The day Sonic Team decides to retire this model will be the happiest day of my life. I'm really getting tired of seeing this short quill, square headed, buttbrow looking mother fucker in every single game for the past 8 years.

I hope for the next 3D Sonic game they give us a model in line with something like Sock's Rio Sonic. Like i cannot play Frontiers without this mod on.

Sonic's model doesn't need drastic changes like what Sonic Boom did, but it just needs tweaks to the head proportions, colour, eyebrows, etc. These small details like ear placement and head shape do add up and I'm tired of people saying they don't matter. If Mario can change up his look in more recent games, then so can Sonic.

Oh yeah and can we please get some new render models for the love of god. They've been using the same models since 2005.

Yeah... Yeah this game is actually gonna be sick as hell. I am salivating for it.

It seems like they took everything about the GameCube game and made it 100x better. The addition of a second button already gives me a ton of confidence on how this game is gonna feel. The steps taken to make sure this game doesn't go stale and have a lot of replayability makes me very happy bro oh my god.

The only criticism i can make from the direct is that, while i do think the game overall looks very pretty, some parts look a bit... low res? It's mainly the backgrounds and even then this is me reaching at straws here. To me it feels like this game was being developed on Switch 1 first, and then moved over to only Switch 2.

98% of the game looks absolutely beautiful. Especially the water oh my GOD.

When my only major criticism is just "oh the backgrounds that you aren't gonna see much of anyways are kinda low textured" then you're doing something right.

I need this game in my hands right fucking now. I need that beautiful red case in my palms.

There is nothing more heart wrenching than finding an old YouTube video you watched and you see "17/18/19 years ago" next to the title. The realization on how much time has passed is truly indescribable.

It's like in that moment, all of the memories you associate with that video come flooding in, you remember where you were, how you felt, the sounds, the smells, everything.

There's this deep tragedy about nostalgia, you do not miss the item in question, most of the time you can easily get the thing you miss from your childhood, you don't miss the physical object itself, you miss how you felt. You miss the feelings. Nostalgia's roots as a word come from "homecoming" and "pain." It was considered a debilitating medical condition connected with extreme homesickness for centuries before becoming something more positive. It can be considered a good thing and help with memory consolidation, and trust me when you get older, things become harder to remember, days blur together, so nostalgia can help your mind.

But it can truly mess you up from the inside, it feels like you're peering through a window to a place you wish you could head inside one more time, but you can't. You can't. Having to come to terms with something like that is really hard and painful.

You will never be a kid again. You will never have that imagination, that happiness, that wonder, the peaceful silence in your mind, the colour of being kid. It is gone. You could buy all the things from your childhood, but it will never replicate the same feelings it gave you again. Old VHS tapes, game consoles, movies, books, toys, etc. It will not give you the same sensations again. It will not bring back the places you used to visit but don't anymore, it will not bring back the friends you used to have. It will not bring back family members long gone.

You will never be a kid again. Never.

And that is okay. Trying to chase that sensation isn't a bad thing, we need comfort, we need the past to make us sleep better at night. There are moments in my life where i was hit with great nostalgia and in those brief moments, my mind went silent, it felt like i could breathe again, the colour of life came back, those moments are truly amazing. We all need those periods where we just cry our eyes out or sit in silence and let the memories of the past comfort our frantic minds.

Nostalgia is a beautiful thing that can make the present better, it can make you more passionate about your interests and how they have evolved, it can make you more thankful of how much you've grown as a person. But it can also be a poison that eats you away inside. Do not let it make you hate the world. Let it make you feel calm, hopeful, mindful, relaxed...

Sonic Mania 2 was in the works, there was music, the ui looked complete, the art direction was there, they had a vision, they were cooking. BUT WE GOT SUPERSTARS INSTEAD! AKA! SONIC MIDSTARS!

Also the song Tee Lopes released is amazing too UGH! ITS SO GOOD!

Like, okay, I'm happy the Mania team got to make their own studio and make Penny's Big Breakaway, i only played the demo but it seems really interesting. But i will always mourn the loss of another Sonic game made by them. It sucks that Sega keeps fumbling the bag with something good on their hands.

No. I don't have opinions on this game because i will never play it. There is something about the idea of anime horse women racing and it being filmed like a proper fucking horse race that is TOO goofy for me.

It's also a mobile gacha game. The microtransactions have GOTTA be out of control right? Like, no hate to people who enjoy this, obviously, you do you, we all got that one game we spend a crap ton of money on, but I'm never ever ever gonna play this game.

Hey, I did a thing.

This took me over 3 to 5 days of concentrated effort to archive my favourite songs from both Spotify and YouTube via um.... methods i won't share but you can figure it out ;)

I decided to do all this because music is a very important thing to me, ever since i was a kid i spent so much free time with a CD player in my hand, headphones on my head and just walking around my room listening to Michael Jackson tracks my parents burnt on CDs.

Music is something that is so tied to humanity as a whole, and i think it's very important for it to be preserved and archived. There's a lot of indie tracks i listen to that could just vanish off of YouTube with no backup whatsoever, and i can no longer listen to them. That would destroy me, and with how volatile streaming is and how tied it is to the internet, who knows what could happen if Spotify collapsed one day.

So i backed up nearly all of my songs that i wanted to preserve, i am missing some game osts but honestly there's always gonna be mp3 backups somewhere so I'm in no rush to archive them.

I have this archive on my PC, an SSD, a PSP and a 3DS.

While physical media such as CDs, vinyl and cassette tapes are very very important for preservation, a DRM free digital file that can be accessed offline is still a great way to archive music you care about and don't wanna be lost forever. If you're bored and have free time on your hands, I highly encourage you to back up your favourite tracks, especially if you only listen to music on Spotify and other streaming services.
