Sailor the Teddy Bear

Sailor the teddy bear's person wrote a month or so ago. Sailor himself was in pretty good shape, except for some small eye issues, but his clothes had worn to the point that she wanted them replaced, and she figured he should enjoy a spa while he was in California as well.

Here isSailor's diagnosis photo:

Now the eye issue which isn't quite clear, is his eyes were a bit off kilter. When he came to the hospital and was getting prepped for his spa, I found the reason -- the post of his right eye (left in the photo) was broken off inside and his eye had been glued into place. Fortunately, as you'll see, we were able to restore his vision to 20/20.

Also, in addition to a new outfit for Sailor, his person was hoping for one of those sailor cape/collars to go over his shoulders, matching the color of his pants and hat. He was to keep his original hat, but the trim at the back needed a bit of repair.

And finally, here's Sailor all better and ready to fly home! A few things to note about his new clothes --- the shirt and pants are one piece, just like the original. They close with a snap at the top, but have a decorative button where the snap is, that matches the small striped area on the front of his shirt. His new collar/cape is removable as well. You can also see the chubbiness testing photo, where I'm poking his belly (I don't show this usually). This is where his person had the chance to add feedback to adjust his stuffing if needed.

Sailor's person approved and he flew home to Michigan. BTW, he flew both ways with an airtag in his box, so his person knew exactly where he was at all times. The funniest thing with airtag patients is the air tag makes a jingly sound when it moves, so every time I move an air tag patient's bed, I have to remind myself that they don't have internal bells, that's their tracker. :-)

Anyway, Sailor made it home safe and sound and his person wrote:

“We might uh, um turn! Turn! Turn!” Peter P. said as the ship ran into a demolished building, causing the whole thing to shake.

“Oh Lord.” I mumbled under my breath forcing a piece of metal to lower itself in front of me and steadying myself. Peter P. grunted as we crashed onto the ground, Stephen doing his best to steady us.

The ship came to a stop and I took a breath of relief, letting go of the metal as Peter P. hung upside down on his web.

“Let me just say, if aliens wind up implanting eggs in my chest or something and I eat one of you, I’m sorry.”

I shook my head with a laugh.

“I do not want another single pop culture reference out of you for the rest of the trip, you understand?”

“Uh, he’s just trying to tell us someone is coming.” I warned and Peter P. nodded.

“Thank you, Y/n.” He thanked me as a little metal ball rolled in between us. In just a moment it exploded, sending us backwards. I grunted as I hit the ground and looked up to see two red eyes coming in from the fog, followed by silhouettes of other people.

A big one yelled and threw knives at Stephen, who blocked them with his shield, making the man scream in anger before getting tackled by Cape. The one with red eyes began shooting while flying up in the air, Tony following after him, his mask now on. Tony shot a blast at the guy who dodged it but ran into a piece of metal I placed next to him.

“Ah!” I heard Peter P. screech and I looked to him to see an alien girl leaning over him, her tendrils glowing. “Woah woah woah, please don’t put your eggs in me!” He shot her with webs causing her to yelp in surprise before the red eyed guy kicked Peter down.

Tony took Capes spot above the man as the guy with red eyes held onto Peter P. from behind, a gun pointed to his head. I held my hands up, hood covering my eyes as metal flew around me, aiming at both the red eyed and the big guy.

“Everybody stay where you are, chill the f out!” He brought his hand up and his mask retracted. I shivered as a sudden wave of familiarity filled my body. Do I know this guy? “I’m gonna ask you this one time, where is Gamora?”

“Yeah, I’ll do you one better!” Tony said as his mask also retracted. “Who’s Gamora?”

“I’ll do you one better, why is Gamora?” The big one said from beneath Tony. I looked at Stephen who looked just as confused as me.

“Tell me where the girl is or I swear to you I’m gonna french fry this little freak.”

“Woah, watch your tone there, man.” I told him, waving the metal in the air. His eyes flashed with something unrecognizable, but I ignored it.

“Let’s do it. Shoot my guy and I’ll blast him! Let’s go!” Tony threatened.

“Do it Quill! I can take it!” The big man said and my stance faltered. Quill?

“No! He can’t take it!” An alien looking girl I didn’t even realize was there yelled.

“She’s right. You can’t.” Stephen said calmly.

“Oh, yeah? You don’t wanna tell me where she is? That’s fine! I’ll kill all four of you and I’ll beat it out of Thanos myself!” He pushed the gun harder against Peter P.’s head. “Starting with you.

“Wait what?” Stephen asked. “All right, let me ask you this one time. What master do you serve?”

I snorted, “What is he supposed to say, Jesus?” I said as red eyes guy said the same thing, just with “I” instead of "he.” He looked at me with wide eyes.

“Woah, weird.” Peter P. mumbled.

“Wait, you’re from Earth?” Tony asked.

“Not from Earth, I’m from Missouri.”

“Hey, that’s where Y/n’s from.” Peter said quietly, but apparently only I heard him as everyone continued talking. 

“Yeah, that’s on Earth, dipshit. What are you hassling us for?”

