Lulu's antennas twitched at the sound of the clinking of bones. It was coupled with a tiny voice panting and calling for help.
Lulu got up from where she was tending her axolotls and lumbered toward the sounds. A flutter of wings whizzed past her.
She could hear the skeleton's footsteps approaching. It only took a single swipe from her massive claws to send the bones scattering across the cave floor.
After the skeleton was beaten, Lulu listened for whoever it had been chasing. She could hear that this newcomer had wings and was somewhat small, but they didn't smell like an allay or a vex.
"Don't worry I won't hurt you," Lulu assured, "I'm Lulu."
"Thank you for saving Nom, Lulu!" the flying creature said, "Nom's name is Nom!"
Shuffling movement stirring just outside of the cave entrance momentarily drew Wretched’s attention away from his meal. He’d a feeling that was Geode, and a couple of whiffs confirmed it. Normally, even timidly approaching a hungry Warden while he was tucking into a tasty treat was an awful idea, however it was obvious by now that Wretched did not consider Geode any sort of threat. In fact, Wretched tended to his elderly companion like a bull would his doe- minus the tenderness.
Following the pause was a beastly chuff expelled with force, then he began to further shred the tree. As much as he desired to devour this entire hive all by himself, Geode could use it more.
“Well, come on, then, you old heifer. There’s plenty’a honeycomb left in there.” He’d even peeled more of the tree away so that the other could gain easier access. No act of kindness could go without that sprinkle of spice though, of course. After moving out of the way a bit, Wretched busied himself by trying to cleanse the scattered bits of wax, bark, and honey slathered across his fur. He’d go crazy if he didn’t get this off of him soon.
Lulu began to feel around the wall of deepslate behind where she had fallen, but there were no footholds. Her claws touched only smooth stone. Lulu tried to move quietly through the layer of fallen gravel as quietly as she could. Even the softest footsteps were noticeable to a warden, though.
Something squished loudly under Lulu's heavy foot and she realized it was one of the glowberries that she pulled down earlier. The juice smelled sweet and could have been noticed by a clueless miner, let alone a warden.
Her antennas clicked at the sound of a low whine and approaching heartbeat.
It was too late to get out of this cavern unnoticed. The scent of an unfamiliar warden became stronger as whoever this was drew nearer.
Lulu did not want to fight, especially on someone else's territory, but she would if absolutely necessary.
She whined softly to let the approaching warden know she wasn't there to fight, as if to say:
I cannot believe they made their own version out of this film. The meadow run trope. Two lovers running on the beach. You have Ao Isami as Deborah Kerr’s character Karen Holmes and Bravern as Burt Lancaster (Sgt. Milton Warden). And Lulu has to witness the coupling.
The happy couple finally consummated their love, strengthening their bonds (the bonfire experience: hopping over the flame), the calm music in the background.
It is so romantic it belies the cruelty on the second half of the 11th episode.
Lilith Clawthorne was, admittedly, one of the easiest to work with of the Boiling Isles' elite. A staunch perfectionist, but with reasonable expectations for her subordinates and a willingness to act cordial, if not particularly friendly, with the scouts under her command. It was certainly better than dealing with Kikimora's self-centeredness or the Warden's ill temper.
But there was something in Lilith's eyes that evening, a sharp icy edge that made the scouts look at the floor. None of the guards had ever received worse than a passive-aggressive quip from her, but nobody wanted to take their chances. So all was silent until she crossed the hallway and closed the door behind her, and then for a long moment after.
For what it was worth, Lilith didn't give the scouts a second glance. She was so deep in her own thoughts that she barely even noticed them.
Preview of my entry for @afemmesofatal, a free multifandom horror zine! Though, as you can tell, the definition of ‘horror’ was wide enough that I got to write about everyone’s favorite recovering cult member, Ms. Lulu Lilith Clawthorne!
The zine gets released to download on Valentine’s Day, so keep your eyes peeled!
🚫what is one thing my muse wouldn’t want someone else to know about them?
Anyone you feel like answering for~
There is a trigger warning below do you two mentions of suicide... But this is for a fictional character...
For Mason, that would be his deal with a higher being to 'basically' reset the timeline to save someone he met only the day before. He feels like a coward in doing so and wonders how life would continue if he didn't take the deal.... If he could have lived if he let her die...
