Any Other Globe Open World/World Maps That Loop Back (And Have Curve to The Horizon?) So on the first replay of ff9 in 10 years or something now that remake rumors are swirling, I got to the boat free navigation section and noticed two things:-The horizon is curved to simulate a globe-The map loops on itself, as in you circumnavigate the world and pop out on the other side of the map like pac-manThought it was super cool and immersive (this game has always had a very real feeling open world/World Map to me despite the age of the game)I am wondering about other open worlds or world maps in 3d games that have the looping, infinite map thing going for them? On today's episode of manthought horrors way into my comprehension we got this fuck. One of the scariest things I've ever heard of

You know someone. Mabye something is a better description. He's an entity that just sort of joined your freind group, and there's something terrifying about him. Something uncanny about all the things that he does.

He's a supernatural creature of some sort, but not one of any kind that you've seen before. Faeries and all things of the gods stay clear from him, even vampires and werewolves seem to not want to be near him, and demons and ghosts all have at best a begrudging respect. He's something different.

He looks human, perfectly human. Blond hair, clear skin, bright smile, like the type of person who you'd see in a well lit ad. He's always well lit. Always photogenic. Of all the people you know who could secretly be a cryptid he seems the least likely. He's always dressed in the latest fashion, always knows the latest trends.

But there's something deeply wrong with him. At first he just seems a bit boring. He never curses. Likes the most popular movies and shows. Knows no counterculture, nothing unknown, nothing older, nothing not mainstream. It's so consistent. You think you saw him alone once and he was just standing still, not doing anything, not bothering to look like a person. It was the first time you realized he wasn't human at all.

He's very non controversial. He seems to have no religion, no political positions, perhaps no bigotry but no hatred for bigotry either. Mortal fence sitters could never hope to be what he is. It seems fine at first, but one time you were talking about politics with some people who agreed with you, but he seemed to disagree with you talking about it at all, and acusse you of starting fights.

And not to mention you remember a girl who was opening up to you and your freinds about the death of her father, and he told her to stop, told her she was making everything sad. He seems to hate everything sad. Hates sad movies. Hates sad music. Hates sad stories. It's like he sucks up all the sadness out of the room, and all the anger, and all the fear, and sometimes those things belong in some rooms.

You had a freind who said he was there when someone tried to assault them. They had been lead into someone's room at a party, and told to take of their clothing, and realized they were not permitted to leave. And he, the entity, was there, not inside the room but right outside. He didn't even know he was guarding the door, but he was. And he made it all so normal for everyone, told the person inside not to scream, that they were upsetting people, made it so nobody passing through that hallway might be upset at the assault going on outside. Perhaps an entity like him didn't truly know what he was guarding, either way he didn't care.

Eventually your freind got out of that room thanks to a poket knife. They drew the blood of the assaulters easily, such creatures are mere mortals. But the entity outside, the false human you thought was your freind, he was mad, mad at the victim for "bringing violence into a peaceful place". They stabbed him too to get out, but there was no blood inside of him, just void, like shadow given flesh, and the absence of all life incarnate.

You don't know what he is. He's not your friend anymore. There are many entities that have disguised themselves as humans. But you don't understand why one would disguise itself as someone so inhuman.

Today Is Things

That includes a lot of random thoughts and mild life updates under the cut. Mostly what my brain has been lingering on randomly or just why I'm in a pretty decent mood today. Join me on a brief journey.

1) Breakfast was amazing. Apple juice, slathered honey on some bread my sister brought home from her bakery, poached eggs, sliced up an apple, fried some ham, decent chunk of feta cheese.

2) I need to replace my RAM, want an external hard drive/second hard drive and get a new disc drive. Because mine decided it wants nothing to do with reading discs anymore.

3) I have really, really hot hands. All the time. I run hot. It's why my window in my room is open unless: -30 degrees Celsius in winter, hardcore storms, snowing and potentially able to snow into my room. I am just a warm dude.

My idle stationing of my hands usually winds up with them either partially curled or full fist. So my VERY HOT FURNACE HANDS are CURLED INTO THEMSELVES. They betray me in a manner. The manner is like. I don't notice that they're super warm or anything because they're my own goddamn hands. But my body is reacting (I think?) to the heat of my own hands and they wind up being sweaty. So I open them and it's just 'GAH'.

4) Totally forgot to buy Wreck-It Ralph when I went out today. Shitpissvinegar.