“Wait, so you’re not with Thanos?” Peter asked shakily.

Red eyed guy looked at Peter P. incredulously, “With Thanos? No, I’m here to kill Thanos. He took our gir- wait, who are you?” 

Peter’s mask retracted. “We’re the Avengers, man.” 

“You’re the ones Thor told us about!” The alien girl said and the red eyes guy looked at me in thought.

“You know Thor?” Tony asked.

“Yeah, tall guy, not that good looking.” Red eyes guy said, not breaking his gaze. “Needed saving.”

“Where is he now?” Stephen asked.

My metal dropped to the floor with a loud bang, making everyone jump.

“Y/n?” Peter P. asked and I lowered my hood, looking straight at red eyes guy with teary eyes.

I walked closer to him, my heart thumping heavily.

“What is it? Y/n?” Tony asked.

“Peter?” I whispered to red eyes guy who stared intently at me.

His eyes widened, “Y/n?” He whispered back.

“They know each other?” Peter P. asked Tony and Stephen who shrugged, just as lost as him.

I laughed in relief and tackled him in a hug, squeezing tightly as a few stray tears left my eyes. It had been years since I had last seen him. We were eight. He disappeared right after his mother died and I never fully recovered. It had been a while, and we were only eight and it was so dumb, but I loved him so much.

“I can’t believe you’re alive.” I said to him quietly, finally letting go to look at him. “What happened to you?”

“I was literally abducted by aliens.” he said and I laughed.

“What’s going on?” Tony asked.

“I know this guy. He’s a good guy.” I told him, not providing an explanation on purpose.

Tony nodded, knowing it was pointless to pry. I would tell him when I was ready.

“Okay, have your little reunion thing, I’m gonna make a plan.” He said and walked off with Stephen. 

“So you’re telling me that after you left you literally joined a superhero team with Captain freaking America?”

I laughed, “You work with a tree! And a racoon!”

“Speaking of, I hope you and Rocket get to meet. I feel like he’d like you.”

“I hope I can meet all of your new friends.”

Peter Q. grabbed my hand, “I’ve really missed you, Y/n. You’re the reason I almost came back to Earth so many times.”

“I’ve missed you too, Peter.” I said and he leaned in slowly. My eyes flickered down to his lips as fast footsteps came towards us.

“Y/n! Help! He’s gonna kill me!” Peter P. said, out of breath as the big guy, who I now know is Drax, ran behind him. I laughed loudly before looking back at Peter Q.

“Sorry, sister from another mister duty calls, Peter Q. Gotta go save my brother.” I said and stood up, quickly pressing a kiss to Peter Q’s cheek before running after Peter P. and Drax.

“I don’t wanna go, I don’t wanna go.” He said over and over and I shushed him through my own tears, gently pushing his hair from his face.

“Shh, it’s gonna be okay, Peter. You’re gonna be okay, alright?” I said and softly hummed him his favorite song. The notes turned into sobs as he disappeared, not paying attention as yet another person I loved disappeared, leaving only Tony, Nebula, and I. All alone.

Sova headcannons with trans-masc reader part 2

Ok time for improvise. In the math class.

If there is a chance to choose his partner for a mission, he will choose you if not anthing specificly needed. He likes your presence near him. It calms him down.

But if you get hurt, he will blame himself. He says he is sorry and its his fault that you got shot with his more fatal wounds while Sage heals both of you. You look him up and down with a brow raised as if you are judging him how he manages to think about you while he is in this situation.

Will make dad jokes just to piss you off.

Normaly he does not laughs at his jokes. Mostly at your reaction. But one time you did a dad joke to him during a mission and he let out a snort. The enemy bullet nearly hit his forehead.

Sage scold you both. Definitely.

Phoenix and Jett insisted to hear the joke and when you told them, even Sage let out a little giggle.

Will make your drink of choice when he goes to the kitchen to get his. Just a form of care.

He will let you make masks on his face if you insist. Even wearing a bunny bandana to keep his hair away. He does get pulled into the "girls night" in the HQ sometimes so he is used to that. (Sova, Omen and Phoenix are one of the girls. Well, i will definately wrote this to an HQ headcannons post.)

If he sees you talking with Chyper, he will get jelaous. Not like he will grab you by your arm and pull you away from him. Its more like he will side eye you both while you two have a conversation.

If Chyper gets tilted by him, after the coversation he will talk to Sova. "You know their 'secrets' right?" "I know them more than you could ever." (Insert the grumpy cat sova picture.)

He will chase you everywhere in the HQ if you steal his cape. This man runs like Usain Bolt with those legs and height of his but he will match your speed for afew minutes just to have fun. Then it is over like a jumpscare.

You can cling onto him like a sloth. He wont even budge. Looking down at you with a confused face as if "wtf are u doin?"

He is bad at video games so if you want to play with him, you'll need to teach him first. He tries his best but he still loses. Its like he does that on purpose at this point. He much prefers to cheer for you when you and Gekko have a tournament between.

He is willing to share his babushkas food with you. You are that important to him. And he will be proud if his babushka and you have a good realitionship. Even if its just from the screen.

