Hi. I wasn't sure if you saw the reblog with the stuff I learned, so I'mma just send it as an ask.
This is something that I just learned that I think could be very interesting. The difference in how Gerudo & Fōrea'ole'āina perceive power based on how their distinctive cultures define it.
Now, before I start, I wanted to get some stuff out. Fōrea'ole is just the term that natives of Faron refer to the region by with Fōrea'ole'āina being another word for Faron natives. And, if we were to put this into real world terms, which would approximate Faronites with Hawaiians. However, much like Hawaii, even though the residents of Faron (especially the islands off the coast of Faron) are considered to be residents of Hyrule, they are natively part of another culture; Holōreans which are a wayfaring society originating from the Holōrean Ocean. The Holōrean Ocean encompasses all the water between the Hyrulean eastern seaboard (the Akkala, Lanayru, Necluda, & Faron Seas being smaller sections of the Holōrean Ocean that surround Hyrule) & New Hyrule's seaboard similarly to the Atlantic ocean. And the Holōrean Ocean is where you'll find not only the Oshus Archipelago & Holodrum, but many others. Eventide is the smallest island in the Koholina Archipelago, which is part of the Fōrea'ole island family (but forget that part for now, this is already getting long). However, only Eventide & Lurelin are actually part of Hyrule proper. With all that in mind, think of Holōrea as being equivalent to Polynesia, with the islands in the Faron Sea being the Hawaiian islands, & Lurelin basically being like if there was a tiny fishing village in Florida settled by Hawaiians.
Now, onto the part in question: The Gerudo tend to see power through the lens of the words Xïdad (physical) or Qútàdrā (in-general). Well, those are the words that I made up for them, but ya know.
Anyway, this is how those words are defined in my hc:
*Xïdad = Strength or strong. Might. Power. Chiefly physical.
Qúdrāta or Qútàra or Qútàdrā = Literally, means “power,” but is also edged with “strength,” “might,” “vigor,” “intensity,” or “force.” However, it also has strong, implied connections to the concepts of destiny, control, ability (as in capability, capacity, fitness, or qualification), potency, domination (either dominance or dominion), predominance, command, rulership, reign, prevalence, mastery, ascendancy, & empires. It is a word heavily associated with the concept of rulers & royalty, which are, likewise, heavily colored by the concept of divine right with Gerudàn culture, as well as dictatorship & tyrants. A much more general term than xïdad, as it refers to not only physical power, but also authority & can even be applied to magic & its practitioners. The term that Ganondorf typically perceives when he thinks or hears about “power.” Due to its use of Drā, it also tends to bring to mind the imagery of great or noble dragons. - A mix of the Arabic words qua, qudra, & saytara.
However, in Holōrean culture, power is translated to mana, which has a very different implicit meaning:
Mana = Though it translates to power, it is considered one of the most meaningful Faronic words. However, something important to note is that “mana” isn't in any way defined by power that is exerted over others in order to get something you want. In contrast, it is thought of as a spiritual construct: specifically, the energy, life force, & healing power that is believed to permeate the very universe itself. In this way, it can also be interpreted to mean “good or positive energy.”
As such, this could create an interesting conflict or misunderstanding between Ganondorf &, not only Leilani & her family, but the Fōrea'olen people as a whole. It’d also create an interesting misunderstanding with Demise as well due to how similar his interpretation of power likely is to that of the Gerudo, if still a bit different as his seems to be more associated with displays of overwhelming power that results in destruction & ruin.
It would just cause this befuddlement & confusion between them, as their perceptions of what “power” means would be near opposites.
But, yeah. Sorry.
Don't apologize! I didn't see this information before. I usually keep up to date on all the reblogs and the like, but I am very airheaded. I may have missed this.
************************************************************************
This cultural divide between how Ganondorf (across various versions) and Demise perceive power versus the Fōrea'ole'āina could lead to some profound moments of realization or tension between the characters.
