would you mind sharing your writing process?? i'm so curious

this answer ended up being longer than u prob wanted lol

but i dont really have a process tbh!

for ideas, sometimes they just come from nowhere. like with between us and amateur, i was just like oh this would be rly cute lemme write it. others i get inspired by things i read or watch. for lias and aftermath, parts of those were drawn from personal experiences.

and then with the idea i come up with, if it’s for blurbs or smaller things i can usually write em in one sitting. for one shots, i’ll write them scene by scene when i have time. i also don’t rly make an outline or anything. i’ll usually write one scene and then figure out where i want the plot to go from there to end up at my main idea.

with the actual content of the story, i find that im a lot better at describing settings and writing inner monologues. because it’s easy for me to imagine myself in my stories and what my surroundings would look like and what i’d be thinking in that moment. with these parts, i love narration that feels like ur reading oc’s secret little diary or something! so i try and keep that voice when i write.

while i love setting things up and giving plot and backstory, i’ve noticed this doesn’t do as well on sturntumblr so i try to cut things out and keep a balance of just getting to the point. im not very good at this tho as u can prob tell lol

other parts i struggle with are dialogue and actual interactions between characters, cuz it’s harder for me to imagine what someone like chris or matt would say in return or how they might react to a situation.

sometimes, to get even two sentences of dialogue down, i’ll literally spend 30 mins going back and forth in my head repeating the same conversation over and over until something ‘natural’ they would say comes to me, if that makes sense.

i think characterization is what makes fanfiction so great. i love reading things and being like omg yea chris rly would do that. so i try my best to bring those moments into my stories (as best as i can, obvi we dont know them personally, maybe they’d react completely different) which is also why dialogue and interactions take me so long to write

ik fanfiction is fiction at the end of the day, things can be so ooc and as unrealistic as u want them to be, it’s rly never that serious but yea! these are just some of the things i think of when i write!!!

You heard people around you as you sat in the booth alone at granny's. Someone you recognized with a black short pixie cut with a warm smile and kind eyes. She offered you to sit with her and her family so you're not alone. You look up at her, looking at her outfit. pink blouse with black leggings. Brown boots since it was getting somewhat chilly outside. You looked her outfit up and down- shit.

You realized that you doing this could give the impression of a dirty look so you just look back to your phone instead. The woman furrowed her brows, somewhat confused as she tilted her head. After a couple of seconds she walked back to her table with a 2 other girls and a guy. One girl with a black bob, the other with blonde long hair- oh no. This was Henry's, your boyfriend, family. They all saw you staring at them and the one with a bob gave you a dirty look as she saw your stare. You realized that you had your brows furrowed and quickly relaxed them. Embarrassed, you just go back to your previous activities on your phone.

You then hear the door jingle, announcing to everyone that someone entered. You heard Red softly tell them 'hey henry', so you look back and immediately smiled. It was more of a subtle smile but better than earlier nonetheless. You got up and walked over to him, mumbling a quiet 'hey'. Usually you'd be louder but you could feel his family glaring at you. You could feel the stares pierce through your back.

Henry smiled back at you then saw his families confused looks and one of his mom's glare. His brows then furrowed as he looked back at you. You gave an awkward smile and replied, "uhm... I met your family, unknowingly...."

He sighs and walks past you, grabbing your hand. He walks to their table, "Moms, grandma, grandpa, this is my girlfriend. [Name]."

The one with a black bob looked you up and down, almost exactly to how you did to the one with a pixie cut. Henry pointed to all of them and told you who they were. Even though you were rude, His grandma still gave you a warm smile, the only one to be kind, once she was introduced. It felt ironic that she was the only nice one.

"Hi.. sorry about the looks, It wasn't meant to be rude..." You explain, shoulders tensed. Henry's hand was still laced with yours.

"What was it meant as then." His mom with black hair replied, he said her name was regina. She wasn't asking a question it sounded like. It was definitely meant to intimidate.

"I was just... observing, I guess? I don't know what it's called but it wasn't ill intended." You explain further, praying that they forgive you.

His grandma gives them all a look, one that says 'its fine'. Regina looked you up and down again then relaxed back into her chair.

"Who's your mom and dad?" His grandpa questions, Henry sighs seeing all of them ready to give his girlfriend a second chance. You guys combined the table and the booth and talked til it was dark.

His family loved you once they got to know you, David said your smile was brighter than Mary Margaret's.

how's your day been

whyyy thank u for asking dear dinosaurguts! today was my day off! i paid an unnecessary amount of money to get coffee delivered to me, took a lot of pictures of myself, and played video games. honestly, it’s been a pretty laid back day for me.

AND i just got out of the shower where i literally did a 20 minute long hair treatment which always makes me feel really put together even though i am going CRAZYYYYYYY!!!!!!!! how was your day? i hope gooood

As y’all know I’m really into Frankenstein the novel, and I can’t help but think about Re-animator through the lens of it being a Frankenstein adaptation. How it goes beyond being “masturbatory” story, as Frankenstein is, making a life yourself without a woman, to just straight up homosexual, two men making life together. How Victor Frankenstein doesn’t have a Dan, which by proxy doesn’t make Dan Herbert’s companion, (who you would think would be a parallel to Clerval,) but makes him his monster. That following the formula of the Frankenstein book, Herbert is making his creation a wife to satiate him. Fascinating!! Really twisting the dynamics from the book in such a way that I really love and is super thought provoking. Not only noting, but expanding, on the romantic themes between Frankenstein and the Creature. So interesting to me and I know I’ve seen a post about this before but we need to talk about it more. I also love that reanimator uses the “chemical process” science that is present in the book instead of the “shock of life” that most adaptions lean towards. And again just thinking about how the bride (the LITERAL creation) reacts to being rejected, which is so important in the book. The themes of autonomy, and rejecting god, and selfishness, that just really sing with the themes of the book. Anyway. It’s great yay ❤️

hello! first of all: i love your style and your AU, even if i've only discovered you thanks to your eva's fanarts! i'd love to see an eventual comic from it! and sorry for the earlier spam lol

i'm really interested about the relationships Shinji has with the adult figures. Misato seems more a professional figure more than the motherly/big sister role she originally had, while Mari seems more inclined to communicate with him, as well as having a more confidential tone. is Yui the means of union between them? What is the relationship between Yui and Mari? and finally, what made you approach Yui's character the way you are approaching her? Yui seems a very fascinating character in many ways and i can't wait to see more about her.

i'm sorry for the linguistic mistakes and the long questions, i'd be very happy if you feel like answering. take all the time you want to answer!

HELLO! So many interesting questions..

Misato does have a more professional role because of the addition of Yui, but she also serves as the "better" mother to the pilots. Yui isn't as clean and innocent as people think she is so Misato has to fill the role as the not evil adult figure. She's not the wisest nor the most mentally stable but she has to make an effort because she cares for the pilots.

Mari on the other hand is close to Shinji's age so she's not really an adult figure to him. She's a bit like his older sister (not that he'd admit it tho LOL). She gives good advices but Shinji is scared to confine in her because he tends to avoid facing the truth. She teases him a lot but cares too.

She's basically Yui's little worker since she's been working for her since very young (she would babysit shinji when yui and gendo were away).

The way I'm approaching Yui's character is for her to be Gendo's complete polar opposite. Commander Gendo is cold and calculating; he doesn't give out praise very often but it's the scarcity that keeps Shinji going (for the first half of the show). Commander Yui is warm and welcoming, she's constantly checking on the pilots to make sure they feel safe and motivated. Au shinji pilots because he doesn't want to disappoint his mother; he thinks his job is highly important.

But also she's basically a Makima archetype.
