i find it funny how i literally dont have an opinion on makotoaigis… like i will rb art of them together but i dont do it thinking theyre romantic or anything i just like seeing them together. if it's drawn with actual romance in mind then that's cool too, just not how i'd see it. either way i like them together.

i love both of their characters individually.. which is also peculiar considering a large part of the reason why i like them is their relation and devotion to one another

i think they go beyond what is romantic and platonic theyre just soulmates to me… its enough. they dont need to put a name to it. i will still get emotional over that scene and that other scene and still would want to buy merch of them together it doesnt have to mean anything... they're just there for eachother forever. in every lifetime. to ME.

Just a small guide to help newcomers understand all the names and nicknames/fannames for their fav Persona MCs. Keep in mind this is main games/nameless MC's only (so I won't list Aigis in the P3 but I will mention Maya as well as the notes at the bottom, this is due to how I structured P2 vs P3 sections) (Edit: may add to this list later but it's pretty complete for now)(Edit 2: Note that Shunjiko translates as Protagonist/Hero/Main character):

Persona 3 (Female):

P3FeMC or just FeMC (sometimes/old variations FeShe or MShee): Shorthand for (Persona 3) Female Main Character. Since SMT if/Tamaki, Maya, and Aigis have fixed names (in Persona canon), this one is usually who people mean when they hear "FeMC." Though some might use this word as a "what if" for P4/5/6 having a female protagonist. But it's usually for the P3 one.

Leader: Generic Name for FeMC in DramaCDs and such

(P3) Heroine/Josei Shunjiko : Japanese generic title

Hamuko (Arisato): The Japanese fanname, IF Arisato is used, it's derived from the P3MC's manga name.

Minako Arisato: The Western Fanname, derived from Minato Arisato but making it "ko" since a lot of females use that name (note: Minato is actually a unisex name to begin with)

Makoto Yuki: P3MC's movie name. SOME adopted this name after the movie was release due to being a unisex name)

Kotone Shiomi: Stage Play Name (*only official name she's gotten, and unlike P3/4/5MCs whose names were taken from anime adaptions, she's the only one to have her's taken from the stage play).

Door-Chan: (English) Western fandom joke nickname, spoiler reasons.

Chair-kun: In reference to the original teaser for P5 (there were a lot of chairs)

Pego: Fan nickname for P5MC, usually english fandom from what I've seen. Stands for Pe(rsona) and Go (aka 5 in japanese). It's a very common one and I...literally forgot TT0TT

Akiren: Alternative fan nickname for P5MC, for fans that like both Akira and Ren's names but don't want to choose I suppose.

Persona 5 X:

P5XMC: Short hand for Persona 5X Main Character

(P5X) Hero/Shunjiko: Japanese generic title

Wonder: His In-game code name

Fun facts/other notes:

FeMC is the only one who breaks the streak of using anime names (due to not having an anime adaptations), it also causes P3 to cross between two different kinds of supplementary canon. (see more on this reblog)

Not all of P4's various stage names are known, namely (haha) the first stage play. If you dig you can find all of the 2nd ones (I should really post that list one day DX)

Despite P1MC not having a consistent chosen name, Atlus seems fond of Naoya, specifically using Naoya/Kazuya together (Devil Survivor 1 manga and P5 Mementos Quest mission) with characters. If you read the P1 manga you'd understand why they put those two names together.

Kitaro and Hamuko were used as place holder text for the P3MC and FeMC chars names for PQ2.

Banchou was used for P4MC's mocking title card in Arena/Ultimax, it was translated as "Kingpin" in english.

Some other chars I didn't listed as having "Leader" could very well be called "Leader" at some point.

Shin Kanzato is the MC to the anime Persona: Trinity Soul, a series that takes place 10 years after P3. It's in it's own separate canon from the P3 we know, Edit: but I'm mentioning him because of it being the original sequel of P3 for a brief period.

Aigis' name obvie can't be changed just like Maya, but she is the MC of both The Answer, as well as the Aigis: The First Mission cellphone game. (sometimes fans refer to her as a "toaster"...bc she's a robot)

Edit: Anna is the MC of P2's novel adaptations iirc, and Naoto and Yosuke are protagonists of their own books/novels/manga. There are most likely others but I will probs end it there (as I just wanna stick with games/original MCs and having Aigis/Kiba/Shin was a bit dicey)

Similar to Pego, P3MC may also be referred to as Pesan, and P4MC as Peyon. I haven't personally seen it (considering the other more prominent names they've had) but I wanted to list it just in case.

I personally DO NOT see the Protags as self inserts. I think they all have their own personalities. So I don’t really have any self insert ships were I ship them just because I want to date a character, but I do understand some people have those.