Here’s how each version of Ganondorf and Demise might react:
1. Wind Waker Ganondorf
Wind Waker Ganondorf has a contemplative side, shaped by years of longing and regret. He’d likely be bewildered by the Fōrea'olen concept of mana. His experience with power is shaped by dominance and survival—his pursuit of the Triforce is driven by his need to gain control over Hyrule’s fate. He might initially view the Fōrea'ole'āina concept of power as naive or sentimental. However, after more exposure to them, he could start reflecting on his own history, especially since his desires in Wind Waker are tinged with sorrow. Their perspective might make him question his own pursuit of power—perhaps considering, in rare quiet moments, whether there’s more to life than the dominance he’s always sought.
Reaction: “Power as life force? That sounds like a dream. But dreams do not conquer kingdoms, nor do they protect your people from the storms of life. However... their tranquility... it is... admirable.”
2. Ocarina of Time Ganondorf
This Ganondorf is in his prime, and he fully embodies the Gerudo definition of power—Qútàdrā as dominance, rulership, and divine right. He’s arrogant and driven by his destiny to conquer Hyrule. The Fōrea'olen concept of mana as spiritual power would baffle and even irritate him. He would see their interpretation of power as weak, impractical, and detached from reality. His own ambitions revolve around strength, fear, and controlling fate through sheer force.
Reaction: “Mana? Spiritual force? That is no power at all. Real power shapes empires, bends wills. You cannot heal the world with energy alone. You must control it.”
3. Twilight Princess Ganondorf
Twilight Princess Ganondorf is cold, calculating, and vengeful. He sees himself as the embodiment of an inevitable fate, driven by the Triforce of Power. For him, power is about manifesting destiny, and the Fōrea'olen concept of mana might strike him as quaint, perhaps even foolish. He wouldn't respect it because it doesn't offer him the same tangible control over the world that he craves. That said, he might see their belief in mana as a weakness to exploit.
Reaction: “Their so-called power is nothing but an illusion. True strength comes from bending the world to your will, not living passively within it.”
4. Hyrule Warriors Ganondorf
This Ganondorf is perhaps the most aggressive and warlike, reveling in combat and destruction. His entire being is centered around overwhelming power—conquest through brute force and dark magic. The idea of mana as a positive spiritual force would not resonate with him. He would see it as an entirely foreign concept and would dismiss it outright. He thrives on conflict and destruction, making the Faronic ideals feel incompatible with his worldview.
Reaction: “Power is dominance over all, crushing those who oppose you. There is no room for softness in war. The weak may speak of harmony, but they will fall before true might.”
5. Tears of the Kingdom Ganondorf
Tears of the Kingdom Ganondorf is twisted by the Zonai stone and his desire to reclaim his perceived rightful place as ruler of Hyrule. His connection to power is deeply rooted in dark magic and the consumption of life force itself. Mana as a form of peaceful energy and life force would utterly confuse him, especially since his power is drawn from destruction. He might mock the concept at first, but he could develop a grudging respect if he sees how strongly it empowers the Fōrea'ole'āina community.
Reaction: “Mana? Your people believe in such fantasies? Power that does not break, burn, and bend is no power at all. But... perhaps there is a strength in such foolish hope...”
6. Demise
Demise is the ultimate manifestation of destructive power and chaos. His interpretation of power is all about domination and fear, and he would have no patience for any concept of power that doesn't involve crushing one’s enemies. He would view the Faronites’ idea of power as completely incompatible with his own worldview. Mana, as a life force, would mean nothing to him—power is only worth something if it allows him to destroy and conquer. He wouldn't just reject the idea; he'd likely see it as an insult to his existence.
Reaction: “Power that heals? Power that creates? What use is that? True power destroys, annihilates, conquers. Anything else is weakness.”
Each Ganondorf and Demise brings a different flavor to the conversation, but they all share a fundamental attachment to power as control, dominance, and destruction. The Faronic idea of mana as life force would present a challenge to their worldview, but it could also provoke some reflection, especially in versions of Ganondorf that have experienced loss or regret.