He is the sweetest man alive. Biggest support for you and a relaible friend at most. We love him 🥰

It took me almost seven years to finalize the boys’ designs, but here they are!

Besides the pictures, I’ve also invited them here to explain the thought process behind their outfits. They will go in order of color, so this time we’re starting off with… Jones!

❤️ The Wolf- Jones Fitzgerald

It’s only fair that the best-looking guy in the bunch gets the first word… so why does Luke keep getting all the spotlight? I’m supposed to be the main character!

Anyways, hope you aren’t too scared from all the spikes and flame patterns that I wear. Intimidation is a huge factor in designing a villain outfit, and I take great pride in being called scary. The flames are for another reason too— I��m a fire mage, and those who cross me shall beware the heat.

The cape was a reward from a quest I took up long ago. I saved a village from a demonic wolf, and they gave me some of her fur to wear as a trophy. In a way, it’s a reminder not to let my beloved Hiro go down the same path as his mother… but I do look quite big with the cape, don’t you think?

Even without my armor, cape, and giant coat, I still look like I’m onto some villain-y business, with the vest and jewel… Wait, what do you mean “yeehaw,” Makoto?! I’m not a cowboy!

… Hello there. I did not expect such a quick debut.

As you can likely tell from my hardened look, my story is about battling demons. I was promised greater progress by the others in Team Mythic Beasts, and they have been of great help in my quest.

I made my armor from various monsters that I have slain in battle, but the helmet, specifically, is from an a assassin sent by my former captor. It put up a tough fight, that’s for sure, but nothing beats the fury of a dragon.

Underneath my armor is a simple outfit I put together in Moriad, where I have lived as a refugee for quite a few decades now. I asked my dwarf neighbors if they could make me custom wear, but it was too much for them. Therefore, every piece is made by hand, by myself.

… Yes. That is all.

When I was a young lad, I’d be carrying heavy stuff everywhere to build up strength for all this armor that I wear now. That means I have to eat a lot of food every day, too! But underneath all this steel, I’m just a humble little guy from the city outskirts.

Oh, this medal? I got it from Lord Kristan! He’s the legendary founder of my hometown, Alphica, and he’s been watching over me and my nan since I was born.

So… that should cover everything about my outfit. You can probably tell I’m not as flashy as my friends; they’ll have a lot more to talk about than I do, I’m sure!

💚 The Weasel- Arthur Blackwood

Ha ha ha ha ha!!! If trouble is what you’d expect at the sight of a witch like me, then you’d be right— but you’ve got to be a total numbskull to get on my bad side. My long, sharp nails aren’t the only things you should worry about.

Not a fan of heavy clothes, since potions is my specialty; a simple coat, protective armwear, and a ragged cape does the job for me. As for the bird skull on my shoulder, one of the Raven Lord’s “beloved children” decided it was a good idea to get in the way of my curses— (MAKOTO’S NOTE: THIS DID NOT HAPPEN.)

Purple and cyan? Meh. Black, green, and silver? Classic. No idea what the witchcraft school I went to was thinking when they designed our uniforms, but I’ve done a better job than they ever will. It’s a shame my brothers don’t think the same.

Looks like my days as an adventurer are not over yet!

My outfit used to be a lot lighter. Shorts, summer jacket, loafers… they’re comfy, no doubt, but I needed something to reflect the things I’m actually good at— engineering and mechanics. So I decided to switch them out for some heavy duty wear.

Now, I’m fully covered up from the neck down, because building stuff, especially gadgets, isn’t really a safe activity. My coat is long enough for protection, but not too long as to get caught in the middle of moving gears. Yikes! Just thinking about that frightens me.

My eyes are just as important for my talent, so I’ve switched out my hat for a pair of goggles. Combine that with my new coat and waist pockets… don’t I look a lot more reliable now?

Oh, one more thing… I’ve had so many people tell me how heavy my backpack is. Is it really? The only stuff in there are bigger mechanical parts and my robot dog Hanatamago, that’s all…

How is that possible? Well, not long after I came to this world, the Lord of Dreams made me his assistant. He gave me the power to access the dreams of other individuals at any given time, whether I’m awake or in the process of dreaming. Dispelling nightmares is my job, as well as my specialty.

My Lord designed and created my entire outfit. Blue and purple are the colors of dreams in this world, so it’s only natural that he would choose such hues. The sleeves of my coat are styled just like his, and my base wear resembles the uniform I had at my last job. I do miss my friends back there, but I’m happy to be able to serve my Lord. He is truly a kind deity.

Of course, fighting night terrors is a dangerous job, so the cape and armbands serve as protection. My downwards moon earring also acts as a talisman. All in all, it warms my heart that my Lord had considered so much when he made me this costume.

Oh wow, I’m finally last for once. You probably know me well enough by now, as I’m all over this blog as well as Makoto’s Instagram page, if that’s how you found us here.

Every single item you see on me is a gift. Most are from my sisters, but gods have asked of my favor as well. I have no idea what they saw in me, but… alright. Pretty cool, I guess. If you want to know from whom is which, do let me know. By the way, if you look very closely at my choker, it has my initials on it.