TW: suicide mention... (Finally mentioning this, this will be the only mention of this one scar...)
For Jay, when he was very young... He was considering taking his own life due to his father's disappointment in him... Smith walked in on him as he did it and was able to stop the bleeding right after Jay cut himself. Smith called for Jay's mom and she showed that for a nitwit villager, she knew more than she let on... This was the only time Jay attempted this and has never tried again, always taking on a smile learning that life is too short to focus on what others say about you especially if you don't really care about that person (Jay was never fond of his father in the first place)... However, all his other scars he has are accidents of him attempting to either fly, run from wolves, or in general being a klutz... This is the only self inflicted scar he really regrets...
For Smith, it was not seeing the signs sooner... He could have prevented that from happening if he just knew...
And finally... Orchid.
For some reason... Golden carrots, glistening melons, and golden apples seem to have an opposite effect on her... Rather than healing her they make her incredibly sick... Golden carrots adding the effect of blindness instead of enhanced vision/night vision. All of these items that she creates actually have additional benefits for others but if she were to take them she would be greatly ill... Which means taking God apples could literally utterly possibly KILL her...
She believes it might (more than likely) be a gold allergy but she can touch fine gold without having any side effects.... Luckily potions do not have the same effect and she can use potions of healing to cure lots of ailments...
But just because she cannot take God Apples to heal herself, does not mean she can't share them with others...
And you thought I was going to say "Orchid does not want people to know she can make God Apples." Didn't ya...
Lulu: Lulu is kind of like a dog and a cat before bed. She will scratch and knead her nest meticulously and circle around several times before curling up and falling asleep.
Geode: Geode likes to write (their version of Braille) stories or make things before bed. On a good day, he'll get a good soak in the hot spring along with some grooming. On a very tiring day, he just falls asleep sitting in his workshop.
Timothy: before bed, Timothy will remove his prosthetic wings and brew a cup of floral tea. He'll get some reading in and then sleep in his hammock.
Dr. Tesser: she has a lot of trouble sleeping, so she will make tea as well, but it has some medicine in it. She has a lot of nightmares, so she tries to do something lighthearted and pleasant before bed, too.
Terry: they document all the observations and work they did during the day, per Solaryan's instructions, then pass out...typically underground of in that good ol' greentop dirt house.
-had a stressful start to the day, which involved talking to cops and the county dog warden about a dog that was left in a car overnight in front of my coffee shop, but once that was sorted Jules & I went to our friend's restaurant to say hello and then stopped by the downtown library to pick up some books I placed on hold
-went for a tramp around a farm w/ Lulu&Jules and some friends
-cooked dinner and showed up as big time moral support for a very upset H
So here’s the WIP project I was talking about, or at least the first part of it. Was working on a large height/sheet and subtle personalised redesigns of all the Sin Kid characters I included in my headcanon. While most of them I drew in order, I drew Lupa first specifically because she’s ultimately the main character, and probably the only one with white hair in my headcanon.
Following that, we have Lani, Lulu, Lizy, Katie, Bed, BJ, Leia, Gwen, and Marsha. More to follow in about an hour (or 12, if this is posted at my 6pm).
Lulu felt relieved when the other warden said he meant no harm. Now, instead of being anxious, she felt a little excited. She couldnt even remember the last time she met another warden.
Lulu explained with another low whine,
Yes, I was looking for food and the ground collapsed.
She shuffled around the scattered gravel and listened closely to echoes she and the other warden made to become familiar with the new surroundings.
My name is Lulu. I live up in the lush cave above.
Lulu bent down to feel for the vine of glow berries. Were any intact or did they all get crushed?
As she bent down, a sharp pain shot through her right arm. She let out a short pained cry and stood back up.
Lulu felt with her other hand and found a sharp flint embedded in her arm, certainly from the gravel. The fur around it was a little sticky from the blood. It wasn't a debilitating injury, in fact it wasn't even as bad as a miner's arrow. It would take a lot more than a flint to truly hurt a warden.
Lulu grumbled as she pulled out the flint and began to lick the wound.
so I have just finish receiving a commission from @thewolfmaria and I had the honor to give it the color it needed! I’m gushing at every single detail in this and it feels like a smash roster, EVERYONE’S HERE!!