Answering Questions No One Asked For (Part II)
Continuation of this post. Also, I just learned I can't edit previous posts to add titles. 😂
Mario Fan Creations: Thus far, I have written ten Mario based fanfictions on AO3. They are linked on my pinned post in this blog. I have ideas for other fics I would like to write, and they will be linked once I post them on AO3. Right now, I'm sticking to fanfiction because I have zero artistic talent. 😂
Favorite Fanfiction Written So Far: Although Burning Desire is my most popular fic, my personal favorite right now is Unclogging Love. I just loved the idea of Mario and Luigi sharing their thoughts about Peach and Daisy with the latter two eavesdropping on them. 🙂
Writing Style: I'm more of a pantser, meaning I write what comes to mind without an outline. I'm trying to balance between being a pantser and plotter. I like the freedom of writing the story as it plays in my mind. However, at the same time I'm trying to be better at outlining my stories and giving them more structure. As far as the stories I write, I try to write the stories I would like to read myself. I try to keep them to where anyone can enjoy them, and I want most if not all of my stories have happy endings for my favorite characters.
Favorite Fics To Read: I love reading positive fics centered around my favorite characters and ships, especially if they're Mareach and/or Luaisy-centric. I try to avoid reading fics that place my favorite characters in a negative light. The character I am the most sensitive about is Peach. If I stumble across a fic that depicts her negatively, I bail out as soon as I can. I also try to avoid fics with bad/negative endings.
Other Favorite Gaming Series:
Pokémon
Final Fantasy (although I haven't played one since FFX)
Seiken Densetsu (especially Trials of Mana, I may write fanfiction about that game next)
Chrono games (Trigger, Cross)
Tetris
Legend of Zelda (though the last one I played was Wind Waker 😬)
Biggest Pet Peeves in Fandoms: I have two major ones:
Gatekeeping - I mean, what's the point? Just because someone doesn't know every single detail about a series doesn't mean they aren't true fans. 🙄 I don't know everything about the things I enjoy and even if I did, I wouldn't act superior to others. If anything, that could turn people away from fandom. I, for one, love to see new people in the fandoms I enjoy.
Bashing Characters To Build Up Favorites - This one drives me nuts. It's one thing to prefer some characters over others. However, there's no need to take shots at or talk negatively about the characters that aren't favored as much. Let's take the Mario fandom, for example. The prime examples I see are Luigi being praised while Mario is dragged through the mud, and the other Mario girls being celebrated while Peach is criticized. Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather support my favorites than criticizing others.
Another one that is sort of an extension of #2 is people taking shots at characters while they're being praised. Someone can create a positive topic about a character, yet some who dislike the character come in and say something negative about the character and/or insulting those who do. It's something I could never understand. For me, if I don't care about certain characters or ships, I don't even look at the topic. I scroll past it and go on about my day. I just think it's a waste of time and energy to do something like this.
Well, I think I will stop here for now. If I can come up with anything else, I'll create another post. Also, I'll do my best to answer any questions others may have. For anyone who took the time to read all of this, thank you, and I hope whoever read this enjoyed getting to know me a little better. 😁

Gyrus, Despertador de Cadáveres/ Gyrus, Waker of Corpses
Tumblr media

Change Notes July 7 2024
Tumblr media
First two aesthetic updates:
Laelia, the Blade Reforged goes borderless. The profile treatments feel formulaic to me, but the art direction of Commander cards generally feel perfunctory, and the original printing of Laelia is no exception, so pretty easy swap here.
Control Magic slides into the future... Going from Revised to 4ED, and with that, the rules text is drastically simplified. I'm embarrassed I didn't catch this upgrade before.
Marionette Apprentice might be a more fun contributor to Aristocrats than Bastion of Remembrance. Few thoughts contributing to the test
There are more than enough variants of Blood Artist in the cube, so I don't want to add to the total number
Bastion is the slowest and hardest to interact with, when the deck is already difficult to play around
No serious effect on game piece complexity. Neither use unique tokens. +1/+1 counters are easy.
Moderate effect on gameplay complexity, in that Apprentice has Fabricate, which currently only exists on Angel of Invention. With that I'm thinking both of using keywords and that it's a modal spell.
I kind of like that it doesn't gain life AND triggers on artifacts. That makes it more if a headache to play alongside Zulaport Cutthroat, but makes it much more interesting interesting in an artifacts deck.
Also relevant: 2/3 of stats at 2 mana, which makes it almost an anti-Blood Artist.
Overall, I think it's very likely to suffer from aesthetic gameplay annoyances and will get cut, but I like how versatile it is compared to other Aristocrats options.