Akira and Goro are a massive call back to Tatsuya and Jun from Persona 2, and Tatsuya and Jun are written with the intent to be romantic. Though I think after the third semester I usually don’t have to explain why I feel like Akira and Goro is an obvious Ship, it’s one of those you can totally have a different preference but you understand what I'm getting at right?

I reeeally hope I don’t have to explain that Futaba and Akira are in sibling dynamic so Shipping them would be gross.

Kasumi’s infatuation with Akira makes ZERO SENSE. The only people who see through your delinquent deguise is Goro (because soulmates narrative foil) and Ryuji (who doesn’t see through he’s just a good boy who trusts everyone), so Kasumi seeing through it makes NO SENSE. If she were to follow anyone around saying “Senpei” I think it would be Makoto.

Rise’s feral one sided thirsty crush on Souji is very funny to me (and I love playing it for comedy) but I don’t think he would ever reciprocate it. Her love just feels a bit too superficial, and Souji has too many issues of not being seen for himself for me to like it as a Ship.

I do think Yukari had a crush on Minato and I think Minato would be willing to try dating her, but I feel their love languages would be too different and it would end in disaster. Minato seems like the little actions and subtle comfort where Yukari seems like she would want big romantic gestures (something Mitsuru would do for her).

I will say with all Persona Romance Routes I am very much not a Fan of the Pandering that is “Girl likes you for no real reason” (it’s honestly just a boring Romance to me) and would’ve liked if more of the Girls just weren’t Romanceable so we could just have more Male/Female Friendships. I feel (aside from the stand out VERY BAD ones) a lot of the Romance Routes aren’t that bad, just don’t mesh well with the Tone and Tension of the rest of the Game (they’re kind Mundane and Boring in comparison to the Relationships I ACTUALLY Ship). But my Opinion on Persona Romance Routes as a whole would be a completely different discussion than Ships.

Update cause I forgot:

It’s necessary to say this so I don’t get Canceled; Hamuko and Minato are Canonically Two Halves of the Same Soul, some people choose to see that as Siblings and some people choose to see that as Soulmates. I used to prefer Siblings but now I prefer Soulmates. Either is fine but don’t mix em is all.

When I say Kasumi I usually actually mean Sumire. Sorry it’s partly cause it’s a Spoiler and partly cause I never got in the Habit of calling her by her Real Name. So unless Specific Context assume when I say Kasumi I mean Sumire. I just don’t feel like going back and changing it everywhere I’ve said it.

As for my Hamuko/FEMC:

There's no competition since both she and Makoto are protective of each other and have always been together. She wishes that they weren't taken to different foster families, but there's nothing she can do about that. When they reunite somehow or in the afterlife, she's definitely going to make up for lost time, and be as loud and obnoxiously loving as possible. She adores her big brother to bits and even though she wears a happy mask, she wishes she could put it down and show how broken she is to her teammates and friends too. Only Yukari, Fuuka and Rio have ever seen her break down as they're her closest friends before meeting Aigis. She tells herself she has to be strong all the time around her senpais, but sometimes... she's too tired to fake that happy-go-lucky smile.

Shinjiro Aragaki’s Past + Future Storyline

This storyline will be told if Minako/Hamuko offered her life as the Seal--since Shinjiro would normally be dead in Minato/Makoto’s time as a leader, this is all an AU.

Birth to high school:

Shinjiro was born to Mai Aragaki and Hiroshi Aragaki. Shinjiro was premature when he was born, hence his mother having to let him be born via c-section and had to be in intensive care for the first few months of his life. While that all happened, Mai Aragaki died, while trying to recover from giving birth--they couldn’t find where all the blood in her body was going. This lead Hiroshi in becoming an independent father, who did his best to help raise Shinjiro. He had tried to find love, while Shinjiro grew up, but it just failed horribly. So, he focused on being the best father for Shinjiro--Shinjiro, himself, still loved his father and wanted to grow up like him.

However, the pressure of being a single parent took the toll on Shinjiro’s father in the end. He left a note for Shinjiro, stating that I cannot handle being alone with you. It’s not you, it’s me. I’m sorry and he was left with one of his father’s friend. Eventually, Shinjiro did not know what really happened with his dad--that he just left him was the gist of it--and he was brought to the orphanage. He met Akihiko and Miki Sanada there, and felt himself being able to relax in his friend’s warming nature. Shinjiro was happy again, just like he was before his father died.

