A Holiday With David Cadwallader

As many of you may know, I’m obsessed with the older version of SnowBaz, with MalMage my beloved, and since I’m making it everyone’s problem, I decided to make the Carry On Countdown with fanfiction exclusively about MalMage since the theme is Carry On (I hope it’s allowed tho...). So welcome to the first time I’ll make it to the Countdown. 

SUMMARY:

Malcom Grimm isn’t expected to come back to spend holidays at home. As a solution, his roommate, David Cadwallader, offers him a place at his house, which is a terrible proposition, both realize on their way. Or maybe it’s the best choice and their best holiday ever.

CHAPTER/PROMPT ONE: Something Old

The sun shines through the window in our room, lighting our packed trunks and Davy’s golden hair. It’s a cold morning, but it’s warmer than it’s been since November started.

I’m holding onto the promise of a normal Christmas, for the first time it might really be a Normal holiday.

* Cassandra- Shy freshman college girl with a thing for skirts, stockings, and exhibition/public play. She is particularly fond of public trains and the local subway. Mostly bottom but isn’t afraid to take control to get what she wants.

* Sam/Samantha- Gender fluid (born male but extremely androgynous) individual with a submissive kink. Loves an alpha master or mistress and quickly gets week in the knees to anybody with a commanding presence or voice. Total bottom.

* Grunt- An orc outcast with the pride and demeanor of a chieftain. He has enough stamina to outlast and exhaust even the best in bed. Complete bisexual top.

It's been a heck of a week for writing, but my new strategy of "writing on my phone while my children watch movies," has been slightly successful, aided by the fact that air quality has been horrible in my neck of the woods and we can't get outside as much as we'd like.

Anyway, Simon's mum and Malcom continue to converse. Fun times:

Malcolm Grimm purses his lips. "He wants to change everything that can be changed about our society. What better tools than a prophesied child and an existential threat? If he can control the child and tell the story of the threat…" He shrugs, a little, weighty thing. Tossed off as though it's casual, but dragging every implication behind it.

And Holsom time loop also continues along well. But also currently very spoilery. So, here's an old snippet I enjoyed writing. Longer than 6 sentences though.

"The orgy wasn't actually that great," Holster says, barely audible.

"Excuse me?"

"It was just, like, a threesome with other people nearby. Didn't live up to the hype."

"And now, I may never know."

Holster pushes himself up to look in Ransom's eyes. "Bro, if we get out of this, I swear I will throw you another orgy. One you'll remember."

Simon is practically bouncing across the street toward Natasha’s son…Basilton favors his mother, all too much. The sharp and cruel, proud aristocratic features, always looking down his nose at those of us who are lesser-than in the Old Families’ eyes. He smiles, though, when Simon kicks at his foot, then brushes away a strand of hair from Simon’s face. I almost can’t believe what I’m seeing—it must be an act. The question would be why—why is Natasha Grimm-Pitch’s son feigning puppy love over the Chosen One like this? Surely this marriage has shaken his family to the core. Malcom Grimm and Natasha’s snarling feral merwolf of a sister have just finished insisting as much in their campaign against the match.

Simon moves in closer as they turn to make their way down the sidewalk, and then Basilton’s hand glides up to rest in the small of Simon’s back, as if to gently guide him. They’re looking at each other instead of where they’re walking, and a sudden cold, ill feeling takes hold in my gut.

I’ve done all that I can, Lucy. Magic forgive me for what comes next.

Hi! This is kind of random but I saw the post about your What Is Evil class and was wondering if you have any recorded lectures or the reading list? I just think it would be an interesting thing to read about and I'm nerdy like that lol 😅 no worries if not!

As a treat for myself, I decided to make this Countdown as almost entirely MalMage. I wrote everything I wanted, every scenario I wanted to put them when they're young and this is a entirely self indulgent fanfic. And I'm surprised that this is one of my few works that have a lot of fluff, given I love writing angst, this one is a welcomed change.

Happy Wednesday! It's open windows season in my corner of the world, and I cannot get enough of the crisp spring air and birds singing outside my windows. And my younger child shouting "It's an airplane!" every time a plane flies overhead (this happens frequently. We live 3 miles from an airport).

I've been shoving some new scenes into the final chapters of ADA, editing ADA, talking with @petedavidsonscock about writing an OMGCP fic together (EXCITED ABOUT THIS), as well as writing meta on Good at Something and noodling on Simon's Two Mums. Which is to say: I have more WIPs on the go than I have had for more than five years. I know this is like, an unfathomably small number of WIPs for most people, but for me it's a lot! (I also have minimum 3 more ideas for dangerverse floating around. Anyway. Uh, ignore those.)

So listen, both of Simon's mums are me. Don't act so surprised. But I am so deeply in love with the character I've created for Simon's barrister mum. She's badass and I want to have her kick some ass for me, if she has a spare moment. A snippet of Zadie Stephenson below. (Bow before her.)

"Ah, Ms. Stephenson, Ms. Shaw, I was just telling Mr. Wellbelove and Mr. Grimm about your situation," Cadwallader says, and every face in the room swings to look at us, save one of the men talking to Cadwallader, who turns at a more stoic pace, face masked with grave indifference.  Aside from the three men, there's an elderly couple sitting in two adjacent padded chairs, they look but don't move to approach us.  Cadwallader waves us towards him, and the stoic man's face gives the impression of an eye roll, even though his eyes are locked on us.  I zero in on the stoic man before we can be introduced. "Zadie Stephenson," I say, reaching aggressively for a handshake. It seems to startle him into reaching back, and his shake is as firm as mine. "Malcom Grimm."
