Since the OG resin Mechanicum models haven't been delisted yet, I thought it would be of particular historical relevance to post some side-by-sides of the old models and their newly announced plastic counterparts before they're memory holed forever.
In the case of the Tech-Thralls, it looks like the new kit may only contain las-locks - now modified to more closely resemble a standard lasgun than the previous neutron laser-inspired design.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The new design looks less bulky - the shoulders, particularly, have been slimmed down - and many of the poses present a staggering gait that feels more thematically consistent with the bionic zombies they're meant to be. Great stuff.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Thallax, meanwhile, give the appearance of being slightly more bulky than their resin counterparts. This may just be an artifact of the photography, although the inclusion of additional armored head options does give those examples a somewhat more tanky profile.
Some superficial changes to their weapons as well - all are still clearly recognizable, with the most obvious change being to elongate the multi-melta to separate the foregrip from the barrel shroud.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Similarly superficial, the Castellax look to be very nearly 1:1 with their resin counterparts. It's tough to turn up any significant variances even on a close inspection, although I'm sure that the switch to plastic will significantly improve the assembly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Thanatar definitely benefits from the switch to plastic, showcased by the wide open magnetic containment ring around the muzzle of its plasma mortar. In its original resin incarnation, this assembly is cast as a single, solid ring which sits over the end of the gun. I imagine that it's meant to articulate while firing, opening up to release the containment field as the plasma discharges.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What I find most interesting is the sheer number of modifications to the Triaros Armoured Conveyor. The silhouette is unchanged, but any particular detail you care to hone in on is noticeably different; from the venting on the shock ram to the gimbles of its point defense weapons, to the coils of its flare shield projectors and the suspension of its return rollers.
I'll definitely be curious to see how they approach the rest of the Mechanicum range. We can already infer that the Termite Assault Drill is coming, since it's got an 8mm Legions Imperialis counterpart on the way, and the tooling for the Triaros makes the lightning locked and rad missile loaded Karacnos Assault Tank a lot more likely.
I wouldn't mind seeing a plastic Krios Battle Tank, either, but there's less reason to believe that's imminent at the minute.

20dollarlolita pattern school step 3) prep and pattern selection.
NOTE: Here's a link to the pattern school discord. If this link has expired, please message me off-anon and I can send you one. I like to get to know everyone in the pattern school and so I don't let too many people in at once, so that I don't get overwhelmed.
So quick summary of where we were: Pattern School is a project that I'm working on in this blog, and that has an accompanying Discord server. The purpose of Pattern School is to teach people, though hands-on experience, the consistent conventions that sewing patterns use. It also teaches basics about how to transform patterns into designs that do what you want them to do. Pattern School is divided up into steps. Each step builds on the skills of the previous one, and each one teaches new elements.
Here's the pattern school tag, in chronological order.
In step 1, everyone follows a commercial pattern with notches, grainlines, and written instructions. This pattern is for something that is not fitted to a human body/is not multi-sized. In this step, we make sure that everyone has a basic foundation understanding of how commercial patterns are made. We choose a non-fitted item so that selecting the correct fit and adjusting for body shape is not necessary. If the student wishes, an additional challenge for step 1 will be to look at a pattern, see if it's usable in lolita fashion, and make good fabric and trim selections to make a usable lolita item.
In step 2, we take a pattern for pajama pants and use it to create bloomers. This step introduces the basics of pattern manipulation. We go into how to remove seam allowance, measure ourselves for fullness, and assemble a garment from a modified pattern. Once again, there is a challenge of choosing good trim and fabric options to build a usable lolita garment.
In step 3, we will be making a lolita or lolita-adjacent garment for ourselves. This garment will be a fitted item, and it will have a closure. What's a closure? Closures are something that opens and closes to allow the wearer to get in and out of the garment. Closures can be zippers, button plackets, hooks and eyes, IDK freaking magnets or something, if you want to put velcro as a closure then more power to ya, but your garment needs to have some kind of closure. I've made resources for how to put in zippers, but other closures are probably also acceptable. Pullover elastic is not a closure. We are making a garment for ourselves because it's a lot easier to make a fitted garment when you have the body you're using right there with you at all times. If you are always with another human being while you sew, you could probably use them, but the critical component is that you have the body accessible to you all the time.
This time, the challenge is also to make something that either can be part of your lolita wardrobe, or that forces you to choose and style something that has a lot of lolita fashion aesthetics. If you want to pick a lolita-adjacent concept, like Aristocrat or Fairy Kei, you're probably fine? If you're doing this on your own, the person who decides if you're cheating is you. If you're in the Discord, you can ask if something's acceptable and like 15 people will disagree with it before tagging me and then I make up an answer on the spot. I firmly belive that Ouji is just lolita with pants and doesn't need to be stated separately.
I previously made a very long list of garments that you can make EGL fashion with, but it's older and some of the patterns are out of print. So, here's a few hours of me going through the big 4 pattern website and finding stuff that has potential.
Dresses:
Tumblr media

So quick note: my image editing software kept refusing to function with images off simplicity.com, so we're going to alternate between funky screenshots and semi-competent images. I'm not sorry.
Tumblr media

Any time you're making a lolita dress from an existing dress pattern, you'll need to check that the skirt will hold our petticoats. Frankly, most of them don't. You've done the bloomer step, so you do have experience with this kind of modification, but I'll do a tutorial later about checking this and drafting your own skirt onto an existing bodice. For step 3, doing a commercial pattern for the bodice and then following a web tutorial for the skirt totally counts. What we're looking for in a dress pattern is the ability to mod it into a working lolita dress. Please note that Simplicity 8444 (the pirated-but-not-pirate lolita dress) and Simplicity s9735 (the “why'd you use Derpy-chan??”) dresses are not eligible for Step 3, as they are both elastic pullovers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Top Left | Top Center | Top Right Bottom Left | Bottom Right
Blouses: However, Simplicity 8444 and s9735 both have blouses that work for step 3. If you want to build the JSK on your own and then follow the blouse pattern for step 3, you're good.
