Febuwhump Day 1 - Helpless
As of the night that I am writing this I am runnning on 31 hours without sleep and a strange manic energy so I figured I'd see how much Febuwhump I could write in one sitting! Definitely won't be doing the whole month because hiatus and all, but let's have fun!
Also figured I'd try something different - prompts mixed with other artists'/writers' works! Fanfic + Febuwhump :D
@skyward-floored, surprise! This is based on your story A Royal Castletown Wedding.
The spell had been broken. Seeing her had been like finding water in the desert. His brothers had been beaming. Their love had destroyed that hag's darkness.
It had all been like a fairytale.
Warriors instead felt like he was trapped in a nightmare.
Or, perhaps, he felt like he was still in the nightmare that had actually happened.
Cia had nearly taken him, mind, body, and soul, and he'd been completely helpless. Despite a few days passing, he still felt ill at ease, like if he blinked Artemis would have that possessive smirk again, like he was still trapped under Cia's spell.
He'd thought he was fine. He'd thought he could control his reactions to the issue. But the wedding rehearsal... it just reminded him of... even now, he felt utterly helpless, succumbing to the paranoia his mind had contorted itself into, feeling his lungs and heart squeeze with every racing breath. He was paralyzed on the balcony at the moment, tucked away in a corner, away from crowds, away from her.
It's Zelda. She's Zelda and you know it. It isn't Cia.
Somehow the words weren't enough. He was convinced he was going to hide here for the rest of his life, petrified in every way imaginable.
"Link?"
Artemis' voice whispered on the wind, gentle but nervous. He wanted to kick himself. While he had almost been enslaved to Cia, Artemis had almost lost him forever. He knew that had to have hurt her too. And here he was, hiding from her just a day before their wedding.
Despite how he berated himself, though, he couldn't muster up the courage to speak, to let her know where he was. Minutes turned to hours. Soldiers started to patrol the castle in search of him. Yet still, he hid, crouched down with his knees tucked under his chin, managing to disappear between a plant and a bench despite wearing all white in a stony veranda.
"Captain?"
The voice was nearly shrill at first, making Warriors wince. Wind quickly noticed the gesture and grew quieter, crawling under the bench to get to him.
"What's wrong?" Wind asked softly, looking him over. "Are you okay?"
Warriors tried to smile reassuringly. It came out as a grimace.
His little brother watched him carefully, clearly concerned, but there was a semblance of understanding. Once again, the youngest Link was proving his keen sense of observation that he'd been demonstrating his entire stay here. Seeing him made Warriors feel... safe. Safe, because Wind had seen through Cia's lies, and if he was here, then the captain knew it had to be okay.
How pathetic.
Wind shifted to crawl back under the bench and leave. Warriors reached out a hand, whispering, "Please... stay."
The sailor froze, concern turning to grief before a protective love shone on his face. He carefully made his way back to his brother and tucked into his side. "Okay. I'll stay."
And remain he did. Together, the two basked in each other's warmth, and Warriors let the little sailor keep him safe.

"Pick a star on the dark horizon and follow the light. You'll come back when it's over. No need to say goodbye." The Call by Regina Spektor
Fanart for @telemna-hyelle 's fic What You Look At, You Change. Extras and ramblings under the cut!
Aaaa I finally finished this!! According to Ibis paint this took Eight Hours not including the original sketch. But! I had so much fun making it that it didn't really feel that long :)
So first of all, flower symbolism. We've got white and yellow chrysanthemums and white calla lilies. Yellow chrysanthemums represent joy and celebration, so they're here to represent the wedding. White chrysanthemums represent grief and mourning, symbolizing Dot and Four's grief over losing their kids and vice versa. Calla lilies have dualing meanings of life and death and are popular in both wedding AND funeral arrangements!
Speaking of weddings and funerals, the bells are meant to symbolize both since both events are associated with the sound of bells. Pretty obvious but I was giggling to myself when I thought of it lol
Anyways, I'm pretty proud of this! And it was very fun to make
