@man--eater tagged me in her WIP Wednesday extravaganza, so I guess I'm posting about my Stolitz Fingersmith AU for the first time. Wherein they are both seventeen, and Blitzo has taken a job as an accomplice to a con artist- to become a young prince's valet and convince him to elope with the con.
Blitzo swallowed, very hard, and abruptly tried to bow for the first time since he’d stopped performing. It was a reflex to make it grandiose, to sweep out his arms and make it huge, but ah fuck the water. He caught it just in time, trying to just bend a bit at the shoulders. “Uh, your- Highness,” he half-guessed. Was that right? Striker warned him that one of them meant the prince and one was the king and getting them messed up was bad. “I’m the new, uh. Valet. The Count sent me.” Calling Striker a Count felt fucking ridiculous. Asshole. He straightened, and checked for the prince’s response. The birdlike face was unreadable, but he blinked all four of his bright red eyes at slightly different times. Creepy. The house creaked in the unbearable silence. How did these people live without any city sounds at all? “Brought this up for you,” Blitzo managed, twirling the drugged water almost elegantly. It splashed up onto his hand, and he didn’t flinch, but it was a near thing- the dress code in this place wouldn’t have allowed his gloves, so he kept his sleeves pulled down as long as possible to cover the scarring. “Reginald said you take it at night? Whenever you’re ready, I guess.” Prince Stolas tilted his head to the side, and shut his book. The noise was quiet and final in the still air. He brushed his crest of feathers back from his eyes, set the book down, and stretched until he stood, every movement haughty and debonair. He must have been at least ten feet fucking tall; Blitzo wanted to kneecap him immediately. He walked with long, even strides, barely blinking. A few steps in front of Blitzo, he leaned down, tilted his head again. Reached out his hand, sheathed in an elegant, pearl-buttoned glove, and perched his slim fingers on the glass. Then he plucked it out of Blitzo’s grip and hurled it at the wall.
Blitzo shouted, covering his head involuntarily; the drugged water left a spreading stain on the gorgeous golden wallpaper. The glass itself was in shards all over the hardwood floor. Prince Stolas stood up tall, turned around, and flounced back to his divan, his long tail brushing Blitzo’s shoulder as he went. He picked up his book, and sat back down to read.
Tagging @blitzwhore @hazbin-helluva-itch and @nyxofdemons (HI I see you in my notes I want to be friends) and @gloriousmonsters; plus @miss-spooky-eyes, who does not know what Helluva Boss is yet, but who loves Fingersmith absolutely to death and trusts me (unfortunately) to write just about anything.

reasons why shadows house peaked in chapter 159:
if you list the main characters of the chapter it sounds like they were picked via randomizer
oliver and ollie explaining their new invention as if they're selling the product in one of those sales channels on tv
✨rum ✨
all the robe sama arc references
lydia clearly did not need an erlenmeyer frask to use her powers but she brought one anyways
the panel where rum's trying to decide who to speak to + the fact that she still describes oliver as a suspicious person even though he literally just saved her is gold
patrick and ricky finishing each other's sentences
the margaret reveal???
lydia canonically saying fuck

From The Testaments by Margaret Atwood

"The inventor of the mirror did few of us any favours: we must have been happier before we knew what we looked like." -pg. 31
"All that was necessary was a law degree and a uterus: a lethal combination." -pg. 144
"You'd be surprised how quickly the mind goes soggy in the absence of other people. One person alone is not a full person: we exist in relation to others." -pg. 148
"The muscles of my face were beginning to hurt. Under some conditions, smiling is a workout." -pg. 178
"I would destroy these pages I have written so laboriously; and I would destroy you along with them, my future reader. One flare of match and you'll be gone- wiped away as if you had never been, as if you will never be. I would deny you existence." -pg. 318