The McCall Titanic looking thing is a really fun blouse to make for this, and it's got a back zipper, so if you're not confident in your button-sewing then it's a good option.
Any button-up that goes all the way to the neck has some lolita potential. M8463 is actually pretty loliable on its own.
Tumblr media
Top Left | Top Center | Top Right Bottom Left | Bottom Right
Vests are easy to make, don't take a lot of fabric (so you can use some really fancy fabric and have it not break the bank). You're going to have to find a good reference image for lolita but they're really good for ouji and aristocrat, so they get a category.
Tumblr media
Top Left | Top Right Bottom Left | Bottom Right
I've just always wanted to make my own lolita coat so they get a category. Once again, you're going to need to double check that the flare fits your skirts.
Tumblr media
Left | Right
Welcome to the weird shit category. There's a costume shop near me that sells these funky bolero steampunk things and I've always wanted to put it in a coord, so it's on here. The other one is a top that you could probably use as the top half of a JSK, so if you want to make a coordinating skirt then you could have some fun separates. I think handmade lolita needs more coordinating separates. They're a real thing but I want them to be more common.
So that's in no way a complete collection of patterns you can use, but I hope that's got some kind of inspiration about pattern. My test garment was made off an etsy pattern. There's plenty of other patterns out there. This was just the fastest way for me to showcase some patterns that do work.
We'll do a little more about looking at style lines and finding how to understand this a little better in the future, but for now here we are.

you don’t have to elaborate at all if you don’t want to btw, but I can’t get L with a crush on fellow detective/friend out of my head! He’s definitely a starer imo 👀 👀 👀
"What?"
"..."
For a second, you thought L would stay silent and keep looking at you with those painfully hopeful eyes he only gives to you.
"I like the way you look."
You look back at him. The room is illuminated by the monitors, the only sounds are the computers fighting overheating and Light's shallow breathing in his sleep. It's comfortable and familiar, the smell of laundry detergent and the sweet aroma of spongy cake sits light in the air.
L has his thumb childishly stuffed between his pink lips, his big eyes trained on you and seemingly seeing way too deep inside your soul for your preference.
You snort and shake your head in a lame attempt to dismiss the flush creeping up your neck. "You have a weird way of talking, Ryuzaki. Anyone ever tell you that?"
"In some variation, yes." His hair falls just barely to the right as he tilts his head, you wouldn't have noticed if you weren't paying such close attention to him through your peripheral. You ignore that mental revelation.
"...Did you mean it?"
His chair scraps on the ground as he scoots closer to you.
"What reason do I have to lie?"
"I dunno... you're the smarter one here, you always have some fucking motive or something." You mumble the last few words and shrug, dropping your eyes to his hands that line up and assemble gummy bears in an apparently random order.
"You discount your own investigative abilities. You're quite the detective, Miss Y/n." L pushes with praise evident in his tone.
You're doing a poor job at hiding how his words effect you. With purpose and some difficulty, you roll your eyes and feign nonchalance.
"I told you to stop with that 'Miss' junk, it's just Y/n."
His eyes are on his hands where he holds the bears in one and prods at them with the second in a manner that you realize means he's weighing them and separating them based on that. It makes you giggle behind your palm.
"Of course, Miss Y/n." Now you know he's fucking with you and he's enjoying it too, his smile matches yours in his own diluted way.
"Oh my god..." You murmur under your breath. "You're ridiculous."
"..."
You look up at the quietness that meets your words and find his eyes doing that deep soul-search again. The way his long eyelashes hang shakily over his dark pupils somehow say I'm only ridiculous for you.
It's adorable and lovable and makes you feel like the most important thing in the world. This time you can't look away or shrug it off or laugh, this time it's too magnetic. It pulls you in by the belt hoops of your jeans, by the nape of your neck, by the swirling in your stomach intensifying to an almost cruel extent.
You could wonder how he got so close, so close his chair arms overlapped with yours. You could wonder what horrible consequences could come from acting on impulse. You could wonder what this meant for the investigation moving forward. But you didn't.
You let yourself move ever closer, push his legs out of your way and begin breathing barely an inch away from his face.
"Is this okay?" You ask with hazy eyes and parted, panting lips.
"Yes." He responds with his persistent clinical tone but his face looks too desperate to hide how he's feeling.
There's silence besides the sound of your lungs sharing air and for a second, L worries he's done something wrong and you'll pull away once you realize.
Then you're finally kissing him, enveloping his pillowy lips with yours and stealing his desperation from him. It fills your body in turn and you're pushing for more, fisting the shirt on his shoulder and letting your mouth move against his in an embarrassingly needy way.
When you pull away, his face chases yours. He still needs you, he thinks in that carnal, animalistic part of his mind. The satisfaction your kiss gave was so much more physical than any other, more than solving a case or enjoying a desert or even wrapping his fingers around himself in the dark depths of the night and bringing himself to heaven with the thought of you.
His usual high came from solving crime but that high was felt in his mind and it certainly didn't make him feel dizzy like this. This high was felt in his bones, his blood, and his pants; it was a physical satisfaction for the first time. He enjoyed it much more than he did when it was just mental.
It was so good because it was all yours to withhold and give, to bless him with and to make him yours. The desire to kiss you again, to breathe you in again nearly brought him to his knees.
"Can I kiss you again?" You ask in that breathy, sweet voice of yours.
L has never wanted you to shut up like he does right now, in fact, he does it for you.

