I used 2 be friends with this guy in uni and he was an alright bloke. around when we graduated he kind of lost his marbles and fell in love with a gacha character. he has a nearly 2k twitter following about it and is genuinely depressed she died in the game. any advice on how 2 convince him 2 get a job and stop living on his mums sofa?
this anon makes me understand why canada started euthanizing people.

It's competitive but I think my favorite Conan anecdote is when he told his therapist "Everyone hates me, they think I have no talent and they wish I would just go away," and his therapist said "That's called negative self-talk and you have to realize it's just the depression talking" and Conan said "Self-talk? I'm just quoting my latest review!"

20 Miles and 6000 Feet (Death Valley National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking along the Dante's View Trail with a view looking to the northwest across Badwater Basin to snowcapped ridges and peaks of the Panamint Range on the other side of the valley. Compose the same message, I pull back on the focal length and then angle my Nikon SLR camera slightly downward to bring out more of a sweeping view down the mountainside and then across the valley. I figured that would bring the mountains higher into the image and create more of a sense of grandeur with them. There would be a little bit of blue skies above, but I felt they really add much to the image as a negative space. The focus with the image would be on the patterns and colors of the salt basin, as well as the more distant mountains. As for the distances, that was just a simple Google measuring tool from Dantes View to Telescope Peak. The elevation was also from Dantes View but down to Badwater Basin and it being below sea level.

throughout the series of drake and josh it pretty consistently implies that josh nichols is a christian (josh peck is jewish) and in the finale of the series helen (played by yvette nicole brown, not jewish[?]) is portrayed as a practicing jew
#i dont have a problem w either of those things necessarily i just find it interesting#if i had to guess. drake and josh was a mainstream that didnt wanna touch on religion generally#but josh was kind of a dork and usually when josh's religious beliefs are implied it is in dorkish ways#such as praying and thanking the lord after he has his first kiss.#but since dan schneider is jewish perhaps he wanted to make helen have a jewish wedding in the finale?#not that there needs to be a reason. but u do notice occasional jewish-related jokes in d&j but none of them are what you could call#offensive. in good faith that is. 'eric is a pacifist' 'i thought he was jewish?' like come on#text post#i have been rewatching drake and josh recently and i have had so many thoughts#im almost done. i just have left that stupid dance episode that they premiered last for the stupid reason#of a special dance-themed premiere night in fall 2007. they premiered the third episode of icarly and a new zoey 101 on the same night#which i think is so stupid. they should've aired really big shrimp last. it messed w my understanding of the series at the time lol#i remember not really knowing that the show was ENDING. like i knew icarly was starting & miranda was doing that#i thought really big shrimp was like just another special like go hollywood.#and then like two days later they premiered the helicopter episode for some reason#and i was like why is drake not famous in this. he just had a number 1 song in a superbowl commercial#and then a month later the dance one. which. if anything is satisfying about that as a final episode it's just that#that unnamed girl from the blues brothers episode who is obsessed w drake shows up again and congratulates them#and the very final line of the series is 'who is she?' because. because really who IS she?#that's a funny enough throwback to wrap things up with i suppose#drake and josh wasn't a highly serialized show so i can see how they could air those after the intended finale and act like it didn't matte#but i have to tell you it did fuck with my brain a bit at the time. lol. i still think of those episodes as having 'happened' after#and on paramount plus those episodes are still placed after really big shrimp. the injustice#but thats kinda messy. what a weird way to end such an influential and popular sitcom#season 4 had a few lowpoints while still also having some VERY solid episodes.#idk. ill have to continue my series review another time im getting way too longwinded here#helen dubois is jewish

Seeing the Sights of Death Valley National Park
flickr
Seeing the Sights of Death Valley National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: Another set of rock formations I found myself amongst and then used them as a foreground interest in the image captured with a look to the basin and snowcapped peaks beyond. This is along the Dantes View Trail in Death Valley National Park. I decided to angle my Nikon SLR camera slightly downward to create more of a sweeping view, down the mountainside and then to the basin below. I felt that raising those distant mountain peaks higher into the image would help to create more of a sense of grandeur.

Here they are! The two edgelords you've all been waiting for, Re-verse Kagami and Luka
I had a lot of different interpretations of these two, but the one I ended up settling on is them as villains. They're the current Dragon and Snake miraculous holders and they've been working for the Supreme longer than Marinette and Adrien (hence the even more pronounced scars on their faces). They were Marinette and Adrien's superiors and trained them when they first joined, and they would also be Shadybug and Claw Noir's replacements after the two of them left.
Kagami's family has been involved with the Supreme for centuries, so her mom has been training her since birth to be the next Dragon user. Since she was basically raised by the Supreme and an even more controlling version of Tomoe, this version of Kagami is way more cold and calculated. She usually doesn't speak more words than she absolutely has to.
Luka was approached by the Supreme in a similar way to Marinette. He was at a lowpoint in his life and they took advantage of that. In this universe, he lives with Jagged, while Juleka lives with Anarka. They know about their parents divorce and of each other's existence, but they almost never see each other. Juleka has no idea about all the sketchy stuff her brother is up to. Personality-wise, he's very slimy and manipulative... snakelike even
I was debating whether I should post these along with their transformed designs, or seperately, but Evil!Viperion is taking forever to draw, so I'll probably post those later this week when they're done. I also need names for Evil Ryuko and Evil Viperion, so if you have any ideas, please tell me!
Full Re-verse cast below!

