I came across this incredible gem on Dizengoff st. It is called Katzman Gallery and they sell thousands of books in various conditions. And if you buy one, you can bring it back and get half price on your next book purchase. • • It’s really nice to see shops like these, and when I have the chance I prefer to purchase my books from them rather than huge bookstore chains. • • I believe in keeping stores like these alive and running as well as reading books. The Write Stuff #2 Why I want to write

Tbh this is something I always wax poetic about. I believe in fantasy so much. I’m not your normal fangirl in that I don’t get as emotionally involved in the character arcs and shipping, etc. But I’m the biggest nerd for world building. You tell me you have a new fantasy book, and I have a million and one questions about genre (high fantasy or urban?), the laws of magic in the world, the hierarchy of power, the level of drama to the inevitable love triangle and what you feel makes this book unique, etc. I have experienced and truly believe that books are the best kind of magic. 

Written 2/4/17 Explain why you want to write. Our world threatens to fossilize us with wealth, success, power, and community. None of these are evil, but when hinged on the validation of others or even self they become insidiously meretricious. And this “validation enslavement” robs us of creativity, boldness, sensitivity, and unfettered joy. This is why reality is found in fantasy. With the turn of each page, we become progressively unsettled by the thrall of approval. Lost in another realm, we are freed from all expectations - especially the ones we place on ourselves. We long for a grand adventure to make us whole by shattering our routines; we crave the magic that is belief and faith - to be a hero and save the world by facing our demons. And when you reach the end of a truly good story, a piece of you remains in that fantasy, giving you the courage to rise against the villains of your own reality. In this way, an author crafts the heroes of many worlds.

A few days ago I received an unexpected gift included in an unexpected sympathy card from a former client of my sister’s dad. She said that he always spoke fondly of BOTH of us, not just my sister. She thought that I was also his biological daughter, he never mentioned the difference. To anyone. I was moved by this woman’s kindness, this stranger. I was touched by Bruce’s thoughts//ideals towards me, even if I spent most of my life rebelling against those notions. I chose to use this gift for comfort, treating myself to a novel, & a splurge on a dinosaur shaped cookie jar. Why? Why not?! We must always rise above the maelstrom and appreciate the little things. It may not make sense to anyone but me, but I don’t know how to thank this lady for giving me a moment of light during a not so bright Year in my life. Thank you! 🙏🏻😘 . . . . Side note 📝... this is one of the best books I’ve read in ages. 🌻Review🌻 A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E Schwab • This has instantly become one of my favourite books. “Kell wore a very peculiar coat.” I love this opening line, the story follows Kell and his magical coat through the parallel cities of Grey, Red and Black Londons. His rare magical abilities and bad decision making lead him to dangerous situations, and to Lila. Lila is on a very different path, and craves adventure which she finds when she meets Kell. The world that VE Schwab has created is detailed and exciting with a beautiful balance of dark and magical elements. Kell and Lila are unique and well written characters; they are engaging and easy to become attached to. I love their banter. But because his name is Kell, I couldn’t help but picture him as Kelsier from Mistborn, they seem kind of similar and I love both characters. Kelsier lives on in my mind through Kell. The plot is exciting and addictive. The writing is wonderful, you find yourself effortlessly drawn along and placed in the unique settings of wildly different Londons. • I loved this book and can’t wait to read the next ones, which I already have lined up on my kindle app on my phone. • 📕❓What book magical book recommendations do you have?