But then, the fire happened at the orphanage and everything went a bit crazy. He tried his best to comfort Akihiko, with the lost of his sister, but he was then whisked away to another orphanage, further away from Akihiko. Shinjiro wasn’t one to complain, but he did have his moments of rage and attitude, only because he was taken further away from his friend. When he was around the age of 13, Shinjiro decided to leave the orphanage, since they really didn’t give a crap about him, and decided to live on the streets. At this point in time, he met up with Chidori, Jin, and Takaya. They were older than him (at least Takaya and Jin was), and was able to help keep him in line--even if their apartment wasn’t all the best, it was still a home, in Shinjiro’s eyes.

He did try to keep in contact with Akihiko, but it was just luck of the draw whenever they saw each other. Akihiko got himself and Shinjiro a phone, just to keep in contact if possible. He did have Shinjiro stay with him a couple nights, but overall? Shinjiro did very well adapting to homelessness, in a way. He was invited to stay in the dorms with Akihiko and Mitsuru. Awakening to his Persona when Mitsuru and Akihiko were unable to summon theirs, was something he couldn’t fantom--the pain, it felt like he was being left alone again. He didn’t have good control of his Persona, but tried his damnest.

This leads into high school and losing control of his Persona, killing Ken Amada’s mother. Which he was withdrawn for the next week or two--which lead to him being called back to Takaya and the others. He made sure he left no trace of him behind in the dorm. Akihiko and Mitsuru knew the reasoning, but it stung when he left them high and dry. Slowly, this leads to him being found by Yukari, Junpei, and Minako/Minato in the game.

Persona 3 events occurring here, to the end of the game.

Post P3P:

After the sacrifice Minako gave to become the Seal, and embracing the girl who saved his life all those months ago, Shinjiro...stays in the dorm for the rest of the month. He does weekly check up with the doctors--he isn’t really motivated to do much, since he didn’t realize what he was going to do with this life she gave him. So, he’s...conflicted on what to do. After the Abyss of Time events occurred, and with him getting his door (showing the moment Takaya and the others found him after running away from the orphanage), he starts to slowly open up and makes a promise to Mitsuru: he will go back to school and finish his last year of high school, so that the others could help him if he ever needs it. This leads to him praying he gets a different classroom than the others, which it does since Yukari and Junpei are in the same class and Shinjiro is in Fuuka’s class, to take over for Natsuki’s seat, ironically.

When they finally graduate, Shinjiro contemplates his life as he had no idea what to still do with his life. He, at the least, makes sure to stay in contact with Mitsuru Kirijo, Akihiko Sanada, Ken Amada, and Fuuka Yamagishi, knowing that they helped play an important role in his life. So, he notices one day that there was a couple kids putting up flies around the town, wondering what they could be up to. He takes the flyer and it reads that local children need tutor for big brother/sister program. Something inside of Shinjiro flips the switch on, and he decides to help these elementary school students with being the big brother and helping them with school and such. Of course, he takes on a side job at Hagakure, which then he becomes one of the cooks there and he treats the kids to ramen when they do well in school (like an A on a test or Straight A’s). Because Shinjiro just wants something good to happen to those kids.

After a year or two of doing that--and having Mitsuru help him get an apartment, because he doesn’t want to stay in the dorms (as well as he has to save up money cause he has nothing)--he realizes that he should be moving onto bigger and better things. Eventually, he moves to Inaba, not knowing murders had occur there just a year before moving there, and works at Aiya’s, thanks to the manager promising him a new job there. Of course, he’s sad that he has to leave the other children behind, but told them to help those who need it the most and all that emotional sap. 

Arena, Ultimax, and onwards:

Even though Shinjiro was in Inaba for both events, he only helped with the storyline in Ultimax. Only because Ken had his number and told him the others (Mitsuru, Akihiko, Aigis, and Fuuka) was in danger. Of course he sprung into action. With the small apartment he had, a small walk away from Aiya’s, he still uses his axe to battle and has much more control over Castor. Granted, his Persona did not evolve like the others did, but he didn’t care. He wasn’t even fully back to full health, after all the suppressants that have been in his body. He takes the situation and the fog calmly, knowing that he needed to find someone whom he knew and could team up with, even if he knew the area like the back of his hand. Eventually, he teams up with Ken + Koromaru. 

After all is said and done, he mentions to Mitsuru that he only wants to be an auxiliary member of the Shadow Operatives. He wouldn’t mind being a full time member, but he knew if he did, he might be more of a body guard than anything. So, he makes sure to stay in Inaba, for a while. He has a good job, still does what he did in Iwatodai over here for the kids in Inaba--people texted him like crazy to have their kids be tutored by him--and he weekly goes to the local animal shelter to play with the dogs. It is one of the ways he is able to destress. He does try his hardest NOT to adopt any animals because if he does, it’d be the Koromaru situation all over again. And he doesn’t want anyone to really be waiting for him in the end.