Somehow, training with my family had helped me grow a pair of wings, fox ears, and a tail. No, this doesn’t make my hearing any better, nor can I fly... These parts are made of mist, and depending on my mood or energy level, can sometimes appear translucent or not show up at all.

The face markings... I got them while learning how to shapeshift under the God of Colors. He told me that every shapeshifter, whether born with the talent or learned it later in life, has a unique mark, or a combination of them. It’s not evident in my main form, but when I turn into a fox, the canine facial structure reveals the full shape of my marks— four diamonds.

Lloyd Hansen was a surprise to me and it took me a couple of months to finally Feel Things for him... normally I lean more towards whimsical, mysterious antagonists with an iconic evil laugh (i.e. NPH's Count Olaf, Plankton, Dr. Horrible, Beetlejuice, etc) especially when they're dressed in a cape/trench coat, top hat, something like that. Patrick Bateman!!! I've read that name a couple of times, I think someone else has also recommended him to me as F/O material in the past??? I'm SO squeamish though, I don't know if I'd be able to watch American Psycho bc I've heard there's some uh, especially violent/abusive themes, and I'm a little wounded if I see something physically violent towards a woman or an animal... or I've heard that this character in particular is also violent during/after sexual acts(???) I don't know for sure tho, I could be wrong.

ANYWAY one of my best friends loves that movie and I'm more than willing to watch it with them if they can give me a heads up on all of the scary parts while we stream it together so I can mentally prepare haha (and I will say, it would be really, really, really nice to be able to look at a horrible, monstrous serial killer and think to myself with FULL confidence "oh, he would never hurt me. he'd use this energy to protect me. I'm the exception 🥰" I used to be able to think this way very easily until a year ago, but I am working on it!!!! maybe this will be a good exercise or something... for me to watch this character do some really really vile terrible things and think to myself "wow he loves me SO MUCH" LOL I managed to do that for Lloyd anyways! so who knows~)

Halloween Binge: Day 17 👿 🍪

In honor of this glorious holiday and all the delicious treats that come with it, I've decided to rank the villains' outfits from the game Cookie Run!

Note: This list is solely based on my opinion, and honestly, this list was really hard because I love each and every one of their designs so much.

This is also coming from a purely design standpoint, their personalities are a completely different story.

Starting this time from #10 all the way to #1, without further adieu, let's bake to it!

10) Toothpaste Cookie

His name alone isn't winning him any favors.

Just the thought: a cookie made of toothpaste. Shudder

For real though, he mostly loses points for originality, since he's just a re-skin of Mint Choco Cookie. I know that that's the point, since he's an alternate version, but still.

His violin looks cool though! I'll give him that. But with way he's holding it, makes it look more like a guitar than a violin.

I really have nothing else to say, he's just bad boy Mint Choco. Nothing more, nothing less.

9) Mushroom Cookie

Look! I love my stoned-out little menace, but their outfit is just purple robes and a hat. That's it!

I like the droopy mushroom cap though. And I could be wrong, but their robes look similar to a mushroom's stem. I like details like that.

However, despite them looking adorable, and exuding the tired, energy, I must place them here.

Sorry, Shroomy. Love that shade of purple btw.

8) Pitaya Dragon Cookie

Not gonna lie: The helmet, the wings, the tail, that shade of red, the majestic flowing hair, is all just 💋👌.

BUT!

We've seen many other cookies in armor like that.

That's not to say that the design is boring or anything, it's just that we've seen this version of an outfit many times before.

Also, the sword looks kinda silly. Which I know, is a ridiculous thing to point out since this a game about cookies at war, but maybe if it was a bit sharper, it would look more menacing.

7) Licorice Cookie

I love his grim reaper aesthetic.

His design is very simple, but it works very well to his advantage.

The skulls around his neck, his scythe made out of bones and a lollipop, his dark gray robes, the little splash of purple around his waist so that the colors don't look too bland, everything works perfectly.

But I do wonder, with characters who have one eye covered with hair, unless it's to cover up a scar or something, isn't covering an eye functionally useless?

Look, I know it's to look cool and Licorice wants to go for that mysterious gothic vibe, but isn't his hair really thick?

Usually characters who cover up one eye can still see out of it since their hair is so thin, but his hair is made out of candy. Does it have the same logic as normal anime hair? The questions I ponder...

Anyway, he's cool. Next!

6) Twizzly Gummy Cookie

The colors do this one for me.

The blue and magenta colors are really satisfying to look at.

For a wild and crazy looking character, her colors are still uniformed, which I appreciate.

The punk rock aesthetic is also really cool, and I normally don't pick these kinds of characters.

I'm not sure why the eye that has a scar doesn't have the eyepatch on it. Now I'm curious about what she has under the patch.

But that's it. The colors are the best part.

5) Dark Enchantress Cookie

The Maleficent vibe. We love to see it.

From the horns, to the staff (I adore that staff), to the long dress, the cape, it's all here baby!

Overall, her design's also pretty simplistic, but I love the use of different shades of reds. Even the "black" isn't actually black, it's just a really dark red. I love that!

