actions. He's brash and a bit rough around the edges, but he does care and he would do anything for his brothers. He's strong and steps up when needed, and he's both intelligent and aware, something that is sadly disproportionate among links, who are usually only one or the other.

Twilight struck me as a worrying and sometimes dumb big brother who is kinda doofy. Like, I thought he was just a goofy but overly defensive big bro at first, and he just happened to turn into a wolf. I didn't know anything from canon, so I just rolled with that.

And then I learned more about his game, both from reading and hear y'all chatter. now? twilight is the overtired big sibling who sees himself as the one who has to be a pillar. He forgets about some of the others and focuses mostly on Wild and Time, but when they aren't around he loves being with the others. He's stressed, traumatized, and I don't feel like he's had enough time to process the garbage he's been through. Honestly, he's scary relatable and potentially dead

Time? Dad, just dad. I knew he was dad, and I still think he is dad. Now, I know now that he has a mischief gremlin side, but before his only trait was gruff leader dad man who I would like to have in my life because reasons (not simpy ones). My opinions of him haven't changed much

Wind? I saw this kid and was worried he'd be annoying. he;s not. i saw him as just a kid t first, but the more I got into stuff, the more I realized that Wind is actually pretty mature and intelligent. I think that's the only thing that changed in my mind though, Wind gained a brain and maturity in my understanding of him, but he was still a doofy lil guy who loved to chill with his bros and is a bit out of depth in this adventure, but willing to face it anyway and do his best.

Hyrule, sadly, was a non-entity for me. I always forgot him and he just...didn't stand out. Now, I see him and know he's a traveler and the bearer of the whole triforce, The fandom makes him babey but he could kill a man with ease, and he's got some self confidence issues, but a bit of snark and a quick mind. He's simple, but I love him for that :)

Four was...I was so confused by Four. I had no clue who he was, why he looked so odd, and what was up with him being four people in that one old art piece. I just kinda let him fall into the background. And then I learned who he was, what he did, and what he can do. i fell in love and if I had the space, I would explain every little facet of his selves that I love, but to save time I will just say that I now see him as a smart little cookie who takes most things in stride. He's a chill guy, most of the time, but he's secretly losing his mind inside and just trying to keep everyone, including himself, alive.

Oh boy...now for the last two, Warriors and Sky.

Honestly? Sky was just, boring. He didn't do much, and he just seemed like this guy who was always smiling and chill and quiet and i just...I didn't care for him? Like, he wasn't bad, but he wasn't interesting. Just that one guy who is always calm and I honestly felt he was overrated.

And then I learned more and now I love him. I think of Sky now as being a softie and a caring person who has been through so much and just needs a good sleep. Maybe gifted child burnout similarities or something. But that's only half the time. the rest of the time? he's the chosen of the goddess Hylia, he's the killer of Demnise. He's terrifying and battle hardened, but he doesn't let that stop him from being a caring and gentle person, and I admire that :) I think of him like a sword, pretty to look at, nice in the background when it's chill, but devastating on the field of battle and totally capable of ending you.

And then we have the captain.....

To be honest, I hated him. He was this tall pretty boy who had a lot of love and cool moments, but, he just...bugged me. What made him special? why should he matter over anyone else? Seriously, why does this twink get so much attention?

And then I wrote him. And I did it again. i wrote him because I didn't like him, so if I messed it up I wouldn't feel bad, but the more I wrote, the more I got attached and, well.

He's strong, he's hardened and he's hurt. he handles it better than most of the others, but they guy still has his issues. Like Sky, he doesn't let that stop him from being there for others and supporting them, and he balances himself better than Twi, not giving until he's got nothing left, but knowing his limits. He's a good leader when time can't, and he's smart and capable. I like him, I like him a lit :)

So uhhhh future lore for MLUAU cause I just kinda seem to post whatever I'm in my feels over in the moment: Legend's kids! I just care them all so much and wanted to share quick, more info on each kiddo below the cut

I always kinda thought Legend would be a good dad and Arin agreed and ajskkd they shared the brilliant idea that he has a kid to represent each adventure from his games (I'm still not over it 😭)

So Glen (named after Links Dad) is inspired by A Link to the Past- he's got his dad's rebellious streak and a love for retro vibes

Aster is inspired by the Oracle games, he's a big softie and loves fairytales ♡ The Oracle games were a bit of a two in one deal, and Aster did have a twin sister, Autumn, but they lost her too soon.