Shinjiro never really spends the time trying to look for his deadbeat dad. He has contemplated the idea of asking Fuuka, but couldn’t possibly bother her with something so stupid. Shinjiro really needs to be pushed to try to find him. Then again, sometimes in his gut tells him that he’s dead or dying. And that’s something Shinjiro really doesn’t want to think about.

Besides that, Shinjiro is single, as he is a bit too worried to jump into commitment so quickly. Only because he wants to be able to love someone the same way they could love him--he’s a big ass teddy bear, but he’s distant sometimes as well. Shinjiro takes a long time to fall in love but he loves his friends at least.

Other SL’s changed accordingly. -Marie is still present, and is more integrated into the story. She is one half of Izanami, and willingly erased her memories after seperation. She herself carries Fog with her, and appears...off. She has a too-long shadow, her smile’s a little too wide, her eyes a little too yellow, rain seems to follow her.  -Teddie is not a perv character. He’s close to the plot so I couldn’t write him out??? But he’s not as pervy as he is in canon, just a flirt. Also Teddie’s Bi, so jot that down.  -I really liked the concept that Rise’s non “Risette” personality was harsh and aggressive? So she’s really rough around the edges when she first meets the IT, only warming up to them after her dungeon is completed. Think Severa from FE13. -Overall, a lot more actual truth finding, a lot less homophobia and transphobia. Persona 5 rewrite, titled “Invitation To Freedom”!  -this is the one im most excited for HOLY S H IT -okay so, -redesigns for everyone’s phantom thief attire. especially the girls. Ann’s design is more like, a mix between her persona and Shego from Kim Possible? If that makes sense? Less dominatrix, more cutesy evil queen. Persona 3 - Arisato Siblings AU

Alternate Universe where Minato Arisato/Makoto Yuki and the FeMC from Persona 3 Portable are actually twins and both children do not die in the car crash that killed their parents. Unlike what I believe happened in Persona 3 Portable. 

Also I'm probably going to add more later if I think of any during or after PQ2. Or just in general.

In other words, that AU that is accepted by the fandom but not canon. But it should be Atlus you cowards!

I will refer to these two as Minato Arisato and Minako Arisato. 

If you prefer Makoto Yuki, then FeMC's name is Hamuko Yuki (Sorry, I wasn't sure what other me to use for this.) Or, if you prefer Sakuya Shiomi, then FeMC's name is Kotone Shiomi. 

- Minato is the oldest by two minutes. Minako says otherwise, but it's a lie and the two of them know it.

- When they were young they actually were pretty close, as most twins are. Only, their personalities were different. For one, Minako was more shy and reserved and Minato was much more friendly.

- But, after the car crash that killed their parents, Minato became more apathetic towards others excluding his sister who he became even more protective of. In response to Minato shutting away other people, Minako became much more friendly (and sassy) to step up for Minato. Originally, she just wanted him to smile again so she always tried her best at being nice and funny towards Minato and others, but this later became a part of her personality. 

- The twins kept moving from family member to family member as the two kept getting kicked out because of Minato's borderline suicidal actions and apathetic words, because Minato became extremely apathetic towards others minus his sister (who also started picking up his actions and also became somewhat depressed) family members would keep them until they couldn't take Minato anymore and, because Minato refused to leave his sister, both of the twins would move onto another family member. 

- Minato really stoped caring and even on trying to get to know his family members. Minako actually is thankful most of her family would take them in, but often forgets the family members who took them in, since they never stayed longer than a year.

- Until they came to the dorm. Then, things changed. Minako and Minato started to like being in the dorm. They met people that they liked and agreed: They actually liked it there. They wanted to stay.

- Minato was actually happy to be there. His apathy seemed to change into him just being reserved towards people. This, delighted Minako. Because for the first time in years, he wasn't acting like a cold-hearted asshole all the time to other people. 

- Minato and Minako are still field leaders, they just trade off every full moon. The other comes with the party, but it just a normal attacker. 

- Minato is quiet, but reliable leader. He's the type of leader that is very aware of his teammates despite him not acting like it. He maybe laided back and doesn't really give his opinion on the situation at hand, but he certainly shows an example of a leader. 

- Minako is like the cheerleader. She often encourages the group to do their best and get things done fast. But, like Minato, looks after her group. Despite her picking odd clothing choices and sometimes really crazy missions, she does these things (mostly) to help her team get stronger.

- Both of them have the Wildcard ability and both Elizabeth and Theodore look after both of them. Elizabeth is supposed to look after Minato, and Theodore is supposed to look after Minako. But the two Velvet Room Attendants mostly just share the two twins.

- Which, is really amusing. Imagine Elizabeth going out with Minako and Theodore is stuck with Minato. What happens between the four are actually super funny and often times really cool in retrospect.