Perhaps it was the thrill of the unknown that always drew you in, that inexplicable magnetic force that made you say ‘yes’ whenever Taehyung proposed one of his wild ideas. On this particular night, his suggestion sent a shiver of excitement down your spine. “How about a midnight swim in my parents’ pool?” he grinned mischievously, his eyes sparkling like stars against the inky canvas of the night sky.
The moon hung low on the horizon, casting a silvery glow over the sprawling estate, turning it into a realm of shadows and secrets. The crickets and cicadas sang a lullaby, their symphony underscored by the gentle rustling of leaves in the cool night breeze. A warm breeze carried the scent of summer flowers as you contemplated Taehyung’s proposal. You hesitated, wondering about the risks and consequences, but the lure of adventure beckoned irresistibly. “You’re insane, Tae,” you murmured, the corners of your lips curling into a conspiratorial smile. “But I’m in.”
Together, you tiptoed through the moonlit garden, the grass cool beneath your bare feet. The path to the pool was dappled with shadows, and the water’s surface seemed to shimmer with secrets. The night held its breath as the two of you stood at the pool’s edge, fully clothed, but with hearts pounding in anticipation.
With a shared glance and a silent understanding, you both took the plunge. The world transformed into a liquid dreamscape as the water swallowed you whole. Moonlight danced on the surface, and the muffled sounds of laughter and splashes filled the night air. For a moment, you were weightless and free, wrapped in the cloak of darkness and adventure.
It’s a mystery you’ve often pondered, one that tugs at the strings of your heart and beckons you towards him like a gravitational force. The reason you find yourself caught up in Taehyung’s whirlwind ideas time and time again is a complex blend of emotions that courses through your veins.
Every time he suggests something wild, your heart races, your mind dances with possibilities, and a spark of adventure ignites within your soul. It’s the love you hold for him that’s at the root of it all—a love so profound, it transcends reason and logic.
Taehyung’s enchantment isn’t just confined to his daring propositions; it’s the way he looks at you with those mesmerizing, deep brown eyes. They’re like pools of liquid chocolate, windows to a soul that’s as enigmatic as it is captivating. When he gazes into your eyes, it feels as if he’s unraveling the deepest corners of your heart, exposing your vulnerabilities, and yet, reassuring you that it’s okay to be yourself.
Those eyes hold a magnetic charm, drawing you in with their intensity, making you feel cherished and cherished. They’re the reason you willingly follow him down the rabbit hole of his wild ideas, the reason you’re ready to dive headfirst into the unknown, because in those moments, you feel truly alive.
As you stand there, the water’s surface cool against your skin, you become acutely aware of Taehyung’s intense gaze. His eyes, like molten pools of dark chocolate, bore into your soul, locking you in a mesmerizing embrace. It’s as if the entire world has faded away, leaving only the two of you in this moment of electrifying connection.
The shimmering pool water reflects the moonlight, casting a play of silvery ripples across his features. Every flicker of emotion dances in those piercing eyes, a silent conversation of desire and anticipation. Your heart quickens as he slowly closes the distance, drawing you irresistibly closer to the edge of the pool.
With each step, the tension builds, your breaths coming quicker, matching the rhythm of your racing pulse. It’s a tantalizing dance of attraction, a magnetic pull that neither of you can resist. The sensation of being pinned against the wall of the pool, both by the water’s embrace and Taehyung’s intense gaze, sends shivers of excitement down your spine.
A nervous lump forms in your throat as Taehyung’s towering figure eclipses your view. His remarkable height makes you feel small and vulnerable, like a delicate butterfly pinned against a board. It’s a sensation that sends shivers down your spine, a mixture of trepidation and thrilling anticipation.
As he looms over you, his presence is as formidable as a predator closing in on its prey, and yet, there’s an undeniable allure to the danger. The moonlight bathes his silhouette in an ethereal glow, casting shadows that dance and play across his sculpted features. You can feel the weight of his gaze on you, like an invisible tether that holds you in place.
The air around you is charged with a heady mixture of desire and uncertainty, and every breath you take feels like a conscious effort. It’s a moment frozen in time, where you’re caught between the fear of the unknown and the exhilaration of being so close to Taehyung, the enigmatic force that has always drawn you in.
You lock eyes with him, and in that electrifying moment, you find a kaleidoscope of emotions swirling within the depths of his gaze. His eyes, like a rich tapestry, are a captivating blend of love, lust, and an insatiable hunger that ignites a fire within your very soul.
His voice, barely above a husky whisper, sends a thrill down your spine as he leans in, closing the distance between you. The air around you seems to crackle with tension, and every heartbeat echoes in your ears. He inches closer, his lips hovering just a breath away from yours, and you can feel the warmth of his breath caressing your skin.
“Can I kiss you?” he murmurs, his words like a seductive melody that sets your heart racing.
You meet his intense gaze with a trembling breath, and your voice comes out in a hushed, almost ethereal whisper. “Yes.” With that simple word, the world around you fades into oblivion.
He kisses you with an intensity that leaves you breathless, a fervor and passion that ignites a fire within your very core. His lips, plush and inviting, meld perfectly with yours, creating a seamless connection that defies time and space.
With every fleeting second, the kiss deepens, becoming a dance of desire and longing. His tongue traces the contours of your lips, seeking entry, and you part them willingly, granting him access to the secrets hidden within. As your tongues tangle in a sensual embrace, you taste the lingering sweetness of the chocolate he had indulged in earlier, a deliciously sinful reminder of the shared moments that have brought you to this point.
Electric sparks seem to crackle in the air, and your senses are overwhelmed by the intoxicating blend of his scent, the taste of chocolate, and the sound of your hearts beating in sync.
