Honestly, I find these liberal "I'm-not-a-Zionist-but" American Jews more despicable than the out-and-out settlers. At least with the settlers, you know where you stand. But tributary and mariacallous are like "oh of course I support the Palestinian cause, but be careful where you donate because lots of Palestinian charities are fronts for Hamas and, obviously, Jewish people do still deserve an ethnostate in the Levant, we just think they should be nicer about it." Despicable.

The year…1982. Also 1971 and 1996.
Okay, I tried to do this from memory (lol) and this is undoubtedly American-centric...
1982 - I think I have to go with My Favorite Year, but Poltergeist is such a classic.
1971 - The Last Picture Show and Klute are two incredible movies from that year, and I also love Plaza Suite (which may have come out a year or so later but I love it anyway)
1996 - There are some big movies this year like Mission: Impossible and Trainspotting, but for me my mind immediately goes to Fargo and The Bird Cage. But I also love Cold Comfort Farm!
Thanks!

If you're still doing the one-card tarot reading, may I get one from either the tinseltown or the literary witches? Or even dealer's choice?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Lucky you, you get both!)
Your card is the Page of Swords. He's smart, sharp, and often indecisive about how to apply himself. He has everything he needs to succeed; he just needs to practice with his judgment a little more.
Your cards are Anne Carson and Knife. Your mind is a weapon, and mostly you use it on yourself. The conflict that goes on inside your head would stun anyone who saw it, but you don't understand how more people don't see it. It's written all over your face, you may think, but the truth is you hide it too well for that. The solution isn't to share your pain more freely, but to learn to put down the knife. It is possible to feel something without hurting yourself.

🔥tiktok
🔥true crime
🔥tiktok
tiktok is evil cuz of all the obvious reasons but especially bc it mainstreamed video. remember how everyone was mad about 'pivot to video'? that was correct. people caved like a bunch of democrats
🔥true crime
i think people being interested in true crime isnt that big a deal tbh. i love murder mysteries. and if taylor swift can be my fictionalized blorbo then i can imagine people fictionalizing true crime. i dont think that translates into lack of empathy automatically. video games where you cosplay the us military killing brown people are probably worse but thats like a republican argument so

mariacallous posting a twitter thread attacking the Intercept article exposing NYT's journalistic malpractice in publishing "Screams Without Words?" And the thread is by a Zionist woman who also retweeted at least one terf? But I thought mariacallous was pro-Palestine? I thought Zionist just meant "Jew?" What's happening???

12. what's some good advice you want to share?
Probably isn't useful cuz most of my moots here are full grown adults but for any teens that are following: seriously, take a gap year after high school. For one, it's just good to have a break given how high pressure junior and senior year can be, so you can recalibrate before college. For two, just don't faff around during the gap year, try and get some kind of job/internship/regular activity in your potential field of employ. It really lets you know if it's a good fit for you and if it's something you wanna pursue longterm. Best thing I ever did was take a break from schooling and spend my year working on a campaign, it got me valuable experience, some time off of constant studying, and it showed me that this field I'm interested in is also one where I can do good work, work that people want and are willing to pay for to make sure I stick around. Gap year, gap year, gap year.
20. favorite thing about the night?
Well for one, a lot of my favorite restaurants in Seattle tend to be restaurants that aren't open for lunch, or whose lunch menus pale in comparison to the dinner ones, so I like that. But in all seriousness, probably that it's for me. I do school and extracurriculars during the daytime, I try to get any homework out of the way while it's still light out, so the night is just all for me to relax, watch something on my laptop, do some writing, read a bit.
34. any pet peeves?
Honestly, probably a ton. A lot of you guys have been here for a really long time, you've seen how often I complain. There's a lot of stuff that can really irritate me, but off the top of my head, I despise when people talk about me as if I'm not there (it's a recurring thing sometimes that if my mom or sister refer to me as "she" when talking about me in a discussion I'm involved in, I'll get snippy until they recalibrate) and, given that I live in an apartment, when my neighbors forget they also live in an apartment either via unreasonable requests (sorry downstairs neighbor but I'm entitled to walk in and out of my home in the middle of the afternoon with shoes on) or just being absurdly loud (had to literally leave passive aggressive notes for a neighbor across the hall once because they kept having shouting loud conversations in the hallway at 1am and waking me up).
