growing to really fucking despise the 'just google it' attitude towards literally any question on the internet
maybe I want to socialise like a fucking human being sometimes?? maybe I don't want an answer that's force fed through an algorithm or a cold dictionary definition???
maybe I just want a god damn human connection every once in a while why is that becoming so fucking stigmatised as 'lazy'
let yourself be a fucking person in a community for fuck's sake

okay, some of you guys really need to stop equating legality to justice, specially when talking about queer and trans rights. i mean this in the most light heart way possible, but your country having a president that isnt openly queerphobic doesnt mean you do not have to criticize him and hold him accountable for our issues.
im talking about the situation with my country rn, Brazil, we finally elected a better president after 4 years of that jerk, Jair Bolsonaro. he was an awful president, and extremely lgbtqphobic, the saddest thing is how his extreme right views have perpetued into our culture and there are still a lot of people who genuinely believe he was a great president. because of that, i was genuinely happy when our current president, Lula, got elected, he is somewhat left wing, he isnt a openly queerphobic person, so yay, a win for us.
majority of queer folks have voted for him and are still very positive about him, no problem with being positive, the problem is with doing so and not holding him accountable for our rights, specially trans rights. often times i notice cis queer people are way too comfortable to talk about those issues, this isnt good! and when i talk about his issues, i mean a few laws that have been passed by him and his lack of position on favour of queer people. he has passed a law on ID cards that is quite awful for trans people, and can even put then in dangerous situations, now IDs need to have the sex of a person and not only that but a social name, so, now a trans person has to ressort to putting a social name on their ID and their deadname will still be there. this is not helpful. he also passed a law against the use of gender neutral pronouns in schools, against teaching them, which is weird af. teaching those things can actually be so helpful for students to learn diversity, and it does no harm but to teach, thats why we have portuguese class.
i dont think lula has made the country better for queer people, not yet, for now we really need to hold him accountable. it is awesome to not have a extreme right president who clearly wanted us to go back to 64, but lula isnt perfect and has a lot of issues. ive been thinking a lot about that specially since a video i saw from a trans content creator i follow, It wasnt specifically about this issues but they were answearing a commentary from a cis follower. the person was talking about how he was upset that a trans woman that he knows didnt vote for either lula or bolsonaro, they tried to convice her but she didnt listen and they basically said they were sad that she as a trans women didnt vote to preserve their democracy. then, the content creator i follow -he is pretty cool i will name him here later for any person who speaks portuguese and may be interested: @mathvidalrosa on insta- said something that made me reflect on my views also, he talked about this so called democracy, and how it doesnt feel that way for many trans folks because their identities are marginalized and the legal system doesnt truly cares for them, their lives are at risk and this democracy doesnt care for them. really puts a question about privilege and which issues you plan on talking about, yes homophobia and transphobia is a recurring issue in our culture, but will we rely on the legal system or actually protest against those things?

What Bolsonaro did to Brazil's flag is absolutely unforgivable.
Honestly, before this all happened, I thought that our flag was the prettiest one out of all. Every other flag uses that oversaturated red or blue, which makes my eyes bleed. But instead we had a pretty colour palette, with a bunch of different meanings, and the night sky's constellations representing not only nature, but us as well.
Then this fucker comes in and turns it into a symbol of hate. Whenever I see flags at a shop, I can't help but wonder "is this for the cup or is this fascist?".
I really hope our flag loses THAT meaning along the way, but I don't really believe it... I feel like the damage has been done.

I AM SPIRILINGGGGG so it’s time for a quick rant
First of all, I am glad my friend rather get her vote nulled than actually vote for the one who shall not be named
Still extremely disappointed with my family members in Brazil for supporting homophobia, racist takes, and borderline Nazi shit.
I hope he is doing well, breaking up with a significant other at a festival must be awful
I can’t seem to find motivation to be productive, I need to focus on my long term goals asap
I am excited for tomorrow but kinda worried about being alone at the same time. Something about going to LA isolo always makes me anxious