Sigh. But.

The moment I found her Chaos Incarnate outfit and other alternative concept designs for that out, I fell in love with them. And now her normal outfit looks so stale to me.

Sorry, my queen. I just can't bring myself to bring you higher than this.

4) Red Velvet Cookie

To be honest, with his color scheme, he really should be named "Candy Cane Cookie." But, oh well. I don't make the rules.

His outfit is really cool, even though he looks more like a prince than a royal guard for the Enchantress. But that comes mostly from the puffy sleeves and fur shoulder pads.

Love those flowing locks. Excellent! Even if they look like they'd reach down to the ground and get dirty.

The sword looks really cool too! It looks like a bedazzled, sharpened butter knife that people use at fancy restaurants.

His eyes are interesting. The blue really helps bring the black, white, and shades reds together.

And finally, the claw. Yes, the claw. Helping to solidify his badassery. You would never know this servant of darkness loves puppies.

3) Pomegranate Cookie

You really should be honored, Pomegranate. You rank hire than the woman you worship. Hope you're happy.

I'm a sucker for red jewels on characters, and her seeds? Whatever they are, look very shiny.

It's funny that despite have lighter shades of red that the Enchantress, she still comes across as menacing.

I also really like the bun bun hairstyle, so she gets extra points for that. Plus the fact that her head is shaped like a pomegranate.

I think what I love the most about her outfit, is how shiny it is. She's really ostentatious, despite being a servant. It's interesting.

2) Affogoto Cookie

This man's got style! He looks like an emperor!

The robe, that beautiful staff with sphere in the middle, the fur, the circular hair wrap (Idk what it's called), the braid on the side, the eyeshadow.

All of it. GLORIOUS!

He looks like a cat staring me down.

Beautiful! 💋

1) Black Pearl Cookie

As you can see, I never quite grew out of that mermaid phase. I couldn't help it. She's beautiful!

I'm a big fan of the hair, it looks like a cloud, and it suits her design so well!

Her shimmering...uh...scales? I think? Glitter maybe? I don't know. But they look nice with that shade of blue on her tail and the see though dress she's wearing.

The crown and the triton-looking staff are really pretty too. The crown reminds me of Ariel's father and older sister's crowns from The Little Mermaid movies.

And of course, the black pearl itself on the center of her forehead tops it off. I have no idea how the witches baked pearls into the cookies, but I love the result.

And that is it for my list! Sorry that it took so long to post today. I'm having wifi issues and Tumblr was acting up and not saving anything, so I had to rewrite stuff multiple times.

Holistar Miku director's commentary under the cut el oh el

While most of the inspiration came from the last two chapters of Hatoful Boyfriend Holiday Star (duh) I did find myself taking a bit of inspiration from some pre-existing Mikus, these being 2021 Magical Mirai Miku, 2015 Snow Miku, and her Infinity module from Project Diva.

The hair was the part that took the longest to draw, I had to be really conscious about how the parts overlapped as while I had some stylistic restrictions, I wanted it to look 3D. I think I did an okay job.

Her hair holders were originally going to be stars but I worried they'd look too generic (also the design had tonnes of stars already), and I thought the eggs were thematically appropriate (and looked sick as hell with the king heads spilling out).

I got the idea for the crowns on her hair from Harmony Splatoon. Enough said.

The stars are meant to mimic holographic glitter/sequins because I'm obsessed with those things.

She originally had a third smaller eye under her red one akin to my hc King design (these three eyes also represent the 3 gemstones btw) but her face felt too cluttered with it.

Her pupils are supposed to be egg shaped but idk how well it came across ;-;

The eyelashes are meant to tie into the crown motif seen elsewhere but they kind of give her a Matryoshka/Peleda vibe. I'm okay with this.

The capelet was calling out to me from somewhere that I didn't get until after I drew it, and then a day or so later I figured out I got the idea from Nageki's advent calendar art.

The jewel on the ribbon was originally a topaz, but I made it some sort of blue one instead as it worked with the design better.

Her shirt has a collar under the capelet btw. If I ever make a ref sheet I'll point that out.

The skirt had a few different designs. At first it was red and fur lined like the cape, then it resembled a lighthouse, and then I decided to stick with the skirt seen here. I think it's my favourite part of the design tbh.

The reverse gradient on the sleeve and tights are meant to represent how the night on the Holiday Star swings like a pendulum, also having the gradients go the same way looked weird.

It's not pictured here, but her character item is 100% a picture book.

EDIT (21/04/23) Some things I forgot:

I got the idea for scattering the stars throughout her hair from Dokutsuki of Broken Bottles fame (I really need to finish that game...).

I don't usually colour in eyelashes (if I even add them at all) but I really loved how Miku's eyelashes look in the music video for Common World Domination, and seeing as I had that song (along with a few other of PinocchioP's) on loop while designing/drawing her it only felt right to include.

Inspired by all the fan designed Snow Miku's I'd seen a month or so before drawing her, I nearly gave her some sort of animal companion. I was torn between a quail and some sort of holistar-themed Yukine (even though she's not meant to be a snow miku) but in the end I didn't give her anything as I couldn't choose in time.