He breaks the kiss, leaving you breathless and craving more. His voice, low and husky, caresses your ears as he murmurs, “I want you, babe. Can I touch you?”
You feel a surge of desire wash over you, and your eagerness to be close to him mirrors his own desires. You nod eagerly, wanting the same thing he’s asking for but unable to find your voice amidst the whirlwind of sensations.
His lips curve into a playful smirk, his eyes smoldering with passion as he whispers, “Use your voice, babe.”
The anticipation in the air crackles like electricity, and you finally find your voice, though it quivers with desire as you respond, “Yes.”
“I want you to touch me everywhere,” you whisper, your voice laced with desire, as you twirl playfully in the water. The moonlight dances on the surface, casting a seductive glow over the scene.
A soft chuckle escaped his lips, teasing and affectionate. “That’s cute,” he murmurs, his words a caress against your ear before he claims your mouth once more. This time, his kiss is an inferno of passion, a molten dance of tongues and longing that sets your soul on fire.
His hands, warm and insistent, trace a path down your body, leaving a trail of tingling sensations through your soaked clothing. Your breath catches in your throat as he cups your breasts, his fingers teasingly tracing the contours, igniting a storm of pleasure beneath the fabric.
Desire courses through your veins like a wildfire, leaving you breathless and craving more. Your body aches with anticipation as you press yourself against him, seeking that electric connection that promises to consume you both.
As if attuned to your every need, he responds with a hunger that matches your own. With a seductive urgency, he lowers his boxers, letting them float weightlessly in the pool. The moonlight catches the droplets of water on his skin, turning them into glistening diamonds that trace the contours of his body.
The cool water cradles your entwined forms, providing a sensual backdrop to your shared exploration. Every touch, every caress, is a symphony of desire that crescendos with each passing second. The sensation of skin against skin, the warmth of your connection, sends shivers of ecstasy down your spine.
He gently spins you around, his fingers deftly sliding your shirt off your body, leaving you bare at the top. He then dives down to pull your underwear off. Your arms and head now rest on the pool top. He comes back up for air and you can feel his dick on your ass as he moves further down, down to your core where you really need him.
He enters without discomfort, probably thanks to the prep he did on you before you got in the pool.
He feels incredible inside, and you moan in pleasure, spurring him on. It doesn’t take long for you to reach your climax and Taehyung is close after, not caring that he doesn’t last long. Because he knows that the night is young.
“Maybe we should consider getting up before my parents come home,” he suggests with a playful glint in his eyes. The thought of their impending return adds an element of mischievous excitement to the situation, making you both giggle like teenagers caught in a forbidden act.
You reluctantly extricate yourself from his embrace, sharing a knowing look that speaks volumes about the bond you share. As you both rise from the water, the memory of this enchanting night lingers, etching itself as another cherished chapter in your memories.

Figure collecting: Richter Belmont 1:4 resin from First 4 Figures
Tumblr media
Well look who's here 2 months ahead of schedule - it's Richter Belmont in his iconic Symphony of the Night pose!
I opted for the standard/regular version since I had no plans to swap out the Vampire Killer for a sword. I mean, who thinks of Richter with anything but the whip (and maybe a lil' Hydro Storm, but a plain ol' flask of Holy Water doesn't look so impressive).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Close ups of his suitably smarmy mug, and the great detailing on his belts, sword and whip. The whip has just a tiny bit of flex to it (feels like plastic wrapped wire) so I didn't have that moment of fear that I'd snap it while installing his hands.
(F4F does a great job of making these as easy to assemble as possible - Richter's head and body are a single piece, with the hands and the whip as a single separate item that magnetize in. The sword handle was a small separate piece that just slides in (since the deluxe version has a sword wielding option).)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here he is with his new unwilling roommate! I know the case is tight, but you both just stuff yourselves in there... yesss... At least Alucard now has a matching playmate? : 3
Simon and Trevor got the boot, as they no longer fit in the case with Alucard : (
(Minor gripe: I wish they had matching bases, just for a more consistent look. Also Richter's base is about 1/4" taller than Alucard's, so it's making him look taller than I think he should be (plus his head is jammed right up against the top of the case since I'd originally built it to hold Alucard only). I don't think there's an official height listed for him but I had always assumed he was either shorter than or same height as Alucard.)
(Very minor gripe: Richter's hair is about the same length as Alucard's, whereas I think it should probably be a hair (heheh) shorter. Some of Alucard's official artwork has his down well past his waist, but he's SO heavy with the cloak, 1.5x heavier than Richter, so I get that for stability purposes it had to be kept shorter.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BONUS! ... Since we got some nice promo art to work with, how long is Richter's hair you ask? This long:
I've been slowly assembling an Astranova using bits and pieces I've found online from various Astranova dolls. I knew if I was ever going to get an Astranova, I would want the darker blue skin variant, but the ones I found had various issues; I finally could cobble together one myself from the purple and blue skin variants.
The base doll I got had a broken neck and a damaged headpiece, so I ended up boiling her head, pulling off the damaged headpiece and swapping in a relatively undamaged one. I also removed the magnet inside the headpiece as it was really heavy and contributed to the neck cracking (ALL the Astranova dolls I picked up have neck damage somehow). With this one's neck, I used some ABS plastic melted in acetone to patch up missing pieces, and once her head was on, it covered any mismatch.
Her pieces come from 3 separate Astranova dolls, and I'm pretty chuffed I managed to get her looking as nice as I could without buying her whole playset or paying the secondary market prices for one in much better condition.
I did end up with several Astranovas, but I'm excited to work on her lilac sisters.