- Get ready for cute siblings fights as leaders. Like, 

"Minato! What about this outfit? It would look cute on Yukari!"

"Yes, but she'd kill you if you asked her to wear it."

"Not if you asked her to wear it!" 

". . . Fair point."

Or, 

"Minato! Look at this shirt! It'd be perfect for Koromaru!"

"That's a good shirt. +10 agility, not bad. . . Minako, we don't have that kinda money."

"But it's cute!" 

"We need to buy something for Junpei! His armor is falling apart! If we don't get something better for him, we came here for no reason!"

"Oh my gosh you're right. I almost forgot!"

- The Twins teasing each other about their harems. That's it. That's the headcanon.

- Both Minato and Minako can be pranksters. Like, they do good pranks. One time, Minako asked Minato if they could play a prank on both Yukari and Junpei because both of them had gotten into a fight and wouldn't even talk to each other. And. . . Let's just say, Mitsuru, while amused at what the two did and pleased at the twins got Yukari and Junpei to start talking again, was not too happy at the mess they made.

- While both Minato and Minako live in the same dorm, they sleep in separate rooms, for obvious reasons. Which, Aigis is not too happy about since she want to protect both of them and it's hard to watch the both them sleep at the same time if they are in different rooms.

- Honestly they probably help one another with Social Links. Yukari's Social Link reversed? Minako is willing to try and help out Minato in fixing it. Akihiko being a little too reserved with Minako? Well, Minato will give it a shot to try and help.

- Speaking of which, Minato can actually make Social Links with his male teammates! Even Koromaru! He can't date them, but he still has the Social Links.

- Running into each other going to Social Links or when the other sibling is hanging out with that Social Link are awkward as heck. 

- "Minako, you hog. Let me hang out with Shinjiro! I wanna taste his cooking!" "Well, then, let me hang out with Mitsuru! You're keeping her all to yourself!"

- Minato and Minako have weird things they do as siblings that S.E.E.S. has somewhat picked up on. Like when Minako is down in the dumps, Minato will stay close to her and comfort her if need be. Now, EVERYBODY knows when Minako is upset and often will track Minato down to give her that comfort and they actually try and make her happy until such time as Minato arrives. And when Minato is down in the dumps, be prepared for the whole team, lead by Minako, to do the stupidest crap to get him to feel better. Like beat the Reaper in swimsuits and videotape it while doing some werid dance. 

- Also, twin jokes everywhere. Even Mitsuru will pull out those jokes. It's great.

-Overall, great shenanigans in the dorm with these twins around.

- Then crap went down. As in, Strega and Shuji Ikutsuki came and screwed everything up. Majorly. Minato closed himself off again, and often wouldn't let Minako do too much with others either in favor of keeping her close to him.

- Because of that, the two got into a huge fight. 

- Minako, who finally found people she wanted to stay with, refused to let her brother mess up the one place both of them agreed they wanted to stay in. Not like he did the last few times, Minako was not willing to give up her time with S.E.E.S. to Minato's apathetic nature. Minato, who after remembering the warning from Pharos, was not willing to lose his sister to fate. 

- And, the two drifted apart. Worse, S.E.E.S. could do almost nothing to fix the problem since they were having their own problems to deal with. Well, then Ryoji came into the picture. Ryoji, after being confused with the distant twins, got the two of them to make up temporarily. But then Ryoji figured out his true nature, and while it brought the two closer and got them to fully make it up to one another, got the two of them to become depressed again.

- Then they had to make a decision as to kill Ryoji or not, and after lots of thought, the two came to the same conclusion. And so did everyone else. 

- And so, they fought Nyx. And the two became the Great Seal. Minato became the Great Seal of Nyx, while Minako became the Great Seal of Time which prevents her brother's Seal from being messed with through timelines, as well as protecting other timelines from Nyx. Which, makes Elizabeth just a bit more miffed at the amount of power she needs.

what are your feelings on femc/hamuko in general? I always thought it was sweet that it was implied that aigis falls for the protagonist regardless of gender, even if their personalities are different because at the core protag is someone aigis wanted to protect

Haha tough question! I’ve got mixed feelings about FeMC because I’ve never played as her. On one hand I’m cool with her as her own independent character, but on the other it’s a bit of a bummer whenever someone compares the two and says Makoto is the inferior protag when… it is his story, after all. Luckily most people seem to love the two so that kind of comment is not as widespread!