The weird radical/revolutionary politic larpers on this site are so allergic to political pragmatism I swear lmao. I am definitely left of the Democratic Party and I am certainly voting for Joe Biden in November. Not because I like him (I don’t). He is absolutely horrific on Gaza and that’s only the top (and priority considering there is a genocide going on there) of a list of complaints I have about him. I even voted uncommitted in my state’s presidential primary (the Pennsylvania one; I had to write it in) to protest. However, I’m still thinking pragmatically. Trump has said things that make me credibly think he will be worse on Gaza (insane that being worse on Gaza than Biden is possible but it is unfortunately), and that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Project 2025, the potential for him to appoint more deeply conservative justices, more of his aggressively screwing over poor and middle class people with his tax policies. And does anyone else remember the spike in hate crimes after the race was called for him in 2016? Before he was even inaugurated? Whether people vote or not in November we will still have to deal with one of these two men in office come January unless all of the internet ancom larpers overthrow the government by then (doubt), so I’d rather deal with the one who will be marginally less bad and who didn’t try to overthrow the government. Can’t have your revolution if nobody’s alive cause you kept pushing off politically participating because there was no perfect option. 👍
Political pragmatist anon, sorry for ranting in your askbox but I feel like I lose brain cells watching these people talk. The other day I saw someone say Biden is bad because Roe v. Wade fell under his administration… even though the reason for that was Trump appointed justices. 💀 (2/2)
Fucking insane. Sincerely.
It's a completely, flatly binary choice for anyone with a brain stem and sincerity. It's distilled into the two below images:
Where all major third party candidates are even on the ballot
Tumblr media
How many electoral votes the largest of those (green party, a.k.a. Jill Stein) would win if they won every single state they're on the ballot for.
Tumblr media
They are literally, legally, incapable of winning the election. They are not on enough state ballots to win and Jill Stein would need to somehow win California and Texas to even "win" all the states they're on the ballot for. Which, again, would still not be enough to win the presidency and throw it to the currently existing Republican House of Representatives. Which would put Trump in office.
It's that straightforward. That simple. That BLARINGLY obvious to literally everyone except these people.
On the one hand you have:
Significant and continuous support for Israel and it's genocide
Record levels of pardons for low-level drug offenses
the gearing up of the strongest anti-trust regime since the early 20th century
the most aggressive NLRB I've seen in my lifetime, with massive wins and institutional changes to help workers
Including getting Rail strike workers a week of sick-leave that gets paid out at the end of the year, which is better than NYC and LA sick leave laws
Millions of people (not enough) getting student debt forgiveness
Some trillion dollars (not enough)of investment in renewable resources and infrastructure
Proposed taxes on unrealized capital gains (a.k.a. how billionaires never have any money but can still buy Kentucky, Iowa, and Twitter)
Effectively an end to overdraft fees
The explicit support of leftist world leaders like Lula de Silva. Who he has explicitly worked with to expand worker rights in South America.
Has capped (some, not enough, only a tiny amount really but it's something) some drug prices, including Insulin.
Reduced disability discrimination in medical treatment
Billions in additional national pre-k funding
Ending federal use of private prisons
Pushing bills to raise Social Security tax thresholds higher to help secure the General Fund
Increasing SSI benefits
and more
vs
Said Israel should just nuke Gaza and "get it over with"
Personally takes pride in and credit for getting Roe v Wade overturned
Is arguing in court that the President should be allowed to assassinate political rivals
Muslim Ban Bullshit, insistently
Actively damages our global standing and diplomatic efforts just by getting obsessed with having a Big Button
Implemented massive tax cuts on ich people, tax hikes on middle class and poor people, and actively wants to do it again
"Only wants to be a dictator for a little bit, guys, what's the big deal"
Is loudly publicly arguing that the US shouldn't honor its military alliances after-the-fact
Tore up an effective and substantial anti-nuclear-proliferation treaty with Iran
Had a DoEd that actively just refused to process student debt forgiveness applications that have been the law of the land for decades now
Has a long record of actively curtailing and weakening the NLRB and labor movement, including allowing managers to retaliate against workers, weakened workplace accommodation requirements for disabled people, and more
Rubber stamped a number of massive mergers building larger, more powerful top companies and increasing monopolistic practices
Fucking COVID Bullshit and hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths
Openly supporting fascists and wannabe-bootlicks ("Very fine people" being only the beginning of it
It's really not fucking close.