On that note however I think it would be kind of funny (even if it's a little grim) if her "twintails" could move in a way similar to that of the snakes that make up a gorgon's hair.

On a scale of "1" to "why ,god why" how do you feel about Naoya!?

HOLAAAAAA!

Ok so your ask made me realize I didn't write anything about this week's chapter, but tbh it's because I didn't feel like I had anything relevant to say other than "haha! Naoya is a worm" and "why in the world is Maki wearing a little cape?".

The way I feel about Naoya is "why, god why" (great scale btw). But probably not for the same reason most people feel like that about him.

Granted I haven't spent enough time brain rotting about Naoya, I am personally indifferent to him because I LOVE LOVE LOVE problematic, irredeemable and complex characters (Naoya isn't necessarily complex but he's problematic and irredeemable so yay!).

I also THINK we are meant to dislike him by design--meaning, Gege created in Naoya a character that is easy to hate. Characters like that typically have an underlying message to them and that makes me curious about him.

Come to think of it there's actually very few "problematic" characters that I have a visceral reaction to.

That said...

Why god, why do we have to go through another Maki vs. Naoya battle?

For me, it's somewhat obvious that we would eventually see a vengeful spirit in the story since Gege foreshadowed their existence and how they are "born". So from a narrative standpoint, it makes sense that Naoya would come back as one.

But we literally just saw Maki kick his ass after she up-leveled. We've already seen what she's capable of.

So... from a narrative standpoint, what's the point of Maki kicking Naoya's ass again?

I get the Culling Game is a twist on the tournament arc trope, but to me, a Maki vs. Naoya the vengeful spirit battle feels kind of fanservicy: battle for the sake of battle.

Especially after Hakari's fights which have had a very existential tone running underneath the surface.

I also get that Maki is probably going to struggle against Naoya because of her lack of Cursed Energy, which means she'll have to rely on help from Kamo and the use of a Cursed Tool in order to exorcise everybody's favorite parasite.

And... of course I want to see Maki kick ass again! Her battles are some of the best.

But in the end I'd just rather see the plot move forward instead of another beautifully choreographed battle for the sake of battle.

So I'm honestly hoping Naoya brings some sort of important revelation that is relevant to the plot or the bigger picture of the Jujutsu-scheme of things.

If his entire purpose in the narrative is solely to avenge his honor (considering he is indeed a vengeful spirit) then I hope Maki steps on him and kills him quickly. I'll go ahead and buy her some insecticide myself so we can all move on with our lives.

But if his purpose in the narrative is to reveal something important about the plot, then I'm looking forward to it.

I expect Naoya will continue to be irredeemably "problematic" and I'll be there to laugh at the irony of what he becomes because of it. After all, how fitting is it that he became a worm?

Divine retribution I tell you.

So yeah... why god, why? FANTASTIC scale!

BG3 Playthrough: cleaning up

I'll stop marking these posts as spoilers as we're still quite early in Act I, but the rest of my post is under the cut for people who still haven't played the game.

So basically now we're doing everything we were supposed to do before rescuing Halsin.

cleared the Goblin camp, looted a bunch of stuff

killed the harpies near the the druid grove - apparently the dead Tiefling kid there could have been alive if we discovered this sooner

killed the lvl 5 spider underneath the small abandoned village so fast it never had a chance to attack (we're still lvl 4 though)

Resting at camp has been interesting these past few nights:

My (dark urge) butler has arrived and I tried to tell him that I'm not as evil as he thinks I am, but apparently (I use this word quite often lol) that's what I always say after losing my memory. Well dude, maybe there's some truth to it? Maybe I don't wanna be evil??

I still accept the cape he's giving because ... well, I like free shit I guess.

WE CAN FINALLY PLAY FETCH WITH SCRATCH!!

Where's my owl bear though? We told it to go to our camp and so far, it hasn't arrived :(

Gale:

Gale has snacked his maximum number of magical items and finally told me what's the matter with him. Asked me if I wanna expell him from the camp. My friend, I murdered Alfira, I'm in no position to say anything here. I'm happy you guys didn't kill ME.

After talking to me, Gale has decided he wants to make love to me. A natural progression of things. Sir, I'm flattered, but you're still pining for your goddess. Also, I'm pining for Astarion, so, well, this is awkward.

His puppy eyes afterwards made me regret my decision a bit. In another playthrough, I'll romance you, I swear. I still love you a lot.

Speaking of Astarion:

He finally warms up to me! As I'm writing this I'm still neutral in his eyes, BUT!

I know about his past as a slave

He finally tried to bite me, which was weird due to the fact that he already flat out told me he's a vampire, but in this scene we both pretended this never happend and what can I say? My boy now has the "Happy!"-Buff and that's nice.

Him saying "Shit." after I wake up while he tries to bite me is priceless

We found the amethyst to open the evil book we found in the wizard's cellar and Astarion wanted to have it. What could possibly go wrong? He has it and he's kinda happy about that. Again, I'm in no position to judge anyone in this camp.