Marc Baron / Mark Vernon—post-chance (Erstwhile)
Tumblr media
The title post-chance is a declaration of process. Separately, Marc Baron and Mark Vernon work with tape and collected sounds, which they examine and transform. They were commissioned by Erstwhile to work together without having ever met, and they decided to keep it that way until late in the record-making process.
While anyone who works with analog tape must deal with the changes wrought by the medium, Vernon and Baron have harnessed its potential for degradation as a vehicle for making material. The contents of their original recordings — machine sounds, sirens, lonesome whistling, snatches of orchestral music and radio chatter, microphone bumps, one participant reacting to what they had received or describing a stage in the work — were important, but no more so than what was done to them, and how different moments in their transformative process related to each other.  Each mailed tapes to each other, which the recipient would ponder, process, and digitize. They would then make a tape of their work, note the moment when it was made, unspool it and pack it into an envelope with a loose magnet. Once mailed, the magnet would randomly degrade whatever parts of the tape it rubbed against as the packet made its way between France and the United Kingdom.
After a year of such activity, the two men finally met in person to assemble the various phases of their collaboration into a finished collage, using the noted time-stamps of their copying activities as guidelines for where in the nearly hour-long work they would place the sounds. Such rules limited the roles of the artists as decision-makers to choosing how to fiddle with the material and how to combine it. Sequence might be out of their hands, but the terms of juxtaposition were not. Baron and Vernon used hard-panned stereo to set up dialogues between pre- and post-mailed segments, enabling the listener to hear the stages of their creation unmoored from the process of its making. The duo have accomplished something remarkable  fixed-length representation of the sound detached from sources and purposeful action untethered from time and sequence.
Inform 7 Basics Continued (#5)
Where were we? We talked about the Index, rooms, and room descriptions. These rooms are still pretty bare, aren't they? We should put some things in them.
A railgun in in the lab.
There. We now have a thing (that's what Inform 7 considers it, a "thing"). If we stand in the lab and look, we will see it listed beneath the room description.
Magnetic Propulsion Laboratory The organization's magnetic propulsion lab focuses primarily on railgun technology. You can see a railgun here.
So, that's nice. We can pick it up and carry it around. We can examine it. Unfortunately, we only get a stock response as defined in the Standard Rules (remember those?):
>x railgun You see nothing special about the railgun.
Yawn. That will never do. The syntax is the same for describing things as it is for describing rooms:
The description of the railgun is "This is the newest prototype, able to toss a wad of metal through an armored tank. That is, if the tank doesn't explode first. It is quite large, and is too heavy to fire without a capable tripod mount. That's to say nothing of the recall involved. Since it is not production ready, bare wires and circuits are visible up and down the assembly."
As with the room descriptions, we could consolidate the initial declaration and the description, but I always opt for separate lines because that's easier for me to read. You should do what's most readable for you, so that you can easily proofread and troubleshoot as needed.
OK, good. Now we have some descriptive text when we examine the railgun. It still isn't really a gun, though. We haven't made rules governing its behavior in the game. Let's save that for now.
As a courtesy to our players, we should try to support as many reasonable adjectives as possible. We don't ever want players to try to hunt for the right word. That's boring and discouraging. Let's use our first "understand" rule:
Understand "gun" and "rail" and "assembly" as the railgun.
Note that we could separate the words with "/" (forward slash) instead, but that can't handle names longer than one word. Since I like to handle all cases in the same when way possible, I stick with "and" constructions. For reference, though:
Understand "gun/rail/assembly" as the railgun.
OK. Now we have synonyms. It is still a basic widget that can only be examined. All other actions will print default responses from the Standard Rules. I think most people will want to fire the gun. There's a problem, though. There are no commands for "shooting" or "firing" anything. Worse still, we have no tripod.
The tripod problem is easy to fix. Or start fixing, anyway. Let's put one in the storage area. That makes sense, doesn't it?
A tripod is in the Annex.
It's nice to have a short name to work with, but tripod will probably sound bland to players. Let's do something fancy.
The printed name of the tripod is "magrail bracing assembly".
There's a trick, though. A printed name is just that, a nickname to be printed. It isn't a synonym that a player can use. We'll want the thing we print to work, of course.
Understand "magrail bracing assembly" and "magrail" and "bracing" and "magrail assembly" and "bracing assembly" and “assembly” as the tripod.
There. If our testers try other synonyms, we will be sure to add them if we can!
Next time, we'll want to start on actions. After all, we have a gun and a mount, so we will want to put this together. But as a teaser, here's one rule. We said in the description that the gun is heavy, right? Let's stop players from taking it.
Instead of taking the railgun: say "The railgun is too bulky and heavy to carry around. You could probably lift it long enough to mount it on a tripod or drag it a few feet. You presently have no way to get it out of this room.".
There! The player will be prevented from taking the railgun, and will be told that they cannot take it from the room. It's good to let players know when something is impossible, unless making this determination is part of the game portion of your IF. Different works of IF have different quantities of game. This is something that authors are always trying to balance in their work. There's no magic ratio. What is ideal will vary from author to author.
Output
>x gun This is the newest prototype, able to toss a wad of metal through an armored tank. That is, if the tank doesn't explode first. It is quite large, and is too heavy to fire without a capable tripod mount. That's to say nothing of the recall involved. Since it is not production ready, bare wires and circuits are visible up and down the assembly. >take it The railgun is too bulky and heavy to carry around. You could probably lift it long enough to mount it on a tripod or drag it a few feet. You presently have no way to get it out of this room.
Next time, I will introduce actions and action processing. I think that I'll try to do this maybe three times a week? We'll see how it goes. As always, feel free to AMA.
Here’s my note before I’ll get started….