Ivy is inspired by Links Awakening, she's a daydreamer with a big imagination and her dad's knack for music.

Sean is inspired by A Link Between Worlds, and is Glen's partern in crime. The two are buddies and get into all sorts of mischief together. Arin worded it best when they put it: the two poke into places both highrule and lowrule and must be stopped ajskkskd Sean's into a little more modern stuff than his brother though, super interested in sci-fi and tech.

And little Willow is inspired by Triforce Heroes! She's the most outgoing and emotional of the bunch, and is their little fashionista

Linked Universe Dynamics

(or at least how I view everyone getting along)

Warriors/Time: Big bro, baby bro/mother hen extreme mode. Wars treats Time like his little brother and Time goes with it. Wars is who Time goes to when things get rough.

Warriors/Twilight: Best friends that can hear each others thoughts and often speak in sync. Just the best of buds. Two peas in a pod if you will. Often laugh at the younger boys and gang up on them occasionally.

Warriors/Four: managed mischief......fear them. Oh the ideas and strategies that come out of those two when they're together. Incredible.

Warriors/Wild: Mischief not even trying to be managed in any way at all. They don't know what to do with eachother and their stupidity is contagious. Senior/Freshman friendship energy.

Warriors/Wind: Same person different font, very cute and cuddly but in a will die for you way. Warriors tries not to baby Wind, and Wind goes to him to share thoughts or ideas he has when he's afraid no one will listen. Wars goes to him too.

Warriors/Hyrule: unexpectedly wholesome big bro/little bro. The hair ruffling duo. They're just so delightful together, and make everyone feel more comfortable and relaxed.

Warriors/Legend: Oldest child vs. middle child best friends/but sometimes I hate you. They talk a lot and keep eachother going when they need it. Super super great fighting team. Best in the group actually. They just know.

Warriors/Sky: you know that one cousin you just vibe with? Seriously they're so chill. Chill duo all the way. Sky likes to tease Warriors occasionally, but Wars really looks up to Sky and they just work.

Time/Twilight: Will jump off a cliff for you without hesitation. They also constantly communicate every little thing to eachother. They know that if they aren't both in the loop, something could go very wrong.

Time/Four: Reasonable™ shares glances and eye rolls so.......sass duo. Sass duo all the way. Four likes hanging around Time and they both just sort of get eachother. They don't have to try too hard to judge a situation.

Time/Wild: Father/child sort of, but mainly it's trust duo. Wild usually goes to Twi for things, but when he goes to Time that means it's really really necessary. Time is always there, and he always keeps what Wild tells him to himself. Wild does the same.

Time/Wind: Don't call me son. Bond over how great of a big brother Wars is. Wind is actually the one that checks on Time the most. He's also not afraid to get in his bubble when it's needed. The others hesitate when Time needs something because they don't want to bother him, but Wind and Wars don't. It's a cool little bond they have.

Time/Hyrule: Breakfast duo/soft duo. Very sweet together, likes to sit by eachother at meals or by the campfire. Time sometimes pulls Roolie aside to show him something, and Hyrule likes to just listen to Time talk when he wants to.

Time/Legend: Leaders. Stubborn by definition™ holy crap run for cover. These two.....HYLIA THESE TWO. They are so incredibly difficult, but there is something there that is so cool. Time knows that Legend is the one that will step up if something needs to be done. Hard things, simple things, helpful things, tricky things, you name it. He is sort of Time's backup, and they are the only ones that know. If anything happened to Time, Legend would take charge without hesitation and vice versa. Really cool.

Time/Sky: College kid teaching a Highschool kid how to win at life. Surprisingly nice dynamic here. Time likes to listen to Sky talk. It takes his mind off of things and let's him relax and be happy. Some of Sky's less light conversations are held with Time as well. They are the ones that will talk until 3am about anything and everything.