Yes I am aware that Gale's condition stems from an evil book, thank you very much, game

So, yeah, not a lot happening in terms of main story right now. We're going after the swamp hag next, let's hope there's more opportunities to please Astarion. Yes, I admit, I spoilered myself a bit at this point, but that's normal for me.

btw: I find Astarion to genuinely be a useful character. Having someone who can lockpick is always nice and he deals quite a lot of damage. Maybe I'll give him Ranger as second class though? Sounds like a smart combination.

As for my cleric, I'm still trying to figure out how to play her best. She's weird.

this was one of my favourite chapters to write ever, hands down. it’s definitely up there with the small party at the big eyes penthouse.

i feel like part of that is because this is really when pearl gets involved with villains beyond just chance encounters, like this is when boatems villain and civilian lives coincide more so.

i LOVED writing scar in this chapter because is such an interesting character with how he acts, like fuck i outdid myself when i fleshed him out. i love how he acts as a civilian, knowing that he most definitely cant tell pearl of his and grian’s villain status so he instead drops those little hints and almost revels in the mystery. grian too is very interesting, but i’ve already talked about him.

HIS MOM THO!!!!! HATE HER GUTS!!!! especially with more stuff relating to his backstory that have yet to be revealed, but once that drops you’ll get it fr she is TERRIBLE

impulse has revealed himself to be another favourite of mine, especially after the interlude of his and scar’s. i fleshed him out a lot more in it, and doing so made me be like “huh. why didn’t i write him sooner wtf”

and yes, syn is an oc. she is mentioned like once after this and she is not important in any capacity. usually im very apprehensive about dropping in named ocs in mcyt fics because it just feels. odd, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. and i like syn, she’s chill ☺️

Thirsty Baddie Ranks Top 5 Sexiest Disney Characters

I am having one of the worst weeks of my life right now and this whole post is me trying to distract myself by rewatching this glorious glorious episode of Top 5 Beatdown. It’s an absolute delight of an episode and it made me feel better for the time I rewatched it.

So, naturally, I want to write about it.

I like that the episode starts like this...

... because wasn’t he the one who suggested the topic?

Anyway, we are off to a fantastic start. And Joyce is back! Always love to see her, her energy, her sense of humor and her stunning outfit. Made me feel better immediately.

I still don’t know how I feel about Shane purring because it is equally cute, funny and disturbing - which probably means that he should do it more often. (Also because it is extremely entertaining to see Ryan’s reaction lol.)

“This is Top 5 Beatdown! I respect you when the cameras are off.” I love her.

It’s still hilarious that Ryan said he watched A Goofy Movie on “performance enhancers” (weed) and Shane’s first thought was cocaine while Joyce’s first thought was viagra lmao.

Ryan’s number 5 (Powerline) is extremely valid btw (even though I would not put him on my own list). When I first watched the episode, I listened to Eye to Eye on repeat for several days afterwards.

🎶 If we listen to each other’s hearts we’ll find we’re never to far apart And mayyybe love is the reason why for the first time ever we’re seeing it eye to eye 🎶

And Mouse Madej returns! I am just going to use this opportunity to share my Miss Bianca/Mouse Madej art here again. ^-^ (Steven banned fanart for this episode which naturally led to people drawing more fanart for this one than for any other T5B episode. I kept it wholesome though.)

The innuendos in this episode lol

Ryan: “And she (Nani) loves her sister’s little blue guy.”

This made me realize once again how much they bring up the nasty little blue guy in shows that are not Puppet History. Months later and they are still rubbing it in. (R.I.P to a real one.)

HOW can you mention Vixey but not Maid Marian! If we are talking about sexy vixens, she is CLEARLY superior!

And while I am calling out people here - I agree that Ursula should be at least on one list but no one mentioned that she is inspired by Divine who was a drag queen. I just think Ursula should have gotten bonus points for that (and maybe be moved a little higher on the list SHANE).

That being said, it’s one of the most valid picks in this entire episode. ^-^

I have never watched Big Hero 6 and had to look up what the aunt looks like, and I loved Ryan’s reaction. “Oh I see. ... Oh I see. 👀“

Aaand here we have Mr Bergara’s first mention of lovely green eyes. I agree that green eyes are lovely but personally, I think that dark brown is clearly the best eye color, not that I am biased. Also, I would not call Nala’s eyes green, they look more blue-ish to me. :p

Ryan: “(...) a littel topsy-turvy.”

Shane: “Or bottomsy-turvy.”

I wonder how many people thought this too and then rejoiced when he said it, because I certainly did. :D

The whole part with Queenie the Cow is a mess lmao. I sometimes wonder what went on in Shane’s brain when he added (oedipal). Like, what was the thought process here.

“I don’t have mommy issues. I love that she gives milk.”

This is such a golden quote. And I love that Ryan immediately calls him out for it.

Not gonna lie though, all the things Shane said about Queenie’s kindness and sweetness are very endearing, almost too endearing for a video like this. ^-^

And Mouse Madej strikes again. I know what Shane means with “aspirational hot” though (and a top hat and cape sounds dope) although for me it would be more in the realm of gender envy. (Btw I think that Shane’s list is very interesting in general.)