After a whirlwind of emotions in and out of the story, YCYSC is finally finished. I am so glad I even managed it because it was the most angsty thing I’ve written to date and the longest multi chapter fic I’ve written. This definitely isn’t the last you’ll see of Lydia, I still have plenty of AU’s to throw her in (and then there’s also Mama’s Boy). This also isn’t the last you’ll see of soft!Margaret (Danny, and now that the fic is complete I can finally call her her headcanoned name) because fuck I love writing her that way even if I adore how she is in canon. One thing you probably won’t see again from me is psychotic!Maxim but I did LOVE exploring the idea of him basically filling Rebecca’s role and becoming just as terrible a person as she was.
Plenty more fics to come, so many ideas and so little time ;)

not a fan of the “Charles and Charlotte are secretly biologically related” headcanon myself
but I indulge in the “Charles and Charlotte were kind of raised together at some point and Lydia would’ve dressed them in matching outfits and stuff” headcanon bc it’s cute and twisted and she’d eat that shit UP
I think Lydia probably suggested the name Charlotte anyway, and she would’ve been super nice to Margaret while she’s pregnant as a way to throw her off. Like calm before the storm.
And raising Charlotte kind of like her own in order to use her as leverage in case Margaret and Nancy were going against her.
Or all else fails, Margaret leaves the house with a little baby Charlotte who misses it, her “brother” but not quite, and old Miss Lydia comforting her.
(I do think Lydia is capable of love and genuinely loved or felt motherly affection for Charlotte… but that’s obviously not mutually exclusive with her desire to control everyone in her circle.)

something that makes me feel some kinda way: charlotte resenting her mother, particularly early on in the show, for the way that she favoured lucy growing up and was much more protective of her instead of "having her out at twelve" like she did with charlotte as the eldest, and the way that she is a lil jealous of the more secure/happy life lucy has early on within the safety of the family unit at greek street with margaret & william ( even though, don't get me wrong, she loves her sister dearly ), contrasted to lucy who struggles early on with living up to the wells woman reputation that charlotte has trailblazed as a courtesan and very much imitating her or at least using her as a frame of reference for the sort of woman she needs to be to endure the world later down the line once we get to s3

Joan d'arc because of course, Saint Nicolas (source of one of my favorite Saint trivias), My Girl Margaret of Scotland, St. Sebastian if he hasn't been recced already because of his gay penetration moments, Saint Martha (Tarrasque tamer), Mary Magdalene (because she deserves better), St. Olga (gotta stan a homidical queen) Lydia of Thyatira (I'm a girlboss Lydia truther), and St. Paul I guess
I'm not Catholic but I had some based pastors and Sunday School teachers who talked about some of the various saints and I have opinions about some of the women in the Bible. Also she's not a saint but shoutout to my girl Jael.
Votes added for St Joan of Arc, St Nicholas, St Sebastian, St Martha, St Mary Magdalene, and St Olga!
NEW entries created for St Margaret of Scotland, St Lydia, and St Paul (WHO I CANNOT BELIEVE DIDN'T HAVE A SINGLE VOTE UNTIL NOW). If you want these three to make it to a bracket, you'll need to send in votes and propaganda!
Also for those wondering about St. Sebastian and his connection as an LGBTQ+ icon, read this.

The Handmaid’s Tale S5 E9 Allegiance
Spoilers, duh (for the show and the book sequel The Testaments)
I fucking knew it. I knew it wouldn’t work. Ahhhhhhh I had the tiniest bit of hope but I knew, of course I knew, it couldn’t be that easy to get Hannah back.
But she remembers her name. 🥺 That’s a big deal. Who knows what else she remembers. Brainwashing and religious conditioning and abuse are monstrous drugs.
I really want more of Hannah. I want to hear her speak. I want to see her with the other girls. I want to know her thoughts.
Maybe they really are sticking with the plot in The Testaments. A couple differences here and there, sure. Does that mean we can get more flashbacks with Aunt Lydia? Please?! It will absolutely wreck me and I need it. I want to see the complexity. I want to see another ugly, dark, horrific side of Gilead that makes people *question* everything they thought about Gilead because god damn it, I did, when I read the sequel. Ok, maybe not everything. But Aunt Lydia? Oh yeah.