Twilight/Four: Friends/Silent understanding. Never awkward. Always speak their mind around eachother. Confidants. Four talks to Twi about his problems, and Twi goes to Four too. They also like to high five and they fight well together.

Twilight/Wild: Little brother/Big brother sometimes chaotic but mostly loving and supporting. Wild wakes Twi from his bad dreams and Twi does the same for Wild. They would end the world for eachother.

Twilight/Wind: Proud duo. They like to show eachother things they know. They will seek eachother out when they discover something and share knowledge it's so cute. Wind and Twi also give eachother hugs and pats on the back a lot.

Twilight/Hyrule: Brunette squad/Forest duo. Get mistaken for brothers a lot. Really cute, will jump in leaves together when everybody nobody is watching. They can be themselves around eachother. Twi doesn't ask for anything from Hyrule and Hyrule doesn't ask anything from Twi. They can just exist together in peace.

Twilight/Legend: Actually responsible duo. Will corral the others or step up if needed. They make eachother laugh, which confuses the crap out of everyone else. Also they are the duo that would stand in the corner and silently judge you. It's great.

Twilight/Sky: Gossip duo. Tea is spilt, stories are shared, life is discussed. They do be in the know. They also like to fiddle with their hands and do puzzles together. They're also quite competitive and it's funny to watch them play a game and start screaming at eachother. It's unexpected but so, so hilarious to watch.

Four/Wild: bad ideas that work somehow. Hide your valuables, they comin. They're sneaky and they're really chaotic together, but in a functional way....I'm not sure how or why and niether does anybody else.

Four/Wind: Entertainment duo. Likes to pull pranks but also just play games with eachother. Hyrule and Wild occasionally join in. They get in trouble a lot, but that's just how it is.

Four/Hyrule: Beast mode fighter squad. These two are small but mighty and they will destroy the world, then have tea afterward. Also Four teaches Hyrule stuff he doesn't know and vice versa.

Four/Legend: Snark, smarter than anyone or anything in Hyrule, and really close friends. They just have a really really cool dynamic I can't fully explain.

Four/Sky: Affection. Four will go to Sky and only Sky for hugs or comfort. Underrated duo with a fierce loyalty to eachother. They will always take the side of the other person no matter what.

Wild/Wind: really adorable brother dynamic. They occasionally get into trouble, but mostly they just hang out. Pretty underrated duo actually.

Wild/Hyrule: Adventure gang! Always getting lost and exploring. Always coming home with a new story. They like being with eachother because they don't baby or underestimate eachother. Super great team these two.

Wild/Legend: Nerves nerves nerves, Will laugh at each others jokes and be friendly but they push eachothers buttons the most in the group.

Wild/Sky: Solid. Deep respect for eachother and they bond over culture and life. Sunlight duo. They're just bright young men that like to watch the stars together.

Wind/Hyrule: Energy duo. Keep the group alive on long days of walking. Also stay up late chatting. They also like to hear each others stories.

Wind/Legend: Dont tell me what to do!/What do I do!? Aka they share a braincell and react to being proved right/wrong the same way (often it's when they're together too)

Wind/Sky: Free duo. They CANNOT handle being trapped or underground or in the dark. They need the sun and the sky to be ok, and they stick together when they feel scared or trapped.

Hyrule/Legend: Downfall duo. Their bond is special and so strong do not mess with them. They're smart, they're fast, and they're fierce. Also the world would end if something happened to one of them.

Hyrule/Sky: Triforce duo. Do not anger at all costs. They are the shoulders to lean on when things get rough, but they are also the fiercest fighters. They both have the full triforce and together they fight like a hurricane. It's......terrifying in theory actually.

Legend/Sky: In the know. They just get eachother. Legend will occasionally be snarky, but they just silently understand and actually go to eachother for advise and help. Really cool dynamic with these two.

Y'know what. I just had a thought and I'm going to share it because it's What I Do.

I recently saw a really, really good writer putting down their work because it wasn't 'up to their usual standards', and 'not as good as it could have been' and 'just plain garbage' (It was none of you my lovely moots, I have no idea who this person was, I just saw them online).