So basically, I honestly wish FeMC had gotten her own game (aka her own story) so we could have had the Female Protag experience on its own rather than as an addendum to an already completed story, and thus splitting/sharing the spotlight with the already established MC ;____;

Yup yup! I agree totally with all of that. Darkness def would be a Metis DLC with Ryoji as one of the partners. I’d love to see them react to each other DX Same with Sho vs Minato/Hamu

Tbh, while I think P3 has more danceable songs in general than P5, and the dancers and dances are a bit better.....I think Atlus still could've been better with the song selection (really they should've had A LOT more songs). Here’s a list of at least 3 songs (tho I think 4 or 5 would work, esp since we could get more remixes). Hamu should’ve def been a main dancer (screw it let’s pretend Metis/Ryo were also main dancers too!)

Some songs will change, some will stay the same (Yukari, Junpei, and Fuuka I think mostly stay the same with some additions).

That’s not even me going into Arena/Ultimax or PQ2 music (or looking more into PQ1 music too), and probably barely scraping the surface for the movies tbh. They should’ve had 80-90% of the Reincarnation OST in P3D, those songs are def danceable u_u P3 has a lot of entries and a big library (as big as P4′s) and they could def remix to their hearts content.

YU: I wouldn’t say anyone’s battle strategy is really better or worse than the others.

YU: Naoya could tell you exactly which guns are the most effective against which demons, what the difference is between “expel” and “miracle” light spells, and even where his team members should be in relation to one another--but he’s pretty reckless, and he doesn’t pay much attention to his surroundings. He gets ambushed pretty often.

YU: The synergy in Tatsuya and Maya’s team is impressive--they can work together both for negotiation and to use more powerful spells. Tatsuya’s not so great at keeping up morale, though, and Maya’s even more reckless than Naoya.

YU: Makoto and Hamuko are polar opposites. Makoto lets the team use their best judgment for the most part and just gives vague orders, while Hamuko gives direct commands. They switch out a lot, so the team gets a pretty equal amount of both kinds of leadership. Because of that, the members have the skills to be just as effective fighting on their own. They work themselves and their team way too hard, though...

YU: Aigis follows Makoto’s example, but I think she has a bit of trouble with it.

YU: Akira can negotiate with Shadows, but he doesn’t get quite as much out of it as Naoya, Tatsuya, and Maya do. He brings in skills he learned outside of the Metaverse to make him more effective both in battle and in talking, and he can find opportunities to swap his team out in the middle of a fight. ...He should probably focus a bit less on showing off, though.

YU: I like to think I’m pretty adaptable. I mean, I led my team through the TV world, a tournament, and more dancing than most of us ever wanted to do. My team works together really well, even if we’ve been separated for a long time. ...I may have opened a chest full of Death once, though.

YU: It’s all in what works best for your team. I think we’ve all done a pretty good job.

i’m working on starters i promise but just a thought.... 

i feel like i should make separate verses for the different protags. esp since aigis’ development is so dependent on minato/hamuko (or makoto/minako since canon names are like that). i’m just playing through p3p again and really thinking just how hamuko’s different disposition changes the dynamic from the original feel of p3. and i think its really interesting to kind of think how sees is different since each side basically an au. while i think there is a fundamental part of aigis’ character that does not change between those stories- i do think it effects her which of the two serve as the leader. and i think there is a subtle change for all of the sees characters because of that. 

i’d love to really figure out just what the answer would be like on the femMC route. it would without a doubt be different, esp if you operate on a ng+ where shinjiro could be alive. the conflict would be the same but i think it would unfold differently then what we see in the fes male MC route.

Akihiko Sanada’s Past + Future Storyline

This storyline is mainly if Minato/Makoto dies–any differences will be in italics, signifying Minako/Hamuko differences from Akihiko’s life.

Birth up to middle school:

Akihiko was the only son, and first of two children, born to Hikari Sanada and Mamoru Sanada. He was a healthy boy, always active and barely cried--he was a wonderful child. When he was starting preschool, Miki, his younger sister, was born. Of course, Akihiko wanted to play with her over and over, but with her being so little, he couldn’t--which lead to temper tantrums, but his mom got those under control. A year and a half later, while on their way home from visiting some family friends, they got into a car accident. His parents died while he was left with Miki--Akihiko was about 7 and Miki was about 4. They were brought into a nearby orphanage, which lead them to meeting Shinjiro Aragaki.

All there were able to link up and be friends because they all lost their parents. So, they were steadfast friends and loved each other very much. Akihiko and Miki went to school, along with Shinjiro, as they left together--they basically did everything together. The only way they got separated was the fire that destroyed the orphanage, which also killed Miki. Akihiko was devastated, which lead Shinjiro to watching him for the longest time, until Akihiko got adopted by an older couple in their 30s. It took Akihiko a week or so to really warm up to the new people, seeing as they made a little shrine for Miki, so that Akihiko could still see her no matter what.

