sam’s first statement about the institute seems like a warning at first, but i think that was a red herring. it was actually a lure, something to get him curious enough to start researching

the second institute statement supports this - as soon as sam says they’ve ran out of leads, chester drops enough information to nudge him forward (and even rope alice into helping)

there’s also the fact that statements were able to be archived digitally. in the previous universe, the web needed the archivist to use tape recorders for the ritual, but that’s no longer necessary. we also know how deep the connection between the internet and the web is, so it makes sense that a web-scrapping software would be similarly intertwined

it also makes colin’s breakdown even more suspicious. “jon” sent an email to sam knowing he would take it to IT, as you do with possible phishing. we can assume there wasn’t anything off with the content of the email, just the address, so what’s the point of sending it? other than to get rid of colin

Update!

Decided we’d have to do no flow or all the flow so I added some extra fins. Idk how I feel about them, they’re a little clunky here which might be why I don’t like them much rn… we’ll see if they stay. Luring fish in when you’re at least ten times the size of them can be difficult to keep out of their way, so the extra fins and such are meant to mimic seaweed. This is in case other fish run into his massive tail in the dark, they won’t think much of it. The extra fins are there to make that more convincing.

The lights along the sides of his tail can be controlled independently from the one on his head, and are used mostly for communication purposes.

Sometimes I feel like people's ability to read has decreased rather drastically as of late. I have two signs in my shop, both written by me personally, and in my best calligraphy, that i couldn’t have made any more obvious.

I folded and made other swarms (even if Tuuya only gets along with Gallen and Contrast’s Helixe) and I made other Varzims, but Arty is the only one of its kind and the only one there ever will be.

It doesn’t feel lonely from that, but it does know the only people it has anything in common with (helms, cyborgs, etc) still are very different from it.
