Chibi Goldenheart and Nimona in Oscars 2024 outfits.

3/16/2024. No pencil underdrawings. Platinum Preppy fountain pen, using Noodler's Ink. Colored with Copic markers and ShinHan Art Touch markers. Clean up with white-out and digitally in Krita.

I was rushing to draw, 6 minutes before midnight, so I could still say I restarted my daily drawings on the 16th. So I had no plans, and just started drawing without thinking. The Magical March drawing challenge is still going on this month, so I originally was going to draw Ballister as a "magical boy"/"maho shonen". I ended up basing it on the outfit that Ballister's actor Riz Ahmed wore to the 2024 Oscars. But then I got lazy and ended up not adding all the embellishments to make it a "magical boy" outfit. Apparently, I wasn't lazy enough to not draw 2 other characters though. lol I got the buttons and coat front wrong on Ambrosius, and I was drawing directly in pen, so I couldn't fix it. But Ambrosius's outfit is based on what his actor Eugene Lee Yang wore to the 2024 Oscars. Nimona's outfit is based on what ND Stevenson wore to the 2024 Oscars.

Yet, much like how ice is to fire; he too can melt, whether by berating him for his actions of torment or just a simple fire spell.

Grieg: Teenage boy (seems a little older than Sara, about the same age with Barda), with mint-milk-colored(?) hair. Likes clothes with little frog elements. Musik in Maho-Shonen style.

Elgar: About the same age as Grieg. Likes puppies. Musik also in Maho-Shonen style. (Actually they are an idol group too.)

Handel: A woman who is about the same age as Bach. She is the producer of Grieg and Elgar. Friend of Bach, but also a competitor.

Berlioz: Red hair, daily dresses like a subculture lover(?), but Musik is improved maid dress.

Germi：Transparent body, looks like a ghost, also likes an employee who have been squeezed by the company for a long time.

Want a spicy RWBY opinion? I don't like Ruby's Vol 1-3 design. I know it's iconic, but 90% of the time it just looks like a black blob. Not to mention it's obviously inspired by anime "lolita vampires" (my mind first goes to Rachel Alucard from Blaz Blue)

Which is nothing like Ruby actually acts like. Ruby is a typical Shonen/Maho Shoujo hyperactive hopeful protagonist. I know Monty actually fought for this design, but I feel like it's actually the weakest of the original four.

I can definitely see that. The Rachel comparison is especially apt given the obvious influence Blazblue has on RWBY (Qrow is, design wise, Ragna but drunk une).

That's actually a recurring issue in early RWBY- some elements don't work due to either Rule of Cool or the writers inexperience. Like Ports chastising of Weiss as being a spoiled princess fails when you learn she lacked what even Ruby and Yang had- a loving home.

As for my spicy RWBY take- Your taste may vary but I say Tai was right to call out Yang on her anger issues, that he was spot on and that Yang fucked up in regards to Adam

I just realized there are no Madoka Magica Funko Pops.

I was thinking again how some Western IP fans often say "there are Pops of everything, but the same cant be said of Nendoroids". Which is ironic to anime fans like me, because from my otaku perspective, Funko Pops seem to not have the IPs i want, while Nendoroids do. But i usually have to cite anime considered niche to Western audiences---like Natsume's Book of Friends or My Next Life As a Villainess---stuff that won't get picked up by Toonami, non Shonen genre series. Even in anime, the Shonen genre is extremely popular. But i just realized, Madoka Magica is also very popular...for like the past decade. Multiple spinoffs, another movie coming soon, so much merch, and inspiring the proliferation of a whole subgenre, "dark magical girls". (Other previous maho shojo were also dark, but they didn't kick off the tidal wave of new dark maho shojo series becoming a trend, as strongly as PMMM did.) Funko has been making some anime Pops---even Yuri On Ice Pops!---so why no Madoka Magica? I don't have a burning need to buy Madoka Magica Pops, i just thought it's odd they dont exist already.

Crunchyroll Expo 2022: tutte le novità emerse dal grande evento annuale della piattaforma di anime in streaming per eccellenza

Svelati tantissimi annunci, trailer e sneak peak delle serie in arrivo nei prossimi mesi e nel corso del 2023.   

Nei precedenti articoli ho condiviso con voi i nuovi trailer di “Bungo Stray Dogs” e “Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro”, che hanno aperto il Crunchyroll Expo 2022 confermando il ritorno della due serie, con le rispettive nuove stagioni televisive, per gennaio 2023. Per le due serie appena citate ho optato per il classico aggiornamento in singolo, non pensando, ingenuamente, che Crunchyroll avesse in caldo una marea di annunci e video da presentare durante la convention di tre giorni. My bad.

Sia per comodità vostra, che per preservare la poca sanità fisica e mentale che mi rimane, ho allora deciso di buttare giù un mega post omnicomprensivo con un po’ tutte le novità emerse durante il grande evento, che quest’anno si è diviso fra anteprime mondiali, appuntamenti in presenza e online (uno dedicato addirittura all’Italia!), radunando fan e addetti ai lavori presso il San Jose McEnery Convention Center. Mi ci è voluto più del previsto, ma ecco a voi il riassunto completo!

Mostrato un primo teaser trailer per la seconda stagione della serie animata, basata sulla la commedia fantasy isekai di Miku. 

Con il video è stato annunciato un cambio di staff: i nuovi episodi saranno diretti da Shige Fukase e il regista della prima stagione, Yoshiaki Okumura, farà da supervisore. Al posto di Minami Eda, al character design troviamo invece Iroha Mizuki e Nobuhide Hayashi.

L’adattamento sarà curato dagli studi Magic Bus e EMT Squared, che insieme hanno già prodotto “Shoot! Goal to the Future”. 

Sugar Apple Fairy Tale 

Annunciato il simulcast della serie animata ispirata alla light novel fantasy sentimentale di Miri Mikawa, che sarà diretta da Yohei Suzuki (DanMachi: Sword Oratoria, Kiyo in Kyoto: From the Maiko House) e realizzata presso lo studio J.C.STAFF (DanMachi, The Duke of Death and His Maid).

Annunciato il simulcast della serie animata che verrà tratta dalla light novel comedy fantasy isekai di Hiru Kuma. La produzione dell’adattamento è stata svelata da poco, quindi per ora non si hanno dettagli riguardo al progetto. 

Tower of God (Stagione 2)

Annunciata ufficialmente la produzione della seconda stagione di una delle serie Crunchyroll Originals più di successo, basata sul popolare fumetto coreano firmato da SIU, edito in Italia da Star Comics.  

The Rising of the Shield Hero (Stagione 3)

Presentata una prima locandina ufficiale per la terza stagione della serie animata, tratta dalla popolare light novel fantasy isekai di Yusagi Aneko, la cui versione manga è stata portata in Italia da J-POP Manga. 

Per il momento, non abbiamo ancora una finestra di debutto, ma anche a questo giro è confermato il passaggio di testimone alla regia: dopo aver visto avvicendarsi Takao Abo (22/7) e Masato Jinbo (Restaurant to Another World), il prossimo regista della serie sarà Hitoshi Haga (Star Wars: Visions - La sposa del villaggio).