As we get closer to the finale of the Bad Batch, I'd like to post something that's been in my head for a while.
I want to take an in-dept look at the theme of the show and how I think that shapes the ending.
Firstly, we'll need to look at the theme of the show.
The Bad Batch is a story about a group of rogue clones who must survive the rise of the Empire. Okay, that's what happens, but that's not the theme.
The theme is what the story is about. The lesson you want your audience to walk away with. It is the singular thing that shapes the character arcs and choices, from the protagonists to the antagonists.
I would argue that the theme of the Bad Batch is, "Our strength comes from our individuality and differences" and "We need to make our own choices and let people make their own choices; blind allegiance is the downfall of us all." There's also an ongoing argument about loyalty, but that's a different rant.
From the beginning, it's all been about individuality, and how stripping that away is wrong. The inhibitor chips was the first overarching plot device to further this argument.
The chips take away the individuality of the clones by making them a part of a monolithic hivemind. Gone are the individuals who fought with the Jedi, and in came the Empire. The sterile, uniform Empire where individuality and free thought is treated as dangerous and treacherous.
Our heroes, the titular Bad Batch, retain their individuality and differences and disobedient streak and are celebrated as a virtue, and, for the most part, do not fall into the trappings of becoming the monolith.
Now let's talk about Crosshair, specifically.
Crosshair, however different, fell into the Empire, thinking he was going to be heralded as better and superior than the other clones. His choice to stay with the Empire was a choice at first, but even when it was, this was treated as bad in the narration. Even if it was his choice, he came to ultimate realization that... no, he's not different than the other clones in the eyes of the Empire. He's not treated different or better. He's a number. He's cannon fodder. His blind allegiance almost led to his death (not for the first time (Bracca, anyone?)). It led to Mayday's death as they both realized too late: "We were good soldiers. We followed orders. And for what?"
So the first choice Crosshair makes for himself? The first free choice that he makes that contradicts the blind allegiance?
He shoots the Lieutenant.
And it was great! Narratively, it was treated as the right move because it was!
Okay, it lands him in Tantiss, but through that series of events, it eventually brought him back to his family. He was redeemed.
Moving on, let's look at another interesting character.
Emerie (beloved)
Dr. Emerie Karr, I would argue, is a woman who never had a choice.
I mean, how could she? Shipped off of Kamino, into the clutches of Hemlock?
Look me in the eyes and tell me that you think Hemlock (derogatory) was an affectionate father-figure to Emerie. Yeah, that's what I thought.
Emerie never had a choice. She was not in the battlefield or even with other clones to learn what her free thoughts were. I would argue she was raised to be afraid of the consequences of what Hemlock would do to her if she stepped "out of line" wherever that was when growing up.
She's constantly warning other clones what happens if they don't cooperate with Hemlock. She's constantly held back by her inability to think for herself.
Until Omega.
Time and time again, Emerie regards Omega as her sister in what way she can, in what little vocabulary she has for such a meaning.
Because Omega, Emerie breaks protocol, just in the little way she can, and returns the straw Lula to her. We see the beginnings of the Imperial bonds start to loosen. It's the first crack in the mirror, so to say, when Omega shows her what it could really be like, to have siblings to love, instead of whatever validation she fights to earn from Hemlock. (There's more on that, but again, another rant, another time.)
It keeps going for Emerie, when she's let into the Vault, all coming to a head when she meets Echo.
"I didn't have a choice," she says. "I've heard that before," he retorts, disbelieving.
She has a choice now, is what's not being said. Do the right thing, make a choice, for once in your life. Don't go along with what the doctor wants.
.
So, what's all this to say?
The ending of the Bad Batch will be dictated by the themes of individuality and free will.
It will all come down to a choice.
Omega, the protagonist, will have to make a choice.
Over this season, in Point of No Return especially, Omega sees how relentlessly the Empire hunts for her. Willing to do anything to get there hands on her.
It's this injustice that makes her angry. She can not let people suffer for her sake.
She won't let her brothers get hurt for her sake.
This drives home the foreshadowing of The Harbinger.
How Ventress warns Crosshair and Hunter, that if Omega was Force-Sensitive, she'd need to leave them to be properly trained.
When Ventress tamed a giant beast with the Force.
I know I'm not alone when I say that I think this will work with Omega's recent discovery of the Zillo Beast, in foreshadowing her and the other kids in the Vault using the Force to "reach out" (which Omega couldn't do with the distraction of her brothers) and tame the beast into wrecking the base and eating Hemlock.
With this discovery of abilities, and newfound charge over these young kids, Omega will be faced with a choice.
Stay with the Batch, or leave for them?