Other Notes....
I now have enough experience to know that Treasure Cruise is a way cooler card than Dig Through Time. Drawing 3 cards is cool as fuck, and takes like 2 seconds.
Diabolic Tutor comes in to slowly enable weird combo-y stuff if players really want that. Ransack the Lab is fine, but UB and BG decks both have better options to achieve similar things. It won't be missed.
Wolfbriar Elemental is a holdover from an unsupported wolves deck that has stuck around as a sort-of mana sink. I'm hoping Waker of the Wilds can do that job much better.

Tyki Mikk is a Clone and I can (almost) prove it
Tyki Mikk is undoubtedly a fan favorite and yet we don’t really know a lot about him. For a character that was created with the purpose of being handsome (cf. D.Gray-Man Manga Volume 5, page 150), he carries a lot of baggage and has a rather unclear past. A theory that has haunted me since I read chapter 198 and has only grown in strength with the most recent arc is that Tyki is in fact a clone of Nea. As far fetched as this seems at start, there is quite a bit of evidence supporting this theory.
1) Tyki’s visible similarity to Nea (and Mana)
One of the first things Wisely remarks on when he meets Tyki is his similarity to “a certain man” (Chapter 187).
Tumblr media
This similarity is picked up twice more in the manga. When Allen meets Nea for the first time (cf. chapter 198), he mistakes him for Tyki at first.
Tumblr media
And it is brought up a third time by Nea himself in chapter 225 when he says:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To which Tyki, or rather Joyd, has this wonderful reaction:
Tumblr media
But more on that guy specifically later. Point being right here is that three different characters, or four if you want to count Road and Wisely separately, acknowledge that Tyki resembles Nea a lot, down to the man himself. How does that saying go again? Once An Accident, Twice A Coincidence, Three Times A Pattern? This is something that repeatedly gets brought up again. And this is without going into detail on how much Tyki resembles not only Nea, but said man’s identical twin as well. Just look at that dashing long hair!
Tumblr media
And take this from chapter 158 as well
Tumblr media
Pretty long haired boy Mana is nothing new as of chapter 218 and 219:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another interesting point here is that Tyki is the exact same height as the Earl in human form! They’re both 188cm tall. Nea, on the other hand, is listed at being 177cm. This could just be that Nea unfortunately ended up as the shorter twin, or, we take into consideration what Mana tells Allen/Red in chapter 238:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He remembers being seventeen, which means that he and Nea probably weren’t done growing yet when the “Earl” corrupted Mana. (It also kind of makes everything about Nea more hilarious if you realize he’s just seventeen.) Tyki, however, is 26 when we first meet him and should be around 27 now. He is an actual adult and not bound to hit another growth spurt.
But to summarize the first argument: Tyki looks uncannily similar to Nea and Mana and the manga keeps pointing it out so we can assume this resemblance is important.
2) Cloning is possible in canon
Now the second point is just here to point out that we know cloning to be possible. Funnily, Tyki’s resemblance to Nea gets pointed out just before the Alma Arc, which very much deals with the concept of reincarnation – only there we have the brains of deceased Exorcists transplanted into youthful bodies.
However, it’s not as if something like DNA hasn’t been mentioned before. Specifically, it has been called “Helix of life” by no other than maybe-former-Bookman but definitely First-Nea-host Past!Allen in chapter 221:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So let’s assume that, in the aftermath of Nea’s “death”, PastA didn’t just wait around for Nea to wake again, but tried to find a vessel for him. Messing around with this helix, and whatever other dubious science and magic this world had to offer, and created a new body to host Nea. Except he failed, and the result is Tyki.
But if that is so, shouldn’t Tyki remember anything about that? Good question. Time for some more shady weird stuff about Tyki.
3) The Missing Years
In chapter 202, while the Earl is resting, Tyki talks to Road. I don’t speak Japanese, so I can’t verify which translation is more accurate, but I’ve found these two:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now the official German one also goes with a similar translation as the second one here, implying that Tyki has been with the Earl for ten years. In any case, the fact that this decade at all gets mentioned is quite odd because it doesn’t match up with what we know of Mana travelling with Allen. Cross calls Allen a “ten-year-old brat” (chapter 208) when he looks after him. So between Mana travelling with Allen and current canon, only 6 years have passed – what are up with the other 4 that are supposedly within this decade? We don’t have a definite age for how old Allen was when he met Mana, but I’d say around 7 or older. That’s still not enough to fill out the decade they speak about here.