Find it really fun that by S1 endgame Darryl and Ron's arcs are just like, done, meanwhile Henry and Glenn are at total lowpoints. Real role reversal and really funny to have Darryl and Ron being the emotionally intelligent ones while Henry tries to encourage violence out of his son for forced catharsis. Glenn is still basically just Glenn he hasn't really changed

The Canadian Shield
Tumblr media
Apparently, the Canadian Shield is a “geologic province”. That just means a large area with a lot of geology in common. I like it because it’s really WEIRD.
The Shield was created by glaciers sliding through. They scraped off all the topsoil and softer rock, and messed up all the watersheds. What developed in the ruins was a maze of endless rivers and lakes, large rocks covered in mosses and lichens, and trees. Lots of trees.¹
Tumblr media
There are several things that I think are cool:
the rocks, moss, and lichen
the deranged drainage system
the endlessness
Rocks, Moss, and Lichen
Much of the Canadian Shield is covered in boreal forests (also called taiga). At least, wherever there’s enough dirt. But there is a LOT of exposed rock. And growing on those rocks are the coolest plants/animals in the world – lichens.
Lichens are a symbiosis of algae, fungi, and yeast! Some look like moss – all soft branched stalks. Some look like crunchy fungi or seaweed – growing off the rocks in weird ruffles. Others look like … paint? You know how some rocks will have coloured crusty spots that can be peeled off? Those are lichen! (Some are even powdery, but we don’t get many of those in the Shield.)
Tumblr media
Then there’s ACTUAL moss. And moss is almost as cool as lichen! All wet and squishy and ridiculously complex if you look at it closely. Gorgeous stuff!
And finally, there’s the rocks themselves. If you live in an area with rocks, possibly you do not find them breathtaking. But I remember excitedly talking to my parents for SEVERAL MINUTES after seeing a rock in a field, because here in the prairies, you don’t see them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And these are COOL rocks. Bedrock. Super hard igneous rock that doesn’t wear quickly. It forms cliffs and ravines, despite the fact that the area is quite flat on the macroscale. Canoeing under a cliff face that leans over you is an awe-inspiring experience. Staring down into the depths of the lake below you, seeing that it goes straight down, and then a few feet later the water is shallow. The rocks are big, and full of neat cracks, and pretty coloured, and … they’re good rocks.
Tumblr media
Deranged Drainage System
Since the land is made of super hard rock that weathers slowly, and all the watersheds got messed up by the glaciers dumping rocks around the edges of the Shield, water struggles to form normal drainage systems. Rather than starting as small rivers and then combining  as they flow downstream, water just collects in every lowpoint. Thousands of small lakes form, connecting to each other at odd, sometimes hidden, points, with very little predictability. Rapids and waterfalls are common. Shorelines are very irregular, with all sorts of hidden coves. It becomes difficult to figure out what is an island, and what is the mainland.
Tumblr media
Looking down from the air, the landscape seems fractal. Sitting on a rock, staring at the opposite shore, it’s obvious that this is true.
Navigating these waterchannels takes a LOT of skill. Mapping them barely helps – the maps are complex enough that it’s hard to absorb the correct information. The Nîhithaw (Cree) navigate by attaching stories to the landmarks, which makes it fun to travel with a guide.
Tumblr media
Endlessness
The Canadian Shield is HUGE. It covers over half of Canada! The features that make it up are small, and complex. Most of it is sparsely inhabited. There are few roads; and a lot of areas, travel is either by boat or float plane.
The effect is that of an endless landscape. By plane, you can see more lakes than you can count, all difficult to identify. They stretch to the horizon in every direction.
By boat, you can see many, many interesting  and unique-seeming features. But half an hour later you’ll discover yourself in a spot that looks identical. You’re frequently slipping around blind corners and into narrow, hidden channels, which increases the sense of covering ground. But because you’re rarely going in a straight line, it’s difficult to figure out how far you’ve actually gone. It’s a maze, and it’s possible to travel it for days without seeing a single other human.
Tumblr media
(Or you can see multiple groups of people over an hour long trip. It’s very unpredictable.)
That combination of isolation, scale, constantly changing view (that still stays the same TYPE of view), lets me truly  FEEL the vastness. Everything about me gets quiet in the Shield. I’ll suddenly find my face aching from smiling so big for so long. The world is endless and peaceful and not designed for me in the slightest.
It’s exhilarating.
-
¹ There are a few different biomes in the Shield. But the main one, and the one I’ve mostly experienced, is the boreal forest. So that’s the part I’m focusing on. Especially the landscapes of the Whiteshell and northern Saskatchewan.

Bob theory for Doomsday and Secret Wars
In the original Secret Wars, Doom ascends to God Hood and creates Battleworld using the power of Molecule Man. But we don't have Molecule Man in the MCU. You know who else was shown to have equal reality manipulation abilities? SENTRY/BOB!
So my prediction is, that Doom is going to be looking to capture Sentry in Doomsday, giving us our lowpoint ala Infinity War. Doom, being the scientific and mystical genius that he is, manages to steal or siphon off Sentry like a battery. Using that power to remake the whole world to his image ie: Battleworld.
Secret Wars is going to be the Sam-vengers and all the other teams fighting Sentry empowered Doom, to buy time for Bucky-vengers (and Mr. Fantastic if we go by what happened in the comics) to go and free Bob so he can retake the powers of Sentry.
So in an odd way, it makes sense that the Thunderbolts are all spies and assassins! Their job come Secret Wars is not in the frontlines, it's a rescue mission to save their friend.