Mulan is a great choice too (although she is not on my list either). Joyce: “It’s a little bit androgynous.” I agree that it makes a character so much more appealing. ^-^ Like, things that play with gender like that? Hell yeah.

Never thought I would hear the words “post-nut clarity” while someone was talking about The Lion King. I will think about this on my deathbed, thank you Ryan.

Loved Joyce’s wholesome ending to a non-wholesome video.

told in character’s point of view

-through the groups of pirates fighting, through all of the blood, through all of the smoke and sword clashes, how did I manage to see the exact moment a gun was held to your head and the trigger was pulled

-a spout of dark liquid came from your head that felt like it drowned even from so far away and so little in content

-you fell back onto the ground and the crew members that had seen the event looked to me, but I only turned away 

-when the fight was over I went back towards the boat I was grinning, because I wasn’t mad you had died

-some of the crew members however began to tear up, it was nice to see they cared so much about you as well

-Yasopp ran to me and grabbed my collar, I told him to let go, he didn’t seem to have the same outlook on your death

-if there’s one thing that was bothering me, it was the question of why I had to see your demise

-why... why had I been able to see that moment. I wish I hadn’t, I think I would have much rather lived in a blissful denial telling myself you were off on your own journey and you would return soon

-maybe I would’ve been better off telling myself you are somewhere in the world and I just have to find you

-I guess you are on your own voyage somewhere, maybe with another crew, maybe with another captain

-is it fun?

-you wanna know why I’m not crying, why I’m not breaking down like I always had thought I would?

-it’s because in the moment when I almost ran to you, when I. almost gave in and crashed to the floor, it was like I had heard an angel whisper to me- she said she’d keep you safe

-that you’ll be okay

-she said your time with me is over

-and I didn’t want to ruin your departure with my own selfishness

-I hope you’ve had a good time with me _____, I hope you’re as free as you were here

-Thatch brought me over to the crew after the battle, everyone is grouped in a circle, it’s almost like someone die- oh

-Marco was kneeling beside you with his hands on fire, but his powers didn’t seem to be working because you still weren’t moving

-you were already dead when I got there.. I couldn’t even say goodbye

-I scoffed in disbelief, anger, sadness-I don’t fucking know. Marco looked up at me with slightly teary eyes and he shook his head

-I choked out a sob and ran towards you, could you hear me? I took you in my arms and shook you because usually that works but you didn’t do anything. you felt so cold I tried to warm you up but maybe my emotions were too crazy because the flames burned you... could you feel that too?

-no one told me who killed you even when I pounced on Marco and threatened him, I swear I would’ve made him pay 

-Whitebeard pushed me away

-it’s fucked up world where the innocent ones like you are the ones to die first, when their are so many horrible people out there, maybe it was that you were too innocent, maybe you had to leave before that innocence was corrupted

-if that’s the case then I guess I should be thankful, but I can’t be

-I’m sorry I’m not all, “oh _____ is in a better place now” but you’re not in a better place!

-a better place would be with me! or maybe a better place would be with you. a better place is just wherever you and I are together, so where am I supposed to go when that place doesn’t even exist 

-y’know I always wanted you to die first so you wouldn’t have to go through the pain of my death, I just might have underestimated how painful this would be

-I’m not saying I would rather I die before you because I love you too much to put you through this.. or loved you? is that what I’m supposed to say now? why didn’t you just stick around long enough to tell me what to do?

-you never said “I’m leaving” and you never said “goodbye”, you left before I had the chance to tell you how much I love you and how much you’ve helped me

-but without you here it’s like none of that matters, like you gave up on me

-and for that, I hate you 

-usually when Shanks calls me over it’s not a very serious matter, and it’s usually not after a battle because he can his own

-but he called me over once the smoke was beginning to clear and something about the way he said my name made me unnerved

-you’re never ready to see someone you love dead, even when I’ve been a pirate for years it was... scary. maybe the fact that you were still breathing is what made it even scarier

-I didn’t want to tell you it would be okay, I’ve never liked lying to you. and you seemed to know it wasn’t okay. maybe it was the tears brimming in my eyes that told you the truth, maybe it was my shaking hold when I took you from Shanks’ arms and cradled you against my chest

-it all felt so slow, watching the crew walk away with their heads hanging low, the feeling of your hand grabbing mine

-I’ve always been... okay with words of love, but now I love you seems futile. I still said it though, I wonder if you heard it

-your eyes were wandering everywhere I wasn’t sure if you could comprehend. anything

-when your hand fell from my cheek I kissed your forehead one last time and layed down on the ground, I put my cape over you just in case it got cold, you always loved huddling in my cape 

-I think the hardest part of ‘moving on’ will be trying to recover the part of me you took

-it was like you added a second heart that only beat for you, but it’s not slowing  down, because I sure as hell still love you

-it’s just.. going to be a little while before we see each other again

-I know that there is nothing that could be done to save you, but I still have to wish you could have stayed

-I think the hardest part of this is that I know our story wasn’t finished