Now, presuming that it does in fact refer to Tyki staying with the Earl for that time, we’re either left with assuming that the Earl acted as a separate entity as we see in 218, or that Tyki’s memories are just flat out wrong.
4) Tyki Mikk’s Canon-Typical Ignorance AKA The Baby of The Family
The more often Tyki appears, the more we see how much he actually doesn’t know about the going-ons of the war, or even himself. This goes back as far as the Ark Arc in chapter 130 with the Earl pointing out that:
Tumblr media
So this form is apparently something that all Noah of Pleasure can take on, a sort of second stage of awakening. Still, it feels significant that Tyki separates his life so much into “black” and “white”, “Noah” and “human”, going as far as suppressing a part of his Noah. It puts him in direct opposition to Skinn, who was more or less entirely consumed by his Noah memories. Though, perhaps this is also just a narrative ploy because a character with the ability to chose is, frankly speaking, fuck off overpowered and the only reason why Tyki isn’t constantly leveling battlefields is probably that he just doesn’t know how to apply himself.
Regardless, Tyki’s ignorance also becomes visible in chapter 187 again when he wonders about his Noah name:
Tumblr media
Nobody else reacts like he does, even though the other Noah haven’t been awake as long as he has and also should have retained the same memory damage as Joyd after Nea’s murder spree. Yet Tyki feels a little like the baby of the family, still learning and growing while everyone else is already in the know, which can’t be too far from the truth if we look at chapter 225:
Tumblr media
Wisely and Road definitely know that something went down and kept it from Tyki for so long for reasons. So besides Allen learning the truth sometime in the future, Tyki is also heading towards some kind of realization – and honestly, what better than the fact that the man who enjoys his freedom and roam so much, was artificially created?
Road could have manipulated his subconsciousness, his memories. It’s a miracle really that the Earl hadn’t had a breakdown around Tyki already given how much he looks like Nea. And if Tyki really awoke as a Noa a decade ago, then eh would have been right the age Nea was when he died. The Earl should have reacted in one way or another.
Other small details that don’t add up is a) the claim that Tyki and Sheril are actual brothers. They have different last names, which would imply that they are perhaps rather half siblings, sharing one parent, or maybe they just aren’t related at all in the first place. The other thing is that Nea recognizing Tyki’s face immediately after confronting Mana about his changed appearance just adds even more suspicion.
5) TLDR
Tyki is either a clone or something else messy went down because there’s no way that there’s a natural Nea and Mana copy running around who also just so happens to be a Noah. No way.
Thanks for coming to my  TED talk I’m never writing meta again this was a nightmare to post.

I’m still pretty sure I’m on to something with the Cosimo thing. This does not necessarily have to conflict with my theory that little Allen brought back Cosimov, not Mana with the Earl, but what if Cosimo is a Noah as well? Or was?
Which could explain his dislike of Mana. What if Red was, perhaps, a, ah... Red Herring for Nea? Nea was in Cosimo all along, Red was a decoy for the Order/Cross/whomever, and if Allen was made, in part, an Akuma by bringing back Cosimo, then he would have been implanted with the 14ths soul?
It could also have something to do with the splitting of souls similar to what happened with the Earl. A Noah soul in Cosimo was part of a whole Noah, now split into pieces.

HiMERU  is  never  a  good  waker.      that's  the  simple  fact  of  it.      most  mornings,    his  drowsiness  overtakes  him  before  he  can  even  grasp  onto  any  semblance  of  wakefulness  that  might  come  with  being  conscious.      as  he's  used  to  living  alone,    he's  used  to  waking  alone.      but  the  simple  truth  is  this  :  that  the  moment  he  remembers  that  he's  in  mana's  house,    enshrouded  in  warmth  under  mana’s  covers,    curled  up  against  one  of  mana’s  pillows,    he's  awake  as  quickly  as  he's  ever  been  awake  before,    almost  jolting  at  the  sudden  realisation.      they're  not  around  to  actually  witness  that  embarrassment,    which  he's  thankful  for,    but  even  lying  here  for  a  few  seconds  makes  him  feel  as  if  he's  overstayed  his  welcome.      for  what  it's  worth,    they  really  only  had  been  sleeping.
but  he's  not  about  to  say  he  had  a  very  restful  one.