And I read their little story and like...it was good. It was really, really good. Maybe they've been writing longer than me, maybe they're just That Talented, but it made me think that like...it was better than probably anything I'll ever produce, and...they didn't like it.

Made me think things like 'why do I bother sharing my weird little stories when even something this good isn't Good Enough?'

So then, because I'm me, I had a Lot Of Thoughts. What if there's a Baby Writer reading my stuff, and they see me throwing down on it because I have the self-confidence of a bullied slug, and decide that hey. Maybe my stuff's not Good Enough, so I'll keep it to myself.

Because the thing is, I've been writing for fifteen years. Am I great at it? Maybe not. As good as I'll ever get? No, everyone's always improving all the time! But I've been doing it for a while. Will everything I write be a masterpiece? Absolutely not! But do I string together words with a little more proficiency than somebody writing their first story ever? Probably. And I don't want any of them looking at what I say about my writing and deciding that they shouldn't try.

So, this is my official statement that I'm going to stop being self-deprecating about the things I create, and my request for anyone who sees me break this promise to jump on me and make me delete it. Yes, I'm still going to look at it and feel like it could be better. I'm still going to read my stuff and hate it sometimes. I'm human, and sometimes humans have trouble seeing value in their own work, even if it's so easy to see it in other people's. But I'm trying to get better. Because just the act of creating something makes it priceless. We, as writers and artists and people in general, put a little piece of our hearts into everything we do, and that's worth something. It's worth creating. It's worth sharing. And it's worth forcing yourself to see the value in it.

Please, please, never look at what somebody thinks about themselves, or anyone else, and wonder if it applies to you.

Never hesitate to create something, and share it, and be proud of it, just because maybe you think it will never be as good as what somebody else made.

It's not a race. It's not a competition. We're here to have fun.

The Loaf

Title: The Loaf

Warnings: Implied major character death. The loaf wins. Unironic use of the word "Yonkers".

General Notes: I tried something different with this one; it switches back and forth between past and present. Past will be in italics.

More Notes: This is sheer insanity. I had a lot of fun with it, and am fully prepared to face the consequences of my actions.

It was a curse, he was sure of it. Whether it was the bread or himself that was cursed, he may never know for sure. But he did know, with absolute certainty, that normal bread didn't behave in such a manner.

But he didn’t have time to question the origins of the loaf. Barely had time to arm himself with a spoon. By the time he saw the loaf, it was too late.

It had all started hours earlier, when Time had called for a break and the Links had settled down in a clearing to rest their legs, refill their waterskins, or take a quick nap. It had taken minimal convincing for everyone to agree to let Wild wander; go off on his own to run off some energy and scavenge for interesting mushrooms. And that, if he had been able to look back on the occasion, may have been his first mistake.

The loaf towered over him, easily five feet tall. It was just bread, really, but he could swear it had a face. The perfectly baked crust flaked in such a way as to give it the impression of angry eyebrows, glaring down at Wild as if he had, somehow, personally wronged the bread. As if he weren’t solely responsible for giving it life.

He found the mushroom beside a tree, nestled between a mess of roots as mushrooms so often are. It was bigger than any mushroom he’d ever seen, and glowing a bright intense orange. It seemed alive, in a way that far surpassed all other fungi. The glow pulsated in the evening light, and a grin broke across Wild’s face as ran forward, clutching the stalk of the mushroom between his hands. It was hard to pull up, the mycelium reaching far into the ground. The mushroom was strong, but Wild was stronger. Eventually, the roots snapped and Wild stumbled backwards with the loss of resistance, landing hard on the ground but grinning from ear to ear at the massive mushroom in his hands. It was going to make a fantastic snack, he thought. And that, anyone would agree, was his second mistake.

Wild was a gentleman, so he let the bread throw the first punch. If what the bread did could, in fact, be called a punch. It moved in ways that shouldn’t have been possible for such a massive wall of freshly cooked yeasty goodness, traveling on invisible feet to hurl itself at Wild, whacking his head with the usually-satisfying crackle of crisp bread crust being torn. It didn’t sound as nice, up close; not when the bread was pounding into his skull.