(NO COPYING OR PLAGIARIZING FROM ME AND ONE OF MY CLOSEST FRIEND’S WORK! THAT INCLUDES OUR CHARACTERS, DESIGNS, STUFF, ETC. IMPOSTERS AND SEXBOTS ARE NOT WELCOME TO FOLLOW MY BLOG WHATSOEVER! 😡 That will be all….I mean it.)
Mash-up style review - Glass Screen Pro, StylusHome Stylus Pens, and JETech Case for my iPad 5th Generation device (and other of my devices)
Hey guys! Consider this will be my last post for this week of March; especially working hard to observe I had when checking this items I’ve owned now. (Also, just in case if I got nothing for today’s last “On This Day” post share. Sorry. 😅)
It’s for my second iPad device that I’ve hoped to give a good upgrade or a good clean. Thankfully after ordering from Amazon.com with my mom; almost until I got the right sized tablet case days later. So yeah….😅
Link Here #3
What that being said though, It’s finally time when going through my mash-up style review. So sorry for taking so long; that includes having our cable connection problem from past weeks. Just a thought, but still.
Link Here #4
Anyways, I got it through recording while setting things up for good measure. However, I put aside of my Fintie tablet case due to “accidental ordering” that I’ve mentioned. I’ll be keeping it unless I can get my own iPad Air soon. We’ll see. Now on with this review of March 2023. Or at least while assembling things for my second iPad device.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
⬆️ 1st through 4th Images (from 1:18 or more to 1:30 P.M.)
First off is where I started back in March. 7th. This is the Glass Screen Pro Protector from one of my packages I’ve unboxed. Though not the first where I wanted to installed at my device’s screen; which happens I’d use for my Samsung Tab E back in 2019. ⬇️
Link Here #5
Now years later though, I’ve got the same thing that also compatible for my second iPad device. It also helped to prevent from dirt, germs, or scratches to high resolution display. At least when reading the front cover or online sites, but nice details to remember. Anyways, I unboxed this while getting started to installing my iPad’s screen. Though I’ve been through this before when doing other of my tablet and video game handheld devices.
Good thing where I followed through instructions by using guide stickers, one cleaning wipe and a cloth to set up. Once it completed by few minutes later, my second iPad’s screen is secured very well. Looking at it, it was pretty nice after being careful of installation. I’ll be saving the full picture after this review is done.
⬆️5th through 9th Images (started at 3:01 to 3:20 P.M. after unboxing and close-ups)
Now for something different where I moved on to my second item to unboxed. This here was my new magnetic stylus pens from the brand “StylusHome.” It even sell other different pens and accessories if you’re interested. However, I picked with those pens that I’m going with; especially how it looks like any luxury pens while holding them. Nice!
Unlike where I used to work with my “Blackweb” stylus; in terms of coloring, some sketching, or swiping through apps. ⬇️
Link Here #6
Once I've opening this case itself, I have one each black and white pens separate; pre-installed with magnetic tips sealed that I've mentioned before. It also came with four replacement parts to install in case of losing them, a cleaning cloth, a manual book, and the warranty card. Don't expected to have USB cables to charge these pens up; unlike with my "Blackweb" pens that it still working as of today. I'll see I can check it back for my other post soon.
As for this new pens however, they're pretty fine to use without any power buttons on. Unless you'll be looking for other "StylusHome" stylus that does need charging batteries. Though what I have was good looking standard pens that I would needed to be careful when using. Which is why where going to the next part below as I tested out later. ⬇️
Tumblr media
⬆️ 10th Image (ending at 3:48 P.M.)
I went to my PicsArt app minutes later and test out at least with my one stylus pen. This here was my drawling lines I have so far, but doing in both different tips. Regardless which tips suits better to use for drawing/sketching stuff, I pick with the clear disc tip kind. I putted on top next to the below of my second drawing line; while using the fiber tip. They’re not bad, but slightly different in comparison that I would’ve do more of it. However, it’s best I can still use the clear disc tip for hoping of better art tracing experiences. Though only to get closer while tracing. Whatever works.
Good to know my “StylusHome” pens works well that I’m getting started on further art projects later on. Also it good on swiping onscreen (to other tablets and devices) whether using Google app or YouTube app through searches. Well, I usually go with my fingers; especially good for tracing through art sketches from previous times.
⬆️11th through 18th Images (On March. 11th; started at 5:55 P.M. before bedtime)
And finally this one; though waiting about few days til the 11th of March. Unlike where I “accidentally” ordered the Fintie tablet case, this here was the right size that I would’ve looking for. It came from the “JETech” brand that sells different cases, screen protectors, and other accessories. I helped with my mom to pick the right size for my second iPad that thankfully fits. Its design was made with faux leather material and having a sleep/wake function when opening and close the magnetic cover. As its fit though, Just wanted to make sure to check on the back bottom of my tablet’s model number. Mine was “A1822”; so after checking on what’s on the box, it support that as well. Nice. 😉👍
I also wanted to point out the color of the tablet case itself; which is black, even if I would’ve go something a bit nice or unique. However, appreciate the looks I’ve picked up with. Not only that, it also folds in different position for viewing or working while doing on art stuff. You know what’s coming when sharing this post I got.
My Thoughts:
Do apologies for the long wait I’ve worked up, but worth to check out my three items for the first time. After ordering from Amazon.com; though later when ordering the right sized tablets case was approved. I like the way while hoping to give a good clean upgrade for my second iPad device, but also using with my new stylus pens for 2023. Do hope I’ll be sure to take care of it.
Hope you guys enjoy this review I’ve came up. Again just to note, I’m leaving my Fintie tablet case out until further notice. Mostly if getting my first iPad Air tablet device soon. Who knows?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
⬆️ 19th through 21st Images (On March. 26th at 5:00 P.M.) (Bonus)
As I promised, here’s a closer look of my second iPad device; after installing with the screen protector and my “JETech” brand tablet case. Pretty nice, huh? Very appreciated after ordering from Amazon.com; alongside with my “StylusHome” pens. Anyways, see you guys on April 2023!