Tumblr media
it  takes  him  nearly  half  an  hour  before  he's  cleaned  the  sleep  out  of  his  eyes  and  his  pores,    wet  his  hair  with  a  bit  of  water,    and  made  himself  look  as  presentable  as  possible  without  his  makeup,    which  he  hadn't  had  the  foresight  to  bring.      he's  not  someone  who  will  simply  sleep  over  at  anyone's  home  for  the  hell  of  it,    and  he's  almost  regretting  that  he'd  taken  this  opportunity,    too.      but  he's  at  least  well  and  awake  enough  to  make  his  way  out  to  find  mana,    wherever  they  are.
Tumblr media
@epithmia.      “  hey.  ”      head  cants  westward,    tipping  strands  of  hair  out  of  their  eyes  as  they  look  him  over  thoughtfully.      they  hold  a  stare  held  between  idle  and  intense  thought  as  hands  already  begin  to  move  to  dig  through  the  few  cosmetics  they  own.      not  enough  for  anything  flashy  or  dramatic,    but  with  what  they  do  have,    mana  thinks  they  can  pull  something  together  nicely  for  him.      something  natural,    which  honestly,    seems  like  it  would  suit  him  the  best.      himeru’s  already  naturally  pretty,    so  she’d  rather  just  highlight  what  he  already  has.        “  come  here,  ”     signals  with  a  curling  finger  for  him  to  follow  her.      they  end  up  posted  in  her  kitchen  for  the  lighting,    and  she  has  him  sat  down  so  she  can  have  free  reign  over  his  features  —  extremities  gently  coaxing  back  through  blue  hair  as  her  eyebrows  already  start  to  slowly  furrow  in  focus,    hair  -  clips  held  between  lips  ready  to  pin  it  out  of  the  way.      “  my  mother  taught  me  this  stuff,    you  know.  ”      she  doesn’t  know  why  she’s  sharing  this  with  him,    but  it  feels  right  to  do  so.      it  feels  good,    in  this  time  just  for  them,    before  they  have  to  go  out  into  the  world  and  into  their  respective  obligations  for  the  day.        “  i  never  really  cared  at  the  time  to  be  enthusiastic  about  it.      but  even  so,    i  end  up  using  those  skills  more  often  than  i  assumed.  ”      fingertips  sweetly  grab  and  tilt  at  his  jaw  —  hold  him  in  place  right  where  she  wants  him  and  reaches  for  the  first  product  to  start  with,    “  before  we  could  hire  decent  artists  ourselves,    i  did  the  make  up  for  tsukiyo.      so  i  promise  you  won’t  look  bad  .  ”
Tumblr media
he  sits  obediently  in  his  seat  as  she  combs  through  his  hair,    his  hands  clasped  in  his  lap,    eyes  half-lidded  before  he  thinks  to  do  anything  about  it.      he's  not  paying  attention  to  them,    but  focused  every  little  bit  on  what  she's  saying.      he  doesn't  assume  every  person  knows  how  to  apply  makeup  like  this.      in  fact,    he  mostly  assumes  that  most  people  don’t  know  how  to  put  it  on  as  effectively  as  he  does.      and  he's  never  let  anyone  else  do  his  before,    save  for  priest,    whose  methods  he  had  layered  into  his  own  ways.      to  preserve  what  priest  taught  him  was  to  preserve  his  own  life  and  his  own               or,    perhaps,    preserve  another's                identity  more  effectively.      and  he  is  nothing  if  not  attentive,    though  gratitude  for  it  still  doesn't  come  easy.