He swung the spoon, then; whacking it into the side of the bread in a desperate attempt to bring down his biggest mistake. To undo the monster he had created. But the bread was a step ahead, as it always seemed to be. It made sense, he realized as it happened, that a bread that could come to life would also be able to absorb a wooden spoon.

The spoon disappeared into the side of the bread, consumed just like every other chance he had at defending himself. It was just him and his fists, now. Just Wild’s bare hands against the bread.

He didn’t take the mushroom back to the makeshift camp to show the others; if he did, they’d only tell him not to eat it. They’d say it’s ‘too big’ and ‘too orange’ and ‘doesn’t even grow around here where’d you find it put it back’. There were times he was absolutely sure that they didn’t want him to have any fun at all.

And so he set up right where he was. Started a fire, heated up his portable cooking pot, and set to work on preparing his latest creation.

The mushroom was powdery; almost flour-like, when he crushed it with a rock and sprinkled it into the pot. With a texture like that, only one course of action made sense: he was going to make bread. Or a pancake, really, given the supplies he had to work with. But it would be huge and delicious and when he brought it back to camp, everyone would ‘ooh’ and ‘ahh’ over how good it was. Just as long as they never found out what it was made out of.

He tossed in the other ingredients; some milk of questionable origins, an egg he’d found in a hot spring three or four months prior, and a sprinkle of his live yeast culture. Afterall, there was nothing worse than flat bread.

Once the last few ingredients were added, he stirred it all up with his spoon and sat on a rock to wait; humming quietly to himself as he watched the pot patiently. Alone, in the woods, cooking bread made out of mushrooms. It was truly the recipe for his third mistake.

With nothing left to fight back with, Wild flung his fists with all his might. They impacted against the side of the loaf, bread flakes flying but doing nothing to halt the path of carnage the loaf was creating. The fifth time his fist connected with the crust, he was forcefully reminded of the fate of his favorite spoon.

He was absorbed. Slowly, to give him the illusion of hope. His hand sunk into the bread, encased within the warm interior of his latest baking endeavor. “Yonkers!” He shouted in panic as the bread sucked him in up to her shoulder. He was powerless to fight back against the loaf; he had no weapons, and bread would not hear reason. He was well and truly trapped.

The bread didn’t stop rising when it hit pancake-height, but he didn’t really question it until it crested the rim of the pan. It just kept going up, and Wild could only stare in wonder at the cooking miracle he had discovered. They would be eating this bread for weeks; and he wouldn’t be leaving the area without a stockpile of the magical mushroom that had made it all possible.

Zelink pet name headcanons

Because 1.) I'm a sucker for pet names, as we've previously established and 2.) I'm still freaking out over the latest trailer :D

warnings: trauma hinted at

Zelda was the first to use a pet name, because it’s something she’s always seen cute couples do, and she wanted to do it as well

She had to work up the nerve to do it, and even then, it came out quick, quiet, and with a small stutter. She had tried to do it naturally as she handed Link something, simply saying “Yes, of course, here you go… dear”

Link's brain went error, error and he was like I love you Zelda but it's too early for you to be being this cute

Link froze for a fraction of a second, before carrying on normally, albeit with a small blush. Then, just as bashful as Zelda, he replied, “Thank you, dear”

In public, they rarely use pet names. Link is well… Link. He hardly says anything in front of others, let alone something so endearing. Zelda is bashful and feels that, as the Princess and Champion of Hyrule, a certain amount of professionalism is required

Zelda tends to call Link things like my knight in shining armor, dear, love, darling, and simply my Link

Link loves all of them, though all he may do is nod and blush

When Link is upset, Zelda calls him sweetheart and he absolutely melts

Using pet names really isn’t Link’s suite. He prefers to show affection by spending time together, taking care of her, doing/making things for her, and little bits of physical affection

But, he does his best because he’s realized that part of the reason Zelda likes pet names is simply because of how… normal they are. Something to make them forget they're Triforce holders

Link tends to call her dear, my little bird (courtesy of Urbosa), love, and my Zelda

When he calls her my beauty or flower, she always blushes and quiet mischief dances through his eyes and smirk

He actually tends to avoid calling her princess once they’re courting, because Zelda really doesn’t need more reminders of her position and duties :’)