Links for these items we’ve ordered from Amazon.com ⬇️
Nice commander you've got there. Would be a shame if someone were to... Snipe them...
Jokes aside the Deathmarks are supposedly much better unit in 10th compared to how they fared in 9th. I had 3 Immortals sprues in total and assmebled 1 as Immortals so I went with Deathmarks for the 2nd one.
I'll build the 3rd as Immortals again but probably give them the other weapon option.
The kit is nice and easy simple but suffers from some issues.
1st - you can probably see it on this photo. The shoulder plates have noticeable gap in them. With Immortals I suspected that it was my fault as I scraped off the sprue connecting bit quite hard - I thought I might have got a bit too much off. This time I was careful and only gently cut the remaining bit and sanded it lightly... There's still a gap. Well... I'll fix it with putty in a few days.
2nd - the arms. By the Emperor. I don't remember having such issues with the Immortals but Deathmarks had some ridiculous arm placement on those minis. The gun barrel is long and the arms are short. The right arm is molded onto the gun and you stick it under the shoulder plate. The left arm is separate and you stick it under it's shoulder blade while connecting it to the molded hand under the gun barrel... Which is easier to say than do. It's hard to reach, you need to really twist the gun and the arm around to find the right angle - meaning that you need to have three separate bits covered in glue and put them together all at once... And hold it like that for some 20-30 seconds...
Okay... My goal to finish all the Necron minis before the year's end is closer to finish.
All that's left is the:
Remaining 5 Immortals (Not started - I'll probably do those next as it's just a standard build).
Indomitus Overlord (Not started - I might do slight repose but nothing major).
Indomitus plasmancer (Not started - IDK what to do with this guy yet)
Two cryptothralls (I'll switch around parts between them to get some variety)
Three more Skorpekh Destroyers (I have them cut and ready to assemble - I'll see if I have the patience for another repose of those).
Skorpekh Lord (Half Assembled - I need to find a way to bend his cables to fit reposed arms)
Canoptek Reanimator (Half assembled - the same issue as with the Skorpekh Lord + need to do a nice scenic base)
Put on the remaining magnets on Ghost Ark, Canoptek Wraiths and Tomb Blades. Otherwise those models are finished.
I've got Doomstalker on the way to the local store. I might run into the same issues as with reanimator when trying to repose it. We'll see.
Progress on the wire electric motor that I started building here! It still doesn't run but it's looking a lot more motor shaped!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Full explanation below the cut, to avoid getting too long. But the short version: I built a modular housing, eight electromagnets, and spinning electrical contacts! Out of nothing but wire! And they all work! The only problem is that the power distribution module has too much friction, so the motor can't actually spin up yet. But I'm working on it!
I built the entire assembly to come apart into separate segments, so that I can build and repair them individually. I figured this would save me time and effort. It also required me to VERY PRECISELY align a lot of rails and sockets. Wire is notoriously flexible and bad at being precisely aligned! But in the end I prevailed. And the result looks really cool as well as being functional, which is always fun.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The basic design is an axle with two electromagnets spinning inside a hexagon of six driving electromagnets (middle segment). I also need to get power into and out of the axle, which requires two spring-loaded contacts (the square segment on the right). Finally, I need to change which magnets are receiving power as the axle rotates. That's the segment on the left with the commutator ring in the middle. It's also the bastard which doesn't work.
The problem is friction. I built literally EVERYTHING myself, from scratch. That includes winding the electromagnet coils (and building the steel spools that I wrapped them around) and building a bunch of sliding contacts. And all those parts work! The electricity gets where it needs to go and the magnets magnetize and try to spin the axle. But my magnets are too weak to overcome the friction in my distributor segment. I've already tried two distributor designs, but there's still too much.
I think I need to make the distributor ring smaller. If the contact point is closer to the axle the friction torque will be less even if the friction force is the same. So that's probably my next step.
But yeah! So far so good! I've gotten so much further with this whole project then I expected I'd be able to manage! An entire electric motor from wire...
Aqua Teen Hunger Force #69: “Boston” | Unaired; leaked January 31, 2015
That’s right, I’m covering it. It didn’t air on Adult Swim… in fact, it didn’t air at all. More accurately, if the leaked file is anything to go off of, it was never properly completed. What we have here is an assembly cut with a nearly-finished soundtrack (a narration in particular sounds like a temporary track, for example) and some animation that is complete or close-to-complete. Some of it is barely animated at all, with still images subbing in for animated ones. To call this “unaired’ technically bumps up against one of my pet peeves of referring to unfinished media or never-filmed scripts as “unaired”, implying that they exist in an airable state. This doesn’t seem to.
In “Boston”, Master Shake attempts to drum up publicity for his failing online auction (he’s trying to sell Meatwad) by taking Meatwad to Boston and sticking him under an overpass with harmless magnetic lights attached to him as an advertisement for himself, I guess. Frylock cheerily points out that they are “energy efficient, and harmless to humans” and praises Shake for being so thoughtful. The promotion fails, but the ghost of Paul Revere shows up and urges the Aqua Teens to visit with the Ghost of Benjamin Franklin. He buys Meatwad and files him with a kite, causing Meatwad to get struck by lightning over and over. Benjamin Franklin is notably not voiced by Dana Snyder, effectively keeping the Aqua Teen universe separate from the Saul/Young Person’s Guide universe (GOOD!).