Tumblr media
with  his  chin  tilted  up,    he  can  watch  mana  from  up  close  without  worry.      they're  sweet  to  look  upon,    and  their  fingers  are  firm  but  not  too  cruel  with  him.      they  seem  practiced.      but  he  likes  to  look  at  her  eyes  most  of  all,    which  are  a  striking,    deeplight  pink  that  mesmerise  him  to  the  point  he  has  to  tell  himself  to  glance  away.      he's  always  been  drawn  to  eyes,    and  sometimes,    as  in  times  like  these,    it's  more  likely  to  fuck  him  over  than  it  is  to  do  him  any  favours.
❝        HiMERU  wasn't  worried  about  looking  bad,        ❞        he  says  softly.      confidently.        ❝        he's  sure  you're  going  to  do  a  wonderful  job.        ❞        it  will  likely  be  different  from  the  way  he  applies  his  own  makeup.      but,    somehow,    he's  not  worried.    he  trusts  her.

Big Tricks Standard
Here’s the refined version of the deck I’ve been playing. It does ok; the big thing for me is it’s really fun and dramatic. Pretty much every game leads to exciting top decks as early as turn two.
Creatures 20 1x Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider 4x Waker of Waves 4x Yidaro, Wandering Monster 4x Beanstalk Giant 2x Cragplate Baloth 1x Koma, Cosmos Serpent 4x Stonecoil Serpent
Other Spells 16 2x Wishclaw Talisman 4x Tibalt’s Trickery 2x Replicating Ring 4x Genesis Ultimatum 1x Emergent Ultimatum 1x Chromatic Orrery 2x Ugin, the Spirit Dragon
Lands 24 3x Snow-Covered Island 2x Snow-Covered Swamp 5x Snow-Covered Mountain 2x Snow-Covered Forest 4x Ketria Triome 4x Zagoth Triome 4x Fabled Passage
Piloting it:
Your ideal is to have a Stonecoil Serpent and Tibalt’s Trickery in your opening hand with two lands. Mulligan aggressively to an opening hand with at least two lands and one of your two combo pieces. If your opening hand has a decent amount of ramp and filtering (Waker, Yidaro, Beanstalk, the Ring) then you can consider keeping it but I usually toss those looking for combo pieces because that’s what this deck is about.
Be sure to full control (hold CTRL) and cast the serpent for X=0, and then cast TT with the serpent on the stack, targeting your own serpent. Fingers crossed you hit one of those big spells and not your little utility stuff. Note that if you hit the Beanstalk Giant, take a second to assess your board state and what you have in hand, and probably use it to search out another land unless you’ve got 7 lands on the board already with the proper mana fixing to cast Genesis Ultimatum. When you have need to decide on a basic land to grab, the proper play 9/10 times is to work toward fixing for Genesis Ult. I’d estimate that I hard cast that in just under half my games. Maybe 1/10 times the right play is to grab a Swamp if you have Emergent in hand and are close to being able to cast it, or if you need to cast your Wishclaw Talisman. Speaking of...
The Wishclaw Talisman is used to tutor up your combo pieces. Proper use of it is to have one of the two pieces in hand already, and enough mana to tutor up the other piece AND cast it that turn. While your opponent often won’t use the talisman and it’s fairly safe to assume you’ll only get one use from it, there’s no point giving them a chance to tutor an answer before you’ve had the opportunity to swing with a big hasty creature.
The other proper use of the talisman is if you already have a bunch of lands on the board in which case Ugin is a likely game ender. Again, best to have enough mana to be able to tutor and cast on the same turn.
My three favorite cards to snatch with Emergent Ult are Vorinclex, Yidaro, and Cragplate Baloth. No matter what I’m telling my opponent they are getting beat in the face that turn. It feels like there’s no real choice (the proper one us almost always to tuck Vorinclex), and sometimes that has led people to pick wrong. Alternatively, Waker of Waves almost always gets through and is decent for blunting a board of little guys.
Finally, you don’t need snow-covered basics. I just like the way they look.

C18 - Gyrus, Waker of Corpses
Gyrus got the short end of the stick. A secondary commander in a precon that already got a bad rap and used exile based reanimation. Gyrus is bloody fast if used right, making good use of doubling season. Populate effects can also get you mileage in retaining tokens. Two notes:
Gyrus enters with counters = mana spent to cast. This includes X costs and commander tax. You can cast them for BRG
The target checks power not cmc, and checks power not counters, Gyrus needs 3 power to reanimate Bane of Progress