5) You know you're male when: You pull off an effective shave that is not only time efficient, but provides maximum results. I seriously went into the washroom for only a few minutes and slew that bitch-set of whiskers on my face. Downward stroke shave for the first go.

Sideways/angled strokes for the second pass. Didn't cut myself, got amazingly close, face is smooth as baby, horrible villain goatee/beard thing is growing back in well enough. Except I think my sideburns aaaren't entirely lined up. On top of that, I think my hair has slowed about growing in. Usually it just escapes into a big dark, curly bush in two months or so. This time around it's just. Super slow-going.

6) I'm partially updating my video game checklist: Play through Bioshock Infinite without using the original Bioshock as an object of contrast, because I'll have a terribly biased opinion stemming from the original being one of my favourite shooters. Legitimately beat Quake 4 and F.E.A.R. (even if it involves reaching the point my save file corrupted) again because I swear I was 80% done in each game. Learn to embrace solo-queue in League of Legends again, because I need practice and my game is a bit inconsistent. Which isn't the best thing if my friends and I are going to start Ranked. Beat Halo 4. I got it for Christmas and still haven't hit it up.

7) Despite suddenly getting like... shit. Three feet of snow a few days ago? The weather kind of fucked off to a point of where the sun was actually on spring/summer levels today. When the slight breeze/wind died down briefly while waiting for buses? I actually felt warm. Plus a lot of sidewalks are melting out (this is why you shovel, assholes - it will just partially melt and then freeze over and be awful to walk on) so I guess I'll use spring as:

"Alright no more excuses, Elliot. You're like 100 pounds overweight and get butthurt every time you look in the mirror. You and I know a lot of that would evaporate if you walk 30 - 60 minutes a day and then when you get more stamina, add in other stuff eventually."

but oh my god kicking soda is so hard because dr. pepper is so delicious there is no goddamn substitute. Drinking a lot more water though and at one point in time I was okay with drinking Coke Zero. Which isn't still probably the healthiest choice, but better than actual Coke. But there's a case downstairs and I just.

I had a can and almost threw up from the taste. I don't know what happened, but it's absolutely disgusting again. Pepsi Max is just leagues ahead and actually tastes like actual Pepsi.

8) So obviously the healthy choice is go out for beer and pizza with a friend today. But I also could use hanging out.

9) I'm probably not the only person that has this, right? Where you have food, no matter what it is/where it's from/how you made it. And even if it's delicious or something you just feel like. Oh man you have to brush your teeth ASAP afterwards, because it just feels. Bad on your teeth.

10) I've decided on my dream car as of a few weeks ago. I want a '71 SS Chevelle. The only car I would take over a truck.

I'm not sure how many people following me are into the Walking Dead but I'm going to talk briefly on the latest episode (second last of the season) including spoiler stuff to it.

So readers beware. Here have a buffer. A DALE BUFFER. Spoilers below.

So while I'm entirely sold on the TV series' writers, I question the whole Merle thing.

I was excited at the prospect of Merle fringing his way into the main/Rick's group, even if he wasn't the best of guys but had his loyalty tie to Daryl who in turn, was loyal to the group. Also because losing the hand didn't slow that bastard down at all, he was entirely still capable.

So in the same episode they offer the character redemption, but it costs his life without even being able to get his sort of. Ultimatum-task-thing done because Governor plot armour. When he had potential to be an entirely lovable (if already liked) character that wasn't from the original graphic novels.

As briefly cranky as that made me, I'm still impressed with the writing and deviations from the graphic novel don't bother me in the least. I just wish Daryl would go back to wearing his poncho, as slick as he is in a leather jacket.

At least when this season of Walking Dead ends, Game of Thrones' new season will come around. And if people have read the books. They will understand why I am so ready for my sister's reactions. Because she hasn't read the books.

At times we need and should pay just as much attention to what's going wrong as what's going right and use that discomfort to making things better. Somewhere along life I picked up the habit that as a man, I should keep my feelings in check, not realizing those feelings tend to catch people of guard. I’ve leaned towards silencing any feelings for so long that I didn’t developed having the proper resources for handling certain issues when they did arise. And with them being so unplanned and an unexpected wave of emotions, it often time proved to be quite overwhelming. I say that to say this, our inner selves more than often knows and see the truth we try to hide, bury or repress which is why if we don’t address them... it will keep popping up, no matter how many times you ignore it. Always try to address the elephant in your room. #manthoughts
