Summary: Nico and Marley reflect on love for eachother while they help with her hair routine

I sat between Nico’s legs while they took out my braids. They were so gentle while doing it, they did everything gently. I met him almost 2 years ago after being introduced to him through Lennon, it was crazy to me that they had been best friends for years and I never met him before but I’m glad we finally met. I’ve never felt this safe in any of my past relationships, it felt like I had a knack for finding toxic or just odd people, but he was just different. I struggle to understand why he wants to be with me, why he’s learned my hair routine including all the steps and products, why they wanted to memorize all my favorite albums and musicians, or why they were so passionate and gentle about everything. I never thought I deserved to be treated nicely, much less having someone be this in love with me,, and the people at school never let me forget it. 

Nico kissed my forehead as he finished undoing the last braid. He did the deep conditioning detangling, scalp treatments, they did it all. 

“You look so gorgeous right now. You always do!” He said.

I just smiled and kissed him. I was still getting used to accepting compliments.

Marley fell asleep on my chest after I did her hair routine. She always got tired after that so she now lay on my chest with one of the cats on the bed beside her. I was so happy when Lennon introduced me to her. I love how passionate, kind, beautiful, and generous she is. Looking at her is like looking at a goddess first thing in the morning. She told me that her confidence was destroyed in high school and that none of her past partners ever wanted to do anything about that, I never understood why anyone could think she was anything but beautiful. 

I understood what it was like to have insecurities that completely ruined you. It’s interesting to have someone who looks at you like you’re the only person that matters but for whatever reason, Marley loves to look at me that way. I never felt comfortable with my gender, I don’t think I’m completely a boy, and it used to fuck me up so badly in high school. Marley completely validates me and it’s such a healing experience. 

Marley is as pretty as a star, the brightest star in the sky whose light never burns out.

I feel like Marley doesn't feel hard to love when she starts dating Nico. She had been in relationships in the past where she was very fetishized for being a black/mixed girl and she really struggled to believe she was loveable at all because of how bad her eating disorder and body image issues had gotten as a teenager. With Nico: she had this very soft, calm and passionate love with him that always felt comfortable. They respected her identity, her boundaries, her family, they respected everything so much. I think it also kind of helped Marley to open up to Nico about her ed and body struggles because they had also expressed how they struggled with body and gender dysmorphia too.

Marley and Nico are just very comfortable with eachother and very in love.

okay so in the swap au are the counselors roles swapped, or is it their whole personality and stuff too?

Just their narrative roles! Everyone maintains their same baseline personality, with a little bit of tweaking to slot them nicely into their new roles. It’s basically just who they’d be in a different context.

For example, Matthew and Warren are swapped. Matthew now runs the creativity cabin, and has the kids crafting up incomprehensible horrors using the weirdest materials imaginable. This makes Warren the camp chef, a quieter fellow who keeps to himself in the kitchen, and cooks primarily with natural/ organic ingredients found around the camp! He gets a bit funky with the garnishes, sprinkling in teeth here and there for some extra flare. His food is homegrown and made with love!

Another example could be Joshua and Yvonne. They’re already co-counsellors so their position in camp isn’t all that altered… however, Joshua is now a gamer. A gaming YouTuber, at that. The most obnoxious little shit the world has ever seen, he speaks in hip kid internet lingo, over-emotes like he’s posing for YouTube thumbnails 24/7, and brags about his epic subscriber count. This makes Yvonne the cringefail series punching bag… poor Yvonne. They’re still cool and goth tho. She’s got a whole “wolf” thing going on to parallel Joshua’s— but this time it’s in a more “RAWR XD wolfgirlthing *barks at you* preps get da hell out of here!” Way. They listen to nightcore. The kids still love them and find them fun, but they aren’t too respected by their co-counsellors. But that’s ok. A lot of preps stare at her. She puts up her middle finger at them. /ref

juniper tried once to get Elijah off the camp grounds once by setting up a fake tea party, but the tea was poisoned. Ultimately he never found it, and juniper didn’t want the tea to go to waste, so he drank a bit and was sick for a while.