For that, he opened up to his caretakers and got back into the groove of things. He did try his hardest to keep up with Shinjiro, but it seemed that he half-heartedly try. He began to wonder if he was homeless--but, with him being busy in school and athletics, he barely had the time to think or find him. And he felt horrible because he couldn’t find any good friends like Shinjiro.

One day, Mitsuru Kirijo came up to him, while he was at Gekkoukan Middle, and talked to him about moving into the dorms with her. He, of course, talked to his family about this. Akihiko hated to leave people behind, but made sure no one was ever in the dark. So, with his family perfectly fine with this--since it’s closer to the school, it lead to him asking if Shinjiro could come live with them. Mitsuru didn’t mind and was okay with the idea--if it made Akihiko happy, she was happy, too.

After the first year of living in the dorm, all three of the original members of SEES were doing well with their Personas--that is, until the unfortunate moment with Ken Amada’s mother dying. Shinjiro went AWOL, and he only told Akihiko where he normally would be on certain days. He didn’t want to be found, not after Castor lost control like that. So, it was just Akihiko and Mitsuru in the dorms for the rest of their second year of high school. Yukari Takeba joins, making the group a bit bigger, and leads straight into what happens in Persona 3.

Post P3:

Akihiko decides to travel--doing online classes, per Mitsuru, because he could get executed for not finishing up some college at least--and explore the world, for Shinjiro’s sake. And well, he’s got the money from his parents inheritance (couldn’t get it until he was 18), and thought that traveling might help him relax a bit. After all that has happened, he started in the lower parts of Japan, going to the Philippines, Russia, Germany, Egypt, Brazil--to be honest, the poor guy has lost so many times on how many places he has been. And it was all under a year, too. But, he takes a month or two to recoup because of the bear attack in Russia. He didn’t get the clue to not fuck with the bears, and wellllll... the stupid fool got scars on his chest for it.

He comes back to Iwatodai, once Mitsuru calls him out of the blue. Of course he looks ridiculous, but is still willing to help her out, along with Aigis and Fuuka. He realizes that he was already tired of exploring the world, in that one year, that he wanted to at least explore what Japan had for him. He focused on studies, becomes a full-fledged member of the Shadow Ops, and stays in Iwatodai, finishing up an associate’s degree in criminal justice. He realizes that he might want to be a cop, with something dragging him towards the idea--perhaps his mom or dad was a cop? He had no memory of what they did, since he was so little when they died. But, he does consider the idea for a month before joining back with Mitsuru.

Ultimax + onward:

Once the whole situation in Inaba finally calms down, he listens to Kurosawa-san and actually decides on focusing back on his schooling. He gets a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and decides to enroll in the local police academy. Akihiko knows he could most definitely get in as on of Mitsuru’s own protective services, which he does do once in a blue moon, but for now--he wants to be able to focus on trying to save people who couldn’t help Ken or Shinjiro or himself out back long ago.

He becomes good friends with Chie Satonaka and Naoto Shirogane, after a year of training and learning more stuff near Inaba. He’s a cop who bounces around to other stations if they need help because of short staff or otherwise. He does bother Shinjiro weekly for his usual beef bowl nights, because he actually liked doing that when they were in high school and when they were in SEES. For now, he tries to take it easy and just explore the whole situation around Shibuya (with the Phantom Thieves) for a couple years, since the shutdowns occur. Mitsuru makes sure he is stationed there safely.

Akihiko lives a fairly normal life--working out on weekends, job in the mornings, and the occasional outing to try new food establishments. He makes sure to keep in contact with his adoptive family, because he’s so damn nice--and he gives them a little money, for all the time he was able to stay with them (like, 50,000 yen weekly) or he just helps them fix stuff up they know they can’t fix. He keeps in contact with Mitsuru Kirijo, Ken Amada, Shinjiro Argaki, and Fuuka Yamagishi. But, it’s usually the others who check up on him. As of now, he is single and is just living the bachelor life, as of now. He has thought about settling down and starting a future, but it’s really far off and not in the foreseeable future. Akihiko will bounce to wherever Mitsuru needs him, and usually the police will understand since Akihiko really can’t stand to be in one place for a long time--he’s impatient, but he’s courageous.

Princess is Hamu, or at least her reincarnation (part theory)

Minor spoiler warning (about how the PQ2 cast feels about the PT in PQ2), will be marked, at the VERY end, with lots of space before and after if you want to miss it.