The resulting fiery explosions from Meatwad getting zapped by lightning is mistaken for a bomb going off. The show actually cheekily goes out of it’s way to have Baltimore, NOT Boston, be the city who sees the explosions and mistake them for a bomb. Baltimore is populated by Johnny Unitas, Earl Weaver, and the cast of the musical Hairspray. The Aqua Teens are tossed out of Boston as a result.
Shake spends all of his Meatwad money on a large lite-brite with a bunch of dynamite strapped to it, and attacks Carl’s house with it. This is portrayed the same way it would be in a deadly serious drama film, with music probably lifted from Munich or something (I genuinely don’t know what the reference is if there is a specific one, sorry!). A bunch of bomb squad/swat teamers show up and shoot Carl further to death, after announcing “let’s make this worse than it already is”. They mistake Shake’s sandwich for a bomb, but then Shake explodes. Turns out Shake was a bomb. We pull out to reveal the Mooninites, dressed like Al Qaeda members, watching this on TV from a cave hide-out. Show ends with Ignignokt about to saw his own head off to intimidate his enemies.
This episode was leaked in 2015, and was supposedly being prepped for release according to Dana Snyder and Carey Means. I’m not sure if they just said that to make the leaker feel bad. Some wiki I read said that they claimed it was a week away from being released. I don’t know, I guess this theoretically could’ve been completed and released in the span of a week. Maybe they were planning to release the rough-cut as is? Who knows.
Another thing I’m not clear on is whether or not this episode was intended to be the season premiere. A lot of episode guides that list this episode seem to think so. It makes enough sense. Interestingly enough, this episode is meant to be counted for the sake of their “100th” episode, though you could reasonably count the “Deleted Scenes” special as two episodes or maybe even count the movie.
This episode is reasonably funny, and it’s a shame it never got completed. It would have been the first episode completed in the HD format, but it currently only exists as a 360p bootleg file. I’d be really curious to see how they navigated certain bits for the final broadcast version; this episode exists in an uncensored state and has some rather uncouth characters using some pretty nasty slurs by today’s standards. The only thing resembling an official release we got from this episode was the Volume 5 DVD set included bits of artwork from it on the gatefold case.
Here’s some splashback from my Rainn Wilson tirade
I share your hatred for rainn wilson. I actually think he's a real thorn in that otherwise perfect Nite Live episode. However, I like the numbers sketch. I think about "numbers just for men" a lot. It tickles me...pink!
You know, I was probably harsher on that sketch for superficial reasons. It’s a perfectly good sketch and he’s perfectly fine in it. It’s my problem, not their problem, that I see that guy’s face and it immediately makes me scowl. If I could do it all over again, I would have never listened to those Office commentary tracks. I could have done ANYTHING ELSE with my time.
Different Types Of Bearings
The machinery in the industries is constructed from extremely small parts. These components are put together to create functional equipment. Today, we'll discuss one of the significant minor components of such machinery. We'll speak about bearings today.
Tumblr media
Bearings are a little but significant component. Depending on our needs, many bearing types are offered. It is employed to limit any part's degree of freedom. It provides a specific component with the specified direction. The drawer on your computer table is the most straightforward example, where a bearing allows a component to move linearly. Bearings reduce friction between two pieces by removing direct contact between them. Additionally, it takes less power or energy to remove a part as a result. Let's now talk about the many sorts of bearing.
Types of Bearings:
Ball Bearings
The most popular kind of bearing is the ball bearing. It is made up of tiny metal balls called Races that are positioned between two metal rings. The Cage assembly is used to maintain the location of balls as well. Ball bearings lose less energy because of the lower rolling friction compared to sliding friction. The outside races are immobile, but the inner races and balls can freely revolve. The outer races are attached to a motor, and the shaft is placed inside the inner races.
Advantages:
Reduce your resistance.
Simple to replace components
Less expensive
Manage heavy loads
Lengthy life
Disadvantages:
Shocks could cause it to break.
Little loud
Roller Bearings
Similar to ball bearings, which are engineered to support a load while minimizing friction, are roller bearings, often referred to as rolling-element bearings. Instead of employing balls to keep the bearing's moving sections apart, roller bearings transmit loads using cylinder-shaped rolling elements. Single or several rows of rolling elements may be present in these adaptable bearings; numerous rows can greatly increase radial load capacity. Additionally, the use of various roller shapes can lessen friction even more while supporting radial and axial loads.
Advantages:
Low resistance
High capacity for load
Simple to maintain
Disadvantages:
Very expensive
Noisy
Linear Bearings
The linear bearing is used to provide linear motion to any component and has balls or rolling components between two races. Sliding doors, cabinet drawers, etc. are some examples of linear bearings in their most basic form.
Jewel Bearings
It is employed in applications where there are tiny shafts, such as in timepieces and meters. It is much smaller than other bearings and operates much more efficiently. It is made of particular components.
Plain Bearings
It is the most basic kind of bearing. It does not have any rolling components and only has a bearing surface. In the bearing hole, the shaft is turning. More sliding friction than rolling friction is provided by it. Shaft rotation inside the bearing surface is an illustration of it.
Fluid Bearings
These revolutionary bearings are currently taking the place of metal bearings. Here, two elements that reduce friction come into touch with the fluid. Due to fluid pressure, two elements never come into touch and always remain separated. Compared to other metal bearings, it offers extremely quiet operation and extremely little vibration.
Magnetic Bearings
Magnetic bearings utilize the principle of magnetic levitation to maintain the airborne position of moving parts. The fact that the speed of the spinning element has no upper limit makes this bearing highly well-liked.
There are two different kinds of magnetic bearings:
Active Magnetic Bearings
In the Active kind, we employ an electric magnet to pull the shaft back to the center as it travels out of place.
Passive Magnetic Bearings
We employ permanent or fixed magnets, which are challenging to design, in the passive kind.