Episode 5 - Rants!
Okay, so, first off WHAT AN AMAZING EPISODE!
Putting spoilers below the cut just in case, and this is gonna be way out of order, but my brain is still firing on all cylinders lol.
So first off - Echo!
Our baby is back! And he is taking no shit which is just perfect. His reaction to Crosshair is interesting though. I imagine, with him having been with the 501st and around Jedi, he may well have heard 'the stories' about Jedi falling to the Dark Side and being welcomed back. He's also probably heard about Slick from Rex, and seeing other clones turn on the empire despite being loyal, he is likely more sympathetic towards Crosshair than the others.
The 'What, no hug for me?' did have me cackling though. Such snark, such sass. Cross and Echo are underrated as friends, honestly.
Omega on Pabu. That opening was so lovely, her cuddled up with Lula and being so happy! And I LOVE how when she leaves to find Crosshair, Wrecker and Hunter have an entire conversation just through facial expressions. They've been through so much together, they can read each other better than ever, and it's wonderful.
Crosshair and AZ! I love how much that little droid wants to help. Crosshair's line about Lyanna and Shep's ability to find him being 'uncanny' also made me smile. Shep is just a homing missile of care, and of course his daughter is going to be the same!
Him explaining sniping to Omega as well, her just being a sponge of information must remind him of Tech at least a little. Then Wrecker and Hunter peeking over the rocks. Sorry, had to laugh!
Wrecker telling Hunter that if Omega trusts Crosshair, that's enough for him. YES! He's not letting things go, but he's giving it a chance, unlike Mr Face Tattoo Grumpy Pants.
ANOTHER WHISTLE!!!!
Echo hug, and that is just wonderful. Not long enough, but hey, Echo's always been straight down to business.
Batcher's relationship with the moon-yos is also beautiful, them asleep on her by the table is just lovely!
The dining table scene, Tech mention, heartbreaking, but it shows there is still a void there. They're all aware, and all working to fill it, but it's still gaping and raw.
As soon as Crosshair said he knew an outpost, I was like, NO, THEY'RE GOING BACK TO BARTON IV *crying*
Then Wrecker giving him back the armour and the way Crosshair's eyes WIDEN when he sees it. Just UUUUUGH!
The 'little brother' moment and the chuckle made my heart SING. These two are just peak sibling and I AM HERE FOR IT!
And man, did I ever want them to turn up and Mayday be there, alive and having survived thanks to Crosshair and telling them all what he did and how amazing he was.
Sadly no :(
But Mayday's helmet, and Crosshair making a memorial to him with the rest of his squad beside him as well, it shows real growth, and THE MUSIC! Ooof!
Hunter being all side-eye-y by the door, what a dramatic bitch lol
Echo and Omega work so well together, and the tension between Crosshair and Hunter is ridiculous. Just fight already! And make it a good one!
So close, but Mama Echo stopped it lol
The entire scene with the wyrm was wonderful, from the beginning argument (I could write an entire novel on how much I love Crosshair calling Hunter out on his BS in a way no-one else does) and Hunter being an angry boi.
But the innate trust that comes out as soon as Hunter falls in that hole.
Also... 'HUNTER!!!!!' :')
The nods at the end, then loading onto the ship. I REALLY wanted Crosshair to tell Hunter about Mayday, that he shot the officer for a Reg, because they refused to help him. I wanted him to tell him how he was tortured, how he kept them safe.
I only hope Echo goes through the medical records and finds what they did to Crosshair, shows it to Hunter and they finally get a bit more understanding.
Overall, it was AMAZING!
My only gripe is with the perimeter - Hunter has enhanced senses but it seems like they write him like he can turn them on and off lol. If it's high pitched enough to keep the wyrm away AND bother Batcher, he's sure as hell going to be hearing it, helmet or not! And it wouldn't be pleasant!
But no, he has to look through his helmet to pick it up? Yeah, I call BS on that :P
But considering that is the only complaint I really have, 9.9/10!

Ok Sideshow Bob fans, I need some opinions. I’m going to do a few polls on aspects of Sideshow Bob episodes. If you would be so kind as to vote, I would greatly appreciate it. I intend to rant, argue with, give my thoughts on the results later.
This post is about Sideshow Bob’s best song. Was it beautiful, or funny, fitting, memorable? It's ok if the visuals affect your choice. (costumes, setting, importance to scene) If I did not include your true favorite, please cast your vote in the comments. If you care to comment to try and make your case for any option, feel free n_n

You know how "people outside of their family" not being real, is a recurring theme in Succession? Well, I'd find it really interesting how their stories are perceived by these "outsiders". Think of the spa workers in ABOI, or the bartender in AQAP. Or those ones that have more contact with them, like their drivers, personal assistants, Mencken's personal assistant in the Arranged Marriage AU booking hotel suites under aliases, or sending flowers, the help at Matsson's house in Sweden, or his lawyer drafting NDAs. How, in a way, they have become these unsung support system for these romances.
this is insane- thank u so much because i’ve never thought about this before!!
i feel like many of the readers are just so in their heads (which maybe comes from me projecting myself onto them lol) that they don’t really notice the people outside of their own little bubbles. and to be fair a lot of that is from their upbringings and social circles, but even readers that are more socially aware still tend to be a bit self centered. we don’t get much information about how outside people react to their relationships, and it would definitely be interesting to see things from their perspectives.
the bartender in aqap seeing the way that mencken and reader slowly inch closer over time. the spa staff being so confused on what this man who they see ranting on twitter, and this woman who’s paparazzi photos they see in magazines , are doing together. and even further than that, the way that personal assistants and lawyers and business partners quietly help build these relationships. not getting too involved, just doing what they’re asked and watching as things begin to unfold in front of them.
i really wonder if they would see the relationships in the same light as the readers or if it’s totally different from their point of view. like aboi reader (currently) sees their relationship as something relatively healthy and normal despite the long difference. but maybe lukas’s personal assistant sees it as a power play or tactic from lulas, and feels bad for reader.
saying “no real person involved” would be completely false, because the small interactions from these outside sources are integral to how these relationships develop, even if those in the relationship don’t notice it.