Ok with Princess showing up I noticed some interesting similarities between her and Hamuko. Under the cut cause of pictures/length

First off it’s the color scheme, yes I know her hair is reddish, but they also aren’t consistent with her hair and eyes (funny cause people made a stink when I said Makoto stole Hamuko’s hair and eyes cause they both have brown hair and they were like “NO IT’S AUBURN! SHE HAS REDDISH-ER HAIR” and now that Princess has red hair y’all are sleeping smh, btw her hair was orange for some reason in PQ2 so yeah point still stands, not consistent). Her eye’s flop between red and brown all the time too, even within P3P (same with Goro) so that’s no surprise either. (if you don’t believe me here’s a comparison of FeMC’s ever changing colors)

Plus, tbh, her hair and eyes are very.....reddish-brown in certain shots so color shouldn’t be the deciding rule. (also they both rock the eyelashes, Hamuko is known for rocking eyelashes the most in P3, I guess Soejima didn’t know how to do those till post-P4)

Now let’s look at a few other things, such as the way she stands....it’s very similar:

Her knees tend to angle in and her feet close together. Also:

Very similar pose (also the only time we really see her outside of combat).

I know what you are thinking, I’m crazy, I’m looking too much into animations. But....I’ve always liked looking at the animations and the similarities (like how Yukari, Rise, and Anne have at least one pose where they have legs standing wide apart). And Atlus has shown to pay attention to this detail (as seen with Ren/Goro having Minato/Souji animations) it really feels like they are trying to draw a parallel here as well.

I also found that Princess bare’s a similar resemblance to the P3 Hero and Heroine aka Minty and Hamu’s (as well as Yukari’s, cause Soejima effed up not realizing the Heroine and Yukari were two different characters when he first started apparently 8U) beta design (bottom left one of the second pic to be exact):

There’s a few other things I want to point out that draw a connection, and that’s the title “Royal” and the connection to the FeMC. So like, I know I liked to make the joke (at least to myself) and other FeMC fans did this as well, but we’d say “FeMC isn’t a Princess, but a Queen!” (One reason I’m upset Makoto got that tbh) as it’s a reference to her song Wiping All Out. Now I think you can draw the conclusions to that so I’ll move on.

The last one is....a Theory, but hear me out it involves fall perfectly on the timeline in P5!

So I was very much a stickler for figuring out the P5 kid’s birth dates because of the lack of year in P5 (wow odd sentence there). And there’s something I noticed, Princess is a first year!

(oh would you look at that they have similar lips ah wait focus) So what does that mean, well it means she was born sometime between  April 2nd 2000-April 1st 2001 (follow that link above to find out where I got this), btw Futaba is Feb 19, 2001 (at the time I posted that one post above, we hadn’t gotten the birthday dates yet). 

What year did the Moonlight Bridge incident take place? 1999 according to every word every spoken in P3 (or 2000 if you want to go off Aigis’ birth year in the artbooks and fight game’s loading screen because ahahaha THAT’S NOT AN ISSUE AT ALL ATLUS AND I HAVEN’T BEEN TEARING MY HAIR OUT ABOUT IT AT ALL! ;W;), so...what am I saying? Princess is Hamuko’s reincarnation from the Bridge incident. When Minato was chosen, Hamuko died that night and was reborn a few months later as Princess (which means vice versa happened on Hamuko’s side in P3P). 16ish years later, boom we are in P5. 

So what does this mean? Well 1) I might’ve been right that the other P3MC exists on the other’s timeline even if they aren’t MCs (tho I didn’t consider reincarnation tbh), 2) It’d probably be a great way to capitalize on PQ2 and compare and contrast those two things. 3) It means I get Hamuko again~! :D

As for the voice, which seems a little higher/younger than Hamuko’s, it could be that it’s the same VA just making it higher/younger because she is a year younger than Hamu. Buuuuuuut it could also be a new VA.....not the first time they changed VAs even if it’s for a similar character (DramaCDs state Metis has Labrys’ mother’s face, but she and Labby have different voices, and then Labby/Labby’s mom and Metis have different VAs compared to Rei who is hinted to be the dead mom and alkjsdkl yeah). But I’m not the best with JPN VAs, but it sounds like Marina Inoue imo.

But other than that, yeah that’s what I squeezed out of it.

Oh yeah in relation to PQ2 btw, btw spoiler warning:

In PQ2 the PT only say they are thieves, they don’t explain WHAT they steal in PQ2, thus no one really has an issue with them. Which means they get along, not exactly the hardest hitting game, but that’s fine as long as they utilize the animosity with the Arena games (or in this case, Royal). So yeah that’s why Hamu and everyone is pretty chill with the PT in PQ2. And it’d be a great juxtaposition with Princess if she was the FeMC, since they meet her but it’s not REALLY her (because they met her when she didn’t/wasn’t reincarnated). And it’d be a great time to utilize that connection, esp since she expressed having fun “being like a thief” in the first dungeon.
